There Are No Viable Peace Plans Going Forward

There are rumors of plans and it is likely that some of these rumors and stated plans might actually be under consideration, though thus far only Secretary of State Kerry and his assembled battalion of experts and a collection of Palestinian leadership have remained completely consistent, though consistence may not exactly be helpful. The Palestinian’s united front can be told in a few sentences and starts with the complete rejection of everything Secretary Kerry has proposed. The Palestinians have been no less accommodating to anything that Israel has stated rejecting every single item Israeli leaders have suggested. The Palestinian official spokespeople have very consistent demands including the universal right of return for five million descendants of the refugees from the 1948 mostly voluntary departure of Arabs from the lands where Israel had declared their sovereignty and the combined forces of at least a half dozen Arab State’s Armies stood perched on the borders ready to launch a genocidal assault with the intent of utterly destroying every vestige that was Israel. The Mufti of Jerusalem and the commanders of the various Arab forces called on the Arabs residing within Israeli borders to depart so that they could simply slaughter every single human they encountered positive that they were not Muslims and promised them a share of the spoils taken from the defeated Jews upon their return after the glorious and inevitable victory, a victory that miraculously never came to fruition. They have also refused to neither ever recognize Israel as the Jewish State nor give up their so-called right to resistance, another word for terrorist activities. The Palestinian spokespersons also demand all of Eastern Jerusalem and every speck of dust that was lost to the Israelis by Jordan as a result of Jordan joining the Six Day War in 1967 on the second day of the fighting. And finally, though not the final demand coming from the Palestinians, they have stated their complete and total refusal to allow a single Israeli or Jew to ever set foot within their borders which would also include a complete denial of Jewish visitation to any of the dozens of holy sites such as the Western Wall, the Temple Mount, Kever Joseph, Kever Rachel, the Cave of the Patriarchs, Hevron, Shiloh and almost countless others returning to the dreadful days when these same places were so close yet denied to Jews when they were under Jordanian control. These positions are taken for two main reasons, first is that they are maximalist demands and second and probably the main reason is that they insult and demean the Jewish desire to be able to visit the places of historic importance to the Jewish people. But the intransigence and absolutist demands of the Palestinians are not news, so let’s discuss the rest of the leaked or stated plans.

Minister Avigdor Lieberman has put forth a plan where Israel would exchange with the Palestinians the predominantly Arab towns bordering the West Bank in exchange for the Settlement blocks of Israelis beyond the Green Line. This proposal has revealed some interesting responses from Israeli Arabs who normally are as anti-Semitic, anti-Israel and anti-Zionist who have decried the plan claiming that under no circumstance will they stand to be traded away and placed under the governance of the Palestinian Authority. I have suspicions that this plan was not made as an actual bonafide plan but more as an offer made in order to facilitate the responses from some select people who were forced to admit their preference for living under the Jewish governance of Israel than to be handed over to the governance of the Palestinians who they constantly claim to be in such deep agreement and unity. It also has the ability to put one more item on the table to allow Secretary Kerry and his entourage to reject and reveal why it would be such a horrible plan and reveal further their desire to pry a surrender from Israeli leadership while not pressing the Palestinians for any concessions in return.

That reminds me of another item which has surprisingly not been given ample coverage in the mainstream media in the United States or throughout Europe or even the Israeli liberal media. Every word, flinch or reaction of any sort emanating from Israeli leadership is top of the fold front page news to be dissected and analyzed ad-nauseum as was the recent comments made in a private conversation by Israeli Defense Minister Yaalon, but the riots and degrading and insulting remarks and actions from the leadership and the residents in the Palestinian areas which are autonomous and completely under Palestinian control while the IDF is only allowed to enter these areas under certain circumstances and often requiring Palestinian permission. There have been literally riots, shoe throwing contest at pictures of Secretary of State Kerry and United States President Obama and included an interesting chant that I suspect they missed the full meaning behind the words when they chanted a challenge to Secretary Kerry deriding that he has set up offices solely in Jerusalem and appears, along with his entire support forces, afraid to set up a similar command center in Ramallah claiming that is an example of Kerry’s timidity. These riots are ignored while the media deliberates endlessly over an Israeli Minister of Defense speaking the truth which has to be obvious to any thinking honest observer. The mainstream press has even run to interview anybody who they can rely upon to point out that President Obama has been the most favorable and best friend that Israel has ever had in the White House. Please don’t make me comment on how President Obama’s friendship is tantamount to an executioner promising to sharpen the axe before executing you and expecting you to thank him and give him a tip, ahead of time of course.

Meanwhile, Secretary Kerry has proposed that the Israelis will be able to monitor and counter potential terrorist activity and smuggling across the Jordan River into the Palestinian state with drones and satellites. He has claimed that this method is known to work extremely well as the United States uses this exact method to hermetically seal their southern border with Mexico from illegal immigrants entering the country for years now. There has been no discussion of whether the Palestinians will permit Israeli drones in their skies and even Israeli sensors along the Jordan River. And if Israel discovers terrorist activities and rocket launching emplacements being loaded in preparation to launch at Israel or Palestinian terrorists lying in wait with MANPADS anti-aircraft weapons on the hills overlooking Ben Gurion Airport, exactly what are the Israelis supposed to do? Will the world support the Israelis mounting an IDF incursion to prevent a disastrous catastrophe when a passenger plane is destroyed coming into land at Ben Gurion Airport? How long after the IDF sends aircraft to destroy rocket launching platforms will the Palestinians be before the United Nations General Assembly, Security Council, International Criminal Court, International Court of Justice and just about every single other international body demanding Israel be sanctioned and embargoed by the entire world. Will Secretary of State Kerry and President Obama side with Israel and lead a supportive response for allowing Israel to intercede militarily to prevent terrorist acts or will they support the rest of the world’s demanding that Israel do nothing until there has been an actual attack as no member state of the United Nations should ever take up arms against a fellow member state, they should instead petition the United Nations to intercede and protect them. And we all know how such a plea will be received but we do not know how Israel will survive such a plan once enacted. Of course why should Secretary Kerry worry about such insignificant items once he has been awarded a Nobel Peace Prize for his forming a peace between Israel and the Palestinians and succeeding in forming a Palestinian State. Secretary of State Kerry is peddling poison and knows it. He is the angel of death wearing a nice suit, a broad smile and a devious plan which will result in the death of Israel and a second Holocaust, but it is all in the name of peace. Such a peace I would prefer to avoid, so please my friends in the United States, keep Secretary of State Kerry at home and recall his minions who are tasked with bringing his evils to fruition. We will thank you and appreciate such friendship and find a way of repaying such kindness.

Secretary of State Kerry Inadvertently Resolves Lack of Arab Israeli Peace

If the world really actually cared about the truth rather than simply being dependent on their blind reliance of the oldest hatred of mankind, they might have had an awakening resulting from John Kerry’s efforts this past week in Jerusalem and Ramallah. The truth was laid bare and fortunately appears to have, at least temporarily for now, we will have to wait and see if the revelation lasts, caused a seismic change in the approach by the Obama administration in the Israel-Palestinian peace process. The change is as wondrous as it is remarkable. Perhaps we should reveal exactly what transpired that gave members of the Obama administration, including President Barack Obama, such an education opening their eyes to a truth that had been mostly ignored if not shunned by so many across the world. During the meetings held this past week by Secretary of State Kerry and General John Allen with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu along with military and civilian leaders in Jerusalem and Palestinian Authority Chairman Abbas and Palestinian leaders in Ramallah a peculiar problem was encountered that was probably as unexpected as it was revealing. Where the Israeli delegation spent hours discussing ways that the plans could be implemented and exchanging ideas and working towards implementing some version of a plan which could be acceptable to all involved while when the same discussion was attempted with the Palestinian leadership every single item, suggestion, and iota of all the plans and security arrangements were outright rejected and denounced completely and unilaterally. Then, adding insult to injury, Chairman Abbas, immediately after the end of the meeting with Secretary Kerry and his delegation, held a press conference where he stated the minimal demands the Palestinians are willing to accept. The demands include having Israel, at a minimum, being forced to surrender every iota of occupied lands won in the Six Day War of 1967, surrendering over half of Jerusalem as the Palestinians claim it as their ancient Capital City and Israel must accept millions upon millions of refugees and their descendants who fled responding to the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem Haj Amin al-Husseini’s instructions to flee allowing the over a half dozen Arab armies and militias to more easily win victory and slaughter all before them in this war they initiated immediately after Israel declared its birth as the Jewish State (also called Israeli War of Independence).

There have already been ramifications resulting from the object lesson provided by Chairman Abbas through his complete refusal to consider compromise in any fashion and rejecting outright to even listen and consider anything Secretary Kerry had to offer. Secretary Kerry has announced that he is considering delaying the next round of terrorist prisoners by the Israelis as a further bribe to influence the Palestinian leadership to even sit with the Israelis while refusing to negotiate honestly. Immediately after this announcement Chairman Abbas made his feelings on the subject known telling the press that he would refuse to accept any delay in the scheduled prisoner release. This is on top of several Palestinian spokespersons having recently stated that their intention was to continue participating in the negotiations until all the prisoners were released and then they would walk out having achieved their aims. All of these negative indications that the Palestinians were not negotiating in good faith and had no intention of reaching any peace with Israel and would only accept the complete eradication of Israel as the Jewish State and nothing less have finally gotten the attention of somebody beyond those who are already advocates of the Israelis. The fact that the rejectionism has broken through and had visible effect on President Obama and the members of his administration is both astonishing and a gift from Heaven. After the difficulties and seeming hostility that emanated from the Obama White House during the early few years of his Presidency that this revelation finally waking them to the reality that Israel is not the impediment to achieving an agreement and that the Palestinians are the refuseniks who refuse to accept anything short of a complete and total Israeli suicidal surrender agreeing to submit to have the Palestinians rule over them and being good little Dhimmi. How long the revealed wisdom emanating from these revelations will last is unknown but friends of Israel can hope as the one thing we have clung to eternally has been hope that the truth would finally shine brightly illuminating the real obstructing committed by the Palestinians. May the new awareness evidenced by Secretary Kerry threatening to delay the scheduled release date for the next group of Palestinian terrorist prisoners held by Israel spread steadily allowing for truth to finally vanquish the slanders, accusations and spurious accusations which have spread universally infecting and poisoning the discourse across the globe.

Should Israel Permit the United States to Guarantee Israeli Security?

United States Secretary of State Kerry returned to Israel for another shot at pushing the peace process forward or to at least appear to be doing so. At Secretary Kerry’s side was General John Allen whose assignment was to add gravitas to the presentation of how the latest American proposals will address all of Israeli security concerns. General Allen was reputed to have been working with aides from numerous branches within the American government in order to fulfill, as Secretary Kerry claimed speaking at the Brookings Institution’s Saban Forum, “He is helping us make sure that the border on the Jordan River will be as strong as any in the world, so that there will be no question about the security of the citizens, Israelis and Palestinians, living to the west of it.” Kerry further noted, “Never before has the United States conducted such an in-depth analysis of Israel’s security requirements that arise from a two-state solution.” There have been rumors that the preliminary plan calls for the United States to secure the borders along the Jordan River and the Jordan Valley. This is supposed to fill Israelis with a sense of secure comfort that the same country which presumably has secured its own southern border with Mexico from illegal immigrants will be securing the Jordan River and Valley preventing smuggling of arms and personnel which could pose a threat to Israel should they reach terrorist operatives in the Palestinian areas. Currently Israelis are supposed to feel assured with the guarantees from Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s promises that he will never allow Israeli security be protected by any third party forces and will always keep Israeli security in the hands of the IDF.

Needless to say all that has been agreed thus far is that they will discuss the different security arrangements without any single plan having been already decided. This probably does not exactly fill every Israeli with great amounts of confidence that things will turn out well. After all the Israeli people have plenty of reasons to not trust any promises of security guarantees being provided by third parties. A quick look at the history of similar promises bears their doubt as valid. After the 1956 war against Egypt allied with Britain and France reacting to Egyptian President Nasser closing the Suez Canal the United Nations placed peacekeepers in the Sinai Peninsula in order to guarantee the peace was permanent between Israel and Egypt. When the very same Egyptian President Nasser demanded these peacekeepers withdraw from the Sinai Peninsula in order to permit him to deploy massing of troops on the Israeli border in concert with Syria doing the same on the Israeli northern border which led to the 1967 Six Day War, the peacekeepers quietly packed up and went back to their home country. Great amount of good the peacekeepers provided as they simply melted away at the first threat of breaking the peace. Then there was the great lack of success by the UNIFIL troops before the Second Lebanon War in preventing Hezballah from placing rockets and building bunkers and other fortification south of the Litani River. Somehow during the Second Lebanon War the Israeli population was bombarded with thousands of rockets and the IDF faced well-fortified Hezballah positions with established command and control systems, anti-tank munitions and bunker systems with interconnected bunkers through extensive underground tunnels. After the Second Lebanon War the United Nations, European Union and the United States declared that the newly doubled in size UNIFIL forces would be much better able to prevent the rearming of Hezballah. Somehow Hezballah has rearmed with estimated multiple times the numbers of rockets and also rockets and guided missiles with greater ranges and larger payloads along with reestablishing their entire interconnected bunker systems and command and control hardware all under the direct inspection of the fortified UNIFIL forces. The European governments are now threatening to pull their troops from serving in UNIFIL as they estimate that such missions are far too dangerous as Hezballah has the ability to devastate the UNIFIL troops at their whim at any time. Lastly, there is the wonderful example of the European Union inspectors who were positioned in the Philadelphia Corridor between Egypt and Gaza after Israeli Prime Minister Sharon disengaged from Gaza removing every single Israeli citizen in the communities within Gaza and removed all IDF forces, equipment and facilities turning the entirety of Gaza over to the Palestinian Authority. The European Union inspectors who were stationed between Egypt and Gaza lasted almost a month before they retreated to their hotels refusing to return to their posts monitoring the border leading to the tunnel systems and other measures of smuggling arms into Gaza which includes among the items the tens of thousands of rockets and mortars that have been fired into Israel since the 2005 disengagement by Israel from Gaza and the disappearance of the European monitors. Unbelievably enough, the Egyptian military is currently providing some of the best security over their border with Gaza since the Israelis were convinced to trust Western third party security personnel to safeguard that border.

The big question is what would be the signs that the Israeli government is actually going to make the very same mistake and allow the United States to be the third party which guards the Jordan River and Valley preventing smuggling of arms and terrorists into the Palestinian state should one be formed either through negotiations or by forced application by the United States, United Nation or whatever entity is used to implement a “fair and balanced and secure solution”. The first signal that such a deal may be in the offing has already been committed. The signal that this tragedy has moved one step closer, even closer than it was when Tzipi Livni was placed in charge of negotiations with the Palestinian Authority, was when Yair Lapid of the Yesh Atid Party announced this week that he would be willing to back Israel taking bold steps in order to make peace with the Palestinians even if it meant breaking with Naftali Bennett and his Jewish Home Party and siding with Prime Minister Netanyahu in replacing them with recently elected Isaac Hertzog and his Labor Party which supports taking any risks necessary in order to reach a peace, any peace under any stipulations. The next step would likely be commentary coming from the more progressive members and Ministers of the Knesset who believe that bold moves and serious sacrifices may be a necessary step if it would bring a lasting peace and still guarantee Israeli security complaining that Naftali Bennet or members of his party are an impediment to reaching a peace which is just around the corner if only these hardliners would stop placing obstacles preventing meeting the necessary preconditions demanded by Palestinian Authority Chairman Abbas. Should the Jewish Home Party be removed from the coalition or the Labor Party joins the coalition that would be a sign that the deal is either closed or very close to closed and that the United States is working very hard behind the scenes granting everything even to include partial “Right of Return” for the Palestinian refugees in order to force what appears to be a mutually agreed peace treaty. The time to really begin to worry for Israelis will be when these comments start to include the more stringent Zionists from within the Likud Party, the same party as the Prime Minister. The final sign after which it is a completed deal would be either Prime Minister Netanyahu removes members of the Likud Party from the Knesset for any reasons whatsoever and replaces them with known Likud Party members who have advocated peace at almost any sacrifice. Hopefully we will not see the same ploy which predicated the Gaza disengagement and Prime Minister Netanyahu forms a new party taking members from Likud, Labor, Yesh Atid, other parties and formerly unaligned politicians or former military or security commanders forming a core group around which the new government can do whatever is demanded in order to comply and bend before the United States pressures and make what will necessarily be a fateful and terrible mistake which will result in another Gaza disengagement on steroids, massive steroids. Should a deal appear to be in the making which will place third party forces to guard any border, especially the border along the Jordan River, such a deal would be a disaster in the making as these troops will not last past the first challenge and could be even worse.

Where it would be tragic if the end agreement designed the security forces guarding the Jordan River Valley to be a mixed force with equal numbers of IDF troops partnered with Palestinian Security Forces allowing for mixed teams to man the posts and patrol the border, it could be worse still. This would end the day the Palestinians decided to attack Israel which would be initiated with the murder of the IDF members of the joint patrols and posts. The absolute worst decision would be to have the Jordan River Valley completely patrolled and guarded by United States military personnel. The reason behind this is that the United States might actually feel committed to their promises to secure this border in lieu of having IDF troops on the Jordanian border and remain even after they started to take casualties including fatalities when Palestinian terrorists were committed to attack the American presence. It would not matter to the Palestinian Authority leadership, be they Fatah, Hamas, Islamic Jihad or other Palestinian group, whether the targeted troops in the Jordan River Valley were Israeli infidels or United States infidels, they would celebrate either troops’ murder. This was proven after September 11, 2001, when the Palestinian people held celebrations passing out sweets, honking car horns, shooting guns into the air and other revelry in approval and support of the nineteen al-Qaeda terrorists who attacked the Twin Towers in New York City, the Pentagon in Washington DC and a final forth plane whose passengers stormed the cockpit resulting in crashing the aircraft preventing it from striking whatever was its target. Eventually, as casualties mounted, the American public would begin to demand the mission be aborted as they do not want their young men and women dying to protect Israel. Should the government of the United States continue to honor the agreement they foisted upon Israel and the casualties mount the American people would begin to resent Israel and some would transfer their resentment of Israel into anti-Semitism. Eventually the Palestinians would mount and succeed in a horrendous attack on the United States peacekeepers killing an unacceptable number to the American public who would be revolted by the continuation of the mission and the results could turn ugly with some using this as an excuse to act on their anger against Jewish targets in the United States. It would be inevitable that some would blame the Jews in the United States for forcing the United States government to protect Israeli lives sacrificing American troops’ lives; they would finally be able to honestly claim that American troops were being placed in harm’s way to protect Israel. There could only be very troublesome results and the Israeli leadership must never allow third party troops be placed on her borders, especially United States troops as if we desire to retain the friendship of the American people we cannot allow them to make sacrifices in our stead. May none of the events described through much of this article ever come to fruition.
