Arabs Made the Choice Clear May 15, 1948

As every Jewish day begins at sunset the evening before rather than at midnight, the evening of May 14, 1948 began the celebrations of the declaration of the state of Israel. The population was a mix of various groups including but not limited to the Jews and Arabs who had resided side by side in peace for centuries in the Holy Lands, the Zionists who had been arriving since around 1850 with a sizeable increase after World War II as Jewish survivors had no other place to go, and the Arabs who had flocked to the area since the return of the Jews in a search for a brighter future for their families as the soon to be declared Jewish State had an improved economic outlook compared to her neighboring nations. These Arabs arrived from as close as Syria, Jordan and Egypt and as far as Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Yemen, the Sudan, Libya, Tunisia and even Algeria. There were separate and mixed celebrations into the night followed the next morning with seven Nations’ armies and attached militias invading from every border thus beginning what was planned to be a quick war of annihilation. There were other fighting that marred the night mostly along the periphery where Jews and Arabs lived together or as neighbors in villages a mere minutes’ walk apart. Some of these fights were of the greatest of sadness as these were Arab against Arab where the Arab villages which had decided to stay and join in building the new state were slaughtered by fellow Arabs and even some by their own neighbors or even families. The breaking of dawn made the Arab choice obvious as Jews found neighboring Arab villages mostly barren or strewn with corpses of those they knew as friends. There were two groups of Arabs remaining in Israel alive the next morning; those Arabs who truly desired to build the new state and those who planned on supporting the coming genocidal slaughter by striking at Israeli fighters from behind their lines and slaughtering the women and children who were not fighting on the front lines. The duplicity of those who remained only to aid the genocidal attacks from the seven nations’ Armies that morning of May 15, 1948 was the response of the Arab world as set forth by the “Arab League which declared that all Israel and those who sided with the Jews were to die and the land cleansed of this, as they regarded the forming of Israel, endemic contagion, this blighted pestilence which marred the purity of the surrounding Arabiya and had to be purged and scoured clean resettled by a more accepting Arab State which posed no insult or injury to the Arab communal pride, the Arab uniformity which they demanded be restored. That was the initial and the continuing view of the Arab world and that view persists to this day though it has transformed and adapted so as to form a more favorable and sympathetic front, though there has been no change of view from the Arab world or Arab League as is most evident in voting of the General Assembly of the United Nations.

The United Nations was not always against the Jewish State as they set forth a suggestion for a compromise which took the lands from which seventy-eight percent had been carved off of the original lands intended by the League of Nations for the formation of the Jewish State. The League of Nations validated the San Remo Conference formation of the Mandate system which was further agreed upon in the Treaty of Sèvres which established mandate lands under the guardianship of each of the victorious allied nations dividing up the defeated Ottoman Empire lands along with the Sykes-Picot Agreement which dealt with the remainder of lands of the Middle East and redrew the lines in eastern Europe with the British Mandate presumable set aside for the Jewish State. The ink had barely dried on the Sane Remo Conference and the Treaty of Sèvres when the British posed to the Zionist Congress, the Jewish ruling entity which represented the interests of the future Jewish State, proposing for the lands east of the Jordan River be repurposed, some might claim stolen by right of might as the British had an army and the Zionist Congress had quill pens and parchment, for an Arab State named Transjordan where the Arabs could have self-rule under the guidance, rule, of the Hashemite Monarchy which the British had owed a debt after the Hashemite family had aided the British and as a result lost their title over Mecca and Medina for which Transjordan could at best soften the blow. Needless to say, the Zionist Congress took this offer as it came with a promise of inviolability of the remaining twenty-two percent of the lands west of the Jordan River backed by the British Crown, a promise that had all the power of a stiff breeze on a spring day and as often comes in the spring, the storm clouds soon blew in. The British did to the best of their ability place the lands promised to the Zionist Congress all but unavailable for the Jews to emigrate to during their time of most dire necessity as the British along with the rest of the world’s nations closed off every avenue with only the slimmest of opportunities when the European Jews were being shipped to slaughter houses where they were dealt death with assembly line efficiency by the Nazis during World War II. Even after the War the British continued to impose strict limitations such that their promise to the many Arab states and royalties demands that the Jews never be permitted to realize a majority of the population in the British controlled lands west of the Jordan River and thus never being capable of meeting the set requirements for the founding of their state. It was due this predicament that a compromise was reached despite British casting their votes and lobbying the other nations in the United Nations General Assembly to vote down Resolution 181 (Partition Plan of Palestine) which proposed to divide the lands west of the Jordan River in half granting each patrician one to the Arabs and one to the Jews for their state. The division (pictured in the map below) granted the Jews lands made up almost two-thirds being parts of the Negev Desert and granting the Arabs the most fertile lands, all the higher Judean Hills overlooking this coastal strip of Jewish land around Tel Aviv and the majority of the Galilee with Jerusalem under international control but completely surrounded by Arab land which would likely have resulted in their taking control of all of Jerusalem with only the most minor threat of violence before and international forces would pack-up and go home. One could hardly have designed a more advantageous division of land setting the Jews up for a very short existence but for reasons we will never know or understand, perhaps it was the divine intervention of Hashem, the Arab League voted against the plan as they would not accept even a truncated and completely undefendable Jewish State and by voting the plan down and the Zionist Congress agreeing to the plan the default became the lands west of the Jordan River would become the Jewish State, just as the British promised but had worked so tirelessly to prevent.

UN Palestine Partition Versions of 1947 and included within UN General Assembly Resolution 181 which was rejected by the Arab League negating the UN Resolution as if either side rejects such a UN Resolution which is non-binding, it invalidates the entire agreement rendering it mute from that point forward. Jerusalem was to be managed by a corpus separatum (Latin: “separate entity”) set up consisting of an international groups most likely to be rotated. This offer was accepted by the Zionist Congress but having any General Assembly Resolution accepted by one side and rejected by the other is simply one hand clapping, useless.

The evening of May 14, 1948 the Jews and Arab friends celebrated and the next morning went to war with a dozen aircraft, most without guns and few bombs often dropping seltzer bottles as they whistled as they fell and made a very satisfyingly loud pop when they struck ground; a few small tanks and armored up trucks and cars, a fair number of rudimentary or antiquated rifles and submachineguns with little hope of survival. During this war of survival, from the Jewish side of things, they often had arrivals from the refugee camps, many still emaciated from the concentration camps where they managed to survive. These Jewish refugees found they no longer had any home to return to and had heard of entire areas where returning Jews were shot on sight rather than have to face them and tell how their homes, businesses and belongings had been redistributed. They arrived and went straight from the boats to the front lines, some holding rifles not even knowing how to fire them even being shot without ever taking their rifles from safety to firing setting yet they sang Psalms as they advanced. This lack of training combined with a simple wish to defend the land at any cost was one of many difficulties corrected but which made the first weeks the most dire and treacherous. Lessons were learned and even better arms were procured with the main provider of weapons coming from a place which identified with the Jewish State as they had been the sacrificial lamb for expediency leading up to World War II, the nation of Czechoslovakia. Eventually an armistice ended the active war and Israel mourned the loss of one in ten Israelis. This end to the conflict would not remain settled indefinitely. In 1967 Egypt and Syria attacked Israel from top and bottom and on day two the Jordanians entered the war despite warnings and pleadings from Israel warning them the broadcasts from Egypt and Syria about their closing on Tel Aviv were false; but the Jordanian King thought the Jews were attempting to trick him and he was not to be denied his share of the spoils. The spoils were shared when the world demanded an end to the Six Day War where Israel liberated lands she had lost in 1948 which included the Golan Heights, Eastern Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and Gaza plus gained the lands of the Sinai Peninsula which is almost five times the size of Israel. This also placed Israel on one bank of the Suez Canal, a vital waterway, and also one side of the Straights of Tiran which guaranteed freedom of entry to the entire red Sea and access to the Arabian Sea and thus the Indian and Pacific Oceans and trade with Asia. It was the blockading of this important waterway which caused the Six Day war along with the massed armies by Syria and Egypt on the Israeli borders. The Syrian and Egyptians opted for a replay in 1973 but this time Jordan wisely decided to sit this round out. This was the Yom Kippur War in which Israel almost lost it all in the opening hours but regrouped and eventually was racing towards Damascus and had crossed the Suez Canal using the same bridges the Egyptians had used to surge across initiating the conflict and were heading for Alexandria and Cairo when the United Nations, Russians, United States and darn near the entire chorus of nations screamed “Stop!” Israel was duly chastised for taking advantage of the situation and was persuaded, it could be called threatened just as easily, to return to the demarcation lines from the previous armistice at the end of the Six Day War and return all gains as if the entirety of the conflict had not occurred.

The Arab world learned some dear lessons and different lessons were taken from these difficult conflicts. Egypt would be the first to strike a peace with Israel. This peace involved the return of the entirety of the Sinai Peninsula and the surrender of Gaza back to Israel as it had been occupied by Egypt and never actually annexed. Jordan was next to make peace and they too returned the lands they had occupied with one difference, Jordan had also annexed the lands and granted the citizenship to the Arabs living in the areas of Judea and Samaria which Jordan renamed West Bank; I guess Judea just sounded too Jewish. Jordan also forced the Jews living in those lands to relocate back into Israel taking their homes and anything they were unable to carry with them after their taking the lands in 1948. This presented an interesting option that of course Israel was never allowed to contemplate, let alone actually actualize it, namely the Arabs residing in Judea and Samaria were now Jordanian citizens and as such could have been given the same treatment the Jews received when Jordan took the lands from Israel in 1948 and be made to relocate to Jordan across the Jordan River. This act would have saved the world a ton of pains and displeasure, though I often get the feeling the world, with a few choice exceptions, get a great deal of pleasure in Israel’s woes. So, to reward Israeli kindness in allowing these Jordanians to remain in their homes, keep their fields, groves, flocks, businesses and other properties and not forcing them from the liberated lands, the world gave them a foreign name changing them from Jordanians to Palestinians. Where the name Palestinians came from depends on who you ask. It appears to have come almost literally from the Roman name for Judea imposed after the Jewish revolt by Bar Kokhba which succeeded from132 through 135 after which the Roman Emperor Hadrian changed the name to Syria Palaestina, after the Roman pronunciation for Philistine, the ancient Jewish enemy long extinguished from the Earth who were a sea-faring nation originally from the Grecians Isles, and Jerusalem to Aelia Capitolina, thus Palaestina became Palestine and the Palestinians. This invented peoples who genetically, historically, socially and in all means other than geographically and with many having families residing from their originating lands of Syria, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Iraq and the other Arab nations were the concept of the KGB as the Soviet Union’s as part of their opposition to everything Western during the Cold War with the United States which made Israel their sworn enemy and as she was surrounded by the Soviet’s allied Arab states she was also apparently the low hanging fruit. Since the frontal assaults of 1948, 1967 and 1973 failed, the Soviets opted for a more nuanced approach where instead of the Goliath Arab world fighting little Israel it was recast as the Goliath IDF against stone throwing powerless Palestinians who were not related to any of the Arab world and had resided in the land which the Jews had stolen since the time before time. Any claim was conceivable as everything about the Palestinian people, state, history etcetera was cut from whole cloth and from the imagination of KGB operatives who were the coworkers, maybe not directly but for the same bosses, as Vlad the Invader Putin, so imagine your worst and they probably could best that and from the way the world acts now, their plans are working even after the Soviet Union collapsed such that it makes one wonder exactly who does this pretense serve now? Answer me that, please.

So what does all this history and histrionics prove? All it proves is that Israel today had the borders defended by the IDF which are presumably by all treaties, conferences, history and original context are exactly as they should be and if any group within is not satisfied with this fact, they have two options, cry a lot and be very unhappy or move to someplace where they will be more comfortable. They will decide not to move as where are their choices? Syria? That would be just a tad crazy. Lebanon? Iraq? Not likely as they are Sunni and not really anxious to step into the middle of a Sunni Shiite war. Saudi Arabia? Kuwait? Well Saudi Arabia would be insulted as they send lots of oil dollars to these very same Arabs so they can kill and otherwise inconvenience Israel and possibly reclaim Muslim land for the greater glory of Mecca and Medina which are in Saudi Arabia and the Kuwaitis threw them out after Yasser Arafat backed Saddam Hussein after he destroyed Kuwait and killed many Kuwaitis during his all too long occupation of that nation eventually liberated by a coalition of the willing or some such nonsense. It was the United States and Western allies who did the major fighting. Egypt? They would not be welcome there as they are considered to be not all that different than the Arabs in Gaza which currently are causing Egypt headaches and security risks. Simply stated, the rest of the Arab world had forsaken the Palestinians because they have been turned into viscous murderers largely and their school system teaches only hatred and violent jihad which would only cause whatever nation and its government heartache and revolts and little else. The Palestinian Arabs have been trained for the past twenty years plus to murder Jews and demand special favor and act in as anti-social a manner as any peoples could imagine. They are bred on discontent and the destructive actions which bring only hardship upon their own people as they must be all but quarantined from the rest of the society which might actually desire to live productive lives free of senseless violence. This can be witnessed by visiting one of the many companies and manufacturers the European Union just voted to label their products in a move they hope will result in lost sales and income which will only hurt the very Palestinian Arab people they claim to be aiding but who work side by side with Jews in these companies and many of these Arabs are managers and have positions with Jewish workers under their direction with no friction and great cooperation, the way it would be without the instigators. But this was the hope of not just the Soviet Union when this plan was hatched but also the darling of the Arab and much of the Muslim worlds as they demand that the land of Israel be denied all but the Muslim Arabs who once held it under Suleiman and under the Caliphate and then the Ottoman Empire thus cannot be permitted to be lost to any other peoples to rule. The Jews must be made to respect their Islamic betters and be subservient Dhimmi and accept their abasement and degradations which are to be heaped upon them until they accept servitude and being a class beneath full humanity. The choice the Arabs demand of the world is either Israel or the Arabs rule and until the Jews are brought down the Arabs will rise against them. In the end, as we have stated before, in the end there can be only one. For as long as Israel can stand, that one will be the Jews protecting and defending the lands promised Abraham, guaranteed by the League of Nations, the British Crown, the United Nations and International Law. Those are the realities and the truths which anyone who studies the history is fully aware, but too many are frightened to stand with Israel as that might make them a larger target for terrorism though not standing with Israel has not prevented terrorism either. The world can line up with whichever side they wish, for us, we choose Israel.
