Beit El a Case of Promises Against Facts

What Bibi promises the Supreme Court will demolish. The cycle is so consistent that it should have become ingrained on every religious and secular Zionists’ minds. They demolish two buildings here and the government promises to address building anew. Then when they demolish another set of homes in another location the Prime Minister feels compelled to bring a vote to build those homes he already had once promised. A while down the road the tenders have yet to be issued but the vote was close with some from the coalition opposing but finally permitted the vote and we are supposed to be thankful and kiss the rings of the demolishers. The delay comes to an end but not until the morning of yet another demolition. We wait and the tenders are opened and the Supreme Court nullifies the action claiming the homes are on contested ground because some anti-Zionist “Israeli” (financed exclusively by European funds funneled through other NGOs as well as directly in the more blatant cases) NGO in the name of a Palestinian who cannot appear before the Supreme Court as he is in a refugee camp but his family had walked their two goats there once on their way to get them water, and there is no need as the claims are all that matters. The justices feel the pain and cancel the tender and reprimand the Prime Minister for not making sure the land was not contested so the Prime Minister in reaction freezes all building. The fact is there has been a stealth construction freeze since United States President Obama took office and first demanded that no house ever be built for a Jew in the lands of Israel, especially in the most historically Jewish lands on the face of the Earth.

Israel Supreme Court ordered Beit El destruction and refused to allow petition from the residents of Beit El wishing to present full paperwork and licensing making building perfectly and completely legal as once the Supreme Court gets a decree for the demolition of Jewish homes beyond the Green Line only interdiction of Hashem to soften their hearts can change the otherwise inevitable.

How in anybody’s imagination can the reality be so warped that Judea is not Jewish land? Judea, we Jews are called Jews because we came from and lived on the land of Judea, it is that simple. Sure Mahmoud Abbas and the Palestinian television, radio, other media, school lessons, textbooks, poetry, and flowing prose given awards all across Europe all signifies that the Arabs who invented the name Palestinians after a Roman mispronunciation of Philistines claim they have lived in this area for nine-thousand years and were almost ready to take the land back from those thieving Canaanites when the Jews showed up and stole the land from those thieving land pilferers and ruined their plans and now they will not allow another theft of their lands. Never mind that their forefathers were still bowing before their stone idol deities when the Jews were writing the codes under which much of the Western World based their legal systems and social institutions. The one consistency is that one of those great stone deities they worshiped, their Moon god, was named Allah, strange but true and very telling. They had yet to get much past Mecca and had not yet heard of Jerusalem and the great Temple built by King Solomon much less inhabit the lands here thousands of years ago as Mahmoud Abbas often claims. All that aside, after the enthusiasm in Europe to send the Jews packing back to their ancient and historic homelands after World War I and begrudgingly after World War II with final recognition in 1948 after the Arab League refused the Partition offer from the United Nations General Assembly, a non-binding resolution made mute as soon as one side refused to claim it valid thus the Jews accepting it does not mean it applies but only to the redrawing the lands west of the Jordan River now that agreeing presumably retroactively after failing to destroy Israel in their three attempts, 1948-9, 1967 and 1973, the original deal may sound delicious but that is water under the bridge and over the dam lost out somewhere at sea never to be retrieved.

Young man looks on at horrific scene where the Israeli Supreme Court has ordered the demolition of apartments under construction in Beit El, a Jewish city of six-thousand people, founded in 1977 which also employs numerous Arabs from neighboring villages thus benefitting both Jews and Arabs alike.

Still, there is an illness inflicting Israeli society and its name is post-Zionism which holds that for Israel to be a modern, sophisticated and presumably accepted nation to the Europeans then Israel has to drop this whole Jewish State thing, after all that is so tenth century BCE and here we are in the twenty-first century CE, a whole thirty centuries later. Well, then I guess that the Japanese need to alter their constitution and immigration laws and drop that Japanese thing and the Chinese need to drop that Chinese thing and let us not talk about the British who might need to drop that Celtic, Norman, Austrian and Monarchy thing and the Swiss that Swiss thing and the French and the Germans and the, well, you get the idea. The real problem is the Supreme Court, the only court in the world which had a near monopoly on choosing the new justices to sit on the bench when one retires which is why there is no correlation to the Israeli Supreme Court and the will of the people of Israel. Additionally, there is absolutely no possibility of changing this situation short of a coup as the Supreme Court has assumed the title of monarchial adjudicating ruler over all of Israel.

Border Police secure the site barring their fellow Jews from potentially actively interfering with the demolition in Beit El and in some twisted manner it is a reminder of anti-Semitism experienced throughout Europe and under Islam over the past eighteen centuries in the Diaspora where many a Jew lived with one suitcase packed and ready to bring the essentials to start anew.

As near as can be determined the Supreme Court could, if it so deigned, take upon itself setting the speed limits on the roads and highways because, as President of the Supreme Court (other nations settle for chief justice but the Israeli Supreme Court has a President which is all too fitting all things considered) Aharon Barak ruled during his term as President of the Supreme Court that all things are subject to judicial review by the Supreme Court. This simply meant that the Supreme Court may review any legislation passed by the Knesset and signed by the Prime Minister and nullify the law even before the ink had dried putting on the books. For this reason I would advise that all laws initially be entered onto the books with disappearing ink and only later done with an indelible marker once the Supreme Court had adjudicated and affirmed the law. This will save time and money erasing the record and allow for the Supreme Court to either nullify, rewrite or nullify and write anew the law as it should have been legislated if only the Knesset elected by the people actually had any idea what was best for the people. This is the reason though that Prime Minister Netanyahu can promise all the building he desires or even that he would rather not allow because the Supreme Court will have every building that goes halfway up to be torn asunder as soon as any contest is filed by any party whether they are personally making the claim or making the claim in the place of a third party who always may as well remain nameless as they never need appear and no paperwork, deed or other proof ever need be entered, there just needs be a challenge in the name of any Palestinian and the buildings in question will need to be demolished.

Now this demolition may take place within hours or it may take place months down the road or even a year later after families have taken up residence. No matter, we can promise to simply move the buildings to a less contested area, oops; they fell apart before being transferred, so sorry. The cycle never seems to end and the Zionists appear to have been dizzied under the constant spinning between extending new tenders and injunction against building to a ruling for demolitions and another tender later that day followed by another annulment then a victory and the building begins, hope, refreshing new hopes. No sooner than hope and an NGO has filed a protest and counterclaim in the name of some presumed downtrodden and dejected Palestinian whose life has been filled with misery and now, on top of all that, the Jews are building on his families vegetable garden from the middle of the nineteenth century when they were driven off by a camel merchant with connections, the tales of woe. Who is this unfortunate Palestinian, the name matters not, it could be Mohammad or Abdul or even Achmed the dead Terrorist, the Supreme Court will order the demolition and refuse to give ear to the facts and the completed paperwork and licensing as once the wheels (tracks) of the wrecker have been put in motion, nothing short of an injunction from Heaven can interfere as no Earthly entity dare stand before the Supreme Court and their gavel of Aharon Barak’s universal adjudications over all things Israel.

Palestinian rally cheering the agony and misfortune Jews are inflicting on their fellow Jews as many within the halls of power and the institutions have made particular quasi-legal machinations by which they inflict severe heartache and some celebrate the misfortune of others who have never harmed them and even may employ members of these celebratory Arab Palestinians families which will also be harmed by these actions in Beit El.

This unholy and dizzying dance has turned into a tornado of terror for those Jews residing beyond the Green Line, even those who have resided on their validated and proven family lands be they in Hevron, East Jerusalem or even a small farm next to Beit El as everything falls before the domain of the Supreme Court. Unlike Supreme Courts the world wide, the Israel Supreme Court can be petitioned directly and take whatever case they deem deserving, and once deemed deserving the decision is all but finalized. There need not be proof of ownership, no deeds or other documentations are required and the plaintiff need not appear before the court or even actually have proof of their existence, just a signature on a piece of paper empowering any NGO who had hunted them down and perhaps cajoled them into signing the claims just to be left alone as being seen regularly talking with Israelis can prove very unhealthy. One would be easily pressed to ask, how can this be avoided or at least mediated in order to provide some feelings of permanence for the Jews residing past the Green Line. One would likely be more promising in asking how long before these actions by the Supreme Court removing Jewish residences start moving to the extremities of Israel such as the northern Galilee or the Negev in the south as that is more likely to occur before they finish with the Jews living and benefitting the lands of Judea and Samaria, as, with the Jews come opportunities for Palestinians, such as higher paying jobs than they would ever get from amongst other Arabs. One might be prone to suggest that the Supreme Court rulings and stealth building freeze seemingly supported by Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon which appears will last until United States President Obama leaves office and then it will depend on who is elected to the office and their desire to permit or prevent Jews living beyond the Green Line and supporting the letter of intents given Israeli Prime Minister Sharon by President George W. Bush which President Obama insisted was not binding on him and was placed in the waste bin with the Defense of Marriage Act and a slew of other bothersome items, both laws and regulations.

Some of the crowd of residents and concerned Jews gather to witness Beit El demolition and stand in support for those directly harmed by these acts at Beit El and those figuratively harmed simply through empathy and understanding of the pain of having your dreams of a new life in your own apartment rather than the continued condition of multi-generational homes where privacy is all but gone and many who had hopes as these apartments brought needed residential space but such hopes are now dashed and broken concrete.

This reign of horror will end when the Israeli public give their support to a party whose head on the ticket has set themselves apart by actively desiring to have the necessary confrontation with the Israeli Supreme Court and bring the Supreme Court under the domain of the Knesset and thus answerable to the people of Israel. This will most likely demand that Israel finally establish a Constitution which will make a change in the entirety of the Israeli government potentially restructuring every office from Prime Minister, President, even the Knesset and the methods in which all these positions are chosen. This solution to numerous problems which have begun to be discussed by the public including not solely the dictatorial usurious power grab by the Supreme Court to making the politicians directly responsible and answerable to the people and not only their party elites which has frozen Israeli politics for the past two decades while the population had changed drastically. My personal preferred idea would to make the Knesset the upper house in a bicameral legislature where the Knesset would be made up of seventy-five members chosen by the parties as is currently the manner to choose them and another forty-five chosen by nine areas divided by a set of equations which take into consideration population densities and purely geographic land area by a complex computerized algorithm formulated by a committee meeting every decade and formulating a new variant or keeping with what worked well last time and then crunched and drawn by a computer thus making the formulation of the algorithm still leaving some doubts how the equation will be interpreted by the computer as anybody who has done programs will tell you the machines can be difficult partners often not doing what one expected or even required. The other house would be directly elected by districts made through districts defined by population size with each of forty-five districts receiving two delegates and ten chosen by popular election of the whole of Israel. These districts will be drawn by computers under a program which demands that the total circumference length for all districts when totaled be the smallest total possible combined with each district being made as small as possible nearest the largest population centers. This may sound impossibly complicated but in this age of computers why not utilize them to our best advantage and allow them to make decisions which will affect the makeup of the governance while keeping it removed from manipulations which might favor one political view over others. As to how to choose the Prime Minister, that might be a problem but perhaps the Knesset chooses a candidate and the other house need approve it with a super-majority of around sixty-percent of the representatives. By the way, yes, I have been told I have an affinity for complexities. This is why I will not be amongst those deciding such things if for no other reason than my proclivities as that I have no political standing within Israeli politics beyond that of my wife voting in a similar manner as I have and when debate over differences charge forth I usually retreat and pray I take minimal damage to my ego and other parts.

Where Israel will find the person willing to withstand the firestorm which is all but guaranteed to follow the placing of such a person in as Prime Minister will likely be asking for the impossible, it may just require a person declaring their desire to retool the entire political make-up of the State of Israel and bring it out of the middle Twentieth Century and into the dawn of a new era which will include sufficient diversity, agility, imagination, use of technology and inspirational innovations such that it will have the potential of lasting well into the Twenty-Second Century, and I do mean the Twenty-Second Century. Where Israel might seek to find somebody capable and willing to suffer the Shakespearean sling and arrows of unfriendly and outrageous misfortune (lots of literary and potentially unfortunate license) is a question beyond this editorialist ability to know or even approaching a guess. The one thing I can feel assured about is whoever might be such a person, they will never have claimed while leading their party into the elections that they are not yet ready to assume the position of Prime Minister.

In closing, the recent destruction of the buildings in the midst of their construction under order by the Supreme Court and the refusal to entertain evidence of completed licensing and other required paperwork having been completed as the Supreme Court must never be second guessed and their decisions must never be challenged successfully no matter who gets harmed; especially if it is the Israelis living beyond the Green Line. And I cannot help but ask if this is actually a preplanned series of decisions being pursued in order to remove every last Israeli from beyond the Green Line in order to give everything to the Arab Palestinians thinking this would end the terrorism and other difficulties and satisfy the Europeans detractors while ignoring the reality that the only settlement the Arab Palestinians will accept has to be far beyond the minimalist Europeans as their statement from their charter in 1964 when the PLO was formed. There were no occupied or contested lands at that time and the only target was Israel, all of Israel, and Israel itself which remains the only acceptable point the Arab Palestinians will continue to accept. That is why the chant that is heard on colleges and universities campuses throughout the western world at anti-Israel, often claiming to be pro-Palestinian, demonstrations goes, “From the (Jordan) River to the (Mediterranean) Sea; Palestine must be free.” Any more questions?

There was a time when being an American Jew also meant being supportive of Israel. Now such feelings are almost exclusively held by Jews well above fifty. For the millennials and later the best Israel can hope for is neutrality based on complete apathy with their concerns being for relatives who they more often than not make offers to assist them moving to the United States even arranging for employment and housing and then being confused when their parents, uncles, aunts, grandparents and occasionally brothers and sisters refuse. Yes, there are still remnants of Zionists, mostly religious Zionists, who are making their plans currently to make Aliyah and others who are caring for elderly parents or grandparents and will make Aliyah when their care is no longer required. The vast majority of Synagogues have little if any pro-Israel programs and one is far more likely to find Evangelical Christians having events supportive of Israel than the average synagogue. In some Reform Synagogues and leftist liberal Jewish organizations one is far more likely to find programs petitioning against Israel, support for the BDS movement and actual Jewish organizations such as Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) that largely favor complete boycotts of everything Israeli and support the ‘Right of Return’ for five million Arabs who claim to be refugees from 1948 war of annihilation started by at least a half dozen Arab armies the morning that Israel became a nation. They see no need for Israel to remain Jewish and believe that Israel as a multicultural nation just like the United States would be preferable to the continuation of what they view as a fascist and oppressive Jewish supremacist state. There was an Israel Channel 2 News in-depth report this past weekend featuring anchorman and reporter Danny Kushmaro examining the Jews from JVP and their animosities and reasons for turning against Israel with such feelings vilifying the Jewish State and my summation was they see Israel as being too Jewish and not sufficiently politically correct and fully supportive of leftist causes. Embedded below is this report which lasts about fifteen minutes and is filled with interviews and information revealing their feelings and what they view as Israel’s shortcomings and failures.

Having made my Aliyah after a long discussion with aged parents who assured me they preferred I make Aliyah while I was ‘still young enough’ to enjoy Israel and as such I may hold some insights which I can share from my life often spent in a transient nature constantly moving across the width and breadth of the United States and meeting Jews either in or from virtually every state at some point and having spent time with numerous and varied synagogues. The following are my experiences and should not be taken as typical without also asking other Olim from the United States as most of my life was spent in towns and small cities with limited Jewish population, some where I was the first Jew to reside in certain really small places. The odd thing is even in these places I found there were, what I like to refer to as, stealth Jews who approached me privately and pleaded I keep their confidence. In their assessments, which were accurate, they figured that I would not be remaining very long as I seemed to be a restless spirit. They were correct and the reason was as simple as it was accurate; I seemed to be seeking a place where the Jewish community was of a similar attitude as myself. The truth I can refer to is that such did not exist in my travels as, almost to a ‘T,’ the congregations all had their few who were pro-Israel amongst a sea of at best apathy and at the worst animosity, placed Israel as one of their most dear and important issues, and who still remembered and strongly believed the lamentations of Psalm 137, also called the “Song of Babylon”, in particular the more benign but heartfelt first six lines which read:

137:1 By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down, yea, we wept, when we remembered Zion.

137:2 Upon the willows in the midst thereof we hanged up our harps.

137:3 For there they that led us captive asked of us words of song, and our tormentors asked of us mirth: ‘Sing us one of the songs of Zion.’

137:4 How shall we sing the Lord’s song in a foreign land?

137:5 If I forget thee, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget her cunning.

137:6 Let my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth, if I remember thee not; if I set not Jerusalem above my chiefest joy.

I usually had to look far and wide to find fellow Jews who believed in being capable of taking responsibility of their own defense and not relying on the state, enlightened Jews who knew about Ze’ev Jabotinsky and had learned the lesson that no matter how egalitarian, how initially accepting, how incorporated into the various professions throughout the society, how assimilated the Jews had become, and how much they believed that, “It can’t happen here,” such was the large mistake the German Jews and the other Jews of Europe in the mid-1930s made and their refusal to believe things were heading south when the lists of registered firearms from the Weimar Republic were referenced by the Nazis for early use by the government to confiscate weapons, initially from Jews and other minorities and political groups they opposed and finding out far too late that those who had warned of the coming eclipse of life, as they had known was a definitive signal that the end was approaching. Even amongst the small minority of Jews who would seek me out at functions or services and confess their conservative views and even their membership in the Republican Party, a faux pas extraordinaire in virtually every non-Orthodox Synagogue which are all one can find in all too many locations outside the major cities, east and west coast states, as well as Ohio and Illinois. In the majority of congregations which I either joined or visited for a period of time before the differences became too uncomfortable for all, had there been Jews who wished to have the Rabbi perform a same-sex marriage there would have been little if any problems and such would be viewed as acceptable to hold such in the Synagogue using the same main hall where services were held on those occasions when sufficient numbers were expected such as weddings, Bar and Bat Mitzvah services and the High Holidays as the congregation was accommodating and would be shocked should anybody find such use of the synagogue to be beyond acceptable accommodations. Where I have absolutely no problem with somebody with such proclivities as long as they remained Torah observant and did not act on their sexual urges, just as all Jews must guard against overindulgences and other forbidden sexual territories, but a same-sex marriage was taking acceptance too far though I held my tongue and simply skipped any services held that day.

The standing mitzvah which was the highest observance was their interpretation of Tikkun Olam which largely was interpreted as fighting global warming, fighting perceived persistent racial discrimination, healing society from and wiping out all vestiges of white privilege, amending social class differences, and above all else, voting for Democrats with blind and dedicated obedience. Nothing has brought their disregard not only for Israel, but also for the United States and perhaps the entirety of the free world with their inability to watch the unfolding events in the world or even in their own nation. The problem actually goes beyond any description or understanding. It almost appears as when it comes to voting many in the population vote for their party no matter whom the candidate is or who the opposing candidate is and when it comes to other than either of the two main parties it is as if the others do not even exist. Much of the blame goes to the media and particularly to the mainstream media as they are totally in the box for the Democrats and if not the Democrats, then for the Republicans. It is understandable how and why the United States breaks down to a two party system which is a direct result of their choosing the President basically in a direct vote and the requirement that they gain greater than fifty percent of the electorate rather than simply a plurality. This has worked just as much due to the requirement that the winner must attain fifty percent plus one of the Electoral College votes and not just a plurality of the electoral votes. This problem was brought to the fore when Ross Perot took a fairly large percentage of the voting and still had minimal impact on the Electoral College though Perot may have influenced the result in some states causing them to go from one of the major parties to the other party. There will be debates for another decade when this subject is discussed by the relative few who are informed and knowledgeable but when compared to the entirety of the eligible voters, but then barely over half even bother to vote, these so informed are but a small and impotent of voters due to their lacking numbers but that may be changing. George Washington, the United States first President and second elder spokesperson after Benjamin Franklin, warned about the evils and machinations of political parties in his farewell address (which can be read here)which was delivered to the media and leaders of the day on September 19, 1796. The most quoted of lines from this dissertation are, “The alternate domination of one faction over another, sharpened by the spirit of revenge natural to party dissention, which in different ages & countries has perpetrated the most horrid enormities, is itself a frightful despotism. But this leads at length to a more formal and permanent despotism. The disorders & miseries, which result, gradually incline the minds of men to seek security & repose in the absolute power of an Individual: and sooner or later the chief of some prevailing faction more able or more fortunate than his competitors turns this disposition to the purposes of his own elevation, on the ruins of Public Liberty.”

There was a time before the great world wars and possibly even after where the public was not only knowledgeable on the every discussions and issues of their day and now the average voter honestly, whether they are aware of it or not, vote exclusively along party lines and in many cases are voting for the values the party might have arguable held decades before and had long since moved on in their trip to whichever end they favor as long as it is to an ever increasingly invasive governing of our daily lives with slightly different results and endgame. In Europe, despite there being dozens upon dozens of parties, the differences from the two extremes would not even test the bounds of one of the American political parties, both extremes in Europe are just reminders to Americans of where their party has transgressed on its inevitable end vision of government and their role in serving and controlling, an emphasis on controlling as both parties support any legislation which places ever greater control and monitoring of individual’s actions and approved views. Truth is you can harbor any thoughts you desire as long as you never act upon them.

Try to challenge the status quo and see how fast the government inspectors are snooping around your property and giving you ten days’ notice to have this repaired, painted, replaced, cleaned or whatever they can dream up. Before long you start to desire moving someplace where your name is far more anonymous. Successfully gain ballot access for Federal United States House of Representatives and win a number of points in meet the candidates functions in Churches, Synagogues, recreation centers and any other rally where an informal debate is held and you end up being refused place on the televised debates ten days before the election and when you get a hearing in court you walk in and the judge rules that your chosen representative may not address the hearing and the panels siting at the other tables, one for each major party, there are seated a representation of the State’s Attorney General’s office lawyers to bring witness against you and you get a real sinking feeling that if you had gained more traction they would have buried you, quite literally. With the onslaught of inspectors one has basically two choices, one is accept every summons stating you have anywhere from ten working days to as much as a month to rectify the problem the inspector claims to have found, and some of the “repairs” would require hiring a contractor to make actual physical changes to one’s residence, which gets even trickier if you are renting, or one can actually face them down by first walking them back off of your property and onto the sidewalk or street which demarks your property line and then require that they show you the exact particular problem and as they take that first authoritative, now I have the initiative back, step onto your property you stop them dead with an immediate verbal demand that they, “Please remove yourself from my property.” Should they ignore your request repeat it and ask if this will require the State Sheriff’s Office or will they comply with your demand to vacate your property immediately. Once they are back on the sidewalk or wherever you then repeat that they show you the problem and no matter how obvious the situation you just continue to not see what it is they are complaining about. When they try to gain entry to your property again you politely ask if they have a warrant. They will not have such so you simply hold to your Constitutional rights to keep your property inviolate without proper warrant. Any signed piece of paper other than a warrant is simply a useless piece of paper and warrants are most often accompanied by a police officer to enforce compliance. After the elections, unless you are a real glutton for punishment or have a real drive to buck the system and prove you’re actually the answer to the two party system, and especially if there is a family crisis requiring you to be elsewhere, moving is definitely the easiest solution to stop the inspectors because once they have your address they will never lose it and be back right on que every year, especially if a large puddle of water follows every rainstorm in your front yard, they will be right there to threaten to write you up for a potential wetlands hearing. Fortunately the parade of the heartache ends soon after the election either way, if you lose they go back to ignoring you unless they get a real hard dislike to you and if you win, they desire keeping their job and you have such power to affect that status when you win.

Running for Federal office can and will give you insights to the political system and the first item you will learn, if you present a solid and appealing presentation of ideas, is that the two parties are actually so cooperative and often same sides of a coin and may even take up both sides of that coin such that the election is mostly meaningless. The only way the system will change is if more people run as third party, meaning no party which is best if you can manage that plus was the desire of George Washington who warned of the inherent evils of political parties, and the electorate begins to take notice and the political landscape returns to having an attentive and informed electorate which turns out to vote in numbers approaching or exceeding seventy-five to eighty percent in off-year elections and the public knows, understands and have debates amongst themselves and vote their minds, their hearts if necessary, and never settle for a candidate who does not agree with at the least sixty percent of the issues and completely on your three or four most important and meaningful particulars at the very least. Unfortunately such an electorate will require forty-years-wandering-the-dessert until all of the offending generation, with a few notable exceptions such as the two spies, Caleb and Joshua, who brought back optimistic and supportive reports out of the twelve spies, one from each tribe, went and gave witness to the Promised Land while the other ten told about a land full and bountiful but also included cities with towering walls manned by giant men of formidable strength who would be unbeatable by the Hebrews. They ignored the promise that Hashem would give them the lands if only they made the effort. For the sin of not believing and for allowing the rumors and timorous reports of the few to sap their will and faith in Hashem to fulfill His promises, they spent forty-years wandering the desert until only the next generation born outside of slavery was ready to take possession of the Promised Lands.

Meanwhile, the approximately three-quarters of Jews who voted for President Obama twice, both in 2008 and again in 2012, have either no knowledge of or are completely comfortable with a President who refuses to be seen with the leader of Israel in front of the media, insists the Prime Minister of Israel enter the White House for their first meeting by a side delivery entrance, and who goes to every extreme to place Israel in a compromised position, makes a statement which he knows is a lie to AIPAC and then within eighteen hours makes a retraction calling an impromptu press conference just to make completely sure that everybody knows he “misspoke” and did not mean what he said in his speech about Jerusalem and who has taken the Arab Palestinian side in-toto as his position on negotiations over disputed lands claiming Israel has no claim to these lands. President Obama’s statement and complete backing in heart even if not in vote as the United States Ambassador to the United Nations after vetoing a resolution against Israel and recognizing the Palestinian undisputed right to all of Judea and Samaria and sixty-percent of Jerusalem held a press conference where she announced that she, and implying the administration, actually agreed completely with the resolution but political pressures prevented their supporting it in the Security Council as a Chapter Seven binding resolution but would work towards the stated end in that resolution through actions taken in the Middle East. It could reasonably be believed that well over fifty-five percent of Jews would vote for President Obama again if he could legally run. The Jews in the United States as a whole care little to nothing for Israel and believe Israel should become a multicultural haven just like the United States and when informed that such would result in it becoming an Arab run state where the Jews would be persecuted, forced to leave, or murdered; they claim that would be a better result than allowing Israel to remain a, and I quote from the video above, “A Jewish supremacist State.” This is completely the opposite of the views of the Jews in 1967 when Jews dropped everything and watched the unfolding of the Six Day War in amazement and with pride that this was their people, this was Eretz Yisroel, their promised lands. I guess I was amongst the last of those Jews who I did finally find; they were all here in Israel.

The BDS (Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions)Movement claims to be a grass roots institution simply out to make the world understand the cruelty and inhuman treatment the Israelis foist upon the Arabs and how Israel has its designs on stealing everything through the settlements grabbing up all the Arab lands. About the only thing they do not purport is that Israel is guilty of its seeking a ‘Greater Israel’ which is a reference to the lands granted to Abraham would include everything from the Euphrates River to the Nile River. That is just another libelous accusation made through twisting the words in Torah or some of the accompanying volumes of books of commentary on the Torah, Bible (Old Testament) and even volumes of books commenting on the commentary which in turn have books commenting on those commentaries. When your religion has been around for over three-thousand years you tend to gather a whole lot of commentaries and directives which certain subgroups within Judaism hold sacred and live by them some unbelievable strictly and others close enough. The one thing you are most certainly guaranteed is that any subject you wish to choose you will very likely find Jews in some commentary arguing for the proposed view you seek. Sometimes the position is one actually followed by some group of Jews and other times the person takes that unfavorable side simply to play devil’s advocate and provide challenges to another presumed wise person who abides by the opposing argument. So what we end up having are some commentaries made not as an argument or presumed hope of them being followed but being used as a tool to push some to complete their arguments and frame their discourse more succinctly and more accurately. When somebody comes to you and claims that the Talmud instructs the Jews to do something that sounds somewhat ridiculous or not at all Jewish from what you have observed, then it is most likely one of those Devil’s advocate arguments, which in itself is an odd way to argue when one considers that traditional Judaism does not believe in the Devil or fallen angels and Hell; but that will need to wait for another time when I have been taught Torah and some of those commentaries no matter how obscure.

The BDS movement and idea has really been in the news in Israel lately and for good reason. First we had the arch-terrorist Jibril Rajoub (a.k.a. Abu Rami) whose first position within Fatah was to organize and take part in activities in and around Hevron to the detriment of the Jews; this was presumably his responsibility in efforts to end the so-called occupation. In 1968 he was arrested for aiding Egyptian officers in making their way back to Egypt without being caught by the Israeli authorities for which he spent four months in prison. He was only sixteen at this time but still well on his way. While in prison he was influenced and joined Fatah which after serving his prison sentence he took up his assigned duties. In September of 1970 his future terror prospects looked very dim as he was caught and arrested for lobbing a grenade at an Israeli army bus near Hebron. Jibril Rajoub was tried and found guilty leading to his being sentenced to life in prison. Well, obviously he did not remain there as in 1985 he was part of a one-thousand-one-hundred-fifty prisoner release in exchange for three Israeli hostages held by the PFLP terror group. His colorful history had him arrested for minor offences, all things considered, and served additional time in prison before being expelled into Lebanon from where he found his way to Tunisia where he worked closely as an aid to the most infamous of the Arab arch-terrorists, Yasser Arafat. As part of the Oslo Accords he was granted a new lease on continuing his efforts to destroy Israel and this past week he played that position to the maximum. As the Palestinian Football Association President presiding over soccer teams he also took the opportunity at the FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association or in English International Federation of Association Football) 65th annual Congress which met in Switzerland to announce his intentions to push for Israel to be unlisted and booted from the football world’s governing body which would have denied Israel the right to play in any FIFA tournament or to even play against FIFA teams. Such a ban would probably have mushroomed to other sports and made Israeli athletes persona non grata in the world of sports. Jibril Rajoub played his filing in the media like a trained professional instigator by his alternately claiming he would file the motion and then retract that statement only to deny he had detracted the statement and the world was all titillated watching every nuanced move orchestrated for maximum coverage, and boy did he get coverage. Some might ask what does an Arab Palestinian Authority official have to do with the BDS movement which is a grassroots organizations with no actual structure, simply they have supporters and volunteer organizers and activists which is why the BDS movement does not have official offices or accounts in any banks or financial institutions as there are no payrolls or anything nefarious like an international structure which coordinates the events and spends millions of dollars, Euros, Pounds or whatever currency of the realm is required. We will get to the connection, be patient please. The eventual end to the Jibril Rajoub staged a well-orchestrated routine where he did not file as he was aware from the very beginning that he would not have sufficient support to get Israel banned, but it did give some demonstrators the opportunity to burst into the meeting hall and throw red flags at the Israeli representatives and chant some call to boot Israel from soccer. These were presumably grassroots BDS supporters who just happened to all appear on the same day at the same time replete with red flags to throw at the Israeli delegation and so conveniently so as to garner more press coverage of the idea that Israel was subversive even to something as pure and good as soccer. Never mind the other woes FIFA is suffering right now as everybody knows that soccer is the one sport that united the world, well, apparently except for Israel? Well, not quite as Israel is still a member, a respected member of FIFA.

Right on the heels of the FIFA fiasco was the British National Union of Students (NUS) voting to boycott all things Israel including every Israeli company without regard to its location because the BDS movement is growing and realizing the reality that it is not the settlements alone that are the problem, it is the existence of Israel itself and that the Jewish State must be brought down and the Jews punished for existing at all, and to even strive and believe themselves worthy of a state of their own, how nineteenth century is that? They filed Motion 518a which was titled “Solidarity with Palestine: Boycott, Divestment & Sanctions” which was tabled. The NUS was the same body which refused to take any measures to boycott or even denounce ISIS at their meetings last year but Israel needs to be brought low. The vote and everything about the BDS movement at the NUS conference was denounced and voided by the Universities UK which is the actual ruling body and has the sole power in areas such as the BDS protests and any divestments, sanctions or boycotts (did I get that all in the wrong order, shame on me for ignoring the BDS name). In a press release the Universities UK stated “firmly opposes academic boycotts on the basis that they are inimical to academic freedom, including the freedom of academics to collaborate with other academics.” They continued emphatically emphasizing “Given the reported perception in Israel that UK universities support an academic boycott. The board of Universities UK wishes to confirm its previously stated position that it is firmly opposed to any academic boycott of Israeli universities.” They added just to make sure everybody understands their position and displeasure with the NUS grandstanding and offensive behavior in this matter stating that, “The board also confirms its view that all universities must uphold, in the interests of free expression of ideas, the fundamental right of academics to question national and international policies.” That put that BDS effort to bed once and for all for this year, it will return next year.

Finally we had the little BDS confusion at Orange where their CEO Stephane Richard made comments after receiving pressures from BDS activists in Europe and especially from Egypt as well which cause Stephane Richard to panic and immediately turn to the usual European response when anti-Semites challenge their position on the ‘Jews and their little nation’ Stephane Richard simply agreed and denounced Israel claiming that Orange would break off their agreement with Partner Communications, the Orange affiliate in Israel, except that it would be costly due to potential lawsuits being filed in those unfriendly Israeli courts who would condemn Orange despite any evidences provided claiming they don’t really hate the Jews. For the week following the outspoken and base hatred expressed by Orange CEO Stephane Richard, we have now been serenaded as is Stephane Richard is planning in asking for Israel’s hand in marriage. We have heard what a lovely nation Israel is and how important our good relations are to Orange in general and CEO Stephane Richard in particular. The apology has been laid on like a thick, rich layer of whipped cream atop a luscious ice cream Sunday with three flavors of ice cream and rich chocolate and caramel heated nice and hot poured all over the top until it pooled at the bottom. We must all wonder if next week that Orange CEO Stephane Richard will be buying Israel a beautiful bouquet of roses or will it be an outlandish floral arrangement containing no less than one-hundred flowers, bouquet so large it will take their large truck to deliver the flowers. Actually, it would be best if everyone would stop with the hypocrisy and just let everything lie and it will pass. All the backtracking and false compliment and flattery is getting old and stale faster than they are delivered. A simple ‘We’re sorry but we panicked’ would have sufficed as the Israelis have seen worse than this and even in the past couple of weeks.

Now that we have taken a quick look-see of the BDS movements activities for the last couple of weeks one can realize that whoever is financing this effort worldwide has some very deep pockets. The reality is that the financers of these BDS efforts are constantly claiming to be out of money and being unable to pay their employees and if billions, if not trillions of Euros, dollars, Pounds Sterling, Pecos, Ruble, Wan or any other currency and denomination and need it immediately. The BDS movement used to have another name and was started in 1948 around May 14th oddly enough. The original system of boycotting, divesting and sanctioning Israel was the Arab League boycott and Arab League blacklist. The boycott is obvious and the blacklist was a long list of companies which either used Israeli provided parts in their products or were otherwise entangled with Israeli interests. For quite a while the Arab League required that every shipment brought into their nations had to sign an affidavit stating that none of the products had Israeli parts and that their company had no relationship including selling to Israel. This eventually caused a problem as that would have meant that the Arab nations would not be able to buy most weapons systems, especially from the United States and many companies in Europe.

There was one particular article which revealed much about the BDS movement on Arutz Sheva titled Who is Really Behind BDS? We Can Cut Off BDS at the Spigot”. Here are a few of the more vital quotes which will fill in much of the debate about the BDS movement and after which I will attempt to give some additional information. Much of the article was items many of us realized and knew but the placing them all in a coherent and cognizant manner drew the big picture beautifully. I would advise that we all read the article itself at the link above as the author was quite complete as he traced the history and the current modus operandi of a terrorist organization using political means to further their financially based efforts to isolate Israel as well as politically and socially isolating Israel making even giving minimal support in some meaningless conversation to be an unforgivable sin and breach of polite behavior. What is sickening is how many Jewish groups are out there using very enticing and misleading names who almost exclusively back the BDS movement and are themselves working to destroy Israel. They use Lawfare which is using the courts to attack Israel and tie up any pro-Israel groups in the courts fighting against suits brought merely as nuisances but they are effective in forcing these groups supporting Israel spending inordinate amounts of time defending themselves from the attacks and thus not protecting Israel in the media and through other programs. This was the modus operandi of the IRS auditing an astounding number of conservative or libertarian groups during the year and a half before the 2012 elections thus preventing these groups from campaigning. Many of these groups were small Tea Party groups who made the mistake of calling themselves ‘Pleasant Valley Tea Party Association’ which got them immediate and in depth invasive IRS auditing and slowing requests for tax exempt status where the questions got to the point of being ludicrous, but they did prevent them from campaigning against President Obama, the same tactic appears to be used against many pro-Israel groups.

The article pointed out that “The Arab league spokesman confirmed that all data of the Arab League boycott and Arab League blacklist has now been transferred to BDS, working under the control of each PLO legation in more than 100 countries, under the supervision of the PLO Negotiations Department, which coordinates activities with the central offices of the Palestinian Authority.” This is one of the driving reasons that Mahmoud Abbas desires to become a recognized entity and thus allow the Arab Palestine Authority to open embassies and consulates in every nation and major city worldwide. This is important as the article points out the manner as to how the BDS movement is financed when they pointed out, “Since supervision of funds for Palestinian humanitarian services in the PA or UNRWA hardly exists, and since more than one nation provides cash for each of the Palestinian humanitarian services, that means that a cash surplus exists which PA can allocate for BDS activists to finance their operations.” This allows the Arab Palestinian Authority to distribute cash funds to their BDS organizers, instigators, activists and also pay for the establishment of on campus BDS groups who keep up the defamation of Israel year round and often make life on campus for anybody outwardly Jewish to become a living nightmare as they are heckled and hassled everywhere they go on campus and in some instances the harassment reached the point of violence against the Jews much like when the Jews were removed and disallowed from holding teaching positions or attending universities in the late 1930s in Germany.

There are two related statements about the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) not ratifying the OSLO Accords and thus being free to act in any manner they wished and not be in violation of the Oslo Accords as they had never ratified the treaty. It was the PLO and Yasser Arafat’s way of crossing his fingers so he could say anything without actually completing the deal and complying with the agreements. The first points out how the public have never been informed of this treachery and deceit despite their once being well known but now not referenced or taught and thus forgotten by most the first commentary pointed out that even a far leftist organization and media outlet found this behavior reprehensible. The article states, “Only three weeks after the Oslo Accords were initialed on the White House lawn on September 13, 1993, pending ratification by both sides, a prominent left wing journalist, Pinchas Inbari, reporting for the Mapam (Meretz) newspaper Al Hamishmar from the PLO headquarters in Tunis, reported that PLO leader Yassir Arafat announced that on the day of the scheduled PLO ratification, October 6, 1993, the PLO leader could not or would not convene the necessary quorum for ratification. As a result, the Oslo Accords have gone unratified to this day.” The point that the people were never really made aware of the perfidy committed by Yasser Arafat and Mahmoud Abbas, his second in command, as they point out that, “What has escaped public attention is that the PLO never ratified the ‘declaration of principles’, the most fundamental document of the Israel-Palestinian Oslo Accords, nor did the PLO ever cancel its charter to destroy Israel, which was another major clause in that accord.” The basic truth is that for the entire time since September of 1993 when the Oslo Accords were formally put in place, Yasser Arafat and Mahmoud Abbas and the rest of the executive council of the PLO and thus of the newly established Palestinian Authority (PA or as we refer to them because they are no different than the Arabs residing or fleeing Syria as well as the Arabs of Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Iran, the Arab Palestinian Authority) were recognized of representing an organization which did not actually exist as the Oslo Accords were never signed by the Arab side. The Western nations went along with this facade because the alternative was too horrible for them to even consider, support the Jews and Israel in retaining all the lands promised them by treaty that the Europeans and United States as well as the League of Nations and subsequently the United Nations such that the treaties which affect the defined borders of Israel are the actual International Laws thus everything else is some weird manifestation of anti-Semitism, anti-Israel, and anti-Zionism. The BDS financial system is known fully well by the Western nations and the Arab nations as they both pour trillions of Euros, dollars, however you wish to measure the financial cesspool the Arab Palestinian Authority and related groups such as Fatah, Hamas, Islamic Jihad, PLO, PFLP (Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine), and numerous other groups and families all benefit from this inflow on monies as long as they are sufficiently high enough in the pecking order that they are trusted to use at least a pittance of the cash allotted you to spend on the betterment of the Arab suffering if it is not too much of a problem.

The reality is that much of the monies sent to the Arab Palestinian organizations is siphoned off for use in the multi-billion dollar BDS organizational leaders, activists, organizers, and antagonists who all need funding in order to achieve their assigned goals. The full time BDS representatives and leadership that exist on almost every campus and in every city where there exists an Arab Palestinian consulate, embassy, or simply an office, they become the cash delivery resource who are sent probably funding in the millions if not more to finance the BDS movement activities in their assigned region. Such items as fees for using a park grounds for a demonstration, the signs, banners and other items do not simply appear out of the thin air, the microphones, bullhorns, whistles, speakers, tables, literature and everything else which goes into a successful week long demonstration on a university or college campus. These Arab Palestinian Authority outlets, be they embassies, consulates or merely offices and in some cases a completely underground operation, all are used as the pipelines to the BDS main middle managing organizers, publicists, media contact point people, marshals, and such cannot afford to fly to Ramallah every month for their allowance as that just might draw some international attention, though maybe I am giving the world too much credit as the world often appears to be capable of not seeing any of the thousands of rockets fired into Israel at civilian targets and only see the Israeli response and demand Israel stop its aggressions while saying nothing about the rockets, ambush tunnels and expanding use of young children as makeshift bullet proof vests. One has to grant that having a four year old screaming while strapped to one’s chest during a firefight is beyond the cusp and right into the deep recesses of evil insanity which permits such irreverence for life. Meanwhile we have the PLO organized, Fatah manned and Arab Palestinian Authority (PA) financed BDS movement which is simply an extension of the original Arab boycott and blacklist of companies ‘contaminated’ by Israeli exposure. The BDS movement is the PLO terrorist group’s attempt to take their economic war against Israel worldwide and as we have seen in these quotes and these actions that the BDS movement pushes a complete isolation of Israel in all venues including goods and services, music performances, academics, speeches by Israel supporters must be forced to cancel and finally politically isolated until Israel has been diminished and dies a natural death as any living, breathing, compassionate human entity would if left in complete isolation not permitted any interaction and starved of life’s necessities.

Fortunately there are sufficient numbers of leaders and strong willed people that are fighting the BDS syndrome by simply acting and being humane and human. Israelis and their government are finally wakening to the damage caused by the BDS movement and other related groups and hopefully there are those who can at least dry up much of the Western monies from financing BDS forcing the dictatorial rulers in the Middle East to pay for all of the BDS. But this fight is far more than just the BDS movement or even the government financed groups which excoriate Israel ranting about the worst treatment or how the Israelis treat the people held hostage and starved in Gaza. Let’s use this as the example. Gaza received two thirds of their electricity and all their drinking water from Israel and Israeli companies are not paid by the Arab Palestinians or their governing representatives. That is but the tip of the situation. Any nations wishing to provide goods for Gaza may do so as long as there are no dual use items or actual weapons included in their shipment and the Israelis will deliver every ounce of it into Gaza for Hamas, Islamic Jihad, the PLO or the PA to distribute. Additionally, Israel provides tens of truckloads of food, medical supplies and other items daily even including every single day of last summer’s military operations in Gaza as nothing stops these transfers as the Israelis have no desire to have the people of Gaza suffer in any manner. Unfortunately for the residents of Gaza the same cannot be said for their governing entities. Often Israel had sent the trucks with food which is perishable if not taken and stored properly with some degree of immediacy. These truckloads were simply left in the sun to rot by the rulers in Gaza just so there would be an emergency and food shortage for visiting United Nations, European Union or whoever was scheduled to tour Gaza. Often during these inspections or visits the power lines from Israel are disconnected and once the parliament in Gaza covered their windows with blackout blankets and had photographers take pictures of their meeting in the darkness so they should have stories written about how the Israelis refused to provide sufficient electricity and they are forced to work in complete darkness. The blankets did not quite completely cover the windows and the bright sunlight outside could be seen in many of the pictures, but still there was an international hue and cry demanding that Israel fulfill their obligation to provide the electricity that the government in Gaza had paid for, despite their never having paid one single Agorot, let alone Shekels.
