Israel Palestinian Conundrum Culmination

For initial articles, click for first here and click for second here.

Where two days ago we gave some potential options and yesterday, we gave a possible scenario; the scenario was less than wonderful for much of the free world and horrific for Israel. The fortunate thing is that none of these things are likely to occur. There is a small fly in the ointment and it is about the size of the average rhinoceros. We mentioned the problem and some of you probably caught the problem, Hamas gets to retain their twenty-five-thousand man Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades military. This will be the central question to be resolved at the Cairo meeting on Tuesday, November 21, where the reconciliation will be finalized. The main stumbling block will be Hamas’ insistence on retaining their rather large police/security forces, well over ten-thousand strong plus their military wing, all twenty-five thousand well-armed men with a number of officers trained in Iran. The initial agreement allowed Fatah and the Palestinian Authority (PA) to station a security force numbering about ten-thousand officers strong. If you do the math, it turns into thirty-five thousand Hamas force fully armed against the PA lightly armed ten-thousand police force largely toting with side arms. It’s not really a fair fight, which is why we are glad that we are not part of their security force. Hamas has little intention of allowing the PA to actually take control over Gaza and is simply making the initial steps towards unification which will come to a crashing halt at their next meeting. This has happened before with the initial agreement being reached in order to throw a large wrench into the machinery while everything falls apart subsequently after whatever peace proposals forming are burned to ashes from whence they came. The PA and Hamas are great believers in ashes to ashes when it comes to peace initiatives. As we explained over the last two days, there are quite a few peace proposals being initiated or given some trial run and the PA was getting quite nervous that things just might turn against them and they would be trapped by Trump or Mudar Zahran or whoever so they turned to their supposed rivals for a little cooperation for a period of time sufficient to destroy all peace proposals.

What it comes down to is that Mahmoud Abbas, the leadership of Hamas, of Fatah, of the PLO and of the PA have millions of reasons why they do not desire peace at any price. Each of those reasons has a Dollar or a Euro attached to them and amount to millions per year except for Mahmoud Abbas and family where it comes to millions per month. They cannot accept any form of peace treaty where Israel remains as a Jewish State. It could remain as an Islamic run state under sharia law where the Jews are subject to the Jizya and the Jews, Christians and anyone not within the PA, PLO or Fatah are dhimmi subjected to the shame and degradations which goes along with dhimmitude. The problem for Mahmoud Abbas is he promised to destroy the Zionist Entity otherwise known as Israel or the Jewish State. He promised to accomplish this by swamping Israel with millions of displaced Arabs, something he actually did not have until recently with the destruction and dissolving of Syria, Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, and the Arab world in general after the Arab Spring initiated by President Obama with the able support of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Hamas has an even larger promise they intend to keep. They also want to destroy Israel as the Jewish state but want to also eradicate the Jewish population. Just to make things clear, Hamas wants to eradicate the entirety of the Jewish population everywhere. The rest of the terror groups are either attached to the PA, PLO plus Hamas or they are permitted to operate within the areas under their control. Islamic Jihad is one such group who operates within Gaza and is aided by Iran and work cooperating with Hamas. Sometimes Hamas uses the presence of Islamic Jihad as an excuse for terror strikes when they need to explain attacks against treaties. There are a number of other minor groups operating in Gaza plus rumors that al-Qaeda, Islamic Jihad and Muslim Brotherhood have been known to operate command and control people out of Gaza controlling their Sinai Peninsula forces. All of these groups depend on there being no peace with Israel to continue their operations.

The reconciliation, as we keep stating, was used as it always has, to destroy any possibility for any peace talks or other potential for ending the Palestinian cause which has been used as a center for terror operations worldwide. Hezballah in Lebanon has been used as a conduit by Iran to funnel weapons into Gaza for Islamic Jihad and at times for Hamas as well. Hezballah is not just a terror group working for Iran in Lebanon as well as Syria but also worldwide with a large base in the tri-border area in South America where Argentina, Paraguay and Brazil borders meet. Hezballah uses the area for training and attack simulations for operations anywhere in the world. They work with the Iranian IRGC (Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps) which includes a special group, the al-Quds force, which specializes in attacks to attack Israel in general and Jerusalem in particular (al-Quds is the Muslim Arab name for Jerusalem). The faithful execution of any missions such cells may be utilized to commit is often assured through holding family members within Lebanon as persuasion over their actions and trusted loyalty. We know Iran has extensive abilities to strike anywhere within the Americas as we witnessed in two separate bombings in Argentina; the first was the bombing of the Israeli Embassy on March 17, 1992, with the second being the bombing of the Asociación Mutual Israelita Argentina (AMIA) on July 18, 1994, both in Buenos Aires. The IRGC likely cooperating with Hezballah have also attacked American interests such as murdering United States Marines in their barracks in Lebanon as well as assaulting the United States Embassies in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania and Nairobi, Kenya. All of these attacks were either simulated in Lebanon, Iran or the tri-border area before being triggered on their actual targets. Iran also supplies Islamic Jihad and often Hamas and has attempted to make inroads into Fatah and the PLO as they try to encircle Israel. This is information which should be sufficient evidence that the terrorism which starts with Israel will not remain contained in Israel. This lesson has been pressed on Europe as their Islamist infiltration has brought with it terrorism similar in nature as Israel faces. The United States has also been targeted by terrorism including the horrific attacks of 9/11 and numerous others since and before.

The real problem is that there can be no solution to the Arab-Israeli conflict which allows for the continued existence of Israel as the Jewish state. Where many within the European power structure appear to be fine with solutions which would erase the Jewish nature of Israel if it would bring their Islamist problem to a close, it would actually change nothing. Additionally, Israel as the Jewish state is not going anywhere and is back to stay. Further, the United States is linked with Israel though there are signs that this bond may be weakening. The Democrat Party has decided that Israel is expendable while the Republican Party has become the pro-Israel party. This might appear strange as most Jews support the Democrat Party with blind passion. The reality comes down to the fact that the Evangelical Christians support Israel and are an important group for the Republican Party. Completely opposite of what many claim, often vindictively, the United States supports Israel because the Jews control the government when the reality is the largest group in the United States supporting Israel are the Christians. This is not hard to see, as Jews are, at most, a mere two and a half percent of the total population. Israel is once again a political football which will be fumbled by many amongst the Democrat Party only to now be picked up by the Republican Party, a change from the earlier periods of Israel. The United States may find itself more alone in supporting Israel and this could lead to more challenges ahead. There are some who predict that the United States may soon find Israel too much a burden to continue their support and this leads these people to claim that once Israel no longer has American protection they will face an isolation which could spell the end of Israel. They claim that Israel is completely dependent upon American military aid.

The reality is that Israel can survive without the military aid providing Israel takes the steps necessary to become self-sufficient militarily. This would require Israel to begin making their own weaponry including the ammunition. Israel currently uses the .223 ammunition which is consistent with NATO despite Israel not belonging to NATO. The advantage is Israel manufactures this ammunition, as do numerous nations. Israel makes very fine rifles and their Merkava tank is first rate. They are capable in almost every area with two main weaknesses, ships and aircraft. The Israeli Navy is dependent upon Germany for her submarines which are all Dolphin class and depends on European shipyards for their Corvette class ships. Israel might be capable of constructing her own ships and even submarines if pressed as she does much of the outfitting of her ships and adapting the submarines to fit her requirements. The challenge Israel would face would be manufacture of her own aircraft, something Israel should start to consider seriously. Israel is receiving the United States fifth generation fighter F-35 JSF. This is a decent stealth airframe but they are also very expensive. Fortunately, the United States gave Israel financial assistance, something which will become more difficult as the United States debt situation grows, for reasons which historians will be dumbfounded to explain, makes supporting anybody impossible. Israel has sufficient GDP to afford the costs of developing her own aircraft and the additional jobs would be a boost to her economic health providing well paying jobs. Further, Israel could enter into the arms market and if past developments of technology, then any aircraft she produced would very likely be of a quality worthy of competing with that of any other nation and in demand on the world market. The avionics for the export model along with weapons targeting and other systems would be different than those she produced for her own use which is the same as every other nation. Most nations prefer placing their own systems of avionics and weapons rather than depend on other nations systems for such sensitive equipment.

Israel also has to take charge of the entire peace process. This can only be accomplished once Israel is completely self-sufficient militarily and in most other industries as well as food production leaving very little to outside providers. Israel is one of the few, if not the only, nation which could conceivably face a complete embargo from the industrialized world or even the entire world. This would mean that Israel would, and needs to face this soon if not immediately, needs to rely totally on her own production of weapons, food, automobiles and all other products which Israelis could need or simply desire. Finally, many of these items from cell phones to cherry tomatoes to software were invented or developed in Israel. The gaps which Israel faces also includes their not having a domestic vehicle, car or trucks of all sizes, production but for a nation with the capabilities Israel has shown, they will most likely produce a vehicle which runs on air and water. Any nation capable of such inventiveness will pull through despite what challenges the world throws at her. And the peace will only work when the reputed but disputed words of Golda Meir, “Peace will come when the Arabs will love their children more than they hate us.”

What a Difference Media Perception Makes

We would all agree that dead civilians in a war zone are tragic but inevitable. We would all agree that militaries should take all reasonable efforts to minimize the threat and danger to civilians while continuing to strike military assets. Finally, we would probably agree that militaries should also take precautions in their movements and weapons placements and storage of armaments such that they allow for little or no threat of danger to civilians. But should we use different scales when deciding which military forces are taking appropriate efforts as different societies have different standards and place varying importance on the safekeeping of their civilians and about targeting civilians. That last one is a bit trickier and perplexing, right? Let us make it a little easier. Should Israel be judged more harshly for dead Palestinian Arabs when fighting Hamas attacks in a conflict with Gaza than the United States should be judged for dead Iraqi and Syrian Arabs in their fighting the Islamic State (ISIS)? Reading reports in the mainstream media one would believe that the Israelis intentionally target Arab civilians in Gaza while the United States has avoided civilian deaths in Iraq and Syria attacks. This is possibly because the mainstream media supports targeting Israel and attempting to display the IDF and Israeli efforts as immoral and lacking in any precautions against killing civilians while President Obama ordered strikes in Syria and Iraq had to be above all suspicions, completely moral and resulting in minimal civilian deaths. In a Reuters report“At least 352 civilians have been killed in U.S.-led strikes against Islamic State targets in Iraq and Syria since the operation began in 2014, the U.S. military said in a statement on Sunday.” That is correct, three-hundred-fifty-two civilians killed in United States led strikes since 2014, which makes for an average of approximately one-hundred per year or approaching ten per month. In another statement released and used by Reuters with photo credited as “AP Photo/Felipe Dana, File” showing residents carry the body of several people killed in airstrikes during fighting between Iraq security forces and Islamic State on the western side of Mosul, Iraq, statement released Sunday, April 30, 2017, the Pentagon said investigations conducted during the month of March reveal that coalition airstrikes killed 45 civilians, mostly in and around the city of Mosul. The Pentagon added that in each incident “all feasible precautions were taken,” but the strikes still resulted in “unintentional” loss of civilian life. There have been no explosions of editorials demanding explanations from the United States military or government demanding they make reparations or prove they had taken sufficient measures to prevent civilian deaths. There have been no calls for the United States to be brought before The Hague to answer charges for War Crimes and Crimes Against Humanity. How can this be and where are the Human Rights groups with highly inflated or differing numbers or an official United Nations count that also would likely disagree with the official Pentagon numbers claiming multiple numbers were in fact killed. Do not expect there to be any such events being committed against the United States. There also have been no reporters confronting American officers in headquarters or in the field demanding to know why so many Iraqi and Syrian Arabs have died and no Americans have died. Simply, you probably did not even know of these deaths until reading this article. Now comes the time to wonder why.

Let us return to the seven weeks from July 8, 2014 through August 26, 2014 and the Israel Hamas (Gaza) War. The numbers of civilian casualties released about this conflict varied greatly depending whose numbers you wish to believe. Here are the particulars; the Gaza Health Ministry reported 1,617 Palestinian civilians killed with 10,626 Palestinian militants and civilians wounded; the United Nations Human Rights Council reported 1,462 Palestinian civilians killed; Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported 761 Palestinian civilians with 428 uncategorized males aged 16-50 killed as well as at least 23 Gazans executed by Hamas. The Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs also reported that there were 5 Israeli civilians dead (3 killed directly by rocket fire, 2 died of heart attacks after hearing warning sirens), 1 Thai civilian in Israel killed and 87 Israeli civilians wounded. Granted, no matter whose numbers one uses, the number of Israelis affected pales in comparison and this was the number one question the mainstream media asked incessantly for an explanation. This had nothing to do with their lack of knowledge as to the answer, it had everything to do with painting Israel as a monster who worries about their own people but have no regard for the Arabs residing in Gaza. Many reporters acted as if Israel was directly responsible for the protection and care for the people in Gaza as if they were Israeli citizens. Almost none of them displayed any knowledge that starting in August 2005 and completed on September 9, 2005 Israel removed every Israeli, razed everything with the exception of the Greenhouses left for Gazans to use to produce crops and the synagogues as to have bulldozed them would have been a desecration and the IDF removed their last personnel. Those Synagogues were desecrated far worse in the ensuing days by the Arab Palestinians and the greenhouses were stripped bare and used to make weapons and rocket launchers, not grow crops. Hamas took control of Gaza in a coup lasting June 10 through 15 of 2007 and immediately reissued their declaration of intent to destroy Israel and kill every Jew on the Earth. All this history was ignored and the disparity in civilian deaths was the sole news worth reporting. Why was this, one might query.

Well, it was all about what one reporter blurted out in her moment of excitement and whose interview has been scrubbed from history, or at least the internet, where she actually asked, “Where are the dead Jews, I mean, why so many dead in Gaza and none in Israel?” Well, why not simply answer that very question. Despite the vast majority of Hamas rocket and artillery strikes targeting civilian structures to include largely schools, kindergartens, pre-schools, day care facilities, and residential neighborhoods, Israel was fortunate to have been protected by the Iron Dome Batteries which are one of the finest anti-rocket and projectile interceptors the world has ever seen. The Iron Dome determines the projected strike point of any rocket, artillery or mortar fired and if it will be close to any civilian or military built up areas it launches its interceptors, which has over ninety-percent efficiency in taking out its target. There was one major failure of the Iron Dome systems where three interceptors were fired at one of the Hamas larger rockets and all missed. This rocket was headed for the center of Tel Aviv and would have been catastrophic. The easy explanation was a huge puff of wind blew it out into the Mediterranean Sea in the last few seconds, or there is the description and entire story as told by the Iron Dome Battery in question of this incident commanding officer as we reported back when this happened in our article ”How to Fight Terrorist Fanatics Unless You’re Israel”. The reason so few Israelis died is because Israel has built shelters everywhere and requires all new residential structures to have a built in shelter in every apartment, home, row house, etc. as part of the building codes and when the sirens sound in any area the Israelis will drop whatever they are doing and head directly to their closest shelter. If an Israeli is out and does not know where the closest shelter is on their own, they are easy to find, just follow everyone else. Hamas, on the other hand, uses their civilians to protect their rockets and the launchers and often will call in women and children and place them on the roof of any building they wish to protect knowing the Israelis will not bomb such a target. Israeli pilots are required to call headquarters and get clearance before dropping ordinance and there are officers using drones to oversee most missions who will check the target before allowing ordinance release.

There were other completely ridiculous question asked by reporters during the Gaza War and here are a few samples. “Why does Israel not provide Iron Dome Systems to the Gazans?” and “Why has Israel refused to build bomb shelters in Gaza?” As we mentioned, apparently the reporters were not informed that Gaza, is for all technicalities, an independent country and Israel has surrendered all connections and ties to Gaza. The one Israeli connection with Gaza is the blockade, which is more of an inspection for incoming goods to assure that there are no weapons or military useable goods such as weapons grade steel, explosives or other dual-purpose items that could be used in a military means. Israel permitted tons of cement and rebar into Gaza for the reason of humanitarian aid to permit the rebuilding of the homes damaged in the wars. Well over three-fourths of these goods were utilized to build the Hamas tunnel and bunker system underneath Gaza and tunnels into Israel itself. These bunkers are also used to protect the Hamas and Islamic Jihad terrorist fighters but the Gazan civilians would be shot if they entered these bunkers as Hamas and the other terror groups desire maximum civilian casualties which they utilize in the media to paint Israel as a monster while pretending they are too poor because of the blockade to provide protection. What probably would surprise many to know is that Israel continued the daily transfer of aid into Gaza of food, medical supplies and other non-military aid in the tons of material per day. Below is a video of one such transference and here is an article giving the Israeli side and the proof of Israeli assistance to Gazan civilians including setting up a field hospital to treat injured individuals from Gaza. This was one fact which one would have thought might have attracted at least the slightest of curiosity with Israel sending tractor-trailer trucks by the dozens across into Gaza in the midst of a war and perhaps some wonder at how this could happen and not be shot at by Hamas. Well, here is a surprise, Hamas and Islamic Jihad would on some days target the aid deliveries and once it was of such a severe nature that Israel was forced to skip one day’s shipments, as the risk was too great. Additional aid was sent across the next day to make up for the loss of daily aid. What was truly amazing was the fuel was included in these shipments despite that Hamas could fuel their vehicles, as the fuel was also necessary to produce electricity. Even the electricity aided Hamas and the other terror groups but to deny Gaza electricity would have placed a greater burden on the people. Israel also continued to deliver electricity through the shared electrical grid and provided water, clean water, through the interconnected water system. Everything Israel had been providing to the people of Gaza before the war continued to be delivered as best as possible throughout the war and continued after the war. The reports of Israel starving Gazan or refusing them medical treatment are all propaganda spread by Hamas, Islamic Jihad and the anti-Israel mainstream media. They all know that they are repeating or stating lies but as long as there are those who choose to believe anything they are told that Jews are acting with malice and committed to evil deeds, then the terrorists, Arab sources and far too many in the mainstream media will all continue to feed these people grist for the mill.

People often ask what Israel could do to prevent these misfortunes from befalling the people of Gaza. The unfortunate answer is that Israel is already doing as much as she can to relieve any suffering by the Gazans. One difficulty is that Hamas will regularly refuse to permit Gazans from seeking additional and often-necessary medical treatment in Israel as that can be used to claim that Israel refuses to provide medical aid. The truth is when Hamas and other terror leaders’ families require advanced medical treatment, guess where they are treated? The answer can be found here, here, here, here, here and one possibly repeat here. Israel is not the monster reported all too often in the news. Israel cares deeply about her own people but also is concerned for the well-being of those who are her sworn enemies. This confuses many in the media so they simply paint a picture they can be happy with, not that the truth would accept. The aid sent during the war is likely one of the most positive proofs that Israel is anything but what is too often reported, sometimes in Israeli mainstream news as well. The truth is worth digging for even if one had to suffer through some news slanted in the other direction, sometimes getting a variety of views helps clear the vision. The diametric opposite treatments of Israel compared to the news about the United States and civilian casualties is striking. We do not mean to impugn the United States in any way as they too make the most honest of efforts to avoid civilian casualties.

Is Healthcare a Right, and If So, What Else Could be a Right?

President Obama this past week once again in his stump speech referred to healthcare as a right in any advanced industrial nation. President Obama was making the argument that all the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act was accomplishing would be to usher the United States into the elite group of advanced industrial nations as finally healthcare would be guaranteed for every citizen by the Federal Government. President Obama has often spoken of his healthcare plan as affording Americans another right which should have been among those guaranteed from the outset as the United States strove to be among the most forward nations. This was also part of President Obama’s criticism of the United States Constitution as it being an improper document because it listed restrictions on what the Federal Government was permitted to do instead of listing those things which the Federal Government had to do, particularly those things the Federal Government was required to provide for the people as justification for its existence. The problem with this line of reasoning is that it steals from the people their dignity, self-worth and responsibilities replacing the latter with so-called rights.

The difference between responsibility and rights is very basic and, once understood, quite frightening. Responsibilities are those items which the individual is tasked with providing for themselves and where government is restricted from imposing limitations or obstructions between the people and fulfilling their responsibility to whatever extent they desire. A right is something the government provides and defines exactly what makes up each right, even to the point of denying government’s responsibility, or even forbidding the individual’s right to provide for themselves forcing them to be subservient to government and within those restriction put in place by the government. Obviously, when healthcare is classified as a personal responsibility then each individual is free to provide for themselves and their family as much healthcare as they decide. Often when something is treated as a personal responsibility, the argument goes, there will be those individuals unable to provide for themselves or their family and that is why the government must step up and make it a right so they can receive it from the government. The truth is that without government interference there would be charities which would assist people in need, relatives who would assist in the care of their more needy relatives, and many hospitals, especially those run by religious organizations such as the Catholic Healthcare Systems which provide care at a reasonable cost proportional to a person’s ability to pay while still providing the very best of care. When government supersedes charitable organizations and generosity of the religiously run hospitals and insists on imposing their oversight the level of care is degraded while the cost and time invested in simply documenting and performing to the relevant compliance level the government demands is wasted time which could have otherwise been utilized to treat more patents. When the government replaces the individual’s right to provide for those things which are their responsibility and instead insists that government can accomplish the same level if not a higher level of care than the individual, it will inevitable prove false and result in degraded levels of care across the board with some levels resulting in refusal of care as it would not prove cost effective on the whole to provide everybody with every conceivable level and intensity of care.

But let us simply agree that healthcare should be treated as a right which The Federal Government is required to provide, even though all the government will be providing is health insurance coverage initially, what other items in our lives could just as easily be reclassified as rights instead of being our personal responsibility. The people will have been relegated to a judgment of being incapable of deciding or procuring a level of care sufficient to provide them with a decent quality of life.  If we are to believe the argument that healthcare is so important to the individual’s quality of life that it must be attended to by the government in order to guarantee that they receive a minimal level of care adequate to meet government set standards then what else would also meet such standards? It very easily could be argued, especially with the obesity levels in the United States, that food must be regulated and the decisions made by those qualified to make proper nutritional decisions. President Obama could appoint his wife Michelle to be the Nutritional Health Czar heading a new Cabinet level agency responsible for providing every individual with the appropriate calories, nutrients, carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins, minerals and everything else tailored to match their lifestyle and individual requirements. The health benefits of such a system would more than pay for themselves is lower demand upon the government provided healthcare. People could be placed on special diets as recommended by physicians who could work closely with the U.  S. Department of Nutrition and Dietary Health. Every argument given for the need for the government to provide for the people’s healthcare also apply to dietary care and food delivery.

Another necessity which in some ways has already attempted to be provided by the Federal Government with varied amounts of epic failure is housing. Despite the absolute disaster that came along with Federal Housing projects, the arguments remain that people require shelter if they are to maintain a level of healthy living and comfort for which the government could easily set as a standard. Furthermore, housing would also be of immeasurable assistance when the government provided the government chosen, prepared and delivered food for each person’s daily consumption. A person must also have a certain level of shelter from the elements of nature in order to maintain the degree of health desired for each citizen by the government. Then there is a personal need for clothing which is fitting for the season, meets the requirements of their occupation, and has a sufficient level of style to impart at a minimum a modicum of pride and self-respect. To be honest there are very likely solid arguments which can be made for the government to assure almost anything or everything in life meets a minimal level for each individual and consider it a right. But by doing so it would remove every ounce of freedom and personal choice. To put it as simply as possible; individual responsibility produces freedom and independence while group rights produces dependence and enslavement. It comes down to which you would prefer to be, a ward of the government or an individual free to make their own life choices. Be careful what you choose as once you surrender your responsibilities over to the government and expect them to be treated as rights they actually become privileges which the government could just as easily take away as they initially claimed they were capable of providing. So, choose either responsibility for one’s self or surrender to the whims and edicts of what will soon become an out of control government. History has proven this as republics devolved into democracies which inevitably lead to fascist oppressions and enslavement to the state.
