French diplomats told Haaretz, describing the situation after the meeting between French envoy Pierre Vimont and Israeli officials Monday where the Israelis restated their refusal to cooperate with the French peace plans, the French representatives stated, “Envoy Pierre Vimont’s discussion with Israeli government representatives in Jerusalem was sincere and difficult. The negative Israeli response was predictable, and we will take Israel’s position into consideration. However, we plan to carry on promoting our peace initiative.” Apparently the French establishment is determined to pursue their designs on formulating a peace proposal based on the defunct two state solution, which they feel and believe is fair and acceptable to the nations they are able to gather by year’s end even if Israel is not included in the formulation of the solution. Israeli refusal is based on the insistence for direct party to party negotiations to resolve any differences. Since Israel rejected the French proposals, the Palestinian Authority (PA) accepted the French proposal and is seeking for the Arab League and Nonaligned Nations (NAM) joining the French negotiation in order to formulate a proposal which will facilitate the eradication of Israel through Arab Palestinian refugee and their descendants right to return to within Green Line (1949 Armistice Lines), all five to eight million making Israel just one more Arab majority state which will vote to deport, murder or otherwise deal with their Jewish minority. The PA is simultaneously seeking a preferably binding Security Council Chapter Seven resolution making all Israeli existence beyond the Green Line illegal under International Law believing that United States President Obama will not veto and might even propose such a measure in his closing weeks before the new President, Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump, a decision still being voted upon as we write, is inaugurated and such returns to being a dicey issue which remains a third-rail issue.

The French, with Egyptian assistance, have already made one run at this which started to be setup back in February 2016 and held in June, with no agreement being accepted by the attending nations and the French vowing to hold a follow-up by the end of the year. France is intending to form a coalition of the willing to reach a completely fleshed-out agreement accepted by and signed onto by the majority of the attending nations whether either concerned party, the Israelis or PA, approve or even accept the invite to join and assist in the drafting a resolution. The French believe that their record as world leaders stretching back century after century to the modern day giving them the right to design, implement and enforce any solution resolved by their conference. The first failed attempt consisted of largely European, Arab and Muslim nations plus the United States breaking-up with acrimony and disagreement leaving the French empty-handed with no two-state agreement to implement by any and all means necessary. How the French plan on forcing any agreement has also not been discussed with some believing that the French conference would be the first step to a Security Council Chapter Seven initiative then enforced using troops under the United Nations command relieving the French of posting an enforcement military contingent. The French even had to pull from the military contingent of NATO as they were unable to continue to provide their share, despite the limited demands being asked, and preferred to sit snug realizing there could be no actual threat to their nation as the Soviet Union threat was gone and any other threat would require hitting France’s neighboring countries thus giving them ample warning time to seek a solution.

All this still begs whether the world is ready to place military troops inside Israeli borders engaging the IDF in a general state of war? Would Russia sign on to a second front in the Middle East against the one nation capable of assisting their efforts in what remains of Syria and working against the Islamic State? What about China? China and India are both trading partners with Israel and potential recipients of military and dual use technologies as well as advanced in crop production, irrigation, resource management, computing sciences and numerous other scientific and social areas of research and development from Israel and these trade and sharing relations, to quote a song, have only just begun. Neither nation is to be expected to turn against Israeli interests making an antagonistic enemy out of a developing friendly nation. Other nations from the Middle East are currently so involved in internal conflicts that their participating in any joint military endeavor is next to or absolutely impossible. Examples include but are not limited to Syria, Libya, Yemen, Iraq, Afghanistan and others. Whether the United States would be even approachable to participate depends heavily on who becomes the next President and which party controls Congress. Canada is currently one nation which can be expected not to attend any such conference, let alone actively participate in any actions against Israel. There are other nations which would never act against Israel even if simply because of emergency aid received often starting early after the emergency and almost always remains being amongst the last to depart and giving a level of aid only matched by the United States. Such nations would include Haiti, Japan, Philippines, Nepal and others. These facts might make fielding a military force capable of engaging the IDF adequately with sufficient force to alter the current realities on the ground. Further, placing troops for making an assault against Israel might be problematic as Jordan and Egypt both have peace treaties with Israel which would preclude their permitting any military force to be mounted from their fronts, their borders.

The dream the French envision will not only be a nightmare for Israel should some agreement be concluded but also a nightmare for any and every nation choosing to join in being resolved to force any two state solution which addresses also the right for the Arab Palestinian refugees being relocated within Israel and splitting Jerusalem. Those opting to provide troops will be on the front lines of the war prophesized to incur the greatest casualties of any war throughout history making the blood and bodies to be piled deep upon the plains at Megiddo and others being cut to pieces against the sharp shards of the injurious bolder which is Jerusalem. The New Testament relays the story in Revelations which describes a final battle between good and evil. This is, in appearance, exactly the plan by the French as they appear to include initiating a war solely for and by themselves where no others are pressed into war. But even if France is foolhardy enough to initiate such a war believing that such a conflict would not soon balloon up and explode in their faces, then they are horribly ignorant or simply foolhardy to such a point taking risks beyond any an informed and sane person would pursue. But then again we are speaking about the forcing of an Arab Palestinian State, which would soon fall to Hamas or Islamic State if not a marriage of the two, against Israel so completely losing one’s sanity is all but required when addressing this problem.

Armageddon Before and After

Armageddon Before and After

Where the French may dare to go has been covered by their leadership though there does appear to be minimal wiggle-room such that they could back down from the threatened result even should the French proposals fail to gain any traction. This determined alternative was stated as France officially recognizing a Palestinian State and potentially delivering them with France even recognizing the actual borders. Should France take such a foolish direction it would all but guarantee a raised level of conflict and a far lesser possibility for the two parties negotiating one with the other. The PA has always had a singular goal from its very start as the PLO (Palestinian Liberation Organization, a terrorist group) back in 1964, a full three years before the Six Day War of June 1967 when the perverse concept that Judea and Samaria along with Eastern Jerusalem including the Old City, the Kotel and the Temple Mount were being occupied by Israel, not liberated from the nineteen years of Jordanian occupation; and that is, was and continues to be the destruction of Israel, all of Israel by any and all means necessary. The reality is that Judea and Samaria were Jordanian occupied lands before their liberation by Israel in the Six Day War. That is the dirty little lie the world has swallowed and used to attempt to assist the Arabs in destroying Israel. Each time a nation recognized an Arab state anywhere in Judea and Samaria and especially any part of Jerusalem the possibility that the Arabs, many of whom were placed there by Jordan during their occupation from 1949 through June 1967 were and remain the real “settlers” as they were in many cases forced to resettle so as to create the appearance of Jordanian ownership. In some cases they were moved into the homes the Jews lost when they were forced from their homes, lands and businesses by the Jordanian troops as Jordan refused to permit a single Jew to remain on their lands during the occupation. That is the reality which in far too many cases is driven by anti-Semitism in the form of either anti-Zionism or anti-Israelism; the three are interchangeable as to hold any one implies your support for the other two.

France is not forwarding anything new and the PA is continuing with their enforcement of the Khartoum Resolution of 1 September 1967 which included the Three No’s. These Three No’s are, no peace with Israel, no negotiations with Israel, no recognition of Israel. This was broken by Egyptian martyred President Anwar Sadat. He broke the silence and negotiated peace with Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin while United States President Jimmy Carter was presumably facilitating but later it was learned that Carter kept pressing Sadat to demand more of Israel and almost cost the two nations’ peace. President Carter was a virulent anti-Israel politician and thought Egypt should have demanded the Israelis return every inch of land and admits the Arab refugees and their children and children’s children making Israel simply another Arab state. Sadat was more interested in making a real and lasting peace. He attained his vision before the Muslim Brotherhood had succeeded in assassinating this man with a vision. That has been a problem in the Arab and much of the Muslim lands, few leaders have visions of peace and there lies the wall the French will hit. The question is will they learn or simply recognize a state where the sole desire is the destruction of an existing state and after that returning to their respective tribes leaving the land barren again, as it was in the latter half of the Nineteenth Century when the first Zionists returned joining the remnants of the Jewish Israelite civilization still residing in Jerusalem, Hevron, Shechem and throughout the Galilee, Judea, Samaria and even the Negev Desert. There is another reality; the land was mostly empty until the Jewish Zionists constructed the waterworks irrigation systems. After much of that work had been accomplished, the Arabs arrived for the better economy and that is their reason for remaining. Should the world end their payments to these terror masters, they would leave never to be seen again. The few who would remain would be those willing to work and make something with their lives and with those Israel will be capable of negotiating a lasting peace. Think about that France, if you can see past your hatreds and anti-Semitism.

What would be your reaction if I now explained that this is about Israeli settlers placing wanted dead or alive posters of Mahmoud Abbas and other leaders in the Palestinian Authority around their areas inciting for these people to be targeted for assassination. You would immediately condemn these acts as depraved and illegal to be roundly condemned by every sane and rational society and that the people responsible to be arrested and tried for being accessories instigating violence and for violating the human rights and a litany of other offenses. What would be your reaction if instead of posting such tacky posters it was reported that they had placed an exhibit as part of an exhibit on Judea and Samaria a picture of Marwan Hasib Ibrahim Barghouti sitting in a prison cell with rifle site bullseye on his head and another in the middle of his chest. Again you would be rightfully enraged at such a grievous act of inhumanity and demand the people responsible to be arrested. If any of these were to be true I would not only be joining you in your calls for people to be arrested for such vapid displays of inhumanity and criminal instigation expressed as some warped and weird form of art but actually merely expressing a hate-filled inhumane message which should lead to arrests of the people responsible for the entire exhibit and the authors or artists responsible for this and such display to await trial on charges of hate crimes and assaults on the human rights of another human being, I would be trumpeting the call for trials for acts violating the human rights of Marwan Barghouti. Fortunately such exhibits or posters are not the case and would very likely never be the case and should such distasteful exhibits and behaviors ever be exhibited by the settlers or any other Israeli, they would be arrested by the Israeli police and put on trial for their heinous deeds and the offending pieces removed from public display.

Yehuda Glick assassination exhibit at new exhibition on “Jerusalem” at the An-Najah University in Shechem (Nablus) made up of anti-Israel incitement, expressed through pictures and other displays.

But such acts have been placed on display including the pictured above piece which is an actual depiction of Yehuda Glick in an assassination display at new exhibition on “Jerusalem” at the An-Najah University in Shechem (Nablus) consisting of anti-Israel, anti-Semitic and anti-Zionist incitement exhibits expressed through pictures and other displays. This exhibition includes the assassination display and comes a mere five months after Yehuda Glick was shot at point-blank range receiving four bullets into his torso leading to his extended treatment in the hospital where he received numerous surgeries to repair the damage and save his life. This disgusting call for further targeting of Yehuda Glick for assassination comes only weeks after Yehuda Glick was finally released from hospitalization and having regained normal body function which was in itself a true and real miracle, Baruch HaShem. The shooter, we should say assassin except for his failure, Baruch HaShem, was sent by Islamic Jihad who desired Yehuda Glick murdered because of his actions to permit Jews their right to pray on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem and currently under the supervision of the Jordanian Waqf which forbids all prayer other than Muslim. This ban also is applied to Christians and other religions and not just Jews though their application and enforcement is strongest against Jews. One might believe that the Arabs Muslims who make up the Jordanian supervision are afraid that Jewish prayers coming from the Temple Mount which was the site of the first two Temples would have special treatment and be heard by G0d receiving immediate fulfillment and since such prayers might invoke the desire for the rebuilding of the Temple that such might produce a completed Temple falling out of the sky and replacing Islamic buildings. If only such would occur showing the might of G0d and His love for the Jewish People and through the performance of such a great and unmistakable miracle, have it understood that this miracle was for all Jews throughout the world calling upon them to return to the lands G0d gave us after he took us from the house of bondage in Egypt. Such a miracle would make belief that the Covenant with the Jewish People still exists and is as real and miraculous today as it has ever been and that this miraculous act of great love by G0d would make His continued performance of the greatest magnitude showing love for the Jewish People and preparing Israel for the coming. It was for protesting for the Jews right to pray upon the Temple Mount for which Yehuda Glick has been targeted for assassination and anyone who is able to murder Yehuda will be celebrated as having committed some great and noble act and there will be dancing in the streets in Nablus and throughout the Palestinian Arab areas of Gaza and Judea and Samaria (West Bank) accompanied by music and the handing out of sweet cakes and candies. Such are the kind of acts which are celebrated amongst the Arabs. These societal laudable moments revolve around murders of Israelis, especially Jews.

Imagine if as depicted at the beginning of this article that such exhibits were placed on display in some small but well-known museum; say the hall of Middle Eastern Studies of Tel Aviv University which they use to sponsor displays pertaining to historic and modern-day exhibits included pictures of well-known Arab Muslims from Hamas, Fatah and Islamic Jihad, even terrorists who had the blood of numerous Israelis on their hands, with targets on their chests and heads calling for their assassination. The media throughout the world and the heads of states of European and other Western nations, the Arab League, the United Nations, Russia, China, and probably all the nations in Asia and Africa would all be denouncing Israel and placing complete trade embargoes on Israel until those responsible for such crimes against humanity and complete disregard for human lives as well as hate crimes against the Palestinian Arabs and their leaders who were so mercilessly targeted in the exhibits and the museum curator and other heads of departments and the President and other officers of Tel Aviv University had all been indicted, tried, found guilty and given decades if not centuries of time in prison for such a heinous display of tasteless and dehumanizing displays. Yet with similar such displays being sponsored and offered for public viewing by An-Najah University in Shechem has yet to raise so much as a ripple of effect across the world with a complete absence of protest from the usually sensitive Europeans, the ever-aware and responsive President of the United States, the presumed nerve-center for the world the United Nations or any leader, public figure, mainstream media figure, academic, human rights advocate or other normally so sensitive people, institutions, religious leader or nongovernmental organization has stepped up to condemn or even merely comment about this display of incitement to violence including the singling of one person for directed violence intending to depict a call for the assassination of an Israeli citizen and political human rights activist.

The propensity for the world to simply accept any hate-filled message, display, language, or even political act calling for violence and murder of Jews, not just Israelis but all Jews as is part of the Hamas charter, the Islamic Jihad charter and the PLO charter, the same PLO which changed its name but not its ends desired transforming their name to Palestinian Authority which absolved them of their previous sins and cleansed them of their terrorist roots, and to simply stand aside from such hate-filled vitriol and displays such as this An-Najah University presentation is simply astonishing in the most disgusting manner. You might ask for what do the world leaders and human rights defenders and activists wait for, and we will tell you. They wait for any Israeli reaction which they will then become incensed demanding the head of the Israeli or Jewish response calling for the removal of such offensive material especially the calls for Yehuda Glick to be targeted especially. Such calls for the termination of this display, if it were to be made by any Israeli or Jewish leader the world official conscience would respond with righteous indignation at the effrontery of an attempt to censor a rightful and deeply moving display of artistic and emotive presentations expressing the longing and love for Jerusalem which the Israelis and world Jewry are denying the Palestinians their rights to visit and pray at the Temple Mount (Palestinians refer to the Temple Mount as Haram al-Sharif الحرم القدسي الشريف‎) and who are denied a decent life or even peace which the Palestinians long for but are constantly denied such by the Jews. Never mind that the Palestinians and any Muslim is granted full rights to pray, visit, picnic, play soccer or any other activity and may utilize any of the gates to enter the Temple Mount while non-Muslims are restricted to a single gate, are searched for any offensive items such as religious books or symbols which are not Islamic and if Jewish kept for special treatment which includes open hostilities, denials of the right to pray, denial of any action which is detected and inferred to be religious such as moving one’s lips without speaking, speaking, looking skyward, kneeling, standing still, clasping one’s hands possibly holding one’s breath or breathing as well as being set upon and attacked for which the Jews who are being assaulted and are the obvious victims are removed from the Temple Mount, not the offending Muslims and Palestinians.

With such reinforcement of their rioting being sufficient reason to close the Temple Mount to Jewish visitation and assaulting any Jews who do ascend to the holiest place in all of the world for Jews, the Jewish police will remove the Jews as the Jordanian Waqf had defined rioting Muslims as being rooted to having been instigated by any Jewish presence on their holy land which the Jews are to be deprived despite its sacred importance to Jews. Eventually the assaults and other acts of intolerance by the Islamic world will cause a reactive eruption which will bring everything to a critical boiling point and the results of such are impossible to predict. Should there ever be an assault whereby rockets rain down unabated and not intercepted causing a number of the tallest buildings to burn or even be destroyed toppling them into heaps of ruinous twisted steel and broken glass infused with hundreds or even thousands of victims corpses beneath the rubble, then the reaction will be beyond imagination but it will bring the end to any claims by the so-called and mythical Palestinian people, nation or rights and claims to any lands between the river and the sea. After such an unbearable loss, which would most likely be the eventual result of a peace treaty in which Israel would surrender and almost all of Judea and Samaria as well as East Jerusalem, all the way to the Green Line, with minor swaps of land by some formula; the cry for relief from such attacks merging with a promise of a permanent end would result in a war in which only one side would prevail. This inevitability would be far from the first incitement as that would be the publically displayed destruction put on Facebook and other social media of Kever Yosef (Joseph’s Tomb), Kever Rachel (Rachel’s Tomb) and numerous other Jewish Holy Sites including numerous Synagogues throughout East Jerusalem which have been rebuilt since the Six Day War. Another effrontery would be the refusal by the Palestinians to honor their agreement for Jews to be permitted to enter their areas to visit Holy Sites even the Western Wall, the Kotel. The assault with such a rocket barrage that it would prove beyond the abilities of Iron Dome Batteries to intercept every rocket and missile and too many would strike Tel Aviv and surrounding areas destroying many vital sites and buildings as well as an unacceptable number of slain civilians. The world would scream for Israel to hold their fire and to show restraint but even Tzipi Livni or Yitzhak Hertzog would be pressured to respond, though meekly and without any real change in the status quo, but such attacks would soon bring a heavy hand across the Palestinian lands wiping them clean and forcing those within to flee likely returning to their families’ original home nation never even considering a return to Israel. Such would bring finality to the peace process as it would produce an actual winner and that is the only solution which can be definitive as truth be told, either Israel is destroyed or the Arabs denied their beachheads in Judea, Samaria and Gaza as this is the real choice the Arab world and the Palestinians have defined as the only end. Actually the Arab world depicts the end of Israel as the only acceptable end, it is just they do not wish to provide their own forces and take casualties which fighting the IDF would produce, thus they invented the Palestinians to fight the war for them using guerrilla warfare and other means of asymmetrical warfare to wear Israel down to the point they simply surrender. “Never Again” means never again will Jews not have their nation and never again will the Jews be vulnerable to another genocidal maniac and their desire to rid the world of its Jews as has been tried and failed over the past four or five millennia, and it will not happen now, “Never Again!”

The Provocateurs at the Wall

Again this week on Rosh Hodesh, the first day of a Hebrew month, there was the planned provocation at the Kotel, the Western Wall, by a group of self-proclaimed reformers demanding that Israel in general and the Kotel area in particular be made more accepting. They deem it a necessity that the traditions and rules which currently exist and are mostly kept by unspoken agreement be torn asunder and room made for universal acceptance of practices and attitudes from within the broad spectrum of the Jewish faith. These “Women of the Wall” feel that having the Kotel and environs be controlled and run under Halacha, the traditional religious interpretations of the Law and Commandments also referred to as Talmudic Law is too restrictive and foreboding, making the wall unwelcoming to many lesser religious Jews. These are the traditionally accepted practices and more by which traditional Orthodox Jews live their lives. The Women of the Wall want that Reform and Conservative Jews be permitted to hold their religious practices, especially those which run contrary to Halacha. Their argument is that by only allowing the most stringent interpretations of Judaism to be permitted at this the holiest place on Earth to Jews that there are numerous Jews who are being left out and unable to participate in activities or even to pray at the Wall.

There are those reading this and asking why cannot the Wall be made more inclusive. The answer to this question was recently taken up by Jewish Authorities and the Knesset and a compromise was offered where a new section of the Western Wall has been cleared near to the Robinson Arch as an additional area adjacent to the traditional Kotel established where those who would prefer a less traditional set of practices be observed or held can be done without disturbing the peace and holiness that is preserved at the Kotel. The Women of the Wall initially had said that this was adequate and that they were satisfied and accepted this new arrangement. That was before the first of a new month where apparently they have changed their minds or something is awry as they were once again holding their “service” at the Wall which includes directly challenging Jewish Traditions and accepted practices as a provocation. Another claim they have made is that visitors from outside Israel might feel put off by the traditional and Halachic rules at the Kotel and that all the varied forms of Judaism should be granted acceptance of their rules, law, and commandments as they practice their faith and not be basically struck over the head with the stringent rules currently in place. Their demands that there basically be no rules regarding practices and services at the Kotel remind me of a quote attributed to Alexander Hamilton which states, “If you don’t stand for something you’ll fall for anything.”

I feel a confession should be made about myself. I would not be considered to be an overly religious and practicing Jew under Halachic Law and was not raised as an Orthodox Jew as is the case for the majority of Jews in the United States and elsewhere outside of Israel. I have been to visit the Western Wall and did not feel out of place any more than my normal nervousness to being at a holy place which, in many ways, far exceeds my life’s experience of being Jewish and Torah observance and actually found some peace that this place was run under rules of strict observance that honored the traditions and the time honored values of Judaism as it was practiced over the centuries when the Jews, the Hebrews, the Israelites lived and ruled the Promised Land and observed and lived by the Torah, the rules handed down from on High. Personally I would not desire the Western Wall be changed in any way except possibly have scheduled classes for those seeking to reclaim their heritage, but that can be done most anywhere in Israel if you truly desire to do so.

Some might demand to have explained why this has caused such a ruckus and why cannot the rules be liberalized to allow for such practices from less observant Jewish sects. The first question that needs to be raised to answer this is exactly how far will it be necessary to redefine what is acceptable and what when the new lines are challenged and further changes are demanded? Eventually such a route would lead to complete anarchy and no rules what-so-ever.  Furthermore, the solution put in place should have satisfied all involved as a new section was made available for those practices outside of the Orthodoxy. Let us for a moment change the solution around and see if we can predict what would have happened if the main section of the Western Wall had been made to conform with the Women of the Wall’s demands and the Orthodox traditional Halachic rules were made to be applied in the newly opened section. I feel extremely comfortable in predicting that had that been the new arrangement, then these ladies would have held their protest observance at the new wall demanding it also be adjusted to their definitions of what is acceptable. Their leaders have made their true intentions known in slips during interviews when they admitted their ultimate aim is to redefine Judaism away from the strict Orthodoxy and make everything bend to accommodate the Conservative, Reform and other sects and to erase any vestiges of the Orthodoxy. Their aim is not to establish universal acceptance of all forms of Judaism but rather the universal rejection of traditional Orthodox Judaism.

Their desire is to tear down rather than to build and that is where the problem lies. To accommodate these ladies’ demands would be to accept the pretext that Judaism has no traditional laws, no true standards and that anyone may define what is permitted in their view and practice of Judaism and nobody else has any right to claim that they have missed the mark of being a true and observant Jew. Traditions are necessary and the Orthodoxy and their holding to the ancient laws and enforcement of the Commandments is what will allow Judaism to survive. This is far from the first time that there have been Jews who claimed they were modernizing the religion of Judaism and making it relevant to the times. The most obvious was when the ancient lands of the Jews broke into two Kingdoms, the northern Kingdom named Israel which felt that their views of the traditions and laws needed to be accepted, and the Kingdom of Judah which was the southern Kingdom which observed the older traditions. In time the Northern Kingdom fell to invaders and were carried off where they either ceased to exist as Jews through assimilation or simply not having the traditions on which to hold their religion close. These became the Ten Lost Tribes of Israel who were deemed not to return until the final redemption and the return of all Jews to their Promised Land. The Kingdom of Judah did also eventually fall but the Jews from Judea had their traditions and Halachic Laws to keep their religion alive and separate from all other religions thus keeping them from assimilation. This survival of traditional Judaism has ramification even into modern times if one looks deeply enough knowing what they seek but perhaps that is a subject for a later article.
