Abbas’s Brazen Hypocrisy Displayed and Nobody Cares to Notice

Whenever Palestinian Chairman Mahmoud Abbas speaks either to the press or to leaders of nations, NGOs, the United Nations or any other groups or individuals he will phrase everything in one of three basic references. He will speak of what he demands of Israel in order for any further negotiations to be held. He talks about how Israel will display their insincerity should they not meet making some sacrifice that he had demanded just to get him to the table. Or finally he will talk of how Israel is denying the Palestinian Authority of financial funding by some horrid conspiracy and how the rest of the world is obligated to pour more billions, if not trillions, of dollars or shekels or name your favorite currency and how it is urgent that those funds appear immediately or there will be Palestinians who will not receive their salaries. These are the only subjects which appear to excite Abbas. The one item he never speaks of except to tie it to demands for funds or demand Israel meet or grant concessions if they are serious about peace is peace or even peace at all. The one item everyone can be assured of is that Mahmoud Abbas is not about peace, he is about cash on the barrel and as much as he can divert to his and his closest fellow thieves accounts. Abbas is also about travelling the world and staying in the finest hotels, which is understandable as if you are going to pretend to be the leader of a nation that has a history going back nine-thousand years and are the descendants of, pending which version of history the Palestinian leadership is selling this week, the Canaanites or the Amalekites, two not quite civil civilizations which according to ever accounting of history completely disappeared leaving no survivors, you can expect to stay in the finest hotels.

The latest examples of Mahmoud Abbas speaking only of demands and expectations he has of Israel and the rest of the world and never about what he and the Palestinians can do in the name of peace was on display as he spoke to President Obama this past week. He spent an inordinate amount of time repeating how if Israel did not release the final twenty-plus terrorist murderers that such defiance and promise breaking would be the final and absolute proof that Israel does not desire peace. Of course there was no mention about his statements for the past month where he repeatedly swore he was only remaining in the negotiations until the last set of terrorist murderers, he calls them heroes, are released and then he will walk out of the talks as he will have received what he demanded and thus there would be no more reason to continue the façade of negotiating with Israel. Then Abbas switched to answer President Obama’s query as to what it would take for Abbas to continue to negotiate where he had an answer at the ready. All he demanded is that Israel makes further releases of terrorists including two of the most heinous terror masters serving multiple life sentences for their planning and executing the murders of tens if not hundreds of Israeli civilians including infants as well as men, women and children. But Abbas was not finished; he also demanded that the United States once again force a building freeze on Israel which was of little surprise as he has been whining that Secretary of State Kerry should force a building freeze on the Israelis since the start of this round of negotiations. The incessant demand for a building freeze by Abbas eventually irked Secretary Kerry to the point he actually made a point of castigating Abbas in a news conference when asked how the peace talks were preceding.

There are two things which Mahmoud Abbas will never permit as long as he has breath within his body. The first is an election where he has to compete to keep his elected office as he is fully aware that he would lose and lose big. The second is agree to any peace agreement no matter how generous the Israeli offer which he has proven by refusing the offer from Ehud Olmert when he agreed to present the terms written and offered by President William Jefferson Clinton. Abbas not only refused that offer once but also refused to even consider the follow-up offer which President Clinton pressed the Israelis to allow as he was determined to reach a peace agreement no matter the cost before he left office a few weeks later. The one item that President Clinton, to his credit, would not present was the only item Abbas might accept, the end of Israel as a Jewish State by allowing the full so-called “right of return” for over five-million Arab refugees who are mostly descendants of those Arabs who fled Israel mostly at the behest of the Mufti of Jerusalem to further the ability of numerous Arab nations’ armies who were to attack and destroy the newly declared state of Israel in 1948. They failed.

Many wonder why Abbas refuses to even consider any proposal for peace and the answer is the same as it is for why he also refuses to hold elections. Mahmoud Abbas does not wish to die. There, I’ve said the supposedly unspeakable, well, at least not in polite society. He is aware that if he allows an election that Hamas is very likely to win and replace him and then remove any possibility that he might cause problems later. Abbas was further reminded that this would be his fate after Hamas took control of Gaza in a coup and dealt with many of the Fatah and Palestinian Authority leadership from Gaza by giving them a shove enabling them to reach the ground from the top of fourteen story buildings without using the stairs or elevators. Abbas really desires to avoid such an event in his future. The same exact motivation drives Mahmoud Abbas’s phobia against reaching a peace with Israel. He was given a taste of what peace with Israel would mean for his life expectancy when Hamas took control of Gaza soon after the Israelis withdrew all the Jewish residents and the IDF soldiers in the disengagement in 2005 under Prime Minister Sharon. The horrid display of barbarism from Hamas in ridding Gaza of any vestiges of Fatah or Palestinian Authority would frighten any sane human being, yet it also managed to frighten Abbas as well. Abbas is always full of demands but will never, on his life, accept any peace agreement and that would be till death does he depart.

Where are the Foundations of Netanyahu’s Building Tenders?

As we approach the third in the presumably four terrorist murderer releases, Prime Minister Netanyahu has also included, as he has with the previous releases, a slip of paper and an announcement that another so many thousands of tenders to build houses beyond the Green Line. This cannot be confused with contracts with construction companies to actually build housing, it is a slip of paper promising to claim to want to build houses though they likely will never be constructed. These tenders to build are simply placebo documents meant to assuage the pain of those who have suffered the loss of loved ones to those very same terrorists as well as give the left something to complain over thus lessening if not drowning out the protests from the Zionists. These slips of paper issued by Prime Minister Netanyahu are just that as Prime Minister Netanyahu has already made a backroom deal and caved to Palestinian Authority Chairman Abbas demands and backed by United States Secretary of State Kerry.

It is part of the assurances Secretary Kerry presumably made with Chairman Abbas to fulfill every last one of his list of preconditions. This agreement came after the release of the first group of terrorists as Prime Minister Netanyahu issued the standard bromide of housing tenders along with the terrorists and Chairman Abbas demanded from Secretary Kerry that none of the plans to build could be allowed or the Palestinians would walk from the meetings and break off all negotiations. This arm twisting came after Chairman Abbas had agreed to allow Israeli construction east of the Green Line as he decided to choose the release of arch-terrorists over a building freeze. Of course Abbas knew that all he would need do is complain and put on his irritated look threatening to scuttle the peace process and he could have both the terrorist release and the building freeze. Secretary Kerry was a sure fire slave to any and all of Chairman Abbas’s demands as Kerry will do virtually anything to allow the peace process to appear to have any future life. This means nothing is beyond reason to grant the Palestinians as all they have to do is ask and threaten to walk while no threat is off the table to threaten the Israelis to force them not only to continue the negotiations but to grant any demand that Secretary Kerry carries over to them after receiving his marching orders from Chairman Abbas.

Many people wonder why this arrangement is permitted to continue by the Israelis as they are slowly being torn asunder and having the very existence of Israel as the home for the Jews utterly and completely destroyed. The truth is this building freeze has been enforced by Netanyahu since returning to the office of Prime Minister. Initially, Prime Minister Netanyahu tasked Minister of Defense Ehud Barak with the unenviable job of enforcing by any means necessitated a building freeze for all areas beyond the Green Line in Judea, Samaria and Benyamin or the entirety of the so-called West Bank. This channeled great amounts of scorn to fall upon Minister Barak which many believed he deserved due to his positions and established participation in the initiation and structuring of the Oslo Accords. With Ehud Barak finally deciding to leave political public service, Prime Minister Netanyahu no longer had someone to rely upon who has as proven, faithful and untarnished record of liberal progressive anti-Zionist views and opposing all construction in what they honestly believed was destine to become a part of the Palestinian State to enforce his building freeze. Thus, Prime Minister Netanyahu has allowed truth to surge forth that it was his view all along that a building freeze be enforced in order to genuflect to the Palestinians and the demands and preconditions of Chairman Abbas. What makes this even more perilous for Israel is that both President Obama and Secretary of State Kerry are fully aware that they have a compliant, malleable and weak person as Prime Minister of Israel who can be forced and pushed and will not stand firm, all he demands is to be permitted to talk a good game pretending to strongly support a Zionist position. Prime Minister Netanyahu may even truly feel and hold a Zionist position but has shown only the ability to talk the game and has virtually always fallen short of enforcing and implementing a Zionist agenda. Perhaps Netanyahu could be given a position where all he is required to do is give speeches supporting Israel, Zionism and Torah.

Granted Prime Minister Netanyahu is more supportive of Zionism and Zionist principles than most of the previous Prime Ministers Ehud Olmert, Ariel Sharon, Ehud Barak and Shimon Peres. What Israel could really use is a Prime Minister in the mold of Yitzhak Shamir or Menachem Begin, both of whom stood up against pressures and demands from the United States yet managed to continue to have good relations. The truth be told, one generates greater respect and better relations by standing strongly for your beliefs even if doing so places you in opposition to the desires and positions of others. By virtually surrendering and bending over to meet every spoken desired position or policy you engender ideas which influence others to simply take advantage of your weak will and disrespect your positions disregarding them completely as they speak praises of your ability to compromise but honestly seeking your complete and final surrender. The time has come for Israel to find new leaders who are not compromised by the last twenty years. Israelis need to find the next Prime Minister who is a dedicated and forceful Zionist who will refuse to kowtow to foreign pressures and truly pursue the Zionist agenda and work to fulfill the Torah requirement to settle the land. Once Israelis and the Israeli leadership combine to present a united front that demands Israeli rights to all of our ancient homeland all the forces demanding the destruction of the Jewish state will begin their withdrawal from the debate. For those who refuse to live in Israel and recognizing that she is a multi-ethnic, multi-religious society which will be ruled with the ideals of Judaism and Zionism as the primary inspiration in the making of laws and celebrating traditions while respecting other religions, can depart and receive compensation for their losses with the granting of a one-time monetary payment to assist them in establishing a new home in whatever country they should choose to reside. The Prime Minister of Israel needs to insist that the world honor the promises and treaties made between the two World Wars which called for the institution of a Jewish state in their ancient homelands with no exception or formation of other entities within these guaranteed borders as described in these treaties and conferences. Israel and the Jewish people are not demanding anything beyond the promises and assurances made with them at the end of World War I as the remnants of the Ottoman Empire were divided up by the victors which established much of the map of the Middle East and North Africa. Just as each nation came into being, Israel was also given guarantees which inevitably grant that Israel shall be governor over all the lands between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea. This is far less than the original promises which initially granted the Jewish state the lands west from the Iraq border to the Mediterranean Sea. In the Churchill White Papers the Zionists granted the one time release of the lands between the Jordan River to the Iraq border to form a Palestinian Arab state under the rule of the Hashemite family. The remainder of the British Mandate was guaranteed by this treaty to be granted to the Jews indivisible for all time. What part of indivisible does the world, which agreed to grant all of the British Mandate lands originally at the San Remo conference treaty, not understand?

This is not an article on why the current peace negotiations between the Israelis and the Palestinian Authority will most likely fail but about why all of these negotiations have and will forever fail. The common perception is that all that is necessary for there to be peace is for the Israelis to make sufficient sacrifices and surrender sufficient land for there to be peace. The mantra we hear over and over to the point it has become almost a chant that the world leaders recite whenever the Israelis and Palestinian Authority leaders meet is “Land for Peace.” There is actually no amount of land that Israel can surrender which will result in peace or even an agreement with the Palestinians. The simple truth is that there is only one result which the Palestinians are willing to accept, the complete annihilation of the Jewish State to be replaced by an Islamic Sharia State completely free of any Jewish, Christian or any non-Muslim religious group allowed to reside within. There will be protests with this claim which are fully expected.

I can hear the protestations already that the Palestinian Authority has been accepting and good to the Christians in their midst as claimed by those very same Christians who place the blame for their troubles with the Israelis where it belongs. The reason that the Christians leaders from within the Palestinian areas in Judea, Samaria and Benyamin have little choice in expressing their preferences; as if they do not blame Israel for their every woe, then the Muslims will lose vindictive destructions upon Christian businesses, churches, homes and people even higher degree than they currently inflict. Explain why in all of North Africa and the Middle East, an area almost exclusively under Islamic rule, everywhere in every location with but one exception the numbers of Christians have been decreasing for decades upon decades. The sole exception where the numbers of Christians has been steadily on the increase is Israel where freedom of religion is a treasured value which is held in high esteem. The Muslim lands are not so generous with their acceptance of those who even follow a branch of Islam which is different from that of the governing preference, let alone any religion other than Islam. If you wish to see what the treatment the Christians would receive under Palestinian rule if they spoke the truth all one need do is look to Egypt at the treatment of the Christians by the Muslim Brotherhood since they were removed from power. There have been days where as many as fifty churches have been completely looted of anything worth taking before being burned to the ground. Also, Christian owned businesses which have also been torched along with Christian homes, all of which have burned solely as the result of Muslim anger and perceived insult resultant to President Morsi being removed. The Christians were victimized and blamed for his removal despite the protests of literally tens of millions of Egyptians against his actions which excluded all except his cohorts within the Muslim Brotherhood. The Christians who used to make up approximately three quarters of the population in Bethlehem before the Palestinian Authority was gifted security and political control over the birth place of Jesus but now only a remnant making up less than ten percent still reside in this holies of holy cities in Christendom. The only part which Israel played in this entire procession of events was to gift control to the Palestinian as a result of the tragic Oslo Accords.

There are a number of horrific results from the continuing tragedy called the Oslo Accords. Perhaps the greatest of these has been the requirement on the Israelis to placate those who cannot be placated. We can boil down the Israeli needs to a single item which would be sufficient to destroy any possibility for peace. This one item is probably not one the majority of people would even be able to name, let alone be high on their list as Israel is often chastised for making too many demands and not showing a willingness to do what is necessary to reach a peace agreement. This one item has absolutely nothing to do with the settlements or Israeli towns and businesses that are in areas liberated from Jordanian illegal occupation as a result of the June 1967 War. It does not have anything to do with whether or not Israel will be allowed to retain the eastern half of Jerusalem which they have already made an integral part of Israel placing all of Jerusalem under Israeli political and security rule. This one item is not in reference to Israel being permitted to keep some defensive positions and monitoring stations in the Jordan Valley just west of the Jordan River as an early warning system to detect any attack approaching from over Jordanian space. The one item Israel insists the Palestinians meet is to recognize that Israel exists as the state for the Jewish People. The recognition that Israel is the reestablishment of the ancient Jewish homeland is about as basic an understanding of the real reason the world agreed upon when they setup the British Mandate with the stated intent to establish a homeland for the Jewish people. This was voted upon and established international intent for the creation of a state for the Jews before 1920 which is decades ahead of the horrors of the Holocaust. The claim often made that Israel was established as a guilt offering by a world shocked by the horrors of the Holocaust is so easily proved false it is remarkable that it has survived. The Balfour declaration came in 1917 and by 1920 the entire League of Nations had made the Balfour Declaration an international treaty recognized by the world. There have been numerous conferences and accords made all before World War II and the Nazi horrors which echoed and restated support for the establishment of a Jewish State in the Jewish ancient homelands. So, requiring the Palestinians to simply recognize that Israel is and was established as a state for the Jewish People is far from asking the impossible, yet this is the one point above all others which the Palestinians and rest of the Muslim World refuse to grant. Until the Muslim World can recognize that Israel is the state for the Jews, which is even mentioned in the Quran, there can be no peace and that is as simple as it gets. If the world really wishes to find a path to peace between the Jews and the Muslim World they need to require the Muslim World recognize that the Jews have rights to a homeland and that homeland is located as stated in the Old Testament, the Christian Bible and the Islamic Quran on the eastern end of the Mediterranean Sea and includes all of Jerusalem, and only after this has been established should they demand that Israel give even more lands to the Palestinian authority.
