Trump Trumps Clinton Now What? (Electoral College 279 to 259)

The total as of this writing was Trump with 279 Electoral votes from approximately 59,441,968 (47.5%) popular vote while Clinton held 259 Electoral votes from approximately 59,649,606 (47.7%) popular votes. Once again the election goes opposite the popular vote, something often criticized as are the men who designed the Electoral College such that the big state numbers have their advantage but face it being slightly marginalized by the setup of the Electoral system. First let us indulge in a quick review on how the Electoral College works and the reasoning for it being used by the United States. The system is easily broken down. Every state and the nation’s capital, Washington D.C. all get two electors for what is their Senatorial representation (Washington D.C, is treated as if it were a small state with representation of a single delegate in the House of Representatives and two Senators). After this each state receives an elector for each Representative they hold in the House of Representatives. California receives fifty-three Electors for their fifty-three Representatives plus two more for their Senators for a total of fifty-five Electors. Wyoming receives a single Elector for their sole Representatives plus two for their Senators for a total of three Electors. This allots greater representation per person for Wyoming over California by a ratio over five-to-one and it is this type of disparity which causes many to loathe the system. The reason the Founding Fathers went with this seemingly convoluted system was identical to the reason for a bicameral Congress with one side, the House of Representatives, set by population thus favoring the larger states and the other side, the Senate, with two per state providing the states themselves with equal representation regardless of population size or land mass. The Founding Fathers realized that should they have permitted straight democracy that this would have produced mass rule, followed soon by mob rule and then collapse as had every democracy throughout history, and they desired building a nation which would be more stable. The main difference came about when the House of Representatives ceased being based on one Representative per set number of people to a set cap of four-hundred-thirty-five Representatives and the States receiving a minimum of one Representative and the remainder allotted proportionally. This also capped the Electors in the Electoral College at five-hundred-thirty-eight once Washington D.C. was allotted three Electors despite not having any actual representation in the Congress.

Next we need talk about the polling data being so skewed throughout the campaign and only closing in the final thirty-six hours though the lead did narrow slowly before the rush to even the night before Election Day. There are numerous claims as to why the polls consistently favored Hillary Clinton over Donald Trump. One claim was that their intent was to press the idea that Trump could not win, period. This would, in theory, berate Trump supporters with so much bad news wearing them down such that they would give up and not bother to vote. The problem with this tactic is the vast number of Trump voters fell into two main categories, those who believed that a President Trump was the answer to America’s woes and those who were voting to emphasize their view that America was failing them and its Constitution. The first group was true believers with many voting for their first time despite having been registered for years. This was evidenced by the record number of voters in Republican primary elections. These people would have walked over burning embers to have voted Trump just as Hillary Clinton’s true believers were voting for her no matter what. The second group was making their voice heard loud and clear as they had a message for America and thus were determined to vote. A majority of Trump voters were with him at the start when he was one amongst seventeen and stayed the course. The third group of Trump supporters was the “stop the Hildabeast” and would stop at almost nothing to prevent the catastrophic consequences of Hillary Clinton being coronated President. Trump was not their choice, he was their life raft and these people were highly motivated to vote but were also motivated not to tell pollsters the truth about their vote choice. There was a minimum number of people who were pulling the Trump lever in the voting booth who were not firmly entrenched in the ranks of Trump supporters though for many a varied and different reason but were all there for the whole four quarters and would have remained just as committed should the race have gone into sudden-death overtime, which it came close to doing.

Then there is the fact that the media is skewed to the left end of the political spectrum. When one considers that Fox News is touted, even victimized cast as a reactionary, right-wing, extremist, conservative to the point of reactionary news station where every anchor and host must prove their ultra-conservative bonafides in order to get in the door, then it becomes obvious that the remainder of the news is far more liberal and even leftist by comparison. What then pushes the rest of the news syndicates even further left is this definition of every and any-body of note at Fox News is, by definition, ultra-pure reactionary-conservative which presumably includes, wait, wait, wait for it, Chris Wallace (see image below). As per the link, Chris Wallace worked at ABC News for 14 years where he served as the senior correspondent for Primetime Thursday and a substitute host for Nightline. Before that Chris Wallace served a NBC’s Chief White House correspondent from 1982-1989. Chris Wallace moderated Meet the Press from 1987-1988. Chris Wallace also anchored the Sunday edition of NBC Nightly News from 1982-1984 and 1986-1987. Chris Wallace began his career with NBC at WNBC-TV (NBC 4) in New York in 1975. Chris Wallace is, at the most extreme of his leaning right, a moderate of impeccable discernment. Fox News is considered to be so far to the right because the rest of the news groups live with the academics in unassailable Ivory Towers found only in the extreme leftward climes. Fox News is to the right of almost all news services with the exception of CBN (Christian Broadcasting Network) and a few select others and many on-line commentators most of whom have their following and limited audiences. Like in all things political, it is all relative to where you yourself choose to stand. Us, well, we stand so far off to the outside that we fall Beyond the Cusp.

Meanwhile, let’s get back to the election. Donald Trump did win, so stop pinching yourself. Hillary Clinton gave an honest and worthy concession speech in which she expressed her hopes that though she was not fated to break that glass ceiling, that perhaps one of her many supporters, possibly one in the hall listening as she spoke, would be the woman to break through shattering that glass ceiling once and for all. Trump was gracious as well in his victory comment where he praised Hillary Clinton for her determined and high pressure campaign which had pushed him to strive and become a better person in response. Trump thanked and congratulated the Republican candidates and politicians who backed him for their support. He thanked Dr. Ben Carson, Chris Christie, Rudy Giuliani, his family including parents, brother, his other brother who has passed on, his wife, children and so on and thanked a number of workers he noted in the crowd. He was the real Donald Trump, the Donald who stops and talks with the guys digging the ditches at a construction site and the carpenters, brick layers, crane operators all before, after and even during holding higher level talks with the foremen, supervisor and engineers. This is one trait which makes the Donald who he is and why so many speak so highly of him, he actually takes the time to recognize everyone and give all a piece of the praise and credit. We will need to wait and see how this translates to the insular nature of the Presidency and life in a bubble, a very nice bubble, but a big white mansion style bubble called, remarkably, the White House. One thing for sure, being President is far more challenging than running for President and we are about to watch a capable man try and meet the biggest challenge of his life and starting out with two outs, man on second base, a three balls two strike count down five runs in the top of the third inning. It will be vital to equip himself with a top notch team as he cannot, nor would we here at Beyond the Cusp wish, run the effort almost singlehandedly. His pick for running mate showed good judgement and was wise but it will have to wait for more trust, let alone praise, to be lauded upon Donald Trump. He will have an excellent chance to prove his metal right out of the box filling the huge gaping hole left by the late Justice Antonin Scalia in the Supreme Court bench. This selection will act as an initial window to Trump’s soul, an entity which was called into suspect early on by some stalwarts of the Republican Party. Should this choice not fully measure, up these suspicions are very likely to reappear and do so very quickly.

The main Cabinet appointments will come at the State Department, Secretary of Defense, Education Secretary and United Nations Ambassador. For this last office returning John Bolton, should he decide to be available, would be a strong start. Rudy Giuliani would be a strong choice for any high profile position but might be best used to either lead the deconstruction of the Department of Education returning virtually all power down as locally as possible and keep almost nothing in Washington D.C. which could save many a school system as they would be liberated to spend all their time on teaching and none on meeting testing requirements, indoctrinations ordered from Washington and meeting near endless paperwork requiring additional staff who are not in any manner connected to teaching. They simply document compliances and send the forms to their school district, county, city, state, Washington D.C. and file copies with the office, every vice Principle, the Principle(s), Advisors, required teachers, required parents and whomever and whatever else is demanded. Some of these forms are actually daily reports and that is what many school systems have become, report generators which produce endless streams of paperwork and uneducated graduates whose school years are documented thus presumed productive. Donald Trump’s choice on who leads the Veterans Administration will be carefully watched as will any changes which are implemented. Here is another place where paperwork takes precedent over actual work. Hopefully Donald Trump will be able to bring a fair number of real administrators and managers from the real world into government positions where they can do some real good for the government and its ability to serve the people. Needless to go further than to simply say his appointments will speak very loudly and hopefully be armed with Teddy Roosevelt style big sticks. Tell the truth, not only do the people of the United States await Donald Trump’s important appointments’ names, but many around the world are also waiting to see who he is able and desires for top spots, especially his inner circle which includes but may not be limited to the Foreign Affairs Advisor, Secretary of State, Secretary of Defense, Security Advisor, Joint Chiefs of Staff amongst others. What will be another indicator is who a President Trump calls to the White House from the Republicans in the House of Representatives and the Senate as well as who, if any, he invites from the Democrat side of Congress. These choices could prove to be greatly tactical as it may establish who a President Trump feels will best work with him on his agenda.

Speak Softly and Carry a Big Stick

Speak Softly and Carry a Big Stick

In conclusion, it will be educational once we start to see the choices Donald Trump makes officially sending to the Senate for their review and vote and those he keeps close under his vest and does not seek the Senate’s approval. Will a President Trump continue the underhanded and unethical practice of having “Czars” who actually perform an identical function as the Secretary over a department who the Senate passed review such that the President had two advisors for all too many departments and the actual Secretary was often left out of the loop and the Czar would actually run the show dictating policy and decisions to the actual Secretary serving the Cabinet. This was simply the means President Obama appointed some controversial people granting them the power equal or higher than the Cabinet Secretary while avoiding Senatorial oversite as per the Constitution. Ending this practice and setting up even a Constitutional Amendment which would define people with certain powers and responsibilities regardless of their title requiring Congressional oversight and be vetted and approved by the Senate as does any other appointee with such powers. Such a move might not prevent a future President from acting in a similar manner but it will empower Congress to then act having the Constitutional leverage to do so. Remember that the first hundred days often set the tone between a President and the Congress, people, national leaders and the world in general. Trump’s initial steps in the Middle East and North Africa will reveal his true foreign policy outlook. The man will be walking into the middle of a forest surrounded by swampland with an angry beehive just over his shoulder and a bear coming for the honeycomb sure to disturb the hive. It will likely be a dark and threatening sky with a hard rain approaching and tornado sirens blaring in all directions. Welcome to happy old Washington D.C. where this is the standard start of a day with a bright outlook and do not ask how a bad day starts, just hope you never find out but as a hint, it usually follows a night where you did not sleep and will be making a speech to the nation the coming night to explain that which you are not totally sure you understand, but make that speech and speak of the solution and whatever you do, do not let them see you sweat and make sure you are dressed appropriate to the news and pray that you get to sleep more than three hours the next night. Mr. President; President Trump, welcome to the world where real people play the game of risk with real wars full of intrigue and always an unknown factor lurks just beyond the cusp out of view arising only at the worst possible time, and we have not even spoken about the media. Media has a single rule you must always remember, they are not your friend, your buddy or somebody you should ever trust because you are the biggest story they have even if they need make up two thirds, they will do so thus be ever vigilant when speaking and they are visible as that places them within hearing that one-third out of which they can manufacture a scandal, and they get paid to do just that. Good Luck and may Heaven assist and guide you throughout your Presidency.

Amos Oz Does not Speak in My Name

Amos Oz speaking at his seventy-fifth birthday celebration stated, “I cannot stand to hear that term ‘price tag’, and even more so I can’t stand to hear the term ‘hilltop youth’.” He continued to decry and denounce what he referred to as ‘hilltop youth’ exclaiming, “It’s time we look at this monster straight in the eye. ‘Price tag’ and ‘hilltop youth’ are just sweet nicknames for a monster that is time to call by its name,” he continued, adding that those who carried out these vandalism attacks were “Jewish neo-Nazi groups.” And Israel most famous leftist egalitarian hater and proven loud denouncer of all who do not tread his narrowest of paths at the extreme opposite end of the political spectrum from Zionist had this to add, “There is nothing that the neo-Nazis in Europe do and these groups do not do,” charged Oz. “Time to call them by name. Perhaps the only difference is that the neo-Nazi groups enjoy the backing of quite a few nationalist, even racist legislators, as well as rabbis who have given them a pseudo-religious basis.”

Perhaps Amos Oz lost all sense of reason and sanity and was carried away by the moment and in his exuberance of reaching the age of seventy-five, though this is far from the first outburst, but maybe it is we who should be denouncing the repeated hatreds of his fellow Jews and countrymen praising and exulting a mass murdering convicted terrorist. I am referring to his having sent one of his personally autographed books, translated into Arabic, to the imprisoned arch murderer and arch terrorist, Marwan Barghouti, with the wish that he be released soon from prison. Amos Oz has denounced and belittled Zionist, observant Orthodox Jews, and the entire settlement movement often referring to them as fascist and now adding neo-Nazi to his list of insults and derogatory references to these dedicated, religious Jews. These are his terminologies as I prefer to refer to these heroes as those living and exemplifying Torah and the commandment to settle the lands as was commanded of Moses to instruct the Israelites, of which the majority remaining Jews were from the tribe of Judah whose tribe was always cast to lead by example and conquer the lands and we are now also commanded by Hashem to settle and resume our claim to the lands. Amos Oz would have us refute the title of Israel as the homeland of the Jewish People as he does not see the Jews as tied to anything other than his leftist and reactionary hatred for Zionism and the identification of oneself as one who fears and loves Hashem and realize and exults the gift and blessings we Jews are blessed with by Hashem. I doubt Amos Oz even believes in a Creator and that Hashem exists neither does he see Torah as defining the way to a righteous world where people respect one another and try to see the best in people, even in Amos Oz.

I am not what Amos Oz would refer to as a ‘settler’ nor do I consider myself yet to be a strict Torah observant Jew though I am aware of my deficiencies and at least trying to bring myself to a point where I can believe I stand amongst my fellow Jews as we are all making our own attempts at living by the commandments, faithfully exhibiting the traditions of our people, settling the land and by land we mean that which was promised us, and not an inch more or less than those defined in Torah, and lastly living to respect others and expect one thing as a minimum requirement for all others to meet defining civil behavior, thus deserving of respect, is for them to at a minimum to obey the seven Noahic Codes (see below).

Noahic Code the 7 laws

The one thing I learned in my return to Torah is that the very first step is accepting that you are but somewhere within the mapping of all of humanity and though we are all measured to be at different places on a mapping that only Hashem knows and physicists are trying to determine the number of dimensions there are in the universe Hashem created, none of us are likely to be any closer or further from the divine entrusted to each of us by Hashem and in at least doing less additional damage as it is the part of us which returns to Hashem for the determination of what will be required to permit our individual soul back into the Heavenly Realm. Eventually we all will meet in that realm and we on this plane of existence know not which of us is closest to Hashem’s hopes for us and that makes us all equal in the eyes of Hashem and thusly we should extend the same respects to each other. That is why though I feel pain in the words; the accusations laid upon our fellow Jews by one whom Hashem has been most generous and graced with what others have found worthy and of merit beyond my understanding, but enjoy these earthly rewards because in the reality of our eternal existence those trinkets hold no value. The unfortunate truth is that on this world others place merit upon us using a different scale, one which may or may not hold value in the end but I believe that part of our cleansing process is finding forgiveness from those we maligned and realizing the equality of all in Hashem’s kingdom.

I can only speak for myself, as I am likely to be more judgmental than the actual victims of each terse accusation leveled by Amos Oz and his fellow celebrated leftist academics, writers, directors, composers and the host of other intellectuals and academics, the referring of a fellow Jews as a neo-Nazis or any other reference comparing them to such a universally reviled group is not a kind act and only serves to further alienates one from another. Such are of an unkindness linkable to the referenced individuals as it were the Nazis who defined evil and berating of fellow human beings for their beliefs and on that basis alone made them be considered as an entity undeserving of even the smallest of respectful treatments. Such labelling of an entire group as being Nazis, whether neo, paleo, defacto, extra, intra, ante, crypto, anti, arch, astro, hyper, hypo or any other prefix one might care to place before terms such as Nazi, cheapens the Holocaust and its dreaded connotations and denotations and belittles the acts and consequences of their horrors. The terminology ‘Nazi’ is such a term which must remain identified with Adolf Hitler and the criminal governance and open wound they inflicted on their own countrymen and women and all of humanity. The hilltop youth and the settlers from whence they originate have not ever murdered entire groups of people nor have they denigrated an entire race of people simply to gain power.

Where you, Amos Oz, and your fellow celebrated elites have a mutual and special uniqueness, you are among the last progressive, liberal leftists who believe that their views are the sole aspect of human development above contempt and thus so far superior to all others that this grants you the right of judgmentalism. There is one small problem with this view; no human being should be permitted such power to decide for an entire society their political viewpoint enforcing a form of prejudicial restriction upon thought so as to produce a world with thought-crime as defined by George Orwell in his later works. There is an interesting parallel between the Amos Ozes of the world, and particularly of Israel, in that in their youth and early adulthood they were all leftists and had the heart that is required of those inexperienced in the ways and consequences of their views but unlike the Amos Ozes of the world, George Orwell witnessed where taking his youthful views and applying them to their logical and unavoidable end and altered his perspective on the spectrum of political thought and thus wrote truly inspired works which will remain staples for people with discerning taste long after your self-serving and self-aggrandizing works have faded from the human consciousness, and perhaps that is the one gratifying piece of knowledge I can tolerate your special hatreds for people who think as do I.

We have learned from others’ mistakes such as the horrors brought on the human race by Communism, a proven failed form of governance which still manages to have its proponents who claim that they have the magic formula which will make such a governance produce the magical kingdom which requires that all make great sacrifices for the good of everyone but in practice those sacrifices are still demanded and they serve a select few who rule which leads to ever worsening productivity as people working for the privilege of a few will slowly grind to a halt as the people realize that their efforts do nothing to improve their lot in life. There is another name for Communism and that word is slavery. Granted they are not identical but to the worker slaving away for their Communist masters or the slave working away for the plantation masters, there be little difference.

Amos Oz, I realize that you have a feeling of privilege because you have received the loud applause of an audience of your fellow travelers and as your group has invented awards and commendations which provide for you fame and fortune often which does not reach beyond the gilded walls of your mentally restrictive thought police, but there is another side to this world which is that you never get to experience the life and aspect of those who are not exalted by fellow travelers and who all make a living out of purporting and supporting unviable systems which can sound so egalitarian when played against the greed of Capitalism and the horrors of nationalism with blanket denunciations. Your premise that nationalism means fascism is erroneous and I can give you a quick reference on how. During World War II, as in many wars, there was the side of the Axis Powers which were indeed fascist and exhibited nationalism yet even Stalin noted that the Russians who fought and died after the Nazis turned on their former Communist allies were not fighting for any governance or government; they were fighting for Mother Russia, their nation. The English were fighting to preserve and save England. Both sides exhibited nationalistic traits where things were done for King, Queen (especially Queen Elizabeth II) and country. Both sides were nationalist but for very different reasons.

The other claim many leftists make is that Capitalism is evil and oppresses the worker but such is not true. Capitalism rewards two things above all else, hard work and smart work. These function in a complimentary manner. When a worker works hard he is paid in accordance with what he produces be it through piece-work where the worker receives a percentage of the production of their work or an hourly rate where the worker receives payment for their hours of labor and their rate of pay is merited in hourly rate raises. Every so often a worker looks at their way of production and believes they have a better mouse trap or a better and more efficient way of producing the mouse trap (all references to mouse trap is imaginary as it could be automobiles, clothing or even widgets). He will be rewarded by increased production which provides greater profit and thus better conditions and payment of the workers. One example of such in practice was the implementation of the assembly line which has had an effect on many and varied industries and thus production increased, increasing sales and lowering prices, all making life easier and more rewarding. Many leftist elitists claim that such is selfish and only serves to reward greed. I will admit that I know something which you also know to be true, people are greedy and if their greed does not hurt anyone else, then they will be as greedy as possible. In a worker this means producing more so his pay rates rise. To the innovator it means more and greater ideas produce more money in their pockets. Yes, Capitalism is powered by greed and as mankind is greedy there will always be fuel for the Capitalist engines of the economy.

Socialism, be it communism which is universal socialism or fascism which is nationalist socialism, rewards only the few who stand above the law and above their fellow man. The workers are told that they will receive all that they desire regardless of their work habits or even if they work. This system turns into a problem rather rapidly, when told that reward is not tied to production there starts to be more demand than production can meet because people are too busy taking from the system without investing effort into the system. It does not take a rocket scientist to see where that road leads, to collapse and some very unpleasant end for those at the top. Socialism can work on the small scale as everybody knows and can see what everyone does and those who do not produce can be shamed into working and contributing more. Even being a small group did not work for the early pilgrims who almost starved to death under a purely socialist system where everyone shares in the production of the whole. They had a massive shortfall, but once they permitted each farmer to keep ten percent of their crop for their own use, the production led to excesses and a much happier community. This was the documented story of the Plymouth Colony which has often been challenged and never refuted successfully, though every challenge is quoted by those attempting to discredit the reality but rarely are the results of each challenge touted but instead each retelling of the challenges applies another layer of opaque lacquer slowly dissolving the fact the challenge was refuted as why would anybody argue that a refuted challenge proved their point? How about because by doing so after every telling the failed rebuttal begins to sound as if it were truth for the illogic of using it if it were false. That is how many untruths becomes accepted wisdom despite the entire fiction being well known by those educated few who allow the warping of history to serve their own ends.

The above is something for the average college and even high school student to be aware of so they can dig a little themselves and find the reality and not the reputation where in some circles a reputation is more easily gained through aggrandizement than through hard toil as long as your story is the accepted story. It is sad that many of the ‘soft-sciences’ are taught by ideologues who refuse to condone any divergence from their warped views which they will champion until the cows come home, which will never happen as nobody repaired the holes in the fencing and the cows have crossed the highway and gone to a neighboring Capitalist farm where they feed the cows and repair the fences.

When Polls Lie and Deceive What to Believe

In the last three major elections in the democrat and republican electing world the polls were as misleading as one could imagine. Not only did they get it wrong, it appeared that their polling was just as corrupted as their reporting. In this last election in the United States the polls predicted minor gains for the Republicans in Congress but with the Democrats probably retaining a slight majority in the United States Senate. The Republicans gained sufficient seats to rise to a dominating position in the Senate and further improved their position in the House of Representatives and as if that was not sufficient, the Republican Party also swept a number of State and local elections placing the party in a position of dominance unseen in decades. The liberal states of Massachusetts and Maryland elected Republican Governors despite their being the bluest of blue states.

In Israeli elections the polling and every indicator predicted that the Zionist Union, the marriage of the Labor Party with Tzipi Livni’s Hatnua Party, was going to sweep Prime Minister Netanyahu out of office. Further, it was predicted that with the aid of election specialists who had assisted in charting the course of the reelection of President Obama running a political operation called V2015 run by Obama election strategist Jeremy Bird and using the cryptic slogan of “Anyone but Bibi” was going to put in place an undefeatable election day tsunami sweeping the Zionist Union into power. Somehow Bibi Netanyahu won taking a commanding thirty seats beating the odds where the polling predicted the Zionist Union beating Netanyahu and the Likud twenty-six seats to a mere twenty-three seats. How could it have been polled so wrong such that the real results were Likud with Thirty and Zionist Union garnering twenty-four coming in a weak second. Again the polling was so wrong one could have thought they were blindsided by the actual results.

Finally there were the recent British elections where Ed Miliband and his Labour Party were supposed to sweep the Tories and David Cameron from office was also dead wrong with the conservative Tories and Cameron embarrassing the Labour Party so completely that Miliband resigned without bothering to wait for the broom to sweep him aside and replace him atop the Labour Party. This was simply the cherry atop the three layer cake with each layer sweeter than the previous as election results made lies out of the predictions by the pollsters. That begs the question as to how could they have gotten all three so completely wrong and should we believe anything we read about in polling.

There could be any number of reasons for the inaccuracy of polling from improper reading of the results leading to massaging the results in order to match the pollsters political preferences or that the media intentionally went with slanted polling data knowingly but fully believing that they had sufficient sway to bring about the results they desired simply by reporting the results they desired and willing them into existence. It is entirely possible that the methods utilized by the polling companies favored the liberal leftists over the right wing conservatives. One method of polling which had found produces such results is to utilize polling conducted by using land-line phone numbers during mainly daytime hours when the majority of the people who have jobs are working at those jobs and therefore are not home to take any polling calls, which is also why they use land-lines and not mobile, though even mobile polling would likely produce similar results just less skewed to the left. Then again, if people are anything like the folks I know then they only use their cell phones and only have a land-line because it came with the package they get their internet access or television cable and never give out that number thus never answer the land-lined knowing that the call is either a poll or telemarketer and either way undesired. But maybe the polling methodology was not to blame but the people themselves are the problem.

What if the people have been so beaten down by the seemingly endless efforts to force political correctness along with leftist propaganda down our throats using news reporting which is more electioneering or campaigning or simply editorial opinions wrapped up to appear like news coverage that the people react repeating the touch-words or positions constantly pushed upon them by a media which has completely turned to the left beyond any reason. People may have reached the point that they find it easier and less complicating for their lives to simply regurgitate the leftist mantras to avoid offending the sensibilities of anyone leftward-leaning within earshot who would immediately slowly turn in their direction and then questions by question slowly turn further until they are glaring directly at the malcontent who spoke words which are taken as offense and must be challenged until all descending conservative expression has been wiped from the public sphere. Where this may have silenced those conservatives who simply take the path of least resistance which in public discourse means not upsetting the leftist sloganeering policer of their immediate space, they cannot yet accompany everyone into the voting booth where everyone is free at last to vote their true mind and not be made to suffer the umbrage and wrath of the leftists in our midst. Perhaps that has so swept and crept its way into our lives that anytime other than within the safe confines of the voting booth we will simply become leftists for the duration while secretly voting our inner Churchill, Thatcher, Reagan, Jefferson, John Adams or Menachem Begin when the chips are to be cast, gathered and counted in order that our captains for the ship of state are selected.

Think about debates at work with associates or discussions with fellow congregants at our places of worship or wherever we toil, gather or socialize and my bet is there is at least one person in each of those settings whose stand is for Big Brother and makes sure any wrong-think is made sufficiently uncomfortable that fairly soon all but the lost causes simply speak the words our monitors desire to hear and keep our real thoughts happily dancing within our minds unmolested by the minders. There are also those few outliers who are true believers and speak their minds no matter who may add their names to a list of those to be watched, as many have made so many of such lists that one more will make little difference. These are the ones who can often give as good as they get. Only the few ever make friendship bonds with these people and if we should we often request they not reveal our true political kinship as we are amongst the quiet quiescence slumbering through life passing by semiconscious of the views expressed around us as there is nothing worth our fighting for as we still have the blessing of honest representation of our votes. Should we lose such honest accounting of the ballots then will we allow ourselves to be availed of out of our quiet accommodations and comforting silence and then hear us roar for when it comes to our votes we will not sleepwalk through such offense. There is much we can allow to pass as fact when we know it to be different, but the honest representation of our vote we draw the line and demand honest representation.

It is little wonder that those in the media can walk around claiming in all honestly that every person with whom they speak of such things all supported President Obama and thus it was an absolute impossibility that the President was reelected by so close a margin. These people are not delusional because they mean it when they claim that election results were completely skewed, opposed to the polling, and they are truly flabbergasted and personally destroyed that the Congress or Knesset or Parliament which was elected could have gone so wrong, as in their worlds their viewpoints are correct, good and the only honest result possible and the other side can only possibly win by deceit or trickery. We are all living more and more in small echo chambers where we hear little from the other side of political and social issues. Our bubbles are carefully chosen and seldom do we hear a disparaging word and our skies are not cloudy all day. Often we even go so far as to carefully choose from whence we receive our news so as to hear only those reports which inform us of how impossible it was that we lost an election or that the results were so much closer than they should have been. The most often heard reason for any loss in an election was simply that our side did not get the vote out and turnout favored the other side. There was a perfect such comment made after the recent midterm elections in the United States when President Obama actually had the nerve to claim, “To everyone who voted, I want you to know that I hear you. To the two-thirds of voters who chose not to participate in the process yesterday, I hear you too.” I likely could spend the rest of my life and never find somebody in high office who is so out of touch with reality that they would make such a statement. For your amusement, here is the comment straight from Obama’s mouth.
