Why is Kerry Forcing Deal on Netanyahu which Abbas Rejected?

Currently the United States has Martin Indyk in Israel pressing IDF generals to not only accept the latest and touted as greatest plan for peace by forming a Palestinian State and sacrificing Israeli security in the process but to go forth to the Israeli media and regale them with the wondrous and splendid qualities and the benefits that will pour forth to Israel once they have withdrawn from Judea and Samaria and turned over the Jordan Valley to third party troops who will assure Israeli security just as well as UNIFIL has secured southern Lebanon from any Hezballah buildup. Yep, that is the bedtime story being sold to Israeli generals and leadership and what Secretary of State Kerry will be spending January, and more if necessary, shoving down Netanyahu’s throat come what may. What makes all of this so curious is that this is the plan that upon hearing the terms and other particulars of the plan, Mahmoud Abbas not only totally rejected the entirety of Kerry’s proposition, and held a press conference specifically to reject Kerry’s plan immediately after Kerry had returned to Jerusalem, but also called an emergency meeting of the Arab League so they too could totally reject the entirety of the Kerry Peace Plan which is a combination of the Arab Plan (originally called the Saudi Plan) with the Alon Plan (which was originally rejected by the United States Joint Chiefs of Staff who proposed a solution in which minimal Israeli requirements to achieve security as guaranteed by United Nations resolutions including United Nations Security Council Resolution 242). So, this whole affair begs the question of why are the United States administration officials pressing so hard to force Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, the top IDF generals, the members of the Prime Minister’s cabinet and many of the most popular and respected Ministers of the Knesset to accept this deal which the Palestinians and the entirety of the Arab world have completely and utterly rejected and refused all tenets of the plan?

The truth can be revealed as these incongruous efforts to force Israel to agree to a suicidal plan has become evident beyond any shadow of a doubt. President Obama, first off, has no love lost regarding Israel and would not lose any sleep over the complete annihilation of the Jewish state. President Obama also desires to earn a Nobel Peace Prize to match the first one he received simply for being elected President of the United States and the hope and change that they had in his momentous victory. The Nobel Prize Committee probably were shocked that a person other than an old white man of privilege was elected President in the United States thus President Obama had to be granted their highest prize, the Nobel Peace Prize. President realizes that if he can force the establishment of a Palestinian state then he may just win that second Nobel Peace Prize and will have definitely validated his receiving his first Nobel Peace Prize. President Obama realizes that he does not require Mahmoud Abbas’s signature or support of a peace plan that forms a Palestinian state. As long as the agreement which causes the formation of a Palestinian state restricts Israel from a defined area which will be considered to be the Palestinian state and this area relatively matches the general ideas and definitions that most believe is required to be considered Palestine, then President Obama has formed a Middle East peace, formed a Palestinian state, and made peace between the Arab world and Israel. It does not matter that in reality there is no peace and that all President Obama will have accomplished is to reset up the initial conditions for a replay of the unsuccessful Arab assault on Israel to, as Egypt President Nasser stated in late May of 1967, drive the Jews into the sea. President Obama will have set the playing field for the next Arab Israeli War and nothing will prevent that war from commencing within a few short years at most.

President Obama, Secretary of State Kerry, and special council Indyk all do not really care what Mahmoud Abbas desires as long as they can force the Israeli leadership to agree to sufficient suicidal concessions which the Palestinian leadership has demanded previously which will permit them to claim total success, present the United Nations Security Council with the agreement signed by Prime Minister Netanyahu and then join with the rest of the members, permanent and those assigned, of the Security Council in voting to admit Palestine to full membership in the United Nations. This would be followed almost instantly with a similar vote declaring the same Palestine as a full member of the United Nations. This would in turn be followed by close to two hundred nations recognizing Palestine with its capital city in East Jerusalem (while everybody will still claim that Tel Aviv is the Israeli capital by continuing to station their embassies in that city), its borders as the Jordan River and the Green Line (some may even go one step further and claim it reaches from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea replacing Israel) and nations will rush funds in aid to celebrate this wondrous event while businesses rush to build and form trade with this newest of nations.

It will not matter that many of these factories and offices placed in Palestine will be rejected as infidel exploiters and face terrorist strikes and bombings. What will matter is Israel has finally been forced to give the Palestinians their state and the horrid apartheid occupation has finally been ended. Of course President Obama will be hailed as the greatest and most effective diplomatic President in the history of the United States, no, the entire span of humankind. Mahmoud Abbas will have no choice but to accept that Palestine has been formed, recognized and now he can proceed to the next phase of the eradication of Israel by steps and start planning the next Arab war to destroy Israel. One can only hope that Abbas will face rejections and other difficulties in gathering together a force to finish the replacement of Israel with an Arab Muslim state. Unfortunately, I fear that such a task may be the easiest task Abbas will ever face as it is likely that the Arab and Muslim leaders of the world will be knocking at his door offering to aid him, for a small concession, of course. All will desire to take on the glory of being the new Saladin.

United States Secretary of State Kerry stated after meetings with Palestinian Arab representatives in Bethlehem Wednesday, “We consider now, and have always considered, the (Israeli) settlements to be illegitimate.” This was most likely the official position straight from President Obama who probably had instructed Secretary Kerry to publically call out the Israelis over building even in these areas beyond the Green Line which will be retained by Israel, or so had been the assumptions before President began his offensive to force Israel to retreat completely back to the Green Line as he had stated early in his Presidency. President Obama has allowed for rumors that this early on statement of his was a case of his misspeaking as there have been other statements which, if truthful, belie that original statement. The quote most often offered is one Senator Obama, one day after announcing he had secured the required number of delegates to win the Democratic nomination, delivered a speech at the annual American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) policy conference where he stated, “Jerusalem will remain the capital of Israel, and it must remain undivided.” What is seldom brought up by the defenders of President Obama as one of the greatest friends of Israel is that within the week in a CNN interview, Fareed Zakaria Obama clarified this statement claiming, “the truth is that this was an example where we had some poor phrasing in the speech” and the need to be more “careful in terms of our syntax.” There are other examples which lay bare the animosity felt by President Obama for Israel, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, Israeli Foreign Minister Lieberman and his preference for Israel to surrender in any manner for which he does not need to take ownership of but which will no doubt only occur because of his contrary undercutting of the Israeli position on every conceivable front from the Palestinians to Iran to the Europeans. We covered numerous other examples of President Obama’s ill will and the manner in which it has been displayed both against Israel herself and her Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu towards the end of the article “Palestinians Executing Planned Hijacking of Peace Process.” The article also provides some information which will give other information on the subjects in the rest of this article and is worth a read.

As is often the case, there are many separate issues throughout the Middle East and Northern Africa and as is also often the case, Israel reaching a peace agreement which establishes a Palestinian state is often heralded as being the necessary item after which everything else will simply melt into comfortable solutions with minimal if any efforts. Needless to point out that this supposition is ridiculous after even the slightest evaluation of most of the difficulties in these areas. Just for an example, let’s see if I can find ten items which have absolutely nothing to do with Israel other than somebody is attempting to tie the problem to the Israeli-Palestinian peace process or simply they are blaming Israel in an attempt to muddy the waters. There is the obvious (1) Syrian civil war, (2) the increasing terrorism and Sunni Shiite fighting in Iraq, (3) Boco Haram terrorists are murdering Christians and blowing up their churches, businesses and homes in northern and central Nigeria as they work their way southward in an attempt to turn all of Nigeria into another Muslim State, (4) the fighting between tribal forces, the government and al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula continues unabated in Yemen, (5) Somalia is still experiencing the horrors of warring warlords and tribes which makes forming any real government impossible, (6) Kenya is still recovering from the horrific terror attack on the Westgate Shopping Mall, (7) Egypt is still recovering from the military takeover of the government in a coup which the military claims they acted to enforce the will of the people while the Muslim Brotherhood is refusing to surrender their rule as they feel their wins in the election should entitle them to continue to lead and rule Egypt while the military continues to not set a date for new elections which would alleviate much of the trouble and tension and might even garner support from around the world, (8) Riots and ever larger protests are tearing apart Tunisia as the people are revolting against their Muslim Brotherhood dominated government demanding they have new elections since they appear unable to make the necessary changes to stimulate the Tunisian economy, (9) Violence has spilled into Lebanon where Sunni and Shiite groups are attacking each other mostly through terrorist bombings with Hezballah territory in southern Beirut being one of the major targets, and (10) Well, looks like I can only think of nine off the top of my head but I assure you there are more which perhaps someone could help. I’m sure there must be something concerning Pakistan, Afghanistan or Turkey but nothing solid comes to mind.

Back to the United States initiated peace talks between the Israelis and the Palestinians. As we have mentioned before, the United States pressured Israel to offer to make a short list of possible concessions to be made to the Palestinians as a sign of faith but not technically meeting a precondition. The choices were presented to the Palestinians after the United States has worked on Israel to form a list and the choice came down to either another building freeze or a terrorist prisoner release. The Palestinian Authority leadership chose the Terror Prisoner release and were informed that Israel had plans to build in the areas beyond the Green Line. The Palestinians thus knew before the negotiations began that Israel would be building in the disputed areas since they had chosen to force terrorist prisoner releases. Ever since the Palestinians made their choice and the dye was cast they have been demanding that Israel be also made to obey a building freeze despite the fact that this was particularly not a part of their agreement. Of course the Palestinians have a long history of making a choice when offered either this or that and then after receiving this they then immediately start to demand that as well. This works well in Europe as they never seem to run out of advocates who echo everything the Palestinians demand without fail. One of the most blatant of these echo-chamber personalities is Richard Falk who has also managed to get appointed as the United Nations Special Rapporteur on Human Rights in the Palestinian Territories which is a position designed to solely and at every possible chance accuse the Israelis of crimes against the Palestinians without any need to consider actions emanating from the Palestinians toward the Israelis as the definition of his position negates all concerns of inspection of both sides equally. With the comments made by Secretary Kerry on Wednesday and my and many others’ understanding of President Obama’s heartfelt position, any building the Israelis actually perform will result in additional housing for the Palestinians should President Obama be charged with deciding on the terms for a settlement between the Palestinians and the Israelis.

Even at the very beginning of this latest round of peace talks there was controversy over President Obama and his choice of Martin Indyk to be the mediator of the talks. The concerns stemmed from the fact that Mr. Indyk worked as co-chairman of the far left-wing NGO, the New Israel Fund, which finances numerous leftist organizations and NGOs which support the Palestinian view that Israel is an aggressor nation occupying their lands and/or the BDS, Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions against Israel until they retreat from every inch of Palestinian land, a phrase that has had a very undefined and constantly encroaching definition which is planned to eventually erase all of Israel and replace it with a Palestinian Muslim Arab State. Of all the demands that the Palestinians have made there are two which are very revealing as they display the true and honest demand that Israel must cease to exist in order to satisfy them completely and that they will never end the terrorism and demands while a single Jew remains in the area between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea. These two demands are that, first, Israel allow five million or more Arab Palestinian refugees to emigrate into Israel and be granted citizenship just as if they were Jews returning under the Right of Return Laws which permit Jews to return to Israel as it is their homeland liberated after nearly two millennia spent in the Diaspora, the same terms the Palestinians adopted as part and parcel of their manufactured historic struggle for their long lost homeland which never existed throughout history, and second, that the Palestinians reserve the right to continue the struggle even after a peace treaty has been signed as there can be no real peace until all of Palestine from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea has been liberated and cleansed of its Jewish infestation. These two demands are as revealing as it gets that their designs and desires are no different than were those of Gamal Abdel Nasser who in 1967 rallied the combined armies of Syria and Egypt, who together constituted the United Arab Republic, under the war cry of “We will drive the Jews into the Sea and liberate our lands.” That has remained the desire even as the Arabs replaced their interests by substituting the Palestinians as by having the Palestinians as the Arab interest it denies Israel of being the underdog and outnumbered and instead casts the Arab as the Palestinians as the new underdogs and Israel as the all-powerful force. Truth be told, should the Palestinians ever push Israel back behind the Green Line we will see that there is no difference between the combined strength of the Arab nations and the Palestinians when the Arabs pour their forces into the Palestinian areas of Judea and Samaria (West Bank) as well as Gaza and Egypt, Lebanon (Hezballah) and if possible Syria perch their forces on Israel’s borders and the next Arab-Israeli war begins. That is providing the entire world does not decide to enforce a United Nations edict establishing a Palestinian State with whatever borders President Obama dictates in his presentation to the Security Council in his move to punish Israel and Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu for denying him his second Nobel Peace Prize Award by not surrendering to every Palestinian desire, as he demands they do and do immediately.

Why Obama Will Continue to Ignore Alarms by Netanyahu

There are a number of reasons working together, any one of which is sufficient to turn President Obama’s hearing off when Netanyahu gives any warnings about the Middle East or even the greater world. The major impetus behind the wall President Obama has placed to block Netanyahu out derives from the belief in President Obama’s mind that he knows more about what is happening in the Middle East and who can be trusted and which leaders he needs to woo and that his being raised in Indonesia gives him experiences and an innate knowledge which he believes will prove him correct in the end. Part of this insider knowledge that President Obama relies on is his familiarity with Islamic beliefs and society of Indonesia of his youth. No matter how many experts make claims that the form of Islam practiced in Indonesia at the time that President Obama resided there was completely different than the forms of Islam being practiced today in the Middle East and North Africa as well as the Islamist Madrassas around the Western World, President Obama is determined to prove that he knows best. President Obama’s pridefulness and inability to admit to his own mistakes, especially in matters concerning the Middle East and the Islamic World make for a combination where changing his perceptions on such subjects is simply impossible. The best examples of the President’s inability to adapt or incorporate new information if it does not fit his carefully crafted view of how he believes things to be can be found in Egypt and Turkey as well as the obvious, Israel.

In Egypt President Obama still holds to the policy which dictates that the Muslim Brotherhood is, as then Director of National Intelligence James Clapper said at a House Intelligence Committee hearing, “The Muslim Brotherhood is a very heterogeneous group, largely secular.” Group that “has eschewed violence and has decried Al Qaeda as a perversion of Islam” and “have pursued social ends, a betterment of the political order in Egypt.” He added that the Muslim Brotherhood, which has branches in many Muslim countries, has “no overarching agenda, particularly in pursuit of violence, at least internationally.” President Obama also believes that the Freedom and Justice Party’s President Morsi won the first elections after the removal of former strong man and American longtime ally President Mubarak in a totally free election in which there were no improprieties despite evidence to the contrary and that the fact that the Muslim Brotherhood was the most organized and the only group in a position to organize and conduct a coherent campaign and thus guaranteed to win the election. President Obama has also chosen to ignore the fact that Egyptian people in the tens of millions protested, signed petitions and carried out the most massive popular revolution calling for the removal of President Morsi. The protests to remove President Morsi were actually larger and more invigorated than those a little over a year earlier which dethroned Mubarak. President Obama prefers to believe and act as if the Egyptian Military acted solely on their own without any mandate from the people and has even gone so far as to blame all of the violence on the Egyptian Military totally absolving the Muslim Brotherhood of any guilt. Any casual observer of the violence being perpetrated against the Egyptian people, especially the Coptic Christians and any non-Sunni Muslims would easily see the evidence that the Muslim Brotherhood and al-Qaeda are behind much of the violence evidenced by the black flag and the Muslim Brotherhood banner being carried by the gangs violently attacking the people and intentionally attempting to destroy Egypt if they are not returned to power.

Then there is Turkey and President Obama’s declared bestest friend in the Middle East, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan. As we noted close to a decade ago and has been commented upon by numerous Middle Eastern experts, Prime Minister Erdogan has been slowly but surely moving the Turkish governance from a secular governance into a Sharia governance. Prime Minister Erdogan had warned Egyptian President Morsi very early in his time in office that he should emulate the example that Prime Minister Erdogan had used in Turkey of small increments and taking one’s time and not rushing or pushing the people too quickly so that they did not revolt to the sudden changes and the potentially unpopular proponents of Sharia. Morsi did not listen and if the violent protests which have gripped Turkey of late are any evidence, even taking the slow but steady change from secular to Sharia did not prove successful either. Add to this that the reaction from the Turkish government was just announced by the Justice and Interior ministries that people can now be jailed if they think about protesting against the government. Meanwhile, as the Egyptian Military is backing the temporary government by destroying the majority of smuggling tunnels from the Sinai into the Hamas stronghold of Gaza in order to prevent Hamas, an arm of the Muslim Brotherhood formed to attack Israel, from smuggling terrorists back into the Sinai to attack Egyptian villages and military outposts, Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan has invited and met for the third time this past year Hamas chief Khaled Mashaal. Of course this does not appear to cause President Obama any concern as he just announced a $200 million program under which Turkey and Qatar will develop materials aimed at promoting the Muslim Brotherhood’s Islamist agenda while cutting off military aid to Egypt until they reinstate Muslim Brotherhood representative Morsi to the Presidency. Also, do not expect any apology any time in the foreseeable future to come from President Obama to Prime Minister Netanyahu for forcing him to apologize to Prime Minister Erdogan over the actions on the blockade runner Mavi Marmara where nine terrorists died after they posed a fatal threat as they attacked Israeli Special Forces who boarded the ship to enforce the blockade with paintball guns loaded with pepper-balls and were attacked with knives, steel rods, and other small arms. The closest that Turkey has come to making any return gesture to Israel has been complete and rudely given refusals to accept the apology and the obvious warming gestures with Hamas which may soon result with Hamas moving their headquarters from Qatar to Turkey.

Further proof of President Obama’s affections for the Muslim Brotherhood has been obvious in Syria where the only thing preventing full United States support of the Rebel forces has been the warnings and threats from Russia and China. The only times that President Obama has taken steps which may have proven advantageous for Syrian dictator President Bashir al-Assad has been the leaking of information proving the suspicions that Israel had been behind attacks that prevented the transfer of chemical weapons, advanced anti-air and anti-ship missiles presumably supplied by Russia, and other advanced weapons systems or game changing weapons that provided significant upgrades to Hezballah’s abilities. The sole threat of American intervention came in a threat to Syrian President al-Assad primarily when President Obama said, “We have been very clear to the Assad regime, but also to other players on the ground, that a red line for us is we start seeing a whole bunch of chemical weapons moving around or being utilized. That would change my calculus. That would change my equation.” This brought about the now infamous backpedaling and stalling until Russian President Putin supplied President Obama a get untangled from your tongue alternative which he, of course, took immediately. Of course, many have pointed out that Syria is a no win proposition and what would probably serve the future best would be a prolonged conflict where the civilians who remain were permitted to leave or be provided safe-zones and eventually have, strangely enough, President al-Assad remain in power even if he ruled a small area while the rest of Syria was divided between the Kurds and the other forces. The one result we would like to have from all the turmoil and violence, especially in Syria and Iraq, would be a Kurdish state combining the Kurdish controlled areas in northern Iraq and north-east Syria, but that may simply be a dream as the Kurds have historically been treated poorly and denied their promised homeland simply because J. P. Getty wanted the central Iraqi oil fields which was within the areas promised the Kurds after World War I, and one thing anybody familiar with the broken promises to the Jews after World War I knows is just how unfairly the British were with the Kurds.

The final country which President Obama has taken as far back a seat as possible allowing even the Europeans to show definitively more leadership than he, is Iran. Yes, after years of wrestling with the Europeans President Obama has been dragged to a point where the sanctions on Iran are having their intended effect. The Iranians, masters in chess and the art of deception, have played their hand masterly with their choice of Hasan Rouhani as their new President and face before the world. He contrasts with former President Ahmadinejad nearly perfectly and has been hailed by an overanxious West as the revelation of a new and open Iran. He has been hailed as approachable and having shown an honest intention to make changes and reveal the entirety of the Iranian nuclear program with an honesty that will be unquestionable. This is all well and good except that it is a complete and total fabrication. President Hasan Rouhani was formerly the lead negotiator for the Iranians in their nuclear talks and as such he glad-handed and smiled his way adroitly avoiding revealing anything about the Iranian nuclear program as he also oversaw the installation of thousands of centrifuges. He was proven to be a masterful deceiver who was well spoken and had a full understanding of the West and the weaknesses of each person with whom he would need to deal. Adding to this is the fact that absolutely nothing has changed in the actual power structure in Iran. They have the same Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei who is the real power and very likely the person most responsible for Hasan Rouhani’s election. The twelve on the Council of Guardians, six of whom are appointed by the Supreme Leader, have not changed and were responsible for choosing who would be permitted on the ballot in the elections. Since virtually all of the real power rests with the Council of Guardians and the Supreme Leader, nothing in Iran has changed except they have a new puppet to place on the world stage and apparently that is sufficient for a Western World who wish to find any reason to avoid having to face the facts that Iran is pursuing nuclear weapons and is very likely to either use them or threaten their use in order to have a nuclear umbrella that guards their terrorist attacks across the globe. President Obama sees in Iran his chance to receive another Nobel Peace Prize and honestly believes his oratory abilities will sway the Iranians from their pursuit of nuclear weapons. The only times that President Obama might decide to take any real actions against Iran would be in order to force concessions from Prime Minister Netanyahu to the Palestinian. Even then his promise will more likely be broken and in the end if the negotiations do not produce the result he envisions as equitable and fair final peace treaty, which is the complete capitulation by Israel of all lands and every one of the Palestinian demands even including some form of Right of Return for millions of Palestinian refugees, President Obama is considering forcing a peace of his liking on the Israelis even if it requires a Chapter VII Security Council Resolution granting the Palestinians the entire enchilada with the threat of military enforcement by the nations willing to enforce the United Nation edict. President Obama is going to be the first man in history to win the Nobel Peace Prize before he did anything to earn it and then his efforts to prove he deserved it resulting in starting World War III. What a legacy.
