The Canard of Israeli Responsibility for Arab Palestinians

Roderick Balfour decided to correct his forebearers horrific error of permitting the Jews to have a homeland as long as they allowed for the existing residents to retain religious, civil, property and all other rights with the exception of political rights which would be reserved for the Jews and those whom they decided to permit political rights either individually or as a group. Roderick Balfour has claimed that the reason behind the growing anti-Semitism is the lack of Israel in finding a solution to the Palestinian conflict. Apparently Broderick Balfour believes that Israel could simply impose a solution without the entire world exploding in raucous demands that Israel negotiate before reaching any agreement as the Palestinians must be permitted their input in any solution. Even were Israel to allow for the maximalist solution and destroy the literally hundreds of thousands of Israelis homes and businesses including those in East Jerusalem and returned to within the Green Line and recognize the areas beyond the Green Line as Palestine the problem would be anything but solved nor would the world accept this as a fair solution despite the generous granting of what the world currently claims is the maximalist demand. As soon as this solution would be enacted Mahmoud Abbas would be in New York, Turtle Bay to be exact, before the General Assembly of the United Nations denouncing the audacity of Israel imposing a solution on the Palestinian Arabs which is wholly unacceptable. Then he would ask what is to be done with the eight million Palestinian refugees including the millions re-exiled from Syria because of Israel not recognizing their right to return and live in and around Tel Aviv. The world would then take up the demand that Israel allow eight million Arabs to be resettled within Israel and forcing Israel to grant them full citizenship and then hold an election so they could elect Mahmoud Abbas as Prime Minister of Israel, and that would be the result of such an eventuality. The world would see nothing wrong with such a result as it would fulfill one of what appears to be a main desire of the world as a whole, the elimination of Israel and the eradication or complete subjugation of the Jewish people. If the United Nations could through the General Assembly make one religion a crime it would be Judaism. You doubt that claim but let us not forget the United Nations General Assembly Resolution 3379 where they voted seventy-two approving, thirty-five against and thirty-two abstained declaring amongst other things, Zionism is a form of racism and racial discrimination. That vote is all too close to that United Nations General Assembly declaration which chose the nationalist movement supporting Israel, Zionism, as a form of racism is equivalent to Israeli policies being the cause of people having antagonistic feelings to Jews simply because they are perceived to support Israel thus are suspected of Zionism and thus deserving of scorn.

Anti-Semitism, Zionism Equals Racism, Israelis are the New Nazis

Anti-Semitism, Zionism Equals Racism, Israelis are the New Nazis

Here is the reality which so few ever address, the problem with solving the Palestinian Arab problem lies with the Palestinian Arab leadership who refuse to even negotiate. What is even more revealing is the reason why they refuse to negotiate, they are rewarded for refusing to even negotiate, let alone reach an agreement. The original Oslo Accords divided the regions of Judea and Samaria into three sections depending on their likelihood for development and residence. Area A was dedicated to Palestinian Arab political and security control. Area B was left to Palestinian Arab political control and mutual Israeli and Palestinian Arab security control. Area C was given to Israeli political and security control. The intent was that Area A would remain under Palestinian Arab control, Area C would remain under Israeli control and the negotiations would be over where to draw the lines in Area B. By refusing to settle and then even to negotiate the world had rewarded the Palestinian Arabs with now demanding that Israel surrender most if not all of Area A, B and C and give away half of Jerusalem and forcing over three-quarters of a million Israelis to resettle destroying their homes and, for many, their places of work as well as where numbers of Arabs also work. And the fact that as time has passed the world had sided with the Palestinian Arabs and demanded more than the international agreement demanded from the Israelis. Israel lost any part of Area B they might have received in negotiations and all of Area C which the original Oslo Accords would have awarded Israel. But additionally the world had rewarded Mahmoud Abbas, his family members, the top members of his monopoly on power with millions, tens of millions and for the elite hundreds of millions of dollars and continues to do so year after year, month after month. The world spends more on each Palestinian refugee each year than they do on some whole groups of refugees. Further, Palestinian refugee status is the sole group of refugees whose status is passed on from one generation to the next. If a Palestinian refugee were to marry a Hawaiian and had three children who each married, one to a Parisian, one to a New Yorker and the last to a Brazilian and each of those couples had three children, how many Palestinians would that have at the end? The answer is seventeen Palestinian Arabs refugees, the original refugee, the person they married gets refugee status, each of the three children, the three people they marries and all nine children from those marriages. If that makes no sense, imagine the same thing with a Haitian refugee and the end count with the same mathematics and you end up with one Haitian refugee.

Yes, that did not help much. All the world’s refugees except the Palestinian Arab refugees are cared for by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), also known as the UN Refugee Agency. The Palestinian Arab refugees are cared for by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA). They are the sole group to have their own refugee agency. According to the figures for 2014 UNRWA received $1,342,180,849 to cover just over five million refugees which provides per refugee just over two-hundred-fifty dollars while UNHCR $3,055,908,219 to cover just over sixteen million refugees which provides per refugee just under one-hundred-ninety dollars. Despite this and the fact that the Palestinian Authority, the governing body responsible for governing all aspects of the Palestinian Arab refugees in Judea and Samaria, receives additional hundreds of millions if not billions per year from the European Union, United States, individual European nations, numerous Arab nations every year resulting in far greater available funds for these refugees. Additionally, there are some of the largest Palestinian Arab refugee camps located within Gaza which is governed by Hamas, a Palestinian Arab group recognized by most as a refugee entity, though that has become debatable in much of Europe and another few located in areas under Palestinian Authority governance. The difference between these refugees and the presumed Palestinian Arabs, who are also technically under United Nations definitions, also refugees are, well, which side of the barbed wire and which are permitted freedom of movement and which are restrained at gunpoint. Mahmoud Abbas and his security forces enforce a difference between the Palestinian Arab refugees residing inside the barbed wire and the Palestinian Arab refugees residing outside the barbed wire for one reason only, the ones located inside the barbed wire are left from when Jordan held the region illegally after the 1948 war with Israel and are denoted to be relocated within Israel. This makes them a form of weapon against Israel so that no matter what Israel does, as long as Israel remains the homeland for the Jewish People, then Israel has not sacrificed enough.

Israel cannot resolve the Palestinian Arab conflict simply because the problem is not the fact that there are Arab refugees but that there is a Jewish State. The Arabs decided back in the Khartoum Resolution of 1967 and the Three No’s; NO peace with Israel, NO recognition of Israel, NO negotiations with Israel. Please explain exactly how Israel can resolve the problem under these conditions, and Mahmoud Abbas has assured the Arab World that he will abide by the spirit of these restrictions and will never settle for anything less than the complete destruction of the Jewish State and the Jews either scattered to the far corners of the world or exterminated. This was the promise made originally by Yasser Arafat and has been continued by his understudy, Mahmoud Abbas. This is why the Arab refugees are still held in camps. What is interesting is when Kuwait deported every last single Palestinian worker after Yasser Arafat supported Saddam Hussein during the first Iraq War after he conquered Kuwait and upon their liberation by the United States and their coalition. There has been no additional outrage when Bashir al-Assad shelled the Palestinian Refugee camps within Syria, did you even know there were Palestinian refugee camps in Syria and that they were shelled? Assad actually shelled them before any other location simply because he figured they would oppose him naturally and why not simply make sure such could not happen. We do not really know the why al-Assad decided to bomb and shell the camps before anywhere else including areas where he knew that his opposition was located. Why was there no anger throughout the world and Resolutions from the United Nations General Assembly against Kuwait or Syria over the Palestinian Refugees? Perhaps because they were not Israel? If you doubt that as the reason, well, hate to burst your bubble but that is exactly why there was no world reaction. As for Roderick Balfour and his claim that Israeli politics is responsible for growing world anti-Semitism, well, that is about as true as claiming that Canadian politics is responsible for people denigrating Canadians or Putin’s intervention in Syria is responsible for anti-Cossack feelings. Roderick Balfour ends by stating his unwillingness to participate in the Centenary Celebration of the Balfour Declaration unless Israel takes unilateral action to end the conflict. One wonders if Israel took the only unilateral measure which is within her power to end the conflict would pass Roderick Balfour’s sensibilities, unilaterally deporting the Palestinian Arabs to Syria or whoever else might take them.

European Nations are falling in line either giving actual recognition to an Arab state to be carved out of Israel or recommending in a hollow but still highly symbolic votes by their parliaments of empty proclamations intended to persuade their Prime Minister to officially change their stance away from demanding that the only solution to the Arab-Israeli conflict be one reached by the reconciliation formed agreement in a formal treaty by the two sides. The European Union has been flirting with recognizing a new Arab state carved from Israel but has refrained from such recognition apparently waiting for a supermajority of the member states to formally grant their blessings recognizing that Arab state. The slow wave which has started in Europe will eventually inundate the continent and be adopted formally by the European Union as a response to the growing and oft violent population of young Arabs.

Emanating from Turkey, North Africa, the Middle East, Afghanistan and Pakistan, these immigrants have begun to demonstrate, often with varying degrees of civil unrest and violence. Sometimes this violence is targeted at Jewish institutions including synagogues, kosher food outlets and other known Jewish owned stores and the stores which have a large Jewish patronage. The reasoning behind European governments kowtowing before the violent ‘Day of Rage’, anti-Zionist and anti-Israel demonstrations and taking stands against Israel is simple survival instinct which is present in more than individuals, but also found in national bodies, populations and entire nations and their governments. These recognitions were rooted in fear of continued violence from the Arab and Muslim populations and further inspired against Israel, as a byproduct, the nations’ Jews, because Arab Muslims tend to demonstrate, often violently. Alternately, Jews seldom demonstrate instead relying on their utilization of close contacts and direct influence trusting their friendships and relations with the numerous people they have known for some time and have built up a degree of confidence and who have proven their high degree of support for Israel and the nation’s Jewish population. History has proven that while many a revolution is inspired resorting to violence only sparingly, it is those who are willing to utilize violence who in the end take control.

Historically there are numerous examples where in the end those willing to utilize violence proved to win the hearts and minds of the people and came to power. Going back to the French Revolution you had two groups who desired the overthrow of the monarchy replacing it with a representative republic. The French Revolution is often referred to as having two distinctive stages; the first, which was by far less violent, was performed between the bourgeois and the nobility while the second, which proved to be very violent, pitted the proletariat fighting the bourgeois and executing to permanently destroy the royalty and the extravagances of the royal court. Eventually a government was formed around Robespierre and the use of the guillotine became prolific. Eventually even the members of the initial revolt are classified as enemies of the new governance; The Weimar Republic lasted briefly before their governance over Germany was replaced by the Nazi war machine. Similarly, the governance of Russia soon after they replaced the rule of the Czars with a representative government, it also was itself overturned by the Communist Revolution. Even the United States after gaining their freedom from Britain went through a phase of governance which failed called the Confederated States of America which failed and was rapidly replaced by the Constitutional United States of America and the rest is history.

You are likely asking what relevance this has concerning the formation of an Arab state to exist and provide independence for the Arabs between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea where there was presumably to be an Arab state beside Israel. The eventual governance for the Arabs in all of their claimed lands which would necessarily stand beside Israel was given a trial run when the Israeli government withdrew all Israelis living in Gaza as well as every last security and military presence intending that the Gaza would be the initial opportunity for the future rule should Israel depart all of Judea and Samaria allowing for this newest Arab governance to rule independently from any Israeli limitations, influences or interference. The Palestinian rule over this newest trial for Arab independent governance was soon violently overturned by Hamas who immediately forced the removal and surrender of the Palestinian rulers and replaced them with a terrorist run entity in Gaza.

Even now with the presumed unifying of the Arab state under the Palestinian Authority governance which itself is not legitimate as they have refused to stand for election of the top spot of chairman of the governance in Judea and Samaria. Further, the Arab state existing currently under a unity governance still has limited control over Gaza despite the presumed fact that Hamas has relinquished control there. What everything has presumably been set-up to provide was to be the governing Arab entity in Judea and Samaria with its capital city being East Jerusalem extending its rule of law to include all of Gaza replacing the current Hamas government. The evidence is that as soon as the Israeli security forces and Israeli Defense Force (IDF) were removed by undisclosed manner, then the Arab governance would very soon after this formation be assumed and placed under control of Hamas which would near immediately establish the terror-based governance in all of the Arab controlled areas. This would extensively be a training and launching pad for a new Arab terror based entity similar in some ways to Somalia with one clarifying difference, this time the terrorism would be forming on Europe’s doorstep. We have already witnessed this exact scenario subsequent to the Israeli disengagement from Gaza which resulted in Hamasistan and would be repeated simply on a larger scale should the European rush to recognize an Arab state immediately or even in the near future as the children have all been indoctrinated with a zealous hatred for Israel, the Israeli public and the Jews within most of all who also are trained terrorists, something proven almost daily within Israel and the territories it currently provides protection.

The world has witnessed the ineffectiveness that the presumably now terror free government worked and what the preference of the people was when they were provided the opportunity for self-rule. This reality has been rejected and a false truth put in its place. The world had demanded that any Arab state to be drawn from within the areas Israel possessed after the Six Day War, which was a defensive war brought upon Israel by the combined armies of Egypt and Syria through the strangling of Israeli maritime access to all of the Red Sea and through it to the Persian Gulf and the Indian Ocean and beyond, be one based on an agreement between the Arabs and Israel, a condition no longer enforced and regarded as having no real and tangible existence except as an entity which the Western world can feel comfortable leaving in charge of these lands in the name of the Arab population. Never mind that Hamas, financially backed by Qatar and armed by Iran and Hezballah, is the true and elected leadership of this Arab state being forced into existence regardless of any political or ethical blindness being practiced by the Europeans and knowing full well what the results will be once Israel is forced to remove her thus far legal troops and established cities, townships, farms, factories, vineyards, schools, clinics and other treasures as the Europeans seeing this will finally be ready to turn the keys of these areas in the presence of a terrorist entity capable and ready to assume leadership over the entirety of this newly recognized entity on their doorstep. Should it be a direct challenge of Israeli existence and be envisioned to be the entity which will bring forth the end of Israel as the Jewish state, then all the better. This little fact may be the main reason that so many across Europe are actually almost anxious to form next dysfunctional terror training and launching pad.

But wait, there’s more! There is another little disastrous secret being ignored just as was the man behind the curtain in the Wizard of Oz, as he was pulling the levers controlling the visage of the all and powerful Oz. This little trivial item is the nearly six-million Arab refugees who have been the truly oppressed victims of the Arab perfidy and plotting. These unfortunates have been trained in UNRWA (United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East) schools which are a front for military training and indoctrination done using American and European funds primarily. This near six-million man military force will be moved into Samaria and Judea vastly increasing the current population of the Palestinians and providing a ready army for the final push into Israel. Immediately after these near six-million refugees, actually the descendants of the original under seven-hundred-fifty-thousand initial refugees in 1949 after the war launched by over a half-dozen Arab and Muslim nations against the nascent state of Israel. These forces held genocidal intent which was averted only by the fighting spirit of these mostly Jewish forces fighting what is referred to in Israel by its sanitary name, the War of Independence. These refugees have the distinction of preceding the eventual forcing of Jews who in the end numbered over eight-hundred-fifty-thousand Jews forced from their home countries, some of which had lived in these lands longer than Islam has existed in this world. Their other difference is what distinguishes Palestinian Arab refugees, the little fact that these refugees are the children, grandchildren and even great-grandchildren of the original refugees who inherited their refugee status and will, in good time, pass their status on to their children and over and over in perpetuity.

Upon the arrival of these refugees, the Arab governance will declare there is insufficient space to take in these refugees, who are, after all, entitled to their homes and lands within Israel across the Green Line which is the determining demarcation from the ending point of the 1948-9 war where Israel defended her inaugural coming out party followed the very next morning with a war intended to annihilate all of Israel which Israel not only survived but secured lands in addition to those she held at the initial point of the conflict. This in and of itself was one of the most astonishing miracles ever to be witnessed by mankind, yet at the same time there are conspiracies to erase such miracles, miracles one can witness daily if they only open their eyes and watch the world throughout Israel. These, they will say, are the returning refugees made homeless by Jewish theft of their homes and lands all within the boundaries of Israel. As such, it will be claimed these unfortunate refugees, whose families have so adamantly held to the dream of reestablishing their communities, will once again enjoy the benefits of ownership of their lands once again.

And then there are the hundreds of thousands of shekels owed each and every one of these refugees to compensate them to rebuild their home and farms plus hundreds of millions, potentially hundreds of billions, trillion or more to compensate them for their misery and pains of being held in substandard refugee camps not allowed to live as a normal individual and being cheated out of so much life and all the little treasures. Immediately the European Union and numerous European nations will petition the United Nations, the International Criminal Court (ICC) and any other agency or court which they believe holds powers to adjudicate the crimes and insults heaped upon these wretched unfortunates and to figure the debt owed these people by Israel and exactly what lands are truly owned and owed to these tragic figures. And lest we forget, think of the deluge of front page and above the fold pictures of the faces of young and old refugees crying tears of joy mixed with the tragedy of learning their family home has been destroyed or is now inhabited by another Arab or, potentially worse, a Jew and that their farmlands now sit beneath a mall’s parking garage. Oh the stories of great plights and sufferings which will accompany every edition covering this tragedy which just screams for the world to set everything right. So what if some Israelis will lose everything as that is only fair as they knowingly stole the lands on which they live and should simply be returned to the lands from which they arrived, let alone the fact that many of those Israeli Jews were born in Israel and have lived nowhere else.

Eventually the Europeans and the rest of the world will reach the sole solution to this tragic situation. It will be decided in international courts, the United Nations General Assembly, the United Nations Security Council and countless NGOs and Arab and Muslim organizations and political bodies that the best solution would be to force the Jews from Israel sending them to whatever nation will permit them residence and the lands of Israel should be granted to these refugees. The fit is near perfect as there are an estimated six-million refugees and Israel has just over six million Jewish citizens. Why do I get such a sinking feeling as we discuss a potential solution affecting six-mission Jews and at the hands of the European nations no less. The problem will be where these Jews will be accepted as they now pay the price for attempting to steal the birthrights to the ancient lands of these Arab peoples whose leadership has claimed have a nine-thousand year history of unbroken ownership of these lands and that they are not really of Arab descent but rather are the remnants of the Phoenician peoples. The one assured fact is that none of the European nations in all their fairness and humanitarian drives which served them so well in reestablishment of the Arabs to the lands they deserve will permit even a single Jews to be resettled within their borders. The end result may be six-million Jews living on rejuvenated World War II warships taken from numerous United States Navy ship graveyards and stripped of their guns and painted in bright and cheerful colors, after all it would be horrible to place these newly minted international refugees who have suddenly found themselves drifting in doubt as they are now a people without a nation. They will have become the new Palestinian people who have had their homelands stolen from under their feet.

And lastly, I would like to set one claim straight which I came across this past week. It was commented and simply then accepted as valid that the Palestinians are the sole people on the face of this planet who have been denied their own homelands. That is so patently false on so many levels. First and foremost; there are no such things and Palestinian people and those claiming to be such are merely Arabs from the nations surrounding the western quarter of the British Mandate lands. Further, about their exclusivity; let us just simply name a few people more unique and truly deserving of having their longstanding claims and demands for their freedom from being lorded over by some nation which views them as usurpers attempting to bring about the downfall of the real occupying nations. The Kurdish people were promised the return of Kurdistan by the British during World War I and immediately after until it came time to draw the borders of the Ottoman Empire which resulted in what should have been the Kurdish homelands we find those lands divided between Turkey, Syria, Iraq and Iran. Then there is the small matter of Tibet and its Chinese conquerors. Free Tibet! Another such example is the Basques whose traditional lands have been divided between Spain and France. The Berbers also have had their traditional homelands usurped by the Arab and Muslim lands which resulted by the redrawing of so much of the globe, especially the efforts after World War I with Sykes-Picot Agreement which divided the lands liberated from the Ottoman Empire after their defeat in World War I by the French, British and Italian victors and signed into effect on May 9, 1916. This was not the sole redrawing of the world’s maps as the dissolving of the Austria-Hungarian Empire in east-central Europe led to a redrawing of a large swath of Europe after World War I.

Then there are the numerous peoples living as part of a larger entity which much of the world lumps it all together under one unit or name, such a Great Britain, while other nations have simply absorbed entire nations such as the numerous Native American tribes subsumed by the United States during their period of expansions and short diversion into colonialism. The same to a lesser extent could be claimed about Canada as one does not grow to include so much majestic and beautiful lands without crossing over a few boundaries, virtually every country on the Earth today displaced some peoples if one only goes all the ways back to even potentially some distant prehistory. Simply put, the Jews return to their ancient homelands are not throwing anybody out of their ancestral lands as that act was perpetrated almost thirty-five centuries ago when the Israelites (what Jews were referred to at that time as the term Jew comes from Judea which was the southernmost tribe which successfully resisted the attempts to conquer its lands) conquered the Promised Lands from the Canaanites whom they destroyed down to the last sheep as the Israelites were instructed presumably to completely destroy the Canaanites in a manner to cleanse the lands from their sinful ways and to satisfy the demands of the L0rd and to cleanse the lands of the sins committed.

Is Israeli Recognition as the Jewish State Really Onerous?

Perhaps first a little background might make the situation clearer. Since President Obama was elected the Israelis have enacted a ten month complete building freeze in all of the contested areas which garnered them one photo opportunity featuring Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu with Palestinian Authority Chairman Abbas and included President Obama all at the White House in Washington D.C. to kick off negotiations. Then there was one meeting followed by a series of additional preconditions demanded by Mahmoud Abbas before he would agree to actually negotiate with the Israelis. After nine months, Abbas demanded of President Obama that he force the Israelis to extend the building freeze indefinitely or until there was a final peace settlement. That request was not accepted by the Israelis as it was seen to be a ruse to simply prevent any Israeli construction while the Palestinians would still refuse to negotiate. Now there has been a renewal of efforts by the United States to forge peace which was facilitated by the Israelis being pressured to provide Palestinian Chairman Abbas with a bribe once again just for the pleasure of being insulted daily while negotiations presumably worked towards making a lasting peace. Abbas demanded that the Israelis release over one-hundred terrorists almost all of which were serving sentences for murder, many of them multiple murders from terrorist acts. Ever since this round of negotiations began, Mahmoud Abbas has been demanding Israel also commit to a renewed building freeze despite having turned down a building freeze as one of his choices and turned it down choosing the terrorist releases in its stead. Abbas’s latest statement is that he intends to remain in negotiations until the last release of the final terrorist murderers has been granted and then he will terminate the negotiation and turn to the United Nations and other international and European organizations and political entities to gain recognition without negotiating with Israel.

Should one look back through the history of the negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians since the initial agreements under the Oslo Accords and it reveals that virtually every concession has been demanded from Israel while the Palestinians have yet to even meet the required concessions ordered by the original Oslo Accords. The Palestinians were to presumably amend their charter to remove their call for the destruction of Israel, a simple request on which they have thus far failed to comply. The repetitive framework of the entire peace process has been the United States demanding of the Israelis some form of concession each time to start negotiations and often then additional concessions to bribe the Palestinians to not walk away from the negotiations while nothing is demanded or even requested from the Palestinians. The repeating pattern has been the Palestinians collecting as many far reaching concessions and offers from the Israelis as they can and when it appeared that the United States was approaching a point where proposing a final agreement was imminent, the Palestinians would leave the negotiations usually in a flurry of accusations and denials refusing to even offer a counter proposal and rejecting to reason. Then when the next session of negotiations are forced, usually soon after the election of a new President in the United States, the Palestinian insist that the Israelis start from their final proposed offer from the previous session and then continue to compromise further from there. This has changed the negotiations from where they stood in 1993 when the Oslo Accords were enacted and it was considered acceptable and expected that Israel would retain all of Jerusalem and Area C while the Palestinians would retain Area A and the negotiations would divide Area B leading to final borders to the place we are now where Israel will be required to forgive land from within the Green Line in order to retain any of their communities in Area C and might be required to surrender East Jerusalem.

So, why have all the compromises and concessions come from the Israeli side and virtually nothing or actually no concessions have come from the Palestinians? The reason is obvious and simple; the Palestinians have agreed to give such concessions only to then renege and then deny they had actually made any promises. Since they have never been pressed and refuse to recognize any pressures and simply refusing all demands and Israel being a democratic nation where any concession voted on by the government becomes law, the world powers have decided that they can get concessions from Israel and not the Palestinians so they surrendered completely on demands on the Palestinians and simply pressure Israel. The result is that Israel has been slowly over twenty years been backed into a corner where they have lost any bargaining position and are now attempting to protect their existence in any continued negotiations. It is this fact that defines why Israel is making one demand on which they will not back away. That singular demand is that the Palestinians recognize that Israel is the home of the Jewish people. Needless to add, the Palestinians immediately made recognizing Israel as the State for the Jewish People a red line that they could never cross. The reason the Palestinians are refusing to give this one concession to the Israelis is because to recognize Israel as Jewish would negate the Palestinian claim of Right of Return of, according to the Palestinians, over five-million refugees and their descendants into Israel with full citizenship and the restoration of their homes from 1948 or modern equivalent. But please do not take my word on this; listen to Chairman Abbas as he states his demands for the Right of Return and refusal to accept Israel. This is a concession that Israel must resist as such an influx would turn Israel into simply another Palestinian State thus permitting that to attain peace would simply be the founding of two Palestinian States, one named Palestine and one named Israel and the end of any Jewish State. This is why Israelis realize they must demand and insist above all else that Israel be recognized as the State of the Jewish People and insist that the Palestinians take care of their own refugees settling them within the new state of Palestine. The one argument that will be used is that there is not sufficient room for the refugees in any future Palestinian State. The truth is that over three quarters of the areas in Judea and Samaria (West Bank) is undeveloped and when considering the open lands in Israel outside of the Negev Desert is comparable in size to the areas available to the Palestinians. The Palestinians though will never make even that compromise as it is part of their societal convictions that they are not required to compromise and the entire world must instead bend to their will. With the generous and uncompromising support from the Europeans and the willingness of the United States to take their side, they are basically correct that they can refuse to comply with any concessions and can expect the rest of the universe to bend to their demands. Should the world ever decide to take a serious approach to forging a real peace with any possibility of permanence, a new approach will need to be attempted where results and compromises are rewarded and intransigence is discouraged and disparaged from the Palestinians and should they walk away as soon as they feel pressured they would need to face international defunding until they are willing to participate in earnest negotiations. Unfortunately, the world appears to be satisfied to simply spin their wheels attempting the same approach repeatedly expecting a different result. That, my friends, is Einstein’s definition of insanity.
