Future Trip as a European Goes to Jerusalem

Somewhere down the road, we will imagine that the Palestinian Authority has acceded to accepting the 1949 Armistice Lines, the Green Line, as their border as the final agreements are ironed out setting the border inch by ever painful inch, or centimeter by ever painful centimeter. The borders will loom important for this Easter trip of a Church group from somewhere in leftist pro-Palestinian, anti-Israel, anti-Zionist but professing to love Jews and declare they should have their nation with safe and secure borders not too far from city center Tel Aviv and are supporting the Peace Process French denizens. The flight of this fifty younger Christians who are members of Christians for Palestine from the river to, well, some of the sea arrived on schedule at Ben Gurion International Airport. Of course their flight on an A 320 Airbus landed in Greece from which their group was broken up between two smaller and agile prop driven aircraft which once crossing from the Mediterranean to land flew just barely over the rooftops avoiding a couple of skyscrapers newly built with modern anti-missile technology built into the structure of the building. The ends of the rail-guns were evident on the east and southern faces of these new buildings. One of the members on the larger plane gave a summary of the technology, speed of the small but deadly projectile used and the radar that guided each shot. The secret to this weapon was the projective speed at close to ten times the speed of sound which meant that almost no calculations for trajectory were necessary as the ‘bullet’ reached its target within millionths of a second.

Many on that flight nodded almost in unison as if that would give it more of a feeling that they actually understood the need and all that went into requiring these buildings be so equipped. The truth is that at least two of these towers are being erected across Israel and are called the sentinel towers and each city has building restrictions for height no taller than twenty-five floors east of these towers and each is building a minimum of one tower per half million residents and workforce numbers combined. Their landing was more abrupt than the frequent flyers who did not fly into Ben Gurion are used to, as the aircraft no sooner landed than it sped towards the terminals and the protective wall erected east of the airport and reaching skyward almost a quarter of a mile, blocking any view of the Judean hilltops from the airfield, and the airfield from said hilltops.

Our imaginary group breezed through customs as their group had been all but tucked into bed by security before they even boarded their flight back in France. They met at the prearranged hotel where a lavish kosher lunch was served and all rested but were talking about how anxious they were to visit the holy sited in Jerusalem. Their Arab waiter advised them that they should be more careful and never refer to Jerusalem as it had an older and more venerated name of al-Quds. Their leader thanked the waiter for his unsolicited advice and after he had left the table continued discussing Jerusalem as the western part of the city would be the Israeli capital while the easternmost parts the Arab capital. Originally the religious areas such as the Temple Mount were protected for free access by baby-blue helmeted United Nations troops from Brazil and Peru, but they had fled after their first firefight with Palestinian Security forces who now ruled these areas where Israelis were only allowed limited access, usually to escort tourists on tours and even then were restricted to using only the Arab and Islamic names for the sites as listed by UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) in their list of World Heritage Sites. After lunch the French group boarded their two chartered buses and on each bus at least one person in complete puzzlement being unable to operate the windows yelled out in frustration, “How in the name of all the Saints do these widows open?” to which the bus driver calmly responded, “They don’t open, they’re bullet proof glass.” The French tourist just shook his head mumbling something about overly paranoid Jews. The trip out of Tel Aviv was pleasant and they started to climb the long ride cutting through the passes and canyons towards Jerusalem. The French tourists had settled down, run out of songs to half-heartedly sing along and were watching the trees pass by.

That was when their education on the realities of peace in the Middle East started as they heard the patter of objects striking the roof and sides of the bus. A number of the French got nervous and asked the driver, “That isn’t what I think it is, is it?” He queried back asking, “What do you think it is?” Frenchman, “Bullets?” Driver, you got it, now sit down and pray it remains only bullets, we can absorb them.” The French tourist was obviously unsettled about the implications of vulnerability but was unsure from what they need fear and was too horrified to even contemplate asking. That was when they turned a corner and at the side of the road was a bus that looked very much like the ones in which they road except the top was torn open as if by a large hunting knife skinning a large rodent and the insides were burned to ashes. One horrified French tourist asked, “When did, what did, are we safe?” The bus driver’s brow began to show beads of sweat and he went unnervingly quiet ignoring their questions and often surveying the hills and crags which overlooked the highway and rail line adjacent to the roadway.

Suddenly the road next to the second bus exploded into shrapnel, flames and chunks of road surface. The bus sped up painfully slowly as a second explosion rocked the first bus but it continued its struggle to speed faster along the road. Over the next mile five or six explosions struck, the closest right between the two buses. The roadway was littered with over a dozen burnt out shells of buses and near countless cars. Once through the stretch of road, the hills dropped away and there was a respite where the land was less stark. There ahead was an area of roadway with a huge cement wall on either side of the road with dirt piled for over a couple hundred yards on the sides of the walls away from the roadway. The road median widened and there was a rest stop where the two buses pulled in and announced there would be a fifteen minute stop and warned that they not go outside the safe areas and to never cross into the red striped areas or beyond as such was unsafe. The frightened almost out of their minds tourists numbly went through the motions of a normal rest stop except nobody talked and each group clung to each other as if safety could be found in sheer numbers.

The remainder of the drive to Jerusalem was uneventful and the tourists learned to accept the patter of bullets on the side and roof as being as normal as raindrops in a thunderstorm. One can never know if the experience changed their outlooks and shaped new thoughts though one’s best bet is within a few weeks the entirety of the bus rides to and from Jerusalem will have faded and they will join in the pro-Palestinian anti Jew rallies with their friends and never will the emotional and traumatic trip through the gauntlet between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem be mentioned or given a second thought. After all, was not Israel building a new highway and train track almost five-hundred yards underground linking Tel Aviv and Jerusalem making the trip as normal as possible. It was even planned to us fiber optic cables to project the scene as if one was driving on the surface making the trip more normal and exactly like the trip above without the bullets and RPGs (rocket propelled grenades aka anti-tank weapons). All will seem safe and secure as those Israelis manage to survive and even thrive no matter what danger is imposed by a hateful world, and isn’t survival what it is all about. So what if Israel needs to be on a war setting, they will cope and if they don’t, then the world will be rid of Israel and the Jews dispersed and roaming the world from one exile to the next always living at the kindness of their betters as it has always been and should be.

The Israelis and Jews in general could attempt to demand that Eretz Yisroel, the Land of Israel be made whole as was First Apportioned by Hashem.

As a Zionist and a Jew there is an answer to that last sentiment, Never Again! Israel will live, will never come to the situation as depicted aboveno matter how badly the United Nations, European Union or nations of the world desire her destruction and the chopping pieces off every fifty years or so, no, Never Again. Israel has been reborn, Israel lives and Israel will continue to live and face the entire world if necessary to make it so. Hashem gave us this land and Hashem will guard us in this land providing we take on that task first. The waters did not part until one Israelite jumped in and walked straight across allowing the water to reach his nostrils and as he submerged the waters parted. We must walk into the water until it reaches our nostrils and must take back our lands as described in the Torah and let the world do as they please. We are on a mission from Hashem and nobody should stand in the way of Hashem and the children of Israel. Am Yisroel Chai.

There are so many rumors and misconceptions that one normally has no idea where to start. Perhaps taking a broader look and see what are some of the realities which even many of Israel’s detractors know are valid but are want to ever admit as to admit anything which shows Israel in an acceptable light, let alone a good light, is simply untenable as if we start to recognize those things Israel has attempted to do and offers made to try and reach a fair deal which meets almost every last demand made of her, where would such admissions end? Israel must be demonized and all unfair treatments must originate because of Israel existing at all. The reality is the pro-Arab Palestinian supporters refuse to admit, believe or allow any facts which might place Israel as having made any concessions ever to meet Arab demands because Israel must be drawn in the most unfavorable light and in hateful pictures and framed as pure evil on the brink of committing genocide at any moment. The Six Day War and its second attempt six years and a few odd months later known as the Yom Kippur War where Israel was attacked on the most solemn of days in the Jewish calendar, our Day of Atonement where virtually every Jew is in Synagogue and that particular time even two-thirds of the IDF soldiers and officers were on leave and Israel took precious hours before she was capable of repelling the assaults which from Syria were well on their way to Tel Aviv rolling across the Galilee while the Egyptians were dashing across the Sinai Peninsula and had surrounded and captured a whole division at the Suez Canal guarding the border from the Six Day War at half strength at best and completely under manned and easily overpowered. Israel turned the tide and was half way to Damascus from the Golan Heights, the previous armistice line and across the Suez Canal and advancing on Alexandria and Cairo when the world finally decided to protest the fighting. While Israel was being slaughtered and destroyed the world sat silent but once Israel had obviously turned the tides and within a few hours became the side advancing and approaching the aggressors’ capitals and major cities the world could stand the fighting no more. Despite the fact that had the tide not been turned nobody would have sparked the slightest objection but the world including the Soviet Union, Britain, France, the United States, the rest of the Security Council as well as the General Assembly, the Arab League, NATO, and a plethora of other groups, nations and associations as well as every human rights and anti-war group finally had to end this atrocious situation which could not be stomached; Israel must be prevented from spreading more violence and destruction, their advance is an affront.

Israel heeded the demands and even retreated back to the armistice lines from 1967 despite now holding both sides of the Suez Canal. She surrendered control of that vital waterway and once back where the Suez Canal was the border Israel did not press that she should share in its management as the forces of the world demanded that Egypt must control the Waterway even if one side was Israeli held. The entirety of nations sided with Egyptian control denying Israeli use of the Suez Canal as that was to be the normal and accepted fact of things. Israel was not to be permitted free access to the Suez Canal even if the Israeli Defense Force (IDF) occupied one side of the waterway. That is the world’s idea of fair and balanced. When time came to make peace with Egypt Israel offered Egypt every inch of land they had controlled but Egypt admitted that she had been occupying Gaza and that Gaza actually belonged to Israel and Egypt returned Gaza to Israeli control. Is Israel credited with returning the Sinai Peninsula to Egyptian control as part of their peace agreement? It does not appear as Israel is still denigrated as being an aggressor whose desires are to steal Arab lands at every corner, well, I guess if it has to be mentioned, except that one when Israel returned the Sinai but that was only done because Israel knew they could not defend those longer borders, yes, that is what we will tell ourselves, Israel had no other choice tactically. Never mind when Egypt had the advantage of the greatest surprise attack possible they still were routed by Israel who knew she could not defend that border? That does not appear to match the historic picture. But Israel must never be credited with doing anything noble or decent, Israel must be denigrated and trodden into the mire and never allowed to clean herself. Israel must be vilified at every opportunity thus Israel returned the Sinai because she was weak and unable to defend it must be the reality we sell the world, Israel was not being magnanimous after all, what could the Sinai provide Israel? The Sinai only has all of Egyptian oil wells and would present Israel with several multiples of size and depth and would allow Israel to defend her waterway to the Red Sea and on to the Indian Ocean and Asia and the Pacific coast of the Americas. What would Israel want with all of that? Those who are Israel detractors cannot admit the obvious as to do so would allow for that first crack in their arguments which are made of the most fragile of structures that are crafter out of lies, deceit and pure hatred, anti-Semitism, anti-Israelism, anti-Zionism and nothing more.

Then there were the offers during the final weeks of the administration under President Bill Clinton where Yasser Arafat walked out of the talks in Paris in disgust, that we can admit, but why disgust. Yasser Arafat felt betrayed and trapped so he fled. He knew that the end of his objections had been breached so he had his car and driver running and waiting in the front of the hotel to make good his escape. The reality hit him and he felt the walls closing in as President Clinton demanded an early morning meeting for the signing of the agreement, the very agreement Arafat had demanded just the night before that had to be why President Clinton was so excited that he called an early morning meeting with both sides to be in attendance. The trap had been set and was about to be sprung, the trap set in motion by Arafat’s own demands and words, that the worst of traps when one’s own words made the trap. The late afternoon President Clinton had met privately with Yasser Arafat and demanded politely as was his way of disarming even the arch terror master who invented aircraft hijacking, suicide murdering bombers and a plethora means of death and destruction was now asked the question no Arab Palestinian ever cares or is willing to answer, namely, what would you accept to make peace. Yasser Arafat was trapped by that wily master, President Clinton had done the unthinkable, the unprecedented, he had demanded to know what would seal the deal of Arafat and he would have to give an answer. What could he demand that the Israeli Prime Minister could never accept, what would guarantee rejection. Yasser Arafat knew he had to sell a lie because President Clinton would never in a million years accept his demand that Israel be destroyed, its Jews turned into slaves to serve the Arabs, which would never be accepted by President Clinton. What would President Clinton accept and Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barack would have to refuse. Yasser Arafat took a gamble and demanded all of the West Bank and whatever part of Jerusalem or land swaps, things we can only guess but he gave his word, his worthless word to President Clinton who probably walked him back from the extreme demands but not so far that Arafat feared the worst, Israeli agreement. But the breakfast meeting gave away the worst possible situation, President Clinton had also pressed Barak to meet those demands Arafat had agreed were acceptable, what to do, run, that must have made Arafat feel like a trapped rat and all he could do was flee with Madeline Albright, the United States Secretary of State, waddling and shuffling as fast as he little body permitted calling after Arafat to come back and fulfill his promise, but the car was running, the door open and the driver behind the wheel, the getaway went off as required by the dire situation, peace with Israel the alternative.

Perhaps President Obama who claimed he wanted to have his Presidency reflect the best of the former Presidents, the Presidencies of Franklin Delano Roosevelt, Abraham Lincoln, and perhaps in the back of his mind also James Madison, Teddy Roosevelt, and William Jefferson Clinton and even once I believe even Ronald Reagan might have snuck in there in a moment of weakness, weakness from President Obama, what am I thinking. Actually, should President Obama desire to make the world remember him for making the impossible possible and actually reach an agreement between Israel and the Arab Palestinians led by Mahmoud Abbas then there is a suggestion I would love to place in his ear that might just make such a deal achievable. President Clinton had the right idea, don’t press Israel, just sit down with Mahmoud Abbas, mano-a-mano, one-on-one, in a place where two men can ignore the bothersome world of political gamesmanship and discuss real problems and find real solutions and work with Mahmoud Abbas, President Obama by himself with Mahmoud Abbas by his self and allow that gifted oratory which was supposed to swoon the rest of the world and give it all President Obama can with lilt and tenor voice with whispers and exclamations of dire demands and hammer out an agreement which President Obama honestly believes that Prime Minister Netanyahu might be persuaded to accept and get the one item President Clinton miscalculated on, get Abbas to sign the offer such that if Netanyahu signs the document as well then there is peace. Let the Arab Palestinians finally once again tell the world in writing what it will take for peace to be achieved. If Abbas is honest he will hand President Obama a map without any Israel on it and everything between the Jordan and the Sea as Palestine and President Obama will have his answer, this is a war to the last soul and nothing less. But if Abbas signs an acceptable agreement which has even the most remote possibility that Netanyahu will accept, then President Obama will not only have earned that Nobel Peace Prize but made himself eligible to be the only man in history to win the Nobel Peace Prize twice and he will deserve such. What about it President Obama? Great risks is what makes great men, risk not gain not, risk it all and maybe gain the accolades you know you deserve but have been denied, take this chance, take the offensive and ask Abbas what he will agree to for peace and what he is willing to give up. Unfortunately, I honestly suspect that Mahmoud Abbas heard from Yasser Arafat about the Clinton entrapment and has been warned against being even remotely reasonable and Abbas will demand everything right down to that last piece of sand on any Tel Aviv beach and the furthest tip of a pier in Eilat and the furthest heights of Mount Hermon and all seven hills of Yerushalayim, nothing less. Then President Obama, himself, should be obliged to tell the world of the intransigence of Mahmoud Abbas and how when faced with the opportunity to make reasonable requests and have the State he claims to desire, refused to accept any State of Israel. As that is the truth, then the world needs to hear it and the truth will set all the world free from this folly which simply continues to take lives needlessly. We know Hamas’s answer, every Jew on the planet dead, that is their idea for peace. Let us see if Abbas is any less the lunatic and desires a state or simply desires the slaughter of the Jews as many suspect. Prove one side or the other and then be honest before the world. Is that too much to ask, because if it is, then we need to find some world leader willing to go that extra mile and find that path which President Clinton found and once again risk taking that otherwise untrod path one more time and seek a real answer, a real truth and a real peace.

United Nations Demonization of Israel Backfires

United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) has released its self-declared, in-depth, revealing, factual, unbiased, principled and unprejudiced report equating the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) tactics during Operation Protective Edge with the terror-motivated acts by Hamas. Initially the Canadian Jurist William Schabas had been appointed to head the UNHRC committee tasked with investigating Operation Protective Edge to assure that the ensuing report would be transparent, factual and above reproach but was forced to resign that post as he was found to have a long history of anti-Israel invective and had done contract work with the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) terror group among other damning inferences. When interviewed about his feelings over the entire matter of his possibly biased and anti-Israel invectives, part of his response gave particular insight to the validity of the claim that had so referred those shortcomings and to Israeli officials’ denunciations of his appointment, he was quoted to declare, “I wasn’t insulted. To be insulted you need to respect the people who criticize you, and I don’t have respect for them.” Answering the accusations equating his appointment by Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman (Yisrael Beytenu) claiming, This appointment simply “serves to show that even the biggest hypocrites in the international organs cannot ignore the fact that Schabas’ appointment to investigate Israel was akin to the appointment of Cain to investigate the murder of Abel,” William Schabas shot back, “That isn’t worthy of a response. I didn’t murder anyone. Is legal counsel to the PLO a mistake? Is criticizing Netanyahu a crime?”

Further research at the time had revealed more transgressions and focused on Prof. William Schabas statements when speaking in a 2013 panel revealed his great eagerness to hold such a position enabling him to prosecute Israel for war crimes stated he holds a “profound belief, that international law can be used to demonstrate and underscore the violations committed by the state of Israel, and moreover can be used to hold accountable individuals who have perpetrated international crimes against the people of Palestine.” He added even if that involved “Years ago there were no courts at all,” he noted (at minute 25:15 in the video embedded below). “When (the charge of) ‘genocide’ was invented there was no court at all. There was no court for crimes against humanity, but we have them now. And with a bit of luck and by twisting things and maneuvering we can get them before the courts.” He also has stated that should he ever have been granted such an opportunity to prosecute Israel, “I would have been inclined to talk about crimes against humanity, war crimes, and the crime of aggression, all of which I think can be shown have been perpetrated at various times during the history of the state of Israel. These are all crimes that have become increasingly robust in their definition in recent decades and for which we now have international institutions capable of prosecuting the crimes.”

Replacing Jurist William Schabas was, what some, ourselves included, might perceive as an equitable replacement holding many of the same deficiencies as Schabas, Judge Mary McGowan Davis of the 2009 Goldstone Committee fame as she sat in that ‘august and impartial’ tribunal as well which Judge Richard Goldstone who chaired that investigatory inquisition later retracted the report Judge Richard Goldstone wrote on Friday in the Washington Post, “If I had known then what I know now, the Goldstone Report would have been a different document.” Further in his confessitorial article Judge Goldstone wrote, “While the investigations published by the Israeli military and recognized in the U.N. committee’s report have established the validity of some incidents that we investigated in cases involving individual soldiers, they also indicate that civilians were not intentionally targeted as a matter of policy.” Judge Mary McGowan Davis has never shown a single iota of regret nor expressed her feeling that there may have been a motivational bias to the findings of the Goldstone Report committee’s inquiries.

This excuse for a report basically goes to whatever extremes that were necessary to denounce Israel, her leadership, and most insulting of all, the IDF of crimes equal or greater than those of the arch terrorists of Hamas whose charter calls for the annihilation of every last Jew on planet earth and the conquest of the planet forcing every inhabitant to not merely believe in Islam, but to do so with the same convictions, hatreds and depravations as do the leadership of Hamas or to die by their sword. Such degrading and damning accusations not only need be refuted and fought with every fiber of muscle and brain available to Israel and her friends but also by those who cherish and honor truth and equality. It is one thing to investigate every conceivable angle as a method of assuring that no stone is left unturned and that every ill intent becomes revealed and a completely different thing to list every imagined criminal act simply to equate those acting purely in defense of their nation and its people with a terrorist groups whose aim is not only to inflict as much harm, structural damage and loss of life on the other side but to also assure that the result is of equal or greater harm, structural damage and loss of life on those who they are presumably defending simply so that it can be claimed that both sides are equally guilty before the courts and committees tasked with the enforcement of international law. The audacity and cold-blooded calculations of Hamas and their allies such as Islamic Jihad and al-Qaeda was revealed during Operation Protective Edge when they reported that the IDF forces had targeted and caused grievous damage to a Gazan hospital when they knew and the IDF had tracked a rocket fired from Gaza, one of four with other three striking in the Mediterranean Sea, the Shati Refugee Camp and Ashkelon in addition to the one striking the Shifa Hospital which was alleged to have been an Israeli strike. We reported this in our article titled How to Spell Hypocrite, US or UN? published on April 28, 2015, along with the tracking picture below depicting the tracks of the four rockets fired from within Gaza by Hamas, Islamic Jihad or another of the other terror groups operating with the blessings of Hamas Security Forces, the so-to-speak law in Gaza.

Radar Trajectory of barrage launched from within Gaza depicting strike points including the short round strike on the Shifa Hospital which Israel blamed by Hamas and Media accepted Hamas talking point unchecked

Perhaps this would be a good time to recall our recent recounting of the report from Professor Stern of Vanderbilt Law School’s content which we had quoted just the other day on June 20, 2015, in our article Coddling Barbarians While Condemning the Civilized
“It was abundantly clear that IDF commanders had gone beyond any mandates that international law requires to avoid civilian casualties. The IDF’s warnings certainly go beyond what the law requires, but they also sometimes go beyond what would be operational good sense elsewhere. People are going to start thinking that the United States and other Western democracies should follow the same examples in different types of conflict. That’s a real risk.” A further conclusion from the report added that the IDF, “is setting an unreasonable precedent for other democratic countries of the world who may also be fighting in asymmetric wars against brutal non-state actors who abuse these laws.” Pnina Sharvit Baruch, a senior researcher at the Institute for National Security Studies (INSS) concurred with the report adding her assessment stating legal advisers from other militaries around the world confront her with “recurring claims” that the IDF “is going too far in its self-imposed restrictions intended to protect civilians, and that this may cause trouble down the line for other democratic nations fighting organized armed groups.”

The report from above painted an entirely different picture of the IDF actions than that of the United Nations, not much of a surprise there. Perhaps weighing the targeted aim of the two articles might provide further insight as to which report was objective and which report was objectionable. The report by Professor Stern of Vanderbilt Law School was commissioned and performed to show what was the level of the IDF during Operation Protective Edge and how their standards would impact other Western Nation’s forces when operating in anti-terror interventions under conditions of a similar nature to those of Israel operating against Hamas, Islamic Jihad and even some ISIS and al-Qaeda forces which are rumored to also operate out of Gaza along with Fatah, the political party which Mahmoud Abbas holds the chairmanship, and where the terrorists are hiding amongst innocent civilians and even going to the extreme of using them as human shields, especially using children to guard rocket launchers and mortar launch sites. The United Nations Human Rights Council was investigating and writing a report to satisfy the one-hundred-ninety-three nations voting in the General Assembly where the Arab League is allied with the Non-Aligned National Movement (NAM) which combines to over one-hundred of the General Assembly votes and almost always unite on any article for discussions and vote which either criticizes Israel or elevates the Arab/Muslim countries in return for support for all items viewed favorable by the nations in NAM. The motivations speak for themselves as one side sought only to vilify Israel even at the expense of the terror groups in Gaza who honestly could not care less about what the United Nations may say or do, they are already considered as a terrorist entity so what additional harm could come to them, and the other study wanted to know exactly how stringently the Israeli troops were restricted in their actions against those very same terrorist groups and what they found was fairly frightening for the Western military elite military commanders knowing that much of the same cautionary restrictions utilized by the IDF very well could be expected to define their actions. Imagine the Pentagon having to send a drone to drop leaflets on an intended site ten minutes before using a second drone to launch the attack on the command tent in the midst of the camp and expecting to remove an al-Qaeda commander in the process? I do not recall ever reading that such was their procedure nor do I expect it ever will be. Even when it comes to restrictions that are self-imposed a double standard exists and is imposed by the IDF on the IDF without expecting any other military in the world to have to emulate their precautions.

Meanwhile, the usual culprits will laud over the results of this predictably slanted and abusive report which equates the IDF and their tactics and precautions to protect innocents and civilians from harm simply by being in a targeted location at the wrong time with Hamas who regularly all but drapes young children over their rocket launchers. It is exactly as Prime Minister Netanyahu stated on NBC’s Meet the Press, “The difference between us, we are using missile defense to protect our civilians, and they’re using their civilians to protect their missiles.” There is no comparison between the IDF and Hamas and company beyond the simple reality that both are on the same battleground. Equating these opposites is the ultimate in hypocrisy and the culmination of what was the intent when it was decided to open the United Nations from its original membership which included only those nations who were actually capable of enforcing order and principles of civilized behavior and governance to simply any nation caring to apply thus turning the General Assembly into the voice for dictators and terrorists. Who cannot remember Yasser Arafat walking onto the stage before the gathered nations of the General Assembly wearing his usual green fatigues and with his decorative handgun strapped to his side looking like he was recovering from a weekend binge and coming straight there without the comfort of a shower and a shave. That in and of itself speaks to the respect deserved by most of the United Nations agencies, the ever present agencies who have been investigated and almost regularly found to be distributing the food supplies under their care in exchange for sexual pleasures and other equally offensive acts. The United Nations has become such a disgrace that people would be well-advised to hide their daughters and wives when the United Nations is coming to their aid otherwise who knows what depravities will result. Yet these are the people who claim the moral righteousness to sit in judgement of the IDF and United States Armed Forces. Are these two institutions above the occasional but rare misdeeds? Yes, every military, every group has a few bad apples in their barrel, but these two armed services also police their own and honestly investigate charges and have recorded evidence of placing such soldiers found guilty of improprieties in prison and other punishments and their receiving less than honorable discharge from their service, a mark that is inerasable and will follow and dog one for the remainder of their lives. Such a discharge speaks loudly and will prevent such a person from ever receiving the trust of the people in the nation. Perhaps partly it is knowing that if found out one faces such dire results which adds that one extra threat making such misbehavior that rare though I prefer to believe that their military members are that honorable simply because it is the right way to act and to treat others with the same respect they wish to receive.
