Investment in Higher Educations Hath Wrought

 

College and University faculty and administrators were dominated by conservative and largely religious members in the 1950’s and 1960’s. Starting in the late 1960’s a far more liberal and leftist influence was given the initial entry. The reasoning was that they added a diversity of thought and there was little desire to use intellectual viewpoints as an exclusionary criterion. These new faculty, and soon also administrators, initially showed some degree of openness but often they would make arguments that their positions were in the minority. This argument held sufficient weight that within a short period of time, these leftists and their petitioning established themselves as a slight majority. Once they had established majorities in a goodly number of universities and colleges, they began a purge of the conservatives, often offering early retirement with sizeable severance bonus as an incentive, one might say bribe, to depart early allowing for more of their own numbers. This quickly led to the situation these institutions are in today with rare exceptions. This was the beginning of the purging of the institutions which seek college and university graduates to fill their positions, particularly the upper management and high-skilled positions. They were able to infiltrate and then control the greater part of the media, educators of the public schools systems as well as many private systems, entertainment, information technology positions, the main internet corporations and virtually all the major metropolitan government and the deep state of the Federal Government. These are the sources of the recent upheavals in American and European societies where much of traditions have been turned on their heads. Today society has been fragmented into thousands of identity first groups which can be pitted one against the other.

 

The new normal is if you belong to any group which is perceived to have had any kind of advantage in the past, then you must pay for that history and be denigrated and denied a fair opportunity for positions, advancement or preference of any kind. For example, white males must pay for the entire history of the industrialized west and their positions of power within. Remarkably, the sole measure is who held the positions of power in the industrialized western world. For example, there are no impediments placed on Muslims who actually are considered to be disadvantaged despite their historic period of empire which remains today as the Arab Middle East and North Africa (MENA) and has shown signs of becoming resurgent. Somehow, Arabs have been determined to be a minority people of color needing assistance against the former dominant white males. Never mind that there have been numerous different groups who were the dominant culture all over the globe. The Mongols had one of the largest empires in all of history. The Chinese have had several periods of empire and may be on the verge of another period of greater influence and power. Thailand was formerly known as Siam when they held power over much of Southeast Asia. Russia has been referred to as Empire throughout history. The French, British, Spanish, Dutch, Portugal and others have all had periods of Empire. There were empires in the Americas such as the Toltec, Olmec, Maya and Aztec. There have been empires from early history such as the Egyptian, Hittite, Babylon, Assyrian, Carthaginian, Pandyan, Macedonian, Seleucid, Ptolemaic, Armenian and others before Rome, talking about empires. A rather comprehensive list of empires over the years and around the globe can be found here. The point is virtually every race and peoples held empire of some measure somewhere in history. Despite history showing that all peoples were at some time rulers of their area and the most advanced in their regions, only Caucasians, and mostly males, are being targeted by the new, leftist political establishment. Truthfully, the targeting seems to actually get even more specific, it attempts to target conservative and religious when possible.

This is the result of identity politics. The problem is once you claim you resent identity politics or even use the terminology identity politics, that makes you a target as anyone complaining about identity politics is obviously a racist individual who probably uses racial identity as part of your determination of who is to be trusted and who is a danger. The leftists who practice identity politics though, are serving to equalize past discrepancies which caused inequalities favoring one group over others. The other thing necessary to know is that there are a few rules which are the truths which have presumably given certain groups advantages over other groups and these have been true over all of history, according to the authorities of identity politics. One of these rules is that men have had advantages over women, whites over other races and these have been the two main standards. There is one set of rules which holds for nations and they have been defined as those who have been the industrialized militarily successful nations. That and have had White privilege. That restricts this to Europeans, the United States and the rest of the British Empire nation. There have been some exceptions such as Japan which was one of the nations which fits the description but misses one main contingent, white privilege. There is one nation and its people who, despite not having any empire for the last three-thousand years, being of many different racial makeups and having been the victim of one of the greatest acts of hatred in history who have still been placed as the one nation alongside the United States as the greatest example of privilege, Israel and the Jews. Evidence of this can be seen in the example pictured below. This image has been used by Black Lives Matter (BLM) as well as far right White Supremacist groups with both claiming that Jews were manipulating and stealing positions which should have been given to them. The Jews hold the unique position of being targeted as the cause of people’s problems by the extremes on the left and the right. The way the Jewish people are described one would not be blamed for believing there is no such thing as a Jew who is not wealthy, or at the very worst, not poor. This is not entirely true, which I can honestly attest to as a former day laborer who was often not the first chosen for jobs being of slight build when younger and will wish I could get back to that weight again. What is interesting is that in many instances it would be all but impossible to differentiate between Jews and Muslims in a line-up.

 

White Privilege Starts with Jewish Privilege

 

The whole idea of pretending that racial or religious preferences exist or that discrimination is a huge problem and very probably the largest challenge society faces. What is sad is that the same people who are claiming that racial, religious, gender and other such qualifiers are still used as the main and decisive reasons for hiring personnel actually get audience in the United States or much of the developed world. Those battles were fought and pretty much settled in the last century and using it for political purposes and to infuriate and activate to the verge of violence or beyond is one of the saddest truths today. There are other sad truths which revolve around these purely political claims and forced divisiveness. Society in the United States was in many ways less divided forty and fifty years ago than it is today. This sad reality is very much being forced intentionally in order to divide society and wield an unbeatable political alliance. A large part of what makes the problems being faced by many in our society are not as much racial and financial. Those living in the heart of most large metropolises are stuck in broken schools where the atmosphere for learning is completely stifled by a combination of policies demanding that the public schools must take even the most disruptive students requiring much effort be invested in security along with the least experienced teachers being assigned makes these schools often substandard. Charter Schools often can make a difference, as they are not restrained by many of the worst inhibitions and limitations placed on the regular public schools. They choose their own teachers and are permitted to hire, fire, promote and demote without interference by teachers’ unions or school boards. These special schools also can choose to expel students who are disruptive while the public school has no such power any longer. The Charter Schools are opposed by the teachers’ unions and the politicians who support these unions. Were the entirety of schools were permitted to operate under the same rules the level of education in the inner cities would improve drastically, and the union would cease to have any power. That union power and the politics behind it has sentenced the poor, the financially disabled, to continue to have little hope of climbing out from the hole in which they were born. There was a time when all schools ran with similar rules as the Charter Schools and provided and superior product to the inner cities than they are now capable of providing, rules as they are.

 

There once were special schools for the most problematic student called Reform Schools. There once were asylums for the mentally challenged or disabled. Some social scientists decided that these institutions were counterproductive and that such individuals would be better served if they were integrated into the mainstream rather than treated separately. The theory was that by mixing these differently challenged individuals with the normative individuals they would be better off and would, in time, be normalized. There was no concern what effect such changes would have on the so-called normative individuals. For the mentally disadvantages this became numerous mentally ill individuals no longer making their appointments with supervising physicians, getting or taking their medicines or having their counselling sessions. Many of these individuals were not better for their experience and became fair numbers of the homeless. Without medical attention, they simply were incapable of functioning within society, and some believe those who decided this was a wise experiment knew this would be the result. Some believe that they actually hoped for this as it provided yet another political football to put in play at election time. For students in schools in what some refer to as troubled areas, others call inner cities, the level of education completely fell apart. This too was part of the plan so that more political power would come from the problem caused. They have decided that people are less important than political power and funds which brings more influence and thus more power. The entire game is being played with human capital and the society of the United States is losing the longer this game is played. The problem grows and very few ever desire to take on the battle because the deck is stacked, the game rigged and the field tilted against you. As soon as you begin to point to the problems, you run into the name-calling. When you claim that there is a problem with the inner city schools, you are labeled a racist. When you address the mental problems plaguing many of the homeless, you are labeled unfeeling. When you step onto this field, the leftist and liberal media will tear you to pieces, the left wing politicians will denounce you, teachers from the union will cast you as the devil incarnate, and every derogatory name in the book will become attached to your name, and very few are willing to take that risk. All we can say is we have nothing to lose in such a theater because if people are helped, then it was worth the risks.

Middle East News From the Other Perspective

 

With the waves of refugees and other various persons attempting to storm the fences and borders of Europe running into water cannons, hastily thrown up twelve foot fences, riot police, military forces and Heaven knows what other obstacles. It is like all of a sudden we have Apartheid Europe. The media have noted that Angela Merkel, Prime Minister of Germany, who had pledged to give refuge to eight-hundred-thousand Syrian and other refugees, has thrown up every conceivable barrier assuring Germany is closed at the borders and probably had not even allowed eight-thousand, let alone eight-hundred-thousand, refugees across her borders. Many have probably asked themselves that all important question all things in the Middle East eventually come around to, what has Israel done and how can we place the blame on Israel and force them to take in every last refugee. Well, I will give the small amounts I can remember and then an opinion or two.

 

First-off; Israel has taken in hundreds, if not thousands, of injured people from the Syrian border without any question as to for which group, side, terror outfit, civilian, innocent or guilty or even member of Bashir al-Assad’s ever diminishing Armed Services and treated them all at no cost, nursed them back to full health or the closest point possible and returned them back over the border with a few very select minority which have remained here for reasons I am not privileged to know. We have been providing these services which include performing emergency operations, transport to the many different hospitals in order to provide the best possibility for survival and recovery, and even provided some degree of physical therapy where necessary. These services have been provided free of charge but far from free from costs as many of the wounded required multiple surgeries and extensive recuperation time which was necessarily provided under special conditions for the security of the patient and the State of Israel and her people. Needless to point out that each patient had to be kept separate from any other patient from the war-torn nation as it might prove detrimental to have two patients handed over the border for medical assistance housed in the same room or even near each other in a hospital even with a twenty-four hour per day guards on their room. We desired to mend these fellow human beings and taking such risks might have proven detrimental to such ends.

 

Hopefully there are not any out in the world who expect Israel to take any refugees in from the Syrian war or the Iraq war or especially the war with the Islamic State. We hope that those we have treated will not come back at some future date and make our investment in mending their wounds suddenly become detrimental to our own people’s health and happiness, but sometimes these are the chances one takes when being decent peoples. Israel is all too experienced in being on the losing end of humanitarian gestures throughout the millennia of our existence and in the four corners of the globe and everywhere inbetween. As far as Israel taking in refugees from the violence in Syria and the devastation which has resulted, Israel had offered some refuge to two tribes of Druze and have also granted them Israeli umbrella of protection warning that actions against these Druze, after consultation and determining they desire, Israel will provide all necessary assistance for their protection. There have been discussion about having the Israeli Druze population make offers to take in these Druze from Syria, an offer which was turned down as the Druze desire to remain in their ancestral home. As far as Israel allowing Syrian refugees to enter, such would first be destructive to Israeli society and second would be a security nightmare attempting to discern which were true refugees and which were terrorist plants or other subversive individuals who would prove to be a danger to the Israeli public.

 

In other news which we have noted, news reports were leading with most articles telling of the IDF airstrike in northern Gaza on a terror weapons storage warehouse. What was finally mentioned in the third or fourth paragraph was that three rockets were launched at Ashkelon, which would have struck the heart of the city if not for being intercepted by Israel’s miraculous Iron Dome system which successfully destroyed all three rockets, and could have easily resulted in heavy loss of life. These three rockets were the exclamation point on the drib-n-drab of one rocket every other or third day until this escalation. Of course there was little if any mention of the rocket fire over the past couple of weeks as such attacks have become an awkward form of normal and as long as the projectiles do not kill anybody or earn an Israeli retaliatory strike, they do not reach the level of being newsworthy as targeting Israelis is not all that exciting. Apparently, unless the news can lead with Israel launched an attack on poor and unfortunate innocent Gazans where fortunately nobody was injured, then there can be no article. Has anybody noticed that unlike the rockets, rock attacks, recent gunfire and firebombings, the Israeli attacks seldom cause any casualties unless there is a specific target such as a ranking Hamas or Islamic Jihad terrorist who is in the process of planning or training a terror squad for an attack. This is oddly intentional and makes Israel one of the few, if not only, nation to go to extreme lengths to not even have attacks which kill terrorist forces if at all possible and mainly target terror structures and supplies and almost always in the wee morning hours when all the terrorists are home sleeping soundly in their beds.

There have been many recent rock attacks with on particular assault one Rosh Hashanah evening in Jerusalem which resulted in the murder of Alexander Levlovitz age 64 who lost control of his vehicle after a cinderblock sized boulder smashed through his windscreen. Meanwhile, the world including the Arab League, the King of Jordan, the Royals of Saudi Arabia, numerous United Nations officials and the same expected Western officials from NGOs and other Western entities including select governments have been complaining about the criminal violence and rioting on the Temple Mount. The facts are meaningless as almost unilaterally the demands have been for Israel to take steps to end the violence on the Temple Mount, the city of Jerusalem and the entirety of Judea and Samaria. They claim that Israel is responsible for the violence and must therefore end the violence. What has been left out on this miscarriage of justice and ignorance of the facts is the accepting blindly the Islamic accusations that Israel is responsible for all the violence and only Israel can correct the problems which will end these ever increasing waves of violence. Let’s take each of the areas of violence one at a time working from the large to the most specific.

 

The violence in Judea and Samaria has the widest range of events. These incidents are laughingly referred to as rock throwing. These projectiles are to rocks what the Saturn Five Moon launch vehicle is to a roman candle. These are rocks varying in size from as small as a hardball to as large as cinderblock and these are simply the thrown varieties. Those which are dropped from bridges are considerable larger. Also included in these “rocks” are firebombs, read Molotov Cocktails, which vary in size from twelve ounce bottles to as large as two liter or even larger bottles filled with various flammable liquids, some thickened to allow them to stick to the targets and light them on fire. These projectiles almost universally target vehicles with Israeli license plates. The people hurling these projectiles are Arab youths between age ten to twelve to well into adult ages up to even over thirty. There are also numerous tactics used in delivering these rock and firebombs with one using blocks the size of one to two cinderblocks but solid rock have likely the most imaginative method where a lookout stands around a corner looking for a likely target, preferably a vehicle with Israeli license plates and a family riding inside. When the lookout sees a preferable target they call their accomplices who are at the far end of a straight piece of road leading to the curve in the road with a hill or buildings which conceal their approach. They then accelerate attempting to reach maximum speed a short distance from the curve and the Arabs in the back of the pickup truck then hurl the rather large rock or group of smaller rocks and a firebomb or two and then make the turn at the curve, pick up their accomplice and disappear after making a maximal damaging assault. It was such an attack which injured Adele Biton causing her massive brain damage. She was almost three at the time of the attack and lived to see her next birthday and was given a party at the hospital where they had been using surgeries and physical therapy in an effort to save her young life. Moving to Jerusalem the attacks include rock attacks though the tactic of using vehicles to deliver larger rocks is almost unknown. Instead there are more rock attacks, rock ambushes, rioting, muggings, firebombings and recently shootings. There are rock ambushes used against parties entering the Mount of Olives Cemetery by the Arabs attending the Arab Schools at the top of a wall overlooking the main road leading into and out of the cemetery. There have been recent ramping of the violence in Jerusalem with shootings and Molotov Cocktails utilized in attacks between neighborhoods with Arabs victimizing Jewish residents the main direction of the assaults. There have been the uses of vehicles to strike at people waiting at train and bus stations. It was an assault within the confines of Jerusalem which caused the death of Alexander Levlovitz age 64 over the past week as well as starting one home on fire. The same kinds of attacks are daily occurrences on the Temple Mount. The Arabs have been instructed to make visiting the Temple Mount near impossible and make it into a horrific experience instead of a positive and spiritual experience. There are screaming crowds of women and men who flock surrounding Jews who ascend to the Temple Mount destroying any enjoyment. These demonstrations are under orders and financing which include Jordan and Saudi Arabia and other Arab and Islamic forces. These same forces and commanders who are giving the go ahead to assault Israelis with terrorism are the same sources with the complaints that Israel is to blame, something the world, especially Europeans, lap up like a sponge and water. These demands for Israel to put an end to the rioting on the Temple Mount, Jerusalem and beyond are a collection of bald faced deceitful lying political entities attempting to garner world support for pushing Israel from the Temple Mount, Jerusalem and eventually the Middle East. They know their entire front is as false as they come and that if the world would approach these accusations honestly the Arab forces would not have a leg to stand upon. The actual target of these forces, both the perpetrators and the supportive forces from around the world is the death of every last Jews on the planet and they will not stop until they have driven the Jews into a small enclave and arranged for the annihilation of those within the enclave. That is their minimum demand and their demands only become more shrill and all-encompassing of all things anti-Israel, anti-Zionist and ultimately anti-Semitic. The only way to end their campaigns of lies is for the Israelis to use whatever force required and drive them from our rightful lands as per every treaty and having precedence over every argument which can all be found with simple searches and are things either we have already covered or will do so in the not too distant future. In the meantime please know that the left is not the friend of Israel or those who treasure Hashem and believe in Heaven as the left has no room for such people and would have them arrested and shot if they could.

 

Overnight we had a series of events which, though tragic, could have been far worse. Under the cover of early morning darkness two-thousand Jews were escorted in armored transport (busses) by IDF security forces to pray at Joseph’s Tomb (Kever Yoseph) located in Shechem (Nablus), Samaria. They went to pray and honor one of the greatest Bible figures and whose tomb, a shrine, originally was presumed to be left under Israeli control. The necessity of such precautions such as armored busses and IDF escorts became necessary after Palestinian rioting and organized assaults drove the IDF and Israelis from the entire town and then desecrated Joseph’s Tomb burning the entire contents and collapsing the dome. During that firefight in Shechem an IDF soldier was injured and the Palestinian Fatah gunmen took up positions guarding the injured soldier refusing to allow for his retrieval or treatment watching for hours as the young man slowly bled to death. Since then Kever Yoseph has been destroyed regularly and rebuilt by IDF and religious Jews. This morning we can add additional violence to the events at Joseph’s tomb as, while guarding the worshipers, approximately sixty Palestinians launched an assault on the tomb hurling rocks firebombs and other projectiles as well as rolling burning tires into the compound injuring one soldier but fortunately none of the worshipers. The young soldier was evacuated to a hospital for further treatment. While looking at the images of the desecration of Kever Yoseph, a defilement not worthy of international outrage or even a mention by the mainstream media, imagine what the front page pictures across the world would show if the same was done to the al-Aqsa Mosque.

Neutered IDF Lost Control of Soldier to Leftist Instigated Clash

 

There is a video which shows a confrontation that slowly but steadily escalates which is a certain sign that the entire confrontation was staged and carefully orchestrated to produce a desired end, the isolation of an IDF soldier and the apparent shaming of the soldier by depicting him as defenseless and helpless against any aggressions against the soldier. The entire video is shown below. The length of the video is a full nine minutes with the last four starting at the five minute mark displays the desired end result, a surrounded soldier being beaten by teenage girls and soon backed up by women. The soldier was attempting to subdue a rock thrower who has what may well be a broken arm in a sling which may have contributed to the soldier taking a less strident means for restraining the youth who resists making his being taken more difficult than it already was given the terrain. So, first the video and then more discussion on the probable other factors which many outside, and even inside, of Israeli territories are unaware of but the foreign instigators and Arab rock throwers and others are fully aware and take full advantage due to the dire situation.

 

 

 

 

The first thing which needs to be pointed out is this entire fiasco may have been committed and carefully orchestrated to result in a single IDF soldier attempting to arrest the youth with the cast on his arm. Watching the video carefully from the seven minutes-forty seconds through the seven minutes-fifty seconds introduced into the scene was an individual wearing a blue-grey T-shirt, baseball cap and with a large backpack strapped on his back. He enters the scene and is careful not to become too intrusive and involved in the events but who has taken the moment to challenge further the soldier who has apparently extricated himself. If not for the intervention of the second IDF soldier, this intervention might have engaged the first soldier sufficiently long enough to allow for the mob to reengage thus providing the camera person filming the entire event to get some more ‘choice’ video of the hapless and helpless weak IDF.

The video depicts a soldier unable to cope with women and children, an IDF boy, not a man as he could not even perform his duties when assaulted by women, for even further propaganda and largely shot to shame the soldiers and depict the superiority of the Arabs. This briefly intervening person appears to be a Leftist instigator and coordinator likely from Europe and in the area to gather film such as they were able to shoot today. The video concluded with the name “Bilal Tamimi” emblazoned in red across the closing view. The name Bilal Tamimi appears to be connected with Palestinian videos largely depicting violent exchanges and edited to give the worst possible depiction of the IDF and the heroic Palestinians. Often the theme is the Palestinians as David against Goliath IDF forces and, at least true to the original story, David proves victorious. Unfortunately the reality is the Palestinian Arabs’ efforts have the support and backing of the vast majority of Arabs including the leaders of various Arab and Muslim nations. The Palestinian Arabs are the proxy being used in order to give the impression of the Israeli giant and brutal forces when should they ever succeed in using world pressures to force Israel back to her pre-1967 Six Day War borders, then the full Arab force of as many as five to ten nations will contribute forces, financing and other essentials for the next attempt to drive the Jews into the sea.

 

Analyzing the causality for the events depicted on the video is the long chain of command all the way back to the Israeli Supreme Court. Believe it or not, the Israeli Supreme Court took upon itself the task of reviewing and tweaking, they referred to it as humanizing, we would more refer to it as empowerment of the enemy through the handcuffing and forcing the IDF and other Israeli security forces by allowing deadly force in almost no circumstances and should such force ever be used, the soldier in question would be considered to have acted improperly and will face a command court of inquiry where the soldier will need not only to defend their actions but prove the absolute need for their ‘overt act of undue violence.’ Every time overt force is implemented, especially involving a weapon even if only as a threat, the offending soldier and potentially their commander will at the very least be forced to take additional training. This additional training does not give the soldier or their commander any new techniques or methods of engagement. No, this additional training is given by lawyers from the IDF who review the reasons against ever harming an Arab Palestinian or Western leftists who orchestrate and direct these confrontations as it is more important to deny these instigators with an act of violence than it is to avoid giving the effect of an emasculated IDF incapable of handling any opposition. The Rules of Engagement (ROE) are far more stringent than those placed on the troops of the United States, Britain or any of the other nations assisting in Iraq and Afghanistan, and those ROEs were excessively stifling as it was. Our brief article from December 19, 2006, titled ROE, the Real Problem in Iraq gives an accounting of the ROE for United States and most allied forces in Iraq. It was the ROE which spelled the end of the career of Lt Colonel Allen West which we reported about in the second half beneath the video of ret. Lt. Colonel Allen West speaking on the issues of the day as he views them. The article written on July 31, 2015 was titled How to React When Your Societal World is Threatened. These references should grant a clearer insight into the problems which a poorly constructed and stifling set of ROE can and does place a soldier.

 

The additional problem with the ROE lies in the IDF, particularly those at the front lines where the dangers they face are real threats to health, body, limb and life, having their ROE inspected by non-military and non-combat panels. Requiring that the ROE have the approval of lawyers would be bad enough if those lawyers were also at least soldiers or possibly a panel of politicians comprised of Members of the Knesset, or the Prime Minister’s Cabinet, but definitely not the justices of the Supreme Court of Israel. The Israeli Supreme Court in question is largely leftist in their political views; reside in safe neighborhoods far from the realities in Judea and Samaria; and lastly we can be assured that no more than two or at most three ever served or were trained to fight in the front lines, particularly as these lines are today. One piece of information that may not have imparted the hard impact upon the judges is the potential for loss of life when soldiers suffer hard impact from stones thrown very often with accuracy and ill intent using slings or the size of the rocks which often are as large or larger than cinderblocks and boulders and the full threat such hold. Rock throwers are a very real threat to life and limb of the IDF soldiers yet they are not permitted to protect themselves from such attacks with lethal power themselves. They are pretty much left to depend on teargas grenades and other non-lethal and nearly completely ineffective methods. As was depicted in this video, the grenades are often retrieved by the sling throwers and launched right back at the IDF positions with great efficiency. The ineffective ROE has also been evidenced by recent reports where soldiers refused to take steps to terminate rock-throwers who were targeting passing vehicles as should they engage these rock-throwing terrorists they could very well find themselves set upon and in threat of breaking their ROE defending themselves. It is apparently wiser not to engage and appear impotent than to actually take steps to enforce the law and protect the citizens from potentially bodily harm on top of a damaged vehicle.

 

The first item which needs to be addressed would have to be what kind of support, if any, will the current government provide perhaps by simply holding a meeting between the Defense Minister, Prime Minister and a selection of others from varying sides on the issue and actually review the ROE and make changes where there are needs to do so. IDF commanders need to update their thinking as they are still using the ROE and definitions of threat which applied very nicely and politely to suicide murderers and catching them before they could effectively self-detonate. The IDF soldiers are no longer fighting that form of war and are now often attacked simply because unless the Arabs fire actual bullets or have already stabbed and potentially murdered an Israeli or a soldier can they use lethal force, and even then they are advised that hand-to-hand combat engagement is preferred. It is really easy to prefer the most dangerous and potentially life threatening manner of disarming a knife wielding Arab Palestinian than to shoot them in their legs and thus making their detention safer for the IDF personnel. This is not possible as the ROE are not written with the IDF soldier in mind but rather the protection from harm the ignoble Arab Palestinian which the Supreme Court appears to presser using their powers to rescue than they do IDF soldiers. That situation needs to be adjusted so that a soldier knows that his commanders all the way up to the Director General, Major General Dan Harel, Deputy Defense Minister, Eli Ben-Dahan (Jewish Home), Defense Minister, Moshe Ya’alon (Likud), and finally Prime Minister, Benyamin (Bibi) Netanyahu are supportive of their professionalism and judgement. They trust that your use of deadly force is solely in those situations where absolutely necessary; instead of precisely the point at which your life is in imminent mortal danger, which proves too late more often than not.

Israeli leadership have a wonderful, if not exactly preferable, set of values by which they attempt to make Israel the most civilized and righteous nation in all things and especially all appearances no matter how contrived to do the opposite by European and American leftists deployed to Israel with implicit instructions and trained in techniques for directing events in order to provide the most embarrassing or unprovoked physical threat or action which can be edited from the filming of a confrontation. One can usually bet that there are Western Leftists behind any confrontation being expertly filmed and often edited. This wonderful goal runs afoul of the practical but dangerous situations which soldiers often find themselves. The IDF is so stifled and literally forbidden from using force, not just lethal force but any force. They are required to passively hold their ground when under attack by rock-throwing Arabs. If these assaults happen to those writing the ROE, they would immediately rewrite the ROE to make whatever actions they decided on at the moment of threat as necessary, starting with the use of weapons many Knesset Ministers carry on their selves. Such a ROE would be quite enlightening, would it not?

 

The facts are that the current ROE lessens any readily available reason for an escalation. Nobody should desire events to return to the stone-throwing being backed by rifle carrying men ready to answer violence with violence. All too often the launching of teargas grenades would obstruct vision and the sound of a rifle-shot echoed a moment before everything went past crazy and into lethal insanity. Sometimes it was a perceived threat, a potential detected which would be utilized, a finger raised or placed near to the trigger, then bullets would be exchanged often for a mere ten seconds, ten seconds which took a week to pass in the combatant’s mind. The result was inevitable, the youth stuck between the two combatants shooting at ghostly wisps of the other side, targeting anything which moved. This resulted in the wounding or deaths of the rock-throwing teens and younger who were caught in the middle of a gunfight. The contributing factor would be the age of the average rock-throwing youth as many are merely teenagers under nineteen and many likely in their preteen years. On the other side, the age of the recruit in the IDF is eighteen and nineteen which are recent graduates from High School. There exists a sole redeeming quality of the current ROE, it prevents escalations. Still, the ROE needs to be altered if only to trust more completely those we train and then hand them a weapon and tell them to almost never fire the weapon no matter the provocation. There actually is a deterrent force which is the paperwork which becomes necessary to describe in detail any shooting so a board can review the situation as perceived by the people present. The most common explanation given despite each bearing its own specifics would still be sufficient for reference for review. In a normal world, or should we claim a more perfect world, these children would still be hanging out together but would instead of playing this potentially deadly game would be playing soccer or hiking and what-not. It is a crime that they end up at each other’s throats. That is the saddest of realities as is each death on both sides. That is the sole damning quality of the current ROE. Still, the ROE needs to be altered if only to trust more completely those we train and, not as is the current policy, handing them a weapon and tell them to almost never fire the weapon no matter the provocation.
