My Guilty Verdict of Identity Political Sins

 

I awakened this morning realizing the horrid truth that I am an affront to identity political fears. Of all my sins, probably my most egregious is that I am a male. Not just male but also heterosexual. Well, I may as well admit to my further crimes, I am white as well. At least I do not fit the final box on the White, Male, Heterosexual privilege chart, I am not a true WASP as I am not Protestant. But as it turns out, I may be in an even worse category; I am a Jew, and not just a Jew but a Zionist and conservative Jew. I may as well admit it as it has cost me dearly in the past making me a pariah in more than one Synagogue across the fruited plains and both coasts as well. But I am even worse than the run of the mill White, Male, Heterosexual, Conservative, Religious and pro-Israel individual, I am proud of my guilt because I know that there is no real guilt to be had. The only true sin I have committed is not having any difficulty owning up to my presumed guilt and will gladly profess my preferences before my accusers. Of course this simply infuriates them further as they only gain advantage when people like me act ashamed and defensive to their accusations. Me, I simply revel in them and laughingly watch as those who would greedily stand pointing out my guilt over my groveling and writhing body on my face and begging forgiveness as they haughtily instruct me that I must confess my sins. They cannot utilize someone who refuses to beg and instead stands proudly before them stating that sure I am exactly what you accuse me of being, so what! That is the wrong stance and they are used to people that apologize for their sins, not reveling in them and using the identities as a badge of honor that it should be and not a sash of shame. I will not eat humble pie nor will I claim to be sorry for my accomplishments as I earned each and every one and none were simply given to me because of my so-called privilege.

 

You see I refuse to play by the rulebook of Identity Politics. This book states that in order to win every argument one only need accuse the other side of committing some unforgivable sin. The person is white or male or heterosexual or conservative or belongs to any group which can be cast as a majority, well, except being male as men are actually a minority. Their rules are to hit any sensitive spot where they can accuse you of being one of the deadly privileged kinds of personhood and if no prime example exists, then they just throw accusations until they hit a nerve. The accusations start with the obvious but let us say their adversary is someone such as Star Parker who is an American syndicated columnist, Republican politician, conservative political activist, author and very attractive (see below). Her disqualifying identity is that she is famous and even more unapologetic than I. They would strike her for being a known conservative and a Republican and those would be the last words they manage before she would tear them apart piece by piece. That is a side effect of proud and informed conservatives; we usually are not at a loss for words. But even those of us who are capable of giving as good as we get, if not better, is that we are defenseless against the current dilemma, the massive attacks such as are showing at Republican politicians’ town hall meetings.

Protesters exploded in anger after a chaplain prayed in the name of Jesus at a town hall meeting in Louisiana hosted by U.S. Sen. Bill Cassidy. They did just as decent, or should we say indecent, a job heckling at a decorated Viet Nam veteran when he attempted to recite the Pledge of Allegiance. The hecklers shouted things such as, “Pray on your own time. This is our time,” and “Amen. Let’s get on with it,” while others insisted, “Separation of church and state” and so on and so forth. Chaplain Sprague told the media, “I’ve never been shouted down throughout a time of prayer like that,” adding “I’ve never been in a situation like that. It’s sad there wasn’t honor and respect for God.” Cassidy said in remarks reported by the Times-Picayune, “Wow, they booed the name of Jesus.” Some mentioned that they were suspicious as to the origin of these disrupters as they claimed people from their area would never have acted in such a manner. Our sense was it had been noted that there were numerous vehicles which arrived early with out of state license plates which we found to be suspicious explaining why the event had been hijacked with some of the locals betting that the disrupters were likely paid for their disruptive and disgusting performances. Their providers likely should be happy as it appears they got their money’s worth.

 

 

This has been the recent explosion across the width and breadth of the United States at numerous conservative town hall meetings held by Republicans. These have been in concert with the events we spoke of in our article from yesterday titled, “The Left and Their Dream with the Shadow Government” where there have been concerted rioting taking place in major liberal cities and college campuses with many locations security personnel and police instructed to stand back and allow the “demonstrators” space to express themselves. In an event not too long ago where Milo Yiannopoulos was invited to give a performance or something at the University of California Berkley Campus where because he was perceived as a conservative speaker, he is more libertarian than conservative, there was a riot staged with the campus police instructed not to interfere resulting in over one-hundred-thousand-dollars damages to the campus before everything calmed. He was denied speaking so their actions were rewarded and this will serve Berkley, the birthplace back in the 1960’s of free speech, poorly and probably just serve to encourage a much larger disruption the next time anybody considered controversial is invited by anybody to appear.

 

All of these actions have been far from amusing and have served to reinforce that my making Aliyah was the correct action even though my doing so had nothing to do with American political scene, it was the result of a promise made to myself when I was quite young, nine to be exact. My wife probably would have preferred my informing her of this little item before we were married and the look on her face when I announced we were moving to Israel one evening in passing as if it was simply another casual remark. Her reaction was less than casual and in the end we made the trip and it has made us both quite happy to be here. She still holds dearly to her Americanism and the politics are a sort of interest though she does not dwell politics quite as I do. She spends more time socializing and having events with other ladies and groups, often dragging me along (well, not always dragging as I do enjoy many events and am going to pay for admitting this). Perhaps we can take less of a panicked look at events in the United States, at least far more relaxed than our friends still back there, especially those residing near and about the nation’s capital. That space allows for a more unattached review where things do not strike us as if it were right outside. For that we have our own set of political and other possibilities which take center stage over the events in America, as they should. Still, we at BTC still need to stay up to date on events back in the United States in order to write on them, so we still know and react to events, just do not need to worry if the demonstrations will be coming down our street or block our way to the store or wherever. As stated, for that we have our own difficulties from time to time.

Israeli Leadership Requires an Upgrade

 

Reading the Bible, Old Testament and particularly the Torah, it does not take long before one asks themselves where are the fighters for Eretz Yisroel as are told about in both the Torah and Bible. Just a quick list we find Abraham who likely was the first man to use special forces tactics and a nighttime attack somewhere between midnight and two in the morning to free Lot and his family from the slavers who had taken them captive. Where are those like Jacob who fought an Angel pretty much to a standstill or some might say overpowered the angel while receiving only one serious injury to himself. Then there is Moses who fought the Midianites, the Amalekites, brought forth water from a rock as a miracle from Hashem, taught the Torah to the Israelites and assisted the building of the Mishkan. Then there was Joshua, Deborah, Samson, King Saul, David and Solomon as well as many other heroes. Then there were the wise and fearless all of whom showed their courage, convictions and faith in Hashem and only then were they found worthy of Hashem’s miracles. Even the parting of the Red Sea (Sea of Reeds for you modern revisionists) would never had happened had not Nachshon, from the tribe of Judah, not only jumped into the sea but walked out until he was up to his nostrils and about to take a deep breath before the sea parted. This is one of the main truths from the Bible which today is summed up by the proverb; Hashem helps those who help themselves. We must take the first step and in some instances we take those steps and Hashem foils our efforts simply so that Hashem can display that it is Hashem who saves us and assists all that we do and all of it is in service of Hashem. This was proven during the last Gaza War when a rocket was tracked by an Iron Dome unit, those anti-missile and artillery intercepting batteries which shoot interceptor ultra-high speed missiles which strike and neutralize incoming rockets, missiles, mortars, artillery and anything else launched at Israel short range with over a 90% kill rate, which indicated it would strike central Tel Aviv business district in the area of the central train and bus stations where the high rise building are located thus a threat to tens of thousands should it strike. The actual words of the commanding officer of the Iron Dome officer after they had fired three times and missed the incoming rocket all three times, nearly impossible, he saw that, “Suddenly, Iron Dome (which calculates wind speeds, among other things) shows a major wind coming from the east, a strong wind that…sends the missile into the sea. We were all stunned. I stood up and shouted, ‘There is a G0d!’ I witnessed this miracle with my own eyes. It was not told or reported to me. I saw the hand of G0d send that missile into the sea.” We reported more on this miracle here. This battery proved they would act as they tried and tried and tried and in the end it was Hashem who saved Tel Aviv from an awful fate. Another thing I can tell you as one who fired anti-tank missiles for Uncle Sam, wind has a very marginal effect on a rocket or missile’s trajectory and a wind capable of redirecting a rocket to turn and a land mile off to the west from a northward trajectory would have really upset anything not nailed down in Tel Aviv including such minor things as busses and anything short of a locomotive and that would be debatable.

 

 

Hands of Hashem Lifting and Protecting the Innocent

 

 

So, where are we leading with all of these little stories and examples? We look at the Israeli leadership and they are always so fretting the reactions of the European Union, European governments, the United States Congress, the American President, the United Nations, Russia, Kathmandu, well maybe not Kathmandu as Israel is loved in Nepal after the aid hospital and search and rescue teams we sent to aid them after that horrific shaking that rumbled through that Himalayan country destroying the capital and many of the villages throughout the nation and Israel sent medical assistance even to small villages halfway up some rather impressively tall slopes. It is somewhat understandable that Israel does what it can to remain on good ground with the United States as they are a major, actually sole, provider of fighters and helicopters. This was at the time deemed a good idea when the United States offered to provide both F-15 and F-16 fighters if Israel would stop their design and production of the Lavi fighter Jet. The Lavi would have been a direct competitor with the F-16 and the United States probably figured they would rather have one less competitor in the fighter jet department so they offered Israel a really good deal and also promised they would make sure Israel maintained air superiority in the Middle East. Well, with F-15 JSF being sold to Egypt, Saudi Arabia and potentially Turkey and who knows who else such as, Heaven forbid, Iran; Israeli air superiority apparently is not going to be so guaranteed down the road in five or six years when these Arab nations have the same exact aircraft and more of them in each nation such as Egypt and Saudi Arabia. Still the Israeli leadership bends over backwards to please the United States and even please President Obama with the sole example of leadership coming when Prime Minister Netanyahu and every other Israeli political leader, even those from the opposition playing the loyal opposition which is something rare these days, with the opposition to the heinous Iran Nuclear Deal which will give Iran a path to nuclear weapons in at most twelve years and more likely eight years assuming they are not currently producing their second run of them using an even improved thermonuclear design given them by North Korea. Otherwise Israeli leadership bows and scrapes before virtually every other nation which demands Israel limit building homes for Jews in Jerusalem or Hevron or Bet El while also demanding that Israel both allow many Europeans to build residences for Palestinian Arabs in Areas which were forbidden them under the Oslo Accords but apparently the only nation bothering to obey treaty limitation is Israel and they are going even further and obeying limitation which supercede any treaty. Such fearfulness and timidity has not served Israel well as all it has done is encourage Europeans and the United States to demand more concessions and more concessions and even more where Israel simply bows and scrapes and almost mindlessly obeys as if such was in Israel’s best interests.

 

The question which must be asked and resolved by Israeli leaders is where has polite concession after concession gotten Israel. The answer is they have become a doormat which everybody steps on their way to ask almost reverently of Mahmoud Abbas what he would like Israel to gift him for the privilege of having him meet with them, shake hands with whatever Prime Minister Israel has elected and then spit in Israel’s face and walk away pocketing the concessions the European or American forced from Israel on their way home stepping once more on the doormat. This has cost Israel any respect they had ever gained through the years and watching the spineless actions whittle away any respect Israel might have had has been disheartening. Remembering the valor and will-do, which is one step more audacious than simply can-do, which was exhibited in such bold and daring missions such as the raid on Entebbe Airport to free hijack hostages and the stern pride exhibited by Prime Minister Menachem Begin whose resolve and respect he earned assisted in the making of a peace with Egypt. Then there were the great deeds which were actually committed by the likes of Prime Minister Netanyahu, Defense Minister Ya’alon back during their time in the IDF where they had committed deeds of a nature similar to that committed by the young soldier now being politically sacrificed before the court of political correctness and seemingly in anticipation of European and United Nations simply going “Tisk, tisk, you had better punish that man for killing the enemy who had already stabbed one soldier.” Israel is in a war and in wars you actually shoot your enemies with intent to kill them; but not Israel as we shoot them with rubber bullets or if we use real bullets we are to shoot their legs. Shooting terrorists in their legs already did not incapacitate one determined terrorist who after being shot in both legs, one of them twice, still managed to sink his hatchet into another victim which finally convinced the people with the guns to shoot him somewhere more vital and then he stopped swinging his hatchet at people and will never again commit such a heinous assault. That is the only way you prevent your enemy from ever killing your soldiers, and with these terrorist that includes your civilians who apparently are legitimate targets for the terrorists despite the terrorists being treated like an endangered species and their lives treated as more important. The Rules of Engagement (ROE) are upside down as when you have an enemy who is sworn to murder every last person in your country, and in the case of Hamas and Islamic Jihad they want to kill every Jew everywhere, you do not allow them to live for another day and try again. And as the same government who demands that the terrorists not be killed but disarmed and taken alive as that is the humane thing to do, war is not humane, and then trades over a thousand of these terrorists taken humanely in order to retrieve one single soldier, then it is better to not be quite so humane. There are those out there who will claim that I am a monster for even suggesting the killing of these poor unfortunate terrorists who are only acting against the occupation. There is no occupation unless you count the Arabs who are squatting on lands promised to the Zionist Congress as sacrosanct and guaranteed by the crown of England and by the League of Nations and theoretically also the United Nations according to Article 80 of the United Nations Charter. The leaders of the European nations, the members of the United Nations, the Americans and anybody else capable of reading knows already that Israel was defined as we stated in the article yesterday, Israel is all of Israel as defined by the San Remo Conference and other inclusive documents from the end of World War I. Not only the Middle Eastern and North African maps were completely redrawn but so was the map of Eastern Europe. It was not restricted to the Arab World as claimed by so many, and that marked pretty much the beginning of European colonial enterprises in the area which had been colonized by the Arab Muslims and their converted allies for over a thousand years before the Europeans ever arrived. The colonialism label is simply a guilt trip being laid on the European and the Western world in general.

 

Another item that the spineless leaders have allowed by not standing up against the false charges has been the claim that Israel is a colonizing power. Israel was formed from part of the British Mandate from which both Iraq and Jordan were also formed. If Israel is a colonizing power then so is Jordan and Iraq as all were made from the same British Mandate and then Syria and Lebanon also would be colonial powers as they were formed from the French Mandate. Israel is an indigenous peoples who have returned to their ancestral lands and were residing in the lands south of the Litany River through the Negev Desert and on both sides of the Jordan River and Sea of Galilee since approximately 1200 BCE with a continuous Jewish presence in areas of the land and definitely in Jerusalem with many centuries having a Jewish majority population in Jerusalem while Jerusalem was never the capital of any Arab or Muslim nation. The Israeli leadership should be as proud of their country returning to its homeland and making the deserts bloom, draining swamp lands and making them furtive and building a modern nation while under constant threat of war in the face of terrorism and seemingly ignoring all adversity to thrive. Israel because of her people was rated the eleventh happiest nation in which to live placing it ahead of the United States and obviously virtually all if not all of the Arab and Muslim worlds. Now we need to have leaders equally as happy to lead with the same esprit de corps that is so apparent in the people. Yes, Israel has its problems but the most threatening and dangerous of these challenges needs to be met with vigor and nerve and dare we say, chutzpah, and simply declare what we know to be true and our lands as originally defined; and if there are those who object, well, sucks to be them.

Problems, Problems, Problems

 

The world is in a state of flux, well, let’s be honest, the world is in a state of convulsions. The European Union has decided that perhaps the produce grown by the labors of the Jews who planted and tended their groves for well over twenty years just to receive their first fruits worth mention, grape vines tended carefully and the wines made by wineries which have won blue ribbons in France, the land of wine, recognizing their careful blending of grapes or choices of the very best of a single grape both of which rely on care from the very start of setting up your vines with great care and then pray that the weather is kind and provide the exact amounts of rain when needed and sunshine between the rains and lots of sun with the right temperatures for the grapes. Then the harvest must be timed for when the grapes are their plumpest and full of sugars and the exact chemistry to produce the perfect wines. From there the grapes must be pressed, filtered, blended and married with the perfect yeast and then aged to the perfect point for bouquet, color, clarity, texture, taste and complexity which will spark the imagination of the entire panel in France and beyond. But the years it took these agricultural based businesses are of no consequence and that International Law actually backs the Israeli claim to the lands, all the lands, between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea. The actions by the European Union also ignores their own better interests but are actually attempting to eat their cake and still have it. The European commissioner for research, innovation and science, Carlos Moedas, while visiting Israel earlier this month commented to Israeli President Rivlin, “I love this country. I hope the cooperation between Israel and Europe will increase. For us, and for our scientists, it is extremely important. During my tenure I hope to be here for you, because you have been here for us in terms of everything in science and innovation. I want to be a little bit of your voice in terms of the great people I have met here and the many innovators and entrepreneurs. The drive and energy that you have in this country to create businesses is unique and is an example to Europe. I am here to tell you that I hope this cooperation will increase. For us, and our scientists, it is extremely important.” It is good to know that there is at least some sanity remaining in Europe though the re-release of “Mein Kampf,” even with the certain explanatory commentary presumably intended to mitigate the ravings of a madman who captured Europe in an transfixed rage which destroyed their souls and their humanity only eighty odd years ago. One must wonder whether the rising anti-Semitism in Europe might not find solace and supportive arguments for their savage hatreds.

 

If Europe were the sole insanity, but alas, the world is not that kind as Iran with the favorable nuclear treaty granting them a path to nuclear weapons has started flexing their muscles. This became ever so obvious when Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) forced two United States Naval Vessels to surrender and allow the capture of both crews when one was on a rescue to assist a disabled ship when the two were swarmed (see video below). They timed this assault on a disabled craft but waited for the rescue ship to slow and stop before making their assault and with one ship disabled and the other engaged in preparation to tow thus maximizing the vulnerability of both vessels timing the capture for the same time to hold and display the captured and cowed sailors concurrent to President Obama’s final State of the Union Address. The Iranians released a picture which showed the female American Navy personnel wearing an Islamic style head covering sitting on the floor with the other captives (pictured below) all appearing the picture of helpless. It would not be surprising to find out that the American Naval Personnel were under orders not to open fire so as to avoid a “situation” which would spoil the President’s special day. The real question is if this was a drill, it would be interesting to know who ordered the training mission and gave the coordinates for the first vessel to stop and kill their engines and wait for rescue vulnerable to the waves and currents in which they were drifting. The Iranians have also increased their military involvement in Syria and are arming Hezballah with far more heavy weapons to use when fighting the rebels and the Islamic State. These forces have been incorporated and used to augment Russian efforts to harden and secure the areas around the Russian port in Latakia, Syria. These same weapons will continue to be used by Hezballah should, or more likely when, they open another assault against Israel with the one critical difference being that with Hezballah now can open a front against the Golan Heights as well as along the Lebanon border. Hezballah holding the Golan Heights even for one day would be ruinous to Israel and all Israelis residing in the northeastern and central northern Galilee as they would once again be vulnerable to sniper fire. But if these are not enough, what else can there be?

The world spins naturally on its axis while it revolves around the Sun which slowly makes its way around the Super Massive Black Hole at the center of the Milky Way which is going to collide with the Andromeda Galaxy potentially coinciding with the death of Sol, our sun, proving even in galactic events there can be multiple disasters befalling any planet as this did not mention what effect all of this will have on the various clouds of debris such as the, starting with the outermost cloud, the Ort Cloud moving towards the Sun we find the Kuiper Belt and finally the inside the orbit of Jupiter we find the Asteroid Belt and all of these are capable of shooting something towards the Sun and numerous objects of appreciable size cross the earth’s orbit both on their way in and again on their way out. The further out the object starts its trip, the faster it will be flying as it crosses the Earth’s orbit in either direction. The Comet Shoemaker–Levy 9 made its fantastic set of collisions with Jupiter leaving battle-scars in Jupiter’s outer gas cloud of which many were many times larger than the Earth (see below). This event amassed such attention that the United States Congress rode the wave and authorized a number of teams of cosmologists to search the heavens and map the paths of those objects which posed a potential threat of colliding with the Earth. Another group of scientists were commissioned to prepare emergency plans for dealing with such a menacing threat which could end all significant life on the surface of the planet. Of course the lawmakers sobered up and realizing that there was no manner of making the tedium of searching for any space threats to Earth mostly by asteroids but also comets which would need to be a constant vigilance as they come from well beyond our ability to monitor until they are close enough to plot their trajectory to be sexy and attention getting so they cut funding to the bone and used the money on projects which buy those all-important votes. How the human race will ever venture out into space is a mystery but whichever nation gets to put a base on the moon, populate it with construction personnel and engineers and mining equipment such that they could bore passages and other bases such that somebody could transverse from the main base station to any other in order to carry out research or just visit and play the greatest volleyball game ever.

The truth is that all of the planet Earth needs to come together and find some way of settling all the differences such that everybody has their space and can accept what they have and let go of the demands, schemes, dreams, designs or any other spark or even fading ember that too many nations, religions and even individuals hold that drive them to conquer others and invade, infiltrate or otherwise conquer, subsume, infiltrate or other way force others to change to suit your ideas and ways. The desire of all needs to be peace and if one really has to have designs on greater grandeur then instead of conquest here on our little space rock and take that desire to venture into the unknown and find your own world where you and those who agree with the need for dominion over the entirety of a planet, they have at your own planet and everybody else will leave you to your planet because they too will be seeking a world of their own or be amongst others and have a pluralist attitude and establishing multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, multi-populated with some of all who can reside with others without conquest, instead using such drives to seek and settle more worlds and discoveries. Once humankind has begun the settlement out in the stars, then humankind will necessarily both acquiesce and accept others as you would prefer they accept you. We can, as human-kind, work together or continue to war until there are no more and in the end we become an unrecorded memory that evaporates as the sands of time, the winds of fate and the tides of eternity which wash the world clean of all of human existence and our futility. It is our choice to make and I fear we, not all but enough will seal our fate and space will never become ours to populate and discover as we will never actually leave our rock.
