Is President Trump Capable of Learning the Hard Lessons?

President Trump is approaching the Arab-Israeli conflict using his experience in business and real estate where neither side gets everything they desired but each side settles for the best-case scenario where they both gain some and lose some. That is not how the Middle East works. It has taken the Israelis close to sixty to seventy years to figure this out for themselves. President Trump is going to have to figure this out within the next few months if not weeks. We must confess that we thought that there had to be some special combination and sets of trade-offs which would lead to peace at long last. We took time to learn this but we needed to learn on our own without the CIA, State Department, NSA and all the other facilities that the United States government is capable of providing. Then again, one need discover that the State Department is corrupted by oil money, the CIA refuses to answer the most pertinent questions and the NSA denies that they know anything, so perhaps Trump is just as bad off. But, if nothing else, we try to sometimes perform the necessary functions by relating those things we have learned over the years through observation and a small amount of experience. So, here goes nothing, or maybe the base knowledge for reaching peace between the Israelis and the Palestinians, or more accurately between Islam and Judaism and every other religion.

Let us start with the coming negotiations from which we will have the reveal of the “Deal of the Century” followed by negotiations. Thusfar, all we know for fact is that one of the negotiating sides will be Israel. The other side keeps jumping around from the Palestinians initially. Then Saab Erekat and Mahmoud Abbas refused any peace where President Trump or the United States is involved. From there we saw the concept that Jordan could replace the Palestinians and negotiate with Israel. Jordan doubled down on the Mahmoud Abbas demands and expectations of complete victory erasing Israel, though they simply stated they would only accept a peace which Mahmoud Abbas would accept. This sent the entire peace process into a whirlwind of confusion. There were ideas floated about Egypt and then Saudi Arabia and back to Jordan and now President Trump has returned to talking about the Palestinians. Two recent articles covered ideas put forth unofficially by former Jordanian government ministers which can be read here and here. These positions both, the second far more so than the first, evidenced how much the Jordanians are not about to be in any means helpful in forming any peace which would leave Israel defendable if existing at all. Perhaps these Jordanian views are behind President Trump returning to talking about the Palestinian Authority, but he had best learn that there is no peace here either.

So, the route of following the different renditions of the slowly unwrapping of the “Deal of the Century” we started with the refusal to even allow negotiations from Saab Erekat and Mahmoud Abbas and the Palestinian Authority to the Jordanians refusing to take any deal which the Palestinian Authority first accepted to Egypt to Saudi Arabia where the President was told they would only negotiate if the Palestinian Authority sanctioned these negotiations back to the Jordanians who floated two steadily more demanding plans either of which would lead to the destruction of Israel back to the Palestinians who are being enticed by the promise that they would get something nice and Israel would have to swallow whatever this was because the United States moved their embassy and recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, though still stated that this did mean that Israel owned the entirety of the city of Jerusalem. We have been promised that there will be things which each side will like, things each side will hate, and neither side will be fully satisfied but will find the deal acceptable. Well, he has part of the Middle East conflict with Israel figured out but has made two mistakes in his computations.

The first mistake President Trump has made is that Israel must be required to make sacrifices for peace. This statement is made so often that people accept that Israel need to actually make sacrifices as they have never made any sacrifices to the Palestinian Arabs. Well, this is like claiming that Israel has not made a sacrifice for peace today and needs to make sacrifices for peace daily. Nobody else need do a single thing for peace, only Israel must make daily sacrifices for peace and eventually somebody will meet them halfway on their final sacrifice. At this rate, which is how things have worked thusfar, Israel makes sacrifices for peace such as returning the entirety of the Sinai Peninsula to Egypt for peace. Israel reached peace with Jordan when Jordan presumably released their claims to the regions west of the Jordan River just as Egypt had released any claims to Gaza. These were rational concerns as the original borders of Israel were the Jordan River as her eastern border and included Gaza in the south when established on May 14, 1948, and lost those lands as a result of the Arab attempt to destroy Israel from the day of her conception. Dawn of May 15, 1948, six Arab nations and additional forces from around the Arab and Muslim worlds invaded Israel and their intentions were declared by Azzam Pasha, Secretary-General of the Arab League: “It will be a war of annihilation. It will be a momentous massacre in history that will be talked about like the massacres of the Mongols or the Crusades.” The blood-lust is purely evident in this sentiment and that has only grown since then by multiples in some circles. Israel, in military terms, lost the 1948 war to annihilate Israel, misnamed as the Israeli War of Independence. The only way the 1948 war was a war of independence was that Israel declared their independence and that Arab world attempted to erase that declaration. History claims Israel won that war and gained areas which we find extremely odd when you consider the British map for the dividing of the British Mandate (see map below). From this map, it is evident that both Gaza and the Shomron (Jordanian named West Bank) were within the intended Jewish state of Israel. The Arab state was to be Transjordan which became Jordan around 1949; it appears everybody wanted to alter the name imposed by the British, what a surprise. This map below should simply be adopted as intended by the San Remo Conference, the League of Nations, the British Mandate and all adopted for enforcement under Article 80 of the United Nations Charter. Those Arabs who are not Israeli citizens would be given two choices, sign an oath promising not to act against Israel and then permitted to remain as legal alien residents or leave and go live in an Arab nation or wherever they can find acceptance. Those who signed the oath seeking to remain would be exiled immediately from performing or supporting any terrorist action as such would be a breaking of their oath of refraining from acting against Israel.

Another item noticeable is that the Jewish State area which was to become Israel was named Palestine because before 1964 the Palestinians were the Jews who would become Israel. The Palestine Philharmonic Orchestra is today the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. The Palestinian Post is today the Jerusalem Post. We could continue but you get the idea. Yasser Arafat chose, with KGB guidance, to steal the name Palestinians such that he could then transfer the entirety of the early Zionist movement into an Arab independence movement counting on people not knowing the history and being for too lazy to bother and research his claims when accepting them and demonizing Jews and Israel was far more appealing. Under British rule, there were two groups residing in the British Mandate, the Palestinians (Jews) and Arabs. East of the Jordan River was reserved to be the Arab state and no Jews were permitted to reside east of the Jordan River even should they have title to lands within the area. West of the Jordan River was to be the Jewish State and Arabs and anyone else who desired were welcome and oddly enough, the only people ever to face restrictions to their immigration numbers were Jews, how absolutely strange. Only Jews were restricted from entry into the lands reserved to be the future Jewish state. It was an Arab-British collaboration. The British realized that as long as they permitted, or often enticed and were aided by Arab leaders who sent Arab emigrants to the British Mandate for the Jewish state, more Arabs to reside west of the Jordan than the numbers of Jews, then the Jewish state could never succeed. What everybody did not count on was the great assistance provided by the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem Amin al-Husseini who when Israel was about to declare their independence, he demanded that every Muslim and Arab move east of the Jordan River so that the invading and soon to be gloriously victorious Arab armies could simply kill every single person they saw as only Jews would remain. To the advantage of Israel, many hundreds of thousands of Arabs and Muslims obeyed the directive from Grand Mufti of Jerusalem Amin al-Husseini and fled to behind the Arab lines across the Jordan River. What is a little advertised or known fact is that all of the Arabs who remained in Israel and did not impede the Israeli forces or work as a fifth element aiding the Arab armies by housing fighters in their towns and villages, were made citizens of Israel and they and their children and following generations to this very day. Meanwhile, those Arabs who obeyed the order from Grand Mufti of Jerusalem Amin al-Husseini are the Palestinian refugees as their Arab brothers decided it would be better to incarcerate them and hold them in camps and forbid them to be allowed to work or hold certain positions, refused them citizenship and left them to be used as a weapon to destroy Israel. These Arabs and their descendants are the vast majority of the refugees which the Arabs demand must be relocated within Israel, the very place they fled from to permit those who remained to be slaughtered. There are refugee camps where the refugees have relatives residing outside the camp as citizens of the nation where the camp is located. Lastly, there are refugee camps for Palestinian refugees within the regions held by the Palestinian Authority and within Hamas ruled Gaza with one of the largest being part of Gaza City.

So, what is it that Israel will need to concede to grant the Palestinian Authority a present equal to the moving of the American Embassy which Congress had ordered in 1995? Why must Israel make concessions because an American President obeyed an American law? Well, this is something we will soon be told and it will probably be a doozy. The great news is that it makes no difference as long as Israel makes one demand, that nothing takes effect until there is a signed and accepted peace agreement, an actual peace treaty and not merely a hudna. Israel should make this the necessary requirement to take place before she actually acts on any concessions or similar such sacrifices. This would work as an insurance against making any further one sided sacrifices in order to be permitted the pleasure of negotiating further sacrifices which the Palestinian Authority would pocket and then walk out while not making a single concession because the United States loves to make Israel be flexible while not pressing the Palestinians to take a single step towards coexistence. Israel has sacrificed all of Gaza and received Hamas, Islamic Jihad and Iran sitting on her southern border. Israel sacrificed Areas A and B and is now being demanded to sacrifice Area C such that the Green Line, better known as the 1949 Armistice Line between Israel and Jordan after the end of the initial Arab world effort to eradicate Israel often called the Israeli War of Independence. Back in 1949 there was no such concept as Palestine. Israel liberated these lands from Jordan in the Six Day War when Jordan attacked Israel well after the war with Syria and Egypt was begun and after Israel begged the Jordanian King not to sacrifice his soldiers in a futile effort as Egypt and Syria were being driven back in an absolute rout. But Egypt and Syria were transmitting radio news on the war about how their forces were closing on Tel Aviv and the Jews were surrendering throwing down their weapons and running from the great Arab fighters. The Jordanian King chose to believe the Syrian and Egyptian broadcasts seeing the Israeli request as weakness which simply validated the Egyptian and Syrian reports and he wanted his slice of Israel. Jordan lost the region they had illegally occupied as a result. This was the June 1967 Six Day War. In the 1973 Yom Kippur War, the Jordanian King decided to sit that war out, wisely. Nowhere in any of these conflicts between the Arabs and Israel has there ever been a nation of Palestine. Never in the history of the world has there ever been a nation of Palestine. Never in history has any nation other than Israel or Judea, both Israelite and Jewish nations, has any nation used Jerusalem as their capital. These are facts which the world loves to ignore.

The final hurdle is getting the Palestinians, Jordanians, Egyptians, Saudi Arabians or the Arab League to sign any peace agreement with Israel in the current Islamic atmosphere. Islam is feeling strong and as the force on the verge of world conquest. They see their infiltration of Europe through millions of refugees as the implanting an invasion force and that this time they have circumvented the Gates of Vienna twice, the first can be read about here and the second can be read about here. With Europe being considered all but surrendering and soon to become an Islamic Waqf, the Arabs see no reason or way that Israel should be permitted to remain outside of their control. Further, as no lands which were once part of Islam are all considered an Islam Waqf which can never be permitted to be ruled by any others who are not Muslims, Israel must be returned to Islamic rule. After all, did not Allah promise in the Quran that the forces of Islam cannot be defeated and are superior to all others? They honestly believe that they are superior to all other peoples. This has had a great and horrifying effect on all negotiations between Israel and the Arab entities. When Israel reached agreements with Egypt and Jordan, both realized they were not capable of destroying Israel and keeping up a military equal to the idea of eventually fighting Israel in another war was destroying any hope of economic growth. The cost was simply untenable. This was before the “Arab Spring” which we referred to quite early as an “Arab Winter” back on May 20, 2011, in our article The End of Hope in the Arab Spring. Since then, Islamic radicals, extremists, fundamentalists or other term of your preference, have taken to the fore and intimidated those who would prefer coexistence who reside within the Islamic Empire, one of the largest and longest living empires in all of Earth history. These Islamists, as they are often referred, having cowed any opposition, if not simply eliminating them, have taken to the fore and they believe that this is the time which Allah has provided when they will complete their conquest and all will submit to Allah and Islam. We are not saying this; their Imams are claiming this. Simply research translations of the more recent teaching by Imam Yusuf al-Qaradawi, the Egyptian cleric who made a triumphant return to Cairo during the Arab Spring and after Morsi was deposed by Sisi. Yusuf al-Qaradawi (image below) was banished once again from Egypt and returned to Qatar. With the fundamentalist extremists in charge in many places such as where the Islamic State still had a presence such as Libya and the Sinai Peninsula or other such groups and some Arab and Muslim leaders such as Turkey with their President for Life Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the Iranian Mullahs led by their Supreme Leader Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Hosseini Khamenei, the Muslim leaders almost everywhere almost all appear to be salivating and awaiting the third, and they claim final, surge of Islam in their process guaranteed by Allah in conquest of the entire world. With such expectations and their hatred of the Jews as well as the fact that Israel has defeated the undefeatable forces of Islam repeatedly, the vengeance factor also comes into play and the only peace that is currently acceptable is the complete subjugation of the Jews.

Where does this leave President Trump’s “Deal of the Century” currently? Well, we would advise libraries, once it is revealed, placing it in the fiction area of the library under fanciful foolishness. There is no deal which any of the parties thus far mentioned which they would find acceptable where Israel is permitted to remain as the Jewish State, even if all that it was allowed was the Tel Aviv metropolitan area. Mahmoud Abbas has given the acceptable plan for a two state solution, one Palestine under Arab rule and the other Israel under Arab rule with the Jews permitted to remain as Dhimmi for as long as this suits the Arab leadership. This was the acceptable concept for Mahmoud Abbas’s most generous peace agreement as it permitted the Jews to remain in Israel, just not ruling it but instead as it must be according to the Quran, the Jews as their masters’ feet. As there is no “Deal of the Century” which will satisfy the Arabs short of sending the Jews to, as was proposed by the Nazi German government, Madagascar or, as Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad once said, Israel should be moved to “Europe, Canada, the United States, or Alaska.” Needless to add, all of these ideas are nonstarters and as far as the demand often heard that the Jews should return to the nations from whence they came, what about the Jews resulting from the 850,000 Jews who fled from Arab and Muslim countries? We have some serious doubts about the feasibility of such a plan, as would the Arab nations themselves plus Iran. As the Jews remaining in and ruling democratically in Israel and are going nowhere while the Arabs continue to refuse to permit them to remain and continue to have self-rule, there is absolutely no middle ground. There is room between the two, but the problem is that room only exists because the two sides have passed one another and that region between them is still a no-go zone. President Trump needs to learn very quickly about the realities of the Middle East before he does something which will permanently compromise Israel resulting in a very costly conflict from which Israel may take over a decade to reconstruct but the Arab world might actually get the worse of it.
