When Opportunists Meet

 

Moshe Ya’alon rode his wave of disruption and vitriol for all it was worth on his way out the door after turning a reprimand and offer of peace into a council for war, a war against his former friend, Bibi Netanyahu. The final fuselages fired from Ya’alon’s political muskets were easily deflected by a simple set of truths. There was the open defiance of his generals followed by the expressed displeasure of the serving Prime Minister, the same Prime Minister who had entrusted in Ya’alon with the position of Defense Minister not expecting a challenge to Netanyahu’s right and fitness to lead Likud, a position he was elected to hold by the membership of Likud. Ya’alon sided with his generals and then encouraged them to further make waves for him to ride roughshod over Netanyahu in a naked aggression challenging for the top spot. Even this was not sufficient for Bibi to declare war as he is secure in his position. The Prime Minister followed this insult with a soothing balm in the form of the position of Foreign Minister, a fine appointment most would all but kill for, yet insufficient for the hungry Ya’alon who sees now as his time. Slamming the door behind as he left the building, Ya’alon declared his intentions to replace Netanyahu as leader of Likud at the next opportunity, now he just needed wait for said opportunity. But political ambition is not a patience game and one strikes while the iron is hot.

 

Ya’alon must have welcomed the charging of the Retired Generals in their blistering reports titled Security First penned and presented by a group of retired generals and other security chiefs self-defined with the name “Commanders for Israel’s Security”. Their plans were just a rehash of their defeatist plans of surrender land and expect peace, a trade which despite numerous trials has yet to produce a true peace with any level of security. But when has failure ever altered the political path these other opportunists who have jostled their final military assignments so as to position themselves as the saviors of Israel from a problem many were complicit in forming. We can expect more from these gems in the rough as they polish their acts and each other to a lustrous shine, but diamonds these are not.

 

Former Prime Minister, Defense Minister and opportunist extraordinaire who had played friend, mentor, commander, and opponent all when it comes to his presumed friend for the expedience, an expediency which we can assume has now past, rides in Ehud Barak. One can only fear that Tzipi Livni cannot be far behind, though she would likely be seen and avoided as Kryptonite as every political entity she has touched withered and died unchosen on the vine. Speaking Thursday at the Herzliya Conference Ehud Barak called for a “popular protest” going into the next elections in order to bring Netanyahu down from power. One can only assume he sees himself as the answer as he often has previously. His claim was summed up in the quote, “A fanatical nucleus of radical ideology has taken over the Likud by taking advantages of loopholes in the party’s constitution regarding primaries, and ‘cleansed’ Likud’s leadership of all those who valued democratic values more than populism or a temporary accomplishment.” Why not just call his former boss and prior supporter as well as adversary an adversary again, the time seems right and the correct attacks from the right people appear thick in the atmosphere, but is this political fog one of change or just a low lying haze blinding small men’s sight? Attacking the entire Zionist branch of the populace as well as their representatives in power, Barak went on to restate previously disproven canards declaring where the current dreaded path would lead pronouncing as proven fact that, “Implementing the government’s current policy will necessarily lead to an ‘apartheid state’ or a ‘binational state’ with a Jewish minority within a generation or two, with a high likelihood of being engaged in an ongoing civil war between its two parts.” Population statistics and all other studies performed on any logical assessment of annexation of Judea and Samaria have shown both the apartheid state’ or a ‘binational state’ accusations of unavoidability to be as false as predictable trends can prove, but why let facts get in the way of another attack from the leftist peace through surrender camp. Their previous peace through surrender in Lebanon and Gaza have turned out so well, why not triple down and bet the house one last time, and it will be the last time as those who are fortunate might escape back into the Diaspora.

 

Ehud Barak then pointed out that should Prime Minister Netanyahu take Israel down the dangerous path of annexation, even of the main settlement blocks, it would bring ruin down upon Israel and that the only true path would be to start and start immediately dismantling the Settlements in occupied West Bank and bring them back within the Green Line as such would pacify Europe, the United Nations, President Obama, and, most of all, the Palestinians. There would be peace and flowers would grow on barren soil and there would be peace, blessed peace. There is absolutely no possibility that Mahmoud Abbas would rain rockets tipped with sarin gas down on Tel Aviv at the sight of three soldiers talking as he would claim Israel was massing troops to invade and had to be prevented. The world would then congratulate Abbas for keeping the peace as he destroyed the other settlements temporarily occupied by Israel, the settlements of Tel Aviv, Ashdod, Netanya, Ma’alot, Ashkelon, Beersheba, Dimona, Eilat, Jaffa, Haifa and the rest as they join in the desire with Mahmoud Abbas that Israel, the Jewish State, must be destroyed and destroyed utterly. These are the voices and sounds of the next Holocaust waiting for some fool to facilitate it in the name of Peace.

 

Quoting Jeremiah 6:14 as was so famously performed by Patrick Henry in his speech to the Virginia House of Burgesses on March 23, 1775, considering ratification of the Declaration of Independence he talked of Peace, peace, but there is no peace, the speech in its entirety, one of the most powerful of all speeches throughout history, he concluded stating (full text of speech can be found here)


Gentlemen may cry, ‘Peace! Peace!’ but there is no peace. The war is actually begun! The next gale that sweeps from the north will bring to our ears the clash of resounding arms! Our brethren are already in the field! Why stand we here idle? What is it that gentlemen wish? What would they have? Is life so dear, or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery? Forbid it, Almighty God! Ya’alon, for his part, has changed his tune now referring to Iran as a minor nuisance and not an existential threat as he had previously claimed when serving as Defense Minister, something we can simply assure ourselves he was ordered to claim that by the warmonger Bibi in order to frighten the masses into continuing to keep him and his Zionist crazies in power. Never mind that Abbas has said so in just so many words, unfortunately in that coded language which none appear capable of translating or even reading other sources who have translated them for the lazy such as us, there can be no peace as long as even a millimeter of Palestinian Land is occupied. The evidence of the real Palestinian agenda is often laid bare for all to see but most just ignore the evidence and instead believe fairy-tales they have heard repeated by Western diplomats and politicians who want a Nobel Peace Prize which comes along with even a long handshake between Arabs and Israelis. When Soda Stream moved its Judea factory within the Green Line in the northern Negev, they were met by BDS (Boycott Divestment and Sanction of Israel) claiming a victory and then made known their new program against Soda Stream. The BDS claim was Soda Stream buckled under their pressure and then they immediately claimed that the new Soda Stream factory was built on ‘occupied, stolen’ land from the Bedouin town of Rahat, Israel. This is simply a case that the only thing acceptable to the BDS campaign is the eradication of Israel and every Jew residing there after which they would likely turn their sights on all other Jews. There is a reason their chant goes as it does other than to rhyme but to express their true goals when they proclaim, From the (Jordan) River to the (Mediterranean) Sea; Palestine Must Be Free!

 

 

These small and inconvenient facts do not bother the likes as the Retired Generals and Security Chiefs nor does it bother Moshe Ya’alon or Ehud Barak as any weapon in a fight is to be utilized and the war against Bibi Netanyahu must proceed despite any dangers which might arise. In this case not only does reality bite, but these opportunists chomp and chomp again at the bit just salivating for their chance to take home the prize. That is the reality that these opportunists live for and what they would be willing to allow all Israel to die for as a result. Just as long as they get to sit in the big chair in the big office being sought by small and petty men, that any consequence be damned as they demand their rightful prize. Further, it is tough out there but before jumping ship, and trust that we have our misgivings about Bibi and would love another choice of a viable and true Zionist, how much tougher will it be when the economic heart and soul of Israel lie smoldering with the acrid stench of death and chemicals fills the air? What is the use of new leadership at the helm steering the ship of state through coral shoals and waters if the mutineers have no true map, just this crazed notion that the sweet song from the shores is irresistible and they must draw nigh ignoring the jagged and sharp rocks and the broken timbers from previous ships who too ignored the warnings and answered the sweet Siren’s song. The sweet song of peace in our time has been tried countless times but there is a way which guarantees that Israel will live, that Am Yisroel Chai, and it comes from the Spartan phrase, the words of King Leonidas,

The Real Problem in Israel

 

Israel has a slew of little problems which all come from European broken promises and Islamic hatred. One might even make the claim that Israel had two problems and both could be solved if promises were kept and hatreds were parked and the rest of the world simply attempted to tend to their problems. Let us take a quick look at a few of the craziest demands made of Israel by the world’s busy bodies such as the European Union and numerous European governments, NGOs, oligarchs and politicians, people and organizations feeding on hatred and the driving desire to destroy the Jewish State and its Jews knowing that such would all but destroy the Jewish faith leaving a few scattered islands of Orthodox Jews living always nervously waiting for the authorities thumb to try and crush the life from their communities. The latest attempt to crush a small Jewish community came in Yemen where seventeen Yemenite Jews were rescued from the deadly civil war that has taken over their country as they were facing a threat of death or conversion and a daring rescue was arranged and they are safely in Israel with an absolutely immaculate 800-year-old Torah scroll (see below) and their Rabbi Saliman Dahari who arrived with his parents and his wife. Our deepest thanks to the United States State Department for making the initial snatch taking these refugees to a neutral nation and from there they were eventually taken to Israel. They were rescued in a complicated operation, which was conducted by the Jewish Agency and these Jewish refugees need not worry about what nation in the world might grant them asylum as Israel will go one better, they became Israeli citizens as soon as they landed and now they need pile through the paperwork as the bureaucrats must have their jobs and need to justify their salaries.

This has been the policy of Israel for almost seventy years and would have been the provisional Zionist Congress except the British overseeing their Mandate refused to permit Jews to flee Europe and escape the Nazi death camps which was also the British policy and the United States which refused to allow refugees attempting to escape Europe just as they refused to bomb the railroad tracks leading to Auschwitz but instead bombed the tracks at a junction five miles away cutting the town from the trains while still allowing their access to Auschwitz and Birkenau, the death camp attached to the labor camp. General Eisenhower insisted that the liberated camps be heavily documented with pictures, lots of pictures, because he said mankind must never forget this monstrosity and if we do not document it they most surely will. These are presumably Israeli allies who have Israel’s back in any situation.

Let’s take a quick look at these great allies; those who won World War II and some also were on the winning side in World War I. After granting the British control over Mandate Lands with which they were to establish a Jewish State, they immediately divided it giving it to the Arabs and the Hashemite King who had been replaced as the ruler of Mecca and Medina by the Saudi Royal Family. The British had promised, well, Colonel Thomas Edward Lawrence (Lawrence of Arabia) promised lands to the Hashemites and their ruler and they received all of the lands east of the Jordan River up to and bordering Iraq in the east, Syria in the north, Saudi Arabia in the south and the Jordan River in the west. The area which was the British Mandate west of the Jordan River had been ruled over by empire after empire with none making any city within the geographical area since Judea broke free from Greek rule making Jerusalem their Capital City. Previous to this state, Judea had survived after the Ten Tribes of Israel were conquered by the Assyrians. Eventually Judea fell but still no conqueror ever made their capital city within the lands which had made up Israel and Judea.

 

Modern Israel and the initial influx of Jews who drained swamps, constructed water works for irrigation, constructed roads, established commerce and manufacturing was the impetus for Arabs, Muslims and Christians from as far as Yemen, Algeria, Turkey as well as adjacent French Mandate lands, Syria, Jordan (or Transjordan), Saudi Arabia, Iran and even Afghanistan. There has been a Jewish population in Jerusalem consistently from before the Roman Empire swept through, before Alexander the Great, before Assyria and even before Persia engaged Greece and before Babylon. Jerusalem was the Capital city since King David conquered the great walled city and remained under Jewish rule for over seven-hundred-fifty years with the First Temple constructed by King Solomon as King David was forbidden as he had far too much blood on his hands. We need to realize that Buddha was born either in 563 BCE or c. 480 BCE, Confucius was born 551 BCE and the Second Temple was built in between 515 BCE or 550 BCE as the Jews go back a large amount earlier.

Israel is today being reasonable in claiming the lands between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea with the Golan Heights and as far as the eastern bank of the Sea of Galilee, that can be negotiated with Jordan. As for the Arabs who are demanding their own nation, may we suggest somewhere in central region of what used to be Syria. If they choose they could seek residence in Jordan, Egypt, Lebanon, Syria or wherever they have relatives residing as it could be used as a reattachment with their family or tribal groups. If they would prefer attempting to have any success in Europe, Israel would wish them well. The United States or South America might provide them new homes. The Jews for the first twenty years of Israeli existence the refugees continued in a steady stream sometimes seemingly overflowing with refugees thrown from their lands without being allowed to take more than they could reasonably carry. They received no payment for any property such as homes, businesses, inventory, artwork, jewelry and the list seems endless. Well over two-million Jewish refugees have been absorbed by Israel after they were driven from their lands and these refugees are far from the only refugees as Israel has absorbed displaced Christians and Baha’i from the Muslim world. Israel has more recently gone and saved threatened Jews from Yemen to Morocco and from Russia to the Philippines and absorbed the hundreds of thousands of Jews returning home every decade.

 

The Ethiopian, Menashe, Yemeni and other Jews throughout Asia, North Africa and the Middle East are still being brought home all too often just before they would have been executed or made to convert to Islam. There are soon to be waves of additional Jews from Europe as anger and anti-Semitic feelings grow. The same can be seen in the streets of the United States and across the college and university grounds and classrooms in the United States and Canada. Below is the scene just outside the AIPAC Convention in Washington D.C. where many of the attendees were assaulted by a vicious anti-Israel and anti-Semitic crowd. Play the video and listen to many of the calls for killing the young man who the police managed to close upon and escort him into the building. These attacks were all too common during the convention and are simply the next step which follows the anti-Zionist and anti-Israel and BDS Movement. This is in Washington DC, the Capital City of the United States, this week, but we should not be surprised.

 

 

Israel’s population is increasing and will continue to as the Jews in the Western World start coming under ever increasing pressures. Europe is already lost as the European Union and many European leftist governments are buying land under false pretenses and building homes and giving them to Arab Muslims all across Area C which the Oslo Accords forbids such. If an Israel expanded a flowerbox the European Union, much of Scandinavia, Paris and the rest of France, the United Nations, Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau and President Obama would all have catatonic apoplexy all of them making a federal case with Israeli ambassadors called to explain and Prime Minister Netanyahu hearing demands that he condemn such a reprehensible act. Meanwhile the population continued to grow and the area from Haifa to Ashkelon is well crowded area with the Tel Aviv suburbs stacked with apartment buildings, many well over fifteen stories. Kfar Saba and Netanya are simply suburbs of Tel Aviv and these residential and business buildings reach all the way to the Judean Hills and then climb right on up them spreading across the Green Line.

All building to add to these suburbs has been frozen for the three and a half years since President Obama won reelection. You might call it Prime Minister Netanyahu’s reelection present to President Obama who pocketed the surrender and has raised the stakes claiming he will not veto the French Initiative and he has John Kerry pressuring the new French Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault to retract his cancellation of the former French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius and restate the full previous draft which would have made any failure by Israel and the Palestinian Authority (PA) to automatically inforce a Palestinian State with the 1949 Armistice Lines as the border under Chapter Seven of the United Nations Security Council’s Charter which would allow for military force to be applied to enforce and commit a determination by the Security Council. This would allow for Iran, North Korea, France, Britain, Egypt, and any other military with the full backing of the United States and also Russia, China, Pakistan and whoever else decides to join the enforcement coalition. Israel has reached peace agreements with Jordan and Egypt but the world insists that such treaties do not mean that Israel gets to keep the lands she liberated from nineteen years of occupation, oh no, Israel must be forced back to borders which are next to impossible to defend so that the Islamic forces can attempt once again to genocidally eradicate Israel. Apparently the Western World, or at least President Obama and possibly the European Union, decide that they desire a preemptive reason to stomp Israel into the ground and the Security Council can provide just such an order. Perhaps this is the legacy President Obama desires for himself. He probably believes that attempting to destroy Israel will be a plus on his resume to become the next Secretary General of the United Nations. Imagine Secretary General Obama wielding power beyond his wildest dreams able to call up Russian, Chinese, American, and European militaries to enforce his ideals on the rest of the planet. About the only addition one might add would be, “Would you like fries with your order?”

Very few would argue that Israel has friends to spare or even that other nations are publically lining up to declare good and open supportive relations with Israel and if anything, exactly the opposite is the situation. Despite such a guarded prospective being openly displayed, underneath the radar and far from sight there are many nations who willingly cooperate and even work towards similar goals with Israel. Some act simply to protect Israel from those who stand poised to destroy Israel by small steps, by a million cuts or by a single stroke of the sword beheading her as one would a raging monster. There are claims that Israel has designs on ruling the Middle East from the position of a ‘Greater Israel’ which would extend from the Mediterranean Sea to the two rivers, the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers. They quote the liberation of Judea and Samaria as the initial step where after Jordan joined the war to annihilate Israel in June of 1967 believing the Egyptian and Syria broadcasts of their easy and unstoppable successes and their imminent approach on Tel Aviv from both the northeast and from the south, Israel was forced to divert troops heading to reinforce the efforts in the Sinai Peninsula against Egypt to address the newly opened from Jordan in the east. That diversion made steady advances pausing to pray upon the liberated Western Wall and Temple Mount which brought forth an emotional attachment renewed that overwhelmed these Israelis with the gift of being the ones who liberated the most holy of grounds to all Jews. They subsequently liberated the rest of Judea along with Samaria reforming the proper and legal border with Jordan as the Jordan River. The liberation of Judea and Samaria was not an attempted conquest and was a response to an attack and reclaiming the lands stolen by Jordan during the wars to destroy Israel immediately after her founding in 1948 through early 1949. Even this small patch of land which by treaties and promises are lands which legally are an important and vital part of Israel being once again attempted to subvert and steal through the invention of a nation which claims to have been attacked and overrun by Israel though nobody can find the war or military operations which produced such a result. This is a crucial test of whether the United Nations, European Union, and all the world’s nations and their international agencies, alliances and partnerships will respect their promises to the Jewish Zionists to permit and support their return and rebuilding of their ancestral homelands on a tiny strip of land nestled at the eastern edge of the Mediterranean Sea which measures merely a size about equal to the State of New Jersey, smaller than El Salvador, Belize, Djibouti and even Macedonia. The map shown below depicts the proportional insignificance of the land claimed for the Jewish homelands compared to the lands of nations claiming a Muslim heritage of which a significant number claim to be Islamic States observing Islamic Sharia which specifically defines Muslim Code of Law and concerning all practices, rituals, interactions and obligations for all Muslims to surrender in their devotions to Allah and defining the place of their nation, of Islam and their interactions between them and other nations all included and codified in Sharia.

This past week Israel was presented with two reports of which only one can be valid as they are diametric opposites. The one which the media has obsessed over was issued by the United Nations Human Rights Council deliberating over the commission of potential war crimes, crimes against humanity, criminal acts under the Geneva Conventions and any actions the committee found to be of particular interest of which disproportional use of force appeared to be their major area of emphasis with a subcategory viewing what can only be described as seeking reasons for the disparity in injured, murdered, rendered homeless and other material damages and the other was a review of the and the steps taken to prevent inflicting or receiving injury of death of civilians and efforts to minimize collateral damage as well as any efforts to use protected structures, numbers of individual noncombatants in attempts to protect military hardware and positioning military sites of importance within civilian structures and targeting parameters. This military review was conducted independently of the United Nations and included eleven high-ranking military officials who visited Israel back in May as part of this High Level International Military Group on a fact-finding mission for reviewing Operation Protective Edge. As reported in an article in Arutz Sheva their conclusions included:

 

“We examined the circumstances that led to the tragic conflict last summer and are in no doubt that this was not a war that Israel wanted,” the report states. “Israel sought to avoid the conflict and exercised great restraint over a period of months before the war when its citizens were targeted by sporadic rocket attacks from Gaza.”

“Once the war had begun, Israel made repeated efforts to terminate the fighting,” it continued. “The war that Israel was eventually compelled to fight against Hamas and other Gaza extremists was a legitimate war, necessary to defend its citizens and its territory against sustained attack from beyond its borders.”

The report then contrasts Hamas’s use of human shields with Israel’s attempts to save lives.

“Hamas launched attacks against Israel from the heart of its own civilian communities in Gaza and positioned its munitions and military forces there also, including in schools, hospitals and mosques,” it says. “As well as carefully documented IDF evidence of this, we have viewed international media footage confirming several cases and are aware of senior Hamas officials’ own claims to have used human shields.”

“A recent report by the UN Secretary General confirmed that in some cases Hamas even used UN facilities for storing munitions and launching attacks.”

“Each of our own armies is of course committed to protecting civilian life during combat,” it continued. “But none of us is aware of any army that takes such extensive measures as did the IDF last summer to protect the lives of the civilian population in such circumstances.”
“Our overall findings are that during Operation Protective Edge last summer, in the air, on the ground and at sea, Israel not only met a reasonable international standard of observance of the laws of armed conflict, but in many cases significantly exceeded that standard,” the report concludes. “We saw clear evidence of this from the upper to the lower levels of command.”

“A measure of the seriousness with which Israel took its moral duties and its responsibilities under the laws of armed conflict is that in some cases Israel’s scrupulous adherence to the laws of war cost Israeli soldiers’ and civilians’ lives.”

 

The report also affirmed the Israeli investigated finding that the ratio of Civilian-to-Military casualty ratio was 1:1, well above the world average of 3:1 and far higher than the ratio set as acceptable targeting. The fact that Israel was able to attain such a low ratio was all the more remarkable when one considers that it was the Hamas, Islamic Jihad and other terrorist fighters intent carried through with deliberate actions to place rocket launchers, command and control centers, mortar positions, stores of rockets and ammunitions and other war equipment and manned positions in, on or near to civilian centers, private residences, hospitals, schools, health clinics, refugee centers and other protected structures. There was an actual in use UNRWA (United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East) health clinic which had been evacuated as the fighting inched closer and when a squad of IDF soldiers entered the building it was detonated. Further inspection of the structure and the manner in which it exploded revealed a number of items of concern. First was that the clinic was also concealing multiple entrances to tunnels in its floors and the second and most condemning find was the placement of the explosives which by all measure were found to have been built into the structure as it was erected in anticipation that it could be detonated at some future point during an operation such as Operation Protective Edge. That trap killed three IDF soldiers and injured others. I do not know for sure if he remained in Gaza, but either way, the man had great integrity, nerves of steel, a steadfast standing for truth and a great heart full of love of life. One Israeli method to clear a rooftop or building which was being used as a launch site on its roof or from numerous balconies or out of windows of which Israeli drones had detected such fire operations they would first, a few minutes before the actual strike, drop small, very loud, fragment-free, low explosive charges which operate as a large flashbang grenade, called knockers as they were the knock on the ‘proverbial door’ before kicking that ‘door’ in, in order to cause the people to flee the structure before it was struck, something unheard of by these reviewing military officers, something considered completely inconsistent with attempts to maximize even the casualties of the combatants as well an civilians. Such a tactic as well as the radio broadcasts, phone calls, leaflet drops, SMS messages to individual phones and other undisclosed methods for warning the civilian population to leave the area and despite it also gave the combatants to flee still allowing for the destruction of the launchers and depriving them of a preferred and planned firing location. Firing locations which have been preplanned have a tactical advantage in that they are in a set point and the operators have a set of dialable targets where the precise settings for the strike are known while taking up a random or alternate location often either forces the operator to make their best computation (often referred to as best guess) and may also place numerous targets beyond reach, blocked due to locations of larger structures or other obstacles. This is the reason such locations need to be eliminated as otherwise enemy combatants can return and continue to utilize their advantageous locations and the firing data. Also included in this report were the three Israeli teens kidnapped and murdered by Hamas operative in Judea and the ramping up of numbers and increased ranging of rockets which inevitably led to the Israeli response. Also noted was the fact that much of the destruction was restricted to within two miles of the Gaza-Israeli border as this was also the location of the majority of the ground fighting which is far more intense and thus the destructive force increases exponentially to the level of opposition and follows the front lines as each side attempts to clear an area in order to advance in comparative safety.

 

The United Nations report from the Human Rights Council (UNHRC) omitted mention of the three Israeli teens kidnapped and murdered and made only minor mention of increased rocket fire both in numbers and ranges and instead concentrated on a few limited points which can be defined by one simple phrase, disproportional force and results. There was little mention of the protective shield that the Iron Dome anti-missile system intercepted well over ninety percent of the rockets fired into Israel in determining by the systems’ computers and radar tracking information where the rocket, mortar or artillery would strike and even higher percentage shoot down of those projectiles computed to be heading to strike within populated areas. This prevented literally tens of thousands of Israeli casualties a majority of which would likely have been fatalities as the Iron Dome did work to almost one-hundred percent of projectiles heading for central Tel Aviv and its skyscraper towers. The Iron Dome system is the perfect example of the price Israel places on individual lives as each anti-missile-missile costs tens of thousands of Shekels and were used to intercept rockets which at most cost hundreds of dollars to make. The main point made repeatedly by the UNHRC report referred to the casualty numbers and basically posed the identical question which many reporters posed during Operation Defensive Edge, where were the Israeli casualties, the Jewish casualties (one reporter was caught asking the exact question of why were there no Jewish deaths while so many in Gaza were killed). The preoccupation with Israeli casualties has reached ghoulish levels and casts the pale of anti-Semitic origins for such a line of reasoning. The answer was easy to see, Iron Dome and the fact that Israel was not only willing but gladly invested the millions of Shekels and thousands and possibly hundreds of thousands of hours and prototypes, testing, writing software code and rewriting when necessary and simply editing (as if editing code is ever simple) and finaly perfecting a system that provided the protection desired, nearly perfect protections and the rest we depended upon the hand of Hashem. The absolute proof was made evident by a multiple miss by an Iron Dome system tasked with protecting Tel Aviv and was tracking a missile headed directly to downtown central Tel Aviv and three intercepts missed before what was insufficient a breeze resulted in the missile being swept aside and out into the Mediterranean Sea where it exploded harmlessly. Somehow this miraculous incident did not appear in the UNHRC report and also omitted was the purported report that when being asked by a senior Gaza government official (read Hamas commander) how come his rockets were not striking in Israel and killing the Israelis the officer replied, “They keep shooting them down and even when they miss their G0d simply swipes them away harmlessly.”

 

The point driven home by the scant accusations in the document against Hamas are dwarfed to the point of near absence compared to the claims and vile and putrid twisting of the facts in order to convict Israel in the court of anti-Israel and anti-Zionist with potential to classify it as anti-Semitic venomous bile coming from the most base hatreds imaginable. The fact that the initial person selected to be the chair of this investigation was forced to resign because of a proven record of anti-Israeli and anti-Zionist positions and that he was employed by the PLO to render favorable interpretations and provide defense and Jurist William Shabas was replaced with Judge Mary McGowan Davis who was a member of a panel appointed to follow-up on the Goldstone Committee which investigated presumed Israeli infractions in a previous war with Hamas. That report was later revealed for its biases and inaccuracies by the man who sat as the chairman, Judge Richard Goldstone, and who refuted his own report in an article for the Washington Post. One has to believe at some point that the UNHRC has some problems when it comes to all things Israel. One last bit to end on hopefully a slightly brighter note, there was a rumor which I sincerely pray was meant as a joke and not an actual fact that the UNHRC was required by its own bylaws to open every session with a motion denouncing Israel and the discussion would simply be to include the particulars for that denunciation. The only problem such a joke would face is that it might be taken as fact and not one bit of humor be found within.
