Israel Must Choose Before Any More Damage is Done

Israel is facing the most aggressively damaging and abrasively caustic administration in memory if not actuality. The revelation that if not for then Secretary of State Clinton’s inattention or impracticality of concealing the United States’ manipulative coercions, there would have been a massive and coordinated world-wide effort to disestablish Israel fortunately never happened. The still and continuing e-mail scandal, which many believe and even hope, will sink her second run for the Presidency, revealed a new chapter with Israel as the target. The revelation told of plans in the works for a massive coordinated effort through the wholly owned NGOs either under United States directive or through the European controlled NGOs or both along with overtly coordinated through State Department auspices and contacts a coordinated support around the world designed to inundate the media with calls and charges against Israel to force a peace on Israel through what were termed grand sacrifices and concessions both before and during the negotiations which were to present to Mahmoud Abbas an irresistible Israeli position which would give him everything and possibly anything demanded just to end the humiliations and accusatorial demonstrations within Israel, the Palestinian territories and around the world. The plan was for Arab Palestinians to present an Arab Spring style protest where massive numbers of Arab women would protest at a set location publically accessible for the media to cover and with only women and their young children and no Arab Palestinian men as they would not have the patience and would resort to violence allowing for Israel to then disperse the demonstrators using force of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) or border patrol and police thus ending the demonstrations before they could have their desired effect.

The ideas were presented by an e-mail from Thomas Pickering, a former US ambassador to Israel who also served as undersecretary of state for political affairs under former president Bill Clinton and well connected to the Clinton team. In his damning e-mail Pickering wrote “On the Palestinian side the male culture is to use force. Palestinian men will not for long patiently demonstrate — they will be inclined over time and much too soon to be frustrated and use force. Their male culture comes close to requiring it. If the Palestinians see men engaged they will jump in and the soldiers of the IDF will sooner or later use force,” he wrote. “This comes from several former senior Israeli military officers I have spoken with. The soldiers are fearful, nervous, outnumbered, insecure and brought up on a severe distrust of Palestinian males whom almost all of them have never spoken to except at roadblocks.” It was further reported that the use of females could “counteract” fears that the protests could become violent and thus place Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas and his standing to rule in Ramallah in danger and result in losing the person so much time and efforts to build his image as a partner for peace despite evidence to the contrary, not all of which has been successfully thwarted. Citing the need for a kick-start in order to return to negotiations, Pickering continued, “They must develop growth and momentum, just like Tahrir Square, and attract more women to participate and thus gain world attention.” he continued expressing regret at finding, “Their leadership has shied away from this idea because they can’t control it; they too are afraid of being replaced by a Tahrir Square style action.”

Pickering continued by painting Israeli Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu as the impediment to peace talks and peace itself as he is satisfied with things as they are, deadlocked and further in Pickering’s mind’s warped views and continuing to expand the settlements in Judea and Samaria placing more realities on the ground all despite the Prime Minister acting as a stone wall blocking any and all building in the areas beyond the Green Line ever since the reelection of President Obama. Still, Pickering stated, “Netanyahu is not going to move for anything that the Palestinians can offer him which they can deliver,” he wrote. “He cannot deliver anything the Palestinians can accept without our help. He is much more satisfied with the status quo than with the risks of change. What will change the situation is a major effort to use non-violent protests and demonstrations to put peace back in the center of people’s aspirations as well as their thoughts,” Pickering added, “and use that to influence the political leadership. This is far from a sure thing, but far, in my humble view, from hopeless.” Laura Rosenberger, Secretary of State Clinton’s foreign policy adviser of those times told The Times of Israel late last Tuesday: “To be clear, Hillary Clinton never considered any plan of this sort, period.” This was but one of the numerous demands or plans offered in the most recent three-thousand of the e-mails released to the media.

These revelation come on top of the eviction of Jews from apartments they had legally purchased and possessed all the pertinent and required paperwork but it has been surmised that returning the properties to their former Arab owner became necessary due to intelligence that were the Jews to remain in the building that such would provide sufficient evidence to place the previous Arab owner who sold the apartments in danger of torture and probable death as he had broken the Arab Palestinian law against selling or renting properties to Jews punishable by death after appropriate torture such that others tempted to sell to Jews would be cowed and prevented. This is a disturbing policy, advisory or who knows what, which forces Israeli forces to remove any Jewish presence even if they own the apartments or other accommodations if the previous Arab owner becomes under threat by the Arab Palestinian Authority. Such a policy would provide for a great revenue enhancer as an Arab could sell a property and retain ownership without reimbursing the Jews. This would also serve as an enhanced mode of preventing any further spread of Jewish residence in the contested area beyond the Green Line thus keeping Prime Minister Netanyahu’s and Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon’s silent promise to enforce President Obama’s settlement freeze. This stealth freeze has prevented Jews and only Jews from any construction even to include a small tool shed all the while allowing Arab illegal building of structures and other facts on the ground in Area C using European financing all in an effort to surround Bet El, East Jerusalem and any other Israeli community thus forcing their evacuation should any peace be formed using the Green Line that the Arabs are placing structure along its length.

All the stealthy compliance with an Obama directive, Arabs building illegally and expelling Jews from their homes, workplaces and shopping areas all in the name of peace yet these actions and any even punishingly severe which results in Israel and the Jews retaining even just sufficient lands for them to stand upon and not an inch more still would not produce that presumed illusive peace agreement. The reason, contrary to leftist and international busy-bodies’ strong belief of the requirements for peace and their other cases of wrong-think, is not at all to do with Israeli policies or concessions but due to Mahmoud Abbas and his precariously tenuous grip to power and its dependency on the IDF presence. Should Mahmoud Abbas ever agree to a peace with Israel it would leave him high and dry and oh-so-vulnerable to Hamas and other actors who actually have the support of the majority of Arab Palestinians in Judea and Samaria. The IDF commanders who know the realities which will never make it into Western media would tell the story of how their main task is to enforce policies which demand that they do everything required to keep Mahmoud Abbas and his kleptocracy in power and alive. It is for this reason that the Arab Palestinian intelligence gatherers report and share everything, and we mean everything, with their IDF counterparts emphasizing any information which will eat away at the activities of Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Muslim Brotherhood, Islamic State, Iran and any other threats to Abbas thus using the IDF as the best possible Abbas protector service. Despite Abbas and his merry band of cutthroats being up to their collective necks in incitement, rewarding, incentivizing and supporting, in every conceivable manner, terrorism with intent of murdering and forcing Israel’s hand to defend even to the point of lethal force; the world and even Pope Francis call him a man of peace. Even having their hands forced to use up to the full force of the IDF to save the lives of civilians, any Arab deaths are then grist for the destruction mill which is the Western and world media in concert with leftist defamations calling for the erasure of all of the Jewish State as told in their unifying chant, “From the River to the Sea, Palestine must be free.” Yet it is better attacks be made one by one rather than have Hamas or worse occupying the ledges of the Judean hills overlooking the heart of Israel that surrounds the north, south and east of Tel Aviv where Hamas and company could launch their rockets beyond the cusp down on seventy percent or more of Israel’s population, businesses, tourist destinations and its main, some might claim only, international airport, Ben Gurion, placing all flights in danger from surface to air missiles. Such a reality would result in Israel being forced to retake all of Judea and Samaria right up to the Jordan River abrogating any presumed peace which drove out any Israeli presence or force to prevent such a takeover.

This brings us to the choice Israel must make before things get so upside-down and precarious such as a revolt, a coup in which Hamas or the Islamic State or potentially both take over the Palestinian leadership in Judea and Samaria. Such an event would spell out a death sentence for Abbas, Erekat, Rabbo and the other leaders of Fatah. They would likely be tossed from the top of the highest buildings in all of Judea and Samaria as Hamas cleansed the “weakness” from their midst. Initially the IDF, Border Patrol and other Israeli armed forces would necessarily escape onto the larger communities which would offer sanctuary, a decent and organized supplemental armed force, many with defendable emplacements near the edge of their communities and most important, relative proximity which offers friendlier climes. From the higher ground which is often in or near the center of these communities the IDF could place spotters to act as an early warning system and the initial confrontations could easily be Arab Palestinians also seeking the protection from Hamas, Islamic State or whoever had taken power by force as the new power in Judea and Samaria might decide that more than just the leadership required being deleted (for lack of a better word). This is one of many potential alternative futures which could be realized in the far distant future or could be just beyond the cusp of today arriving with the morning sun tomorrow. Anyway one looks at the possible alternatives to Abbas the more one realized there are worse, but why has there never been any hope for a better future? Again, the reason is Abbas who has refused to hold election though two set dates giving him and the rest of the thieves running the Arab Palestinian Authority a third term without the inconveniences and risks of an election. This is the actual reason that the Arab Palestinians have not voted since 2005 and has nothing to do with Israel as the Authority holds the power over elections as their autonomous leadership and not Israel is responsible in any form or matter.

Israel faces an evil and dubious future for as long as the Arabs are under the Palestinian Authority or any other semiautonomous region as the propaganda continues to find more and more hate-filled minds who would believe any horrendous or heinous act by Israel or the IDF and other enforcement troops or the people (meaning Jews) simply due to the fact they believe Jews to be the most vile and evil sub-humans on the face of the Earth. The latest proof is close to beyond belief but it has been validated in the media where reports tell of seventy-one British physicians have petitioned to have the Israeli Medical Association (IMA) have their membership in the World Medical Association (WMA) revoked as Israeli doctors were carrying out “medical torture” on Palestinian patients. That any physician would contemplate or conceptualize such an accusation against the entire body of physicians of another nation has to be rooted somewhere beyond the cusp of reason. There can be no other explanation that such an accusation could be brought to the fore except as the result of latent, or not so latent, hatred and bias against the group due to their nation and whatever makes their nations separate from the body of nations in these physicians’ beliefs. Israeli physicians and medical staffs along with search and rescue teams and all forms of disaster relief time and again have not only been amongst, if not the first to arrive but also go into the remote places where some have yet to ever see any aid or other government or NGO assistance. These teams are often the first onto the scene after a disaster and are one of the few who have offered to assist the United States after disasters and have provided such relief in Haiti, Philippines and Nepal just to name a few. Then there is the Save a Child’s Heart where operations are performed and subsequent teams trained and hospitals given the equipment necessary to allow such operations to then be performed in a more timely manner. The SACH doctors give up the glamour for the goodness yet these physicians would also be injured by this proposed action by seventy-one British Physicians.

These physicians’ anti-Semitism along with the accompanying anti-Israel and anti-Zionism is so blatant that it simply oozes the bile-like slime over anything they touch. Their hatred may stem from many things but this type of hate comes from deep in a defective heart, and malfunctioning mind and a blackened soul. It is exactly this hatred which is also pervasive on the Arab Palestinian and Arab and Muslim worlds beyond which will never be satisfied while Israel exists at any size or location. It is not that these haters are serving the cause of the Palestinian Arabs but rather channeling their hatred for Jews into their political haughtiness and spitefulness choking their hearts that they display by such an act. May Hashem treat them more kindly when they return a blackened soul to His care than they will have acted towards the Jewish State because of its being Jewish. Israel must take control over all the lands from the River to the Sea. If there are a number of Arabs who wish to be under their own rule then an area which includes them be granted semiautonomous governance with elections held as the exact timing as called for in any founding documents and to assure their votes are heard and even permitted to be cast, these elections will be scheduled, held and monitored by Israel and international observers. Fair and open elections can work towards free and open passage for all into Israel proper and for Israelis to enter the semiautonomous zones, especially if it holds religious historical sites and prayers will be permitted by all in all areas of Israel. The semiautonomous zone and governance will still be held responsible for observing any Israeli laws which are a part of the Basic Laws or any Constitution if and when one is written and adopted. The Lands must still be defended from external influences or hostile attack, thus the IDF and Shin Bet will have ample access to the area of the autonomous governance as required. In exchange the Israelis will monitor their governance for any graft or signs of kleptocracy and will investigate such and hold the guilty responsible. The society within Israeli borders must be kept free, open and without any form of radicalized hatreds or violence as the rule of law will be the absolute one can count upon and equality before the law a guarantee.

What Bibi promises the Supreme Court will demolish. The cycle is so consistent that it should have become ingrained on every religious and secular Zionists’ minds. They demolish two buildings here and the government promises to address building anew. Then when they demolish another set of homes in another location the Prime Minister feels compelled to bring a vote to build those homes he already had once promised. A while down the road the tenders have yet to be issued but the vote was close with some from the coalition opposing but finally permitted the vote and we are supposed to be thankful and kiss the rings of the demolishers. The delay comes to an end but not until the morning of yet another demolition. We wait and the tenders are opened and the Supreme Court nullifies the action claiming the homes are on contested ground because some anti-Zionist “Israeli” (financed exclusively by European funds funneled through other NGOs as well as directly in the more blatant cases) NGO in the name of a Palestinian who cannot appear before the Supreme Court as he is in a refugee camp but his family had walked their two goats there once on their way to get them water, and there is no need as the claims are all that matters. The justices feel the pain and cancel the tender and reprimand the Prime Minister for not making sure the land was not contested so the Prime Minister in reaction freezes all building. The fact is there has been a stealth construction freeze since United States President Obama took office and first demanded that no house ever be built for a Jew in the lands of Israel, especially in the most historically Jewish lands on the face of the Earth.

Israel Supreme Court ordered Beit El destruction and refused to allow petition from the residents of Beit El wishing to present full paperwork and licensing making building perfectly and completely legal as once the Supreme Court gets a decree for the demolition of Jewish homes beyond the Green Line only interdiction of Hashem to soften their hearts can change the otherwise inevitable.

How in anybody’s imagination can the reality be so warped that Judea is not Jewish land? Judea, we Jews are called Jews because we came from and lived on the land of Judea, it is that simple. Sure Mahmoud Abbas and the Palestinian television, radio, other media, school lessons, textbooks, poetry, and flowing prose given awards all across Europe all signifies that the Arabs who invented the name Palestinians after a Roman mispronunciation of Philistines claim they have lived in this area for nine-thousand years and were almost ready to take the land back from those thieving Canaanites when the Jews showed up and stole the land from those thieving land pilferers and ruined their plans and now they will not allow another theft of their lands. Never mind that their forefathers were still bowing before their stone idol deities when the Jews were writing the codes under which much of the Western World based their legal systems and social institutions. The one consistency is that one of those great stone deities they worshiped, their Moon god, was named Allah, strange but true and very telling. They had yet to get much past Mecca and had not yet heard of Jerusalem and the great Temple built by King Solomon much less inhabit the lands here thousands of years ago as Mahmoud Abbas often claims. All that aside, after the enthusiasm in Europe to send the Jews packing back to their ancient and historic homelands after World War I and begrudgingly after World War II with final recognition in 1948 after the Arab League refused the Partition offer from the United Nations General Assembly, a non-binding resolution made mute as soon as one side refused to claim it valid thus the Jews accepting it does not mean it applies but only to the redrawing the lands west of the Jordan River now that agreeing presumably retroactively after failing to destroy Israel in their three attempts, 1948-9, 1967 and 1973, the original deal may sound delicious but that is water under the bridge and over the dam lost out somewhere at sea never to be retrieved.

Young man looks on at horrific scene where the Israeli Supreme Court has ordered the demolition of apartments under construction in Beit El, a Jewish city of six-thousand people, founded in 1977 which also employs numerous Arabs from neighboring villages thus benefitting both Jews and Arabs alike.

Still, there is an illness inflicting Israeli society and its name is post-Zionism which holds that for Israel to be a modern, sophisticated and presumably accepted nation to the Europeans then Israel has to drop this whole Jewish State thing, after all that is so tenth century BCE and here we are in the twenty-first century CE, a whole thirty centuries later. Well, then I guess that the Japanese need to alter their constitution and immigration laws and drop that Japanese thing and the Chinese need to drop that Chinese thing and let us not talk about the British who might need to drop that Celtic, Norman, Austrian and Monarchy thing and the Swiss that Swiss thing and the French and the Germans and the, well, you get the idea. The real problem is the Supreme Court, the only court in the world which had a near monopoly on choosing the new justices to sit on the bench when one retires which is why there is no correlation to the Israeli Supreme Court and the will of the people of Israel. Additionally, there is absolutely no possibility of changing this situation short of a coup as the Supreme Court has assumed the title of monarchial adjudicating ruler over all of Israel.

Border Police secure the site barring their fellow Jews from potentially actively interfering with the demolition in Beit El and in some twisted manner it is a reminder of anti-Semitism experienced throughout Europe and under Islam over the past eighteen centuries in the Diaspora where many a Jew lived with one suitcase packed and ready to bring the essentials to start anew.

As near as can be determined the Supreme Court could, if it so deigned, take upon itself setting the speed limits on the roads and highways because, as President of the Supreme Court (other nations settle for chief justice but the Israeli Supreme Court has a President which is all too fitting all things considered) Aharon Barak ruled during his term as President of the Supreme Court that all things are subject to judicial review by the Supreme Court. This simply meant that the Supreme Court may review any legislation passed by the Knesset and signed by the Prime Minister and nullify the law even before the ink had dried putting on the books. For this reason I would advise that all laws initially be entered onto the books with disappearing ink and only later done with an indelible marker once the Supreme Court had adjudicated and affirmed the law. This will save time and money erasing the record and allow for the Supreme Court to either nullify, rewrite or nullify and write anew the law as it should have been legislated if only the Knesset elected by the people actually had any idea what was best for the people. This is the reason though that Prime Minister Netanyahu can promise all the building he desires or even that he would rather not allow because the Supreme Court will have every building that goes halfway up to be torn asunder as soon as any contest is filed by any party whether they are personally making the claim or making the claim in the place of a third party who always may as well remain nameless as they never need appear and no paperwork, deed or other proof ever need be entered, there just needs be a challenge in the name of any Palestinian and the buildings in question will need to be demolished.

Now this demolition may take place within hours or it may take place months down the road or even a year later after families have taken up residence. No matter, we can promise to simply move the buildings to a less contested area, oops; they fell apart before being transferred, so sorry. The cycle never seems to end and the Zionists appear to have been dizzied under the constant spinning between extending new tenders and injunction against building to a ruling for demolitions and another tender later that day followed by another annulment then a victory and the building begins, hope, refreshing new hopes. No sooner than hope and an NGO has filed a protest and counterclaim in the name of some presumed downtrodden and dejected Palestinian whose life has been filled with misery and now, on top of all that, the Jews are building on his families vegetable garden from the middle of the nineteenth century when they were driven off by a camel merchant with connections, the tales of woe. Who is this unfortunate Palestinian, the name matters not, it could be Mohammad or Abdul or even Achmed the dead Terrorist, the Supreme Court will order the demolition and refuse to give ear to the facts and the completed paperwork and licensing as once the wheels (tracks) of the wrecker have been put in motion, nothing short of an injunction from Heaven can interfere as no Earthly entity dare stand before the Supreme Court and their gavel of Aharon Barak’s universal adjudications over all things Israel.

Palestinian rally cheering the agony and misfortune Jews are inflicting on their fellow Jews as many within the halls of power and the institutions have made particular quasi-legal machinations by which they inflict severe heartache and some celebrate the misfortune of others who have never harmed them and even may employ members of these celebratory Arab Palestinians families which will also be harmed by these actions in Beit El.

This unholy and dizzying dance has turned into a tornado of terror for those Jews residing beyond the Green Line, even those who have resided on their validated and proven family lands be they in Hevron, East Jerusalem or even a small farm next to Beit El as everything falls before the domain of the Supreme Court. Unlike Supreme Courts the world wide, the Israel Supreme Court can be petitioned directly and take whatever case they deem deserving, and once deemed deserving the decision is all but finalized. There need not be proof of ownership, no deeds or other documentations are required and the plaintiff need not appear before the court or even actually have proof of their existence, just a signature on a piece of paper empowering any NGO who had hunted them down and perhaps cajoled them into signing the claims just to be left alone as being seen regularly talking with Israelis can prove very unhealthy. One would be easily pressed to ask, how can this be avoided or at least mediated in order to provide some feelings of permanence for the Jews residing past the Green Line. One would likely be more promising in asking how long before these actions by the Supreme Court removing Jewish residences start moving to the extremities of Israel such as the northern Galilee or the Negev in the south as that is more likely to occur before they finish with the Jews living and benefitting the lands of Judea and Samaria, as, with the Jews come opportunities for Palestinians, such as higher paying jobs than they would ever get from amongst other Arabs. One might be prone to suggest that the Supreme Court rulings and stealth building freeze seemingly supported by Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon which appears will last until United States President Obama leaves office and then it will depend on who is elected to the office and their desire to permit or prevent Jews living beyond the Green Line and supporting the letter of intents given Israeli Prime Minister Sharon by President George W. Bush which President Obama insisted was not binding on him and was placed in the waste bin with the Defense of Marriage Act and a slew of other bothersome items, both laws and regulations.

Some of the crowd of residents and concerned Jews gather to witness Beit El demolition and stand in support for those directly harmed by these acts at Beit El and those figuratively harmed simply through empathy and understanding of the pain of having your dreams of a new life in your own apartment rather than the continued condition of multi-generational homes where privacy is all but gone and many who had hopes as these apartments brought needed residential space but such hopes are now dashed and broken concrete.

This reign of horror will end when the Israeli public give their support to a party whose head on the ticket has set themselves apart by actively desiring to have the necessary confrontation with the Israeli Supreme Court and bring the Supreme Court under the domain of the Knesset and thus answerable to the people of Israel. This will most likely demand that Israel finally establish a Constitution which will make a change in the entirety of the Israeli government potentially restructuring every office from Prime Minister, President, even the Knesset and the methods in which all these positions are chosen. This solution to numerous problems which have begun to be discussed by the public including not solely the dictatorial usurious power grab by the Supreme Court to making the politicians directly responsible and answerable to the people and not only their party elites which has frozen Israeli politics for the past two decades while the population had changed drastically. My personal preferred idea would to make the Knesset the upper house in a bicameral legislature where the Knesset would be made up of seventy-five members chosen by the parties as is currently the manner to choose them and another forty-five chosen by nine areas divided by a set of equations which take into consideration population densities and purely geographic land area by a complex computerized algorithm formulated by a committee meeting every decade and formulating a new variant or keeping with what worked well last time and then crunched and drawn by a computer thus making the formulation of the algorithm still leaving some doubts how the equation will be interpreted by the computer as anybody who has done programs will tell you the machines can be difficult partners often not doing what one expected or even required. The other house would be directly elected by districts made through districts defined by population size with each of forty-five districts receiving two delegates and ten chosen by popular election of the whole of Israel. These districts will be drawn by computers under a program which demands that the total circumference length for all districts when totaled be the smallest total possible combined with each district being made as small as possible nearest the largest population centers. This may sound impossibly complicated but in this age of computers why not utilize them to our best advantage and allow them to make decisions which will affect the makeup of the governance while keeping it removed from manipulations which might favor one political view over others. As to how to choose the Prime Minister, that might be a problem but perhaps the Knesset chooses a candidate and the other house need approve it with a super-majority of around sixty-percent of the representatives. By the way, yes, I have been told I have an affinity for complexities. This is why I will not be amongst those deciding such things if for no other reason than my proclivities as that I have no political standing within Israeli politics beyond that of my wife voting in a similar manner as I have and when debate over differences charge forth I usually retreat and pray I take minimal damage to my ego and other parts.

Where Israel will find the person willing to withstand the firestorm which is all but guaranteed to follow the placing of such a person in as Prime Minister will likely be asking for the impossible, it may just require a person declaring their desire to retool the entire political make-up of the State of Israel and bring it out of the middle Twentieth Century and into the dawn of a new era which will include sufficient diversity, agility, imagination, use of technology and inspirational innovations such that it will have the potential of lasting well into the Twenty-Second Century, and I do mean the Twenty-Second Century. Where Israel might seek to find somebody capable and willing to suffer the Shakespearean sling and arrows of unfriendly and outrageous misfortune (lots of literary and potentially unfortunate license) is a question beyond this editorialist ability to know or even approaching a guess. The one thing I can feel assured about is whoever might be such a person, they will never have claimed while leading their party into the elections that they are not yet ready to assume the position of Prime Minister.

In closing, the recent destruction of the buildings in the midst of their construction under order by the Supreme Court and the refusal to entertain evidence of completed licensing and other required paperwork having been completed as the Supreme Court must never be second guessed and their decisions must never be challenged successfully no matter who gets harmed; especially if it is the Israelis living beyond the Green Line. And I cannot help but ask if this is actually a preplanned series of decisions being pursued in order to remove every last Israeli from beyond the Green Line in order to give everything to the Arab Palestinians thinking this would end the terrorism and other difficulties and satisfy the Europeans detractors while ignoring the reality that the only settlement the Arab Palestinians will accept has to be far beyond the minimalist Europeans as their statement from their charter in 1964 when the PLO was formed. There were no occupied or contested lands at that time and the only target was Israel, all of Israel, and Israel itself which remains the only acceptable point the Arab Palestinians will continue to accept. That is why the chant that is heard on colleges and universities campuses throughout the western world at anti-Israel, often claiming to be pro-Palestinian, demonstrations goes, “From the (Jordan) River to the (Mediterranean) Sea; Palestine must be free.” Any more questions?

There are so many rumors and misconceptions that one normally has no idea where to start. Perhaps taking a broader look and see what are some of the realities which even many of Israel’s detractors know are valid but are want to ever admit as to admit anything which shows Israel in an acceptable light, let alone a good light, is simply untenable as if we start to recognize those things Israel has attempted to do and offers made to try and reach a fair deal which meets almost every last demand made of her, where would such admissions end? Israel must be demonized and all unfair treatments must originate because of Israel existing at all. The reality is the pro-Arab Palestinian supporters refuse to admit, believe or allow any facts which might place Israel as having made any concessions ever to meet Arab demands because Israel must be drawn in the most unfavorable light and in hateful pictures and framed as pure evil on the brink of committing genocide at any moment. The Six Day War and its second attempt six years and a few odd months later known as the Yom Kippur War where Israel was attacked on the most solemn of days in the Jewish calendar, our Day of Atonement where virtually every Jew is in Synagogue and that particular time even two-thirds of the IDF soldiers and officers were on leave and Israel took precious hours before she was capable of repelling the assaults which from Syria were well on their way to Tel Aviv rolling across the Galilee while the Egyptians were dashing across the Sinai Peninsula and had surrounded and captured a whole division at the Suez Canal guarding the border from the Six Day War at half strength at best and completely under manned and easily overpowered. Israel turned the tide and was half way to Damascus from the Golan Heights, the previous armistice line and across the Suez Canal and advancing on Alexandria and Cairo when the world finally decided to protest the fighting. While Israel was being slaughtered and destroyed the world sat silent but once Israel had obviously turned the tides and within a few hours became the side advancing and approaching the aggressors’ capitals and major cities the world could stand the fighting no more. Despite the fact that had the tide not been turned nobody would have sparked the slightest objection but the world including the Soviet Union, Britain, France, the United States, the rest of the Security Council as well as the General Assembly, the Arab League, NATO, and a plethora of other groups, nations and associations as well as every human rights and anti-war group finally had to end this atrocious situation which could not be stomached; Israel must be prevented from spreading more violence and destruction, their advance is an affront.

Israel heeded the demands and even retreated back to the armistice lines from 1967 despite now holding both sides of the Suez Canal. She surrendered control of that vital waterway and once back where the Suez Canal was the border Israel did not press that she should share in its management as the forces of the world demanded that Egypt must control the Waterway even if one side was Israeli held. The entirety of nations sided with Egyptian control denying Israeli use of the Suez Canal as that was to be the normal and accepted fact of things. Israel was not to be permitted free access to the Suez Canal even if the Israeli Defense Force (IDF) occupied one side of the waterway. That is the world’s idea of fair and balanced. When time came to make peace with Egypt Israel offered Egypt every inch of land they had controlled but Egypt admitted that she had been occupying Gaza and that Gaza actually belonged to Israel and Egypt returned Gaza to Israeli control. Is Israel credited with returning the Sinai Peninsula to Egyptian control as part of their peace agreement? It does not appear as Israel is still denigrated as being an aggressor whose desires are to steal Arab lands at every corner, well, I guess if it has to be mentioned, except that one when Israel returned the Sinai but that was only done because Israel knew they could not defend those longer borders, yes, that is what we will tell ourselves, Israel had no other choice tactically. Never mind when Egypt had the advantage of the greatest surprise attack possible they still were routed by Israel who knew she could not defend that border? That does not appear to match the historic picture. But Israel must never be credited with doing anything noble or decent, Israel must be denigrated and trodden into the mire and never allowed to clean herself. Israel must be vilified at every opportunity thus Israel returned the Sinai because she was weak and unable to defend it must be the reality we sell the world, Israel was not being magnanimous after all, what could the Sinai provide Israel? The Sinai only has all of Egyptian oil wells and would present Israel with several multiples of size and depth and would allow Israel to defend her waterway to the Red Sea and on to the Indian Ocean and Asia and the Pacific coast of the Americas. What would Israel want with all of that? Those who are Israel detractors cannot admit the obvious as to do so would allow for that first crack in their arguments which are made of the most fragile of structures that are crafter out of lies, deceit and pure hatred, anti-Semitism, anti-Israelism, anti-Zionism and nothing more.

Then there were the offers during the final weeks of the administration under President Bill Clinton where Yasser Arafat walked out of the talks in Paris in disgust, that we can admit, but why disgust. Yasser Arafat felt betrayed and trapped so he fled. He knew that the end of his objections had been breached so he had his car and driver running and waiting in the front of the hotel to make good his escape. The reality hit him and he felt the walls closing in as President Clinton demanded an early morning meeting for the signing of the agreement, the very agreement Arafat had demanded just the night before that had to be why President Clinton was so excited that he called an early morning meeting with both sides to be in attendance. The trap had been set and was about to be sprung, the trap set in motion by Arafat’s own demands and words, that the worst of traps when one’s own words made the trap. The late afternoon President Clinton had met privately with Yasser Arafat and demanded politely as was his way of disarming even the arch terror master who invented aircraft hijacking, suicide murdering bombers and a plethora means of death and destruction was now asked the question no Arab Palestinian ever cares or is willing to answer, namely, what would you accept to make peace. Yasser Arafat was trapped by that wily master, President Clinton had done the unthinkable, the unprecedented, he had demanded to know what would seal the deal of Arafat and he would have to give an answer. What could he demand that the Israeli Prime Minister could never accept, what would guarantee rejection. Yasser Arafat knew he had to sell a lie because President Clinton would never in a million years accept his demand that Israel be destroyed, its Jews turned into slaves to serve the Arabs, which would never be accepted by President Clinton. What would President Clinton accept and Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barack would have to refuse. Yasser Arafat took a gamble and demanded all of the West Bank and whatever part of Jerusalem or land swaps, things we can only guess but he gave his word, his worthless word to President Clinton who probably walked him back from the extreme demands but not so far that Arafat feared the worst, Israeli agreement. But the breakfast meeting gave away the worst possible situation, President Clinton had also pressed Barak to meet those demands Arafat had agreed were acceptable, what to do, run, that must have made Arafat feel like a trapped rat and all he could do was flee with Madeline Albright, the United States Secretary of State, waddling and shuffling as fast as he little body permitted calling after Arafat to come back and fulfill his promise, but the car was running, the door open and the driver behind the wheel, the getaway went off as required by the dire situation, peace with Israel the alternative.

Perhaps President Obama who claimed he wanted to have his Presidency reflect the best of the former Presidents, the Presidencies of Franklin Delano Roosevelt, Abraham Lincoln, and perhaps in the back of his mind also James Madison, Teddy Roosevelt, and William Jefferson Clinton and even once I believe even Ronald Reagan might have snuck in there in a moment of weakness, weakness from President Obama, what am I thinking. Actually, should President Obama desire to make the world remember him for making the impossible possible and actually reach an agreement between Israel and the Arab Palestinians led by Mahmoud Abbas then there is a suggestion I would love to place in his ear that might just make such a deal achievable. President Clinton had the right idea, don’t press Israel, just sit down with Mahmoud Abbas, mano-a-mano, one-on-one, in a place where two men can ignore the bothersome world of political gamesmanship and discuss real problems and find real solutions and work with Mahmoud Abbas, President Obama by himself with Mahmoud Abbas by his self and allow that gifted oratory which was supposed to swoon the rest of the world and give it all President Obama can with lilt and tenor voice with whispers and exclamations of dire demands and hammer out an agreement which President Obama honestly believes that Prime Minister Netanyahu might be persuaded to accept and get the one item President Clinton miscalculated on, get Abbas to sign the offer such that if Netanyahu signs the document as well then there is peace. Let the Arab Palestinians finally once again tell the world in writing what it will take for peace to be achieved. If Abbas is honest he will hand President Obama a map without any Israel on it and everything between the Jordan and the Sea as Palestine and President Obama will have his answer, this is a war to the last soul and nothing less. But if Abbas signs an acceptable agreement which has even the most remote possibility that Netanyahu will accept, then President Obama will not only have earned that Nobel Peace Prize but made himself eligible to be the only man in history to win the Nobel Peace Prize twice and he will deserve such. What about it President Obama? Great risks is what makes great men, risk not gain not, risk it all and maybe gain the accolades you know you deserve but have been denied, take this chance, take the offensive and ask Abbas what he will agree to for peace and what he is willing to give up. Unfortunately, I honestly suspect that Mahmoud Abbas heard from Yasser Arafat about the Clinton entrapment and has been warned against being even remotely reasonable and Abbas will demand everything right down to that last piece of sand on any Tel Aviv beach and the furthest tip of a pier in Eilat and the furthest heights of Mount Hermon and all seven hills of Yerushalayim, nothing less. Then President Obama, himself, should be obliged to tell the world of the intransigence of Mahmoud Abbas and how when faced with the opportunity to make reasonable requests and have the State he claims to desire, refused to accept any State of Israel. As that is the truth, then the world needs to hear it and the truth will set all the world free from this folly which simply continues to take lives needlessly. We know Hamas’s answer, every Jew on the planet dead, that is their idea for peace. Let us see if Abbas is any less the lunatic and desires a state or simply desires the slaughter of the Jews as many suspect. Prove one side or the other and then be honest before the world. Is that too much to ask, because if it is, then we need to find some world leader willing to go that extra mile and find that path which President Clinton found and once again risk taking that otherwise untrod path one more time and seek a real answer, a real truth and a real peace.
