Yom Yerushalayim, Jerusalem is the Heart of Israel

Sunday was Yom Yerushalayim, Jerusalem Day. This is the day on the Hebrew calendar when during the Six Day War that the IDF liberated the Temple Mount, the Old City and all of Jerusalem. For Israelis, this is a special day for a number of reasons. One thing is that the Six Day War was a war brought upon Israel because Gamal Abdel Nasser wanted to be the Arab leader who destroyed the Zionist Entity. There is one thing people need to know, in much of the Arab World they do not recognize the existence of Israel. They call Israel the Zionist Entity and believe it is a temporary contrivance placed there by Western powers to destroy their world. This is why the Arab World refuses to recognize Israel yet they are sworn to destroy the Zionist Entity. But Israel continues to live each day with much the same aspirations as any other people the globe over. We hope to be with loved ones, see friends, work if we have jobs or simply enjoy retirement if one is so fortunate. This Sunday was still a little special and there were celebrations and we had longer and more intensive services including reading Hallel as a sign of our joy and happiness for this day and the celebration of Yom Yerushalayim. The best example often comes from the students and others dancing at the Kotel, the Western Wall (video from last year below). That is what happens when we celebrate here in Israel, the young dance and the rest take energy from their exuberance. We dance in groups and sing in groups as one of the most important items in our lives is family and community, which for Jews are one and the same.

Then there were the youths who on the Temple Mount attempted to raise an Israeli flag. The authorities prevented this and removed those responsible. This led to other students breaking into song. What could be wrong with a little celebratory singing on Yom Yerushalayim? Is not singing one kind of universal celebratory action which is supposed to be almost contagious? Well, apparently Jewish youths singing is not appreciated on the Temple Mount and the Muslims started to riot. The news that Jews had the audacity to sing on the Temple Mount spread and the riot grew in intensity causing the authorities to make the usual action to calm the situation, they removed all Jews from the Temple Mount (see video below). This is unfortunately the way the authorities always react, if the Arabs riots, then the Jews are forced off the Temple Mount. If the Arabs continue to riot for more than one day, then the Temple Mount is closed to Jews until the Arabs get tired of rioting every day. This is the reason why the Arabs will often riot on the weeks leading up to major Jewish holidays and continue rioting through the Jewish holidays just to prevent the Jews from entering the Temple Mount on their holy days. There are many who believe that this policy actually encourages Arab rioting. The real problem is that when Israel made peace with Jordan, they permitted the Muslim Waqf to continue to govern the Muslim sites on the Temple Mount. The Waqf is under Jordanian rule and they have slowly over time expanded their definition of what exactly are the Muslim sites on the Temple Mount. Now they not only include the Dome of the Rock and al-Aksa Mosque but now they have included the Church of the Holy Sepulchre and have now declared every millimeter of ground of the Temple Mount as Islamic holy soil, which is why Jews singing is considered an insult.

There have been attempts by Arabs to expand the Islamic area beyond the Temple Mount to include the Western Wall and the plaza where Jews pray and where the students danced this Yom Yerushalayim (see set of images below). The Arabs believe that actually all of Jerusalem is supposed to belong to them as well as all the land which is recognized by the rest of the world as Israel. The Jews, according to the Muslim belief, have no right to self-governance and must submit to Islamic rule and recognize Islamic superiority. This is why the Arabs riot when Jews appear to be celebrating, as Jews have no right to celebrate either. Jews are supposed to look down and never raise their heads and look a Muslim directly face-to-face. Jews are supposed to be Dhimmi, second-class citizens, and respect their betters and submit to Islam. Islam means Submission when translated directly into English. Islam is also the name of a religion which demands submission by all to come under its rule, as prophesized as a promise from Allah to Muhammad. The Muslims are supposed to conquer the world and then bring all into their religion with those refusing meeting an unfortunate end.

This is also some of why the Gaza demonstrations have been challenging to overrun the border fence and swarm into Israel. They have been told that all the land and treasure of the Jews will belong to those Gazans who are able to take back what they believe is rightfully their land. Most of the rioters are well under the age of seventy which is how long Israel has been on the map surviving the 1948 attempted War of Annihilation when six Arab armies invaded Israel on the day of her founding. The Arab forces attempted to annihilate Israel again with the 1967 Six Day War and the 1973 Yom Kippur War and with the terror war which has continued since starting well before Israel became a nation. There were riots, as the British referred to them, throughout the 1920’s and 1930’s on through the founding of Israel leading up to the 1948 war. The belief that any land which ever came under Islamic rule must always remain under Islamic rule is why the Arabs are so incensed over the existence of Israel and why most of the Islamic World refers to Spain and Portugal as Andalusia and claim it will return to Islamic rule. The anger and words of war which accompanied President Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel was based on the same Islamic insistence on their superiority. Jerusalem could not be called the capital of Israel because within the Arab world there is no Israel. It can be confusing but if you stick with it, eventually it all makes sense, well, except the part where Israel will go away any moment now.

As mentioned, the Gaza riots along the border fence have been stated as intending to erase the border and remove the Zionist entity. The Arab rioting on the Temple Mount can be predicted to start whenever Jews are rumored to be praying, singing or even whispering while on the Temple Mount. All of these actions are considered to be an insult to Islam. Many Arabs consider Israel and Zionism to be an insult to Islam. Part of the dangerous problem on the Temple Mount come from the Jordanian Waqf which has expanded Islamic claims and often go along with the rumors that the Jews are attacking the al-Aqsa Mosque, defiling the al-Aqsa Mosque or holding satanic rituals in the al-Aqsa Mosque. This went along with the call for rioting made by Mahmoud Abbas when he blessed the holy blood spilled on the Temple Mount and that they will not permit Jews to defile with filthy feet while claiming even the Church of the Holy Sepulchre as Islamic (see video below). These are glimpses into the Arab cause for insanity over anything which gives the Israelis joy, especially if it involves Jerusalem.

Today will be the ceremony declaring the United States Embassy open in Jerusalem. The President’s daughter and her husband will be attending. We imagine security in Jerusalem being at a level beyond imagination. They arrived yesterday during celebrations of Yom Yerushalayim (see video of arrival below). They would likely have heard many of the celebratory singing and the ceremony today may simply prolong the celebratory activities. Thanks to President Trump and the opening of the new embassy, perhaps in the future we will just have to celebrate two days of Yom Yerushalayim, just because. After all, we Israelis do like singing and dancing and having one more reason never hurts. What should be more interesting is that tomorrow is what the Arabs call Naqba Day, the day on the Gregorian calendar when Israel was founded. Not to worry, the President’s daughter and husband will either have been safely on their way to Washington D.C. or safely in their hotel or sightseeing with their own security detail and probably an Israeli detail as well.

This week will go down as definitely a week full of emotions and excitement. Yom Yerushalayim followed by the dedication of the Jerusalem United States Embassy and then the demonstrations by the Arabs for Naqba Day.

The Muslim Challenge

Islam periodically since its birth tests the world and the strength of the backbone and the willingness of the world to actually stand up and say, “No!” If the world shouts that no loud and clear, then Islam settles back down and waits a period of a few hundred years before rising again and testing the waters again. The most recent previous testing of the world’s waters was literally testing waters, the Mediterranean Sea and Atlantic Ocean near the North African coastlines. This was referred to as the Barbary Pirates who demanded the Jiyza from the Western World in order to allow their merchants to sail the seas in safety. Of course, there was still the occasional, well, more like regular stopping of ships and stealing their contents and some of the sailors taken in to serve the Muslims as slaves. In cases that are more drastic, the Barbary Pirates would sink a ship taking the entirety of the crew into captivity for ransoming the officers and slavery for the working sailors. The problem first met with the Americans, they chose the same treatment as the Europeans had taken, paying the ransoms. Throughout the terms of the first two Presidents, George Washington and John Adams and during the term of Thomas Jefferson, the third and most isolationist and noninterventionist President, who finally reached the point where the demanded ransoms became too high for the young nation to afford, and this brought on the First Barbary War. Once the Americans had engaged and defeated the Barbary Pirates, the Europeans also stopped paying their protection demands and instead patrolled their trade routes with naval warships. This ended the Barbary Pirates for a period of time and after the war between the British and the United States in the War of 1812, the Barbary Pirates thought perhaps the two largest navies, Britain and the United States, having fought a war and might be less likely to fight against them and their pirating resumed. The United States soon thereafter engaged in the Second Barbary War and again they defeated the Barbary Caliph and a second peace was reached ending the Islamic pirating of the trade routes.

The recent history with the rise of al-Qaeda, the Taliban and finally Islamic State, the world is once again facing the Islamic pressures to see if the world will resist or simply roll over and submit to Islamic demands and dominance. Once again, the Europeans do not appear to care to engage in any resistance and some have even gone so far as to invite the Islamic refugees into their nation with Germany taking the lead. There are some exceptions that have surfaced from eastern Europe such as Poland, Hungary and the Czech Republic, three of the eastern European nations which the European Union has launched a legal case for their refusal to take in Arab refugees. There were others, but the European Union has specific persons they wish to intimidate and the most successful of the former Warsaw Nations so as to force them to knuckle under to their leftist policies. The Warsaw nations have witnessed a lifetime of leftist policies and politics from the Soviet Union and want nothing to do with such policies again. They demand to be permitted to draw their own lines of travel in politics, economics and other vital policies which are very different from those the western or old European nations and the established European Union members. These newer eastern European nations may find they will have a new friend from an unexpected source, merry olde England and the British Isles. These former Warsaw nations may be forgoing taking in refugees for economic reasons or for political reasons, that is irrelevant. What is important is they are taking a stand against the encroachment by Islamic forces, be they refugees or as some have claimed, an advance force in the lead of an Islamic invasion and conquest of Europe. This may appear to be somewhat of a preposterous idea or it may be valid, as Islam has attempted three times to conquer Europe, once being stopped at the Battle of Tours by Charles the Hammer Martel and twice at the gates of Vienna, once by Polish King John III Sobieski and his Polish hussars. Perhaps those who believe this may be the start of a fourth attempt by Islam to spread and conquer Europe may be correct or at least have at least a shred of good sense to be warning such.

That leads to the current state of the Middle East. If one were to plot the wave of violence spread across the Middle East and one would find it has two sources, two sources which may be linked in some means. The initial cause could be traced to the United States and what many have called an ignorant and foolhardy foreign policy steeped in mistaken concepts, while others might believe that there was a central underlying goal behind the policies of President Obama. There was some who posited that President Obama was simply pro-Arab while others thought he was a supporter of the Shiite branch of Islam. There is a third possibility in that President Obama desired an opposing force to counter Israel in the Middle East seeing such a force could be the answer through which Israel could be forced to make a peace demanded of them in exchange for the offer of protection. His initial push was with the Muslim Brotherhood which he worked to install in Egypt and might have hoped for them to also rise to power in Syria after removing Bashar al-Assad and likely have them replace King Hussein in Jordan and surrounding Israel. The Muslim Brotherhood failed in every place which they had hoped. This may have been what led President Obama to seek a new champion with who to finalize his Middle East plans and pose as his necessary opposing force to cow Israel into allowing a Palestinian State by whatever borders were offered by President Obama and the State Department. Iran was the next choice to fulfill President Obama’s hopes but time ran out. Iran had their designs as well which included the Shiite Crescent and surrounding Saudi Arabia, their main adversary and the center of Sunni Islam (see map below). This required their supporting the Shiite takeover in Iran which required strengthening the Shiite governance and cleansing of any and all Sunni influence. Then there was another pair of challenges even further afield, Yemen and Syria. President Obama had caused sufficient distress in Syria when pressing to have the Muslim Brotherhood replace Assad and the Iranians required placing him back into power. In Yemen, the Iranians required to control Yemen as it gives them a southern front against Saudi Arabia and gives them the Bab-el-Mandeb Straight and control of the southern exit from the Red Sea. Yemen required the overthrow of the existing government, so the Iranians backed the Houthi rebels in another civil war. Once Yemen and Syria are consolidated the Iranians may finally be in the position required to threaten Israel for President Obama, but they are a year or more too late and the new President, Donald Trump, has no plans, as far as any can see, to press Israel into a peace they cannot survive.

Islam, be it the Muslim Brotherhood, Islamic State, al-Qaeda, Hamas, Palestinian Authority, Iran, terrorists striking Western cities or the waves of refugees flowing into Europe; they are all signs of a resurgent Islam, though from different perspectives, which if left unchecked will simply continue to gain strength and grow more and more virulent. This has been the case before with the birth of the Caliphate, the Ottoman expansion, the Barbary Pirates and now with both of the major strains of Islam, Sunni and Shiite. The question is will the Western powers raise up and face the growing threat or will they wait and suffer the advances and insults from Islam as they did the Barbary Pirates until it was all but too late or will they see the coming storm and band together and make the proper united front before it becomes too dire and the conflict that results in a carnage from which the world may not survive. It will take the presence of worldview from the United States to lead the Europeans. The eastern nations are still growing from their release from Communism and the others still believe that the end of history has occurred and the world will have no more conflicts. Unfortunately, the United States is also not likely to realize what is infecting the world as the President knows only what he has been told and then only until another five thoughts come his way pushing the former out into oblivion. One can only wonder if the Pentagon survived the evisceration by President Obama of the generals with the most combat experience to also see what is forming in the not so distant mists of the future. One would think with so many generals including two Marines that they might be capable of finding a clue about the coming threats, but then they might be uncertain as to how their President might handle such news as he has likely stated that his only concerns are the economy and domestic issues and prefers for foreign entanglements to be avoided as he has no knowledge or interest in the world outside of trade. Whatever the truth, it may be fortunate that the Middle East is still having convulsions as such a series of events may delay any complete resurgence for Islam until the world is ready, and perhaps not. The future is on shaky ground, the ground is simply getting less and less stable with time, and much of that is due to the growing restlessness of Islam. It might even take Russia or China to show the world the need for actions before the situation becomes formidable, or worse, unstoppable. Islam is following the same path it has in the past, will anybody ever sit up and take notice, that is the question of the hour.

Rape, Sexual Harassment and Feminist Hypocrisy

Let us all admit this right up front, Harvey Weinstein was and probably still is a pig and a disgusting one at that. He deserves much of the scorn for his practices and using other human beings as sex objects, toys even. We should also accept that he operated in this fashion in a time when such was more of a common practice than today and was almost alive during times when slaves existed in many places around the globe openly. If we were to be complete honest about this practice, then we should expect to have much, if not most, of Hollywood, producers, major stars and starlets and to be sure, male and female sexual predators alike. But that is simply Hollywood and the sexual harassment and worse produced as matter of fact coin of the realm.

What about one who preached modesty for women, proper behavior and restraint for women, unbecoming clothing to hide the female form all so men would not act like the sexual predatory animals they presumably are and then acted exactly as one of those predatory animals men presumably are? Should the feminist lobby and membership be outraged or understanding as this presumably honorable man has been accused of acting boorishly, committing rape and taking advantage of his position of power and influence in order to take advantage of women who trusted him. The man holds and has held prestigious positions such as a former Professor of Contemporary Islamic Studies in the Faculty of Oriental Studies at St Antony’s College, Oxford, and also teaches at the Faculty of Theology and Religion, University of Oxford, is a visiting professor at the Faculty of Islamic Studies at Hamad Bin Khalifa University in Qatar, and the Université Mundiapolis in Morocco plus is also a senior research fellow at Doshisha University in Japan and is a Swiss academic, philosopher and writer. Since the accusations of sexual misconduct have piled up with some of the women unknowns, a few women of stature have also brought accusations that in their youth when they were not accomplished, they had been victims of this illustrious man of religion.

The man in question, as you have all probably recognized already, is Tariq Ramadan, the Islamic Imam extraordinaire of Europe and as much loved and respected by the seculars of Europe as he is by Muslims the world over. The allegations against Tariq Ramadan must be addressed seriously just as they would be inspected with all seriousness were this a cleric of another religion. Imagine how seriously women would be taken if they were to come forward with similar charges against one of the Catholic Bishops or Cardinals claiming that as a priest they had molested and raped these women in their youth or if high clergy of a protestant church or respected Rabbi were accused of these same charges. In any of these cases, the women would be canonized by the Feminist Movement and these Christian or Judaic clergy, religious men would not be permitted an ounce of sympathy and would be held accountable and their accusers believed just as have the charges against Harvey Weinstein. It has taken Oxford University a number of weeks before deciding to influence Tariq Ramadan to take a leave of absence until these matters have been cleared. The basic response in Europe has been to treat him with kid gloves and accuse the women of slander and protest their absurd and contemptible accusations against such a man who stands above reproach.

Islamic Imam Extraordinaire of Europe Tariq Ramadan

Islamic Imam Extraordinaire of Europe Tariq Ramadan

Did we miss the demand that we return to the 1950s or earlier where a woman accusing a man of rape was ridiculed and charged with asking for it or is this a unique case where the person accused is absolved due to their religious orientation granting automatic immunity against such charges. To claim that Tariq Ramadan cannot be held to the same standards as other men is to support the Islamic claim that if a woman was raped, then she deserved it unless she can produce four men to support her claims and were witness to such an act. There would never be four men who would claim to have witnessed such an act as rape and not intervened to prevent such an abhorrent act, thus the women could never produce sufficient witness to uphold her wild accusations. Tariq Ramadan would be dismissed as innocent and his accusers stoned in Iran, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Syria and much of the Islamic world. In reality, no woman would dare bring such charges in a Muslim nation, as they would know they were risking their own lives with such an accusation. To bring a charge such as these against a man of the stature and position of Tariq Ramadan would be certain death. Fortunately, these women are in the Western World and thus are not risking their lives, only their reputations.

But will being in the Western World make their accusations any more productive or will they be discarded as foolish women who should have known and expected such treatment from Tariq Ramadan meeting him in a private location without witnesses. They must have known that being alone with a Muslim man would drive his sexual desires beyond his abilities to control his actions. What were they thinking, one meeting him alone in a hotel room, she had to realize that he was inviting her to his own little den of iniquity. Meeting him alone anywhere, his office at Oxford, a meeting room at an Islamic Center, any location unsupervised would simply be an invitation to do with them as he pleased and he pleased to please them, or himself. These were Muslim women and one admitted to meeting him unveiled and wearing close fitting Western clothing which was in fashion, she had to be temporarily insane to agree to meet dressed thusly. These other students, they were likely improperly dressed to be meeting a Muslim man alone in an unobserved and remote location. The Quran warns women not to place themselves around Islamic men in any place or situation where the men might act animalistic as this is a temptation which no man can resist. Tariq Ramadan is being charged with being a man, a normal man under Islamic belief and as such, he could not be expected to withhold his desires and lusts in the presence of such temptresses. Obviously, the officials and public throughout Europe are well versed in all things Islamic and have already reached their verdict, Tariq Ramadan was acting as a man and these women are to blame for his actions against them as they were asking for it. They placed candy before an infantile mind and the child-man simply took the candy, what did they expect. If these women honestly believe that Tariq Ramadan did something untoward to them, maybe they should go back and consider the stress and irresistible temptations they placed before him and the terrible situation they imposed tempting him in such an unholy manner. To have expected anything different than what they received was simply ignorance and after all, would not any women accepting such a meeting with Tariq Ramadan be doing so knowing the result and secretly desiring such an end? We must understand that these women had glanced the beatific aura and rugged handsomeness that was Tariq Ramadan (see image below) and were taken by his radiance as well as the powerful positions he held and importance in the Islamic World, it is no wonder they sought to tempt him so shamelessly.

Tariq Ramadan

Tariq Ramadan

The end of this series of events, or fiasco depending on one’s predisposition, is still something we will need patience to wait and then ascertain. The initial reading of the tea leaves would indicate that Tariq Ramadan will lose some of his sheen but still be considered a radiant and brilliant person above reproach in the finer societies of Europe and for the leftists in the United States. He might lose his position at Oxford but is more likely to be granted a sabbatical to return to somewhere in the Middle East to further his studies only to make a triumphant return in a year to eighteen months. The women will be insisted to be more reserved and to reconsider their charges. Most will be glad to escape this circus intact and not permanently labeled as a woman without morals, as an easy woman. Hopefully, some will stick to their guns and perhaps receive support from some more prominent women, possibly Muslim women of prominence with a similar story from their past and Tariq Ramadan. There must be some Muslim woman who he demanded favors for a recommendation early in their career. Such a woman making an accusation would be risking becoming a pariah in the Islamic World and be without any support from the Islamic World. They would be signing their own death act should they return to the wrong country in the Middle East, North Africa or anywhere where Sharia is enforced. They would be best advised to avoid many of the Muslim neighborhoods where they enforce their own laws in Europe, the United States or elsewhere in the world. They would no longer be acceptable should they bring down a Muslim man for sexual misconduct as such so rarely exists in the Islamic World as to be considered an impossibility, something one would probably never witness in their lives. These women would become ostracized and face the wrath of Allah according to most Imams. This is the risk each of these women who have made accusations is already facing and that alone adds credence to their claims. The result of these claims and possible future claims will be interesting to watch, not so much the actions in Europe and the United States but throughout the Islamic World, that is where change is necessary and the reaction to this fiasco, as it is currently playing out, will tell us much about the future of the Muslim World, and thus the rest of the world as well.
