The actual sayings from which the title becomes a truism is a combination of “All’s fair in love and war” with the saying “Politics is war by another means.” String the two together and one gets “All’s Fair in Love, War, and Politics.” Nothing has made this more evident than the infighting, battling semantics, war of personal destruction, and meddling by outlying interests attempting to destroy the nation, Israel, using her weakest point, democratic elections. The current campaign before the Israeli public presents a choice between two old and tested rival parties, one from the leftist edges and the other from the nationalist center. The socialist left which used the crime of inequality of money between the wealthy and the jealous crowd who desire that government reallocate earnings in what they are convinced through repeated promise by political charlatans is their rightful desserts. The other side speaks of great threats abounding around every corner from which the world is not willing to assist and may even be willing to sacrifice Israel on the altars of expedience rather than fight the battles of conscience and hold the gates keeping out those barbarians pounding from without. The debate might be a fair political battle if elections were still held between the parties, candidates and the people of the nation. That is how it functions in most nations but there are those few nations within which nothing can be done normally and everything plays out on the stage of the world susceptible to the whims, influences and interferences of those from around the world whose interests are not as much for the health and safety of Israel but more to protect their images and promote their own positions even if it must be at the cost of Israeli politicians or potentially the actual lives of millions of Israelis. We will likely be able to witness such interferences and even the dishonest attempts by outside interests working with the selfish efforts of politicians within Israel who desire either personal aggrandizement or some who believe there are fated and destined to lead Israel into the future and that being so fated they are the only one capable of leading with true sight and divine brilliance thus willing to do virtually anything in order to reach their fated position as Prime Minister. The mixture in this election has a cast which might be able to fill every type and situation one might imagine which is what makes such so interesting to study and watch everything play out.

Where the differing positions and offers are almost always similar in Israeli politics such that it makes it fairly easy to describe the differing political positions and people familiar with Israeli politics do not even require the names or parties to identify where and from whom the positions originate, so I guess we could speak of theoreticals and leave the names for each to discern on their own, but eventually names simply become more convenient and necessary and anyways, why play it safe all of a sudden. As has already been made obvious, the two viable parties vying for the privilege to form the next coalition government are about as opposite as two parties can get. One side claims that Israel needs to get along to go along and that good relations with Europe and the United States to the point that in many items Israel would be better served by joining with the efforts in every situation and that rocking the boat and making claims that Israeli interests must supercede those of other traditional allies is counterproductive and likely to cause Israel great harm. The opposing party and their candidate’s position is that there are threats to Israel which must be addressed even if doing so places Israeli leaders in opposition to what they identify as allied leaders who are willing to compromise so completely in order to establish what they view as their potential for a great and exemplary legacy. The split between the two main parties divides between guns and butter. The proponents of the guns legacy emphasize the need for Israel to remain strong and able to stand against any and all threats even if such preparations come at the expense of addressing the disparity between the wealthy and the middle class. The proponents of the butter legacy call for redistribution through having the wealthy pay their fair share and call for more government programs and giveaways where the government subsidizes more and more items such as rents and food subsidies despite this requiring higher taxes and a smaller military and defense budget to pay for their social projects. But this election cycle has two distinct realms, the Israeli and the international realms. The Israeli side of this coming election appears to be mostly relegated to the second tier parties which are not expected to be vying for the Prime Ministership and being tasked with forming the coalition but rather gaining as many Ministers so as to provide them with the most favorable influence and assigned positions over the most desirable Ministerships in the next government. Of course these parties also will be asked to provide suggestions as to whom they prefer from the two leading parties, or possibly three in some unforeseen scenario, to become Prime Minister and organize a coalition. The predicted choice is no secret as the two entities vying for the top spot are Likud and the hybrid of Labor and Hatnua Parties running, for now, as the Zionist Party with Benyamin Netanyahu the leader of Likud and the shared position of Yitzhak Herzog and Tzipi Livni being the alternate choice. No matter which party, Likud or Labor/Hatnua Zionist Camp, win the most mandates, it still will rely on which leader is recommended by the parties combining to give one side the best ability of patching together a coalition which has sixty-one Ministers or greater as such is required to have even the most shallow coalition majority of the one-hundred-twenty seat Knesset. Fortunately, almost without interference, at least up to this point, the secondary parties have not suffered the interferences from outside of Israel beyond the occasional editorial or commentary in foreign newscasts or newspapers. The interesting interactions has been the international jousting which promises to only accelerate and become even more amplified in the remaining weeks and then days leading up to the March 17th election day.

Where the Israeli elections have hit a fulcrum on which the election’s fate will pivot has its origins in the heart of Washington D.C. and will be operated out of New York City and Tel Aviv with generous American funding, State Department support and heaven knows what else. V15, V2015 and One Voice are the three names that the media will avoid relating tales of mystery and shady deals. Instead we will hear stories about bottlegate; Naftaligate, any forms of misrepresentation or misinterpretation of words either spoken or misheard coming from Naftali Bennett who heads the Jewish Home and is a strong and unrepentant Zionist which the press finds as something depicting suspected personality defects; more stories of crimes concerning members of Yisrael Beytenu; stories of Sara Netanyahu being really mean to the hired helpers around the house; and scandals speaking of unspeakable offenses by Prime Minister Netanyahu against members of United States President Obama’s administration. The media coverage of these items will become ever more harsh, louder, more shrill and ever more edgy as the March 17th deadline for elections rapidly approaches. There will be the regaling stories about the universality of rapprochement and acceptability which the team of Tzipi Livni and Yitzhak Hertzog bring to an Israeli government if only the political luddites can be enlightened to look beyond the primitive sloganeering of the false self-proclaimed Zionists as is not the merger of Herzog’s and Livni’s Labor/Hatnua Party’s election title “The Zionist Camp” making them actual and real true Zionists? What will be interesting for those afflicted with reading both Israeli and American liberal media, but I repeat myself, there will be similar stories covering the actual speech, the invitation, the broken protocols and the offenses committed against President Obama by the plotting and dastardly deeds committed by Speaker of the House John Boehner through inviting Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu to address a joint session of Congress behind the back of the President and to espouse theories and accusations of the P5+1 negotiations with Iran being overly desperate such that they are willing to accept any deal the Iranians demand just so they will have something to show for their efforts. Their impatience will be shown to be only outdone by their desire to make a deal that permits President Obama to also reestablish United States formal relations with Iran just as he recently has with Cuba. Perhaps President Obama will force an agreement which will allow for the signing to be held in Tehran and coincide with his announcing the reopening of the American Embassy and the new Ambassador, John Kerry, establishing his legacy as the President who reopened doors long ago locked and ignored in order to not admit the broken off of relations had become failed policy.

There is one claim which has been made recently which strikes me as being well beyond the cusp. That claim is that Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, by his recent actions and especially for not backing out of his acceptance of the invitation to address a joint session of Congress while in the United States for the AIPAC Conference, has destroyed the trust and good will that had been built under the careful, generous and skillful steps taken by President Obama which have proven his support and devotion to Israel and her security both now and into the future which has been exemplified by the tireless and relentless pursuit of the best possible agreement which will limit and deny Iran the ability to ever develop nuclear weapons. Such a story line would be far more believable if history had not shown the animosity and disrespect shown Prime Minister Netanyahu by President Obama from the very outset of their relations. What is odd is that the reason for the bad blood between the two leaders stems from President Obama’s animus shown towards Israel and the possibly intentional missteps taken by the President over the years. One might have taken one of the very first steps by President Obama as soon as he came into the Oval Office after being sworn in during the inauguration and then re-sworn in as something made the President feel he needed to recommit. With all that behind him, President Obama nestled into the large, comfortable chair behind the Resolute Desk in the Oval Office where he made his very first official phone call of his administration. As difficult as it may be to accept, President Obama did not call Prime Minister Netanyahu with that first defining phone call. Neither did he call the Prime Minister of Britain, the President of France, the Prime Minister of Turkey, the King of Saudi Arabia, the President of Russia, the Leader of China, he phoned a man who was not even a head of state, he phoned Mahmoud Abbas who is the chairman of the Fatah Party, head of the PLO (Palestinian Liberation Organization) and the Chairman of the Palestinian Authority. Yes, President Obama’s first official phone call from the Oval Office went to Mahmoud Abbas, a leader of a terrorist organization, the PLO, and a man sworn to destroy Israel from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea. One of the first moves towards attempting to push for a peace agreement establishing borders establishing peace and security between Israel and the Arabs was a demand that Israel freeze all building until the negotiations were finalized as a measure to show Israeli willingness to make peace. This resulted ultimately in Prime Minister Netanyahu promising and observing a ten month building freeze in all the disputed areas and instead of using this time of goodwill to negotiate an agreement, Mahmoud Abbas, the good friend of President Obama, refused to meet with the Israelis for the first nine and a half months. When he finally met with Prime Minister Netanyahu he simply demanded that the building freeze be extended for another ten months. When the building freeze officially ended and realizing that calling for another ten month freeze might have been an error, Abbas altered his demand and called for a permanent building freeze until a final agreement was reached. During the ten months of the Israeli enforced goodwill gesture of a building freeze President Obama did not once demand that Abbas actually negotiate. On Prime Minister Netanyahu’s first visit to Washington D.C. to meet with President Obama, the President set some unusual rules for the Israeli leader. The two men would not have any meeting before the media, there would be no official meal shared and Prime Minister Netanyahu was required to enter and depart the White House from a side delivery entrance and not be seen using the main entrance to the White House. So much for first impressions making an optimistic start.

Moving along we find that President Obama made another demand while still in his first two years as President when he stated that he fully expected for the border between any Arab state being forged to exist side by side with Israel presumably in peace and security would necessarily have the Green Line, the 1949 Armistice Line, the pre Six Day War boundary lines which Abba Eban, the Israeli statesman and former Ambassador to the United Nations described as the Auschwitz Borders, as their border. Eventually the idea of mutually agreed upon small land swaps was added and that was to make everything just wonderful. President Obama had a habit of intentionally making such demand of Israel either just before the Israeli leader boarded the plane to visit Washington D.C. or while he was actually in the air in flight to the United States. President Obama refused to meet with Prime Minister Netanyahu when both were in New York for the opening ceremonies for the United Nations General Assembly but instead found time to appear on the television show “The View” and make small talk and good humor during their broadcast. There have been numerous leaks from the White House which spoiled a number of Israeli plans which were being arranged with the target being the Iranian nuclear sites in order to end the Iranian nuclear weapons production before they became too well fortified for air attacks to be successful. These leaks attained their intended goal of protecting Iran from any Israeli intervention. President Obama has stated numerous times that he honestly believes that Iran can be deterred even should they attain nuclear weapons status through the same Mutually Assured Destruction which prevented a nuclear exchange between the Soviet Union and the United States. Such reasoning refuses to accept the Iranian policy which has been stated in speech after speech that Israel could be destroyed by at most two nuclear weapons while all the nuclear weapons possessed by Israel would only wound the Islamic world which would survive while Israel would not survive. Such reasoning is not the product of any sane and rational mind which could be dissuaded by their own destruction from attacking Israel with as many nuclear weapons as was necessary. There are numerous other points which could be presented to paint the picture of the contempt and disdain that President Obama has for Israel and her existence. President Obama only desires one thing from Israel and that is for Israel to do whatever is required to reach a peace with Mahmoud Abbas so that President Obama will enhance his legacy with the making of peace in the Middle East even if said peace is written across the corps of Israel. All of this paints a picture far different than what is being sold in both the United States and Israel. Netanyahu has not lost the friendship of President Obama as one cannot lose that which never existed. As all President Obama wants from any Israeli Prime Minister is for them to promise him the same thing the Israelites promised when receiving the Law from G0d in the wilderness when they are recorded as having said, “We obey and we hear.” After experiencing the Ten Plagues, the parting of the Red Sea, the manna they ate in the wilderness and numerous other miracles of the L0rd the Israelites were absolutely ready to accept and honor anything G0d may have demanded of them. Thus the agreement of was spoken by the Israelites in every corner of their camp into the heart where the Tabernacle stood erected, “We obey and we hear.” They were ready but the Israelites of today, well, most of the Israelites of today are not about to grant such faith in President Obama as he has not come anywhere near deserving of the respect, awe, fear, love and faith that the Israelites had back there in the wilderness before the actual presence of G0d Almighty.

Obama’s Deceits Over Israeli Elections

President Obama loudly proclaimed why he would not meet with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu explaining how it would be such a horrible and uncouth act to interfere in the Israeli elections by appearing to support the Prime Minister and Netanyahu’s reelection efforts. If only that was even close to being a true statement. There is an entire imbroglio concerning V2015, their campaign to defeat Netanyahu, One Voice and the potential that the United States State Department is funding their efforts to organize a grass roots network to defeat Prime Minister Netanyahu’s Likud Party election efforts in order to place what could euphemistically be called Administration’s pawns in the Prime Minister’s office in Israel all so President Obama will be able to forge a peace which will all but guarantee the end of the State of Israel just to allow the President his legacy. In all fairness we must place this in early in this article and in the campaign in Israel, we also do not support the reelection of Netanyahu to be Prime Minister but we are even more opposed to having the Labor-Hatnua Parties lists placing Yitzhak Hertzog and Tzipi Livni in some form of sharing the Prime Minister position as their efforts appear that they would facilitate another disengagement this time in Judea and Samaria. After witnessing the events which followed the disengagement in Gaza we see such a move as pure folly and potentially bringing forces even more threatening than the Palestinian Authority or Hamas into attempting eradicating Israel’s existence, namely ISIS.

For Prime Minister Netanyahu’s and his Likud Party’s this is something they have witnessed before when the President Clinton successfully interfered in the campaign for elections to the Israeli parliament, the Knesset, and thereby denied the Likud Party what initially appeared to be their easy elections victory in 1999 and being chosen to form the ruling coalition and the right to name the Prime Minister according to Israeli law. President Clinton provided some additional assistance in the form of Stanley Greenberg along with partners James Carville and Robert Shrum, who helped Labor Party under Ehud Barak defeat Netanyahu in the 1999 elections. Previously, then-President Bill Clinton was reportedly active in creating rifts within Netanyahu’s coalition, hastening its downfall. Additionally, after orchestrating the crisis which forced Prime Minister Netanyahu to call for early elections in 2012, Stanley Greenberg was involved in helping Labor, under Shelly Yachimovich, to defeat Netanyahu once again, this time to no avail. As has been said, that was then, this is now; as it is now the Obama elections team which will be there to try and influence an Israeli election and defeat Netanyahu.

The efforts in Israel are being coordinated by an organization called V15 whose organizers informed Haaretz that they rather call their campaign “Anyone but Bibi,” they refer to it as “replace the government” which does not reference any Party or particular person. Perhaps this makes their efforts able to skirt the election laws and thus disguise their electioneering efforts in the Israeli elections. Jeremy Bird who was the Obama campaign’s national field director in 2012 will be heading the V-2015 efforts to run a grassroots, Obama-style campaign out of offices in Tel Aviv. By running the campaign to change the government they hope to enlist thousands of individuals and have them canvas as many homes across Israel as they are able in an attempt to influence people not to vote for the Likud Party in order to prevent the reelection of another Likud coalition which would place Netanyahu back as Prime Minister. Though the campaign claims they are not supporting anybody for election, these efforts will work to directly assist the campaign efforts of the Labor and Hatnua Party’s combined list.

Already there is one item which we have found to be something which seriously reeks of an Alinsky-style effort where often where misrepresentation and simple sloganeering are instrumental in the campaign effort. The use by the combined Labor Party with Tzipi Livni’s Hatnua Party choosing to name their partnership for election purposes the “Zionist Camp” despite their positions being anything but Zionist. This is similar in texture and appeal to the use of “Hope and Change” while not defining what is being ‘hoped for’ and what they plan ‘to change.’ Still, on a simple campaign slogan of “Hope and Change” teamed with the chanting of the other half of the campaign trip, “Yes You Can” and the other spin offs such as ‘Yes We Can’ and others, the 2008 election campaign and in a lesser way the 2012 campaign elected and reelected President Obama. I am waiting to hear either Hertzog or Livni calmly, smoothly waving to the gathering of supporters and sauntering, you might even call it strutting, up to the podium, surveying the crowd which awaits their signal, then they preface or finish their speech pumping a fist into the air and repeatedly calling out, “Yes We Can!” “Yes We Can!” “Yes We Can!” until the crowd picks up on the chant and a slogan will have been transplanted to Israel. It is not necessarily the same chant; they might go with something a little less obvious as, “No More Bibi!” or other supposedly organic chant which theoretically spontaneously originated and was not preplanned or anything so diabolical, it just sort of happened.

There is a way of communicating exactly what is happening and quoting a pair of people far more erudite and possessing far more gravitas than I who have stepped up and defined things, Senator Ted Cruz and Representative Lee Zeldin. Were this any other pair of nations, it would be beyond the cusp of believable scenarios, but because it is Israel and the history of Democrat campaign specialists from previous Presidential efforts in the United States coming to Israel to defeat Prime Minister Netanyahu, anything becomes standard utilization of available and proffered electioneering expertise. This partnership to remove or defeat Netanyahu and by necessity the Likud Party was first launched by then President Bill Clinton with the team of Stanley Greenberg, James Carville and Robert Shrum in 1999 and then simply Stanley Greenberg leading the efforts in 2012, we now have a passing of the baton (Hillary might claim it to be loaning the baton if she decides to run in 2016) to the Obama election machine with Jeremy Bird organizing the efforts, and the combined efforts of V2015, One Voice and others even to the point of using State Department funding to unseat Netanyahu by any methods necessary, Senator Ted Cruz and Representative Lee Zeldin have stepped up and authored a letter to Secretary of State John Kerry demanding an investigation and report on any potential use of State Department funding by any of the entities in this ever deepening plot which would indicate not only efforts which would be illegal under both American and Israeli elections law and potentially other laws and statutes are in actually being utilized. Below is their letter in full and it can be verified as authentic at the Ted Cruz official Senatorial Web Address. As promised, their letter below:

Beyond the Cusp

Congress of the United States
Washington, DC 20515

January 29, 2015

The Honorable John Kerry,
Secretary of State
Department of State,
Washington, DC 20520

Dear Mr. Secretary:

We write to express strong concerns over the recent media reports that a U.S. taxpayer funded 501(c) non-profit1 organization called OneVoice is actively working with a campaign operation called V15 or “Victory 2015” in an effort to influence the outcome of the elections in Israel on March 17, 2015.

On January 26, 2015, the Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported2 on the close coordination between these two entities. The reporter described his visit to the campaign operation in Tel Aviv, Israel, and the significant role Jeremy Bird, President Obama’s former deputy national field director (2008) and national field director (2012), is playing with V15.

The Haaretz report makes clear that the purpose of this alliance is to advance a particular ideological agenda: “With the help of American money and a former campaign adviser to President Barack Obama, V15 is trying to replace Israel’s government. The money and organization comes from V15’s partnership with OneVoice…OneVoice is expected to merge with V15 before the March 17 election.”3

V15 organizers reiterated this point to the Haaretz reporter, noting that instead of calling the operation “Anyone but Bibi,” members of V15 merely phrase it slightly differently: “We say ‘replace the government,’ it’s not directed at specific individuals. There have been many years of right-wing governments during which little happened, it’s time to change course and give people hope… We will go to homes and we will win…The work with the research team that Bird brought has really ignited sparks…”4

The January 27th OneVoice press release confirmed this goal. As its Executive Director declared, “We need a prime minister and a government who will be responsive to the people.”5

Of course private American citizens are free to engage in political activities according to their inclinations, but given the overtly partisan nature of this particular case, we are deeply concerned by the relationship that also exists between OneVoice and the U.S. Department of State. OneVoice lists the State Department as a partner on its website.6 In its 2013 annual report, the CEO of OneVoice touted the organization’s work “together in partnership with the U.S. Embassy in Tel Aviv and the U.S. Consulate General in Jerusalem…made possible by two parallel U.S. Government grants.”7 According to a U.S. government website, OneVoice twice received grants89 from the State Department in 2014.

Given the public statements by a number of Obama administration officials, including the President, that it would be “inappropriate”10 for the government of the United States to exercise any influence over elections in a foreign country including Israel, we believe this issue demands your urgent attention. There appears to be a danger that U.S. taxpayer funds are being used to directly shape the outcome of the upcoming Israeli election–and specifically to campaign against Prime Minister Netanyahu–something all would agree would be highly inappropriate.

We request a thorough investigation by the State Department’s Inspector General within the next 15 days that answers the following questions:

How much funding has the U.S. Government provided to OneVoice, PeaceWorks Network Foundation, and any connected initiatives, projects or subsidiaries?

Who approved providing such funds?

What is the oversight and accounting process for how these funds are being spent?

How often and on what dates has such funding been provided?

What were the specific reasons and terms for providing funds, and how are these funds specifically being spent?

Can the Department of State guarantee that none of these funds have been or will be used in the endeavor detailed above, namely the partnership with V15, or any similar effort to exert undue influence over the Israeli political process?

Was there any knowledge from the State Department or other U.S. government officials of the partnership with V15 prior to providing funds to OneVoice?

Does OneVoice’s work with V15 violate its 501(c)(3) status (or the status of the PeaceWorks Network Foundation) as a tax-exempt organization and should such status be revoked?

Thank you for your prompt attention to this disturbing matter, and we look forward to your swift and detailed reply.

Sincerely,

Sen. Ted Cruz                                             Rep. Lee Zeldin
Member of Congress                                 Member of Congress

President of the World or Just the United States?

Once again President Barack Hussein Obama has ordered an edict to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu demanding that he tone down any opposition to the White House, or was that opposition to those on Mount Olympus, on their deified position on the Iran nuclear program negotiations. The man on the throne in the Oval Office, or is that Ruler and Decider Over All the Obama Thinks to See from the Stretched Circle Temple Room on Capital Mount which rises majestically reaching into the heavens, has spoken and threatens with dire consequence, as to be struck down by the thunderbolts and lightning that emanate from the fingertips of the Obama when ire is aroused by mere mortals, should he speak ill of the Obama and his mastery of the Iran negotiations as the Prime Minister of the Vassal State of Israel Netanyahu is to address the Congress which itself is facing the dreaded foreboding of Obama’s formidable Pen and a Phone, a curse for which there can be only one recourse, the virtually unattainable bipartisan cooperation in case of formidable challenges, also referred to in the Constitution as the veto override. With some of the strongest of challenges and a solo knight of singularly heralded bravery in defiance of even Obama, the one that sits in the Stretched Circle Temple Room on Capital Mount, the one from the flatlands of New Jersey, where the pine forest spreads across the north, comes the Senator known as Robert Menendez who dares to legislate sanctions against Iran should the negotiations string on delayed once more. Fearless, the Senator Menendez stands against the blistering flames of chastisement intended to wilt his spirit but he dares still. With the support of one who had battled with Obama for entry to the Stretched Circle Temple Room on Capital Mount and lost, Menendez has John McCain riding by his side and Senator Mark Kirk from the Land of Lincoln, Illinois, and a width and depth of Senators which signals strength enough to overturn the Veto of the Pen on High. But the Senate, though great in stature, does not rule the Congress alone; there is also the House of Representatives where the voice of the people is said to be heard. There the former Voice of the Representatives Nancy Pelosi will be testing her mettle against an injured but still elected as Speaker and Voice of the House John Boehner as they try to sustain or overturn the Veto from the Pen on High to force by will of might the passage of the Bill of Sanctions on the Twelver Nation of Iran over the protestations of the Obama of the Stretched Circle Temple Room on Capital Mount. This promises to be the jousting contest of this new century and one to which all can watch and follow the initial debate and launch of the siege weapons upon the Great White House atop the Capital Mount soon answered with the Veto of the Pen on High sending torrents of inked blood which glows with the heat of magma and the venom of a thousand poisons which then will face the cleansing purge attempt of the most difficult of endeavors demanding unity of purpose beyond measure in both chambers, the Senate where austere men of oft exalted praise and deeds noble must first pass muster and even more, then the House where the people are rumored to be heard may this time hear the many but still almost silent screams that emanate across the lands and this may give the impetus necessary for the overwhelming vote despite the protestations so loud from Pelosi in horrific denial will surely stand firm straddling the gates trying to prevent the flood from bursting them open and making the scroll for sanctions the law which must be implemented as the last deed did prove necessary and was done, but will there be acclaim or simply the sounds of slumber as nobody really noted but for the few who toil to make note of such events that so grand and full of flourishes with the clash of steel from wits so clear and astonishing displays such as sparkling fireworks dazzle the few within sight to see but often go unnoticed by the slumbering masses resting between their hours of toil simply for the comforts they enjoy and the meals they provide, for they have not the time to consider these things and entrust those wizards, warlocks, knights, jesters and fools who they empower to do those necessary and oft unnecessary peculiarities which fall silent across the land with rare exception when the people actually do take note and rally together often simply to demand, “No more!”

Coming back to earth, President Barack Hussein Obama had made the observation in which he described himself as a citizen of the world and not merely a citizen of the United States. This has to lead one to wonder if as a citizen of the earth and not merely the United States, when he won the Presidency did it mean he was now president of the world or merely the one he was actually elected to, President of the United States. It must have been a sobering moment when in June of 2013 when he gave his second speech at the Brandenburg Gate and did not have anywhere near the enthusiasm or crowd size as he received in July 2008 when he was cheered by two-hundred-thousand people, a fair bit larger than the mere invited crowd of six-thousand he will speak to this time. The first time candidate Obama was the man of the world and, in his own mind even if not so much elsewhere, the candidate of the world and soon to be more than just the President of the United States, more than enough for other mere mortals, but he and his supporters were, as he put it, “Change will not come if we wait for some other person or if we wait for some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.” Some might claim that President Obama was a disappointment; some always believed he was going to be far less than he promised. Some claimed he would make President Jimmy Carter look good, some still believe he was exactly the person he described that day in Colorado from where the above quote comes. It was claimed that President Obama would be the amalgamation of President Lincoln, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, Lyndon Baines Johnson and a myriad of others depending on to whom you listened. Most of the people were attempting to praise the incoming President and ignored that there were qualities and actions by these Presidents of whom they spoke which were far less than exemplary. President Lincoln suspended Habeas Corpus, Arrested the Maryland legislature, and there are some, myself included, who also contend that President Lincoln swore out an arrest warrant for the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. Franklin Delano Roosevelt was either the greatest Presidential economist in his guiding the United States through the Great Depression or the worst economist in recorded history as only in the United States did the Great Depression last a decade while in Europe where the governments were paralyzed and unable to react the same depression lasted a whole two and a half years. Lastly, the greatest quality Lyndon Baines Johnson could be credited with is he knew how to get legislation passed, but then knowing the dirty little secrets of the majority of people serving in the Congress and arm twisting to the point where ligaments snap and bones bend permanently may not be the kind of thing one might wish to have in one’s resume. This is not to claim that any of these qualities are present in President Obama, they are just to point out that even those who many believe are above reproach and amongst the greatest people to ever have lived, there are still some moth eaten clothes in their wardrobe. Sometimes one should be very careful choosing whom to model themselves after and research deeply for any darker sides of their chosen ideal role model.

What has motivated this exercise in blogging of the absurd is the recent hyperventilating gasps of hyperbole mixed with a touch of panicky, paranoid, pubescent proclamations all in reaction to the White House not being approached to receive their blessings before inviting Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu to mostly give evidence and answer questions before Congress pertaining to Iran and possibly a few other minor items such as the collapse of Yemen and the death of the Saudi King, so all right, the Saudi King died subsequent to the actual invitation, I just hope that his death is not blamed on Congress and Netanyahu not calling the White House and asking, “Mother may I” before extending or accepting the Congressional invitation. Technically, Prime Minister Netanyahu is not being invited solely due to his being the Prime Minister of Israel or to give him a stage for the elections in Israel as most Israelis could not care one way or the other that Netanyahu is providing testimony and answering questions before the United States Congress, they pretty much know his views on Iran differ diametrically with those of President Obama and he holds that far more urgency needs to be applied to any attempts to prevent Iran from obtaining and building nuclear weapons and probably the reason for all the protestations over his invitation to witness before the United States Congress was more to garner headlines and make a big public protest within Israel that Netanyahu was cheating and was a no good louse and give his rivals, especially Labor Party Leader Yitzhak Hertzog and Hatnua Party Leader Tzipi Livni free campaign coverage and to make it appear that they are just as qualified and thus should also have been giving testimony if anybody should. Their arguments in the press were a red herring as both Hertzog and Livni are campaigning on the premise that Israel needs a friend of President Obama as Prime Minister and that if Israel does not select Barack Obama light then Israel will cease to be a nation and the world will turn against them. The supposed dustup about the invitation scandal appears to have received larger coverage in the world and Israeli media than it has inside the United States just as the fact that President Obama has declined to meet with Prime Minister Netanyahu nor allow his Secretary of State John Kerry which has received some media inside the United States but largely with very slanted coverage depending on the leanings of each media. Those supporting the Democrats mention that the President is reacting to a perceived snub by the Speaker of the House and that the Republicans broke protocols while the ones supporting the Republicans cast it as the President being spiteful and acting on hurt feelings for not being asked to the ball and having to stay home. Maybe there will be a Fairy Godmother and a glass loafer in the offing as long as he is back in the White House by midnight.

The President is not the only one whining and kvetching, there are Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid who reports have claimed have been very distressed by the fact they were not included on the invitation to the Prime Minister as cosponsors, or was their reason for complaining to assist the President, or what was it and how can one tell they were distressed, their facial features hardly ever change. The Israeli coverage of the reactions of former Senate Majority and present Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid and former Speaker of the House and now Minority House Leader Nancy Pelosi reacted with immeasurable negative emotions was provided by Arutz Sheva as quoted below.

Democratic leaders in the Senate were livid over the invitation to Netanyahu, with Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid saying that Republican congressional leaders did not consult him on inviting Netanyahu to address a joint session of Congress, but adding he would welcome the speech.

Nancy Pelosi, the leader of the House Democrats, used harsher language, blasting Boehner for failing to consult with Democrats.

“It’s out of the ordinary that the Speaker would decide that he would be inviting people to a joint session without any bipartisan consultation,” she said.

“It’s hubris to say ‘I rule, I’ll decide,’ without any sensitivity” to the upcoming Israeli elections, charged Pelosi.

This pretty much covers the enormity of the bruised egos out of the Congress but there were also some bruises up at the White House as can be noticed below from the same source.

The White House spokesman dismissed speculations that Obama’s refusal to meet Netanyahu is connected to troubled relations between the two.

“As you may have noticed, Obama has spent more time talking with Netanyahu than with any other leader in the world. The United States and Israel have a clear security interest, and our commitment to Israel’s national security remains unshakeable,” stressed Earnest.

“We have differences with the current prime minister of Israel, but it does not contradict our commitment to Israel’s security even for a moment,” he continued. “We would prefer if Netanyahu shared the same vision as Obama regarding the crisis with Iran, but he does not.”
And a small bit more about an earlier statement,
“We haven’t heard from the Israelis directly about the trip at all,” he said Wednesday, hours after House speaker John Boehner announced Netanyahu’s invitation. “The typical protocol would suggest that the leader of a country would contact the leader of another country when he is traveling there… So this particular event seems to be a departure from that protocol.”
