Israeli Settlements a False Issue

Concentrating on half-a-million Jews and ignoring a situation of ten times the numbers which are the five-million refugees presumably all from 1948, with just a smattering from 1967, forced within Israel proper to force Israel to become an Arab state, the twenty-third Arab State, and removing the sole Jewish State conceals the reality of the situation, that the Arabs are insisting not on their own state but to have both states to become Arab states with the names of Palestine and al-Israelabi. But the reasoning behind the concern all about the “Jewish problem” while ignoring the facts that the Arabs are demanding the death of Israel, demanding to be permitted to swamp the only Jewish State with sufficient Arabs “refugees” who have never for one second been within Israeli borders, demanding the Jews accept any deal as temporary until the next temporary deal, and demanding the world assist in murdering the six-million plus Jews residing in Israel by refusing them exit when the Arabs takeover is simply because the Israelis are civilized and will talk and are willing to resolve problems in a civilized manner while the Arabs are living under a seventh century code of accept surrender and then plunder, ravage, pillage and murder the former inhabitants or change the order around and put murder the former inhabitants ahead of accept surrender and then plunder, ravage, pillage and murder the remainder of former inhabitants. Meanwhile Europe and the United States and the remainder of Western Civilization is hoping against hope that the Arabs will be sated for a period of time with having Israel sacrificed for a momentary peace except that has absolutely no possibility of working, and here is why.

The world needs to wake to the nightmare that is facing them. The leftists in order to rid the world of those they find distasteful from those amongst them, the ones insisting on preserving the Judeo-Christian value system, are siding with a primeval force which is tribal and fiercely demanding of those it rules that they surrender completely and totally to their societal structure which leads to destroying all else and making it all a part of their Islamic society. The difficulty with accepting such a deal will not satisfy these Islamists because their definition of Islam does not accept the convert as having made the choice freely thus not being of a pure Islamic soul and therefore they will be amongst the first sacrificed for the purity of Islam. A warning to the half a billion Muslims who think they are following Islam correctly, you have made one horrific choice as only a Sunni or Shiite can be a true and good Muslim, whichever ends up with the largest camp of believers once the world has been subjugated and all other beliefs have been eradicated. Once the entirety of Islam has been whittled to the pure Sunni or Shiite state, we will simply refer to this as Islam as it matters little which one becomes the prevalent and thus the only form of Islam practiced because this does not end the purification as there will then be those Muslims who are slightly different than the rest of the followers of Islam so they must be impure. This purification could continue until, as in Highlander, there will be only one, and we do mean only one, and thus the end of Islam, Human kind and finally a real intelligent life-form can develop and hopefully make a whole new and different set of mistakes as the most intelligent species on the planet.

That problem of an uncivilized force living within a civil society played out again on the streets of Israel yesterday. As of this writing an infant who suffered horrific wounds including the near loss of one of its tiny legs had gone into emergency surgery at Ein Kerem Hospital with the hopes of saving the one and a half year old’s leg through microsurgical techniques and also saving the infant’s life. Dr. Ofer Merin, head of the trauma unit at Shaare Tzedek Hospital, said “the infant aged around a year-and-a-half has a serious wound to his leg. We decided to transfer him to Hadassah Ein Kerem to save his leg in an attempt at micro-surgery treatment.” The attack which caused this dire and tragic situation was the result of yet another assault on a crowded sidewalk in Jerusalem by ramming into the crowd with a vehicle. The attack might have turned out for the worse had the vehicle not struck a fire hydrant bringing it to a stop. After ramming and destroying the hydrant, the driver emerged from the vehicle armed with a hand axe and started moving towards the injured with the obvious intent to finish off as many of the injured who could not run from him and then probably slashing at whomever they were capable of striking. Fortunately, when the driver, a twenty-one-year-old Arab terrorist from Jerusalem’s Beit Hanina neighborhood, emerged still intent on even more carnage that bystanders ended his rampage of carnage dispatching the terrorist with a few shots eliminating any further realizations of this terrorist and potentially still qualifying as a murderous intent almost qualifying as human. Below is a video of the scene soon after the incident had been dramatically brought to a close and the treatment started. There were fourteen people injured with an older woman in her sixties and the young infant the most serious amongst those injured which does include the infant’s mother being treated at the same hospital as her child, Ein Kerem Hospital. More images can be seen on an article covering the initial assault on Arutz Sheva.

Additionally, yesterday three people received light wounds from a rock attack on their vehicle. As they related, their vehicle was assaulted by a barrage of various sized rocks as they were ambushed by a number of youths hurling rocks including some of considerable size one of which penetrated the vehicle window and is pictured below. The three injured individuals received treatment from Magen David Adom (MDA) medical teams and were taken to hospital for additional treatment. Such attacks have become a daily event with numerous such attacks each day. As many Israeli drivers whose travel takes them into areas both within and outside the Green Line where such attacks regularly occur have had the windows of their vehicles replaced with tougher and more resilient and impervious to rock attacks installed and thus have escaped such attacks with minor dents to their vehicles but with the passengers unhurt and capable of taking such attacks more in stride. This does not lessen the severity of the problem but has played to make such attacks not as newsworthy despite there not being any decrease in the number of vehicles under such attacks daily. The only such attacks which are reported are thus those with injuries of sufficient severity as to require a visit and treatment at a hospital; as if the first responders at such an attack are capable of treating people at the scene and their not requiring transport to a hospital, that by the time a reporter and cameraman can appear on the scene of a rock attack the only thing left to see is the police report which even that would require a request for information as even that report has been filed by the police. It is a sad commentary to be capable of saying such attacks which would be considered front page newsworthy in Paris or New York, London or Los Angeles, Berlin or Chicago, the Hague or Boston or even Brussels or Washington D.C. does not make the news cycle even if it were to take place in Jerusalem or Tel Aviv as without a picture there are not the thousand words to replace such and thus the story remains untold. What the world must remember that the attacks on Israelis, be they rock assaults on Israeli vehicles on her roadways, knifings with anything from a kitchen knife to a screwdriver or even including hand axes or rammings with a vehicle where the vehicle is towed away and the people treated on scene, again, no dramatic video and accompanying pictures, then no article and it is dismissed as just another such assault. The positive is by giving such attacks virtually no coverage or mention in the news beyond a blurb before going to commercial, almost a filler if necessary, just does not give the terrorist any “fame” or credit, so to speak, and thus makes the entire idea of such an attack less appealing or glamorous, and the perpetrator being eliminated without being referred to except by the most general of terms, no glamour, no fame, not even any decent notice and possibly thus no virgins in Muslim paradise, what could be worse.

Rock Which Pierced Windshield of Victims Car Injuring Three

Rock Which Pierced Windshield of Victims Car Injuring Three

Still, if anyone from the White House or State Department wishes to be front page news, all they need do is one more time condemn Israel for building homes for Jews on land which is liberated Israeli lands taken in an offensive war in 1948-9 by the seven Arab nation’s armies in an attempt to drive the Jews into the sea and annihilate them. The so-called “West Bank” is actually Judea and Samaria which were part of Israel on the morning of May 15, 1948 and the evening before when David ben Gurion pronounce Israeli independence from British rule ending the British Mandate and the next morning seven national armies swarmed over Israeli borders intent on murdering every soul they met, Arab or Israeli. The Mufti of Jerusalem, though during World War II he could have more easily been declared the Mufti of Berlin, has instructed all the Arabs living within Israel to leave and get behind the front lines of the assailing and soon to be tasting victory Arab armies. The imminent slaughter of everybody within Israel did not quite come about as planned as something unheard of until that fateful day, which means very simply, the Jews fought back and did not just wait to be slaughtered as had been the case in Europe. A new day was coming.

Next time you hear somebody claim it is the Jews and the settlements which are to blame for there being no peace settlement; please correct their uninformed opinion with some reality. The Arabs could have had half of all the land but they would not settle for anything less than all of the lands and the better half at that. While Jordan held the “West Bank” they could have had their state but they formed the PLO in order to use terrorism to take all the lands. Anytime since the 1967 Six Day War Israel would have traded the “West Bank” all of Judea and Samaria back to Jordan for peace. When Jordan, after Sadat and Egypt boldly went where no Arab had gone before and made peace with the Jewish State (he paid for this brave and fateful move with his life as members of a reviewing troop broke ranks and assaulted the stands and slaughtered him for making peace) Jordan made peace and forfeited Judea and Samaria which Jordan had occupied since 1948-9 up until the lands were liberated in the Six Day War. A few years later the Jordanian monarch bent to pressures from the Muslim Brotherhood and the eighty percent of Jordanian population which also call themselves Palestinians, and forfeited the Jordanian claim (the same claim forfeited to Israel at the peace talks) to the PLO such that their struggle would now be treated as a struggle for their homelands and not just wanton terrorism when they murdered families having lunch at Sbarro Pizza Parlor or a Passover Seder for Holocaust Survivors and their families in the Park Hotel in Netanya, a northern suburb of Tel Aviv which were both blown to pieces by bombs in terror attacks which are taught in Palestinian Authority (PA) and Hamas schools as brave acts of martyrs to be honored and emulated. Please read these last links as they will open a new vision into these acts and their places in the two different societies, one barbarous in nature the other the civilized one who is blamed as that is the safer target.

When you hear anybody claim that Israel is the impediment to peace, please tell them we would give back the presumed desired lands except the Arabs want all of the lands and have refused numerous offers including one granted only because President Clinton claimed that Yasser Arafat had agreed to the terms thus Ehud Barak agreed to those same exact terms and Arafat stalked from the next morning’s meeting rejecting the very offer he made the night before without even a counter and within six weeks began the second intifada which claimed over a thousand Israeli lives and is what led to the construction of the wall and fence which ended the stream of suicide bombings as it took going through a checkpoint to enter Israel thus no more bombings. Ever since that went into effect the PA has pressed the United States Presidents to demand Israel open the passage into Israel and remove the racist checkpoints as they are demeaning. I have to go through a checkpoint to take a train, a checkpoint to enter a mall, a checkpoint to watch the Purim Parade in my town, a checkpoint to listen to candidates speak, a checkpoint to enter the municipal building to pay my water bill, a checkpoint to enter the post office where many other transactions other than packages and stamps take place, a checkpoint to enter the department store downtown and a checkpoint to visit my father in the hotel when he visits. Israelis have to go through checkpoints because of Palestinian terror attacks because one can never be too careful. Just to put this into perspective, with the entirety of Israeli public on alert and all who are licensed for weapons carry taking their firearm with them as added safety for all; the totals for the past three Jewish calendar months, that is exactly one-hundred-eighty days (three thirty-day months) are twenty-two dead, two-hundred-fifty-two injured which does not count for the numbers of people suffering from rock assaults whose cars were damaged but the passengers were unharmed and often these are unreported, and unsuccessful stabbing attacks where the terrorist was unsuccessful and upon meeting determined or armed opposition fled and thus going unreported, yet in each such case there is still the mental strains and stresses unimaginable by those never facing combat or similar situations and may they continue to be spared such horrors.

Tell them that just because the media does not cover the terror and violence launched and perpetrated upon Israelis, all Israelis including Arabs, Muslims, Christians, Bahá’í, Buddhists and of course Jews has not abated, it has simply returned to the whatever is the latest ‘norm,’ that is all. Currently that is as many as three stabbings per day, up to three cars used as an assault vehicle rammed into bus stops and other such gathering places, as many as seven rockets out of Gaza each month, and various other inconveniences perpetrated on Israelis dressed too Jewish such as spitting, slamming shoulder as passing, curses, tripping and other insults and degradations as what would be considered a major incident if it were to happen to a Muslim in almost any European or other western nation and the entire world would cease rotating until the dog who perpetrated such an insult was brought to shame, such being perpetrated on predominately Jews in Israel (or most of the rest of the world) is nothing to get excited about as it is no big deal. The only reason the last Gaza War did not produce thousands of dead Israelis was the Iran Dome and its over ninety percent interception rate. Even then there would have been thousands potentially killed in one single attack except for the hand of Hashem, praised be, as the Iron dome had missed three times and it was a puff of the wind between total calms which pushed the rocket into the sea instead of striking the central business center of Tel Aviv where likely thousands would have died and at least one if not as many as five towering skyscrapers could have been felled causing untold carnage. Read about this miracle here. Israel is not an impediment to peace and had been an impediment to an outright military attack by Islam on Europe, but that is no longer a worry as Europe invited the invasion in upon itself and that is beyond Israeli abilities as wonderful as they are. One cannot save those not wishing to be saved, but at least let those who choose sanity to retain that sanity and do not impose your insanity upon them. If Europe desires fifty-million Islamic “refugees,” we will not prevent them taking all that they desire; we just desire to miss out on that deal which only leaves more for Europe to take, a mere drop in the bucket as the tap in Europe for Islamic immigration unchecked and without any restrictions, just walk right in. May they tread lightly upon your culture.

Orange and France Insult Israel Thinking They Cannot Lose

The Orange, a French Company providing Mobile Phone and other data access systems, has some explaining to do after the Orange CEO Stephane Richard haughtily, brazenly and with great chutzpah postulated, “We want to terminate this and to fix this, we don’t want it. In the existing contract, it gives us the option to terminate this without exposing this to a huge financial risk. If you were the CEO of this company you would act the same.” One might understand their concern as the company had been receiving threats to their business from people in the BDS (Boycott, Divestment and Sanction Israel Movement) agitators in Egypt who were also attempting to drive people in Egypt to switch from Orange to another carrier until Orange capitulated. This campaign was likely moved largely forward by the well-organized but mostly ignored BDS groups in Europe who are fairly good at getting the media to cover their loud and infantile rantings as the media will run and inflate any anti-Israel, anti-Zionist or obliquely anti-Semitic political movement which pretty much is made up of the BDS movement, the Israel Apartheid movement, the pro-Palestinian hate Israel fests held annually on many university and college campuses and similar lesser items. Other than media coverage these groups are little more than a nuisance though they can get some of the people riled up and even changing their cell carrier company but it is most likely that after a week or two the entire boycott Orange threat would have simply dissipated like a spring shower which makes all the fury and noise of a thunderstorm but the end result is a light rain. Orange CEO Stephane Richard obviously got all worried and believing that he was about to lose his entire enrollment of customers in Egypt because of a flood of phone calls largely made by young agitators with more time on their hands than brains or influence making everything look far more dire than they were in actuality. It would not be surprising if the majority of the calls made claiming they were going to switch carriers for their cellphone service were not even made by people who have Orange as their carrier. If these BDS agitators were using actual Orange served cellphones, my bet is many of these BDS threats did not result in any cancellations and some might even have come from cellphones which you buy that have a fixed number of minutes and then are useless except for buying more time and these phones had used Orange. Well, such users as these are not actual cancellations, just calls made on a phone purchased using Orange simply to make their point and by using this method actually gave Orange an increased usership over this time and were not actually a threat.

It can be understood that losing any large number of Egyptian users of Orange plans would be a threat which could hurt Orange should it come to fruition. The one item that may have been left out of this attempted and thus far successful BDS threat is that the Egyptian customers are on contracts and cannot just change carriers like they might change shoes, there is a contract which leaves them obligated for an expressed time period. When their renewal time comes around is the time when changing carriers is easy and by then their threat to change companies will probably have dimmed to almost the last flicker of a sparkler and would pose more trouble than it would be worth just to make a political statement, and they would think they had called and made the threat to change and that would have to suffice. Any Egyptians who were driven so far as to drop their Orange coverage mid-contract are now facing the fact that they had a contract and Orange will remain being paid until that contract expires, a real problem if they had already signed with another company as they will be paying for two cellphone service providers for some time. The people who Orange was going to lose in Egypt have already made whatever moves they were planning and have left Orange. Any further damage would be minimal if the experience of other BDS targeted service providers in other markets. The number of people who will call a number and threaten to drop service from Orange that actually have Orange service and will actually follow through would have turned out to be minimal. Now that Orange CEO Stephane Richard has made an international incident out of what was likely no more than a ploy to get media coverage and look big hoping to get just that reaction from somebody high enough in Orange that the media coverage would now be front page across Europe, the Middle East and beyond has been realized. Orange CEO Stephane Richard has given the BDS movement legitimacy beyond their wildest dreams and caused a headache for their home nation of France. Orange executives could not have made a bigger mistake had they tried. Now you will lose your franchise in Israel while probably driving customers to your former partner and thus giving your competitors a boost, especially whomever the now free franchise in Israel plus this may ripple beyond Israel and have numerous pro-Israel customers leave Orange service quietly and without much fanfare over the next year. The only actual accomplishment here is that by their actions, Orange has empowered these BDS agitators who will now go after company after company by having their service users threaten to cancel and drop them from their service core using Arab nationals to make the threats hoping to force these companies into kowtowing to their blackmail. Think of what will be the eventual result once the BDS groups have targeted every cellphone service provider in Egypt in succession, one after another, until they have gone through the entire gamut of providers. That’s correct, the only one who will lose customers of any significance will be the last company they threaten as the Egyptians will have to get their cellphone service from somewhere and the BDS agitators are now perched to use Egypt to threaten every other provider. If they all react as Orange has then Israeli providers may as well come together and form one centralized mega-provider and perhaps start their own international cellphone provider based out of Israel and advertising to be the provider that will not fall before the paltry antics of a number of well-paid organizers and the people who succumb to such demagoguery but simply a cell phone service provider who is dedicated to serving you. In the end Orange may have done Israel a favor as once we have a competitor in every Orange covered nation outside the Arab Middle East I bet this competition will be the greater challenge to the Orange bottom line.

There will be an object lesson which may very well come from this episode, namely that running like a scared school girl from the BDS bogeyman will cause Orange greater harm in the long haul than standing their ground. Perhaps every Israeli application designer should figure out a way to make their apps unusable on Orange provided users phones which will eventually mean that there will be a plethora of popular apps which will be beyond Orange customers’ ability to use and eventually such a threat will bury Orange far faster than an Egyptian boycott which would probably have been minimal in the long run and simply a ton of sound and fury signifying little to nothing, just some grandstanding and now given some curtain calls on the stage upon which we all play. The BDS agitators and organizers are paid to attempt to make a big splash and have companies and organizations make sympathetic statements of support and that is about it but Orange gave them an actual victory, a move that may prove very damaging for Orange over the long haul and will give the BDS agitators some impetus for a while which will dissipate as other companies who are similarly threatened actually stand up to the bullies. The end lesson here will most likely be that Orange will see a sea change as people demand that their affiliates such as their former partner, Partner Communications, groups in Israel will seek greener pastures where their business will be beyond the effects from agitators as Orange has now shown weakness which is rarely a good business model. Orange has proven they can be scared by even the slightest challenge which says very little favorably about the upper management. Now that this ridiculous episode has spilled over exactly where the BDS agitators desired it to go, between the governments of France and Israel, Orange may find that the French government will be displeased with the difficulties which the actions by Orange has brought to their door, and it can never be a good thing to aggravate the government in your home base.

Now will start the questions for Prime Minister Netanyahu and his newly formed coalition as to what actions they will take resultant to this disgrace. Israel has been besmirched not only by a French wine drinking, truffle hunting, cheese eating, surrender monkeys whose weapons business advertisements are for lightly used rifles, never been fired but dropped once. Actually France is a lovely nation with some very wonderful sights and interesting places to visit including Tours where Charles Martel was given the moniker, Martellus (“The Hammer”), which has survived along with his great feat leading French troops against the invading Moors blunting their advance and rescuing the rest of France from great harm as the Moors had been sacking each city they defeated including Bordeaux. Charles the Hammer Martel will live forever which nobody remembers the ruler of Bordeaux except to recall Charles Martel coming to the rescue of France and savior of Europe. Now is a time to demand that France live up to their hero who changed the path of history by turning back the Moors at the Battle of Tours.

Some may inquire why bring the French government into this minor tussle with Orange. That is an easy question to strike the central reason on why France needs to answer for this slight, the French government owns a sizeable percentage of Orange and they receive benefits from the French government as such. When a government gets in bed with companies and supports these companies they become subject to the decisions and political moves which may require their intervention if only to protect the image of France. The Israeli government initially made a request for the French government to at least minimally rebuke this decision by Orange and seek to have them overturn their cowardly action. The French ignored or refused the polite request so Prime Minister Netanyahu and Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked reacted angrily demanding an apology from the French government as CEO Stephane Richard had further backed his comments claiming that Orange will “make very little money” from their Israel franchise and that the sole reason they might not pull from the franchise was, “Sorry to say, but a dispute with Partner (Communications) when you have zero legal position in Israeli courts is not something that I would recommend for my company. I am not going to pay hundreds of millions of euros only because I would have (to) take a risk, a huge risk, in terms of the penalties that we could have if we entered into this kind of brutal process.” So, let see if we have this correct, Orange would desire nothing more than to terminate their agreement with an Israeli firm, Partner Communications, but will not do so as it might be costly. But when the whiny little agitators realized that you were easily influenced by their threats and had paid them tribute in word and not deed they turned back and demanded you go all the way and end your relations with Israel and you complied quickly and quietly. I don’t think you are going to get away with such perfidy silently sneaking like a thief in the night. Prime Minister Netanyahu made an official request with the French government demanding, “I call on the French government to publicly repudiate the miserable statement and miserable action by a company that is under its partial ownership. At the same time, I call on our friends to unconditionally declare – in a loud and clear voice – that they oppose any kind of boycott of the state of the Jews.”

What caused this confrontation with Orange initially, the very starting point? Well, the BDS agitators found out that Partner Communications, a subsidiary purchaser of its cell service time from Orange, provided IDF soldiers cellphones to use while they were on duty during the Gaza confrontation last summer responding to Hamas have kidnapped and murdered three teens and followed this up with raining upwards of a hundred rockets a day into Israel including reaching Tal Aviv, Ashdod, Ashkelon, Sderot, and other cities threatening every Israeli and causing very much turmoil and economic damages as people were forced to respond daily to numerous Code Red alert sirens where they are advised, some might say obliged, to take shelter until the all-clear is sounded. That was not even a program which had anything to do with Orange and their CEO could have addressed this entire spiraling insanity by simply pointing out that Orange sells cell coverage to Partner Communications and is not responsible or even capable of dictating business decisions to their subsidiary service provider as they are an independent company with whom Orange has a contract which requires us to provide services. Orange cannot be held to ransom for the business decisions of an otherwise unconnected company beyond having purchased coverage from Orange which, as it has already been purchased, is not something Orange is capable of cutting as such would be a breach of contract and would hurt Orange and not Partner Communications which is the company which made the business decision to which you refer. Orange appreciates our customers in Egypt but is unable to break our contract for providing services to Partner Communications as to do so would make a statement that Orange does not honor contract obligations if politically challenged over what a subscriber has decided was a good business model for their company. Orange is no more responsible for Partner Communications’ actions than it is for any Orange cellphone users actions. This is attuned to threatening to sue Orange because the driver of the car that struck you in an accident was talking on their Orange service provided cellphone. We sympathize but suggest you take up your concerns and threats of BDS with Partner Communications. Was that so hard to figure out or are the top brass at Orange not as smart as a mere editorialist? If so it does not speak well for their management and when something does not speak well for a cellphone service provider, that might be a bad signal of their future as speaking well is their business model, not just a management responsibility.

The differences between Hamas and Fatah have been well documented and their 2007 open warfare for the control of Gaza was simply the Super Bowl which had one merciful fact, it lasted just under one week from June 10 to June 15, 2007. The official casualty count was one-hundred-twenty Palestinian combatants and thirty-nine Palestinian civilians and two UN personnel. This was the most famous and heavily reported violence between Palestinian factions though there have been numerous breakouts of violence between different family groups, crime entities, competing terrorist groups and sometimes even violence between individuals. Most of the violence has been ignored by most of the world’s media as reporting on violent disagreements between separate Palestinians would detract from their normally presented angelic image usually used to paint the darlings of the mainstream leftist media. If Israelis had problems anywhere near the level of the animosities often overlooked between Hamas and Fatah it would lead every newscast and top every newspaper in the world. Unfortunately for the mainstream media the animosity between Hamas and Fatah and the charges Hamas levels against the Palestinian Authority and Mahmoud Abbas has been such that it has demanded coverage from time to time. Just to give an idea of the extent that differences and threats between even Hamas and Fatah and the President of the Palestinian Authority just this past week Mahmoud al-Zahar, an ranking officer with Hamas, leveled challenges to the rule of Mahmoud Abbas calling his continued rule as illegitimate as he has not stood for election and thus Abbas’s term as “president” expired years ago. He further accused Abbas of “treachery” for allowing for security coordination and cooperation with the IDF (Israel Defense Forces). Zahar also equated Abbas’s name as an “embarrassment” to every Palestinian. Zahar also addressed the charge that Hamas was working to form their own Palestinian state in Gaza by presenting that Hamas would not be satisfied with a state in Gaza or in the “West Bank” (Judea and Samaria) as their intent is intent on the complete destruction of Israel. Mahmoud Al-Zahar further stated, “If we succeed in setting up a government in Gaza, autonomy, civil administration or any other framework on a portion of the land of Palestine, that does not mean that we give up on one other grain of Palestine.” Just one week earlier Al-Zahar demanded an end to the Palestinian Authority and explained that the “honeymoon period” was over as was any hope of continuing the “unity government” calling for a return to the “armed struggle.” Of course none of this was reported on the evening news throughout much of the world even including some newscasts in Israel. These little spats cannot be permitted to spoil the view that everything between the factions within the Palestinian Arab families might have even the slightest possibility of hitting a rough spot.

The truth is that rough spots is the norm between Hamas and Fatah or even Hamas and the Arab Palestinian Authority and have been that way since the elections in 2006 when Hamas won the Parliamentary elections and Abbas decided that there was no need for having an election for his spot as the President of the Arab Palestinian Authority as he had just succeeded the Late Yasser Arafat just over eighteen months earlier and extended his term until the next elections in 2009. This problem was the result of the hubris of the United States, surprise, surprise. President George W. Bush and his then Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice insisted that the Palestinian Parliamentary elections of 2006 had to be open to all the parties of the Arab Palestinian Authority, both Fatah and Hamas. Somehow they missed insisting on Islamic Jihad but why quibble over degrees of disasters. Mahmoud Abbas pleaded with President George W. Bush and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to reconsider informing that allowing for Hamas to field candidates against Fatah would result in a disaster and a Hamas victory, the only variable was the scale of the disaster. Prime Minister Sharon also demanded that this open election not be pressed as it would all but guarantee a Hamas victory which Israel pressed would be a disaster for Israel, any hopes for peace and might even result in a new war. President George W. Bush and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice remained adamant and the rest is history, Hamas won a majority in the Parliament and all elections going forward would end up cancelled after the Gaza War which led to a Hamas government in Gaza and a Fatah controlled Arab Palestinian Authority in Judea and Samaria (West Bank).

There was a new wrinkle this past week when violence flared in Judea and Samaria between different segments of the Arab Palestinian Authority, of different Fatah factions. The latest flare-up has broken out in two locations, Jenin, once the location of a false massacre that to this day is still used to attempt to besmirch the IDF despite the fact that even the United Nations, not exactly the best friend when it comes to defending Israel, investigated the battle and found that for all intents and purposes the casualties were virtually all combatants and the numbers were minimal and nowhere near the numbers claimed by Palestinian spokespersons or numerous international NGOs, and Nablus, historically named Shechem since the times of ancient Israel of nearly three-thousand years ago. Both Jenin and Nablus are within Area A which places them under complete Arab Palestinian Authority control which includes both civil and security. The laws in these two cities and surrounding areas is made by the Arab Palestinian Authority Parliament and is enforced completely by the Arab Palestinian Authority Security Forces personnel. All of this was spelled out and stipulated part and parcel in the 1993 Oslo Accords and was intended to allow the Arabs to prove they were capable of self-rule and managing their own areas, the results of this have been mixed at best. The violence which broke out this week was not a sign that things are going neither well in Jenin nor in Nablus. Let us take the two locations separately.

Jenin has been a powder-keg as the refugee camp there has been the home of numerous different terrorist squads and crime within the camp has been a running problem as the refugees are denied employment and are prime candidates to join terrorist squads or turn to crime as any manner of escape from the camps is highly desirable. The fact that there are Arab Palestinian refugee camps within Judea and Samaria as well as within Gaza is virtually beyond belief. These Arabs are living in what can only be described as government provided apartment buildings similar in design to the government housing in the inner cities in the United States, permanent structures made of concrete forms and fully furnished just as any other apartment building except that these apartment buildings hold Palestinians denoted as refugees living amongst Palestinians in a Palestinian governed area. Should the world decide tomorrow to end the farce which is the Palestinian refugee permanent and festering situation where if either of your parents were refugees then you will grow up as a refugee and your children and their children yet to be born will also be refugees. The violence, which was reported in some news media given the kind of coverage where it was not a leading story, broke out on Friday between members of the Fatah Party, possibly from their “military wing” the al-Aqsa’s Military Brigades, and Arab Palestinian Authority Security Forces, the “military and police forces” of the Arab Palestinian Authority which is made up mostly if not entirely by Fatah members in central Jenin near the refugee camp. This was simply the latest in a series of firefights between the al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades forces and the Arab Palestinian Authority forces. One such incident resulted in the Arab Palestinian Authority Security Force Headquarters being engulfed in a hail of bullets where fortunately and miraculously nobody was injured.

The amazing thing is the Fatah and the Arab Palestinian Authority both have Mahmoud Abbas as their leader. Abbas is the Chairman of the Fatah Party and the President of the Arab Palestinian Authority, so this pitted armed men from one side under Mahmoud Abbas shooting and engaged with armed men on the other side under Mahmoud Abbas, and this is a normalcy within their society with its dualities often drawn to separate the so-called refugees from the rest of the population. The next day, Saturday, in the Balata “Refugee Camp” in Nablus, the car of a leading Fatah activists, Fayiz Arafat, was set on fire. Several days before his vehicle was burnt, he was the target of an apparent assassination attempt which the local people placed the blame on the Arab Palestinian Authority Security officers. These shootings have been escalating under the radar for quite some time and only recently have they spilled out of control and thus started to be reported in some reports within the communities, both refugee and normative Arab Palestinians. These outbursts of violence have been escalating with their having been two main sources leading up to these escalations, coup attempts by Hamas and the influx of ISIS supporters starting to form cells which are then seen as rivals leading to their targeting by the long-standing forces from within Fatah, some of which also serve in the Arab Palestinian Authority Security Forces. Last year there was being formed a larger force by Hamas operatives for the purpose of launching a coup against Fatah and taking over the Arab Palestinian Authority in a similar escalation which resulted in Gaza being run by Hamas outside of the Arab Palestinian Authority control and rule. The Hamas growing threat was detected by Israeli forces who arrested the leaders of the cell and the cell collapsed fragmenting without its leadership.

The breakout of firefights between Fatah al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade forces and the Arab Palestinian Authority Security Forces is a surprising development. The supporters of the al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades forces lay all of the blame for instigating this situation by pressing their efforts against Fatah Activists Fayiz Arafat as part and parcel of their attempts to also take control over the Balata Refugee Camp wresting it from its local control and enforcement by the Fatah forces. This is not as far-fetched as it may at first appear as there has been any number of these situations recently. Some of the violence has occurred before but then mostly as isolated incidents. There was also the arrest and breakup of an ISIS cell in Hevron earlier this month and more such threats promise to appear as ISIS has gained strength by garnering recruits from both Fatah members and Hamas members plus anyone who have lost their faith in the faction’s ability to deliver on its promises of destroying Israel and instead seek out ISIS who have a record of being the stronger force capable of delivering on their promises for actions in place of words though we have seen little reservations. Should these differences continue to fracture the Arab society and place each group at the other groups’ throats with the violence constantly ramping upward becoming more serious, eventually destroying any hopes of the entire Arab community. Turning to ISIS will simply represent the Arab society proving that their intent was never to form their own state but solely to destroy the Jewish State of Israel. Such irreconcilable truth being exhibited will only serve to refute even their most ardent supporters’ claims that their intentions are of a limited nature and not having the complete destruction of Israel as their lifelong goal. Turning to ISIS will signal the end of the ability of even the Europeans and the lunatic fringe extreme leftists from denying the claim that the aims of the Palestinian society is destruction of Israel and not the construction of their own state.
