And the Courts Sentenced an Innocent to Death

We hear all the time that the death penalty is the most dangerous concept because as long as it remains an option, then it is guaranteed that the courts will sentence an innocent person to death for a crime they did not commit. Well, there has finally come just such a case except in this particular case the person sentenced to death has not committed anything against any law except the law that costs must be contained. Yes, this case a person was sentenced to death because their continued existence might prove overly costly. For the threat of costing too much in order to continue their life, a human being has received sentencing to be put down. What is even more frightening is that almost nobody appears to care. The person in question here is an infant in Britain who has a condition which the medical personnel have determined is incurable. Any infant with the exact same set of conditions in many other nations would have procedures attempted seeking to cure them. Yes, such experimentation on one with such a condition would prove costly and would not be covered nearly as sufficiently as parents financial ability might find comfortable, but there can be ways around such problems. The person sentenced to death is the infant Charlie Gard. The United States has physicians willing to treat Charlie Gard, if for no other reason, but simply to try to find the correct means of treating his disorder. The question is, will they get a chance.

The cost will not even prove to be impossible to handle as there already exist an entire web site which tells of Charlie’s medical condition, the proposed potential life saving treatment and offers contributions to assist with the legal fight and the treatments would doctors get the opportunity. New York Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center went on record last week to say that it was willing to admit Charlie as a patient or send an experimental drug to London, subject to Food and Drug Administration approval. The British courts realizing the pressure they were facing have permitted an American neurologist to examine Charlie but we expect that this is just their ploy to try and find a means to either complete their sentencing of Charlie or potentially unload the responsibility onto anyone else willing to take Charlie off their hands and clear the British medical system from this burdensome case. This is an example of the lovely single payer plan and what occurs eventually when a case presents a challenge beyond what the government is willing to cover. There are little secrets built into any universal coverage plan where the government ends up responsible for paying for the care. They have a ‘wonderful’ age scale recommending which ages are worth how much in coverage costs. What is most interesting is not that senior citizens, those past retirement age, are considered only worth minimal coverage but that the very young are equally worthless in the government’s considerations. Those children under the age of approximately fourteen are considered not yet close enough to earning age to be worth expensive treatments. This is what is Charlie’s predicament turns out to be, he is too young to be worthy of life. Wonderful system of healthcare, is it not?

Charlie Gard’s Parents Leaving the High Court in London

Charlie Gard’s Parents Leaving the High Court in London

Charlie’s Parents have run through the entire British court system even to reaching the High Court in London. What is frightening about this case and others of a similar nature where the State has decided a life is unworthy of the potential for expenses to rescue is that when it is a child, the parent’s and their willingness to pay all expenses does not determine the child’s fate, the courts and the State reserve that right. Even should the parents be extremely wealthy of have a foreign hospital willing to treat the child just to gain knowledge which can benefit future treatment of patients with the same or similar conditions, the court can refuse to release the patient for treatment elsewhere and still rule and have the patient, the child, removed from life-support and allowed, forced, to die. When the State is ultimately presumed to be responsible for healthcare, then the State determines who gets how much care and in cases where a life hangs in the balance, who lives and who is put to death. The liberals who are so concerned that some day a person will be sentenced to death wrongly by the courts apparently have little problem with the courts sentencing Charlie Gard to death simply because treating him would prove costly and inconvenience the State. Well, we finally have a case once more where the leftists sentence an innocent to death simply for the good of the State because the State stands as the ultimate good and all who oppose the ruling of the state in a case of a young child’s life simply due to their medical condition are the evil ones. Charlie Gard proves the lack of innocence of the State and if he is allowed to die, the sole reason will be that the State’s rulings must be carried out for the good of the people otherwise setting a precedent where the State can be countermanded simply because another State or individual is willing to pay the price of medical care. When the State decides you are incurable, suffering, and should be permitted to die with dignity, then you must be permitted to die with dignity. There is no dignity in death, only finality and when the death is an infant who is unable to speak up and say, ‘I want to live,’ then death it must be, or so say the British courts, and they are probably indicative of most European courts responding to the limitations dictated by the health gods. Why would any civilized peoples allow cost to determine the life of any child?

From the Hidden Crevices of the Palestinian Front

Fortunately, most of the news from this past weekend will cover the horrendous attacks on the central areas of the United States by nature in one of her favorite areas to strike, Tornado Alley. Numerous twisters demolished at least one town and has been the cause of a few fatalities and numerous injured. Some coverage out of the Middle East might cover the slow escalation of the war by the Syrian government against the Syrian people in what can only be termed a battle for that countries immediate future. There will also be some sporadic coverage of the attempted fly-in to protest the Israeli treatment of the Palestinians. The fact that most of the activists had their tickets cancelled and never reached their destination did not prevent their riotous behavior as they rioted at the airports in Brussels and Paris. A small number actually reached Ben Gurion International Airport where they were either immediately turned away and placed on planes back from whence they came or arrested when they resisted being turned away. There was also an incident between an IDF officer and an anarchist protester during what had been a two hour confrontation. The officer was filmed striking one of the protesters using the magazine of his rifle. Subsequently, the officer was suspended to await the results of an investigation. The clip has since received ample attention, far more than another report from other soldiers at the scene which described previous provocations by the protestor by striking the officer repeatedly with a wooden rod or stick causing broken fingers and abrasions.

Now for the hidden side of the news which will receive little attention, especially out in the wider world. While the human rights protesters were being foiled at their attempt to protest Israeli abuses, the Palestinian Authority, according to their interior minister Said Abu Ali, closed down the offices of Human Rights Organization. The Palestinian Human Rights Monitor reportedly ordered the shuttering of the human rights office for the reason that group’s activities were not consistent with the interests of the Palestinian people. Translating that from bald-faced misdirection into understandable truth, the organization was insisting on reporting on actions probably taken by the Palestinian Authority, the PLO, the al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades or other political or terror groups operating within Judea and Samaria (aka West Bank) to some world body such as the United Nations or worse, the international press going public with their findings. Obviously, the truth cannot be allowed to malign those valiant forces that have as their sole interests the destruction of the state of Israel and the maligning of the Jews in Israel or in general. As for what this agency might have been about to shine the light of day upon? Well, I cannot be sure but this next item sure would rate high on our “this might not make the Palestinian Authority look so pure” meter.

Muhammad Abu Shahala is a Palestinian Arab and a Muslim who is currently being held by the Palestinian Authority awaiting his execution for heinous crimes against the Palestinian people. He was arrested last week when news of his evil schemes came to light, crimes and schemes to which he had given a full confession after some hours of intense methods had been used to extract the truth from him. Apparently he was not completely forthcoming with the admission of his guilt and some degree of persuasion was required. The former intelligence agent for the Palestinian Authority, Muhammad Abu Shahala appears to have gone astray and joined the enemies of the Palestinian people. For this he was given a speedy trial almost immediately after he confessed and now awaits his execution which will proceed as soon as Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, whose nom de guerre is Abu Mazen, finds the time to sign the order making it official. By now you must be wondering what heinous crime Muhammad Abu Shahala must be guilty of committing to raise such a fevered pitch for justice. He had the audacity to assist in selling an apartment building in Hevron to fifteen Jewish families. You see, under Palestinian Law, just as under Jordanian Law, it is forbidden under pain of death to sell any property, land, housing, or other items as may be deemed detrimental to the Palestinian cause to any Jew. So, by assisting in the sale of an apartment building to some Jewish families, Muhammad Abu Shahala must pay with his life.

Thus far the only people who seem to have taken up this poor unfortunate’s cause have been some of the leadership of the Jewish communities living in Judea and Samaria. You may have heard of these Jews who are more often referred to as “settlers” which is used as a pejorative term. The Jewish settlers who live beyond the Green Line in Judea and Samaria are often portrayed as cold-hearted, selfish people who stand in the way of any peace efforts and are attempting to steal Palestinian lands and have only the worst of intents for the Palestinian people. This is obviously why these Jewish settlers are protesting the execution of this criminal who had the audacity to sell a property to a group of Jewish families. The settlers have petitioned the Israeli government to take whatever steps prove necessary to prevent the execution, or should I say vindictive murder of Muhammad Abu Shahala. They have even called for use of a military raid to free him and prevent his sacrifice on the altar of hatred. One can only ask what kind of world are we living in if a person can be executed for selling property to somebody who happens to be Jewish. And, does the world really believe that the Palestinian Authority is ready to join in the community of nations if they use torture to gain confessions and execute their own people for selling land to a Jew? This whole sordid affair sheds a light on those who lead the Palestinian Authority and those with whom the world demands that Israel meet halfway making them into a country where such actions as this execution may continue to be commonplace. It all makes sense when you remember and add into the discussion that Mahmoud Abbas and all of the leaders in the Palestinian authority demand that once they have their own independent country it must be wiped and made free of Jews while they also demand that Israel accept millions of Palestinian Arabs as full citizens of Israel. Does nobody see the rank hypocrisy in all of this?

The Other Side of the House in Hevron

If you follow the Middle East, Israel, the Arab-Israeli conflict or read this site regularly, you have heard about the house and the expulsion of its new Jewish residents by the Israeli government in Hevron. For those who need, here is the story in a nutshell. A group of fifteen Jewish families bought a small multi-floor apartment building from its previous Arab owner in Hevron close to the Machpelah, the Cave of the Patriarchs, where Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Sarah, Rebecca, and Leah, the Jewish Patriarchs and Matriarchs, are all buried. This house is close to one of the holiest locations in all of Judaism. These Jewish families moved into their newly purchased home as it was vacant and by not taking residence immediately could result in squatters taking up residence which would then require weeks, months, or even years to challenge and get action taken through the courts. Minister of Defense Ehud Barak took upon himself the decision to force the families’ eviction from their newly and legally purchased home quoting the fact they had not received authorization to inhabit their new home from the appropriate Ministry. By the way, the appropriate Ministry just happens to be the Defense Ministry and is received by getting the signature of Defense Minister Ehud Barak. So, he denied simply signing a permission form and instead signed an order to evict the families. Now let us discuss for the rest of this story including one really sad and much overlooked sides of the story.

Within hours after the eviction had been carried out by the Defense Civil Authority Police there was an altercation at the house when a group of leftist and Arabs attempted to take up squatting in the house in order to prevent the Jewish families who bought the house from being able to reside in the house once they were able to get Ehud Barak to sign the necessary papers, no easy feat in itself. Fortunately, the Civil Authority Police had remained at the house to prevent the reoccupation by the evicted families and thus were able to prevent the Arabs and activists from taking up squatting and stealing the property. Whether the Defense Ministry and Ehud Barak will allow these forces to remain at the house in order to protect the rights of the owners is something that remains to be seen. My best bet is that within a week the families who legally purchased this apartment building will still be futilely attempting to gain the approval along with Ehud Barak’s signature on a simple permit. The Israeli Defense Minister acts and very likely is excessively averse to allowing any Jews to take up residence anywhere past the Green Line in the areas of Judea and Samaria, also referred to by the non-judgmental name the West Bank. The one positive which may arise from this travesty and abuse of power by the Defense Minister would be a reckoning that results in his replacement at long last.

I told you all of this just to get to the real tragedy which likely will result from this entire fiasco. The Arab who sold the building to the Jewish families currently sits in detention, jailed for the crime of selling property to a Jew. Just as it is in Jordan, so it is with the Palestinian Authority who chose to continue to enforce the law which punishes any Palestinian who sells property to a Jew with the penalty of death. That’s right; sell land or property to a Jew and you will be hung from a crane in the town square or lynched by a mob, simple as that. This unfortunate person’s guilt is a fait accompli. There may be a trial, though such a formality has not always been found necessary in the past, but such a formality would only be performed should the persecutors of this inquisition believe they are being observed by the outside world, otherwise they will proceed straight to the execution. The execution will likely be taken after a mob has been gathered and roused to the point of bloodlust and then turned loose on this person who simply entered a transaction to sell an abandoned apartment building. The fact he sold it to Jews is sufficient proof of his having committed a horrendous crime against the whole of Palestinian society and the entirety of Islam, meriting death.

Yet, despite this despicable mutilation of justice, which will be sanctioned then carried out by the Palestinian Authority, it will be ignored by the elites in the West. These same elites will be busy condemning the fifteen Jewish families for attempting to steal a piece of Hevron and Judaize this sacred Palestinian area. Never mind that Hevron was home to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob; never mind that Hevron was King David’s original Capitol City before he moved it to Jerusalem; never mind that the Machpelah sits on the edge of Hevron and is the second most holy place for all of Judaism; it only matters that Jews were buying land that the elitists in the world have given away and removed its Jewish importance. But even worse, never mind that an Arab will be put to death in the most heinous and barbaric of rituals for the crime of selling land to a Jew. Never mind the level of hatred which must exist in the hearts, assuming they have any, of those who willingly murder a man for simply entering a sale with somebody who is a Jew. And just think what would be the intent of such people to the Jews who had the audacity to purchase land from an Arab, to Jews who so blatantly proved their lack of acceptance of their dhimmitude place in society. The true horror that will befall the unfortunate and innocent Arab who will be put to death not actually because of his selling land to a Jew but because of the hatred those who will kill him have for all Jews. His real crime is not hating Jews sufficiently to satisfy the Palestinian leadership and those who support the terror and hatred committed by them. Which is the bigger crime here, Jews buying a place to live in an ancient and holy city from ancient Eretz Yisroel or putting a man to death for having the audacity to sell land to a Jew? Anyone too conflicted and who takes more than an instant to choose, is in definite need to of a lot of introspection.
