How Does Europe Define NGO in Israel and More?

Most people read news about some NGO making some claims or making accusations and their ears perk up and they assign extra special veracity to the words that follow the announcement that such-n-such groups, an NGO, claims that… No matter what nation the NGO calls home, the NGO is considered to be independent of any political bend and especially free of the foreign policy interests of any government because NGO stands for Non-Governmental-Organization. But perhaps this is not as pure as we have been led to believe as there are numerous NGOs which it turns out are paid agents for European nations and are used as the new twenty-first-century pirates who are sent on NGO raids of other nations seeking to find or provoke a situation which can be utilized to slander another nation, and if they can hit NGO pirating gold, perhaps even something presentable to an international court or be brought for one of those oh-so political lynching before the United Nations General Assembly where condemnations are all but automatic on any charges against certain “always guilty nations” or perhaps the United Nations Human Rights Council or, even better for elevating the paying nation’s international prestige, the charges can be filed by their NGO in their highest tribunal which has already applied to and received by the United Nations to hear and adjudicate human rights and war crimes charges and the whole cycle has come home and returned on their investment.

The obvious target of all the available culprits where presumed human rights are abused and there is no real, fair, just and uncorrupted judiciary where minorities are regularly seized out of their homes and executed after the briefest of trials and religious apartheid exists with factions in open warfare and every other conceivable injustice occurs daily deserving the targeting of the vast resources of the European governments both individually and through their combined financial resources funneled through the European Union in the Middle East, Africa or any other political hot spot is not Syria, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq, Libya, Afghanistan, not North Korea and not even al-Qaeda, Hamas, ISIS, Hezballah, Boko Haram, Islamic Jihad or other terrorist entity; it is, let’s all say this together, Israel. The hot issue this week whose organizers deserved receiving roughly half a million euros from French government aid was Plateforme des ONG Françaises pour la Palestine (Platform of French NGOs for Palestine) efforts to break the internationally sanctioned and legal naval blockade of Gaza under the ever so original name of ‘Freedom Flotilla III’ which is expected to arrive any time this week. Never mind that Gaza receives every ounce of legal aid and even is permitted dual use building material of which it has been estimated that possibly a significant amount well exceeding half of the cements and other materials are confiscated by Hamas for their use in building infiltration tunnels with which to attack and murder Israelis and kidnap others to hold for ransom crossing a legally recognized border committing breaches and activities aimed at civilians all of which are acts of war. If the real reason of the ‘Freedom Flotilla III’ was to get desperately needed supplies to the people in Gaza, who admittedly could use building materials which would actually go to rebuilding their homes, stores and other damaged infrastructure resulting from repeated acts of war on the part of their existing governance of Hamas, Islamic Jihad and other terrorist entities firing rockets, missiles and mortars upon Israeli civilians even to include striking Israel’s two largest metropolitan areas of Jerusalem and Tel Aviv requiring a military response to prevent further breaches of the peace, all that is required is for the aid to be delivered to any Israeli sea port where it would be inspected and all nonmilitary aid would be delivered within the following two to three days overland on any of the several tons of food, medical supplies, building materials and other approved aid withholding only those items deemed to be of a military nature and legally removed from any shipment.

It is almost needless to point out that these flotillas are not about getting supplies to the people of Gaza as was proven by the infamous Mavi Marmara flotilla where the lead ship attempted to run the blockade in order to ambush any IDF units used to intercept them and then be able to take film and still pictures with which to smear Israeli efforts requiring excessive violence on ‘innocent aid workers and human rights activists’ and then file them to be plastered on page one of every newspaper and film at the beginning of every news broadcast across the Western World thus presenting what the desire to claim are the brutalities committed by the Israeli military in the name of the government. These attempts by terrorists to instigate a fight and have the IDF inflict what would be presented as unnecessary violence went awry when the Israelis also arrived with cameras and shot the entire interdiction to show the world the edited out assaults initiating the actions which landed a number of both IDF and instigators in the hospital and resulted in nine terrorists who had assaulted the IDF soldiers using knives, pipes, bats and eventually small arms fire which immediately escalated the incident into an international incident where eventually the evidence from all sides was aired and the world was left to judge for themselves. Every single internationally sanctioned and recognized neutral investigations found fault on both sides but laid the blame for initiating the violence fell on the terrorist elements eventually identified as belong to IHH who boarded the ship at an unofficial stop subsequent to the filmed set-off in Turkey.

This newest effort is sailing the Mediterranean Sea and is anticipated to reach Israel once these participants have soaked up sufficient sun, fun and news cycles to fully show off the representatives of Human Rights NGOs, dignitaries, recognized public figures and the seemingly required member of the Israeli Knesset for that extra pinch of presumed righteousness, then they will head for Gaza to present their ‘aid for the starving masses and for rebuilding the destruction from last year’s conflict with Israel. Most of the ships making up the ‘Freedom Flotilla III’ will obey the instructions by the Israeli patrol boats and divert to drop off aid goods at Ashod, Haifa, Tel Aviv or whichever port has been prepared to receive and process the goods as rapidly as humanly possible. If form holds true, the aid packages will include food that has not been properly refrigerated or kept dry making it almost entirely unusable and medical supplies past their usable date but Israel will transfer it into Gaza where Hamas and the governing entities will simply leave it until it has to be disposed of before these useless supplies become a health hazard. That is exactly what became of the aid from the previous ‘Freedom Flotillas’ and their showcase deliveries. To be honest, most Israelis do not wish for a fight and would be more than happy if the aid actually was received by the Gazan people and any useful provisions are a benefit to them and Israel has even liberalized their permissible aid to include the very cement, rebar, wood, sheets of aluminum and other building supplies with which Hamas, Islamic Jihad et al are rebuilding the destroyed infiltration tunnels making improvements and enlarging them as well as digging new, deeper and longer ones which will have added rails for electric rail carts to get the raiding parties to the far end ready and still rested for their assaults in southern Israel and potentially beyond, just as the captured plans described when the tunnels were found and destroyed during Operation Protective Edge last summer.

The assault the Israelis spoiled when they found the tunnels during the ground operations included and had in place awaiting implementation of the plans during the Jewish High Holidays of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur were motorcycles, manufactured IDF uniforms complete with patches and all identifying insignia, maps, weapons, ammunition, handcuffs, rope, drugs, syringes and supplies to outfit hundreds if not over a thousand infiltrators who could have committed mass murders and mass kidnappings mostly, as the plans indicated, from the neighboring towns and kibbutzim and even raid into Tel Aviv and Jerusalem which were to be carried out in much the same manner as the Mumbai, India assault where ten Pakistani terrorists landed near the Gateway to India Monument equipped with plastic explosives, grenades, hand guns, machine guns and other tools carrying out the worst and most lethal terrorist action in Indian history. The viciousness of the assault was exemplified by the horrific attack in the Chabad ‘Nariman House’ and the raid on the two of the main train stations and the international hotels as the terrorists continued murdering everybody they could on route to their eventual targets. The November 26, 2008 attack lasted four horrific and trying days before all the terrorists were killed with one, Ajmal Kasab, being captured and questioned by the Indian authorities seeking information on why one-hundred-seventy-nine people were killed and more than three-hundred were wounded . The estimated numbers who could have been murdered in a similar assault on Israel during the High Holidays with assaults planned to begin across the entirety of Israel coordinated for simultaneous explosions followed by the other operations including plans to assault numerous local synagogues and the main and largest synagogues in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and elsewhere included numbers so shocking as to be beyond belief and the confusion which could be entered into the equations with terrorists dressed as IDF soldiers giving spurious orders to a frightened public funneling them to set up terrorist locations where the people were likely to be murdered or taken hostage to be used in later negotiations which were unlikely to end with any acceptable results.

The ‘Freedom Flotilla III’ will most likely be using a similar modus operandi of the previous ‘Freedom Flotillas’ where a single selected ship staffed with instigators and terrorists who will be attempting to force a confrontation which can be filmed to be edited later to show the violence perpetrated on innocent individuals by presumed sadistic IDF Jews against simply human rights advocates which included women and other identifiable representatives of peace organizations who have volunteered to stand on the periphery in the hopes of being mistaken for one of those attacking the IDF and receive rough treatment. What these Flotilla planners are counting on is that the Israelis will attempt to use the minimalist amount of force required to divert the ship or ships attempting to break through the naval blockade which, may we remind all, has been investigated by the United Nations and the International Criminal Court (ICC) and passed muster as being a legal and properly applied blockade meeting or exceeding all the requirements of such an operation. These reviews noted that all legal aid is delivered in a timely manner and in as pristine a condition as it arrived after an efficient and speedy inspection for contraband such as arms as certain dual use materials such as those used for the production of explosives, weapons, ammunition, other munitions, rockets and the fuel to launch them and other recognized illegal substances. The rules under international law on enforcement of a recognized blockade is to attempt to intercede with the least necessary force to persuade the ship’s captain to divert and dock at an assigned port for inspection and offloading of aid which will be delivered afterwards and the use of force may escalate as the orders are ignored and efforts continue to cross the blockade line. There is no actual requirement for the enforcing forces, be they ships, aircraft or other units to actually attempt to board the offending ship to take control and sail it to an approved port. Should a ship persist in attempts to cross a blockaded port and pose a threat of breaking the enforcement it becomes legal to simply shoot the ship out of the water by any and all means as the enforcing fleet and military power at the scene, if that is perceived as the least dangerous alternative for their personnel. The enforcement rules under international law allow for the sinking of the offending vessel and do not require less destructive measures. A good example of the amount of force permissible by a legally blockading nation would be a study of the Cuban Missile Crisis where United States President Kennedy had given orders for any Russian vessel crossing the blockading ships were to be fired upon and sunk. The United States blockading forces included numerous destroyers, cruisers, aircraft and the vessels which came the closest to actually firing on the Russian lead ship had she not turned away with little room left before action was taken, a nice way as saying actions were imminent, were two attack submarines which already had entered their firing sequence into the ships attack computers and I believe one had even loaded and flooded their tubes in preparation to fire. It may have been the sonar reporting of such act which convinced the Russian captain to divert his ship and not continue his confrontation. That was amongst the closest the Cold War adversaries faced off which could have had dire and vastly different consequences. The ‘Freedom Flotilla III’ personnel, planners and ship captains have probably studied the previous attempts to break the blockade and are counting on Israel to interdict by placing her troops in harm’s way if that is what becomes necessary to prevent the blockade from being transgressed. There is also the option to demand a cursory check of the goods and if found not to contain anything banned to allow the ship to proceed to a port in Gaza. The difficulty there is the requirement for boarding once again, always a dangerous process where the boarding party are the force most vulnerable which was made exceedingly evident during the Mavi Marmara confrontation.

The backing of the ‘Freedom Flotilla III’ by the French government using one of their nationally supported and funded NGOs is indicative of a problem which Israel had some serious problems and is where any discussion about this situation of European governments, amongst others, directly or indirectly through NGOs whose main purpose is a form of money laundering where they receive funding directly from governments who may even have requested the funding be funneled directly to another NGO where the initial recipient of the funds uses a percentage or set handling fee to pay for their services and then they pass the funds along wither through another middle NGO or directly to the intended NGO all pending the amount of separation desired by the donating government where they pay for each level of separation. Where this system is sufficiently deceitful and underhanded manner for a government to mount subversive efforts to undermine the independence or functioning of another government they wish to target through using NGOs which are officially registered with the originating government, in Israel there is a second and far more sinister route being used, the support and funding, largely through the NGO the New Israel Fund (NIF) which in turn doles the funds for different activities and functioning of other NGOs operating within Israel. The devious part is that these majority or even completely foreign funded NGOs, some by outside individuals and others by the European Union or European governments as well as Arab and Muslim governments are registered as Israeli NGOs despite their almost entirely foreign funding sources. The Israel Parliament, the Knesset, has passed a series of bills to attempt to address this situation. These legislations have included such requirements that any NGO receiving a majority of their funding from outside Israel be required to register as a foreign NGO which would eliminate some of the tax exemptions, the requirement for all NGOs to report all foreign funding including funds from other NGOs which receive the majority of their funding from outside Israel, an attempt to make foreign funds granted to NGOs to taxation and a number of other requirements many of which the very nations funding these ‘Israeli’ NGOs themselves have enacted which would even go so far as to exile any NGO from their registry forcing them to register under the nation or one of the nations paying their funding requirements which, needless to point to, prevents Israel from returning the favor in kind by subverting NGOs operating in Europe under European registry. Every one of these legislations have been denounced by people on the left of the political scale as the NGOs most likely to be affected are the most liberal and often anti-Israel NGOs that operate as Israeli NGOs. These protestations have caused each of these laws to be nullified by the Israeli Supreme Court often claiming that they are discriminatory despite their being applicable to all NGOs operating in Israel and specifically to those registering as being Israeli NGOs operating licensed by the Israeli governing body which oversees NGOs, an overseeing body which has been hampered from taking any actions against these anti-Israel, anti-Zionist NGOs who perform the bidding of their paymasters from outside Israel still enjoying the apparent approval of the Israeli government. The actions of the Israel Supreme Court are not surprising as they have performed the actions of a blocking stone placed around the neck of every piece of legislation passed by the Knesset which the Supreme Court has set themselves up as an override proof veto machine and nowhere have they been more active than against nationalist and Zionist interests such as the problem with the foreign funded anti-Israel NGOs and also another major problem, the repatriation of illegal immigrants to their home nation even to include those that the United Nations and European Union have registered as facing no oppressions or even arrest and trial should they be returned to their nation of origin. The infiltrator problem, what the illegal immigrants have been named, has caused widespread lawlessness for many neighborhoods in southern Tel Aviv and other less well-off neighborhoods. When efforts have been made to expand the territory being invaded and potentially inflicted with this problem the wealthier neighborhoods have no difficulty in receiving law enforcement fast and expediently.

There was one effort which many found amusing as a member of the Knesset brought a number of these illegal immigrant families to enjoy some recreation at one of the public swimming pools in a wealthier Tel Aviv neighborhood. The people monitoring who were allowed to enter this ‘public swimming pool and recreation area’ made every effort to prevent the entry of these ‘other outsiders’ but were eventually forced to permit their entry. Within minutes of their entering this public area the most affluent found the atmosphere so threatened that they made a hasty retreat before being put in a position of sharing their environs with those such as these people who had been unfairly thrust into their formerly perceived protected public area. Such grandstanding only succeeded in making some ripples in the news over the ensuing week and then everything returned to normal and the criminal elements were still ignored and the residents of the afflicted neighborhoods almost require escort just to do their grocery shopping and going out after sunset is unthinkable, such is the reality the Supreme Court is forcing on these unfortunate people who have sufficient problems just making ends meet and who deserve better security in their neighborhoods but even law enforcement has been timid in imposing the law in such neighborhoods as they cannot be on every street corner, or so we have been informed.

Reform is going to be required on many fronts but Israel is a young nation still ironing out some of her deficiencies and rough spots. Israel is still on their first republic unlike some in Europe who have worked their way through five republics within their last two to three centuries or had coups which led to consequences for the entirety of Europe and beyond. For a relative newcomer to the world’s stage and facing probably one of the roughest of neighborhoods to make their debut and against all odds she remains standing and not about to throw in the towel no matter how many NGOs of foreign funding antagonize her soldiers and protest her duly elected government attempting to use bullying tactics as described in such playbooks as Rules for Radicals, the Communist Manifesto, Che Guevara’s A Revolutionary Life and many others. Books not read or not considered enlightened enough include the worldviews from Hobbes, John Locke, Adam Smith, David Hume, Voltaire, Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Denis Diderot, Immanuel Kant, George Berkeley, John Stuart Mill, Jeremy Bentham, Montesquieu with his separation of powers concept, and even Gulliver’s Travels author Jonathan Swift. The ‘Age of Reason’ which was also known as the Enlightenment brought a whole new manner of government where the common man was respected and was a capable individual who had learned much from the greatest of all teachers, the hardships and challenges of everyday survival from which we get this well-known phrase thanks to Friedrich Nietzsche (and an aside to Conan for making it known by the masses), “That which does not kill us makes us stronger.” Let us hope that the ‘Freedom Flotilla III’ and all the incidents she may cause in the coming days only make us, all of us, stronger.

That is the one thing which I believe makes much of the world angered by Israel and turned to scorn and ridicule her is that as the Jewish State, Israel attempts to be better in their treatment and assistance to others, to honestly make a difference where it counts in the world and make it a better place by the actions of each and every individual Israeli. If Israel is capable of lifting up souls one at a time, then that is what she will endeavor to accomplish. Israel has a soul and a heart and these fill her with hope over fate, light over darkness, helping over pitying. This is evident in Israeli assistance to those suffering from a natural disaster such as was in Haiti, the Philippines, Japan and recently Nepal. Many Nepalese were perplexed by the Israeli response both to their needs and to locating every single Israeli known to be in Nepal. They noted we sent search and rescue along with medical teams to places even the Nepalese government does not visit. Israel continued the search even when there was but one Israeli not yet accounted for and then refused to leave after hearing of his death but instead mounted an expedition to locate, retrieve and bring his body home to be interred where his loved ones could know he rested, his mortality rested. It did not escape the Nepalese people that there were nations with hundreds and even thousands of people in Nepal who sent nobody to assist their own people, let alone the people of Nepal yet Israel tracked down and located every Israeli including the retrieval of the one fatality’s body and aided the people of Nepal remaining even after every Israeli had been accounted for; remaining plus sending a second team to relieve the initial assistance sent in order to provide until the emergency had ended and Nepal was as healthy and back on her feet as possible after such a disaster. Israel had the first operating fully equipped and staffed hospital in Haiti, built and equipped a clinic in a remote village where no such care was available and trained the villagers how to use the most useful equipment and eventually left the clinic and equipment in place and had even interested some medical personnel including some physicians to set up practices in the clinic. Israel had the most wonderful and beautiful of programs I have ever encountered anywhere with their Save a Child’s Heart (SACH) which is a non-profit organization based in Israel but reaching out to the world wherever there is a need leading to their being known worldwide for their commitment to saving lives by improving the quality of cardiac care for children from developing countries and creating centers of medical competence in these countries. They not only help finance and build departments in hospitals and entire hospitals where none exist and train the physicians in cardiac care for children leaving behind a self-sufficient group who is fully capable of providing the care to the people locally. Until such care is available locally they fly children from all nations, and they mean all nations even if to have that child cared for in Israel but the government does not recognize or particularly like Israel, they fly the family to a neutral nation and then to Israel without stamping their passport, provide the cardiac care and recovery and return them through the same neutral nation all because life is precious. You want a one phrase for Israel, try every single life matters. That is the basis for so much Israel does even in ways that are difficult to explain, but rest assured that all life is precious is still included in what Israel does and it shows quietly in her actions.

The media relays the results of polls taken every day and often more than once a day if there are two polls available. If no new poll is released they discuss the trending of the polls over the last few days or the polls this week compared to last week or anything in order to stress the same point endlessly, the race is between Labor and Likud and everyone else are insignificant. They claim that the choice is between returning current Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu and taking the chance with Yitzhak Herzog-Tzipi Livni splitting the position between them. Netanyahu has the disadvantage in that the majorities of the Israeli media caters to the Tel Aviv liberals and mostly are antagonistic against the Prime Minister and would really love for their hopes to be realized and have Herzog and Livni sharing the time as Prime Minister. There was a report last week which actually went so far as to test if all of the Arab parties were to run a joint campaign along with Meretz and the Communist Parties they would have sufficient numbers to challenge for the spot of having to share the office of Prime Minister on some kind of rotating schedule that only a fiction novelist or a theoretical mathematician could make up a formula. This fantasy was probably run so they would not have to note that the one poll available showed not only Netanyahu wining but with Labor not taking second place, though I have yet to see such a poll.

The fact that no poll has shown much difference at the top with Labor and Likud both hovering between twenty-two and twenty-five mandates and taking turns leading over the other makes the entirety of the polling both irrelevant and questionable as to what exactly is their sampling distribution. There are likely a number of sampling biases which make these polls potentially far off from what the actual distribution of the actual electorate, but that will not bother these reporters of fact and fancy. The problem is that by their daily repeating the same basic numbers and whittling the race down to between two parties the newsmakers and pollsters are reinforcing the idea that nobody outside the two parties which have traded the office of Prime Minister between themselves with barely an iota of difference to show for it they are robbing the Israeli public of seeking someone outside of these two overly tried and not so true choices. Additionally, one must wonder from where they get their samples for these polls. From the numbers I have seen it appears they are sampling heavily in Tel Aviv and its surrounding suburbs and other cities, western Jerusalem, Haifa, a few areas in the Galilee, of which much would include some of the Arab cities, Eilat and Beersheba and that is about it. There is probably little if any polling taken from East Jerusalem and the Israeli populations living beyond the Green Line or the population bordering Gaza in the south. This leaves out a fairly large segment of the population which is less likely than the rest of Israel to vote outside of the traditional leading parties. By ignoring such in their polling, as we suspect, they leave these people with a false impression that if they do not vote to support either Labor or Likud then they are only voting for minor members on what may be the coalition and not deciding on who will win and lead the coalition. Why might this be important?

That is the easy part of this exercise. The one thing which has been proven is that there are a large segment within Israel who is tired of the same political gamesmanship and the trading the lead position between two parties which offer no real difference. Both Labor and Likud have agreed to surrender lands to form an Arab state out of lands which by international law and every treaty since 1920 has denoted as reserved for the Jewish state, end of statement. The only agreement which suggested otherwise was a nonbinding resolution from the United Nations General Assembly which was immediately rejected by the Arab League making it null a void. The entirety of the Arab claims to an Arab state beside Israel on Israeli land derives from that rejected resolution which was negated by the very Arabs who wish to now use it for their advantage as they found that Israel was a little more difficult to erase from the map than they had figured. They rejected that resolution in order to erase Israel from the map at the birth of the nation and invaded with troops representing more than a half dozen nations and with an advantage of hundreds against each Israeli soldier and Israel survived. They tried again in 1967 and failed again losing even more land which Israel returned the majority when making peace with Egypt thus meeting the requirement to return lands and retaining those lands Israel felt she was necessary for her to have defendable borders. When after the Israeli war to retain her founding in 1948-9 Egypt gained control of Gaza and Jordan gained control of Judea and Samaria which Jordan renamed the West Bank when they annexed those lands. Other than Britain and Pakistan every nation and the United Nations referred to the Jordanian control of these lands as an occupation rejecting the annexation. Here is the sixty-four-thousand dollar question; to who did the lands of Judea and Samaria belong that Jordan was thus occupying? If you guessed Israel as the proper owner of those lands occupied by Jordan go to the head of the class. The same was true of Gaza which Egypt occupied. This was amongst the reasons that Egypt and Jordan did not retain these lands when making their peace with Israel; they knew full well that those lands belonged rightfully to Israel.

The next question would be when was the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO), the forerunner of the Palestinian Authority, first organized and come into existence and what was the stated aim of the PLO? The answer is that Yasser Arafat with his second in command Mahmoud Abbas declared the existence of the PLO in 1964 with the stated aim to eradicate Israel and return the occupied lands to their rightful owners, the Jordanians. You see in 1964 the only lands Israel occupied were its boundaries as set in the Armistice of 1949 which is also known as the Green Line and often referred to as the 1967 lines or boundaries. The lands of Judea and Samaria (West Bank) were still under Jordanian occupation and Gaza was still occupied by Egypt in 1964 thus if the Palestinians Arabs having their own state in those areas as is so demanded today, it could have been established between Jordan and Egypt without even bothering to ask or demand anything from Israel. The Palestinian Arab desire is not for their own state but to erase the Jewish state, to destroy Israel and return all of the lands to Islamic rule. Thus the chanted phrase heard so often around the world at demonstrations and such of, “From the river to the sea Palestine will be free,” That is the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea which pretty much defines the eradication of Israel the last time I checked a map and not two nations living side by side in peace and security. Maybe with this in mind we should return to the Israeli upcoming elections.

The three frontrunners for the Prime Minister’s leadership of Israel are defined as between Benyamin Netanyahu and the tag team pair of Yitzhak Herzog and Tzipi Livni. Let’s take them in reverse order. Tzipi Livni is a well-known entity. She was a solid Likud member and right-wing Zionist through and through before delusions of grandeur struck her with a touch of insanity. When Ariel Sharon was not able to get the rank and file of Likud to support his unilateral disengagement from Gaza which meant removing close to ten-thousand Israelis from their homes, businesses and communities as well as removal of all IDF troops and security gathering from Gaza he formed a new party named Kadima which Tzipi Livni joined with promises of future high positions dancing in her head. The turning all of Gaza over to the Arab Authority under Mahmoud Abbas, that is Abbas the Holocaust denier who also was fundamental in supervising the funding and approving the plans for which he provided funding of the Munich Olympics murdering of the Jewish teams and their coaches in the Olympic village as well as the funding and particulars in the assassination of an American Ambassador in the Sudan in 1973, would prove to be fateful beyond anything imagined at the time. That means it led directly to the takeover of Gaza by Hamas and the thousands upon thousands of rockets rained down on innocent Israeli civilians ever since which have resulted in three wars in response. Ariel Sharon was struck down by a stroke and subsequently passed on after spending the remaining years of his life without ever regaining consciousness. This placed Tzipi Livni as the favored person to take the next elections for Prime Minister and after the votes were counted it appeared that was to be so as Kadima won twenty-eight mandates and Likud won a mere twenty-seven. Tzipi Livni was on the cusp of winning the Prime Minister’s chair and all that remain was the Israeli President choosing her to form the coalition. The selection fell to Israeli President Peres who had left the Labor Party to also join Kadima before being elected to be President so of course he would choose Tzipi Livni to form the next coalition as Kadima had the most mandates and had won the election. Inexplicably it was not to be so as President Peres decided to give the nod to the second place Likud party placing Netanyahu as Prime Minister. Ever since that day Tzipi Livni has been possessed with becoming the Israeli Prime Minister to make up for having it stolen from her by Netanyahu who she holds responsible for cheating her out of what should have rightfully been her chance to grab the golden ring and lead as she was born to lead. This acting as if fated and her delusions which had her making offers to Abbas which were not approved by the Prime Minister when she was trusted to negotiate with the Arab Authority to try and reach an agreement was simply further evidence that Livni was losing her grip on reality. She now believes that this election was called to prevent her from completing the negotiations and once again she was cheated by Netanyahu, this time from a Nobel Peace Prize. I obviously fear her ever sitting as Prime Minister.

Labor Party Leader Yitzhak Herzog has made his feelings quite clear in that he believes that Prime Minister Netanyahu is solely responsible for the soured relations between the White House and the Israeli government. He discounts the good relations which Netanyahu has forged with the Congress and the people of the United States and has set as his campaign theme his promise to repair the damage and reconcile with United States President Obama. He has made it clear that flexibility is what is required and that regress is what must precede progress with the White House. Considering the animosity President Obama has shown for Israel and her safety and interests, making nice and bending to his will can only result in a disaster for Israel. The one saving grace is that even if Herzog were to bend and agree to everything President Obama demands and thus present to Abbas the 1967 lines and east Jerusalem and the withdrawal of every Jew back inside the Green Line, which would be a disaster waiting to happen for Israel, the dangers such a deal would place Israel in would be irrelevant as even such a deal would be refused by Abbas as he would demand the right of return for five-million plus Arab refugees. Even should President Obama also make that one of his demands and Herzog agree, I would continue to expect Abbas to live up to the expectations of Abba Eban who once said, “The Arabs never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity.” The problem is that once any Israeli Prime Minister agrees to any negotiations point, even if it is refused by the Arabs, the next negotiations will be demanded to begin from that point with everything once previously agreed with included as the starting point and then a list of a number of further demands to be debated. Eventually those debate points become preconditions which Israel is obliged to meet, as if they were as claimed, Israeli obligations. The fact that Herzog is promising to make amends to President Obama and claims that the problem with Prime Minister Netanyahu is that he has been unwilling to make a sufficiently generous and proper offer which would be acceptable to Mahmoud Abbas and that he would be willing to go that extra mile to make peace as getting a peace agreement with Abbas’s signature is necessary because such an agreement will end the terrorist attacks and flowers will bloom and kittens will rain down on little parachutes from the skies. (There are some who believe this situation must have occurred in Nahariya thus providing the town with wall to wall cats everywhere.) Still, a Prime Minister Herzog would weaken any future Israeli attempt to negotiate if that is what is truly desired by the Israeli people, which could be what this election could and should be about, maybe the next one if not this.

This leaves Netanyahu who has been Prime Minister since 2009 without making any progress but at least only losing ground in the field of world opinion, something which would be unavoidable no matter who was Prime Minister. The problem with Benyamin Netanyahu is that he lost some pivotal points to President Obama and completely missed some opportunities to regain the upper hand. When President Obama forced him to make an apology on the spot on Air Force One, Prime Minister Netanyahu might have been better served to have refused to take the phone or to have offered a half apology such as he regrets that Prime Minister Erdogan (he was the Turkish Prime Minister at that time) has chosen to make such a monumental problem which has caused this rift between former friends and allies and that we regret that it proved necessary to resort to force in response to the ambush onboard the Mavi Marmara and Israel hopes that relations are able to be repaired and as Prime Minister of Israel Netanyahu is willing to meet and discuss any difficulties. There was another pivotal point when Prime Minister Netanyahu was visiting the White House and President Obama reaching the height of hubris, turned to leave the meeting in the middle of discussions and instructed Prime Minister Netanyahu and his advisors to talk amongst themselves and let one of the staffers know when they were ready to meet President Obama’s demands but right then he was going to head to the family quarters in the White House to have dinner with his family and he would return should the Israelis reach some acceptable position. That should have been greeted with an agreement that perhaps both sides were too hungry for cordial discussion and perhaps a fresh start the next day is in order and that they will await the President’s call should he care to continue the discussion, meanwhile Netanyahu and advisors are also going to have dinner at Maison Blanc (one of if not the highest rated restaurant in the nation’s capital). Prime Minister Netanyahu started out in his relations with President Obama with two strikes against him and double vision blurring his being able to judge the coming pitches which were guaranteed to be sharp curve balls. President Obama had set his position on Israel on his initial Inauguration Day when he made his very first call from the Oval Office in the White House that afternoon calling not a head of state or even an ally but he made that first phone call to talk and joke with his friend Mahmoud Abbas. To make matters worse, once Abbas wore thin and was no longer best friend forever, President Obama has let slip who is his best friend currently and that person is Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Still, the greatest mistake Netanyahu made was to agree that the two state solution was the only acceptable resolution to the Arab demands for their own state within Israeli lands. Once he made that promise he lost all bargaining power with the American President as all he cared was to hear that agreement to extrapolate to a total Israeli surrender sometime in the future and still within the time frame of his time in office. This is still President Obama’s dream, to force an Arab state next to or even instead of Israel whichever proves necessary and doable.

That brings us to what can Israelis do to avoid the traps which have been set all along the path to reconciliation with the Arabs and Mahmoud Abbas as their leader. The choice needs to take the past and the leading events which have brought Israel to this juncture. One of the largest teachable moments was given when Israel pulled the unilateral disengagement of Gaza and the subsequent takeover by Hamas and the ensuing wars between Hamas and Israel. When Israel pulled completely out of Gaza they were supposed to be granted some warming and greater acceptance that Israel was making an effort to meet and win the hearts and minds of the Arabs. The result was not love or even mild support but instead when Hamas took over and began raining rockets and mortars down on Israeli civilians all along the Gaza border and beyond the world sat silent as if nothing was out of balance or demanding denunciations. Finally, when the numbers of rockets became too large and too frequent Israel reacted militarily and one would think that Israel going into Gaza to protect her civilians would have met with support from at least the Europeans or the American President, but nothing of the sort was coming. Instead of understanding or standing with Israel as she defended against the rain of rockets into civilian areas there not only was no support or understanding from the Europeans or the American President but instead there came condemnations from Europe and a call for both sides to show restraint from the United States. The same was the situation the next two times Israel was forced to defend herself with this last summer the United States President taking the additional step of refusing to allow resupply of necessary weaponry including the essential guided munitions which permit for precise targeting thus reducing collateral damage. So we have established the world will hate Israel even when Israel surrenders land in the hopes of peace only to get naked aggressions in exchange for granting land to the Arabs. So much for ever receiving the approval from Europe and not from the current President in the United States, so what next? If the desire is for more of the same then Netanyahu is your man as this is exactly his plan whether he admits so or not and if you want this on steroids potentially surrendering the entirety of Judea and Samaria along with East Jerusalem, then the Livni-Herzog shared Prime Minister are your choice. Choosing thusly will not only place Israel’s future in doubt but will have surrendered many Jewish holy sites which will probably be destroyed just as they were destroyed by the Jordanians. What Israel requires is a new face with a new plan to replace the same old tune where it is Labor then Likud then Labor then Likud back and forth making few if any changes but both making small concessions, the same territorial concessions which have changed the vernacular from Israel retaining almost all of Judea and Samaria along with East Jerusalem to Israel returning to what Abba Eban referred to as the “Auschwitz Borders.”

Israel is at a point where she needs, nay, requires a change from the same-old same-old and a drastic turn from the past exercises of giving concessions for the privilege of being spat upon and saying thank you and here is another concessions and some lands you can demand from us for perpetuity into the future. Israel needs a leader who can explain to the people in plain language a future with hope and promise instead of hardships and potentially a deadly decay through pressured negotiations and all which comprises as their conclusion. Likud had an opportunity to offer such change but their list proved that they were not about to select new leader and offer up Danny Danon but overwhelmingly they chose not to change horses in midstream. That leaves looking to the other parties for a choice. The candidate most likely to be in a position to be capable of receiving sufficient votes to receive the nod from President Reuven Rivlin to form a ruling coalition making their party chairman and the holder of the first slot on their ballot becomes Prime Minister. The closest party which is within ten points of the current polling leaders is the Jewish Home Party which is running along with Tacoma Party and together they are approaching twenty votes and real contention. The leader who would become Prime Minister would be Naftali Bennett. His campaign slogan is for Israel to stop apologizing. He makes his point in this video below.

Naftali Bennett has realized and stresses those Israeli efforts to play nice and bend and twist to meet every expectation in order to please European governments, the European Union, United Nations, United States, Arab nations, and to prove the BDS and other detractors that Israel is really not such a bad place and that the people are humane and caring. Despite these efforts, the world continues to hate Israel and make more and more demands seemingly with the end result being little or no Israel left. Bennett is suggesting that as long as we are going to be treated in this manner, Israel may as well give the Europeans primarily something they can really sink their teeth into and complain about and return some of what was initially intended to make up Israel. His point makes some sense that as long as everybody will demand concessions from Israel, even as just an enticement to bring Abbas and the Arabs to the negotiating table, is ridiculous and; if anybody will be required to offer something of material worth for Israel, it is the Arabs who should be required to concede something of value before Israel would be required to return to the negotiations table. Every week Abbas decides that he is better off demanding greater offerings before he comes to the table, Israel should annex another few acres of lands. There needs to be a price that the Arabs pay for their intransigence and the best price is land. Bennett’s line for Israelis to stop kowtowing before every nation hopefully will be taken to heart across the width and breadth of the land. Perhaps offering less land and reclaiming much every time Abbas and the Arab spokespeople decide not to negotiate Israel should annex another piece of land or a city. The areas Israel target initially should be the areas where there exist large numbers of Jews already residing followed by the cities of importance from out of the Bible. That means annexing all of Jerusalem then Hevron followed by Shechem (currently known as Nablus), Jericho and so on. The world will go into potentially new areas of indignance with a slight possibility of a few going into catatonic shock completely incapable of speech. Much of the world may initially refuse to recognize the areas annexed by Israel as legitimate but over time they would adjust. Any areas annexed which has a large number of Arabs not citizens of Israel, these people should be offered a choice of continuing to reside in Israel as legal resident foreigners or to relocate at which point they would be given remittance for their property plus a generous relocations allotment and airfare or other transportation costs taking them to whatever country they wish to reside. Areas which Israel would not wish to extend her direct rule would be granted semi-autonomy where they would elect their own leaders and be left to run their own lives but would be under Israeli security and the lands would be considered part of Israel. Perhaps in some future period complete independence may be considered but such would not be guaranteed. Whether or not Abbas and the other kleptocrats would be permitted to remain would be determined at such time as would necessitate such a decision. Needless to say that such actions would negate the Oslo Accords relegating them to the dustbin of history as they already have been shattered by the recent unilateral declarations and moves committed by the Arab Authority which negated their solemn commitments under the Oslo Accords.

Much of the world media, especially those which lean leftist or follow a strict political correct editing, as well as those whose editorial pages exude these qualities will be publishing flowing articles and editorials exalting the Palestinian unity government, the greatness of the Palestinian Authority, the wonderful event which saw the interim Palestinian Cabinet meeting in Gaza and Mahmoud Abbas as the last best hope for peace for Israel if only Netanyahu and the rest of the Israeli government would just take the risk. The running theme is to praise the Palestinians and the promise of peace which rests with them while regretting the unbelievable amount of destruction and the desperate state of the people in Gaza. There will be the testimonies of homes destroyed and families left homeless while stressing that any monies which are contributed to the worthy cause of rebuilding Gaza will be supervised by Mahmoud Abbas and the Palestinian Authority as the unity government has authority in Gaza just as it does in the West Bank (historically known as Judea and Samaria). There will be quotes of the care and supervisions executed by the Palestinian Authority and by UNRWA (United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East) who will emphasize the procedures which will be in place to assure that all funds and building materials will go towards rebuilding housing, medical facilities, schools and other public buildings and institutions which were damaged during the fifty days of Israeli strikes, some may even go as far as claiming the damage was caused by Israeli aggressions turning the reason for the fifty day war off of the rocket barrages and the abduction and murder of the Israeli teens by Gaza onto Israeli defensive actions. There will be explanations of safeguards which will prevent the reallocation of materials and funds by Hamas as had been rampant in the past since Hamas took control of Gaza in 2007 in a violent coup, a coup which will be ignored and get nary a mention as such events must not be permitted to interfere with this weekend and the week that follows. You may be asking why the sudden overly zealous love affair with Gaza and the newly formed Palestinian unity government which Hamas only completely surrendered control of Gaza to at the close of the fifty day conflict with Israel while giving the unity government verbal acquiescence while resisting their efforts in Cairo to end the conflict and reestablish peace. There will be a donors’ conference for Gaza to be held on Sunday, October 12, in Cairo which will feature the Palestinian Authority and the Unity Government with great fanfare and testimonials as an international event scheduled for the purpose of raising billions in funding for rebuilding Gaza.

Probably the first items which might be of importance are what are the amounts of funds for rebuilding Gaza, reestablishing the UNRWA facilities back to a functioning level and finally what it would take to pay the current arrears for both Hamas and the Palestinian Authority. The Palestinian Authority new unity government, according to Mahmoud Abbas, estimates it will take four-billion dollars to rebuild Gaza and an additional four-and-a-half-billion dollars to fully cover the Palestinian Authority debts and obligations such as payrolls including those for Hamas government and security personnel. In addition the United Nations agency UNRWA is demanding one-billion-six-hundred-thousand dollars to “rehabilitate Gaza” after Hamas’s most recent terror war. I am actually shocked and glad to see that UNRWA has not attempted to lay the blame on Israel excusing Hamas of any responsibility, this may be a sign of progress or simply an exception soon to be lost in a retreat to same-old same-old. What will be lacking from most coverage of the needs for funds by the disparate entities which will have their hands out in Cairo is that Hamas, the entity which was supposedly absorbed into the unity government, is also seeking a paltry few hundred million dollars to pay off their debts and assist their melding into the Unity Government. What you will not be hearing is that both Hamas and Islamic Jihad have already begun rebuilding those infiltration tunnels and that they started on this rebuilding project within hours of the final ceasefire and have been continuing ever since. You also will not hear that Hamas recently made a proclamation they will continue struggle stating “we will fight till the last drop of blood.”

Meanwhile, there have been organized riots daily on the Temple Mount in order to prevent Jews from accessing during the weeklong holiday of Sukkot, one of the three pilgrimage holidays in which the Jews were required to come to Jerusalem and the Temple in history when there was a Temple in Jerusalem. Another little fact which will also be removed from the news items and editorials will be the pledge by Hamas to spend as many millions of dollars it may take to keep riots and assaults active on the Temple Mount to prevent the Jews from having access. The emphasis will be a sympathetic listing of the numbers of Gazans without shelter or whose homes were destroyed by the exchange of Hamas rockets and Israeli strikes targeting the rocket launch locations. We might hear about how Hamas and the other terror entities in Gaza had no alternative than to fire rockets from heavily populated areas as Gaza is the most densely populated areas in the world. Both the falsehood of this density canard and examples of Hamas and other terrorists within Gaza intentionally firing from built-up areas including adjacent to the hotel utilized by journalists during the conflict in the article “Gaza, Hamas, Corrected Falsehoods, Frightening Realities” including a video of the setting-up of a rocket firing location adjacent a hotel and a map which displays the fact that the majority of Gaza is open land and farmland with dispersed urban areas accounting for less than ten percent of the area.

There have been some editorials claiming that many of the Palestinians numerous regular donor nations, NGOs and others have been expressing concern and apprehensions that their donations would be reallocated or simply stolen and end up lining the pockets of the leadership or go towards purchases of arms and materials to build terror tunnels and other structures or that materials meant for rebuilding public and private structures destroyed during the conflict would also be absconded for the use for terrorist tunnels, bunkers , command and control or other structures needed to initiate another confrontation with Israel resulting in additional damage and the destruction of any of the reconstruction which the finances were intended to build. Virtually everything people will read in the majority of the mainstream media for the coming week will be supportive and assuring that the new Palestinian unity government will be in complete control of the rebuilding of Gaza and that the situation has completely changed and all the sins of the past have been addressed and will no longer pose any threat for misuse of any funding received as Mahmoud Abbas and the new Unity Government will have complete and culpable oversight. There will be absolutely no mention to the recent Israeli arrest and foiling of a Hamas coup against Abbas which was assembled and poised to strike in Judea and Samaria (West Bank) and place Hamas in control over the Palestinian Authority and the unity government rendering Mahmoud Abbas and the current leadership of the Palestinians muted and powerless, providing they would have been allowed to live. But no word of the continuing tensions and power struggles which could erupt again at any instant as there are funds to be had and trust must be put front and center in the display of our new and incorruptible unity government, or so says Mahmoud Abbas. We also cannot mention the numbers of construction companies which are owned by Mahmoud Abbas and his family who have the inside track on contracts from the Palestinian Authority. We must stay positive until the pledges are made and the checks deposited and then reality can creep silently back and before anybody can blink there will be the realization that somehow the pledged financing has fallen far short of accomplishing the aims we had projected they would cover and there will be another donors’ conference in a new city, perhaps Doha, Qatar where the luxurious hotels and lifestyle of the rich and infamous will help loosen donors’ purses and the funding will flow and last a couple of months until yet another gala event will be held and the media will play up the trustworthiness of Mahmoud Abbas and the guarantees will be rung and the sound will be claimed to be truthful, or at least as honest as history has shown. Will the world be fooled again and the fools and their monies soon parted?
