The Whole and Ugly Reality Surrounding Israel

We all know that there are extreme levels of threats surrounding Israel. Many of these fronts can be traced back to Iran, but more on that after we give measure to some of the realities. Through polls, random samplings and quotes given by people in Gaza we know that they are amongst the most anti-Zionist, anti-Israel and anti-Semitic of populations on the planet. They are even more hateful than the population of Jordan, the nation which usually outpolls all other Arab and Muslim nations in all three areas. This would make Gaza the world leader if it were to be considered a nation. And there is the other truth the world likes to ignore, Gaza, for all intents and purposes, is a nation run by Hamas and should simply be called Hamasistan. The next most anti-Israel-Zionist-Semitic region on the planet is Southern Lebanon which no longer has much of a Christian population and is largely Hezballah families and rabid supporters of the terrorist groups. Hezballah has, as of the last election held recently; taken complete control of the entire nation as their actions and intimidations has emptied Lebanon of a majority of its former Christian population as any who could move very likely left. Lebanon also needs a name change to Hezballaland. Their solid area in southern Lebanon would fall in right behind Gaza and all of Lebanon would be close behind Gaza and closing on the Palestinian Authority areas.

The Palestinian Authority (PA) area is only less anti-Israel-Zionist-Semitic because many of the people work alongside Israeli Jews in the factories and other Israeli Jewish businesses. This allows some PA residents to find out the awful truth, Jews, even Israeli Jews from beyond the Green Line, “Settler” Jews; they do not have horns, drink blood of children or any of the other wonderful lies, myths and deceits most often told about Jews and Israelis and especially Zionists, which defines the majority of the “Settlers” are false and they are simply people just like the Arabs are people providing they have not swallowed the hatred pill and become ravaging vengeance machines. Still, if elections were to be held in the PA ruled regions, Hamas would win holding at least two-thirds if not four-fifths of the legislative body and would easily defeat Mahmoud Abbas and any other Fatah candidate for President. This would still leave Abbas as Chairman of the PLO and leader of Fatah, the latter just barely. There is one Fatah candidate with any chance of winning the Presidency of the PA and that is Marwan Barghouti who is imprisoned in Israeli prison serving five-years plus for the murder by terrorism of five of the many his plans and executions have murdered. It is exactly his being one of their most celebrated terror masterminds which makes Marwan Barghouti such a favorite.

As we have seen, Gaza, Jordan, Hezballaland (Lebanon) and slightly more civil PA really take the cake when it comes to hatred and seething, molten iron hot, murderous hatred of Israel and every Jew and any other non-Muslim within almost completely envelops Israel leaving the southern border with Egypt and the Golan Heights area with Syria actually bordering Israel though one might make a case that maybe six or seven inches of Israel at the southern tip shares a border with Saudi Arabia snuggly nestled between Jordan and Egypt. Let us take Syria first as it is the far more simple border as well as smaller. This is another border along with Gaza and Hezballaland where Israel faces terrorists allied with and provided for by Iran. In Syria Israel faces, on top of Hezballah, the IRGC (Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps) forces, as well as the fanatical Quds Force which is manned by nearly rabid fanaticism with the explicit focus on the destruction of Israel, murder of all Jews and we are told the conquest of al-Quds, which is the Islamic name for Jerusalem. From this front Israel faces a determined enemy which will use any form of weaponry, it is just a matter of time. Sooner or later Iran will fire a barrage of rockets all topped with Sarin Gas warheads such that if a single rocket evades the Iron Dome or is considered to be falling in a harmless open area and any Israel breathes in even a minute amount, providing they get appropriate medical attention almost immediately, will face a life where they will be challenged performing simple daily routines and at least twenty years less life. Without immediate treatment or if a stronger amount is inhaled, the result is certain death after convulsions and searing pain. What would be the Israeli response to a Sarin Gas attack, the use of a WMD on her population, I would not want to even hazard a guess. Whatever the chosen response, it would be definitive and near absolute in nature, carefully planned and decided and executed with a firm resolve beyond imagination. The people most likely to execute the response, providing the response is not simply nuclear missiles as responding in kind, would be the same people who removed over a ton of classified information from a secured and secret location in Tehran replete with pictures of the building, the inside of the building, a map of its location in Tehran and the complete documentation of the Iranian nuclear program from before the year 2000 to the present in the form of folders of documents, compact disks; to be exact it was reportedly 55,000 pages of evidence and a further 55,000 files on 183 CDs relating to Project Amad.

Now we face Egypt, a place with probably one of the greatest disconnects concerning Israel. Where we have no actual idea of what President Sisi or any of the rest of the ruling elite in Egypt feel towards Israel, but we do know that they really would prefer not to engage in a war or exchange of hostilities and rather work on their national economy. The Egyptian government does, at times, coordinate with Israel on their two mutual problems, Hamas in Gaza and terrorists in the Sinai Peninsula. Egypt has even requested Israeli assistance in the Sinai Peninsula and given Israel permission at times to operate in the Sinai to remove terror threats as these threats are against both nations. These times of cooperation are always of benefit to Egypt and usually also Israel though there have been some times where the benefit of an Israeli action was likely more beneficial to Egypt. Then there are the people of which the vast majority believes that Egypt should engage Israel militarily and wipe Israel from the map. This is their thoughts as they also have been taught that Egypt has won every engagement with Israel and is the vastly more powerful nation. Without any evidence to corroborate or contravene what they have been told, they take the information provided by their government at face value. Eventually, the Muslim Brotherhood will regain rule in Egypt and then the cooperation will end and the countdown to a new war to push the Jews into the Sea, to quote Nasser, will commence with who knows allied with Egypt this time, Iran, Syria, Hezballaland, all of the above, who knows.

This is pretty much the situation here in paradise. Surrounded by entities almost wholly dedicated to our extinction, Israelis live an absurdly normal lives. Yes, ever few years, somewhere in Israel her citizens head into shelters at varying speeds from frantic urgency to a brisk walk when they hear the sirens scream their warning of incoming rockets or other projectiles. Despite the unrivaled efficiency of the Iron Dome systems in intercepting projectiles, Israelis still head into shelters as well as we celebrate life. Actually, this is one of the taunts we receive by which we are presumed to be the less powerful and guaranteed to lose the conflict with the Arab World simply because, as Hamas spokespersons have stated, “Hamas loves death like Israelis love life.” This is often quoted around the entirety of the Islamic war zones which ring the borders of the Islamic world where their presumed strength is their willingness to die for the cause. The real problem is that they are not only willing to die but they insist on taking as many innocents as possible, either Israelis or their own people as the terror leaders believe that their own dead civilians are an asset which can be utilized through the pictures they will make available for the media to spread for them with subtitles of their being killed by Israel. There will be no mention of their serving as human shields simply so they would be killed. Still, mostly our lives are very similar to anywhere else in the developed world. Traffic jams, rush hour, grocery shopping and all the other chores and pleasures of life. We are all living driving distance from the Mediterranean Sea, some of us just a few blocks walking distance from the same Mediterranean Sea as makes up the coasts of France and Italy and all those famous beaches and communities of film and literary fame. There is always the chance of a scare, a threat or some unsettling news which you soon learn to ignore as these horrible things seldom develop. Israel has found the secret to remaining peaceful, make the price for breaching the peace too terrible to contemplate and complete enough to make prolonged continuation nearly impossible. Eventually there will be another attempt on each of these fronts, most likely one or two at any given time. Should the Arab forces be foolish enough to all make a move against Israel in total accordance with one another, then Israel would be pressed to end the confrontation as rapidly and completely as humanly possible. This would mean that Israel would be forced to blunt every force and cause the greatest possible numbers of casualties so as to end the attacks as immediately as possible. It would be the order no Prime Minister would feel good giving, but then watching the country of Israel die is not an alternative which would be acceptable to any elected leader.

Israel lives on what could easily be called a knife’s edge, but our balance is good and we make do with the hand we have chosen. We realize this and accept it as part of the package of reclaiming our homelands. That is all we wish to have, our ancient homelands where the twelve tribes were originally mapped out, nothing more and even an amount less. There are groups of Israelis who desire for the Temple to be rebuilt and believe it will occur within their lifetimes. The Arab, Christian, Muslim, Bahia, Buddhist and other religions all live here with complete equality and enjoy all the freedoms and privileges which all Israeli citizens enjoy. One need understand that the Palestinians have their own governances, in Gaza, it is Hamas and in the PA regions, it is Mahmoud Abbas and Fatah. They are responsible for their own laws and when to hold elections, which by all measures is never. Israel relented on such control long ago and the presumed occupation by Israel has nothing to do with the lives of the Palestinian Arabs, it has to do with everyone else. The occupation is the sheer existence of Israel and her people. When the surrounding Arabs and Muslims claim they want to end the occupation, they mean Israel, not their own miserable governance. When you hear the word occupation, hear Israel and then you will understand exactly for what they are screaming. They are screaming for the end of Israel as that is the only land we “occupy” and that is what causes them so much anger. The reality of the situation is that easy to interpret, replace “occupation” with “Israel” and it all becomes clear and makes sense. It really is that simple.

As If Israel Did Not Have Enough Problems

Let us start with the most bizarre of all the problems facing Israel, though this one is easily repaired, simply ignore it and it will wither on the vine, so to speak. This one comes from a nation which once upon a time was a friend to Israel. France sold Israel Mirage Jets through the 1950’s and much of the 1960’s. Those were the days, my friends, but just like the song, they did end. Now France has demanded access to prisoners by insisting for their Parliamentarians to have access to whomever they wish access whenever they are in Israel. Imagine the chutzpah French Foreign Ministry displayed releasing this statement, this audacious demand, upon Israeli authorities Monday stating they would bar entry to the country of a group of French politicians seeking to visit jailed terrorist leader Marwan Barghouti. Their hope was to raise their movement for the release of this terror master and murderer of numerous Israeli civilians so he can replace Mahmoud Abbas as the next leader of the PLO, Palestinian Authority (PA), and Fatah to continue the war to destroy Israel. This is just the most recent face of the European and world efforts to bring to fruition the destruction of Israel.

On the Israeli northern border along the Lebanese border (the Blue Line) and the Golan Heights from the Syrian border there lies Hezballah. They have been invigorated with fresh troops from the IRGC (Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps) and better weaponry direct from Iran are believed to be considering the means by which to calm the suspicions of the Lebanese people that Hezballah is simply using them as a base and are actually servants of Iran and Syria, nothing more. Despite that being the reality which has become obvious even to the most casual of observers, Nasrallah likes his comfortable life in the peaceful hills of Lebanon and believes it would really be a shame if he needed relocate to the burnt hills of Syria. The word has leaked that Nasrallah may be pinning his hopes to calm the rumors in Lebanon by forcing a confrontation with Israel possibly from the Syria border so as to avoid the fighting spilling into Lebanon. The entire concept would be risky as the support for such an assault would almost necessarily need be launched out of Lebanon as that is the location of the majority of the hundred to hundred and fifty thousand rockets and missiles of various size and range held by Hezballah. Such an escalation would definitely gain a response in kind from Israel which would then bring the war onto Lebanese lands. Whether Nasrallah will risk the bloodshed and ravages of another war with Israel remains to be seen. All of Israel hopes he decides not to risk the peace, safety and lives of his people and of Israel as we prefer peace but will act according to the realities presented to us.

Another group in the Iranian camp is Hamas and there is always the possibility that they too might decide that by provoking Israel by attacking her civilians, towns, cities, farms, kibbutzim and population centers with barrages of rockets will please their sponsors in Tehran. Further, Iran may demand of them to attack Israel ever escalating their attacks over time in order to find exactly where Israel will draw the line and respond in kind. Hamas might also be a second prong of a pincer attack striking from the north with Hezballah and the South with Hamas. Hamas, along with Islamic Jihad, have been building terror tunnels to use to infiltrate Israel intending to use them during attacks or to abduct Israelis to hold hostage and demand the release of terrorists from Israeli prisons. This has become a point of contention in some circles in Israel.

Then there is the rumors about a grand plan being worked upon in Washington D.C. based on the Two-State Solution. President Trump will soon attempt to bring about another round of negotiations between the PA and Israel. The rumors are that there will be concessions asked of both sides. We have been here before where the concessions from Israel are concrete sacrifices on the lands and in assigned borders granting additional facts for the PA to claim more areas while the PA and Abbas are only requested to make promises which they will never keep. It has been the same ever since the disaster brought upon Israel by the crafters of the Oslo Accords; Shimon Peres, Yossi Beilin, Ron Pundak, Yitzhak Rabin and their select group of advisers and negotiators. Since then there have been a select group who have continued to believe in the Oslo Accords and protected them always holding to the concept that should Israel only find the exact formula of concessions and enticements, then peace will break out and roses will bloom. This has been the political Achilles Heel of Israel.

The Truth Arab League Wants You to Know

The Truth Arab League Wants You to Know

Then there is a growing rift which has grown between the American Jewish communities, particularly those of a leftist political alignment. This rift has not grown between the traditional Orthodox who largely still supports Israel just as they have since her conception seeing Israel as the realization of the dream. Meanwhile, the leftist Jews are mostly made up from the Reform and Reconstructionist movements and have recently invented a new branch designed to strike from another angle, these are the New Orthodox, Open Orthodox or whatever name they will jump to using once these names has been exposed as false branches and not truly Orthodox. These pseudo-Orthodox factions believe in same sex marriage, inter-faith marriages and numerous other leftist political positions which run contrary to Halacha. They have used this front to augment the push by the leadership of nontraditional Judaism to demand Israel bend and hold to the leftist principles followed by these sects which long ago placed their leftist politics above Halachic Judaism. They demanded a mixed gender place where women could wear Tallit, put on Tefillin, and even read Torah and Israel tried to meet them on this demand. The section was not used and remained deserted but when the Israelis decided to close the section to save resources, the hue and cry went up that Israel was drawing lines on who was a Jew and who was not. Their most damaging attempt was the demand that Israel accept any conversion to Judaism from any Rabbi or source with no regards for qualitative demands, religious knowledge of the convert, desire of the convert to live an Halachic life or even make an attempt to be Jewish in any manner or fashion. The reason behind these attacks is to label Israel as rejecting their Jewishness and not hold themselves at all responsible for their complete desertion of all things Jewish exchanging them for leftist politics and their holy revolution.

Another peril for Israel is the rising anti-Semitism in Europe and starting to spread throughout the world. This is an Israeli problem as Israel has a responsibility to fight to protect the Jews everywhere. By fight, we do not mean literally but politically and socially. The best antidote for anti-Semitism is a strong and proper Israel and Israeli people living proper and Torah observant lives. Israel must also be the refuge for any Jews who find themselves threatened where they reside giving them a place to which to flee should things turn that badly. This was the case throughout the 1950’s as Jews faced pogroms and exile from their homelands across the MENA region as the Arab and Muslim rulers demanded their Jews flee after stripping them of all their wealth. This was the case as the Jews fled the Soviet Union in the 1970’s through the 1980’s. This will be the unfortunately necessary case when Europe decides they no longer care to countenance their Jewish populations. This will be far from the first time that Jews have been expelled from European nations or threatened with genocide should they not exit quickly enough. This was the reason the Holocaust came about as Hitler initially demanded that the Jews be permitted to return to their homelands in what would become Israel. The British who controlled the lands at the time responded to Arab rioting at the idea of permitting European Jews to flee to Israel refused them entry. Now there is no external power preventing Israel from being the last and best hope for the Jewish People. If or when places around our world decide to expel their Jews, today there is a land which will gladly give them a home and assist them in adjusting to their new life, and that is Israel. We have heard people argue that the United States would accept Jews in distress but all we can ask them is if they have ever heard of the steamship St. Louis. Usually their answer is no and they need be educated that this was evidence of exactly what the United States did when Jews were in desperate need of assistance and were within sight of the American shoreline as well as the Coast Guard ships escorting their slow cruise along the eastern seaboard on their trip back to Frankfort. Israel is the guarantor that such a travesty never happens again. Israel is the enforcement behind the phrase, “Never Again.”

And now another disaster appears on the horizon. Former Prime Minister and Defense Minister Ehud Barak said on Wednesday he is seriously considering running for Prime Minister. There are also reports that he has been contacting leaders of several parties and is most seriously considering joining the Zionist Union assuming the top spot from Labor chairman Avi Gabbay. Ehud Barak was quoted by Hahadashot stating, “Today I am more mature and qualified to lead the State of Israel than any candidate around.” Yes, Ehud Barak never has suffered from excessive modesty. But please do not take our word for this, from his own mouth, “I do not need reinforcements – I am immodest enough to notice that in terms of record, experience, international familiarity, intimate familiarity with security problems, economics, etc. I am now more mature and qualified to lead the State of Israel than any of the candidates around, including Netanyahu.” This from a man who has never found any proposed sacrifice as being too excessive if their might be a Nobel Peace Prize for finally reaching a deal with the PA. Ehud Barak has taken great hope from a poll which he claims he does not know the source, really likely, which he describes stating, “I also have a poll, which I do not know who initiated, but on the question, ‘If there was a direct election for prime minister and Netanyahu and Barak were candidates, who would you vote for?’, I beat Netanyahu among the secular public.” He probably has not heard that Israel while being a secular state politically, is a largely religious state. This explains the sabotage and condemnatory statements regarding Prime Minister Netanyahu over the past eighteen months while claiming to have no interest in running for political office. We have suspected he was once again planning on running for Prime Minister as he cannot believe he is not running everything from Israel to the United Nations, the Nobel Committee and the planet, after all, he is not “immodest” by admission. Who are we to argue with Mr. Perfect?

Barghouti Palestinian Hunger Strike and International Law

Most people have absolutely no idea what the International Law is concerning the treatment of prisoners who choose to stage a hunger strike. Most probably believe that it is the nation where the prisoners have declared a hunger strike responsibility to do everything possible to remedy the situation favorably. This would include caving to the demands of the prisoners if that is what was required. Obviously, these people have not figured this thing out and given it the depth of thought required. If caving to the demands was a required response, and if that is what was necessary to end a prisoner hunger strike, then there would be no prisoners anywhere as all any prisoner would need to do to be released is go on a hunger strike demanding their release and then wait for a couple of weeks and have some really intense hunger pangs. Then as their health became affected, they would be released in order to preserve their health, or at least their lives. Actually, nothing could be further from the truth. The truth is if the prisoner has been determined to be of sound mind when making the decision, then any consequence of their hunger strike, including death, is on the prisoner and not the holding authority. The International Law does not even permit forced-feeding to keep prisoners alive; it actually forbids such considering forced-feeding as a form of torture which can be the basis of bringing charges against the offending government and nation. So, what exactly is the wording of the law? That can be found in the declaration of Tokyo: Declaration #6; which can be read below.

Declaration of Tokyo

International Law Concerning Prisoner Hunger Strikes

Where a prisoner refuses nourishment and is considered by the physician as capable of forming an unimpaired and rational judgment concerning the consequences of such a voluntary refusal of nourishment, he or she shall not be fed artificially. The decision as to the capacity of the prisoner to form such a judgment should be confirmed by at least one other independent physician. The consequences of the refusal of nourishment shall be explained by the physician to the prisoner.

This Tokyo Declaration means that if the initial physician had determined that the prisoner or prisoners who decide on a hunger strike did so while of sound mind and while not under any coercion, then a second and independent physician is required to also explain the consequences of their actions at each stage of the strike and as long as the prisoner continues demanding they continue their hunger strike, then they must be permitted to continue. Even should their action result in their deaths, they must be allowed to continue their hunger strike. There is an exception which would permit their being force-fed and that is that should they become unconscious, then they can be determined to no longer be of sound mind and thus unable to rationally insist on continuing their hunger strike and can be fed by whatever means are necessitated. Waiting for prisoners to fall unconscious before feeding them is extremely risky, as once they have lost consciousness they would be so close to death that bringing them back from the edge would be a delicate situation. The percentages for saving their lives would have fallen well below optimum and may have fallen to a point where the chances would be negligible.

The difficulty Israel faces is the same ideal which the Arabs throw in our faces at every opportunity with their chant of, “We love death as much as you love life and that is why we will defeat you.” To be honest, this argument has never quite made sense to us and in my case, I remember a quote attributed to General George Patton in the movie “Patton” and attributed to the General in some references where he was reputed to have said, “No bastard ever won a war by dying for his country. He won it by making some other poor dumb bastard die for his country.” Apparently, the Arabs have decided to make that easier for Israel if their threat is to be taken literally. The truth is the Arab leadership loves life just as much as any Israeli, what they do not have much regard for are the lives of those they command. Arab commanders send others to die while Israeli officers are at the tip of the spear where their command to move forward is always, “Follow me,” as they lead out. The other side of the Israeli love of life is that we also value Arab lives even to include the hunger-striking prisoners. Israel was threatened of being brought before the International Criminal Court (ICC) or the International Court of Justice (ICJ) for War Crimes and Crimes Against Humanity for torturing prisoners. Most people in the Western World have heard the claims that Israel tortures Arab prisoners but they have no idea what criminal definition of torture Israel is guilty of committing. Under the Declaration of Tokyo, forced-feeding of a prisoner, even to save their lives, is defined as torture. The life of the prisoner is presumably of no concern for the holding governance; it is on the prisoner if they lose their life due to a hunger strike. Under International Law, the death of a hunger-striking prisoner is considered a suicide and not the concern of the holding government. Israel cannot accept such a trivial treatment of a human life, even the life of a hunger-striking prisoner.

The whole situation is considered a win-win by the Arab terror organizations which is why there are three or four hunger strikes called virtually every year. They realize there are only two results which can come from their hunger strike. They realize that there is little if any chance that they will be allowed to die as a result of their choices and actions. This means either they will have their demands met which usually amounts to several of the strikers being freed and other concessions. This result often comes when nations of the world demand that Israel not force-feed the prisoners and ties their demands to threats to take Israel before the ICC or the ICJ with charges of torture by force-feeding prisoners against their will. Simply put in everyday words, usually at the behest of the Arab League and numerous Arab governments, through behind the scenes communications, call for numerous European nations or the European Union to threaten Israel with charges of preserving human lives of their sworn enemies and often terrorist lives through the torture of forced-feeding them against their will. Prisoner rights groups and the family of nations pressed for and got the decision that the forced-feeding of prisoners was torture such that International Law made it punishable before the community of nations thus leaving only one means for a civilized people to save the lives of hunger striking prisoners, surrender to their demands. Before the decision that forced-feeding was torture there were two choices for governments, they could give in to the demands or they could force-feed the prisoners while it was still safe and would guarantee their survival. With the removal of feeding as a solution, there still remain two choices which save the life of the prisoner, giving in to their demands or waiting for them to pass into unconsciousness and then feeding them. The waiting for unconsciousness is a very risky means as some prisoners will die at the point of losing consciousness, others will be able to be saved and for far too many, the probabilities for survival would be very slim. None of these options are acceptable to Israel, not to her government and not to the vast majority of the people, even including the ones who might act tough and say, let them die, who if they had to make the call they would not allow them to die and would choose life.

The prisoners know that when they start to refuse food then either their demands will be met or Israel will face the screams across the globe from leftists and the anti-Semites that Israel is guilty of torture and is once again torturing their prisoners. The accusations continue and are louder every time there is a prisoner who is force-fed. Torture, torture they cry with the prisoner rights groups up in protest supported by numerous others from left wing groups plus there are the Soros groups who live to accuse Israel of crimes, BLM, BDS, pro-Palestinian groups, anti-Israel, anti-Zionist and all the rest of the anti-Semitic groups, European nations and their funded NGO’s, B’Tselem, the numerous peace groups and the list is nearly endless. Torture, torture ringing across the globe and the sun never sets on the various protests against Israel for saving lives. Imagine the outcry were Israel to permit just one hunger striking prisoner to die. The world screamed and demanded investigations for close to a year, some still ringing that bell, when one prisoner died from a stroke. The claims were that Israel somehow brought on his stroke, exactly how was never stated, it was just accepted that Israel not only could cause a prisoner to suffer a stroke but that Israel actually had caused the Arab prisoner to suffer a stroke. Israel faces three choices which range from bad to unthinkable and all but one will raise instant worldwide and vehemently loud demonstrations. Should Israel feed the prisoner the screams of torture rise up. Should Israel obey International Law and allow the prisoner the right to dignity and die for their cause, the screams of murderers rise up. Only if Israel surrenders to their demands will Israel not be derided before the world, the only result of giving in to their demands will be an immediate new strike demanding even deeper concessions and another after that and another and another on and on. Where would that end? The end result would be Israel having to return to choosing feeding the prisoners and facing torture charges or not feed them and allow International Law to work to its final end result and the prisoners start to die and facing murder charges. Israel is in a no win situation and the Arab terrorists understand this so they hold hunger strikes and wait to scream that Israel is a monster and tortures prisoners or murders prisoners. Israel will choose accusations of torture by forced-feeding the hunger strikers. Sometimes doing the right thing and deciding on the side of life is difficult because we live in a strange and often cruel world but Israel will always choose life. This does not mean Israel will capitulate to demands but it does mean that Israel will risk the accusations of torture if that is what the world defines preserving human lives when that choice presents itself. Fortunately, most Israeli physicians also side with life and will claim that any prisoner pressing a hunger strike to the point where it will likely cause permanent damage is a decision which is proof of a lack of sanity and thus permits forced-feeding. The world does not agree, they want Israel to permit the hunger-striking prisoners to die as demanded by International Law such that they can then instead of having to settle for claiming that the Israeli forced-feeding is torture to Israel is murdering prisoners. Where is sanity, we ask you, where is sanity?
