The true test of a Zionist and of Zionism generally lies with the answer to a single question, where does your heart lie when you think of a Jewish State. There is but one acceptable answer, ‘My heart lies with Jerusalem and with the building within of the Temple, the Throne of G0d.’ This is true as we proclaim every year at the end of our Passover Seder in every Jewish home, “Next year in Jerusalem.” The final truth lies within Psalms in the powerful words within the lines to the “Song of Babylon” written in Psalm 137 which reads:

1) By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down, yea, we wept, when we remembered Zion.
2) Upon the willows in the midst thereof we hanged up our harps.
3) For there they that led us captive asked of us words of song, and our tormentors asked of us mirth.
4) How shall we sing the LORD’S song in a foreign land?
5) If I forget thee, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget her cunning.
6) Let my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth, if I fail to count Jerusalem the greatest of all my joys.
7) Remember, O LORD, against the children of Edom the day of Jerusalem; who said: ‘Raze it, raze it, even to the foundation thereof.’
8) O daughter of Babylon, you will be destroyed! A blessing on anyone who pays you back for the way you treated us!
9) A blessing on anyone who seizes your babies and smashes them against a rock!

This is the test which the new Israeli government led by Prime Minister Netanyahu as there will be calls from much of Europe and the Western World with a few notable exceptions; Canada will oppose such a demand be lain upon Israel for as long as Stephen Harper remains their Prime Minister and likely carried on for as long as his Conservative Party holds on to power in the Canadian elections. There is also a strong possibility that Great Britain will also not favor the division of Jerusalem providing the Israelis put forward a strong face of determination to never allow the dividing of their Capital City or the loss of the Temple Mount and all the importance which that holds. Other than these two it would fall to any conservative or traditional party to take the lead for any other nation to oppose such a demand. The crux of why this may become an immediate crisis belongs to President Barack Obama who as the leader of the United States will be left to direct and dictate the manner that United States Ambassador Samantha Power will vote and whether or not she would utilize the United States veto power to block any Security Council Resolutions which would call for Israel to return to the Green Line which describes the armistice lines from the 1948 – 1949 War launched by over a half dozen Arab States to annihilate the nascent State of Israel which divided Jerusalem. Many wish to demand that Israel grant Eastern Jerusalem to the Arabs to use as the capital for their state, ignoring the fact that Israel annexed the entirety of Jerusalem after reuniting the two halves of Jerusalem in 1967 and by doing so included all the Arab residents who had resided under the Jordanian occupation permanent resident status which makes the individual to hold all rights as an Israeli citizen with the exception of political rights. The Israelis actually are only required to grant any Arabs or other non-Jews all rights but withhold political rights according to the San Remo Conference and the British Mandate, both included as valid by the United Nations Charter in Article 80. Israel went as far as to grant the former Jordanian citizens who were included in the reunification annexation of Eastern Jerusalem partial political rights when they were permitted voting rights in Jerusalem city elections. This one further indication proving that all of Jerusalem belongs to Israel and it will never be permitted peaceably to be torn in half; to this too do we say “Never Again!”

Any government which would permit the division of Jerusalem will find itself on the wrong side of the people of Israel who in polling have supported and demanded that Jerusalem remain unified and the Capital City of Israel for this time and forevermore into the future and never ending usually surpassing 75% and even reaching over 90% in numerous local polling. Thus we can easily conclude that any platform which supports the division of Jerusalem as one of their main planks in their platform can forget gaining a majority no matter what their social programs or other money promised to particular groups in order to convert their opposition to splitting Jerusalem muted while they are a part of the coalition such a party might manage to make. The problem is that such a government would be extremely unstable for as soon as a vote came to permit the splitting of Jerusalem or the making of Jerusalem an ‘International City’ presumably managed and run by an agency of the United Nations the promises made not to vote against such a resolution brought before the Knesset would probably not be honored by a significant number of Ministers from such parties who would vote against any such resolution. Furthermore, the Israeli Supreme Court has recognized the annexation of Jerusalem and thus they also might step in to invalidate anything passed through the Knesset and signed by the Prime Minister making any such deal void and without support by the government without opposing the Supreme Court and facing dissolution of the government and new elections. This would place the central issue of the ensuing campaign the division of Jerusalem and losing any possibility that the rights of Jews to visit holy sites in the Old City and around and on the Temple Mount as once the Arabs have control over Eastern Jerusalem such attempts by Jews to visit these sights would result in their death as soon as they were identified. This situation itself, and such extremes required to visit other holy sites described above, are sufficient to reject any proposal for peace which would preclude access by any Israeli to the Temple Mount or the numerous holy sites of Judea and Samaria.

That brings up the other point which is often claimed about the universality of the holy sites and their access being guaranteed for all peoples. This was part of the claim made when the IDF was pulled from Hevron and the majority of the city was relegated to Arab control. This required the strong presence of Israeli security personnel to keep the Cave of the Patriarchs, the Cave of Machpelah, in order to make it safe for Israelis to visit this holy site. The worst case scenario comes from Joseph’s Tomb, Kever Yoseph (Hebrew: קבר יוסף) which is located in the outskirts of Nablus and is completely within Arab areas of control, as they enjoy an almost completely autonomous region within the parts of Judea and Samaria (West Bank) of Area A and B, which according to all agreements is a place of holy pilgrimage or visitation for prayers and other religious purposes and is set apart as to be made available and safe passage to and from this holy place of great importance to the Jews. The reality is something completely different. There is one visit permitted each month, with permitted being very loosely defined, which is arranged by the IDF were one or two busses, heavily armored made bullet proof and strongly reinforced to withstand mines, and a convoy of IDF troops fully armed for security who escort the few fortunate visitors to the tomb somewhat after midnight and steal away back to the safety of Israeli governed lands making very sure they have left at least an hour before sunrise. Even with this covert action there have been times when the convoy was set upon and for reasons of security the trip is cancelled and a retreat to safety becomes the main objective. The trip can be cancelled right before they were to depart if IDF intelligence reports that trouble such as an ambush is a definitive probability. Part of the time spent at each visit is used to cleanup and repair as much of the destruction done to the tomb since the previous month’s visit, whether it was a single month or three or more months since the last visit. The tomb is violated every time after the Israelis try to make it presentable and given the honor it deserves and the Arabs apparently do similarly but have little respect or honor felt towards Kever Yoseph.

The manner and security required for visits to Joseph’s tomb, Rachel’s Tomb, Kever Rachel (Hebrew: קבר רחל), which is a place where women will visit for special prayers the first of each Hebrew calendar month and also require heavy security as it is located northern outskirts of Bethlehem which is within the disputed areas and under shared Arab and Israeli security and Arab semi-autonomous rule and this often leads to the Jewish women being assaulted with rocks and other items hurled at them which most often do not strike within the high walls placed around Rachel’s grave and the women are completely safe within the rebuilt dome which grants them freedom from assault as they pray and neaten the area making the tomb a more honored place. This would be the requirement and limitations placed on the Temple Mount and the Western and other walls of the Temple Mount, the final point of defense in days which are hopefully permanently behind us as Jerusalem deserves a future free of strife and sacking as has been its unfortunate history and may Jerusalem never again feel deserted by her faithful servants whose hearts are gladdened by a visit to her ancient walls and its grasping for a degree of modernity. Israel must demand that all of Jerusalem remain under complete Israeli rule as it has only been since June 1967 that every religion is permitted their rights to visit the Temple Mount and witness the city, both its centuries old buildings intermixed in areas with modern structure thankfully mostly in a style which has them more blend than clash with their surroundings. Let us end with the most remembered lines from Psalm 137 lines 5 and 6 as they speak strongly and resonate at least in this Israeli’s heart, mind and especially and primarily my soul.

If I forget thee, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget her cunning. Let my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth, if I fail to count Jerusalem the greatest of all my joys.

Coming Iran Deal May Be Worse than Netanyahu Claims

When Israeli Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu gives his speech to a joint session of Congress on Tuesday March 3, 2015, he may actually be relating a scenario of best possible deal Iran might accept. President Barack Obama might be correct when he claims that he is attempting to have Iran accept the only deal they are willing to make and that pushing for anything more stringent would simply result in Iran balking and walking out without any deal and doing whatever they please. We should all take up what very well could be the newest slogan in the ever shifting political scene that instead of President Obama’s first campaign theme of Hope and Change, we are now looking at Hope and Pray. There is another problem in the Iran dealings which everybody has apparently ignored, what if Iran walks away from the negotiations and simply states that no deal no matter how generous is as good as no deal and Iran doing whatever their hearts desire. This should be a negotiating scenario with which the Israelis should be very used to as it is the exact negotiating scenario Israel had faced with Mahmoud Abbas and Yasser Arafat before him when attempting to negotiate an end to the Arab Israeli dispute. This is where their negotiations are a diversion and have nothing to do with the terms being so laboriously and tediously worked through down to the last detail, exactly as Secretary of State John Kerry described are currently being hashed out at the negotiations between the P5+1 (United States, Russia, China, Britain, France and Germany) and the Iranians. According to Secretary of State Kerry the major framework of an agreement has been laid out and that the negotiations are proceeding on a series of minutia such as inspections schedules, types of centrifuges permitted, how many of the centrifuges would be permitted to be swapped out and replaced with superior and newer centrifuges as time and technology progress, size of the permissible Iranian stockpile of LEU (lowly enriched uranium) and a plethora of other very specific items. This tactic sounds exactly like the Arab negotiations such as the Camp David Summit negotiations which were held under the generous sponsorship of United States President William Jefferson Clinton and proceeded to where all the particulars and specifics of the deal had been negotiated and spelled out. Perhaps a recounting of these events will help.

They were meeting in Paris to formally complete the deal and hold the signing ceremony when the Israeli team headed by Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak surprised Arab leader Yasser Arafat by simply accepting his presumed final objection in order to arrive at a signed agreement bringing an end to the Arab-Israeli conflict by establishing an Arab state consisting of the West Bank and Gaza with land exchanges on the final five percent of lands Israel was to retain from the West Bank made up of lands from within the Green Line, the sharing of Jerusalem, even a partial right of return, the final demand Arafat believed would be a poison pill the Israelis could not accept, but they did, and every other seeming dispute settled. Yasser Arafat found himself at a place he had thought he had shrewdly been able to avoid ever since the initial agreement in 1993 with the Oslo Accords and their stipulation for working towards a peace settlement. There everybody was sitting at the table, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak with the Israeli negotiators, Yasser Arafat and the Arab negotiators, President William Jefferson Clinton and Secretary of State Albright and the American facilitators on a beautiful Paris afternoon and a completed deal ready for the signatures making the deal final when Yasser Arafat refused to sign claiming the entire deal null and void and totally unacceptable to him, he then rose and stalked out of the negotiations to his car which was awaiting him outside. Immediately behind Arafat was a running Madeline Albright sounding as desperate as she did comical her short body attempting to catch Arafat while teetering on heeled shoes giving up more and more ground as she flung herself wildly down the hallway. That was the end of the Camp David Accords despite Taba Summit and every other final last ditch attempt by the Clinton Administration to forge a deal which would bring Arafat back to the table. He outright refused and never fully explained that his problem was that he would accept nothing less than the destruction of Israel replacing it with an Arab state and removal or slaughter of the Jews residing there, much the same as Abbas is currently working towards as there is not one stich of difference between Arafat and Abbas outside of their attire.

The filling in of the minutia is exactly the steps which are being laboriously worked through parsing every last terminology, checking the exact meaning of each and every word, even getting down to the punctuation so as not to miss even the slightest potential for some misunderstanding down the road which may lead to problems of vision as to whether or not the agreement was being fulfilled. This all takes time, inordinate amounts of time, copious amounts of time and this is as the Iranians desire as it also prevents any further real negotiating between the initial extension and the next deadline and meanwhile no actual progress has been achieved. Should one really desire to see what the final idea of an acceptable agreement would entail, all one need do is to research the statements and specifications defined by speeches, press releases and even Facebook and other social media postings made by the only person who actually holds power in Iran, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has made his position abundantly clear and despite it differing from nearly every statement made by President Hassan Rouhani, Parliamentary President Ali Akbar Hashemi-Rafsanjani, Foreign Minister and Chief Nuclear Negotiator Mohammad Javad Zarif or any of the other Iranian political elites. The Supreme Leader has stated in every possible manner that the sole item standing in the way of an agreement are the illogical and indefensible demands which the Western powers continue to stick to in an unprincipled and arrogant ignorance and denial of reality. He has repeatedly stated that it is the right and prerogative of Iran to continue to enrich uranium with as many centrifuges as they desire producing enriched uranium as they see fit for their purposes and the objections of other nations are irrelevant as Iran seeks only the peaceful use of nuclear power leaving nothing for the United States or the Europeans to object to. He has demanded that the Western powers simply realize the truths and respect Iranian independence and their rights as a nation which is their equal, possessing the right to exercise its rights just as any other nation does. The faster the United States and the Europeans relent from their ridiculous demands and show the proper respect of the Iranian people and their government then the faster an agreement which is in accord with the rights and privileges of the independent Iranian nation recognizing its dignities and right to proceed with their nuclear ambitions can be attained and signed. Unless Iran is given the same respect that the Western nations demand for themselves, the sooner the silliness of these talks can end and a serious debate can be held. Simply put, Iran is going to do what Iran wishes to do and the rest of the world can just sit back and observe, period.

The Iranian negotiators have agreed with Secretary of State Kerry on one very important point, an agreement and a point which the world would be very unwise in ignoring. They have both stated that there will be absolutely no need nor will there be any plan for further negotiations beyond the coming deadline which has been stated as being March 24, 2015. There are some who claim that technically the actual drop dead end to this round of talks is actually in June or even possibly July. That is of little comfort if the Iranians believe and are holding to the end of the debates being late March as they have claimed that that is their deadline and no extension will be considered. This means that we will very soon see exactly what almost two decades, should one count from the start of talks between the Europeans and Iran and not from the delayed entry of the United States, all has been an exercise in futility and has proceeded exactly as the Iranians had desired, simply stalling any other avenue such as that famous option which has constantly been right there on the center of the table never ever to be taken off of the table, let alone implemented, the military option. The United States view of ever making use of the military option has been made clear beyond the fact that President Obama has often informed the media, “I was elected to end wars, not to start them.” This has been carried to the point that on a number of occasions where Israel had been making preliminary arrangements for their utilizing of the military option, there were leaks suspected, and one even obviously, emanating from the White House which exploded any deals or arrangements coordinated by the Israelis. There was the leak that Israel had obtained overflight permission from the rulers of Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, the leak of the leasing of two defunct military airfields from Azerbaijan and the United States stated position after Israel had arranged for overflight with Jordan that any unscheduled overflights of Iran would be intercepted by the United States and engaged and shot from the skies if such illegal flights were attempted. These leaks were all made known to the appropriate governments which would have made life very difficult for the nations involved with Israel forcing them to claim that all such information were completely false and that such cooperation with Israel could and would never ever be contemplated, let alone such agreement reached.

Meanwhile, the United States continues to lead the dancing troupe of diplomats from Europe all dancing to a tune skillfully orchestrated by the Iranian master manipulators all while making furious noise upon the world’s stage all signifying nothing. The next month will be spent with numerous State Department officials and specialists meeting in endless sessions with their Iranian counterparts going over every word, every spot of punctuation, researching countless thesauruses and dictionaries, translating terms between Farsi and English and even potentially Arabic just to make sure that everything means exactly what both sides think they mean and even potentially having the American side using a word repeatedly only to be countered by an Iranian claiming, “You keep using that word, I don’t think it means what you think it means.” There will be arguments, heated discourse, difficulties laboriously worked through and potentially even fists or even shoes slammed upon tabletops before stalking from the session. We have not had a good recorded footwear slammed on the tabletop since the fall of 1960, when in the midst of the debates at the United Nations concerning the Korean Crisis that Russian Premier Nikita Khrushchev reportedly did exactly that, slammed his shoe atop the table during a session of the Security Council and then led the Russian contingency stomping from the room. This is what supposedly allowed the Security Council the opportunity to pass a resolution permitting military force against North Korea leading to the still unsettled Korean War. It is doubtful that the Iranians would pull such a stunt though it would be a form of ultimate insult as shoes are often thrown as a sign of great disrespect for the targeted individual, ask former President George W. Bush who received just such treatment at the hands of an infuriated Iraqi reporter. The main objective of the Iranians, which will eventually become evident, is to run out the clock without having reached a final wording of an agreement so as to facilitate their walking from the negotiations without any agreement and then either declaring their intent to remove themselves from the restraints of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) or to simply continue on to completing their preliminary nuclear weapons research and go on to manufacture nuclear weapons while continuing their research into larger, more powerful yet smaller nuclear devices as well as thermonuclear devices, often called hydrogen fusion devices, while never even bothering to formally depart from the NPT. The final piece which Iran has gained is ISIS and its threat to the Middle East, especially Saudi Arabia and Iraq. The Iranians are very likely to offer a grand deal to President Obama where they will provide the needed boots on the ground against ISIS providing the United States allow Iran a bundle of items in exchange. These include retaining the lands it recaptures from ISIS, allowing Iran to absorb the majority of Iraq and all of Syria and Lebanon, and allowing Iran complete freedom in the nuclear field as long as Iran also promises not to expose President Obama to any embarrassment by not revealing their nuclear arsenal’s existence until he has left office. After he has left office Iran would then be free to reveal their nuclear capability in a staggered manner in order to make it appear they had not gained their knowledge nor began assembling weaponized nuclear devices while President Obama was in office. All these promises would provide Obama with the cover he would require for his legacy which would include his preventing a nuclear Iran while bringing Iran back within the community of nations and reestablishing Iran-American relations. President Obama might even be permitted to reopen an American Embassy in Tehran. This may even be the best agreement that President Obama and the P5+1 might be able to accomplish as the alternative is an end to negotiations and leaving with their hands empty and less than nothing to show for all their endless efforts.

The end result will potentially be that President Obama will end up having no agreement and no prospect of an avenue to preventing the Iranians from the wholesale manufacturing of nuclear weapons and building a huge arsenal resulting in a Middle East nuclear weapons race which may very well result in some very nasty scenarios. What must be kept in mind is that Israel is far from the only nation sitting on the Iranian ‘do not send Christmas cards to list’ who instead might receive a nuclear device used as an EMP device exploding high over the center of the nation. The Iranians would love little more than to replace the Saudis from being the guardians of the Holy Cities of Mecca and Medina. Iran also had designs which are well on their way to fruition of incorporating much of Iraq as a province of the renewed Persian Empire simply renamed as the Iranian Empire. After Syria and Lebanon, Iran will be well on their way towards the reacquisition of the lands once controlled by the Persian Empire, about the only things missing from the Persian Empire would be Turkey, Jordan, Israel and a run through the Greek Islands after a very nasty and costly three days at the Pass of Thermopolis. Iran does not see the world through the same lens as does the Western nations. Iran looks at the Western nations as defunct, swimming in debt, morally corrupt, debaucherous, poorly ruled, lacking in direction and perched precariously just waiting to be nudged beyond the cusp and falling into a great chasm, a great abyss never to rise again. And who do the Iranians see as the successor to the Western Hegemony? Themselves, of course. They see themselves rolling across Europe in an easy conquest after subjugating the Middle East and slashing across Northern Africa unifying the entirety of the Muslim world placing themselves and Shia Islam as the preeminent force in all of Islam and as the subjugators of Sunniism. Their slicing across Europe would proceed with ease of effort as the United States would have been brought low after the EMP device was detonated high above St Louis or Kansas City. Once they had conquered Rome they would see that as having defeated all of Christendom, making their only remaining conquest to be Asia. Iran is seeking to conquer the world and they see nothing out in the world that could potentially pose any real or serious threat opposing such a conquest. They see the United States as a technological giant with a serious Achilles Heel, the complete and total reliance on that technology which requires electricity, great quantities of electricity, in order to feed that technology and without which the United States would be mortally wounded. They view Europe as simply waiting to be subjugated and they figure that the disarming of Europe after World War II and their continued military decline resulting from their emphasis on luxuries and frivolities and neglecting their military defense as their biggest weakness which has left them virtually defenseless.

The only remaining threat might be Israel which they have claimed is a one or two bomb nation which even with its nuclear capabilities still would not pose any serious threat to Islam as an entirety. Further, if the Iranians put off confronting Israel until they had conquered all the rest of the Middle East and potentially Northern Africa, then Israel would definitely not pose a threat to their entirety of conquest. The United States is a one or two bomb nation because they only need destroy the electrical grid and potentially a third and fourth bombs to take out New York City and Washington D.C. as that would wound America fatally in their financial and political hearts, especially if they struck when almost all of the political class is in the Capital building with the President as happened every January for the State of the Union Address. Should Iran partner initially with Russia, the Russians might realize too late that Iran has used them and had no plans on sparing them from their eventual subjugation under Islam. That leaves the two Asian heavyweights outside of Russia, namely China and India. Iran honestly regards themselves as the next hegemonic world power and sees nobody capable of standing in their way, a view the Western world should regard with great trepidations and respond potentially with great and furious force as anything less may leave the free world in a more serious predicament than they found themselves in when ignoring Winston Churchill and all the warnings he had laid out before them and refused the resistance through force he had demanded of them. The result was Dunkirk and almost the loss of the free world to Adolph Hitler. History does not repeat itself exactly the same each time but comes disguised as the past’s adopted cousin, something that acts similarly but is just different enough that it becomes difficult to detect. You know you have seen all this before but you are unable to draw the correct conclusion, sometimes that delay may make everything else too little too late.

When Israel gained control of all of Jerusalem and the Temple Mount after defeating the Jordanian Army after Jordan which, in a misadvised act, joined the Six Day War the morning of the second day, the Israeli government faced a situation which they imagined might cause difficulties after the fighting ended. As the Israeli government of Prime Minister Levi Eshkol and Defense Minister Moshe Dayan was largely secular and placed minimal religious importance to the Temple Mount figuring while both Muslims and Christians had holy structures on the Temple Mount making it a religious site for both religions, Judaism’s last Temple was destroyed almost two thousand years earlier by the Romans led to the decision that the Temple Mount was mostly a historic site for Jews and not as much sacred grounds. The figuring was to not make any disagreements over the Temple Mount a religious subject thus adding religious overtones to what the Israelis perceived as simply a territorial conflict. As those who have followed the growing conflict between Dar al-Islam and Dar al-Harb have realized that as far as Muslims are concerned, everything is a religious conflict and nothing is merely territorial as even once any territory is integrated from Dar al-Harb, the world of war, into Dar al-Islam, the world of Islam, then those who are not or have not accepted Islam as their faith initially are permitted to retain their religion but must follow restrictive rules designed to forcibly coerce conversion through the imposition of a punitive tax, Dhimmi second class status, complete ban of constructing new religious buildings, no proselytizing, no repairs without special permission on existing religious structures and even threat of death for not converting if all else fails. This is simply proof that all conflict with Islam is a religious conflict regardless of the basic inspirations of their enemies. This little fact has finally, after the better part of a century, begun to sink in to the perception of the average Israeli, yet even now there are a sizeable number of Israelis, almost universally secular Israelis, who still deny this reality refusing to grasp what has slowly become more and more obvious to others.

The realities must be realized even by the deepest skeptic with the riotous behavior designed and inspired solely to prevent Jews from ascending to the Temple Mount as their presence is being described by Palestinian political and religious leadership as prevention of the Jews despoiling and desecrating the al-Aqsa Mosque, a structure located on the Herodian expanded area of the Temple Mount that despite its rather impressive size, the Mosque is about 35,000 square meters (380,000 sq. ft.) and could hold up to 5,000 worshippers, is completely located outside of the areas where the two Jewish Temples stood. The Muslims, especially those instigating the current Arab confrontations, are fully aware that the al-Aqsa Mosque would not need to be touched in order for the Third Temple to be constructed which is why they have expanded the area which they claim are parts of the al-Aqsa Mosque to include the entirety of the Temple Mount and through this description they now claim it would be sacrilegious for Jews to enter the al-Aqsa Mosque. This is why Mahmoud Abbas referred to Jews ascending to the Temple Mount as herds of unclean beasts when initially urging the Arab rioting on the Temple Mount recently, but this is nothing new and is a form of Arab protest which has been witnessed before which is all part of the supposed status-quo which really has been more of a sliding definition than a static set of realities.

When after the Six Day War in June of 1967 the hostilities were brought to an end the Israeli government was faced with a set of situations unique and new. Israel had taken control of the Sinai Peninsula during the 1956 Suez War which saw Israel allied with France and Britain demanding that the Suez Canal be reopened for universal maritime traffic and that the Straits of Tiran be reopened to allow Israeli shipping from their southern port of Eilat, after both of the waterways were closed by Egyptian President Nasser. Israel had been pressured, especially by the United States, into returning all of the Sinai Peninsula receiving in exchange the promise that the Straits of Tiran were promised to remain open with assurances from the United States, many European nations and the United Nations and with any such closing being described under international agreement that such future closings would be considered as an act of war against Israel and a casus belli into the future. Israel now also held the entirety of Judea and Samaria, Jordan had renamed the area West Bank and that name should have been relegated to the trash bin of history once these lands were liberated by Israel, as well as the Golan Heights taken from Syria as part of the defensive war Israel fought, the Six Day War. When allowing the Jordanian appointed Waqf to continue to adjudicate the maintenance and other day-to-day care and other duties the Israeli government of Prime Minister Levi Eshkol and Defense Minister Moshe Dayan set forth rules whereby the Christians continued to be responsible for the care and operations of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, the Muslims were responsible for the care and maintenance of the Islamic structures located on the Temple Mount including the al-Aqsa Mosque, the Dome of the Rock and other Islamic buildings while the Waqf would be responsible for most everything else while access to the Temple Mount was to be permitted freely by peoples of all religions and not restricted to the three Abrahamic faiths and while Jews were to be granted totally free access to the Temple Mount, they would be barred from conducting prayers. This arrangement was referred to as the status-quo.

Back after Israel was assailed by over a half dozen national armies upon being founded and declaring her statehood in mid-May of 1948 and fought almost a year and a half war to establish her existence against a genocidal war which eventually left Gaza occupied by Egypt and Judea and Samaria occupied by Jordan. Egypt never annexed Gaza nor offered the Arabs in Gaza Egyptian citizenship. Jordan, on the other hand, annexed Judea and Samaria renaming it West Bank and granting the Arabs living there Jordanian citizenship while expelling every last Jews residing there, particularly the Jewish communities in Hevron, East Jerusalem and other towns, kibbutzim and farms across Judea and Samaria. Jordan also destroyed all the synagogues throughout the areas they held including many centuries old structures, used the grave stones to build latrines for the Jordanian military barracks and generally attempted to remove all evidence of Israeli or Jewish history throughout the areas they controlled. Compared to being forbidden from even approaching the Temple Mount, which being in the Old City Jerusalem was within the areas of East Jerusalem held by Jordan, any access permitted by a negotiated status-quo was an improvement. This improvement was not going to remain consistent as the status-quo mediated with Jordan, the controllers of the Waqf, was altered through treaty when peace was finally reached between Jordan and Israel which left Judea and Samaria as belonging to Israel. There has been another manner by which the status-quo has been altered, that being violence. This was accomplished by the Arab leaders of the Arabs residing in Judea and Samaria who had been granted Jordanian citizenship only to have it nullified by Jordan after they lost the areas to Israel in the Six Day War. This was most likely done by Jordan to avoid having the population of Judea and Samaria from remaining Jordanian citizens and thus being relocated into Jordan as part of any peace treaty or even by Israel as part of retaining the lands gained in a defensive war. The eventual actual reason was to allow these Arabs to take on an independent identification with which to wage a new war on Israel through their new identity being defined such they had equal or superior claim to the Jews to the lands between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea eventually leading to their supplanting the Jews from within their ancient homelands.

Whenever there was a desire to alter the status-quo, either by the Jordanians or the Arabs who remained within Israel, the Arabs residing in Judea and Samaria would riot and continue ramping up the levels of violence forcing Israel to accept further and further compromises by which Jewish rights, and by association Christians, and limiting further Jewish freedoms on the Temple Mount. From the original status-quo which permitted universal access to the Temple Mount for Jews and others as long as the Jews refrained from conducting prayers while on the Temple Mount that being the sole restriction; the status-quo currently being enforced only permits Jews to access the Temple Mount from the Mughrabi Gate via a dangerous wooden bridge that rises above the Western Wall plaza, as are all non-Muslims. Starting last spring the Arabs began a systematic set of confrontations taunting Jews who were permitted to access the Temple Mount. Jews also began facing longer and longer wait times and excessive and invasive searches of their effects and bodies in order to assure they were not taking any religious objects onto the Temple Mount as the display of such objects might insult and disturb the sensitivities of the Muslims. Additionally, despite numerous rulings that all of the Israeli guarantees for religious freedoms are applicable everywhere throughout lands under Israeli control including particularly the Temple Mount and the uttering of prayers by the Israeli Supreme Court in a number of separate decisions through the years. All of these rulings had no effect or change to the reality that any Jews who attempted praying on the Temple Mount would find themselves whisked off the Temple Mount and likely banned for days, weeks or months, all depending on the whims of the Israeli police who are tasked with securing the Temple Mount and enforcing the orders from the Jordanian Waqf. The confrontations which began in the spring ramped throughout the summer into rioting at the request of the Arab leadership in Ramallah who continued calling for increased levels of violence where now the Arab rioters are stoning and throwing Molotov cocktails and shooting flaming fireworks at the Israeli police. These violent riots have produced the desired result of Israeli police forbidding Jews from accessing the Temple Mount.

The frightening thing came when we heard Prime Minister Netanyahu guaranteed one leader after another including but not limited to the King of Jordan, United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon, United States President Obama and numerous European leaders or almost anybody who demanded Israeli compliance to any restrictions the Arabs leadership in Jordan or Ramallah desired to impose. While thus far the rhetoric has only referred to keeping the sacred nature of the status-quo intact with extra identification of willingness to comply with the prohibition of Jews uttering prayers or even appearing to have thought of a prayer while and if they were permitted to enter the Temple Mount, or as the Arabs are fond of calling it, the al-Aqsa Mosque. This obsessive attention paid to complying with the oppressive, dehumanizing and belittling impositions of the so-called status-quo is disturbing enough and the claim that enforcing these observances are required in order to placate the Arabs thus bringing the rioting to an end. The problem is that these riots are not being controlled from Ramallah but instead are being supported by Hamas, paid for out of Qatar and choreographed from Hamas headquarters in Turkey. Mahmoud Abbas could jump up and down and hold his breath until he turned blue and his demands would have no effect on the rioting. His call for riots came after the rioting had been escalating for weeks possibly months. These riots are serving two important goals, the first being the restricting and prevention of Jews accessing the Temple Mount and the other is to provide endless violence which will prove to be beyond the ability of Abbas and the Fatah leadership to control and bring to an end. The aim is to order up a constantly escalating violence level throughout Judea and Samaria with the highest concentration being in Jerusalem, both Eastern and Western Jerusalem. This is presumably to eventually prove Abbas is incapable of ruling the unity government or even the areas he claims he was elected to high office to coordinate and exercise authority which would lead to Mahmoud Abbas and company calling for help from the Israelis. The hope is then to double down and call for the rioting to grow into a full-fledged intifada attacking throughout Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and potentially throughout Israel from the southern tip of the Negev to the northern farms of the Galilee. The continuing escalation is planned to result in the calling for IDF troops to regain control that Hamas has planned to instigate their takeover of Judea and Samaria replacing Abbas and then miraculously ending the chaos and rioting. Then the status-quo will have finally reached its end-point where Jews are not permitted to set foot on the Temple Mount. Then all will have hopefully realized that the Arab-Israeli war has little if anything to do with territories and borders, it is a religious war between Dar al-Islam and Dar al-Harb. The actual conflict only has a tip of the iceberg and only one of numerous tips showing in this war to impose Islamic rule across the entire world. The war with Israel is the front where Islam must reassert their supremacy over the lands where Israel now sits as it was once ruled over as part of the last Caliphate, the Ottoman Empire, and as such must always be under Islamic rule. That is the real status-quo, the return of these lands called Israel to Islamic rule with the Jews and everybody else currently residing in Israel either converted, dead or paying the Jiyza and accepting their position as Dhimmis. After Israel the next target will be Europe but for now I pray for an Israeli miracle and the government extending Israeli law to all of Jerusalem and returning the members of the Islamic Waqf to Jordan with a note informing the Jordanian King that his controllers are no longer required and that free access and right to pray just as things were under King Solomon had announced after he completed the building of the First Temple saying according to scriptures, “Thus all the peoples of the earth will know Your name and revere You, as does Your people Israel; and they will recognize that Your name is attached to this House that I have built” (I Kings 8:43). This was King Solomon’s invitation to all people from every corner of the globe and from slave to ruler to come and make their sacrifices to Hashem and learn to know Hashem’s laws. The pledge of King Solomon to openly share the Temple Mount and the abundance of spiritual greatness which emanated from that holy place be accessible to all without any searches of their bodies and artifacts and restricting the time allotted each visitor was the status-quo of which Hashem would approve. And that should most definitely and even defiantly be the status-quo we need to have rather than the existing Sharia compliant rioting and lawlessness which is the status-quo defiling the Temple Mount with the blessings and approval of the Waqf and all those who believe the supposed status-quo should be applied.
