Abbas is Coming to the Security Council

Mahmoud Abbas has been scheduled to address the United Nations Security Council on February 20, 2018, and his plea is easily predicted. Before tackling our predictive abilities, allow that we look at the recent past and what has led up to this coming confrontation, one we revel in anticipation. The chain of events begins on December 6, 2017, with the speech by United States President Donald Trump. President Trump delivered his Jerusalem recognition as the Capital of the State of Israel speech from the White House’s Diplomatic Reception Room where Trump said, “It is also the right thing to do. It’s something that has to be done.” President Trump was referencing the fact that on November 8, 1995, the United States Congress overwhelmingly, with rare total bipartisan agreement, passed the JERUSALEM EMBASSY ACT OF 1995 declaring that the United States recognizes Jerusalem as the Capital of Israel and in response to this will move the American Embassy to Jerusalem. This legislation passed in the Senate by a vote of 93-yea with 5-nay and 1 not-voting and in the House of Representatives 374-yea with 37-nay with 5 voting present and 17 not-voting. That results in a total Congressional vote of four-hundred-sixty-seven voting in favor and sixty-five voting against or abstaining in some form which we counted as opposition.

The law was signed by President Clinton knowing that there existed what we like to call the ‘Weasel Clause’ which permitted the President to sign a waver covering the next six months stating that there exist security and diplomatic reasons to put off the enactment of the law. President Clinton had no sooner signed the law that he then signed the first six-month waiver and Presidents have been signing six-month waivers every six months ever since with the gleeful backing by the State Department, an anti-Israel department which has never missed an opportunity to deter everything Israel. This has been a consistent stance by the State Department since they advised against American recognition of the nascent State of Israel. Quoting from “President Truman’s Decision to Recognize Israel” published by Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs wrote in the first paragraph, “President Truman regarded his Secretary of State, General of the Army George C. Marshall, as “the greatest living American.” Yet the two men were on a collision course over Mideast policy. Marshall firmly opposed American recognition of the new Jewish state.” Despite Marshall’s recommendations, President Truman was the first national leader to recognize the new State of Israel on May 15, 1948. Since the passing of the Jerusalem Embassy Act of 1995, we figure there have been forty-six waivers signed collectively by Presidents Clinton, Bush, Obama and even Trump. President Trump has set in motion the initial steps such that he should be the last President signing these waivers allowing the law to finally be realized. But finally, a President has kept the promise that Presidents William Jefferson Clinton, George W. Bush, Barrack Hussein Obama and President Trump had all promised to honor the will of the American people and the Congress and move the embassy to Jerusalem recognizing the capital of Israel. It is unsurprising that President Trump, a unique President as he has no actual history as a politicians but rather a businessman, finally was good to his word and took the initial steps in moving the embassy and recognized the Israeli capital as Jerusalem. Perhaps this stems from the fact that in business one is rewarded for keeping their word and face difficulties whenever they renege on their word.

Since President Trump very publically recognized Jerusalem as the Israeli capital, there has been a variety of reactions with an unfortunate number of negative pushbacks. The European Union, United Nations, Arab League, Organization of Islamic Cooperation, numerous European and Arab leaders and numerous other leaders and NGO’s all decrying the move by President Trump. Perhaps the most negative reaction came from Mahmoud Abbas who erupted in a fiery speech to the PLO Central Council where he cursed President Trump and his entire family exclaiming, “May your house be destroyed.” This is an old Arabic curse which means that you and all of your extended family be thrown into the street and live homeless begging for scraps and dependent on the generosity of others. There are few nastier ways of condemning a person and Abbas wished the worst of the world to befall President Trump and all around him. Mahmoud Abbas was said to have burned his bridges with his declaring the United States no longer an acceptable mediator for peace in the Arab-Israeli conflict.

His condemnations of President Trump and the United States is an integral part of his plans for going to the Security Council where he has plans to use his speech and cooperation of the current Security Council President, Kuwait, to propose a motion to have Palestine recognized as a real and complete nation using the Green Line, the 1949 Armistice Lines, as the borders with Israel. Such a motion is likely to cause some problems for the United States. The current members of the United Nations Security Council are the five permanent members with veto power who are China, France, Russian Federation, United Kingdom, and the United States, plus the ten non-permanent members made up by Bolivia, Côte d’Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea, Ethiopia, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Netherlands, Peru, Poland and Sweden. These nations likely to pass such a motion are China, France, Russian Federation, United Kingdom, Bolivia, Côte d’Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea, Ethiopia, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Netherlands, Peru, Poland and Sweden, a near unanimous vote of fourteen of the fifteen nations. Even should as many as five nations bend to pressures from the United States or even seven, that still would allow such a motion to pass unless the United States vetoes the motion. Mahmoud Abbas is hoping that he can get the full fourteen or at least more than nine thus being able to further isolate the United States and claim the American veto proves they are the pawns of Israel and thus anything done by President Trump will be claimed to be meaningless regurgitation of what Israel dictated for him.

Mahmoud Abbas is going to denounce President Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem, that is obvious. But that will simply be the introduction and repeated theme, as he will denounce everything Israel and United States. Abbas is going to claim that President Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu are working together to advance and accelerate the building of settlements beyond the Green Line in order to steal Arab sacred lands which are in a trust for the Palestinian people. Abbas will twist the meaning of United Nations Security Council Resolution 242 where he will attempt to quote it as saying, “Withdrawal of Israeli armed forces from all territories occupied in the recent conflict,” When the actual document reads, “Withdrawal of Israeli armed forces from territories occupied in the recent conflict (see map below).” There was great deliberation about the exact word, “all,” and whether Israel, who was fighting a defensive war, would be demanded to return all of the lands gained during the Six Day War. What is most interesting is according to International Law, any lands gained from a defensive war by a nation may be retained as repayment for having been aggressed and for the reason of establishing ‘more defensible borders’ in order to prevent future temptation of attacks. Only when Israel gained territories did the world first call these rules into question which many here find very interesting and telling indeed. Abbas will be adding the word which was fought over and about which the Security council entered very deep and arduous discussions over whether Israel was to be forced back to the 1949 Armistice lines, the borders which Abba Eban referred to as the ‘Auschwitz Borders’ or would be permitted to retain lands. Much of the discussion pertained directly to the area called the Shomron, what Jordan renamed the West Bank so as to remove the Jewish names of Shomron, or Judea and Samaria, the lands which Abbas desires to steal just as Jordan had in the 1948-9 war when six Arab armies attempted to destroy Israel at her birth. Lord Caradon, the British ambassador who submitted to the Security Council what was to become the accepted version of Resolution 242, publicly declared afterward on repeated occasions that there was no intent to demand an Israeli withdrawal to the 1967 lines. It was his insistence and refusal to have wording which could ever be interpreted as a demand for Israel to return all lands, only that Israel be required to return lands, any amount of the lands but never all of the lands. Israel was to be permitted to establish for herself defensible borders by which many at that time understood such to mean an eastern border of the Jordan River.

Six Day War Beginning and Resulting Positions from June 5, 1967 to June 10, 1967

Six Day War Beginning and Resulting Positions from June 5, 1967 to June 10, 1967

Once Israel made her peace with Egypt and returned the entirety of the Sinai Peninsula, she had met the requirements under UNSC Res 242 and could have simply retained the remainder of the lands. By this time, Israel had only officially annexed the Golan Heights and the remainder of Jerusalem and some bordering neighborhoods unifying the city. After annexing the remainder of Jerusalem, Israel extended limited citizenship where they were permitted full rights within Israel with one simple restriction, they were not yet permitted to vote in national elections, only in local, Jerusalem elections. The remainder of the lands can only be taken from Israel under the condition that Israel officially relinquishes all claims to the land. This is why Gaza is now Hamastan and a terror enclave, Israel relinquished claims to Gaza turning it over to the Palestinian Authority (PA) under a grand plan of President George W. Bush and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice by which the PA would be granted the opportunity to prove their ability to self-govern. Obviously, the grand experiment failed as the PA lost Gaza in a coup to Hamas and Islamic Jihad with criminal families and other terror groups.

Now Mahmoud Abbas will demand, that is demand and not ask, that the Security Council recognize and present him with all the remainder of land including the half of Jerusalem held by Jordan previously and intentionally countering President Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem. Mahmoud Abbas does not expect to actually succeed, he just wants to force the United States to use their veto and appear to be the Israeli savior, or the Israeli puppet. Everyone knows what game Mahmoud Abbas is playing, but that does not matter, as those who wish to destroy Israel will use the American veto as proof that the rest of the world, the ones desiring the destruction of Israel, be those to decide the outcome of Israel’s future. This may even be an idea given Abbas by the European Union when he met with them the other week. They were not exactly the most gracious of hosts and sent him home without granting him the slightest assistance, at least not visibly. It is very possible that the European Union hierarchy told Abbas to take his game to a higher level, to take his game to the highest level, the world stage of the Security Council. The European Union likely informed him that he was wasting his time trying to force Israel to surrender and should simply take his plight to the one place where they could actually make him the President of Palestine with a nation with the grandest of boundaries. Granted, the Green Line to Abbas is still accepting a consolation prize as he foresees his nation replacing all of Israel. Still, to have the Security Council recognize a Palestinian state, even if all they do is order negotiations with Israel with a deadline for reaching an agreement or the Security Council will force an agreement, this would be a tremendous victory as now Abbas would just have to say no to every offer until the deadline and then plead his case again to his friends on the Security Council.

There is one thing which will be interesting is what each of the Ambassadors have to say during any deliberations. We know pretty much what most of them will be claiming, that Israel has stonewalled the negotiations and time has come to end the entire fiasco. The entire Security Council escapade Mahmoud Abbas is about to choreograph will closely resemble the Durban Conference of 2001 which devolved into an anti-Semitic orgy of dumping on Israel specifically and the Jewish People in general. Still, there will be one scathing retort to be delivered to the assembled should our fears be realized, and whatever United States Ambassador Nikki Haley will say to the assembled Security Council will be epic, we just pray it will also be stated publically.

Abbas, Trump and Middle East Peace

Well, here we go again. Once again down the primrose path to oblivion. All you needed to do was listen to Palestinian Protagonist Abbas’s message at the Trump and Abbas Press Conference to hear the lies, distortions and false temptations followed immediately behind with ensconced demands blended in behind misdirection and pure blather. Trump spoke like any and every American President since William Jefferson Clinton with the requests couched as if they were demands for Abbas and the Palestinian Authority (PA) to cease with their incitement and to end their payments to terrorists commensurate on the numbers of Israelis they murdered, maimed, disfigured, hobbled for life or merely injured and to make the Palestinian people ready for peace. Abbas promised all that and so much more providing the Arabs get what they demand as the only solution for peace, no Israel and every Jew dead. The key words were snuck in here and there throughout Abbas’s meandering and he spoke in Arabic thus making the denial that he never said what the translator interpreted as they misrepresented his meaning. Most of us have watched this dog and pony show numerous times with each President since 1993 and the ill-fated signing of the Oslo Accords. The best part is to simply take Mahmoud Abbas’s actual words and interpret their actual meaning as he defines them, not necessarily as others will read hopes of their own into them.

The most pernicious statement was amongst his initial barrage where Abbas called for, “a comprehensive and just peace based on the two-state solution, such matter would give a great impetus to the Arab peace initiative and the other initiatives, international initiatives,” which calls into account any number of questionable scenarios. The most glaring item is his reference to the “Arab peace initiative” which is a piece of work in itself based loosely on the original Saudi Peace Plan. Both of these plans call for resettlement of any Palestinian Arab desiring such inside of Israel which would likely result in anywhere from five to over eight million Palestinian Arabs moving into Israel where Israel would also be required to provide them with housing commensurate with their family dwellings as they recollect them to have been, likely they all came from very wealthy families who held estate like holdings. Further, they would still also receive compensation for their years as refugees as if this was Israel’s fault and not their Arab brethren who refused to allow them to leave the camps. And the final sword into the heart of this plan is the instant citizenship these Arabs are presumably entitled to such that at the next election the Jews would play the sheep living with a pack of wolves all voting on what’s for diner. This has been treated by many in Europe as a great plan, but then Europe has yet to ever have proven they have had Israeli interests in mind. President Obama also showed a preference for this plan. Do I even need to comment? The Arab world loves this plan, as it does not even require an Arab invasion to conquer Israel.

Abbas was not finished, as he also believes, “I also believe that we will be able to resolve the issue of the refugees and the issue of the prisoners.” The issue of the refugees is obvious as we covered that as part of the Saudi or Arab peace plan above. The prisoners have another wonderful solution if you listen to Abbas. Israel simply empties their prison system of Arab criminals and drops all charges granting them complete amnesty. Israel is to ignore those who are in prison on multiple murder charges as well as terrorism charges because they only did that because they did not have their own state. This would include those from before the Six Day War when the entire idea of Yasser Arafat and the PLO was the destruction of Israel and to murder Jews. These were hardened terrorists as were those from the Second Intifada such as Marwan Barghouti, a five-time murderer and terror planner responsible for far more. He is serving five life sentences plus a few decades on another terror related charge. But Israel is supposed to free him with absolutely no fears that he won’t return to his terrorist activities because Abbas promises. Perhaps this might be a good time to mention that Abbas has yet to keep a single promise he has given to the Israelis, Americans or anytime he claimed he would end incitement and prevent terrorism by disarming terrorists. He actually allows terrorists to be his officers for the PA Security Forces.

Abbas Accepting Map Depicting Palestine Replacing all of Israel and Looking Extremely Pleased

Another winner is the Abbas statement for a settlement for, “a Palestinian state with its capital of East Jerusalem that lives in peace and stability with the state of Israel based on the borders of 1967.” Abbas knows full-well that Israel has annexed Eastern Jerusalem making the city whole and that the only thing Israel may find agreeable would be having a PA parliament building in the eastern suburbs of Jerusalem but not to returning to the 1967 lines where Jerusalem was cut in two and the entirety of the Temple Mount and surrounding areas were beyond the reach for Israelis and parts of West Jerusalem had to be abandoned as sniper fire made walking in these areas impossibly dangerous. Further, Israel cannot accept the pre-Six Day War borders as to return to those would invite another all out Arab assault as soon as they could straighten out Syria as they would require the Syrian territory to assault the Golan Heights. They would want Hezballah freed from the Syrian War to also launch tens of thousands of missiles and rockets into Israel in the opening hours; Iran would require Syria as a launching ground for their tens upon tens of thousands of missiles they would launch from such close proximity in addition to likely close to one hundred thousand missiles launched from Iran herself; plus they would require overthrowing President Sisi in order to have Egypt add a southern front and one of the best trained and largest Arab armies to the fight. Their final hope would be to include Turkey in such a manner that Turkey could claim that Israel had attacked them shooting down innocent Turkish planes flying innocently over the Mediterranean Sea. The fact they were flying in excess of Mach-1 heading southeast from Cyprus and Israel intercepted them within five miles of the Israel border would be completely inconsequential, they were out on practice maneuvers and the fact that they were carrying full bomb loads was part of the exercise. This way Turkey could then demand NATO support in her life or death engagement with those Israelis dragging Europe and hopefully the United States into the war against Israel. Did we mention they also would need to wait for a different American President, say maybe Elizabeth Warren (aka Pocahontas)? Should Israel be forced to return to the 1967 lines (borders) then Israel would need one of the greatest miracles of all history right up there with the splitting of the Red Sea (we do not believe the reconstructionist history which claims the Jews waded through the marsh called the Sea of Reeds) and numerous others which are recorded in the Torah and throughout the Bible.

Abbas included the idea, “that will also lead the Arab and the Islamic countries to have normal relations with Israel based, as stipulated in the previous Arab summits,” which interestingly all include reconfirmations of the Arab League’s initial precepts made during the Khartoum Conference where the Three No’s were formulated; No peace with Israel, No recognition of Israel, No negotiations with Israel. With this out of the way, they then continue to discuss what things they should release so the world will believe that they want peace with Israel and not Israel in pieces. The Arab League has ever since 1922 decided that the only solution they can permit is no Jewish State is to exist on Arab lands. Abbas has regularly referred to every inch of land between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea as a Muslim WAQF, a holy ordained and unyielding Islamic holding that can never be permitted to be under any other control other than Islamic. This means Israel could exist only if it bent before Islam and permitted the Muslims to rule over it as completely their lands and the Jews having no claims, rights or permission to reside except as Dhimmi until such time as they would be demanded to convert or die. Even when offered half the lands by the United Nations on November 29, 1947. The Arab League chose to refuse the offer from the General Assembly and instead declared war upon Israel the morning in which she became a nation, May 15, 1948 on the Gregorian calendar. Their position is and always has been and will continue to be consistent and everything else is a ruse.

Abbas told one whopper of a lie when he stated, “Mr. President, it’s about time for Israel to end its occupation of our people and of our land after 50 years. We are the only remaining people in the world that still live under occupation.” Really, the only people to still live under occupation. I bet the people of Tibet would love to know that China has returned their lands to them and the people of Cyprus to know that the Turkish forces have returned to Turkey. Then there is that little problem of Moroccan forces still holding large swaths of Western Sahara and the difficulties between the Sudan and South Sudan. These are just a few of others who are under real and oppressive occupation and do not have anywhere near the semi-autonomous rule enjoyed by the PA not to mention Hamastan in Gaza with is veritably a nation with very bad relations with both its neighbors, Israel and Egypt. Then there are the Kurds and the Yazidis whose homelands have been erased by the ravages of history who would love to have their homelands restored and those in the Crimea, Western Ukraine or Georgia who are under Russian control and would probably love their freedom to be returned despite what the world is told by Russia and friends. We could continue but it would be like beating a dead horse, nothing is going to move any further, point taken.

The real question, though, is not what whoppers and lies did Abbas pass off as diplo-speak. The question is how much did President Trump swallow and how often did he instead simply swallow hard instead of calling Abbas out as a liar and a cheat right then and there? Amongst our friends, we are hoping that President Trump does not get caught up in the art of the deal and forget to look where the deal leads. We are hoping that President Trump will enter this entire Middle East barn fire with his eyes wide open and his ears pricked up listening for even the shifting of the sands because the art of the deal in the United States is very different from the art of the deal in the Middle East. It was here where the idea of let the buyer beware originated and we might recommend that President Trump take some time out and read T. E. Lawrence’s diaries as well as Winston Churchill’s unabridged “The River War.” These two English officers, statesmen and astute viewers of the human condition were amongst the most adept at describing the difference between the Muhammadan and Arab cultures and those of Western civilization and put it in succinct and plain easily understood prose. Neither minced words or wasted time on niceties. Both would provide President Trump with information, which nobody could claim, was coming from some Republican, right wing, crazy as both of these men were historians and philosophers in their own ways and both had many an opportunity to observe about that which they wrote. The President should go into any discussion with Mahmoud Abbas forewarned and thus forearmed. If President Trump is willing to push things to the point where Abbas would have to decide whether to continue and actually make peace or flee much as Arafat had done in Paris when facing an actual peace deal which he proposed and Israel accepted, then Trump would understand that Abbas is playing games trying to get another American President to grant him money for nothing and more land for free. Thus far, he has gotten the money for nothing; let us pray he does not also get his lies rewarded with more land for free.

Secretary of State Kerry Declares War on Israel

Perhaps the best beginning for this report would be to simply quote Secretary of State Kerry in his own words. He declared in an interview with Israeli Channel 2 Television where he warned of “chaos” and a “third intifada” should the “peace talks” with the Palestinian Authority fail. He went into more detail claiming and asking, “Failure of the talks will increase Israel’s isolation in the world. The alternative to getting back to the talks is a potential of chaos. I mean, does Israel want a third intifada?” He continued threatening Israel stating, “I believe that if we do not resolve the issues between Palestinians and Israelis; if we do not find a way to find peace, there will be an increasing isolation of Israel. There will be an increasing campaign of delegitimization of Israel that’s taking place on an international basis. That if we do not resolve the question of the settlements and who lives where and how and what rights they have; if we don’t end the presence of Israeli soldiers perpetually within the West Bank, then there will be an increasing feeling that if we cannot get peace with a leadership that is committed to nonviolence, you may wind up with leadership that is committed to violence.” These threatening words came despite Secretary Kerry claiming that he has made “significant progress” in the last 24 hours. Kerry finished the day by telling reporters in Amman, Jordan after meeting with Jordanian Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh, “We made significant progress in our discussions about a couple of areas of concern in the panorama of the concerns we have.” Secretary Kerry’s final words were, “It is important for us to be able to proceed carefully and quietly.”

The change in his tone at the end of the day makes one wonder why he decided to use such threatening tones and language when speaking to Israelis on his interview on Israeli television yet spoke soothing words in Jordan where his comments would most certainly reach the Palestinian people. Could it be that the White House has decided that Israel is at fault for any lack of progress and that the Palestinians have done everything in their power to make peace possible? Does President Obama really believe the accusations coming from the Palestinian leadership that Israel with their settlements has made making peace impossible and that the Palestinians are the true seekers of peace while Israel which has made countless concession over the years while receiving only violence, death, terrorist bombings, rocket attacks, rock attacks on their highways and paid a price in blood beyond measure in the search for peace are standing in the way of reaching a peaceful settlement? Israel returned the entirety of the Sinai Peninsula for peace, offered the entirety of Samaria and Judea to Jordan for peace but Jordan released their claims to these lands remitting them to Israel only to change that pledge years later at the urgings of Yasser Arafat and the Arab League pledging the historic heartland of the original Hebrews lands which made up the kingdoms of Israel and Judea long before the ideas of Christianity or Islam had broken forth onto the arena of Earthly religions. Israel has sacrificed blood and land for peace and would move everything and anything necessary within reason for a true and lasting peace. The Palestinians, on the other hand, demand that whatever peace they agree to with Israel will be temporary as they insist that they retain the right to continue their resistance until the entirety of their lands are liberated and Israel has been erased and supplanted by Palestine and the Jews have been removed be it by being exiled from their homelands yet another time or simply slaughtered in a frenzy of jubilation at the eradication of Israel as anything other than purely Muslim Arab lands. Those are the truths the world ignores time and time again.

Some have asked why such obvious truths are ignored but the answer is not all that difficult to discern. That truth is that the world is aware that Israel is willing and has and will continue to make sacrifices in the name of peace no matter how absurd or hurtful those sacrifices may be while the Palestinians when pushed to make any concession for peace claim that as a bereaved people they must never be imposed upon and should such insane request be pursued any further they threaten violence which they will commit whether they are pressured or left to their own devices. The world realizes that the Israelis act as a civilized nation while the Palestinians destroy even those things gifted them in order to allow for their economic betterment. Such was the case with the greenhouses in Gaza which were immediately torn apart when Israel donated them in order to provide a ready and operating business to aid the Palestinians and instead made into rocket launchers and rockets with which to fire into Israel in attempts to murder civilians or whomever was unfortunate enough to be where these explosive projectiles struck ground. The world is aware that the Palestinians have utilized ambulances to move terrorists into positions to launch ambushes and also to move equipment and armaments with which to attack Israelis but nobody cares to pursue justice. On the other side, whenever the Palestinians cry that the Israelis have destroyed their olive trees or invaded the sanctity of their al-Aqsa Mosque, which entails any Jew being permitted to enter onto the Temple Mount, the world rushes to denounce Israel and do whatever the Palestinians demand as retribution to assuage their hurt feelings. That sometimes appears to be the only foreign policy that many European parliamentarians and politicians are able to pursue such and lately appears to have further infected the White House.

President Obama has often claimed to be the best friend that Israel has ever had in the White House. If the words spoken today by Secretary of State Kerry are indicative of the feelings and policies coming from President Obama and the White House, then please stop being Israel’s best friend and simply try to be an honest broker seeking a true and honest peace. I realize that seeking anything honestly may be a new experience for President Obama as he appears to have some difficulty with the truth. President Obama is especially talented at knowing nothing, much like Sgt. Shultz from Hogan’s Heroes. What many may not know about the gentleman who played the part of Sgt. Shultz, John Banner, is he spent part of World War II in Auschwitz as he was Jewish and somehow managed to survive, a miracle in and of itself.  But back to the serious subject at hand, what exactly is it that President Obama honestly wishes Israel to do concerning the Palestinians. We all heard his early first term demands that Israel return back behind the Green Line, that Israel freeze all building beyond the Green Line even including Eastern Jerusalem, for Israel to release terrorists in order to make an offer towards peace that the Palestinians would understand, and then there were the multiple insults against Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu which included but were not limited to making Netanyahu enter and leave the White House by a side entrance instead of using the customary front entrance as virtually every visitor, refusing to hold a joint press appearance as is customary for heads of state after meeting with the President in the White House or anywhere else, deserting him to have dinner with his family and not only not inviting Netanyahu to join them but instructing him to consult with his aides and let the President know when they had decided to meet the demands President Obama had laid out which are unknown but were likely the same as those being demanded by Palestinian Authority Chairman Abbas, refusing to meet with Netanyahu in New York when both were there for the opening ceremonies for the United Nations General Assembly though President Obama did have enough time to spend close to an hour with the hosts of the television show “The View” which was being filmed in New York at the same time and finally President Obama when visited by Israeli President Peres, probably the one person in Israel who might actually agree with the views of President Obama, he met him in the Blair House across the street from the White House instead of in the White House as is customary. Other than these and numerous other statements and actions by President Obama and many within his administration, President Obama might have actually slipped a few kind remarks in about Israel in order to appease some audience. There was the famous line during the campaign where Senator Obama speaking to the AIPAC convention claimed that Jerusalem would remain the undivided capital of Israel; a statement that he backed away from and then completely contradicted numerous times going forward starting within hours of making the statement. One can basically figure that if President Obama or most of those in his administration speak kindly and in favor of Israel they are either making a grievous mistake or are on some mind altering drugs, but one can be assured they do not actually mean those statements.
