Once Again the Discussion is How to Satiate Mahmoud Abbas

Israeli President Reuven Rivlin, a presumably apolitical position of honoraria, told reporters on Wednesday after his meeting with United States President Barack Obama that during discussions the American leader expressed strong, almost obsessive concern over the future of Palestinian Authority (PA) and its leader, chairman Mahmoud Abbas, the man President Obama apparently bases all efforts to attain peace upon and his being sated. Fears that this may be impossible, considering the light of the disconnect with Israel, was the President’s main concern. Remarkably the discussion with an Israeli leader through whom President Obama could deliver a message to Israeli Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu centered on fears for the Chairman of the PA, Mahmoud Abbas, and made his being satisfied and aided in preventing any damage which may threaten the continued ability for the PA to hold its power and control over the lands it has under semi-autonomous rule apparently, in President Obama’s world, is a problem Israel is responsible for preserving. The problem is that Chairman Abbas has recently and by all possible measures, been giving himself and the other officials plus his security personnel and at different but overlapping times made comments or orders of actions which have served to inflame the situation even further escalating the ongoing intifada which bothers the United States President, not.

The use of the hashtag {#so_what}, as we mentioned in yesterday’s article Stabbing Their Way to a State we also provided the Palestinian Media Watch {PMW} video half way down the article where a very young little girl who at every cue yells the hashtag, social media and publically chanted in the streets of ‘so-what’ as a response implying the necessity to continue the stabbing and vehicular assaults in attempts to make that seminal mass slaughter on the level of Paris if only the right conditions present themselves; otherwise they will continue to carry out solo attacks always with the hope that other Arabs who call themselves Palestinians in the area will join the attack making a chain reaction which leads to the general mayhem and more murders.

Where is the man of peace? The Pope’s Angel of Peace? The Europeans’ greatest hope to tame the Jew; to tame Israel, to correct the mistake from 1920, the promise from San Remo Conference which formalized the Balfour Declaration into International Law adopted by the United Nations under Article 80 of its Charter. End the place where a Jew can and will defend themselves with guns and aircraft and ships and tanks and live under their own government. Bring back the ‘Good Jew,’ the ‘Passive Jew,’ the ‘Defenseless Jew.’ The anti-Semitism has started to surface disguised previously as anti-Israel, meaning the government and not the Jews, just the rule of the only Jewish nation predominantly by Jews, that is the problem; or anti-Zionist, against the Jew standing proud of their state and actually willing to defend themselves and use the same weapons previously reserved for their betters, their oppressors who could assist the Jew in his being compliant, being behaved, tamed. This is what leads so many to make the differentiation between terror by Arabs against Jews and the terror, if targeted, to what are considered regular people, real terrorism as compared to the Arab Palestinians desperation which forces them to resort to violence. And who causes their desperation? Israel does, the Jews do and that is why the Jews deserve the terror aimed at Israel while any other terror is mad destruction beyond any reason against purely innocent individuals.

And what has been the most visual vision of the Prince of Peace, the Hero of Europe Mahmoud Abbas, he has declared every attack as blessed, every injured or killed Arab attacker as a Martyr, the blood spilled he claims is holy blood for the al-Aqsa Mosque. His perfidy is plain for all to see in this Middle East Media Research Institute {MEMRI} translates his words for all wishing to view the reality, the truth of their man of peace, this Mahmoud Abbas, or under his nom de guerre, Abu Mazen.

And more lies from the man of piece, this piece of land, that piece of land, every piece of land, just not peace over the lands so people can live normal lives, but then again, he does not know normal; he knows only lies and propaganda such as you murdered our innocent child. This innocent child committed an act of terror and suffered severe injuries but survived and was treated at an Israeli hospital as can be viewed below.

Mahmoud Abbas has made some of the most outrageous statements recently included but not limited to declaring that Israel had Jews who were ready to overwhelm the Muslims and enter the al-Aqsa Mosque and were preparing to conduct those Jewish Satanic services and making the al-Aqsa Mosque impure and desecrated. This broadcast came after his severe warnings about the so-called trampling the al-Aqsa Mosque by the Jews with their filthy feet which as can be seen in the following viewed in the video below.

Additional effrontery comes from the mouths of the elite of western democracies, the nations who claim to be multi-cultural, multi-ethnic and the most openly accepting of all peoples. This definition is apparently only applied to those minorities in the population much as women (53% of the population and the leading gender sensitivity victims) who have their priorities such as they are, yet all sorts of people, even ones you would less suspect, will be the leaders in denouncing one peoples solely because they hold the oldest of all libels, anti-Semitism.

Some of such prima facie evidence of blatant anti-Semitisms by simply calling out Jews or judging Israel by a separate set of criteria came fast and furious after the Friday the 13th attacks of last November leading off with United States Secretary of State John Kerry who commented about the horrific murders saying, “There’s something different about what happened from Charlie Hebdo, and I think everybody would feel that. There was a sort of particularized focus and perhaps even a legitimacy in terms of – not a legitimacy, but a rationale that you could attach yourself to somehow and say, okay, they’re really angry because of this and that. This Friday was absolutely indiscriminate. It wasn’t to aggrieve one particular sense of wrong. It was to terrorize people.”

But the American Secretary of State John Kerry was far from alone in his finding a separate set of rules for the Charlie Hebdo and Hyper Cacher terror murders from the Friday 13th terror murders from last month. Gérard Araud, the French Ambassador to the United States made a somewhat similar differentiation when he stated, “These are the foundations of our model of society that the terrorists seek to destroy: Yesterday journalists and Jews; now ordinary citizens whose only crime was to enjoy life on a Friday night in Paris.”

Another politician whose language presumably is more measured, we have another Foreign Minister, Margot Wallstrom, a Swedish Social Democrat who linked the Paris massacre to the Palestinian conflict by remarking, “To counteract the radicalization, we must go back to the situation such as the one in the Middle East of which not the least the Palestinians see that there is no future: We must either accept a desperate situation or resort to violence.”

Back in 1980 when a bomb exploded next to the Paris liberal Synagogue in the Rue Copernic, amongst those killed were three passers-by. Raymond Barre, Prime Minister at the time, suggested that the murderers hit the wrong targets when he said that it was “a scandalous attack which wanted to hit Jews who were in the synagogue and hit innocent Frenchmen who were crossing Copernic Street.” He added that these people were killed despite lack of any connection to “this issue” upon which author Claude Lanzmann called Barre an anti-Semite.

Reaching back we find a similar strain of anti-Semitism when in 2011 after a lone terrorist, Anders Breivik, killed seventy-seven people in Norway. The then Norwegian Ambassador to Israel, Svein Sevje, implied that Palestinian terror against Israelis is more justified than terror against Norwegians.

Allow us to have this closing video which is a combination of some pertinent and necessary commentary from across the board from Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu to Denis Prager to Rania Fadel, a Stand With Us Volunteer to Danny Ayalon all discussing truths often left from the argument as these truths describe the realities on the Israeli side of the war zone. The world tends to discount the traumas and loss of security living within easy rocket range from Gaza and the Hamas, Islamic Jihad and sundry other Arab terror groups presumably now with Islamic State funded forces added to the ample funding from Iran, but the suffering and threat to their lives is just as real as are the actions of Hamas et al to the Palestinians as Hamas gains when there is death, destruction and carnage on either side, in Israel dead and homeless Jews and in Gaza dead and homeless Palestinians to parade before the obliging World Media who get out exactly the story Hamas demands from them to be permitted to report from Gaza. Unlike Israel where the media report openly and can question to the point of hounding any IDF general or Knesset Minister until they break and give a curt, sharp and short response as nerves and patience run out and then they have their news story while they report from Gaza what Hamas allows and nothing else or they face being thrown from a building of Arab stringers to banning their news reports from Gaza, thus everybody plays by Hamas’s rules and allows their editing so as to continue reporting. Our final video is below.

In summation we can easily witness that the Arab-Israeli, or Palestinian-Israeli, conflict is an intractable and impossible conflict to resolve. Where Israel has offered complete and viable solutions to the conflict; the Arab leadership, whether it is the Arab League or Yasser Arafat or Mahmoud Abbas, there can be no solution because all of these entities agree upon one truth, they favor a one state solution, an Arab state free of any Jews. Mahmoud Abbas repeatedly demands that any and all Palestinian lands will be Judenrein, emptied of any Jews. Abbas has also never hidden the fact that even were he to ever accept a two state solution, such an agreement cannot include the end to all conflict as he has sworn to continue the fight until all of Palestine has been freed from the River to the Sea; he could not make it any more clear. He will only settle for replacing Israel, not residing side by side in peace and security.

In the mean time we can look around the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) and observe the complete disaster which has replaced the old leaders often for anarchy, chaos, death and suffering. Syria and Iraq have dissolved into a Sunni against Shiite war with the added Baathists behind Bashir al-Assad fighting to regain his rule. In the north of both Syria and Iraq we find the Kurds who are deserving of that homeland promised them by the British at the end of World War I. This was before oil was discovered around Mosul making for a reassessment of promises and an estimate of who could permit the best possible deal on that oil and as they already had a generous agreement with the Iraqi leaders of the age. Looking further westward we find Tunisia holding to their fingernail grip on free and open governance, which gives them an advantage over Libya which has completely devolved into tribal factions each with their own territories. Back in the Middle East we have Turkey which has been steadily devolved from the secular and dynamic governance where the keepers of the democracy were the military into a strongman Islamic governance with cronyism as its political power all vested in a man rather than in the law. Turkey has devolved from a land ruled by laws to one ruled by a ruthless dictator who is removing any and all opposition. This dictator’s name is Recep Tayyip Erdogan whose rule was in danger of being challenged and his government dissolved by the military back in the early 2000 to 2005 range but President George W. Bush and the European Union demanded that the military which was tasked by the Turkish Constitution with guarding the democracy from extremists from performing their task as it was claimed that no modern Western nations had such rules and if Turkey was ever expecting to be permitted entry into the European union they should refrain from such tawdry affairs. The Turkish military took their message to heart and Erdogan the dictator soon followed ending the chance that Turkey would remain a modern and secular nation. Now it is just a matter of time before Erdogan cements his rule at the expense of Turkey’s future, especially as he has replaced these General who had attempted to replace Erdogan and his government. These Generals have been forced to retire or otherwise been drummed from power leaving all the power now completely resting with Erdogan. He has neutered all of the upper officer’s corps replacing them with his own chosen lackeys protecting Erdogan from being removed from power or challenged in any manner much to the dismay of many a secular Turk. Though there are very few who may still fight the good fight, I doubt their chances for success. Such is the spreading mood outside Turkey where there had been hope for freedoms but is lost wherever the Muslim Brotherhood is capable of advancing their form of Sharia. The die has been cast and it is just a matter of time before we realize what was cast; now it is but a matter of time before we see the results we shall reap the ills spread across MENA.

International Hypocrisy

Paris, France was the scene of a horrific terrorist assaults which targeted people at various locations and disparate functions murdering at least one-hundred-thirty people and wounded over three-hundred more some of which still in questionable serious condition. Almost immediately world leaders met in the French Capital for a climate change convention. Many national leaders, President Obama amongst them, when queried as to what is the greatest challenge facing the world was answered that it was climate change which may cause coastal area flooding as well as stronger, more severe and increased number of such storms. President Obama was amongst those who refused to mention the horrific assault on Parisians by Islamic State terror operatives. Such a response simply boggles one’s mind that the attacks did not even warrant a mention as if the planet was on the brink of disaster from Global Climate Change.

Here is what we do know. First is that climate does indeed change naturally as we had snowball earth as well as a number of ice ages and a year without a summer after the eruption of a volcano in Indonesia. We know that the resultant changes in the climate are based on models and these models are considered accurate in their prediction of the weather at the end of the century despite models made by the same brilliant minds cannot tell me if it will be raining next Sunday or will it be conducive for a large family picnic. We know that government monies are only available for researchers’ efforts who believe that global climate change is a real and immediate problem. Further, if one can also place the blame for these changes on mankind and prove it is Anthropomorphic Climate Change without using those models which have been proven to start with the desired result and then working their way back to where we are now to grow their formula, then some might take their arguments seriously instead of relegating them to the junk science producing the predictable result demanded by the government paying for that desired result. Despite this effort to push Anthropomorphic Climate Change there are a fair number of scientists who claim that they cannot predict with complete certainty the actual effects of climate change but can most assuredly claim and prove that it is not caused by mankind and that the amount of so-called human influence is negligible and that the entirety of climate change scare is just that, a scare tactic to have the people give over to government control over much of our lives. They see Anthropomorphic Climate Change as simply a route to new laws and restriction on personal freedom of our lives such as how far from our work we are permitted to reside, carbon taxes, carbon credits which are given the less advanced nations to use when getting more wealthy nations to provide them with monies for these credits which can then in turn give the poorer nations to develop clean energy systems. In all honesty, Anthropomorphic Climate Change is a redistribution scheme dressed up in a pretty package developed by climate change proponents and those naysayers are just against poorer nations and want them to only produce carbon based fuels. When this is their argument the redistribution of wealth becomes absolutely evidenced leaving no room for other arguments.

Paris Terror Stadium Attack CNN Breaking Live Coverage

Paris Terror Stadium Attack CNN Breaking Live Coverage

Meanwhile there was a shocking assault upon the people of Paris, France by the Islamic State (previously known as IS, ISIL, ISIS) and we are informed that there will be further such operations as the opportunities present themselves. Further, Israel is once again experiencing a wave of knife attacks, vehicular homicides, shootings and fire-bombings. There were at least two attacks in the past twenty-four hours, and this probably holds true for whenever you are reading this article as it was when it was written. There has been another curious series of events concerning the coverage these assaults have received. There are a number of separate results of these assaults, the person assaulted dies, multiple people are attacked with differing injuries from light and treated at scene to those pronounced dead at the scene and all various categories admitted to hospitals. Then there are three other broader categories. Attacker succeeds in their attack and escapes. The attacker is caught likely with non-life threatening injuries. Interestingly enough these two varieties of attacks meet with almost no coverage in media coverage outside Israel. Then there is the final type which is where the attack is carried out and the terrorist is killed or severely injured and fears are the terrorist might not survive. There was this news story titled “Two Palestinians killed during new stabbing attacks”. Then there was the original CNN headline, “Palestinians shot boarding kids’ bus” since changed to “Armed Palestinians shot after trying to board bus with children on board.” Such misleading coverage is not accidental but rather slanted against Israel and is not limited to CNN or the New York Times.

We were given a glimpse of the world for those select few who are members of the White House Press Club when Helen Thomas was interviewed by a Rabbi, she was told he wanted to record the top stories about the Presidential media to get a feel for the moods and views for his writings when asked about the Middle East when she responded curtly that the Jews should, “get the hell out of Palestine and return and go home to Germany, Poland or the United States.” Many claimed this was the ugliest side of Helen Thomas they had ever seen. Those comments cost her the position she had on the White House Press Corps, awards both that she had been expected to receive or had been named after her all had to be reassessed, renamed, or find a new presenter. Now it is starting to appear that major newspaper editorial boards and network news programs have started to support the blame Israel as the problem and if only there were no Jewish State then there would be no senseless violence and peace would cover the area like a blanket of warm fuzzes. Anybody honestly believing that the troubles in Syria and surrounding nations in the MENA area exist due to Israel, they need to have a reality check and if they still do not see a problem of blaming everything on Israel they should be granted government paid for mental assistance. Any glimpse into the Middle East which includes North Africa (thus MENA) finds unlimited and open warfare in Syria, Libya, Iraq, Yemen, Nigeria, Kenya, Turkey with the Kurds, and others with terrorism a threat everywhere.

Blaming Israel for the major breakouts, which are plainly other national struggles often the result of the Shiite/Sunni divide which pits Iran and Syria against the majority of the rest the Muslim nations, is plainly as ludicrous as it is bald-faced lies. The disingenuous accusations targeting Israel largely pushed by Secretary of State Kerry when claiming that the Hebdo and Hyper Cachet kosher market were understandable and these latest murders are not is a frightening revelation. With such lost credibility Secretary Kerry should be removed from the efforts to pound a solution out of Israel while allowing the Palestinians claim any evil they wish on Israel and allow them to remain as the final word is sheer hypocrisy. Secretary Kerry was not the sole person to differentiate between the broad strike and January’s more targeted strike. Interviews of Parisians in the aftermath of the November 13, 2015, terror attacks noted the stark difference that this time those killed by Islamist terrorists weren’t just Jews or provocative cartoonists. Quite a number of those interviewed when asked about the Charlie Hebdo or Hyper Casher attack compared to the Friday November 13, 2015 attacks were insistent that after the Charlie Hebdo or Hyper Casher they did not feel a sense of threat or danger to themselves. Many expressed it as, ‘Those were simply attacks on cartoonists who went too far and insulted Mohammad and the Hyper Cacher is a kosher market so it could be expected for those people to be struck by terrorists, but there was no reason before the 13th of November to feel that terrorism would strike any closer to home as we were not crazed cartoonists nor were we Jews.’ Hypocrisy such as this should signal to the Jews of Paris if not France and France if not Western Europe and Eastern Europe if not all of Europe or perhaps the world over this may be the clarion call telling you that there is nowhere on this earth where people will not blame you for any terror strike on your neighborhoods and excuse such attacks as they did not involve normal people, only Jews. The average people the world over are once again drawing a line between what happens to them and those same things happening to the Jews. They write off those assaults and other degradations and dangers which happen to Jews are acceptable because the Jews somehow deserve all that befalls them while attacks upon them are completely unjustifiable. The old adage of society good, Jew evil, society innocent and thus clean of sin, Jews somehow guilty and full of sins which is why they deserve scorn and death and as long as you attack Jews there will be deserved.

A four picture montage of John Scary Kerry at his long-faced best. Hopefully once he is done failing and flailing at being Secretary of State we will be done with John Kerry. His ineptitude and at times traitorous actions have shamed the United States ever since his treacherous testimony before the Senate accusing his supposed, though never in Kerry’s mind or heart, fellow soldiers equating them with the ruthlessness of Genghis Khan and his opinions have little changed with the years.

Your safety will not be protected by these societies and when they face the choice between sacrificing you and your family against their hides and their families, guess which is easily fed to the monsters. We have played this game before with these kinds of Europeans before and it did not turn out all that well. Over time we have covered the idea that Israel is the Jewish People’s last and best refuge including but not exclusively in these articles in chronological order published April 15, 2011 titled “If Not Israel Where do the Jews Belong?”, published April 2, 2012 titled “Israel is the Jews Last and Final Chance”, published January 4, 2014 titled “Importance of Israel to Jews Today” and published April 21, 2014, titled ”Safest Place for Jews is in Israel?”. The safe refuge that is Israel will soon be the only place of actual safety for the Jewish People. There will be those Jews who feel that such would be too much of an inconvenience but once they have visited Israel they will find their place in this magical land of miracles. My coming to Israel was decided when I was nine and made myself two promises, to care for my parents until they no longer needed assistance or was released from that promise and then make Aliyah. These remained dormant in the back of my mind until the death of my little sister and then the final decision came when I was released from the former predicating task and my move to Israel was the only thing I could think of accomplishing, and here I am, in Israel. Hashem in Torah spoke of the three exiles, the first was Egypt, the second Babylonian and the final one the Jewish People were to be cast throughout the lands of Earth such that they were in every culture and from there Hashem promised to drag them all home to Israel. This miracle was to occur as either the Jewish People became very much religious and Zionist or they were to be assimilated such that they would be indistinguishable from their neighbors as in much the United States. The crazy thing is Jewish sages always claimed that it would be one or the other but there are more Jews following the religious demands than ever in history and there is a large number of Jews assimilated and seemingly completely immersed in the culture of the nation where they reside. But anti-Israel then included with it anti-Zionism and we are witnessing the onslaught of the final and unavoidable end, the anti-Semitism, full-fledged and overt anti-Semitism reaching slowly but inexorably across Europe and beginning to take root in the United States. This is the start of the return, the reinvigoration of the dry bones.

Trembling Before Societal Threats

What we witnessed in Garland, Texas was the intentional display of one American freedom and the necessary display of a second |American freedom. Though somewhat risky, the first freedom on display was a risky, outright, and in your face expression of free speech, the kind of free speech which Pamela Geller and Geert Wilders have both made their signatory claim to fame though I would be hard pressed to choose which has been more brazen. The third person mentioned in the coverage of the event also is no stranger to controversy though his method is through political writings where Robert Spencer has also challenged Islam and the Western World’s cowardly reaction, something extremely appropriate at this event as here too subjects and brutal truths were the theme of the day. The three are all well-known by the media and often interviewed leading up to and in the aftermath of their often edgy events or their provocative speaking engagements, but this time have been mostly left high and dry by media at both extremes of the political spectrum and many inbetween. What makes this particular series of events an interesting juxtaposition was how the First Amendment right to free speech was so appropriately protected by the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms. This was proof in spades that the First Amendment would be worthless without the Second Amendment to protect it and why the Second Amendment needs to be forever protected by the First Amendment. The main spectacle displayed was the depiction on the inexorably changing media view of Draw Mohammad Cartoon events with near universal expressions and even outright support and praise across the political spectrum for the bravery of the original draw Mohammad cartoon contest when it first appeared in the Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten which published twelve initial editorial cartoons on September 30, 2005; which shrank to largely conservative and libertarian support for Charlie Hebdo Magazine and its slaughtered cartoonists and staff in the assault on their offices by two violent Islamist extremists in Paris, France; to the near universal condemnation from the self-proclaimed stalwarts of the conservative media as well as the liberal media, which has long held out long knives for Pamela Geller, for the event in Garland, Texas sponsored American Freedom Defense Initiative (AFDI) of a Draw Mohammad Art Contest to honor the murdered Charlie Hebdo cartoonists. Equally craven has been the excusing of those condemning this event claiming that the main reason for the sudden timidity exhibited by much of the conservative media has to do with the proximity of the Texas event bringing the kind of threat to people attending one such event from happening in “distant” Europe and bringing it to America’s doorstep and in this they saw in this their own vulnerability to attack by similar forces over much of their former coverage of such events and this motivated the weak-kneed responses as they attempted to back away and distance themselves from such controversial and provocative events.

We would be remiss were we not to point out the true hero of the hour who stood single handed, out gunned and facing what must have appeared to be certain death and with the cool and steady hand one could only expect to see on a movie screen, an off-duty police officer who before his heroic stand had been assigned to traffic duty. The statement made by Garland police spokesman Joe Harn stated the obvious, “He did what he was trained to do and under the fire that he was put under, he did a very good job.” I might be tempted to go slightly beyond a “good job” in my description and be inclined to use words like heroic, herculean, courageous and the kind of actions beyond all expectations and more inclined to be witnessed performed by movie heroes than expected from one previously not apparently inclined to such heroics. The officer’s name is being withheld for his own safety and rightly so. Even so, there was a SWAT team also on location placed behind the building just in case they might prove needed, and they would have been except for the gargantuan bravado of a single man to whom many owe their lives. The two would-be jihadists were armed with, according to a law enforcement source close to the investigation, six guns, a mix of assault-style semiautomatic rifles and handguns exited their vehicle firing AK-47s, a high-powered assault style semi-automatic .30-calibre rifles against the lone armed officer with a .45-caliber Glock semi-automatic pistol. Making the standoff even more uneven was the fact the would-be jihadists were wearing full body armor leaving only limited target area vulnerable to the officer’s handgun while he at best was wearing standard police protective jacket which the rifle rounds would have torn through almost effortlessly. Still, when the smoke cleared and by the time the SWAT team arrived on scene from behind the building the lone officer who was accompanying the unarmed security person who had been responsible for checking the tickets of those entering the hall and who did receive injuries, had taken down both perpetrators and did so in under fifteen seconds. That is what is called excellent and efficient gun control, the good guy standing his ground despite being grossly overmatched in firepower and armored protection and yet calmly and coolly took down both threats presented before him. One could continue to lavish praise upon praise and still not match the acts of pure bravado and stouthearted selflessness by this sole brave individual and had preventing the two criminals from gaining entrance to the hall where events were still unfolding.

In the aftermath the coverage had mostly been vindictively assailing Pamela Geller claiming that she had endangered people needlessly by her provocative actions. CNN reporter Chris Cuomo accused Pamela Geller in his tweets of being guilty of hate speech is not protected by the Constitution and the First Amendment. Kudos goes to Fox News’s Megyn Kelly shooting down a guest and the host, Bill O’Reilly, on the O’Reilly Factor. According to the presumed intrepid Bill O’Reilly, “It’s always cause and effect, OK? And the cause, because they did it, the two jihadis are dead. Now I know a lot of people aren’t feeling sorry for them, and I’m certainly not either because they were trying to kill other people. However, all right, this is what happens when you light the fuse. You get violence.” This is from the ‘No Spin Zone?’ This sounds more like the ‘Centrifugal Spin Zone’ where the target of Mr. O’Reilly had shot straighter and with less spin than was evidenced on his show. Megyn Kelly’s retort ending the discussion may have appeared over the top but how else does one halt a charging O’Reilly on his own show, so she shot back, “You know what else the jihadis don’t like? They hate Jews. Should we get rid of all Jews? That’s the path we’re gonna go down if we start catering to the jihadis.” Still, she has a point even if the description was a bit coarse and over the top. Then there was one we must credit with getting it correct; Piers Morgan, somebody I likely feel about the same towards as he does Pamela Geller, but he got it right stating, “Pamela Geller is a revolting human being. I despise everything about her, and everything she stands for. Yet I also support her right to free speech.” Very well stated and framing the argument near perfectly. I believe it was attributed to Voltaire as a summation of his attitudes towards free speech where it was succinctly put, “I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.”

That should be the attitude of every American and every lover of freedom when it comes to free speech. Uncontroversial speech does not need protection. Popular speech needs no protection. Everyday banter at the water cooler needs little protection. Political speech, especially radical speech, that is what needs protection. Pamela Geller, Geert Wilders and Robert Spencer with their Mohammad Cartoon contest and tribute to Charlie Hebdo required protection of free speech and if the two men who came to shoot the purveyors of speech with which they disagreed had instead of baring guns and the intent to use them had instead broken out protest signs and protested replete with their speaking out against the insult they perceived, that too would have deserved protection. Where people may have been offended by somebody’s spoken word, no words spoken have ever killed somebody and if there has been speech which called for violence against others, especially if the intent was purposeful to have people thus act, that is not protected. That is true hate speech which many are attempting to equate Pamela Geller with making. Their argument falls apart under any scrutiny as the only people threatened to become victims of the speech being practiced within the convention hall in Garland, Texas, were the people inside the hall exercising free speech for which two men illegally were attempting of denying them their right to free speech. Had somebody held a counter rally outside the convention hall, they too would have been making protected free speech. But had either the people within the hall or those outside the hall called for their group to proceed to kill the others, that is not protected speech. What so many are getting confused over is the difference between ‘hate speech’ and ‘call to violence speech’. The former is protected while the latter is not protected speech. Where both are a form of hate speech, only the one calling for the commission of violence is illegal. Has everybody forgotten the fight in the courts over the Nazi Party’s plans to march through the largely Jewish community of Skokie, Illinois, outside Chicago where a Nazi concentration camp survivor brought suit to stop their march and the ACLU and some of their lawyers who happened to also be Jewish defending the Nazi right to march won the Nazis defense of their freedom of expression. The march itself never took place and their demonstrations drew less than fifty people total including the media, but they won their day in court against a Jewish man while having Jewish lawyers argue their case, a point they were quite pleased with, but they proved there can be no limit to speech provided there is not call to violence. If Jews can defend the rights for Nazis to march through Skokie, then why have so many former defenders of free speech turned out to have arguments of clay as soon as it becomes slightly dangerous to protect their freedoms? Has the desire to remain free wilted to such an extent that we now must fear the death of those freedoms? I pray not, for the United States should stand for the rights of the weak and the threatened against all threats of violence and do so steadfastly and with the bravery shown by one exemplary actions of a traffic cop who must remain nameless in Garland, Texas. Perhaps if he could depend on all Americans to stand as he did when the chips were falling, then perhaps he would not need to have his name withheld and we could celebrate this man as he deserves.
