The Same Tired Old Accusations Against Israel

These overly-worn accusarial slurs still echo throughout much of the world’s leftist media and taints their politics just as deeply. One cannot be a Zionist, a supporter of Israel or one who is proud that Israel is the home of the Jewish People without also being labeled a fascist, racist and a supporter of Jewish supremacism. Such labels are reserved, as it seems, for any and all those who believe that the Jewish State, that Israel has every right to exist and the names become even more shrill if you believe that the world should live up to the promises made to the Zionist Congress and the Jewish People at the end of World War I when the map of the world, or at least of central and eastern Europe, the Middle East and northern Africa were being redrawn. Where these names go astray of the realities is a matter of deep division. Those who demand that Israel be torn down and returned to the Arabs as the Jews have become a threat to their peaceful neighbors is such a falsehood that if it was not so vile and such a threat would be laughable. Supporting Israel does not make one a fascist any more than a Frenchman supporting France, the British supporting Britain, a Chinese person supporting China, an India person supporting India or an American supporting the United States. But at least when it comes to the United States, Europe and Israel, if one is even the slightest to the right politically than the far left, they are considered to be first and foremost a racist and next they are accused of being fascistic. In this current political climate, anyone who displays the slightest passion for their homeland and avers their patriotism are no longer nationalistic, that is too soft, gentile and moderate a designation; these people must be referred to such that they are extremely dangerous and aberrant to be acceptable in decent company. Anyone who has such love for their nationality, religion or any other identifier is automatically a pariah and must be called out. They are to be deemed any and everything derogatory which one can label them and it always starts with racist and fascist.

The first things one need know are some facts. Israel is a multi-racial, multi-ethnic nation which is home to numerous religions including having one of the two shrines of the Baha’i faith (the other is in India) which includes a gorgeous landscape (see below). In the late 1970’s, Prime Minister Menachem Begin accepted for Israel to accept approximately three-hundred-sixty Vietnamese boat-people granting them full citizenship as Jewish memory includes the ordeal of the voyage of the damned, the voyage of the MS St. Louis, and as such felt a duty to do that which our little nation was able. Further, Judaism is a multi-racial religion. Jews are a people, a religion, a nation and a family. The family has accepted many who wished to join by converting to Judaism, but mostly we are the descendants of Abraham, Izaak, Jacob and his twelve sons who make up our tribal identities, though ten of the tribes were conquered and lost to us until quite recently when many of these tribes which had retained much of their original ties to Judaism started to return to us in Israel. Basically, referring to a person who identifies with the Jewish faith and is supportive of Israel as a racist is simply wrong and quite inaccurate. So, what about the accusation that supporters of Israel are fascist?

Bahá'í Gardens in Haifa

Bahá’í Gardens in Haifa

Accusing anyone who supports Israel as a fascist is as ridiculous as calling any person who identifies and is proud of their heritage and ties with a certain nation as a fascist. Fascists are a political persuasion which is completely independent of any national heritage. But then we read and hear all too regularly the accusation that President Trump is a fascist. Fascism, according to WikipediA is defined as “a form of radical authoritarian ultra-nationalism, characterized by dictatorial power, forcible suppression of opposition and strong regimentation of society and of the economy, which came to prominence in early 20th-century Europe.” It is most often attributed to the Axis Powers of Germany, Italy and Japan though Japan was not fascist but was a monarchical system under the Emperor. The label fascist is used today as a derogatory reference to anyone who opposes internationalism, the erasure of borders, the breaking down of Western dominance and is supportive of Judeo-Christian ethics which has been the basis of Western Culture. The term is most often used to force those opposed to the ultra-liberal leftism into having to defend their beliefs where anything they might claim to support their nationalism is simply redefined as proof of their being a fascist. Loving one’s country, ethnic background, religion or history does not make one a fascist otherwise the vast majority of the world would consist of tiny little fascist running all over the face of the planet. This accusation is used largely and almost solely by people to degrade the Ethno-European world plus Israel. This was the label leveled against Marine Le Pen and her National Front Party. Where she and her party are nationalist, the correct political term for their views is populist, but populist sounds friendly, thus the retagging of any populist party or politician as fascist. This was also the case with Donald Trump whose platform, while not exactly a typical Republican platform, was a populist platform, but that, of course, makes him a fascist to those who opposed his candidacy and has continued as they oppose his Presidency and everything he has done. Right wing and nationalist politicians cannot escape the tagging as fascist and even should they support some policies which their opposition would normally approve or even tout as their own, they will be opposed and labeled fascist simply because they are not being performed by the right people.

When it is concerning Israel, they are also called oppressors of the Arabs. This is false on virtually every level. The Arabs who are citizens of Israel enjoy every right as any other Israeli including Jews, Druze, Bedouins, Muslims, Christians and many others as are listed here by WikipediA. The immediate response to anyone arguing with this reply to the charge of being the evil oppressor is that they mean the Palestinian Arabs. This argument is even more ludicrous as even the NYT admitted recently and we covered in our article from earlier this week, namely that the Palestinian Arabs are not under Israeli rule but are governed by their own governance. They are hardly occupied as no Israelis are permitted to even go shopping in the Palestinian ruled areas and there are warning signs informing Israelis, specifically Jews, that entering these regions could be very hazardous to their health (see image below). By law, Israelis are forbidden from entering the regions under Palestinian rule. That includes Area A within the Shomron and especially Gaza. Area A is administered by the Palestinian Authority under the seeming dictatorial rule of Mahmoud Abbas and Gaza is ruled by Hamas and is completely independent from Israel as of August of 2005 and the disastrous Gaza Disengagement when Israel removed every vestige of an Israeli presence right down to reinterring the deceased buried within Gaza. The occupation is part of the Big Lie being propped up through multi-billion dollar Arab League propaganda, nothing else.

Claiming that Israel is a fascist entity is as ridiculous as claiming that the United States is fascist, Britain is fascist, Poland is fascist and we could continue listing democratic nations but perhaps you get the idea. Israel is a parliamentary democratic nation where on Tuesday, April 9, 2019 Israelis, all Israelis who wish to vote, will go to the polls and choose the card of the party which they wish to lead the nation, or at least gain sufficient mandates (Ministerships in the Knesset) that the ruling coalition will seek to include them so as to form a coalition with sixty-one or greater mandates of the one-hundred-twenty seats of the Knesset. That is hardly fascist, especially when one considers the plethora of parties from which to choose. Some parties will group themselves so they are assured of breaking the threshold for seating Ministers with negotiations as which party gets to have which number in the submitted list. It gets complicated and sometimes very messy. There are Arabs serving in the Knesset, Arabs serving on the bench, even the Supreme Court, and Arabs working in virtually every field within Israel. Hardly oppressing them as the accusation goes.

Concerning the Palestinian Arabs in particular, there are things which would shock the average person protesting the Israeli occupation. The most prized jobs for Palestinian Arabs who live under the Palestinian Authority are those in Israeli companies, most of these in the areas which the Oslo Accords left under complete Israeli control, Area C of the Shomron. Two of these have made the news in the past year and perhaps their stories would provide a little insight. The more recent one was the shooting terrorist act in the Barkan Industrial Park committed by one of the Palestinian Arabs with the necessary pass to enter and work in Israeli territories who entered his workplace and tied up and murdered two employees and severely injured a third before fleeing back into the Palestinian areas. As soon as the area reopened, the Palestinian Arab employees returned to work as did the Jewish employees with many exchanging condolences and expressing their loss at the hands of this individual. The other is a lesson for all of those supporting the BDS Movement against Israel. The BDS Campaign targeted SodaStream as well as their spokeswoman, Scarlett Johansson, over the fact that their main production facility was located in Area C which are mislabeled as occupied territories, a more accurate label might be contested territories but the reality is the Oslo Accords awarded this region to be Israeli. When SodaStream required a new and larger facility, they took the BDS pressure into their consideration and built their new plant inside the Green Line, or within recognized Israel, another misnomer because the Arabs do not recognize anything as being Israel and they demand all of Israel be given to them. This has been their demand and their reason for rejecting every bid to establish peace, as they believe that the world will eventually force the Jews to surrender Israel to them and then the Jews will be forced to flee. They have an idea for a solution for any Jews who are unable to find another nation to take them in, let us just say that it very closely matches the Nazi solution to the Jews except the Arabs plan on completing their solution in under a day. When SodaStream built the new factory, five-hundred Palestinian Arabs lost their jobs as they could not attain permanent passes for entering across the Green Line. Such passes are usually temporary and granted for medical treatments. SodaStream executives attempted to get at least three-hundred-fifty passes for the majority of their Palestinian Arab employees, but only seventy-four met the stringent security standards.

Then, lastly, there are the innumerable terror attacks by Palestinian Arabs and the incessant demands that Israel return the land they stole and allow the reestablishment of Palestine. Israel never fought a war with any nation called Palestine. Israel has fought Jordan, Egypt, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia and militias from the Arab League, the Mufti of Jerusalem and the Muslim Brotherhood. These were the Arab militaries which invaded Israel on the morning she was born with the genocidal intent to murder every Jew in Israel. This was stated well by Azzam Pasha, Secretary-General of the Arab League at that time who stated, “It will be a war of annihilation. It will be a momentous massacre in history that will be talked about like the massacres of the Mongols or the Crusades.” Since then Israel has fought wars with the nations of Syria, Jordan, Egypt and Lebanon which at times were supported by units from other Arab League nations but none were called Palestine. The truth is that there has never been a nation called Palestine in all of history. Further, there has never been anyone other than Israel who has used Jerusalem as their capital city. Jerusalem is not even mentioned in the Quran, and that includes Mohammad’s nighttime trip on flying horses. That trip was described as his initially going to the furthest Mosque, that is where the popular name for Mosques as al-Aqsa originates, and there are many including one in Philadelphia. When Mohammad died there still was yet to be a Mosque in Jerusalem or anywhere in what today is Israel including Gaza and the Shomron. There never has been a Palestine and, Hashem willing, there never will be a nation called Palestine or if one must exist, it will not be within the lands promised Israel. Israel has agreed to allow for a nation of Palestine and the first time they ended up calling it Transjordan which later became Jordan, the next was in November of 1947 when Israel agreed to the United Nations partition plan, the Arab League refused that outright, again in 2000 in conjunction with President Clinton’s efforts, Yasser Arafat refused that time, and in 2008 in the closing months in office by President George W. Bush which Mahmoud Abbas immediately rejected. Israel has not been the problem, the Arab demand that Israel be erased from the map has been the problem, is the problem and will continue to be the problem as President Trump likely already realized and is why if he ever produces the Plan of the Century, it will be rejected by the Arabs and Israel will be blamed. We have been to this dance before and we know the music and the steps and we are tiring of the deceit. If only the world would awaken and realize that it is not always the Jews fault, and we are not racist or fascist.

Why Israel Arab Conflict is Unsolvable

We sometimes have heard that solving the Israel Arab conflict cannot be that difficult if only Israel would sacrifice for peace. We wonder, does sacrifice for peace include returning the Sinai Peninsula to Egypt? That is Israel surrendering an area more than two and three-quarters the size of the nation of Israel itself. Somehow, the world appears to have forgotten this small fact. When Israel made peace with Egypt, Egypt refused to take the return of Gaza and disassociated from the people who had lived under Egyptian rule for almost twenty years before the Six Day War. Perhaps Israel should be thankful that Egypt did not demand that Israel accept the population of the Sinai Peninsula as Egypt really just wanted the oil wells anyway. Then Israel made a peace with Jordan and offered them the return of the “West Bank” (Shomron or Judea and Samaria) and eastern Jerusalem, Jordan refused them both but also disassociated from the Arabs residing there who had Jordanian citizenship, but that was cancelled. A great number of those residing in the area Jordan refused included people forcefully relocated by Jordan across the Jordan River into the region left to Israel. Jordan has refused to accept the return of any part of the people in the Shomron including those they relocated there in order to Arabize the region beyond anything Israel could ignore and so as to cause difficulties for Israel in the future. Then there is Syria with whom Israel is still at war but with whom they had an armistice agreement. That agreement had been breached, broken and shattered by Syrian and Iranian forces firing into Israel with snipers, launching rockets into Israel, flying armed drones over Israel and firing anti-tank missiles at IDF and civilian vehicles on the Golan Heights, yet people demand that Israel return the Golan Heights and change this to all of these projectiles aimed across the northern one-third of Israel at farmers, motorists, towns and cities just as was the case before the Six Day War when Syria owned the region. The difference is that weapons have become more accurate, have increased range, and carry larger warheads which would all but vacate the entire region within Israel, as it would become unlivable. These are the facts which, despite some debate about them, are basically uncontroversial. Finally, there is the demand that Israel returns Palestine to the Arab Palestinians.

Israel from Mandate to Six Day War to Currently after Gaza Disengagement

Israel from Mandate to Six Day War
to Currently after Gaza Disengagement

Let us start with the last one first as it is the easiest to discuss and the least of the actual problems. When was there this Arab nation of Palestine that Israel stole from these Arabs? Simple answer, it never existed beyond being the name of a region given to it by the Romans when they dispersed the Jews, decided that Judea and Jerusalem were far too Jewish, and changed the names of the province, that is Roman province long before any Arab stepped into these lands and definitely not a nation unto itself. Judea became Syria Palaestina, while Jerusalem was renamed to Aelia Capitolina. The British and League of Nations referred to the region from which Britain carved out Jordan east of the Jordan River and Israel west of the Jordan River was referred to with its Roman nomenclature of Palestine, which was still a region and not a nation and from which two nations were actually carved. There has never been any nation named Palestine and Aelia Capitolina was a provincial capital which was abandoned within the first year as the people left to handle this region return to Damascus and performed their duties from there. Even as late as 1867, as reported in Mark Twain’s writings in “The Innocents Abroad,” or “The New Pilgrims’ Progress,” in the section on his visit to the holy lands, the description was less than flattering and told of a land mostly abandoned to weeds and scrub brush with hardly any inhabitation outside of Jerusalem, and even his commentary about Jerusalem was less than flattering. One can only wonder what Mark Twain would have to say now, just over one-hundred-fifty years later, seeing the Tel Aviv metropolitan region and the others including Jerusalem; they are all a far cry from the desolate little sleepy region where lethargy appeared to be the rule except for a few intrepid farmers, possibly the earliest Zionists who set to work draining swamps, channeling water and irrigating the lands starting farms as soon as they arrived. But that is claimed to have little bearing on the modern situation, because the reasons that these problems exist are not of concern to the world, it is something else.

The claim that Israel must sacrifice for peace is ludicrous. There are so many real reasons that peace has not been reached which have nothing to do with Israel past the simple fact that she exists. The Khartoum Resolution of September 1, 1967, and its three no’s, “no peace with Israel, no recognition of Israel, and no negotiations with Israel,” has been the Arab position. Arafat, then Abbas, were permitted to negotiate providing they swore to accept the other two no’s and work towards the day when Islam defeats the Jews and Israel is no more. There is a small problem which is stated only in Arabic, a language which the Western media appear incapable of finding a translator, even Google, that any peace would simply be the first peace to be followed soon thereafter by a new round of terrorism, a new set of demands, and a new peace process, which if it should ever reach a peace, would be followed a few months later by another explosion of terror, new demands, peace talks, peace, violent terror, new demands, you get the picture. The aim is stated to destroy Israel in stages if necessary, but the end result is to destroy Israel. The only solution, you could call it the Arab final solution, is for the Jews leaving by whatever means are necessary, including exhuming the dead to take with them, and all of Israel belonging to the Arabs, because that is the way the world works and the Quran demands such. No Arab or Muslim land can ever fall under somebody else ruling it, and most certainly not the accursed Jew. That is the base position from which the Arab world had negotiated since the first day of Israeli existence when the armies of over a half dozen Arab nations poured over the borders, some were already operating in the Arab neighborhoods and farms inside of Israel that morning, and set to destroy all of Israel and every Jew along with it. The Arab war of 1948 was best described by Azzam Pasha, Secretary-General of the Arab League at that time who stated, “It will be a war of annihilation. It will be a momentous massacre in history that will be talked about like the massacres of the Mongols or the Crusades.” His reference was to the Islamic defeat of these two wars, though their victory over the Mongols came after nearly a century of Mongol rule over large parts of their Arabia. That was their intentions then and those are still their intentions now.

There is a dirty little secret which most, if not all, the people from the United States State department to the European Union to the numerous European national leaderships, to the co-conspirators at the United Nations to the several United Nations Agencies and virtually every two-faced, double-talking expert on the Middle East do not speak. This little secret is that it is not Israel which is preventing the making of a peace agreement. They know the Arabs turned down half of the lands west of the Jordan River in late November of 1947 when the United Nations offered just such a deal and the Zionist congress agreed but the Arab League steadfastly refused as they were going to wipe those snotty little Jews off the map a few months later, or so they believed. Egypt was offered Gaza and Jordan was offered the West Bank, both declined to retake lands they knew did not belong to them plus they were to be used to destroy Israel as the plan was already hatched. The Arabs were offered over ninety percent with land swaps and Eastern Jerusalem towards the end of the Clinton Presidency and this was refused by Yasser Arafat. The Arabs were offered over ninety percent with land swaps and Eastern Jerusalem towards the end of the George W. Bush Presidency and this was refused by Mahmoud Abbas. The Trump “Deal of the Century,” which century might be how long it will take to formulate, has already been refused by Mahmoud Abbas without seeing the offer. Abbas has all but told President Trump to take a hike and is swearing he will refuse any peace deal which will be presented by President Trump. Well, that is so much for and chance for peace in the immediate future. Wait, you say, how about President Trump working with Jordan, Egypt and Saudi Arabia? Well, Jordan has refused him, twice that we have counted, Egypt has turned him down unceremoniously and in no uncertain terms regarding Gaza, and Saudi Arabia backed away from any agreements they had made when it became a part of the deal that they take in some of the Arab Palestinians.

The problem comes down to a simple problem, what to do with the Arab Palestinians, not just those living within Israel but the over five-million so-called Palestinian refugees. These refugees numbers just over six-hundred-thousand in 1949 at the end of the Arab War to Annihilate the Jews which was renamed the Israeli War of Independence so it would appear that Israel started a war for their independence and not they gained it legally and the Arabs attacked with the intent of wiping the lands clean. These refugees had children and unlike any other refugees, these children became refugees. These children had children who had children who have had or some day will have children who will have children and so-on ad infinitum. That is how over three-quarters of a century six-hundred-thousand refugees become over five-million refugees instead of a problem already solved. One need understand that the Arab refugees, far from anything to do with Israel, are not handled under the regular United Nations Refugee Agency, they are handled under the UNRWA, the agency which President Trump ended United States monetary support. The rest of the world jumped up and are supporting them for the time being. This energetic rush to aid anything to harm Israel will cool and UNRWA will be making desperate calls for aid from anywhere and demanding that the United States pay it fair share. You have to love all the uses that the political types get out of the phrase, “pay their fair share.” You hear it about taxes, “We just want the (super) rich to pay their fair share,” or the United Nations and its myriad of agencies whenever the United States defunds them, “We just want the United States, the richest nation in the world, to pay their fair share,” or the newest version, “Making sure foreign investors pay their fair share,” and after any oil spill or ecological disaster we hear about the company which has already suffered a blow to their income with the losses incurred by the event of the ecological disaster, yet we hear, last one, we promise, “We just insist that aggrieved company pay their fair share to clean up the effects of the disaster.”

There will be no solution to the Israel Arab Conflict for the foreseeable future. The world will need to be reawakened to the small problem caused by the Quranic promise that the Muslims will rule the world and Islam and the surrender to Allah will become the universal faith which every person on the planet will come to follow. The Muslims, on the strength and timing of the Arabs as they emerged from the Arabian Peninsula and conquered much of the Middle East including the lands under Persian Rule and across northern Africa taking the lands of Egypt and the Berbers, crossed into Europe at Gibraltar and were finally turned back by George the Hammer Martel at the battle of Tours. They took the Levant and were stopped by the imposing walls of Constantinople. The Ottomans made two attempts at Europe with both being turned back at the gates of Vienna with one being accomplished almost completely to the merit of the King of Poland, John III Sobieski, who commanded the Holy Roman Army plus the entirety of the Polish Army leaving his nation unprotected and depending on the promises of the other leaders that they would leave his lands safe. Surprisingly, they kept their word. These were the past attempts by the forces of Islam to conquer the world and turn every knee to bend before Allah. This means that there have been at least three or four attempts by Islam to conquer Europe, but Christianity stood and held. When the Crusaders would take Jerusalem, they often would murder the remaining Muslims and a fair percentage of the Jews. When the Muslims would take Jerusalem, they would murder most of the Christians and a fair percentage of Jews. The number of Jews usually was proportional to the casualties and amount of time and effort was required to take Jerusalem. The Arabs desire taking Jerusalem and making it completely Jew free. They wish to do this to the entirety of Israel. Their plan does not necessarily include any rescue for the Jews. They do not plan on making such necessary. The terrorists scream slogans calling for the eradication of the Jews and the Jewish State. This is their desired solution to the Arab Israel Conflict. They refuse to make peace because their solution does not include peace unless it is rest in peace, and I doubt their Jewish victims will even get that if they were ever to succeed. The Israelis know the score but the world would rather pretend that the Jews are the problem. Our best guess is old habits are very hard to break, and much of the world has been blaming the Jew for every misfortune for so long that they just simply fell back on the stock reason that there is a problem, the Jew did it. The only thing the Jews did was reclaim their ancestral homelands, the lands and city, Jerusalem, which they have prayed over, prayer for, prayed about almost every single day of their lives. We have been saying Jerusalem, next year we will celebrate this day in Jerusalem. Even a recalcitrant Jew knows the desire for next year in Jerusalem. Now that it can be right now in Jerusalem, we, as Jews, are not returning to dreams when we hold the prize in our hands. That goes for Jerusalem and every part of Eretz Yisroel.

Why Begrudge Us this Little Haven

One thing history has taught is that even when the Jewish People come to a nation at its behest and help to modernize that nation, with time everything which went or will ever go wrong is heaped upon us along with the vile degradations and then the threats to our lives. This has occurred throughout Europe, the Middle East and North Africa. It has happened across South and Central America, Russia and has even come to parts of Asia despite there being next to nothing resembling a large Jewish population. It has come to the United States and Canada, though in a less obvious measure, and thus has largely been swept under the carpet, for now. There was the infamous General Order No. 11 (1862) given by Major-General Ulysses S. Grant of December 17, 1862, during the American Civil War which ordered the expulsion of all Jews in his military district comprising areas of Tennessee, Mississippi, and Kentucky. The claim came that he was attacking the Black Markey in the region which he just knew had to be a Jewish operation. Yes, President Lincoln immediately rescinded the order, but the days or weeks or whatever it took to have the order received in Washington DC and then be removed, brought to the attention of the President, the rescinding order written and that sent back to General Grant and then the slow, probably intentionally slow, implementation walking back the original orders, well, as you might suspect the time that took proved detrimental to a good number of Jews of the region. Grant’s General Order No. 11 is noteworthy in that it depicts the tainting of one’s logical thought processes by the disease of anti-Semitism. An individual or group suffering this ailment automatically associates everything nefarious, underhanded, evil or illegal immediately into some Jew plot and more often than not, for monetary gain. Proof, with anti-Semitism your proof is very simple; it is the Jews, what else could one suspect. This has been repeated throughout human history for as long as the Jews have existed, which is pretty much throughout human history. It has happened in every form from the framing of Alfred Dreyfus by the elites of the French Army to cover their own perfidy, to Hitler, to Pharaoh of Egypt, to the Tsars of Russia, to the Spanish Inquisition, to Muhammad and the Jews of Medina and on and on. One can only conclude that eventually, every group will desire to disassociate themselves from the Jews and then cast them off by exile, murder or even attempting genocidally wiping them from the Earth as Hamas, Iran and others in today’s world proudly declare.

Any normative peoples would have decided that, as a rule, they were less than desirable and would have separated from the rest of humanity long ago. We were not even permitted this as the world knew from exactly which little piece of lands we originate. They all knew exactly where we would have gladly moved, at least the majority of us, and made a go of it in a land half desert and half swamp with large boulders strewn throughout the swamps and hilly lands. It was carefully laid out in many languages all from the claimed original Greek copy of texts presumed to have been compiled during the Babylonian Exile, our third as a people with the Egyptian Exile chronicled in that book and the Assyria Exile chronicled in later books which took Ten of the Tribes and they became the Ten Lost Tribes, some of whom are returning in this modern era. Actually, most nations have chronicled parts of our history as you wrote them into your laws and were proud of your acts. Christian, Muslim, it made little if any difference and both blame that the other was worse to the Jewish People and they only did that which was absolutely necessary and needed. Jerusalem destroyed and Israel broken in exile would provide for needed introspection and broadened experience eventually spreading Jews throughout the world and assuring their survival, even if often under hardships. Even Muslim amongst Muslim and Christian amongst Christian, each would finger point to those who were more to blame, and when torture and murder are the acts of the day and you are the target, it matters little who was worse and who was better, you were all barbarous when it came to the Jewish People. True, not always and some even claimed to have mended their ways, for now, because we have learned that our acceptance is always temporary and depends on times being good and nothing going wrong, and even then, ours is a precarious perch.

Jerusalem Destroyed and Israel Broken in Exile

Jerusalem Destroyed and Israel Broken in Exile

When a people live always waiting for the other shoe to drop, they get nervous and react in various ways. Some become differential and make themselves small. A few make them selves threatening ready to take on even the most insignificant slight. Some become conspiracy conscious seeing malice behind every door. Some become the jolly joker in attempts to endear themselves. Most just work hard, work quiet, are industrious, avoid standing apart, are agreeable to a fault and become a form of every-man where they have no identity and allow others to assign whatever identity they prefer. These are all forms of defensiveness and are mechanisms one adopts to cope. All rob one of their real identities which they mask behind their façade. This also results in a people to become very adept at any profession and often they will excel at what in the early days was a disreputable means of making one’s living and eventually became the mainstay of economies. Such an example is what was forced upon the Jews in Medieval Europe and the Islamic worlds, money-lending. That practice which was denied to the religious but so necessary for commerce and running a nation became the forerunner of the banking industry of today which now it is claimed the Jews took over through devious means. The devious means was having it thrust upon us by those who would not soil their hands or reputations but had no problem soiling our hands and reputations as we had no reputations of note and who cared about the Jew lending money, the most dishonorable of affairs. We were denied wealth and title and thus denied ownership of land so we became tailors, cobblers, smiths and these led to the other more specialized trades with time. We were the People of the Book and also people of books as we, as a people, were literate and taught our young to read and write at an early age. They were required first to learn Hebrew so they could pray, and also Arabic or Aramaic to read the early commentaries. Then we taught them the language of the nation in which we resided, and the then might learn the language of the land from where Grandfathers were chased. This led to the Jewish People become international merchants and known for learning languages easily. This led to Jews running import-export businesses and large retail networks and now on-line shopping. This from the little tailor’s shop where the spectacled little man sewed for a living five-hundred years ago and now it is Levi-Straus because he saw the need for a well made and rugged work pants for the men on the railroads and in the mines and on the plains. But even these reputed giants will shrink when the pogroms come. They will be forced to flee, yes, eventually even from the United States and many can see that approaching already, others refuse to see, some always refuse to see.

Give us a safe space of what had been determined to be lands worthless to nearly everybody else, well, until the late nineteenth century. Read about Israel circa the mid nineteenth century in Mark Twain’s “Letters from the Holy Lands”, a sub-part of his Travels Abroad writings. Twain describes a barren land where people are as sparse as is the vegetation. Others writing for the British after World War I describe Malaria and an inhospitable place. Twain describes the few Arabs and Jews he met and claimed one could more often than not differentiate between the two people simply by observing their level of industriousness. The British Home Office described what they saw and often they saw that it was far easier to throw the Jews out of their homes and dispossess them than it was to fire one shot into the air from a sidearm to break-up an Arab riot. One might conclude that many British sought any reason to try to dispossess the Jews of these lands, often just for spite. The French sent most of their Jews from their Mandate to the British Mandate, as they had no need or claim to need the Jews. The French formed two states, Syria for the Arabs and Lebanon for the Christians, though that was not the final word on the matter as the Arabs had their own ides, Syria for the Arabs and Lebanon for the Arabs. The Arabs won and the Christians are continuing to flee from Lebanon when they are able. The British did all they could to try and prevent the Jews from ever forming their state of Israel but the Jews are sometimes an insistent group. The British formed Jordan for the Arabs and placed as many Arabs as they believed would prevent any Jewish state, but they miscalculated as the Mufti of Jerusalem called for the Muslims to leave Israel so the invading Arab armies from six nations and additional militias could simply cleanse the lands of every person they met. The Mufti promised them they could then enrich themselves on the spoils of the Jews. That was the Arab plan, destroy Israel and it too would be for the Arabs, but something went wrong. Those Jews who were often claimed to have no stomach for a fight or to be timid little people rose to be giants and Israel survived that onslaught.

The world, that of Christians and Muslims, have been working politically for another rerun of the Arabs supposedly slaughtering the Jews of Israel ever since them. There was the Six Day War in June 1967, the Yom Kippur War of October 1973 and a long and slow terror war since the first day of May 15, 1948. There have been numerous means of attempting to gift a state to the Arabs within the legal limits of the Jewish state with the Arabs always holding out for the entirety to be gifted them with the Jews on a platter. We would gladly make a deal with the world, if only they would take it. Give us the region promised with the Jordan River as our eastern border, the Golan Heights in the northeast, and the remainder as it is set in treaties and the United Nations set borders. We will be friendly and those Arabs who wish us harm, well, cannot have them around within our borders, so we will give them to whomever is willing to harbor them. Those who desire to remain we will grant resident alien and allow them to rule their own areas while we retain the lands as part of our state. As legal resident aliens, they will not be permitted votes in our national elections. This has functioned thusfar with the Arabs in Eastern Jerusalem. We will not tolerate terrorism or attacks upon our people of any kind, Jew on Arab or Arab on Jew or intra-fraternal violence. We will share our developments, discoveries, inventions, programming marvels, agricultural inventiveness, crop breeds, advances in medicines, new drugs and all the other beneficial items. The byword will be permit and assist us to living in peace and we will be the proverbial goose that laid the golden egg. You do remember that cutting open the goose led to discovering that it was simply a magical goose, that once killed, it could only be stuffed, roasted and served when it reached a nice golden brown, but no longer would there be golden eggs. Remember that tale, as we can be that goose for the world as it is what we were to strive to become, and we are prepared to give it our best shot. It really would be to everyone’s advantage if we were left in peace on our little plot of lands which one requires a magnifying glass to even find us on the average globe, providing one even knows where to look. But, apparently, even this is too much for much of the world to accept, proof we really have not come anywhere near as far as some claim, and that is truly sad. Hopefully, you will not be all that put out if we hold on to this little piece of land while we await you realizing the benefits of our offer. Call us.
