Israelis and Palestinians Each Using Language Their Side Understands

Anybody who wishes to understand the crux of the debate and what each side seeks, treasures, understands and desires most, all one has to do is read the statements and use their own choice of words, stated desires and central positions to get a solid understanding. Both sides have a very consistent message and it is best revealed when they speak to their own populations but can still be discerned from their general public statements spoken when the press is present or filed with the media as part of a released statement. One does not even need to learn either Hebrew of Arabic to understand as both sides have sufficient material which is translated by the various media sources plus if you understand English then you even have access to a plethora of statements from both sides, each with a slant critical of both sides. On the Israeli side there is Haaretz which is extremely critical of the Netanyahu government and especially of Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu, Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman and any of the reputedly Zionist Knesset Ministers. On translating the Palestinian and Arab perspectives there are a number of sources, two of which are Palestinian Media Watch (PMW) and Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI) which translate a vast bulk of Palestinian and Arab media, press releases and transcripts of speeches.

Some of the general tendencies which have been noted boil down to a relatively few basic themes and reiterations of offshoots from these central tenets of each side. Let us start with the Palestinian’s central arguments and points concerning the negotiations and their desired end results. One repeated theme revolves around their claim that no matter what is agreed upon between the two sides, the struggle to liberate all of Palestine from the River to the Sea cannot and will not end until Israel as the state for the Jewish People has been subsumed and the Jews turned into Dhimmis, expelled or killed. This concept is further reinforced when one inspects the maps, textbooks and other material used in their schools and in many of their themes and instructional materials used in educating their children from an early age. One peculiarity which can be discerned from viewing recordings of school children where each child can tell you from what village or city they call home and every single name is of a place within pre-1967 Israel. All of the children apparently came from places such as Tel Aviv, Haifa, Jaffa, Ashkelon and other Israeli cities with none of them coming from Ramallah, Gaza City, Rafah, Bethlehem or any other city from within the disputed territories. These are all signs that the real objective of the Palestinians is not two states living beside each other in security and peace but one state ruled by Palestinian Arabs with the Jews either subjected or removed completely.

Another repetitive pattern is the Palestinian demands that they be given enticements before they will agree to even talk, let alone make peace. Along with these demands for concessions is their obsession with demanding that once the Israelis have agreed to any demand that the demand be then made and enforced as a permanent concession. Whenever such turns out not to be the case, the Palestinians complain and demand that the other previous demands that were met should be still enforced in the next round such that they can win every argument individually and then apply all the separate pieces into one grand surrender on all points. A perfect example of this is the Palestinian demands throughout this current series of talks that Israel must be made to adhere to an imposed building freeze in what are often referred to as settlements. The problem with the Palestinians demand is that when presented with a choice of either terrorist prisoners being released or a building freeze, they chose the terrorist prisoners being release and not the building freeze. They basically started from day one complaining that Israel was planning to build in the areas where the Israelis had previously granted a building freeze almost five years ago and that must be enforced on the Israelis and they must never be permitted to build because they promised to implement a building freeze during those negotiations and the Palestinians insist that any concessions Israel makes must be made into a permanent requirement. This is the basis behind the Palestinian repeated demand that Israel meet all of its obligations. These obligations were concessions relented and granted by the Israelis for a set amount of time often during which negotiations are being held. The Palestinians know this full well but prefer to pretend that they understood the promises to be open ended and thus forever enforceable.

The final point we will discuss of the Palestinians, but not the last in existence by far, is their penchant for violence. This is exemplified by their actions such as their throwing of rocks the size of cinderblocks and even larger at motorists usually aiming for the driver side of the vehicle in hopes of causing a crash. This is at the root of their threats of Intifada and it is a core part of the curriculum in their school system, children’s camps and numerous other integral parts of their society. The approval of violence, especially if it results in dead Israelis, is on full display in the funds spent by the Palestinians in their budgets to terrorists in Israeli prisons and to the families of those terrorists who died while making their attack, often a suicide attack. The Palestinians are currently demanding that their monetary backers make new pledges and send more funding as they are over four-billion dollars in debt and cannot meet their payroll yet they announced an increase in the payments to relatives of terrorists who died as martyrs which will require at a minimum seventy-five-million dollars. You can bet that these payments will be made before they pay their payrolls as one is of far more importance than the other. This also reveals that in Palestinian society those who have died are of greater importance than the living, especially if they died attempting to murder Israelis or Americans.

Israel, on the other hand, has virtually a single minded objective, a final, comprehensive peace that will enable both sides to live with security and benefit from a thriving economy which the two states could share in forming. Israel often times will debate the wisdom of making concessions and more often than not decide to take the risk and grant some concession in the hope that the next set of negotiation will finally produce that longed for peace between the two peoples. Unfortunately, the narrative in Israel has begun to change as many have given up on the hopes that a peace can be attained with the Palestinians. They have listened to the conversations in Ramallah, Gaza, at the Arab League and around the Arab and Muslim worlds and have awoken to the vile truth that they have no partners for peace, only those who through gestures of peace seek to subjugate or even murder the Jews and other Israelis. They have even heard words beyond their belief where even the Arab Muslim population of Israel are cursed if they appear to be willing to live within the Israeli society and are not anxious to join in Jihad or in an Intifada.

The Israelis have mostly reached the point where they are questioning the wisdom of making concession after concession in a seemingly endless progression of ever more dangerous concessions with the last one, the release of over one-hundred terrorists, most with blood on their hands, knowing that most if not all of these terror masters will immediately return to actively murdering Israelis or making plans for others to carry out and murder Israelis. With the current series of futile talks coming crashing down without any actual possibility for making a final peace and the Palestinians demanding heavy concessions to continue the talks with no guarantee of reaching an agreement, some would claim it is more likely to have an agreement of never reaching an agreement as that has been the central message coming from the Palestinians, many Israelis are questioning the wisdom of making unending concessions if there is no potential for gain as a result. They see giving concessions for the privilege of talks but only with talks which are doomed to fail as a waste of energy and dangerous when concession release those who remain a threat to Israeli society and civilians. It has reached the point where Israelis are asking; where are the reciprocal concessions and when will we ever see something in return? The Israelis talk of peace and agreements while the Palestinians talk of Intifada and martyrdom, which side sounds like they desire to live in peace to you?

Prisoner Release to Appease Palestinians Actually Disgraceful Threat to Israelis

Much of the information being publicized by all parties about the resumption of the Palestinian-Israeli Peace Process is confusing, contradictory, highly politicized plus causing great amount of agonized and vehement confrontations between the Israeli public and Prime Minister Netanyahu and his inner cabinet supporters. The many fronts of contention are almost too many to comprehend but the main points of controversy are over the Palestinian claim that the invitation to the talks lists agreement on using the 1949 Armistice Lines as basic definition for borders, the Palestinian claim that the start of negotiation will force an Israeli building freeze and worst of all, the hundred plus Palestinians who are to be released as a concessionary gift to Mahmoud Abbas just for the privilege of having him agree to attend talks at all. If one were to look for any bright side of this situation for the Israeli public it would have to be that at least there has not been any mention of the so-called Palestinian right of return. We can probably bet that that will remain as the final demand that will be used in order to force the Israelis to terminate any possibility for an agreement as they cannot accept such a demand and remain the Jewish State therefore Abbas can exit the negotiations and still claim he was willing to make peace if only the Israelis would have granted his one last insignificant point. Of course we all know that the right of return is anything but an insignificant point as it would mean the death knell of Israel as the Jewish State, but that will not prevent much of the world’s mainstream media from quoting Abbas and giving their whole-hearted support to the claim that Israel was being intransigent. Then everybody can return to holding their Naqba Day celebrations; their BDS boycotts, disengagements and sanctions; their Israel Apartheid Day celebrations, the United Nations annual November 29th celebrations for International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People; their Friday demonstrations taunting IDF checkpoints, Israeli towns in Judea and Samaria, Separation Fence protests; and very likely start the Third Intifada with an all-out assault on Jews north to south from Eilat to the Golan Heights and east to west from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea. And we can then expect to read all about the abuses Israel will commit when they have to defend their citizens from the Third Intifada onslaught after duly showing restraint well beyond any other nation’s breaking-point on civil unrest. Those of us who follow the facts and not the popular opinions from the United Nations, the mainstream media, and the perpetual demonstrators who protest anything which stands for Western values or based on the Judeo-Christian principles labeling them as Capitalist Oppressors, Colonialist Powers, Xenophobic Zealots, Proponents of Islamophobia or simply Enslavers and Exploiters of Minorities and People of Color. But what are the actual provisions that are drawing such ire from many Israelis?

The best way to address the situation is to take each contentious issue one at a time. First off, let’s look into the issue of using the 1949 Armistice Lines, also called the 1967 Lines, as the base border from which small alterations will be allowed providing that both sides agree to the exchanges proposed. The first recognition has to be that this is claimed as a given starting point thus far only by Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas while neither, as Abbas claims, United States Secretary of State John Kerry or Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu have supported this position. Factually, Prime Minister Netanyahu has directly denied that this was part of the agreement while there has yet to be any comment from Secretary Kerry. A recent poll of Israelis revealed that over eighty-five percent would vote against ratifying any peace agreement which utilized the 1949 Armistice Lines as the basis for the border between Israel and the Palestinian State. The problem with these borders is that weather permitting one can see all of the middle section of Israel all the way to the Mediterranean Sea which places seventy percent of Israel’s population, industry and vital infrastructure within range of the most rudimentary of rockets and permits those launching said rockets to have spotter, or even observe themselves, able to see the actual impact as it happens and thus makes adjusting fire both much easier and far more accurate. These borders place Tel Aviv, Haifa, Netanya, Ashod, Ashkelon, Beersheba, and among the others, especially Jerusalem all within direct line of sight from the top of the Judean Hills. This is merely the logistical argument against permitting such borders to be considered but as long as Benyamin Netanyahu remains true to his word and allows for the people of Israel to approve or negate any agreement before it is signed and validated, then such borders have little to absolutely no possibility of being accepted by the people of Israel. So, the referendum will preserve Israel from such a fool’s fate even should Prime Minister Netanyahu agree to show such an agreement to the people.

But what about the building freeze? The easy out of such rumors would be to simply quote Bibi’s pronouncement that he plans to approve over one-thousand tenders for new housing in east Jerusalem and Judea and Samaria. Of course we all know by this he means only in Jerusalem and the approved main block of communities and not those wild outposts such as Yitzhar, Itamar, Tapuach or the other ones out in the extremities, as they wish them to be considered. What ever happened to the original idea under United Nations Security Council Resolution 242 and allowing Israel to annex sufficient lands to provide her with defendable borders? As I recall those dizzying days in June, July, and on through till the end of November when finally on November 22 came the edict that Israel should return the majority or at least a significant amount of the lands gained in defending against the war brought on by the massing of troops from Egypt and Syria on her border, the closing of the Straights of Tiran, a casus belli in its own rights, and the entering the war by Jordan a couple of hours after the start on the advice from Egypt’s Gamal Abdel Nasser reporting to Jordan’s King Hussein that they were making advances on the Israelis and that the planes picked up on Jordanian radar were flights of Egyptian planes heading to destroy Israeli targets. The truth was the Egyptian and Syrians were retreating on all fronts and the radar images were returning Israel aircraft on their way home after decimating Egypt’s air power. End result was Israel gained the Sinai, Golan Heights and West Bank and has already returned over ninety percent of these to Arab hands making whatever is left, namely the Golan Heights, Judea and Samaria legally retainable by Israel and that is the real international law. But any building freeze could be employed even while approving new tenders for additional housing as a building freeze is not about approving plans; it is about actual breaking ground and erecting buildings. As for whether Prime Minister Netanyahu will put in a fix that denies actually building while simply going through the motions in order to appear to be building and not enforcing a freeze, well, we will have to wait and see. That would be a question best put to the different ministers and bureaucrats who control the actual building and licensing thus doing actual research to find such an answer. We should know for sure one way or the other within a couple of weeks simply by observing if any further building is still being erected or if all projects come to a halt.

Now for the unfortunate matter of releasing prisoners which was approved by the Prime Minister’s hand-picked Inner Cabinet who were chosen for their inability to refuse the Prime Minister anything he desires. Say what you like about Bibi, he does know how to enforce his own decisions and do so with the appearance of a greater agreement from the government even if one does not exist. We will never know whether or not the entire Knesset would have allowed the prisoner release to go forward or would have stood on principle and prevented such lunacy. If there was a valid reason for permitting these terrorist masters, some of the worst of the worst, to be freed, it would have to be proven that by committing this act there were believable guarantees that the coming negotiations would produce a final end and enforceable and lasting peace between Israel and the Palestinians and all the rest of the Arab League nations. That does not appear to be what was promised in this case. What it appears was promised for releasing over one hundred terror planners, coordinators, trainers, bomb-makers and other nefarious and destructive individuals is that Mahmoud Abbas will allow negotiations to be carried out with the Israelis and allow such negotiations to continue for as long as Israel is being successfully squeezed into making more sacrifices and concessions and once Mahmoud Abbas believes he has gotten everything he will be able to pry loose without having to promise anything beyond worlds and false promises not intended to be kept, then he will walk away from the negotiations complaining of Israeli intransigence and hold a press conference where he will berate Israel for being immovable and unwilling to make the necessary sacrifices for peace and refusing to even consider the most basic and necessary compromises for peace. He will complain how he had made serious, deep reaching and heart wrenching sacrifices and offered the Israelis an opportunity to reach a fair and decent peace and he was rebuffed and turned away. The mainstream press in Europe, the United States, the Arab and Muslim worlds and nearly everywhere else even to include Haaretz and other Israeli news sources will repeat verbatim Abbas’s complaints and fabrications and then after a week of constant berating of Israel over the failure of the talks to reach a peace agreement, then they will interview Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu asking him why it was that he refused to give the Palestinians even the slightest requests and why was it that Israel had again squandered another golden opportunity to meet Abbas, who has done so much and sacrificed so completely and desires nothing more than making a good and solid peace, and take the necessary steps to assure that peace was accomplished. This may not be what was advertised, but it is the coming result.

Please Prime Minister Netanyahu, before even going to the first meeting hold a press conference and present your plan of what an equal and fair peace would look like. Spell out exactly what you are prepared to sacrifice in order to attain peace. Spell out in the most minute details exactly what you desire from the Palestinians and what you are willing to give them in exchange for their cooperation to make a final and just peace. For once get out in front of the propaganda that Abbas will try to spread once he has carved out his most desirous concessions from the coming negotiations. Tell the world up front what are the explicit aims, desires, wants and requirements Israel places on the coming negotiations. Stop with the Israel is ready to make peace song and dance you produce in almost every interview over the peace process. State boldly, explicitly and unapologetically Israeli expectations, requirements and desires in concrete and measurable absolutes such that there are no doubts as to where Israel stands and what Israel expects. The world knows exactly what Abbas keeps telling them that Israel refuses to meet him in making peace but nobody has ever explained to the world exactly what defines acceptable for Israel when compromises are required to make peace. No more general terminology and political maneuvers. Just spell out exactly where you and thus Israel stands and is willing to accept, willing to sacrifice, and insistent on receiving and then simply stand your ground. Yes, the United States is going to try and assist Mahmoud Abbas in his attempts to rake every last ounce of flesh off the body that is Israel. Stand up to them and tell Secretary Kerry and President Obama that you will not bend before their demands and pressures as you are their equal if not their better. Tell the United States spokesperson that you are not going to bend before their pressures and that if they believe they have the better of Israel because they can withhold American aid, then tell them that Israel survived very well without their aid for the first twenty years and three wars and that the main reason that the United States started to give Israel military aid was in order to prevent Israel from manufacturing their own weapons systems which would have competed very successfully against American made weapons on the international markets. And if they decide to call your presumed bluff, then I guess Israel will simply have to start to sell their own military products on the world stage and it is highly probable that Israeli weapons systems will outsell all competitors the same as Israeli UAVs (Unmanned Arial Vehicles) are preferred over everybody else’s products. Remember, the United States original offer to Israel was they would provide Israel with F-15 and F-16 fighter jets at a highly reduced and favorable price even including Israeli modifications when requested as long as Israel stopped their work on the Lavi 4th generation fighter jet. Perhaps a little nudge and a reminder will make your position more tenable and much more clear to Secretary Kerry and all bets are that it would be made very clear by United States Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel along with the designers and board members of Boeing, McDonald Douglas, Raytheon, General Electric and Grumman as they probably would prefer to forgo the competition. Try taking the bull by the horns and proudly present the Israeli side and stand by them in strength and you might just reap some surprising results Mr. Prime Minister.

One final footnote, these are the names and results of the Prime Minister’s Cabinet voting on approving the release of the one-hundred-four of the most notorious and dastardly terrorist prisoners ever released at one time, even compared to those released in order to attains freedom for Gilad Shalit. Perhaps this could have been made less painful but expecting the United States to release Jonathan Pollard as compensation for what Israel has agreed to authorize mostly under pressure from the United States may have been expecting too much humanity from the administration of President Obama. Voting in favor with Prime Minister Netanyahu were Defense Minister Moshe Yaalon, Minister of Interior Gideon Saar, Minister of Public Security Yitzhak Aharonovich, Minister for Strategic Affairs Yuval Steinitz, and Aliyah Minister Sofa Landver (Likud / Yisrael Beytenu); Finance Minister Yair Lapid, Education Minister Shai Piron, Health Minister Yael German, Science Minister Yaakov Perry and Welfare Minister Meir Cohen, (Yesh Atid); as well as Justice Minister Tzipi Livni, and Environment Minister Amir Peretz (Hatnua). Voting against the prisoner release were Transport Minister Yisrael Katz, Communications Minister Gilad Erdan, Tourism Minister Uzi Landau, and Agriculture Minister Yair Shamir, all (Likud / Yisrael Beytenu); as well as Economics Minister Naftaliu Bennett, Housing Minister Uri Ariel and Minister for Pensioners Uri Orbach, (Bayit Yehudi). And taking the route of simply staying on the sidelines by not casting their vote yea or nay were Energy Minister Silvan Shalom and Culture Minister Limor Livnat, both of Likud / Yisrael Beytenu.

Tell Netanyahu and the World There Must be Limits

United States Secretary of State John Kerry is doing everything without regards for whether his efforts are sane, thought through, or have potentially disastrous consequences all in order to fulfill the task of forcing a peace between Israel and the Palestinians no matter the cost. All of this is in order to grant his boss, President Barack Obama, the privilege of wearing the title of the mortal human who made the impossible peace and succeeded where all before him had failed. So, all of these efforts are in the name of peace, what could possibly make this something undesirable? Well, let’s simply go through what will occur all in the name of peace and what the results will be when the entire farce concludes. We can cover the results in one word, nothing; there will be no peace in the end. The final picture should be pictured on the front page of every paper in the world with a proper subtitle. They should all show Mahmoud Abbas walking away from the table leaving an astonished looking Secretary Kerry, a disgusted looking Netanyahu and the world press about to try to find out exactly how Israel failed to sacrifice sufficiently to allow for peace. There will be no mention that when the last offer of virtually complete Israeli surrender of almost every single demand from the Palestinians before Abbas walked out without even bothering to make a counter offer because he cannot risk that Israel would accept that offer and he is fully aware that should he sign a peace treaty with Israel he will pay the same price as did Egyptian President Anwar Sadat who was assassinated because he willingly made peace with Israel.

So, what can possibly be so terrible that might result from the machinations which soon will proceed? Secretary Kerry has already begun to dance the same peace dance which has become expected from whoever is tasked with forcing pointless negotiations. The reason there have not been negotiations is because Palestinian President and Chairman of the Palestinian Authority and of Fatah Mahmoud Abbas demands that Israel meet a litany of preconditions before any negotiations can begin. Abbas has been demanding that Israel release all the terrorist prisoners currently serving life sentences who were sentenced before 1993 and the beginning of the Oslo Accords, agree that the negotiations of borders begin with the 1949 Armistice Lines as the basis thus demanding Israel begin negotiations by returning every inch of the still disputed territories, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu supply and have approved a map of what lands will make up the Palestinian State, Israel freeze all building on any of the disputed lands, the Palestinians be granted open borders and import rights in order to import any weapons they feel are necessary and Israel accept the “Right of Return” which would require the influx of five million plus Palestinian Arab refugees into the lands Israel will be permitted to retain and grant them citizenship. The reason that even should Israel meet every one of these demands with the possible exception of accepting the refugees is insufficient to satisfy Mahmoud Abbas is because the sole intent of all his efforts is the complete and total eradication of the Jewish State which is the design behind the “Right of Return” demand for the five million plus refugees. This is not the disagreement over territory or anything else; it is a disagreement over which people will be allowed to live in the entirety of the area between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea. Final proof of this is the demand that Mahmoud Abbas has made consistently that when he gets his Palestinian State that absolutely no Jew will be allowed to reside, visit or, as he words this, allowed to pollute and taint Palestinian lands with their presence.

What will play out between now and Abbas walking away presumably in disgust over Israeli refusal to sacrifice sufficiently to allow peace? We will hear from Secretary Kerry how Mahmoud Abbas is ready to talk peace and has agreed to forgo his preconditions. What will be glossed over is that Secretary Kerry has assured Abbas in exchange for his giving up his preconditions that Kerry will force Israel and Prime Minister Netanyahu to agree to a complete building freeze in all contested lands for the duration of the peace process, force Israel to release most if not all of the terrorist prisoners from before the Oslo Accords were initiated, have Israeli agreement to use the 1949 Armistice Lines as the starting point for border negotiations, have Israel allow greater range of importation for the Palestinian Authority, and possibly even demand of Israel some partial admittance of Palestinian Refugees into Israel with full citizenship. Kerry might actually demand that Abbas not receive a map for his approval showing the borders of a proposed Palestinian State before the negotiations begin. Such deep and serious sacrifice will be described as Abbas making serious concession towards peace and it remains to be seen whether Netanyahu is equally serious. This has been the exact form every negotiation has taken since the 1993 beginning of the Oslo Accords through numerous Israeli Prime Ministers and both Yasser Arafat and Mahmoud Abbas, two of the original members at the founding of the PLO which eventually became recognized as the major part of the Palestinian Authority.

These Israeli sacrifices have already begun and the overt demands are being played out already. Israel has agreed to have an unofficial building freeze throughout Judea and Samaria but Abbas is demanding that Kerry force Netanyahu to announce he has put a building freeze in place. The building freeze actually has nothing to do with freezing construction; it has to do with forcing Netanyahu’s coalition to collapse and force new elections in the hope of getting a new Israeli Prime Minister who would be more pliable and weaker than Netanyahu. This has also been a desire of President Obama much as it was of President Bill Clinton who sent Democrat operatives to assist Netanyahu’s opponent in the Israeli election in the late 1990s. Netanyahu has been allowing mention of a possible likelihood that there will be a terrorist prisoner release of long-time prisoners serving life sentences in order to make facilitating renewed peace talks by Secretary Kerry. It has always amazed me that as long as these actions of complete surrender are always made in order to make the task of reinitiating the peace process much easier for whatever American official has been given the thankless and impossible responsibility of forcing peace talks which everybody knows ahead of time are useless and will produce only one thing, concessions from the Israelis to the Palestinians. When Oslo Accord negotiations were first initiated the discussion was how to divide the lands of Judea and Samaria between Israel and the to be established Palestinian State. The initial theory was that Israel would retain all of Area C while the Palestinians were to receive Area A and it was thought that Israel would retain control over Area B for security but the Palestinians would also live in these lands alongside the Israelis with each being citizens of their respective nation and societies. From that beginning the starting point has slowly been conceded away to there is now talk which would have been unimaginable just a decade ago that the Palestinians will retain every inch of the lands lost by Jordan in the Six Day War including half of Jerusalem including all of the Old City and Temple Mount which would make virtually every single Jewish Holy Site inaccessible to all Jews worldwide as they would be within the Palestinian State.

You may ask what Jewish Holy Sites am I referring to that would be placed beyond the reach of Jews because they will be part of the Palestinian State. Certainly the Biblical Holy Sites would all be in Israel because we have been told countless times that the Jews never lived in the areas claimed by the Palestinians. Oh, are you in for a surprise. Here is an abbreviated list of Jewish Holy Sites which are in the areas claimed by the Palestinians. The Cave of the Patriarchs which is the burial cave for Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Sarah, Rebecca, and Leah is located outside of Hevron. The Tomb of Joseph whose bones were carried by Moses back from Egypt and carried into the Promised Land and reburied by the Hebrews, the early Jews, within the lands that G0d had Promised them in the Bible within the city of Shechem. Tomb of Rachel located just north of Jerusalem on the road between Shechem and Hevron just outside of Bethlehem. The entirety of the Mount of Olives and the Cemetery located there in which an almost endless number of famous Jews from Biblical times through to the modern age where some of Israel’s Prime Ministers have been laid to rest. The entirety of the Old City of Jerusalem, the Temple Mount which is the holiest of all places on Earth to Jews, the Western Wall, Solomon’s Stables, the City of David, David’s Castle and numerous Synagogues and other important Biblical and ancient places spanning all of human history. The City of Jericho is also within the areas claimed by the Palestinians and contains some Synagogues which are over two thousand years old and some a little less ancient. Much of the Sea of Galilee would also be placed beyond the reach of Jews along with numerous cities right out of the bible including Tiberius, Shechem, Hevron, Bethlehem, all of Old City Jerusalem which cannot be mentioned enough and even more. Reading the Old Testament almost all of the major stories related would be located in the West Bank as the heart of ancient Israel was the Judean Hills. So, in addition of surrendering the Judean Hills allowing all of central Israel to come within range of the same rockets launched currently from Gaza, it also gifts most of Jewish and Ancient Israel historic and storied locations beyond the reach of the Jewish People. The placing these precious places which hold the majority of Jewish history beyond the reach of Jews everywhere is the largest of sins that even surpasses the danger of the rockets because one cannot take away Jewish history and expect the Jewish People to remember their heritage.
