Israel is All of Israel as Defined by San Remo

We have discussed this almost ad-nauseum but please allow us to once more try to take a different tack and perhaps wake a few more minds. The San Remo Conference took place during the early 1920s close after the end of World War I. Obviously it took place in San Remo, Italy right on the Mediterranean Sea in a picturesque location and as always really plush hotels. Just once I would like to see an international conference or negotiations take place somewhere such as Tiksi, Siberia, Russia which also has beaches on the Buor-Khaya Gulf of the Laptev Sea, southeast of the delta of the Lena River. The pictures are below and we invite our friends to choose their preference in comments, if you will. We can guess that when a global warming conference to discuss the thawing of the tundra permafrost lands in Siberia and Alaska are held in Marrakech, Morocco that it proves the United Nations knows how to throw a conference as their studying thawing tundra on the arctic is held on the edge of the Sahara Desert proving the United Nations is more interested in going on holidays than solving anything.

Aside from climate change and getting more serious, Israel was given guarantees from the League of Nations and the San Remo Conference where the Mandate System was put in place which was followed by the Treaty of Sèvres which codified the decisions from the San Remo Conference which had based their findings directly quoting the Balfour Declaration as the basis for the British Mandate. This eventually led to the Churchill White Papers where when Transjordan was formed the Zionist Congress was guaranteed that all lands west of the Jordan River and the Jordanian border would remain for the formation of the Jewish State of Israel presumably sacrosanct. The war was initiated by six Arab nations, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Syria, Lebanon, Egypt, and Iraq with additional forces from Muslim Brotherhood, Pakistan, Sudan, Holy War Army, Arab Liberation Army and further support as able from the Arab League against the Israelis, who were not well armed at the onset as the British did everything possible to disarm the Jewish communities. Fortunately the Israelis soon received some arms smuggled and timed to arrive immediately after the British leaving and much assistance from what was then Czechoslovakia as well as planes and other left over World War II armored vehicles and rifles from France, yes, France. Russia also kicked in some armament and the Israelis managed to secretly hide a few British Spitfire fighters which somehow went unaccounted for as the British left. Still, Israel was outnumbered close to 2:1 at the outbreak and by the time peace was established Israel, where every man, woman and boys above fifteen were placed on the front lines while the rest of the population did whatever they were able including reloading cartridges to make additional bullets, making simple machineguns, armoring cars and adding small bore cannons or high caliber heavy machineguns, making hand grenades and mines as well as anything even to cooking and taking food and water to the soldiers who were fighting, that was the Israeli side. At the end of over a year of fighting the Israelis were gaining ground as the final ceasefires were being imposed which had they been refused for another few weeks by the Israelis they might have pushed the Arab forces out of all Israeli territories which were promised by the British and there would have been no talk of occupied West Bank which is a bald faced lie.

So, where does the idea of an occupied Gaza and West Bank originate? The United Nations inherited the British Mandate and French Mandate Systems after it was formed to replace the League of Nations which had proven incapable of preventing World War II. The United Nations has claimed to have prevented any war of sufficient size to be considered as World War III, to be exact. The reality is that nuclear weapons likely did more to prevent a World War III more than the United Nations which has problems with keeping promises or showing any amount of integrity or ability to enforce human rights and all too often their peacekeepers have been more of a problem to the women and children where they are stationed than those they are there to prevent from any malfeasance. Some things are too shocking to even list as nobody would believe us so instead we linked the disgusting behavior of European peacekeepers in Central African Republic which we could only shake our heads and feel saddened by these abuses. So, with such as a rule more than the exception in items concerning the United Nations and their propensity even from the start to bend and bow to Arab and Islamic demands, we really should not have been surprised when after the British set up an Arab Palestinian residents named Transjordan which was renamed simply Jordan in 1950 where the population was enforced such that no Jews were permitted residence as Jordan was determined to be a predominantly Arab population ruled by the Hashemite King that the United Nations then insisted on making the remaining land split evenly between its Jewish and non-Jewish Arab residents. The Arabs were offered much of the prime irrigated lands while the predominant of the land the Jews were to receive was all of the Negev Desert. The Arab League refused the United Nations suggestion instead resorting to their plan to annihilate the Jewish State and every Jew they could find. All of this was the result of the General Assembly meeting and drawing a non-binding Resolution, which remain valid only if accepted by all the parties; so the Arab League refusal invalidated the resolution allowing the situation to revert to the preexisting condition which was that the Jewish State would be formed as promised by Winston Churchill and the British had guaranteed originally when Transjordan (Jordan) was founded.

So, at midnight and one second Israel was born (though the Jews day started at sundown so they had celebrated their founding the evening of May 14, 1948; Iyyar 5, 5708) with the borders of the Jordan River and Jordan to the east, the border with Egypt separating the Sinai Peninsula and the Negev Desert to the south, the Lebanon border to the north and the Golan Heights for their border with Syria and the Mediterranean Sea. All the land borders had massed armies and the Jews knew that dawn would bring an invasion which they may be unable to repulse. That started the war too many Israelis refer to as their War of Independence and we recognize their viewpoint and using this name as it was a war to remain an actual viable nation but we call that war the Arab War of Genocidal Expectations. The Israelis claim they won their War of Independence while we hold that they survived the deadly threat which placed every last Israeli in perilous danger under threat of a genocidal slaughter promised by vastly superior forces. We look at this war more pragmatically and realize that the State of Israel as settled by the separate armistices between Israel and her Arab neighbors which were the Blue Line with Lebanon which was the same or very close to the original borders, the Golan Heights with Syria which was also close to the original with the difference being the armistice line was at the bottom of the heights instead of at the apex, and along the Sinai Negev border with the exception of Egypt occupying the Gaza Strip and the border with Jordan now left half of Jerusalem and what has ever since been named the West Bank (originally the lands were Judea, Samaria, Benjamin with Jerusalem having previously been entirely Israeli and their eternal Capital City) and occupied by Jordan. This is what is important about the wars of 1948-9; the Jewish State of Israel lost land to invading offensive armies namely having half of the Golan Heights occupied by Syria, all of Judea, Samaria and Benjamin (West Bank) occupied by Jordan. Jordan went a step further and declared they annexed the West Bank and provided every Arab living there citizenship and forcibly removed every Jew stealing their property and anything they were unable to take with them as they were forced to leave with great urgency. Only Pakistan and Great Britain recognized Jordan annexing the lands they were occupying but the United Nations and the world mostly remained silent not challenging the Jordanian, Egyptian and Syrian occupations. During this occupation by the Arab states there was absolutely no talk of founding a new Arab state using the West Bank and Gaza. The world remained silent about the occupied Israeli lands and simply adjusted to the new armistice lines.

When the 1967 Six Day War struck as Gamal Abdel Nasser massed troops from Syria and Egypt on Israeli borders, while for weeks on end broadcasting propaganda that the superior Arab armies would drive the Jews into the Sea, that war was inevitable. After the fighting had started, the Egyptians and Syrian broadcast propaganda telling of their great gains and how both were closing on Tel Aviv and hearing this, King Hussein of Jordan declared his intent to join in the massacre and allow his people to enjoy the spoils. Israel did all they could to convince the Jordanian King that the broadcasts by the other Arab leaders were lies for their own peoples’ consumption. Israel was routing both armies but the Jordanian King believed Israel was bluffing and was actually losing and he needed to rush if he was to be in on the end of the Jewish State. Jordan troops poured into Western Jerusalem and started towards Tel Aviv and the Israelis redirected some troops which were heading for the Sinai to back troops against Egypt. Within a few hours of the redirected troops they reported having taken the Temple Mount where the troops stopped and prayed with some putting on Tefillin and prayer shawls (Tallit). Their joy almost prevented their continuing their mission but by the time the fighting was halted, Israel held the Golan Heights from Syrian occupation, the Sinai Peninsula and had liberated the Gaza Strip from Egyptian occupation along with liberating Judea, Samaria and Benjamin (West Bank). The peace Israel made with Egypt, Israel returned the entire Sinai Peninsula while Egypt surrendered the Gaza back to Israel returning all occupied areas to their rightful owners on the Israeli southern front. Soon after there was a peace reached with Jordan who returned Judea, Samaria and Benjamin (West Bank) to Israel, its rightful owner. One would think that would be the end of things, especially with nobody able to claim lands which correctly belong to Israel.

No, such thinking would be incorrect. Here is where we start to make some people angry on both sides. First and foremost Israel must develop and build their own fifth generation fighter and cancel their orders for the F-35 JSF from the United States. This should most definitely be a priority. Israel must necessarily produce the entirety of the Military Equipment from the smallest truck to the most advanced tanks and aircraft including requiring their component parts, ammunition and other munitions and lastly they must also make bombs. These newest of aircraft require communication with their production company in order for parameters, potential repairs, stress levels and other reading the aircraft makes on itself and various items needed to schedule maintenance properly. The problem is that the aircraft must file a flight plan with the United States who must then approve any flight. Israel has the capacity, the means and the people to manufacture a top of the line aircraft and anything else. The weapons industry is a very lucrative business and Israel needs to be self-sufficient with all items concerning the safety of the nation and its people. Further, the aid money that Israel has received from the United States is earmarked with some heavy duty ropes attached demanding that Israel spend 75% of the cash buying weapons from the United States. Israel could survive without the money which has become an addictive drug which only weakens the victim. As long as you are on the dole from the United States they get to sell you defense weapons systems and you have no control over the future which the past going on eight years has proven may not be so wonderful if Israel is relying on the United States for their defensive weapons. Once a nation enters such a deal they reach a point where all their military equipment comes from the United States and one wrong person ascending to the Presidency and that nation just may awaken one morning being gotten up even earlier than usual to be informed that the United States has deactivated all your weapons systems and the nation is completely vulnerable. Now that would be an Excedrin moment.

The other main problem with Israel being dependent on the United States for weapons and arms, especially the entire inventory of the Air Force, is that the United States has too much power and a certain threat which could devastate Israel militarily just by simply refusing to allow Israel parts to repair their aircraft. Israel is in a sensitive place and really needs a radical solution to her dilemma. Such a solution will not be accepted by the United Nations, the European Union and likely the United States and why not throw in Russia and China for good measure. The solution we are referring to is simply claiming the remainder of Samaria, Benjamin and Judea taking all the land which would return Israel to the early morning May 15, 1949, the morning in which seven Arab armies moved against Israel and stole lands. Now would be as great a time as any to reclaim all of the lands promised and remove the terrorist entity, leadership and actual terror threats and be done with it. Those who desire to remain as part of Israel and are willing to sign and pledge to make a loyalty oath which will state that any felony or terror related conviction will result in the criminal being forcibly exiled from Israel may remain and integrate into Israeli society and take a path to full citizenship. Those Arabs who choose to leave Israel will receive a cash payout for their property and a resettlement bonus. The terror masters will receive our fondest wishes as we wave good-riddance! Israel would necessarily need to control their schools and thus their curriculum if there would be any possibility of retrieving the minds of many of the younger students and even potentially making productive members of the society as many of the students have thus far been fed a steady diet of hate for Israelis and particularly Jews. As long as Israel remains dependent on the United States she will be unable to take the steps required for a safe and prosperous future for her citizens including a number of Arab Muslims.

The media, our representatives in the Federal Government, the President with the full backing of his Cabinet and the vast majority of Americans all believe that the battles for Afghanistan and Iraq have been won; and now that the troops are finishing up any untied strings and heading home for good. Nothing could be further from the truth and there is only one place to pin the blame, President Obama and Congress. They will likely claim that they are simply responding to the wishes and desires of the American people, and that holds a fair amount of validity. The problem is that Congress and the President are elected to serve the people, defend the Constitution from all threats foreign and domestic, to act as the adults in their relationship with the citizenry and to treat the people with respect by telling them the truth along with advise as to what choices are available along with a predicted result for each and after educating the citizenry the country can, as a whole, come to an educated consensus. Thus far none of these discussions have taken place and it is as much the blame of the mainstream media as it is the President, his administration and the members of Congress. The impression that has been put forth is a picture of Iraq and of Afghanistan each with a steady government that the United States have greatly aided and who is indebted to the United States and its military and will be one of the closest allies which the United States can rely upon in the future. If only that was even ten percent of the truth.

Let us begin with Iraq and open up some eyes to what is coming. The Iraqi Shiites can hardly wait for the last American to exit their country. They have already demanded and forced the United States military to sequester their personnel onto one of two main base locations, one in Baghdad in what was called the Green Zone where the government offices and the sprawling complex which is the United States Embassy and the rest isolated out at Camp Liberty in the middle of the desert miles from any town or other habitation. The American forces have to clear any operational moves or simple troop movements with their Iraqi advisors, though I am tempted to refer to these advisors as overlords as their decisions are usually final. Iraq has already aligned with Iran and is allowing Iran to supply Bashir Assad in Syria overland crossing central Iraq thus aiding Assad in his slaughtering of his own people as well as jihadists who have joined the battle against Assad in the name of al-Qaeda and/or the Muslim Brotherhood. Despite what the public back in the United States has been fed about Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, he was the most ardent of the Shiite candidates and was all but hand-picked by the true leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Even as the troops from the United States and their allies were pulling out from their station points in Iraq in preparation to return home, the Shiite leadership of the government began a cleansing of the Sunni influences within the government wherever they were able. This has caused great amounts of friction and building animosity which is what has led to the drastic increases in terror attacks mostly in central Iraq. These ambushes will only increase and there is a possibility that the Sunni Muslims in Iraq will ally with the Kurds in the north and either begin an endless struggle for dominance against the Shiite loyalists in the south or possibly declare their independence. Whichever direction they should decide to move, once all the foreign forces have left or dwindled to the point of inability to influence or prevent fighting, then a war of some degree will break out and continue with no end in sight. This could become a winner take all take no prisoners blood feud and will not be pretty.

The last item about Iraq is that the leadership of the United States has misplayed their hand so pathetically by abandoning the only real friends they had won in Iraq, the Sunni and many of the Kurds, simply in order to get out as fast as possible and damn the consequences. Thus the result was a power vacuum which left a shaky balance between the three sects within Iraq with the Kurds relatively safely entrenched in the north and the Shiite in control in the center and south with the Sunni mostly in the center and at the mercy of the Shiite except in a few towns and cities closest to the Kurdish provinces. The result was a purge of the Sunni by the Shiite with Iranian backing followed by the Shiites seeking vindictive reprisals over the years of suffering they had suffered under the Sunni rule of Saddam Hussein. This is what will lead to a vicious civil war and possible bloodbath. The Sunni in Iraq, if any should survive, will never forgive the United States, who they trusted and joined making the surge a success, for abandoning them leaving them at the mercy of their historic rivals. The result is that every sector of Iraqi society now despises the United States because each one perceives that the United States deceived them and treated them poorly. We are leaving Iraq feeling greater animosity towards the United States than when the United States arrived or any time since. Iraq has resulted in a failure.

In Afghanistan we have played the political game poorly and what makes matters worse, we got caught at the game. Afghani President Hamid Karzai was an ally of the Americans who now feels betrayed after he became aware that the government of the United States had opened up negotiations with the Taliban without consulting or informing Karzai. He immediately opened his own dialogue with them and soon the situation became exactly what one would expect, the Taliban began playing the American and Karzai off of one another. This only served to deepen the rift that was forming between the two countries. Then there were a number of accidents and the beginning of the drone war operations all of which resulted in injured and murdered Afghani civilians. The United States admitted to a few civilian casualties and held the position that the greater majority of those killed were al-Qaeda and other jihadists and terrorists. Karzai saw the picture far differently and his protests only grew angrier and louder as the bodies piled up and the United States appeared not to care and refused to change their method of engagement. This eventually came to a head and President Karzai forced a curtailment of the drone war and a rewriting of the Rules of Engagement (ROE) for United States and allied troops which served to make these troops operations extremely difficult and eventually resulted in numerous additional casualties and deaths as troops were often denied air or artillery support under the new ROE. Another change was the demand that the United States and allied troops not carry their arms when within the wire back at major camps and bases. This is what has allowed for what is known as Green on Blue attacks. Green on Blue attacks are where Afghani police or military, who are trained by the United States and their allies, shoot often killing their American or allied counterparts. These shootings usually happen within the compounds of the major bases where the American and allied troops are disarmed by regulations and are unable to defend themselves. There has been no explanation provided by the Afghan government and seemingly no investigations or steps have been taken to address these disastrous and often fatal attacks. Needless to point out that these attacks are but a symptom of the animosity felt towards the United States and allied presence in Afghanistan. Afghanistan will return to the tribal and fractional confrontations and hostilities as soon as the United States and allied troops depart. There is a distinct possibility, maybe even inevitability, that the Taliban will once again rise to power and the terror training bases reopen returning to business as usual which spawned 9/11. Needless to point out but Afghanistan will end up being a complete disaster.

Then there is the Arab Spring, or as we here at BTC have called it since very early on, the Arab Winter. As was pointed out here, the people being supported by the United States fall into three categories, the Muslim Brotherhood, al-Qaeda aligned terrorists, other terrorists who possibly are aligned with Iran. President Obama may make grand speeches about the democracy revolutions and the youth with the use of social media bringing a change to these Muslim countries such as Tunisia, Egypt, Libya, Yemen, and possibly Syria, but that is a pipe dream. Yes, there were many youth who demonstrated for hope and change and they received change without any hope. The beneficiaries of the revolutions spreading across the Arab world thus far have been the Muslim Brotherhood with a definitive victory in Egypt where they now control the Presidency, are on their way to control of both houses of the Parliament, have taken over the majority of the courts, and have replaced almost all of the higher officers in the military. The sole grand accomplishment in Egypt was to replace a military backed dictatorship where regular election frauds were held with a Muslim Brotherhood military backed dictatorship where regular election frauds will be held in the future. In Tunisia the Islamists have gained the majority of the Parliament but have been blunted to some extent and who will win out has yet to be decided. Libya has dissolved into a fractional state where different tribes now control their own parts of the country and terrorist groups roam freely and are carrying their revolution into the neighboring countries. The most closely covered has been in Mali where French forces are assisting the Mali government forces in containing the terrorists in the north of the country. Nigeria is another front which has had numerous assaults by Islamist terrorists, mostly from the Boko Haram terror group. The Boko Haram terrorist fighters have bombed and burned numerous churches in the north and into the center of the country often during services killing and maiming numerous Christians as well as torching neighborhoods and stores owned by Christians. The situation threatens to devolve into a civil war in Nigeria as the violence builds just as it has already become in Mali.

The final front is Iran and their aligned forces which include Bashir Assad in Syria, Hezballah which rules Lebanon by overt military threat, Hamas in Gaza, the IRGC and affiliated terror units which operate worldwide including a large base in the tri-state area of South America on the borders of Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina shared borders meet. Iran also has made allies with Venezuela and Nicaragua while also wooing additional South and Central American countries including Brazil, Peru, Argentina and others. Iran is also suspected of working towards attaining nuclear weapons. Iran has apparently made an agreement with North Korea under which the two countries share rocket and nuclear research and design information. Many believe the two have been working to perfect a special type of nuclear weaponry which is quite different than the normally perceived nuclear ballistic weapons which are largely destructive due to their explosive properties. The kind of weapon Iran and North Korea are researching is a low yield high Gama burst device which has an explosive component of only one to twelve kilotons but discharges an enormous Gama ray burst which causes a massive EMP pulse which can be destructive to unshielded electronic devices and networks such as power grids and communications systems which would include television, radio, phone, internet, and electronic generation systems. Such a devise, it has been suggested, could theoretically be so destructive that one warhead detonated over the Kansas City to St Louis areas would take out almost all electronic equipment and power from the East Coast to the Rocky Mountains and possibly all the way to the Sierra Nevada Mountains. The other advantage of such a weapon is it does not require any hardened heat shield as it does not need to reenter very far into the atmosphere before being detonated and thus is far lighter allowing for a more powerful device to be placed atop a launch vehicle.

The truth is that between the economic time bomb which is the European Union and the budgetary and debt problems plaguing the United States when combined with the problems spreading through the Middle East and North Africa and throwing in the axis being built between North Korea and the areas of Iranian influence there are more than sufficient potentials for serious problems and likely scenarios which result in confrontations which could easily explode with little or no notice that one might believe that governments have not been exactly truthful as they peddle the idea that all is going to be just fine. President Obama has on many an occasion claimed that the United States does not have a spending problem. If President Obama means that the United States has no problem spending, then he has been truthful; otherwise he has been misleading the American public. The claims that the Arab Spring will result in Western style liberal democracies throughout the Arab world is wishful dreaming at best and foolish lies which can only end poorly at worst. The claims that Europe and the United States are experiencing an economic recovery and the end of their financial woes is just around the corner are simply a misrepresentation of reality. The stock market is showing gains simply in proportion to the rate of increase in the money supply from the three sets of Quantitative Easing with a simple delay built in as the stock market is almost always a lagging indicator of such forms of stimulus. The actual value of the majority of stocks has not changed very much but is only representing the soon to be realized inflation which will balance the stock gains out through higher prices across the board. Behind almost every rosy picture the media and politicians are attempting to sell is a large amount of fertilizer. We live in what the Chinese might call interesting times, and to them interesting times is a form of curse. Perhaps that is the one piece of truth, we are in interesting times and China just launched their first aircraft carrier on their way to having a blue water navy comparable to that of the United States, and President Obama’s cuts to the military, the Navy in particular, is making their task all the easier.

Benghazi Should Signal a Warning for Israel

We have heard the same platitudes whenever the topic of his support, or lack thereof, for Israel is posed, that he has Israel’s back and that Israel is an important ally. Immediately after and for quite some time after the hostile and fatal attacks were reported from Benghazi, Libya the President and many of the highest officials in the Administration tried to obfuscate the truths with stories of a U-tube video caused riot which became uncontrollable and overwhelmed security forces leading to the destruction of the Consulate resulting in the deaths of our Libya Ambassador and three other personnel along with other embellishments on this story. When this fabrication disintegrated when the truth finally shone through, President Obama was asked by KUSA’s Kyle Clark, “Were they denied requests for help during the attack?” His reply was another example of avoidance but still was revealing when examined more closely. President Obama’s exact words were, “Number one, make sure that we are securing our personnel and doing whatever we need to. Number two, we’re going to investigate exactly what happened so that it doesn’t happen again. Number three, find out who did this so we can bring them to justice. And I guarantee you that everyone in the State Department, our military, the CIA, you name it, had number one priority making sure that people were safe.” Obama went further stating, “These were our folks and we’re going to find out exactly what happened. But what we’re also going to do is make sure that we are identifying those who carried out these terrible attacks.”

The terror strike, and that is what the truth revealed once the air was cleared of all the superfluous distractions and outright lies, has revealed further truths which remain unexplained and almost beyond belief for a vast number of Americans and friends of America around the world. The facts revealed a story of two unbelievable brave and honorable (former which I refrain from saying as once a Seal, forever a Seal) Navy Seals, Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods, disregarded the orders to stand down and hoofed it the mile or so to the Consulate building and retrieved the remaining personnel and escorted them to the CIA safe house and to safety likely saving these lives. After the Consulate building had been destroyed the terrorists pursued those who had been pulled from certain death by two exemplary human beings and assaulted the Safe House. These two Navy Seals, their names cannot be said or praised too much for their actions need to be honored and remembered, Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods, then spent the next several hours defending the Safe House and the people within. This battle all told lasted approximately seven hours. That bears repeating, the attack lasted seven hours while for the whole seven hours assistance was on line and simply awaiting the order a mere five hundred miles away, a mere two hours from coming to the rescue and reinforce the vastly outnumbered Seals. The same can be said for air close support in the form of a AC-130 Spectre which could have completely changed the entire state of the field of battle all by itself; such is the firepower of one of these aircraft. (If you are unfamiliar with the capabilities of this magnificent close support aircraft, it would be worth your while to do a search and watch some videos of this unprecedented game-changer.) The truth is that these American patriots were left out to the ravages of this terror attack. It has been reported that their appeals for relief and backup were denied, a denial which had to originate from very high in the Obama Administration, if not from President Obama himself. Hopefully, someday the complete truths will be revealed and reported to the American public and the world. But what does any of this have to do with Israel?

Despite the language, gratitude and praise shown to President Obama and his words of support by Prime Minister Netanyahu and others in high position within the ruling coalition, one can safely assume there are doubts as to exactly how much President Obama could be counted upon for support when the crisis is occurring and things may appear dire. These doubts have been validated by the numerous actions of disrespect shown to Prime Minister Netanyahu and other officials have received from the Obama Administration. There have been leaks of critical information concerning Israeli maneuvers and precautionary steps taken in preparation for a possible future conflict with Iran on more than one occasion, the most grievous of these was information concerning Israeli leasing the use of two idled airfields in Azerbaijan which border Iran to the north and would have provided Israeli pilots a landing place should they have any difficulties which would have made returning to Israel highly difficult if not impossible. There have also been the very public displays of conflict over whether it would be wise to set a “red line” that if crossed by Iran would trigger the initiation of the military option to bring an end to the Iranian nuclear program. Prime Minister Netanyahu desires a strict and well defined position leaving little to no doubt at what point there would be a military intervention while President Obama favors leaving such undefined and emphasizes his complete faith in the inevitability of sanctions being sufficient to prevent Iran from producing nuclear weapons. These disagreements and opposing views towards taking tangible actions regarding Iran are sufficient on their own to make any military support from President Obama questionable at best. Add into the mix the fact that President Obama was reluctant to the point of inaction when Americans were under direct assault by terrorist forces and any Israeli leader would have to believe that he would not receive any assistance from the United States should hostilities with Iran develop, even if such actions were initiated by Iran.

On another front, the so-called Israeli/Palestinian peace talks President Obama has through his words and actions severely undermined the Israeli position. President Obama invented the idea of a building freeze even unto the inclusion of all of Jerusalem. President Obama went further than any of his predecessors by stating that the negotiations over boarders between Israel and a future Palestinian state should use the 1967 Green Line as the basis for borders despite the facts that these Armistice Lines had never been construed, even by the Arab World, to have any meaning or implications about borders. That has now forever changed. All of President Obama’s demands thus far have been almost universally aimed at Israel while rarely making any demands or stipulations on Mahmoud Abbas or the Palestinian Authority. The sole limit which the President made any large measure of reprimand on the Palestinians was their attempt to be declared a member nation of the United Nations which required a super majority vote of the Security Council where the United States holds the power of veto. Still, it was not until days, maybe a week or so, before the vote was to be requested before President Obama finally declared the intent to use the United States veto power. Had he made this known from the start, then the entire posturing and parading by Mahmoud Abbas demonizing Israel at stops all over the globe could have been prevented. Much of this lackluster support of Israel closely mirrors the lack of support given the Americans under terrorist attack in Benghazi. As such, what should Israel expect in the form of actual military assistance from the United States under President Obama’s leadership? One last item to remember, we have since found out that even though President Obama made the infinitely difficult decision to have Osama bin Laden assassinated, it took him as much as six months of brooding over the entirety of risks and possible ramifications before allowing the assault on the bin Laden compound to go forward. Israel under attack from Iran or any combination of her neighbors would likely, from past experiences, not have anywhere near six months, more like six days which may be beyond President Obama’s ability to carefully weigh the situation thoroughly and reach a conclusion and even then the conclusion being favorable for Israel is not guaranteed.
