The Times They Are a-Changin

The times, they are changing and in opposing directions and the two most dynamic forces behind these changes are both dealing with Islam but are from opposite directions, one pushing and the other pulling and the fate of the world depends on which one comes out on top and wins the coming argument. The pushing force is the one pressing Islam into new regions trying to press the borders of Islam throughout the world using the old forms of Islam which powered it coming out of the Arabian Peninsula, the spread of Islam through Jihad using the sword. The other force is trying to pull on Islam and bring it back to its initial writings where coexistence and freedom of religion and other freedoms recognized initially by Judaism in Torah and the driving concept of the Christian Bible though for over a millennium this was misrepresented by rulers in order to drive their ambitions. Christianity was eventually pulled back to its roots by the Protestant Reformation which demanded that Christianity meet its initial preachings of love, charity, harmony, and acceptance of the stranger, the precepts before the Roman Empire first set Christianity on the path of conquest which continued through the Inquisitions and finally died in the pulling back to the roots by the reformation leading to the Renaissance on to the Industrial Revolution which steeled the West as the great powers leading again to conquest and the colonialism which came to an end between the great wars, World War I and World War II. The Western World now sits at a crossroads and is vulnerable and vulnerable of falling before an invasion initially through infiltration by Islam “refugees” followed by a possible actual invasion within the century. The outcome will be determined by which force prevails in Islam and the order will be the most crucial determining factor and that perhaps will also determine the future for the United States as well.

We have covered the push of Islam into central Africa, Europe and Asia as well as their potential infiltration onto the North American continent, especially the United States. So let us inspect the pulling half of this equation, understanding that this is probably the more important and the one which the Western world can assist more readily, that they appear ready to control the infiltration which has spread an increase in terrorism directly in proportion to numbers of Islamic immigrant arrivals. One of the interesting meetings recently which much of the mainstream media outside of Israel all but refused to cover was President Trump and his visit in the Middle East. There was likely very good reason behind the lack of coverage, he acted and presented his case with Presidential demeanor. He did things which no President before him even attempted, let alone succeeded in all his attempts. President Trump met with the leadership of fifty Arab nations, yes, fifty Arab nations in Saudi Arabia and did not grovel or act condescending and instead took a presentation exuding his position of power demanding they toe a line he was laying down. When speaking of the Arab-Israeli conflict he made no mention or allusion to a Palestinian state or two countries or other reference which they have come to expect from the Presidents of the United States. He laid down expectations for them to change their actions regarding addressing and suppressing terrorism. He insisted they change the education process and resources such that terror and rewards for violent behavior and the superiority of Islam spreading it throughout the world by Jihad, though he did avoid the word Jihad to the best of our knowledge.

Then while in Israel, President Trump became the first President to visit the Western Wall and then to add to his visit, he prayed while at the wall. His Israel visit was friendly and warm though he still did not announce he was moving the embassy to Jerusalem, but he did not say he was not going to do so at some point which Nikki Haley said he still intends to accomplish this before leaving the White House. This was a refreshing change in tone from the relations with one certain United States President. Then President Trump went to visit with Palestinian Authority leader Mahmoud Abbas in Bethlehem. This was reported on in some of the international mainstream media and even some in the United States simply because despite what were unprecedented actions, meetings and changes in relations, this was by far the most impressive. Many referred to it as President Trump scolding Mahmoud Abbas for lying to him in Washington D.C. and demanded that all payments to terrorists and/or their families end, otherwise all United States aid will stop, and that their education systems be revamped to actually teach as he had claimed, for peace with Israel and that all incitement be stopped, period. President Trump seemed even more furious when he informed Abbas that he knew and was fully furious and avidly incensed and fully irritated by the situation where Abbas himself was proved to purposely incite terrorism while also extoling and glorifying terrorists and that this too must end. This was a full dressing down unlike any previously seen in recent time even to include Hillary Clinton’s tirade berating Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu as Secretary of State which presumably had lasted almost three-quarters of an hour. Reports claim that in the entire conversation with Abbas, President Trump never mentioned a Palestinian state or anything about independence for the Arabs under his rule currently. This was also entirely different and unprecedented. There is definitely a new sheriff in charge of the United States and he is not constrained by the old paradigms.

Since President Trump visited Saudi Arabia, there has already been a change which makes the new rules evident. Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, the UAE and Egypt decided to cut ties with Qatar and boot it out of an Arab coalition fighting in Yemen in order to pressure the nation to expel Hamas terrorist Saleh al-Arouri who was instrumental in the kidnap and murder of three Israeli teens. It is also reported that the terrorist Musa Dudin was also expelled by Qatar and that there may be additional Hamas individuals soon requested to leave the nation. This coming soon after President Trump made his crucial visit to Saudi Arabia and demanded that the Arab world take responsibility for ending terrorism of every kind, which has emanated from the Middle East and in particular from allies of some of the fifty heads of state who attended the meetings with President Trump, is an astounding turn of events by so rapidly responding to a visit from any United States President and may be quite an accomplishment, but do not expect the American media to notice.

There is another hero in the Middle East making a difference in Egypt. That would be Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi. He has taken to the podium before the Imams who teach and run Al-Azhar University in Cairo, the leading Sunni institution of higher education in the world, and both times demanded that they bring their institution from its darker teachings which belong to years long passed and begin to bring Islam, Sunni Islam, into the twenty-first century. The first effort appeared to have likely gained more laughs and jokes in private as laughing to his face, even for these high-ranking Imams of Sunni Islam, really would have been over the top and undignified, and their dignity may have had them differ to the better parts of valor. After President el-Sisi made a second visit and did not shy from his demands, perhaps they began to realize that he was not a man with whom they could trifle. Al-Azhar University has now done what before would have been unthinkable, they have hired an instructor to their medical school faculty who is a non-Muslim. Have we used the word unprecedented already? Well, it applies here as well as this is all but beyond belief and is as if a three-hundred pound jockey rode a horse to victory at the Kentucky Derby.

President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi in Egypt has another surprise in store for the world showing a new direction for Egyptian leaders. When there were recent terrorist strikes against Egyptian Coptic Christians, an event which previously had seen police and even military personnel joining such attacks previously, this time resulted in Egyptian pilots bombing the terror bases in Libya. This was not a one off event but a response which has occurred multiple times. Imagine this, Egyptian pilots, from the nation where the Muslim Brotherhood was birthed in the 1920’s, have flown retaliatory strikes for terror attacks upon Christians. This truly is a new page in Egyptian culture and leadership and further proof that the ruling culture in Egypt has changed. Now we can hope that a few more things in Egypt can also see change. One of the first would be the illiteracy rate which can be addressed through increased availability of public schooling and requiring even the religious schools to teach reading, writing and basic arithmetic instead of solely concentrating on memorization of the Quran. Next will be something which will require change across the almost the entirety of the Arab and Muslim world, the end of anti-Semitism which has been a rampant disease which need be rooted out on every society around the world. Proof that anti-Semitism is a worldwide problem can be realized here.

Replacing the Two State Paradigm

The death of the whole concept of a two states living side-by-side in peace, security and viability is finally fading as the realism that the Arab Palestinians can never be placated. Their demand that they get all or the war continues until the Jews run away or are annihilated has finally begun to wear even the two state supporters into a state of exhaustion from attempting to twist and ignore the Palestinian Authority’s (PA) leadership’s constant demands for more. The chanting by their supporters of the line they were fed calling out, “From the River to the Sea, Palestine must be free,” leaving no Israel simply made support more and more problematic. Sure, the young, the foolish and of course the anti-Semites thought that chant was a great idea as it either never occurred to them or they invited the mass slaughter of another six-million plus Jews at the altar of the inexorable march of Islam across the face of the earth. The fact is that the eventual chant would become, “From One Sea to Another Shore, We Want the World and a Little More,” and would be their referring to the United States and Canada on their way to conquering South America last. The old adage that, “What Starts with the Jews, Never Ends with the Jews,” implying that once any power decides to exert energies seeking a final solution to the “Jewish Problem,” these efforts soon widen to include far more than just the Jews, nor will it end with the Roma or the Evangelical Christians or any other opposing people until all have been cleansed. For proof of this just visit the original home of Islam, Saudi Arabia, and check out the laws concerning any religion or philosophy other than that proscribed by Islam, particularly Sunni Islam and then the Medina Quran over the Mecca Quran (Explained here) which strictly protect Islam as the only religion by which a nation can be ruled, period. There you might be introduced to the concept of the Islamic Waqf which defines any lands ever conquered by Islamic forces must forever remain under Islamic rule or face continuous efforts by force of arms or political pressures to be surrendered once more to Islam and held as such for all time.

Surrender is a term used to define Islam as their prayers are a sign that they have surrendered their will, their spirit, their body and mind to Allah and have no will independent from the traditions and interpretations of the Quran. This renders the Imams as the deciders of Islamic life and which verses of the Quran are to be applied. Sometime early in Islam, some say by Mohammad on his death bed but most scholars relent on that claim and tend to agree that this particular Surah 2:106: which is called the Abrogation Surah which makes the Medina verses of the Quran superior and replacing those Meccan verses that contradict or alter (see Arabic and translation below).

Surah Al-Baqarah [2:106]

Quran Surah Al-Baqarah [2-106]

None of Our revelations do We abrogate or cause to be forgotten, but We substitute something better or similar: Knowest thou not that Allah Hath power over all things?

The disbelievers, pagans, Christians and especially Jews must be forced to surrender to the Islamic forces and to Allah after their defeat or put to the sword, which is a simple euphemism for murdered or put to death. Believers need to have already surrendered to Allah and thus to Islam which in the end becomes surrender and obey their Imam. This is one reason that Western nations need monitor what the lessons, sermons, preaching, beliefs and interpretations of the Quran are as it is in the final end the Imams who define Islam. This was the reason the Egyptian President Sisi stood before the Imams of Al-Azhar University (pictured below).

The final nail in the coffin, which lowered and all threw dirt as their sign that there could be no compromise, was a few weeks, maybe a month ago, when the Fatah, PLO and even PA all, without a single word of correction from Mahmoud Abbas, the ruling potentate over all things out of Ramallah declared all of their claimed Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea as an Islamic Waqf which meant literally that even a Jew taking sand from the beach in Nehariya, Israel, or anywhere else in Israel, onto a plane and leaving would technically require their being hunted down so those few grains of sand could complete their Islamic Waqf. Abbas has permitted and thus accepted what they had claimed amongst themselves and finally it has been translated by one of the major sources of such translations, Palestinian Media Watch, who recorded and translated a Ramadan Broadcast of PA State Television Broadcast. The presenter, Najeh Bakirat, is listed as the director of this PA TV program and also appears on the show as one of the presenters and was once amongst the officers in Fatah and was assigned his current posting as a director of PA-TV. As defined above, PMW also stated that a Waqf is an inalienable religious endowment in Islamic law which may not be permitted to be transgressed, especially by an infidel and even more offensively, by Jews who are seen as descendants of apes and pigs.

PA TV Ramadan lesson teaches that Islam prohibits Israel’s right to exist: “Holy Palestine is a waqf… It is forbidden to relinquish a single grain of its soil”
Head of the Waqf’s Al-Aqsa Academy of Heritage and Antiquities Najeh Bakirat: “Every grain of soil in Palestine (i.e., including all of Israel) is ours. The status of Hebron is part of the status of Palestine, as it is an integral part of the Palestinian land, like the status of Nazareth in our eyes, and Acre, Haifa, and Jaffa (i.e., all are cities in Israel). Every grain of soil in Palestine is part of the blessed Palestine, the holy Palestine which is a waqf. Therefore it is forbidden to relinquish a single grain of its soil.”

This marks the absolute end to any chance for a compromise as this announcement has ended all room for there to be but one state and all that is left to determine is whether the state will be another Islamic State or remain the Jewish State, as was the original plan when the British Mandate was adopted and the Zionist Congress agreed to the partition with lands east of the Jordan belonging to the Arab State of Transjordan (later renamed simply Jordan) and the lands west of the Jordan River for the Jewish State. This was the original plans as set forth under the League of Nations and enforceable under Article 80 in the United Nations Charter and as such inviolable even by the Security Council and definitively by the General assembly. This makes all recognition of any Arab or “Palestinian” state an inconceivable notion. Every attempted recognition of such a state when challenged in the International Court of Justice (ICJ) would unquestionably and close to immediately be refuted and rescinded as there is but one state approved by world recognition and that would be Israel as the State for the Jews.

So, what is a viable, logical, actionable and workable solution, the bi-national state incorporated over time with an incentive plan for Arabs, particularly those prescribing to Islamic supremacy, to leave to reside outside of the Jewish State, outside their loathed Zionist Entity. The first reality would be the changing of the current school systems run by UNRWA or the PA to Israeli run schools under the same administration as are the schools within Israel. Further, the controlling administration of the schools would come under review and if the current system of teachers and administrators once reviewed are found to be incapable of teaching the provided syllabus provided every school, those found to be inadequate would necessarily be replaced. The administrating would be exactly the same as currently exists within Israel. Religious academies, which would include Madrassas, would all be held to including a core set of programs and this would end the argument that religious schools need not teach secular programs or other required and necessary lessons which all public schools are required to teach for graduation. The universities and colleges would also be regulated and their curriculum monitored to assure that they were not teaching courses which included subversive or anti-Semitic, anti-Israeli, Anti-Zionist, Anti-Christian, Anti-Muslim or any other negative education villainizing or disparaging any religion, race, ethnicity, physically challenged, mentally challenged, sexual orientation, gender or age group. This does not require one to ignore, omit, alter or otherwise curtail the teaching of a religion’s holy books in any manner or to change the wordings or definitions even when such appears to go against the previous restrictions though it would be prudent to teach to hate the act, the sin and to love the person; and that it is one’s responsibility not to change but to enlighten them of the words in scripture without belittling or threatening them in any way. These areas must be handled with tact and often if one is unsure they should take an approach of caution. It is important for a multicultural and multi-ethnic society with peoples from varied origins and numerous religions, even if Judaism remains the dominant religion of influence on the laws and mood of the majority of the society and the religion given greater though not undue influence on the society.

It would also be necessary to enact a law which would deport all members of a family who included any members involved in terrorism. This would include those planning, financing, producing weapons, explosives, rockets, munitions or storing same and anyone caught performing an attack of a terrorist nature despite their religion. This would include Jews, Muslims, Christians or any other or no religion as when it comes to the law there can be no exceptions. Even government employees and even Minister of the Knesset would not be exempt if they partook in terrorist activities. The current residents of the PA and all PA citizens would initially be granted resident alien status and would be required to apply and go through an approved set of courses and prove proficiency in knowledge deemed required of any citizen which should be equivalent to the knowledge of government and Israeli and Jewish history to give them a fundamental understanding of the Jews attachment to these lands and their difficulties both in Christian, Islamic and other societies.

Finally, there would be an incentive program to buy at over market price any properties, business assets not taken with those availing themselves of the buy-out and an added incentive plus arranged transportation to any nation to which any resident of the PA or even Israelis regardless of religion, race, ethnicity or other considerations. The added incentive will be proportional to expected costs of resettlement and weighed within reason and would have a set price which would be considered higher than the mean or average of resettlement costs. Needless to mention is this would make moving to a nation where prices are more reasonable would make the bonus go much further than say moving to Germany or the United States, especially the state of Hawaii. This program would last a defined amount of time, perhaps a decade and after that you make out the best you are able. There would necessarily be other requirements and restrictions likely prove required as deficiencies become apparent but this would be a start, hopefully a good start.

Weeds in the MENA Garden Conclusions

Here is a link. We covered the political upheavals, terror threats, alignments, backing of destabilizing forces and general conditions for all the countries from Western Sahara and Morocco to Iraq and Iran. This article will try to look at the reasons and future mostly dealing with the Middle East after a brief summary on North Africa. For reference here is a map of the area we will cover which adds Turkey to our considerations as they had a few mentions previously.

(MENA) Middle East and North Africa Including Turkey and Iran With North Central Africa

(MENA)

The first step to understanding the area is to determine which nations are playing the controlling interests and what the status of the remaining nations have especially their ties to the controlling players (We can think of this as a game of RISK where only the MENA nations get to play). The players who are vying for the position of leader of the Arab and Muslim world do include one non-nation player which we should cover initially including naming some of their aliases. That force is the Muslim Brotherhood which never actually uses their real name when interacting. In Egypt their political influence is through the Freedom and Justice Party (Arabic: حزب الحرية والعدالة‎). Egypt’s former President Mohamed Morsi was a Freedom and Justice Party member and they still hold a plurality though not an outright majority of the Egyptian Parliament. Currently the Freedom and Justice Party holds 47.2 per cent of all seats in the country’s lower house of Parliament, while allied Islamist parties al Nour Party holds 24.7 and al Wasat Party holds 2.0 per cent, respectively. This gives the Islamists in the lower house of parliament a total of just under 74 percent, a solid majority and a limit on President Sisi’s ability to govern and accomplish all he would prefer to implement. In Turkey the closest alignment with the Muslim Brotherhood, though unofficial, is the ruling Justice and Development Party headed by Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The relationship has its moments and President Erdoğan did support United States President Obama’s demand that President Morsi be released and returned to the Presidency of Egypt as its duly elected leader after the military coup. This demand continued even after the new elections were held and died a slow and thankfully quiet death and the rise of Sisi from commander of the military to the newly elected President of Egypt (more on this further when we talk about Egypt’s role in the MENA Garden). In Syria, before everything hit the fan and a civil war with more sides than can be easily defined, the Muslim Brotherhood was most closely aligned with the Islamic Socialist Front (more in depth discussion of Syrian Civil War will follow). There is even a branch of the Muslim Brotherhood closely aligned with the situation in Israel which is Hamas. In Iraq the Islamic Party is the largest Sunni political party and would have to be considered the closest link with the Muslim Brotherhood though they are not in a position of any real power as we will see. In Iran the relations with the Muslim Brotherhood are another case of strange bedfellows but in Saudi Arabia, which would pretty much include the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nations though they can be less trident that are the Saudis who support the Wahabbist strain of Islam, the Muslim Brotherhood is considered as a terrorist group. Through the rest of North Africa the Muslim Brotherhood supports Sunni groups but has little interaction since al-Qaeda aligned Boko Haram swore allegiance with the Islamic State. Some have seen the rise of Islamic State as a challenge to the Muslim Brotherhood within the Islamist communities. The main influences which we will cover in greater detail are the Islamic State, Turkey, Iran, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and the Syrian War and Russian concerns in Syria.

The oldest force in the area would be Egypt if one were to count the Pharos but that civilization was a completely separate civilization, but we need an excuse to start somewhere. Egypt has the advantage of population as the most populous of the MENA nations. Egypt is also the home of the most respected school for Islamic thought, Al-Azhar University, located with Al-Azhar Mosque in Islamic Cairo and is the oldest degree-granting university. As far as Sunni Islamic thought and interpretation, Al-Azhar is the most prestigious university. It is the central thought center for all Sunni thought and interpretation. Al-Azhar sets the dogma and interpretations used in Quranic thought in all of Sunni Islam which includes near eighty percent of all who follow the prophet Mohammad. This is important as it was during a speech President Sisi gave at Al-Azhar University to a gathering of the entire faculty where he made a request, which has some weight as Sisi is the President of Egypt, the former General of the Armies and very popular with the population which elected him in what could be referred to as a landslide. He has made some moves as best as his position has allowed and without smashing too many toes and defeated every challenge from the Muslim Brotherhood, no small feat. The demand, or request if one is to be polite, was for the Al-Azhar University faculty and Imams throughout all Islam to work within the Quran and adjust the supremacist view of Islam and instead alter the chosen Sura from the Quran and use more of the Sura from the original Mecca writings and allow for them to supercede their contrary Medina version of the Quran. (For an introduction to the two separate versions of the Quran and many quality links throughout the comments may we suggest our article and the comments of Which Quran, Mecca or Medina? The difference between the two writings are so stark that there have been rumors that they were dictated by different people rather than the idea that Mohammad had a different set of circumstances when writing the two versions.) President Sisi did this not just once but in two separate speeches to the Imams of Al-Azhar University. Reforming Islam such that it is made such that it can coexist with other faiths and separates from politics completely and become simply a religion of approaching two billion adherents. President Sisi is also using his position to advance the idea of a unified Islam such that the Sunni and Shiite as well as the lesser sects coexist in a similar manner as the many different Christian groups exist in the world today without open warfare or denouncing of one another.

President al-Sisi initially Took his Jihad to al-Azhar University, Cairo, Egypt, Where on December 28, 2014 al-Sisi Delivered his Speech Insisting that Islam Was in Need of a Climactic Reformation if not a Transformation Redefining Jihad from External Violence To the Ongoing Internal Purification In the Eternal Search for Perfection

The next most influential Sunni nation would have to be Saudi Arabia with its oil wealth. In many ways Saudi Arabia and Egypt work together to defend Sunni Islam with their main threat currently being Iran. The third nation in the Sunni hierarchy is Turkey which is at odds with Egypt as Turkey largely supports the Muslim Brotherhood and called for the return of Morsi to the Presidency after Sisi and the military had removed him presumably at the behest of the people. Turkish President Erdoğan joined President Obama and the two were close for a period as they both stood in support of the Muslim Brotherhood. General Sisi rejected their demands and called for resumption of elected governance and arranged for general election to fill the now vacant office of President and for a new Parliament. Sisi had resigned his post leading the military before running which would have resulted in his being unemployed. The Egyptian Freedom and Justice Party, which is the Muslim Brotherhood representative in Egyptian politics, was included in the elections but Sisi had won the admiration of the Egyptian people and has delivered on his promise to be a reformer. This was proven with his speeches calling for rejection of the supremacy and spread of Islam by the sword rejecting the Muslim Brotherhood calling such calls for world conquest dangerous and injurious to Islam and predicted that such actions would only bring destruction down on the Islamic world. This position is not shared by the Wahabbists in Saudi Arabia or by Erdoğan and definitely rejected by the Muslim Brotherhood. The Muslim Brotherhood was founded by a core group who believed that Islam needed to return to its golden age by imposing the strictest possible and most extreme interpretations of the Quran and Islam which they claimed was during the supremacist periods of conquest and that only by returning to the spread of Islam by any means necessary would Islam return to greatness. President Sisi sees only destruction of Islam if such a policy were to be implemented in today’s world. As for which position is correct we would vote let’s not test both and see which proves superior as the destruction and potential end of human civilization should a full blown all-out war between the Muslim world and the rest of the world be fought neither side would win and only utter destruction would be the end result. Such a war would eventually result in the use of the most extreme weapons at human disposal which would bring on a catastrophic conflagration destroying both sides. As the WOPR computer stated at the end of the movie “War Games” after testing every scenario of thermonuclear war, “A strange game. The only winning move is not to play. How about a nice game of chess?”

What remains is Iran which can best be examined by explaining the war in Syria which includes the war in Iraq and the war in Yemen, all of which have an Iranian component as does the governance in Lebanon and the terror war against Israel. This will be quite a long explanation and will be best covered in our next article tomorrow, stay tuned.
