Replacing the Two State Paradigm

The death of the whole concept of a two states living side-by-side in peace, security and viability is finally fading as the realism that the Arab Palestinians can never be placated. Their demand that they get all or the war continues until the Jews run away or are annihilated has finally begun to wear even the two state supporters into a state of exhaustion from attempting to twist and ignore the Palestinian Authority’s (PA) leadership’s constant demands for more. The chanting by their supporters of the line they were fed calling out, “From the River to the Sea, Palestine must be free,” leaving no Israel simply made support more and more problematic. Sure, the young, the foolish and of course the anti-Semites thought that chant was a great idea as it either never occurred to them or they invited the mass slaughter of another six-million plus Jews at the altar of the inexorable march of Islam across the face of the earth. The fact is that the eventual chant would become, “From One Sea to Another Shore, We Want the World and a Little More,” and would be their referring to the United States and Canada on their way to conquering South America last. The old adage that, “What Starts with the Jews, Never Ends with the Jews,” implying that once any power decides to exert energies seeking a final solution to the “Jewish Problem,” these efforts soon widen to include far more than just the Jews, nor will it end with the Roma or the Evangelical Christians or any other opposing people until all have been cleansed. For proof of this just visit the original home of Islam, Saudi Arabia, and check out the laws concerning any religion or philosophy other than that proscribed by Islam, particularly Sunni Islam and then the Medina Quran over the Mecca Quran (Explained here) which strictly protect Islam as the only religion by which a nation can be ruled, period. There you might be introduced to the concept of the Islamic Waqf which defines any lands ever conquered by Islamic forces must forever remain under Islamic rule or face continuous efforts by force of arms or political pressures to be surrendered once more to Islam and held as such for all time.

Surrender is a term used to define Islam as their prayers are a sign that they have surrendered their will, their spirit, their body and mind to Allah and have no will independent from the traditions and interpretations of the Quran. This renders the Imams as the deciders of Islamic life and which verses of the Quran are to be applied. Sometime early in Islam, some say by Mohammad on his death bed but most scholars relent on that claim and tend to agree that this particular Surah 2:106: which is called the Abrogation Surah which makes the Medina verses of the Quran superior and replacing those Meccan verses that contradict or alter (see Arabic and translation below).

Surah Al-Baqarah [2:106]

Quran Surah Al-Baqarah [2-106]

None of Our revelations do We abrogate or cause to be forgotten, but We substitute something better or similar: Knowest thou not that Allah Hath power over all things?

The disbelievers, pagans, Christians and especially Jews must be forced to surrender to the Islamic forces and to Allah after their defeat or put to the sword, which is a simple euphemism for murdered or put to death. Believers need to have already surrendered to Allah and thus to Islam which in the end becomes surrender and obey their Imam. This is one reason that Western nations need monitor what the lessons, sermons, preaching, beliefs and interpretations of the Quran are as it is in the final end the Imams who define Islam. This was the reason the Egyptian President Sisi stood before the Imams of Al-Azhar University (pictured below).

The final nail in the coffin, which lowered and all threw dirt as their sign that there could be no compromise, was a few weeks, maybe a month ago, when the Fatah, PLO and even PA all, without a single word of correction from Mahmoud Abbas, the ruling potentate over all things out of Ramallah declared all of their claimed Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea as an Islamic Waqf which meant literally that even a Jew taking sand from the beach in Nehariya, Israel, or anywhere else in Israel, onto a plane and leaving would technically require their being hunted down so those few grains of sand could complete their Islamic Waqf. Abbas has permitted and thus accepted what they had claimed amongst themselves and finally it has been translated by one of the major sources of such translations, Palestinian Media Watch, who recorded and translated a Ramadan Broadcast of PA State Television Broadcast. The presenter, Najeh Bakirat, is listed as the director of this PA TV program and also appears on the show as one of the presenters and was once amongst the officers in Fatah and was assigned his current posting as a director of PA-TV. As defined above, PMW also stated that a Waqf is an inalienable religious endowment in Islamic law which may not be permitted to be transgressed, especially by an infidel and even more offensively, by Jews who are seen as descendants of apes and pigs.

PA TV Ramadan lesson teaches that Islam prohibits Israel’s right to exist: “Holy Palestine is a waqf… It is forbidden to relinquish a single grain of its soil”
Head of the Waqf’s Al-Aqsa Academy of Heritage and Antiquities Najeh Bakirat: “Every grain of soil in Palestine (i.e., including all of Israel) is ours. The status of Hebron is part of the status of Palestine, as it is an integral part of the Palestinian land, like the status of Nazareth in our eyes, and Acre, Haifa, and Jaffa (i.e., all are cities in Israel). Every grain of soil in Palestine is part of the blessed Palestine, the holy Palestine which is a waqf. Therefore it is forbidden to relinquish a single grain of its soil.”

This marks the absolute end to any chance for a compromise as this announcement has ended all room for there to be but one state and all that is left to determine is whether the state will be another Islamic State or remain the Jewish State, as was the original plan when the British Mandate was adopted and the Zionist Congress agreed to the partition with lands east of the Jordan belonging to the Arab State of Transjordan (later renamed simply Jordan) and the lands west of the Jordan River for the Jewish State. This was the original plans as set forth under the League of Nations and enforceable under Article 80 in the United Nations Charter and as such inviolable even by the Security Council and definitively by the General assembly. This makes all recognition of any Arab or “Palestinian” state an inconceivable notion. Every attempted recognition of such a state when challenged in the International Court of Justice (ICJ) would unquestionably and close to immediately be refuted and rescinded as there is but one state approved by world recognition and that would be Israel as the State for the Jews.

So, what is a viable, logical, actionable and workable solution, the bi-national state incorporated over time with an incentive plan for Arabs, particularly those prescribing to Islamic supremacy, to leave to reside outside of the Jewish State, outside their loathed Zionist Entity. The first reality would be the changing of the current school systems run by UNRWA or the PA to Israeli run schools under the same administration as are the schools within Israel. Further, the controlling administration of the schools would come under review and if the current system of teachers and administrators once reviewed are found to be incapable of teaching the provided syllabus provided every school, those found to be inadequate would necessarily be replaced. The administrating would be exactly the same as currently exists within Israel. Religious academies, which would include Madrassas, would all be held to including a core set of programs and this would end the argument that religious schools need not teach secular programs or other required and necessary lessons which all public schools are required to teach for graduation. The universities and colleges would also be regulated and their curriculum monitored to assure that they were not teaching courses which included subversive or anti-Semitic, anti-Israeli, Anti-Zionist, Anti-Christian, Anti-Muslim or any other negative education villainizing or disparaging any religion, race, ethnicity, physically challenged, mentally challenged, sexual orientation, gender or age group. This does not require one to ignore, omit, alter or otherwise curtail the teaching of a religion’s holy books in any manner or to change the wordings or definitions even when such appears to go against the previous restrictions though it would be prudent to teach to hate the act, the sin and to love the person; and that it is one’s responsibility not to change but to enlighten them of the words in scripture without belittling or threatening them in any way. These areas must be handled with tact and often if one is unsure they should take an approach of caution. It is important for a multicultural and multi-ethnic society with peoples from varied origins and numerous religions, even if Judaism remains the dominant religion of influence on the laws and mood of the majority of the society and the religion given greater though not undue influence on the society.

It would also be necessary to enact a law which would deport all members of a family who included any members involved in terrorism. This would include those planning, financing, producing weapons, explosives, rockets, munitions or storing same and anyone caught performing an attack of a terrorist nature despite their religion. This would include Jews, Muslims, Christians or any other or no religion as when it comes to the law there can be no exceptions. Even government employees and even Minister of the Knesset would not be exempt if they partook in terrorist activities. The current residents of the PA and all PA citizens would initially be granted resident alien status and would be required to apply and go through an approved set of courses and prove proficiency in knowledge deemed required of any citizen which should be equivalent to the knowledge of government and Israeli and Jewish history to give them a fundamental understanding of the Jews attachment to these lands and their difficulties both in Christian, Islamic and other societies.

Finally, there would be an incentive program to buy at over market price any properties, business assets not taken with those availing themselves of the buy-out and an added incentive plus arranged transportation to any nation to which any resident of the PA or even Israelis regardless of religion, race, ethnicity or other considerations. The added incentive will be proportional to expected costs of resettlement and weighed within reason and would have a set price which would be considered higher than the mean or average of resettlement costs. Needless to mention is this would make moving to a nation where prices are more reasonable would make the bonus go much further than say moving to Germany or the United States, especially the state of Hawaii. This program would last a defined amount of time, perhaps a decade and after that you make out the best you are able. There would necessarily be other requirements and restrictions likely prove required as deficiencies become apparent but this would be a start, hopefully a good start.

What Price for Release of Jonathan Pollard?

According to The Wall Street Journal, American officials said on Friday that there is reported information that the Obama administration is preparing to release Jonathan Pollard. So it begins once again, the rumored word that President Obama may or may not be considering allowing the release of Jonathan Pollard in the next few days, weeks, months after Parole Board of the Justice Department ruling due to be held for Jonathan Pollard November 21, 2015. So, just for the record we may as well get the blizzard of quotes out of the way and then editorialize.

In a vaguely stated release it was noted that some officials had strongly denied on Friday that there was any link between the Iran deal and the prospective release of Jonathan Pollard, stating that any decision to release Jonathan Pollard would be made by the United States Parole Commission.

When any comment was requested of the White House a spokesperson referred questions to be addressed to the Justice Department whose spokesperson declined to comment on a matter as such might prejudice the case which may be coming up or not before the Parole Commission.
The AFP reported that in a similar vein, a National Security Council spokesperson emphatically stated that the timing of the rumored release was not part of any deal concerning or in any way having to do with any deal and was purely to be considered without prejudice by the United States Parole Commission and the Department of Justice.

A report recently aired in the Algemeiner claimed, the Justice Department is “seriously considering” releasing the 61 year-old Jonathan Pollard on November 21.

Alistair Baskey stated for the record, “Mr. Pollard’s status will be determined by the United States Parole Commission according to standard procedures.” He went on to firmly emphasize, “There is absolutely zero linkage between Mr. Pollard’s status and foreign policy considerations.”

Further quotes and statements sent to President Obama three years ago when Jonathan Pollard was approaching completion of serving his twenty-seventh year of imprisonment and the signs it was beginning to have physical effects upon his health, a group favoring his release made the following video:

The running theme in these most recent speculations and the commentary from Administration and Government spokespeople stresses this one central point, namely that any consideration at this time have nothing, repeat, absolutely nothing to do with the recent deterioration of relations between President Barack Hussein Obama, Secretary of State John Kerry over the Iranian Nuclear Agreement signed this past week in Vienna. These claims appear to mirror the claims that United States Defense Secretary Ashton Carter arrival this week in Israel also was not going to in any way promise arms, protection or anything additional in the relations between any of the nations on his trip to the Middle East, especially on his stops in Israel and Saudi Arabia. His visit, it was stressed, will not be addressing the Iranian Nuclear Agreement and is in no way connected to that deal. This is purely a scheduled review of military preparedness and an opportunity for allies to exchange information and express their mutual needs and expectations while discussing the situations in the Middle East except there will not be couched any references about the recent Iranian Nuclear Agreement. That sets my mind so much at ease to know that Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter’s visit is purely to converse about defense matters and to address any expectations each side may have with the other and, of course, to address any weapons requests as might be seen to be necessary to fill in gaps in the allies and their total encompassing defensive weapons systems. Any appearance that this might be a mission to provide weapons systems as bribes to keep old allies less demonstrative in their concerns about the latest developments and their possible signaling of a new alignment in the Middle East as nothing could be further from the truth, honest.

We will likely see how much the visit by Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter results in the toning down of Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and his protestations over the Iranian Nuclear Agreement and his voicing his hopes and expectations for the United States Congress to pass legislation blocking the United States participation for the deal. The only problem with such reasoning is this line leads one to believe that the United States Congress could be duly influenced by any additional caterwauling by the Israeli Prime Minister. True, his might be amongst the considerations though his position is well known and his continued rants will prove ineffectual as those who are opposed to this deal and pretty much set in stone as are those who wish to support the President in his foreign policy moves as they may feel the President is privileged to certain information which Congress may not possess and others simply desire to support their party’s President as he is in many ways their President. If Netanyahu’s statements are to have any additional effects they will be due to constituents agreeing with his views being driven to write their Congressmen and Senators and give them their advice and stand on this issue which might actually make a difference because votes come election time are what matters and people who write their representatives are the type who remember your voting record.

In all honesty, where weapons might be of some use, it would be especially helpful to park an Aegis Destroyer just off Tel Aviv might be very useful providing their radar was directly made available to the Israelis as the Aegis systems are amongst the most advanced in the world. Further, should this Aegis Destroyer be equipped with Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) Army anti-ballistic missile systems, it would be considered extremely nice if it would assist in the elimination of any ballistic missile threats perceived to be incoming as any assistance to the Israeli systems would be appreciated. We here at Beyond the Cusp would be particularly appreciative if any missile be computed to strike along the shores of the Mediterranean and just south of the Lebanon border being intercepted, especially if they were targeting town hall square in Nahariya, really appreciative. If such would be asking too much, that would be just fine as the Israeli intercept systems are very robust, especially in the short and mid-range missiles, rockets, mortars and potentially artillery rounds as the Iron Dome tracking ability gives very accurate real time launch and trajectory path information used largely for decisions by the Iron Dome whether the projectile will strike a built up area or in a field away from any civilian or known military positions and habitats and whether or not to fire an expensive intercept missile.

Last summer delivered intercept rating of over ninety percent accurate detection, decision-making and striking rate as something thought near impossible just a few years ago and right up until the Iron Dome’s performance under wartime conditions and heavy bombardment their performance was a miracle. The true miracle though came after an Iron Dome battery had the unthinkable occur, but perhaps it is best to allow the unit in charge of this battery tell this miracle of a true event,

“A missile was fired from Gaza. Iron Dome precisely calculated [its trajectory]. We know where these missiles are going to land down to a radius of 200 meters. This particular missile was going to hit either the Azrieli Towers, the Kirya (Israel’s equivalent of the Pentagon) or [a central Tel Aviv railway station]. Hundreds could have died.”
“We fired the first [interceptor]. It missed. Second [interceptor]. It missed. This is very rare. I was in shock. At this point we had just four seconds until the missile lands. We had already notified emergency services to converge on the target location and had warned of a mass-casualty incident.”
“Suddenly, Iron Dome (which calculates wind speeds, among other things) shows a major wind coming from the east, a strong wind that…sends the missile into the sea. We were all stunned. I stood up and shouted, ‘There is a G0d!’ I witnessed this miracle with my own eyes. It was not told or reported to me. I saw the hand of G0d send that missile into the sea.”

Just an explanation from an United States Army anti-tank M67 90mm recoilless rifle bearer, a weapon which fires what is called a ‘fire and forget’ round, which means once fired you are finished aiming it, it goes straight until it strikes the target, a tree or the ground. The necessary wind to blow a rocket off course such a distance as described would also be sufficient to put every last soldier and anybody else on the ground either in a ditch or blown off their feet tumbling until they find somewhere to duck. The strong wind needed to so divert a rocket that close to target would be in excess of one-hundred MPH or one-hundred-sixty-one KPH. Such is well beyond a strong wind and we are talking even above gale force winds and into category-two hurricane force winds. The 90mm rockets fired in various conditions from thirty degrees below zero Fahrenheit (minus thirty four and a half degrees Celsius) to over one hundred degrees Fahrenheit (almost thirty-eight degrees Celsius) with wind as high as forty MPH (sixty-four KPH) and the effect on the rocket was most affected by the thirty below zero temperature as being a solid fueled rocket it accelerated extremely slowly at that temperature but still flew straight. The rocket most likely to have been targeted at Tel Aviv would be the Hamas named M-75 rocket which they build using the Syrian provided plans for the M-302 Chinese WS-2 and the Iranian 333-mm Fajr-5 carrying a 200-lb (90-kg) warhead up to 45 miles (75 km) would likewise be far too heavy and with insufficient side profile and being a round tube with fins is extremely stable in flight. Their being diverted by a strong wind would be possible but not at any sufficient strength that would not have had adverse effects on the people at the Iron Dome sight and the Tel Aviv area. With all things equal, I am glad that whatever or whomever interceded to divert what would have been a devastating rocket strike harmlessly out in the Mediterranean protecting us, all I can say is, “Bless and thank You, Hashem, bless and thank You from the deepest parts of my heart and soul and may Your blessings always be deserved by Israel and her people.”

Perhaps Hashem might also give the United States officials or President Obama a slight nudge and return Jonathan Pollard to his wife and family while his health makes such a reunion a far more joyous occasion and that he may heal while under Your kindness and the wonderful climate and wondrous rains that grace our crops and refresh the rivers and lakes so necessary to life and for this we give our thanks, even those who give it little thought, those little thoughts are their manner of thanking You Hashem as even the slightest of our thoughts which are pleasant are a gift You permit us as Your consideration of us as Your chosen and cherished friends and through whom You wish to bless others who gain more in their lives that come from You through the inventive and wondrous imaginations granted us. Bless You Hashem for all You give us and the every amazement as we bask in the miracles presented us often unknown but never unappreciated are Your works. Bless Hashem and His miracles large and small.

Revelation on the Train to Nahariya

Needing to attend some seminars in Nahariya, I found myself taking the train along the Israeli coast from where we landed at Ben Gurion International Airport through Tel Aviv through Haifa and Akko on up to Nahariya. The advantage one enjoys in a train over driving is, obviously, looking around at the surrounding area. Sometimes just not needing to watch the traffic can become educational. Most people, and all those knowledgeable of matters in the Middle East, understand that should Israel surrender to the demands of much of the world, especially United States President Obama, to return to the pre 1967 Six Day War borders that the center of the country would only be a short nine miles. Many have also heard that giving the Palestinians the Judean Hills high ground would provide them with a platform for firing rockets into the heart of Israel from an area of great advantage. Despite this knowledge, very few of us, myself included, do not really put these two facts together and fully realize the full implications. My trip from the airport gave me a picture that is cemented in my mind’s eye (very different than John Kerry’s Cambodia mission seared into his memory as I did see the area I describe). So, the only question for me to answer is will I be able to impress on my readers the visual scene that struck me to my very soul. I really hope I am able to do so.

Even before the Mediterranean Sea came into view on the left side of the northbound train, one could see off a short way on the left the rising Judean Hills. The very same hills which the battles of Ruth are described in the Bible among numerous other battles the small nation of Israel has been forced to fight when attacked by neighboring peoples. The hills appear to be not all that far away from the train but extremely imposing. One can easily see the individual homes and structures built on the ridges and ledges on the sides of the hills and atop the hills. Each tree on the sides of the hills stands singularly in stark contrast. One can almost make out individual leaves and it is easy to notice the bare trunks and larger branches that make up the central spires of each tree. I was amazed at the height they commanded and the nearness they posed. I looked up the height of the area of the Judean Hills and they were approximately half a mile high. Within a few more miles approaching Haifa we could easily see the Mediterranean Sea to our left less than a half mile and maybe only a quarter of a mile at points from the tracks. Looking to the right and then the left back and forth between the two contrasting landscapes and it was astoundingly amazing how the two scenes on either side of the train could be so vastly different. One side waves riding up the beach with the froth as they break easily visible on one side contrasted with flat lands suddenly thrusting up standing overlooking the farms and homes like a proud guardian. The idea that those same hills could just as easily be the rising menacing threat to life instead of a guardian was readily obvious. Putting the two scenes together and one realized that somebody surfing those Mediterranean waves would stand out and be an easy target for a sniper with a scope. Somebody safe behind a wall could fire rockets and adjust their targeting with little to no threat to themselves but with deadly results from the foot of the hills all the way to the beach and out into the surf. The stark realities that in no sane and logical world can Israel be expected to allow any potential enemy, let alone a known terrorist enemy, to hold possession of the Judean Hills and continue to function as a nation. It was that simple and made perfectly clear with the proof  right there for my eyes to see and the shock my mind realized was truly frightening in its potentials for the future.

For those who might say that all of this does not matter and that Israel is obliged to return these areas to their rightful owner, I invite them to come and see for themselves. I realize that even seeing the reality before them would likely not change their genocidal thoughts. Those who demand Israel surrender these highlands to those sworn to destroy her and to do so with a murderous rage would also be the ones likely to celebrate the carnage after it became reality and not just a cold wish in their hate filled dreams. They claim that Israel stole the areas of Judea and Samaria which they use the convenience of the term West Bank as that steals from the names their actual Jewish history that Judea and Samaria connect to these lands. They go further and claim that it was from a country named Palestine that Israel conquered and took these lands. Really? Please show me any historic proof of a war between a country named Palestine and Israel. You very easily will be able to produce evidences of war between Israel and countries such as Egypt, Syria, Jordan, and Lebanon. With the smallest of additional efforts you will also include Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Iran, and possibly even Yemen. Go really into history and you might also include such names as the Canaanites, the Midianites, the Philistines, the Babylonians, the Assyrians, the Greeks, the Romans, the Hittites, and possibly the followers of Baal. But nowhere will you find a war between Israel, or Judea or the Jewish people and a nation named Palestine. Even if one were to claim that Israel attacked Egypt and Syria without ample provocation and thus may not continue to hold on to lands they occupied resulting from that war will run into two problems. The lesser one is that Israel had responded to a recognized act of war by Egypt when the Egyptians blockaded the Straits of Tiran and since at that time Egypt and Syria were under shared leadership representing the United Arab Republic (UAR) Israeli response to the act of war committed by Egypt placed them at war with both countries as they were connected under one ruler. It was after hearing the broadcasts out of Cairo and the rest of Egypt and the broadcasts from Damascus and the rest of Syria telling of their great victories and how they were almost entering Tel Aviv that Jordan saw the war as their opportunity to partake of a great victory. Israeli leaders, including a personal plea to King Hussein of Jordan from Prime Minister Levi Eshkol, pleaded with the King of Jordan not to enter the war telling him that the reports of a great victory were untrue and simple propaganda to cover up the massive losses of land, troops and equipment the Arab armies were suffering. Choosing not to believe the Israelis and instead believing his Arab allies reports, the King threw Jordan into the war where he lost the lands of Judea and Samaria to Israel. Since Jordan was seen as an occupier of the lands by almost the entire world having only England and Pakistan recognizing Jordanian claims to the lands, Israel was seen as having liberated Judea and Samaria. When Israel and Jordan signed their peace agreement, Jordan ceded the lands of Judea and Samaria to Israel. It was years later at the urgings of Yasser Arafat that the Jordanian government changed their historical record claiming they had ceded their claims to the PLO and Arafat. So, of the countries who made war with Israel in June of 1967, Jordan most definitely declared war and attacked Israel diverting forces heading to the Egyptian front to engage the attacking Jordanian army. Who attacked who between Israel and Jordan is without doubt and historically recognized and noted without even a shred of doubt. So, no matter how much one twists the Fourth Geneva Conventions,  Israel has complete and totally legal claim to all of Judea and Samaria including every inch of Jerusalem and the lands west of the Jordan River. Israeli claims are legal, justified, backed and verifiable whether you choose to use the Geneva Conventions or the Churchill White Papers which were issued when Britain formed what is today Jordan out of the Mandate Lands against all agreements and ratified treaties and numerous other agreements, treaties, and conventions established between 1900 and the 1930s. Still, the viewing of how close and the oversight of the lands of the Judean Hills was a sobering event in my life, and that is likely the important point here.
