Barak’s Democratic Union Opposes Judaism and Jewish History

Right up front we feel it necessary to mention that most of our staff belong to Jewish Home and this writer is quite fond of Brigadier General (ret.) Rabbi Rafi Peretz. My support for Rabbi Peretz was greatly enhanced after meeting with him both before and after a Central Committee meeting where all told we probably spoke for at least thirty minutes. In the time I was able to watch him, he never rushed anyone and patiently spoke to all who wished his attention. Many of the other candidates on our Knesset list were far less approachable and most hurried from the meeting as if the building caught fire, exactly what we have come to expect from politicians who unfortunately believe they are more important than the rest of us. Perhaps this, in the end, served him well when he permitted Ayelet Shaked to take his spot at the head of the ticket seeing that polls depict her leading to greater acceptance and more mandates. It was quite interesting that the day after Ms. Shaked took the top spot, the poll showed her receiving four less mandates than predicted when she was not leading the ticket. The earlier polls, in our opinion, were designed to force Rabbi Peretz to step aside while knowing full well that the difference was a mere two to three seats between the two and we figure that it would make a negligible difference in the actual elections. Now, back to our regularly scheduled article.

Ehud Barak heads the Democratic Party and invested great efforts to find another party to ally with so as to assure his making the next Knesset should one ever be formed. The Blue White Party declined his requests, the Labor Party declined his offer, and he finally found one which agreed to accept a merger, and that party was Meretz. Together they will use the moniker of the Democratic Union. A spokesperson for the party released their statement stating, “The education minister this morning is moving a system meant to educate our system another step towards a system devoted to brainwashing,” So, what could possibly have been introduced by Education Minister Rabbi Rafi Peretz that brought such an extreme reaction from our friends at the far left? For that we will quote Rabbi Peretz, the Education Minister, directly. He explained, “The connection to our heritage and history is the bedrock of our existence and is the glue that connects us as a society. We have the duty of education to safeguard it.” Additionally, Minister Peretz added as he spoke to Galai Tzahal on Army Radio, “Judaism is an ocean of wisdom. Students will be exposed to many values, morals and love. These values will help us establish a more values and moral society here.” What could possibly be so sinister in such a curriculum as to be considered brainwashing?

The first item which has to be considered is that both parties in the Democratic Union are a fair distance from supporting the religious world. The majority of their members are either purely atheist or secular humanist with merely the slightest belief in Hashem. They view religion in general and Judaism particularly as threatening to their beliefs and supported lifestyles. Torah morality does not support the many diverse and often indistinguishable genders as proposed by the leftists. Their usual depiction that Torah is hateful is the ban on sodomy. Of course, they never couch what Torah states as considering sodomy as a sin but claim that Torah teaches hatred of all gay people. That is so far from the truth. Torah teaches us to love and accept all, particularly all Jews, and to accept and treat all strangers with respect and acceptance asking only that they obey the Noahic Code and live under our rule respectfully. The teaching that sodomy is a sin is not and never was targeting the gay community as it also applies to heterosexual couples, or simply put, it is indiscriminate to sexuality as it bans all forms of sodomy. There is no law or even commentary that we are aware of which teaches Jews to reject gay people and especially no call for their hatred. If only the far left were as kind to the religious our society would be far more homogeneous and caring for each other.

The Democratic Union also complained that Rafi Peretz is ignoring such problems as class size, improve the status of teachers and that Rafi Peretz “introduced the racist Nationality Law into the high school curriculum.” The Nationality Law was passed this last session by the Knesset and as such, the teaching of the law and what it contains and does not contain is of importance as it is amongst the Basic Laws which define Israeli society and governance. The Basic Laws which define Israel are hopefully all taught and discussed by our high school students. Or does the Democratic Union believe that the Basic Laws should be kept a secret. We are willing to bet that students are taught about the number of seats make up the Knesset; how a Prime Minister is chosen; the duties of the President, Prime Minister, Knesset Members and the Ministerial positions with their duties. Further, Torah and the Bible are histories of the Jewish People and their Nationhood. The remaining history of the Jewish People after the Roman dispersion is equally important and deserves a place in the classroom. This is the idea behind the Edmund Burke quote, “Those who don’t know history are doomed to repeat it.” Perhaps the Democratic Union is in favor of making the same mistakes over and over again. Their insistence that the education of our children should be bereft of Torah and Bible which represent almost two thousand years of early Jewish history reaching back to Abraham, Isaak, and Jacob along with Moses the lawgiver and on to Kings Saul, David, Solomon and beyond, the Prophets and Judges and so much more as well as covering the Zionist Movement’s history from before the Balfour Declaration through the British Mandate to independence and the 1948 war to annihilate the Jews and their nascent state and everything since is as ridiculous as it sounds at face value. The Jewish People have near to four-thousand-years of history which would take more than one class to cover. Without the history and all the trial and tribulations we went through and the perils which have struck the Jewish People in the past, how can the next generation avoid these same mistakes without a solid understanding from whence our people came, how we were defined and what ideas and ideals we hold dear? The simple answer is that such would be impossible.

The Secular Humanist idea is to not teach history as it actually happened but to redefine events to fit closely with their brave new world. Their syllabus for most history classes is formulated to highlight minority contributions while ignoring much of the people who formed governments and principles in the lesson plans. I witnessed such with my children in school in the United States in a quite progressive (read far left) area where the Secular Humanist agenda was the mainstay of their curriculum. Her year of American history did not include a single lesson where George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin or any other Caucasian from American history other than Abraham Lincoln and Franklin Delano Roosevelt and very little reference to the Constitution, Declaration of Independence, the Federalist Papers or anything written by Ben Franklin including Poor Richard’s Almanac. There was not a course in world history even offered. We will not even get into the mess which is the result of the newest math except to say that none of it made sense and I majored in math. They were told in algebra to guess until they found the answer, which works great if your answer is a whole number but not so well if the answer is the square root of -9 (which is 3i). Needless to say, we spent a fair amount of time teaching math and additional lessons in American and world history much to their chagrin. There is nothing wrong with teaching additional classes in the history of the Jewish People, both recent and Biblical and from all areas of the Diaspora with the greatest amount of straight honesty as possible (see maps of historic Israel below). This writer stands strongly against softening the history of our people for whatever reason is presented, be it to protect the student’s impressionable mind, to make everything less traumatic, or the real reason, to deny the students the standing to understand from whence they came and their long and impressive history so as to make the student more easily accepting to their newest ideas and concepts as well as believing that Secular Humanism is the most advanced societal philosophy and that Judaism, Torah and the Bible are nothing more than folk tales of little to no importance. Having seen how well such an approach to education in the United States and the products from their institutions of higher learning such as Rashida Tlaib, Ilhan Omar and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez; we would prefer our youth have a better grasp on history and how to shape the future.

Israel Through the Ages

Israel Through the Ages

Never would we want to have any member of a ruling coalition putting forth the mistaken belief that Israel was a present given to the Jews by the European powers as an apology for the Holocaust when the reality is that it was part of the returning of lands to their indigenous peoples. Two of such promises caused the greatest amount of pushback from the Arab world; Israel and Kurdistan, both of which were also opposed by the British who were responsible for establishing both nations. Kurdistan fell when they discovered oil in Mosul and the Iraqi leader promised the British that J. Paul Getty could have the drilling rights. The British did much to mollify Arab opposition but Zionism won out and Israel did not suffer an identical result. Students need to know what lands were promised Israel which are the lands west of the Jordan River, what lands were promised us in the Bible, what lands we controlled at the various stages from the conquests under Joshua to the Greater Israel of Kings David and Solomon and that the term Greater Israel applies to that era of our history and has no meaning to modern Israel. These are some of the vital statistics and facts which our leaders of the future need to know in order to properly lead this precious nation. There are so many other facts which could be listed here, but they can also be found in numerous of our articles. We want future Israelis to have a solid knowledge of their roots both modern and Biblical and the philosophy of and what it means to be a Jew. Judaism is so much more than a religion as it is also a people and a family. Zionism is something to be proud about despite what many leftists claim as they do not believe in nationhood and desire a one world government under the auspices of such as the European Union or United Nations. They desire open borders and an end to the belief in Hashem and all religion for their concept of the perfect future. The future they envision has been attempted on a national scale before and has always resulted in a dictatorial governance and more often than not in mass killings to cull the populations and we will give you one guess who were considered unnecessary in such governance. Yes, we were most often amongst those targeted as it has always been easy to target the Jews as they were often few in number and never had political power under these systems. Atheism is the antipathy of Judaism and it is easy to tell those who believe in Hashem and those who believe that the human beings are the highest power in the universe (until the promised ET’s arrive) and we have seen these types before as they were the Hellenists from Greek culture during the times of Alexander the Great. They worshiped the human form and believed it to be supreme over all else while Judaism also values every human being but believe that every Jew can only be good if they practice being a good and religious people and act accordingly following Torah. We must also teach our children how Judaism and Torah formed much of the basis for civilization and the guiding principles of our Bible were the referenced liberally by Founding Fathers of the United States in the writing of the Declaration of Independence and numerous other principles incorporated in the founding of America. Why anyone would desire to have such knowledge denied to our children is confounding and implies some ulterior motive which often will end regrettably. Knowledge is the aim of education and our history and the founding writings of Torah, Bible, Talmud and the many other writings have a deep level of knowledge and provide a framework for making good and solid decisions. We ask again, why would we wish to deny such to our children?

The Islamic Hatred for Israel and the Jewish People

The hatred for Israel and the Jewish People extends beyond the Arab world to include many of the Islamic world. Iran provides much of that hate which is precisely expressed along with the rationale for the anti-Semitism by Iraqi cleric Abd Al-Salam Zain Al-Abidin said in a broadcast on Al-Naeem TV in the video below. Then there are the former Prime Minister of Malaysia, Mahathir Mohamad, a virtual spitting spring of anti-Semitism using some of the oldest and most offensive commentary when referencing either Israel or the Jewish People. Then there are the near constant rants every Friday in Tehran where some official leads the protest in their chants against Israel. Sometimes Israel is so blessed as to be cursed by the Iranian Supreme Leader Ruhollah Khomeini. We need to give Ruhollah Khomeini credit as he does not use all his energies against Israel, Ruhollah Khomeini also criticizes the United States. We all realize we could go down a list of Islamic world leaders who have made disparaging remarks about Israel, the Jews or both in numerous speeches, but people would not go to any further links, would they?

The above video makes the claim that the reason for the Islamic overriding hatred of the Jews which makes it obvious that Israel as the Jewish homeland is included as a target for their scorn and hate. Unfortunately, that claim is largely a valid claim and the reason why Israel must be destroyed. Israel allowing Jews to have self-rule is beyond the pale and must be terminated as Jews are presumed to be inferior, actually the most inferior peoples and because of this, they must not be permitted to rule even other Jews. According to what many Quranic scholars have interpreted is that Jews require being brought into the fold of Islam and if they refuse to convert, well, then they require eradication. This has been their desire concerning Israel since before Israel declared its independence. Such was best described so succinctly by Azzam Pasha, Secretary-General of the Arab League at that time, who stated, “It will be a war of annihilation. It will be a momentous massacre in history that will be talked about like the massacres of the Mongols or the Crusades.” The Egyptians immediately before the outbreak of the Six Day War referred to the coming battle as their opportunity to drive the Jews into the Sea. Their claims were stated as driving the Jews, not the Israelis. Often those who rant and defame Israel more often refer to Israel as the Zionist Entity or the Jews requiring corrective acts to repair all the problems they have caused as their rule had to cause such failures because the Jews, according to their claims presumably backed by the Quran, are incapable of such higher level thoughts and abilities and require being guided by their Islamic betters.

The Quran also tells the followers of Muhammad that the Jews are their worst enemy and must be fought and defeated in order for their messianic figure to arrive and lead them to ruling the entirety of the world. It is so nice that we Jews are part of their messianic references but it might have been nicer if we would be permitted to live in the post messianic world. Well, actually, other than the Islamic and Christian holy books, Jews would be permitted in any perfected world of the future. This may have something to do with the fact that both Christianity and then Islam hold to replacement theology. The Christians were the replacement of the Jews and then came Islam which was to replace the Jews and the Christians. The Jews returning to their ancient homelands was never supposed to be permitted to return from their exile to reestablish the nation of Israel, the Jewish State. The founding of Israel was initially taken as a direct threat to many Christian and Islamic clerics and leaders around the world. But Islamic leaders are far from the only people of some level of import that express hatred of Israel and Jews generally.

Probably the most well known of these is poised to be the next Prime Minister of Britain after the next election as his Labour Party is considered the likely winner of the coming elections in Britain. We are speaking of Jeremy Corbyn, of course. But he has numerous fellow anti-Semites within his Labour Party which their supposed investigation turned up next to nothing and was a complete whitewashing of their blatant anti-Semitism. Then there are the three little darlings from the United States Congress, Rashida Tlaib, Ilhan Omar and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (pictured below), who have almost performed tag-team anti-Semitism. Congresswoman McCollum’s legislation presumed to be promoting Human Rights with the Ending Israeli Military Detention of Palestinian Children Act which was introduced in November 2017 has now received backing by Congresswomen Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Israel does not detain terrorists or other law breakers who are below age fourteen and only temporarily hold those under sixteen. This act includes people up to age twenty-six as qualifying as child military detention. Israeli soldiers will escort the young back to their home seeking an adult with which to leave them with supervision. Israel expends much effort to obey international laws regarding who is considered a minor and too young to be detained and those who are considered under international law as being responsible for their actions and thus capable of being detained over criminal or terror activities. But why allow Israel being legally within international law when one can redefine the law such that every nation is violating these laws by their definition but their gaze never leaves Israel, all else is inconsequential. That is an obvious setup for producing anti-Semitism when the rules are altered but only for Israel and then used to condemn Israel while ignoring what their alterations to the law makes every nation performing the identical criminal act according to their new definition.

Currently, the deepest and most serious anti-Semitic hatred is just as much political as it is religious and a social societal embedding into a large region and is spreading with Islam across Europe. One has to wonder where those people and politicians who make anti-Semitic commentary and statements think the Jews will go when they feel threatened by the way their society is changing. They are going to head for Israel sooner or later as anti-Semitism growing specifically in northern and western Europe, what some have referred to as old Europe. Threatened Jews are very likely to head directly to Israel, though there will be those who head elsewhere such as the United States or South America or some place they believe they will feel safe. The Jewish Community of Malmo, Sweden, may need to dissolve itself by 2029 following a similar path as the Jewish Community of Umea in northern Sweden which dissolved itself primarily over threats recently. These communities will inevitably end up in Israel even if their paths will be different. Once the vast majority of world Jewry resides in Israel, will this permit the world to finally recognize the necessity of Israel as a home for the Jews or will they attempt to organize the entire rest of the world to assist these hate-filled people in destroying Israel because it holds the majority of world Jewry. What are the odds that once Jews are almost entirely living in Israel will lead to the world finally learning how to live with the Jewish State and finally leave the Jews to take care of themselves? Think it through and recognize that many anti-Semites demand that the Jews go live in Israel and leave the rest of the world to live free of the Jews while others express their anti-Semitism insisting that the Jews not be permitted self-rule and demands that the Jews return to being scattered throughout the nations of the world. Those who have strong dislike for the Jews should get together and decide which is preferable, all the Jews living in their own little country or the Jews spread all over the world in almost every country. Give us a hint so we can end our obvious upsetting of your otherwise copacetic lives. We would be quite pleased if the world would simply accept Israel and tell the Jewish People that if they wish to be allowed to live in peace, all they need do is make Aliyah and move to Israel where they belong. This would make the majority of Jews quite pleased and those who decide they really do not desire living in Israel with the other Jews, well, they probably were not practicing Jews to begin with. The vast majority of Jews would be glad to move to Israel if doing so would be the end of anti-Semitism, but who are we fooling as nobody could leave our little nation alone two millennia plus ago, why should we expect this to have changed. If the world could assure the Jewish People a peaceful existence in Israel, then the world would witness a massive transfer of the majority of the World’s Jews relocating to Israel just as has happened in France and may soon be the case in Britain. Eventually, the Jew hatred of anti-Semitism will spread to the United States as a rise in such problems has already raised its head. Is it too much to ask exactly what the world desires from the Jewish People such that we will no longer be such a difficulty for all too many people?

American Special Envoy for Monitoring and Combating anti-Semitism Reprimands Europeans

Just as Elan Carr’s speech to the confab of European Rabbis was concise and to the point, we will try and match his efficiency in use of words. But first we would like to link to our source for our material. It was refreshing to have a representative if the American Administration finally fighting for the Jews rather than finding excuses to give such efforts the sort shrift. Further, to hear one speaking truth to power, where too many people have been reluctant to call out the Europeans for making laws which basically tell their populations that Jews are no longer welcome, is a relief and gives one hope. In particular, he brought out the examples where nations have targeted Judaism stating, “We have these disgraceful pieces of legislation that ban ‘shechita’ and contemplating banning ‘Brit Mila’ … well let me tell you what this is, this is nothing other than a forced expulsion of the Jewish communities …” The beginning of his presentation was used first as a tribute to the pro-Jewish individual we have in President Trump, likely the most positive in his support and love for the Jewish People and Israel. Then Envoy Carr moved rapidly to the main points he wished to convey.

United States Special Envoy for Monitoring and Combating anti-Semitism Elan Carr

United States Special Envoy for Monitoring and Combating anti-Semitism Elan Carr

About the only thing he missed was how these thus far European acts against vital parts of Jewish life is just another means by which Hashem is performing the In-Gathering of Jews to the Holy Lands. Envoy Carr touched on the fact that the United States is also facing a series of crises of its own makings. He continued noting the universal rise in anti-Semitism worldwide while targeting both left and right wing anti-Semitism stating, “We have a confluence of sources of anti-Semitic hatred, from the ultra-right ethic supremacist movements to the ultra-left, anti-Israel, anti-Zionist movement, to radical Islam – movements that should hate each other far more than they hate everything else, and then united in this age old sickness of humanity known as anti-Semitism.” It was good to hear somebody fight the good fight as we have contributed to with our own miniscule means. We have yet to receive an invitation to anything resembling the stature of those to which Mr. Carr’s words were directed. About the sole omission was admitting that the United States is close behind Europe, where anti-Zionist and anti-Israel positions have been obviously manifest and celebrated on both ends of the Atlantic Ocean. So, here is United States Special Envoy for Monitoring and Combating anti-Semitism Elan Carr with his address given before the annual Conference of European Rabbis, this year in Antwerp.

We like the fact that Envoy Carr gave these European Rabbinical elites much to consider along with suggestions for the treatment of the growing anti-Semitism. Then he presented these Rabbis with direct orders to take back to their synagogues and Yeshivot the words of warning spoken that day. The remedy is what it has always been, education leading to understanding and recognition of the first seeds of anti-Semitism is when the fight needs already have been initiated. Pro-active steps are better than reactive steps, but even reactive steps are better than no steps at all. We would have to agree that the two scourges of Judaism are evidenced within his speech, growing levels of anti-Semitism and assimilation. These have been with the Jews ever since Pharaohs first restricted our use of straw provided by the Egyptians.

Where and when these forms of anti-Semitism will finally end is anybody’s guess. Ours is a traditional figuring that these will remain with us until the arrival of the Mosiah. It cannot be honestly claimed that these problems do not exist within Israel, as they are ever-present. What makes Israel a different case is that the anti-Semitism comes from within our people, the worst and most difficult type to fight. Where does one turn when the core of much anti-Semitism comes from within the tribes? This too is not anything original as such has posed problems from those faced by Moses upon his return down the slopes of Mount Sinai only to find those he was presumably bringing to the Holy Lands were themselves facing a crisis of the faith of the Jewish People in the sin of the Golden Calf. Imagine his dismay as Moses was coming upon this scene of debauchery being performed by the Jewish People. This was sorted out by Moses and set straight before Hashem. If only that had been the last time that the ancient Hebrews turned to a darker side and disappointed Hashem and Moses similarly, yet Moses fought for them repeatedly and properly as molding these people into a unified group capable of living a Torah defined life in the Promised Lands was his task assigned by Hashem. This difficult task was achieved only through weeding out those who were not worthy and educating a new generation which was worthy of receiving Hashem’s gift of the Promised Lands. That is what is so amazing about the Jewish People, we are continually fighting the same battles which largely exist today exactly as they did in the times of Moses. The difference is that today much of the problem could be rectified simply by bringing everyone home and then stand against the onslaught which assuredly would be coming as the Arabs would believe that this was their time to act. That form of overt hatred and anti-Semitism is far more easily fought than is that which rises from within our own ranks. The internal struggles are part and parcel of our eternal struggle and has often seen us as our own worst enemies. When we have first unified our own house, then we can administer to the rest of the world. To do so before that would be premature and leave us open for scorn. May the day soon come when we no longer sew hatred nor war anymore as we will have finally put down anti-Semitism in all of its manifestations and moved beyond primitive and petty hatreds, learning acceptance for all in our midst. Then will come the day when the words of Isaiah 2:3-4 will have come true, and finally we will realize these words.

And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; and He will teach us of His ways, and we will walk in His paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. And He shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into ploughshares, and their spears into pruning hooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.
