Look Back and Forward to Coming Incitements for War

Hamas has sent out hints that they are starting their escalation which they expect will instigate a war in Gaza and a separate and more important war in the compliant Western Media. Similar to how Ben Rhodes used the White House press corps to sell a completely bogus story of how the negotiations and change in Iranian Presidency was moving along the Iran Nuclear Deal, a deal whose conditions had already been agreed upon by the end of 2012, Hamas will use the international media stationed in Gaza, Tel Aviv and Jerusalem to sell their story of the horrors of war Israel is inflicting on the people of Gaza without any reason. Mark this week as the start and watch as everything develops slowly ramping until Israel is forced to strike and then the media wakes and up to that date nobody had noted the rockets as none reached them in Tel Aviv or Jerusalem. The only aggression the media, especially the European media and the New York Times ever note is when Israel strikes, which they initially claim was always unprovoked except for the little terror act or other instigating act mentioned in paragraph three or four but managed as inconsequential. The media is where Hamas can expect assistance and blaming Israel leading page one above the fold with five line tall headlines condemning Israel once again casting Hamas sympathetically as the victim who only fired a few missiles the day before. The thousand or so missiles fired over the four to six weeks prior, well, maybe they will mention that as the article is continued in Sections C page 12 or somewhere equally well hidden. They do not want to paint the terrorists too harshly because then their reporters and photographers will be cast out from Gaza and be unable to get those interviews and photographs of the destroyed house with the baby dolls sitting centered in the rubble without a speck of dust all pristine and untouched (see below). Apparently there are no photographers stationed in Israel as finding any pictures of the rocket holes in Israelis homes and even the reporters appear allergic to Sderot as they might be forced to face reality.

Sderot is a unique town with cement shelters scattered throughout the town and at each end of playgrounds as the children only have fifteen seconds or less to reach safety when the Code Red sirens sound signifying rocket launch from Gaza. Sderot was having ten to twenty and more alarms a day for over a week before Israel finally struck Hamas in the last war. If you are doubting, shocked or surprised by this you are in good company as it was barely if ever mentioned. Hamas had launched over a thousand rockets into Israel the week before Israel attacked. Still, most new services did not cover anything until Israel launched attacks. Each time Israel responded with tank fire or an air strike the news would read Israeli strikes on Gaza destroy house and tool shed or some similar reference such as training area or building neighboring hospital or school. Then there will be the quotes of residents of Gaza residing near strike target. They were shocked awake by explosions or interrupted their normally peaceful dinner meal. Then there will be the quote of several different denunciations of the Israeli strike by several NGOs, Gaza officials (read Hamas officers), and a number of European sources. There will be a recap of the Israeli strikes over the previous days or weeks and then, in paragraph four or later will come the other shoe dropping and we find out that several rockets landed in Israel. It will be stressed that they did no damage nor hurt anybody. There will be no sympathetic interviews with the traumatized Israeli children in Sderot where the Israeli government has set up a fully staffed medical facility to council and assist the children and the adults who are suffering just as the Gazans suffer from these attacks. Both sides are suffering but only one side has actual terrorists running their government and holds no elections giving the people an opportunity to choose something other than constant warfare. There are two sides where the people are caught in an ever escalating violence and the sounds of explosions day and night with children fearing going to school or outside to play. There are two societies receiving injuries not necessarily visible at first glance.

Seldom are the Israelis suffering from the incessant fighting given their opportunity to tell their story. The media story in much of the world overlooks the Israeli pain, the Israeli suffering, the Israeli children traumatized as there is little sympathy and after all the Israeli side rebuilds the homes struck by rockets and in Gaza the homes are not being replaced. Have they mentioned that Israel had been permitting tons of cement to be trucked into Gaza? You likely read recently that Israel is no longer allowing shipments of cement into Gaza but likely not the reason why. Israel had to end their generosity as Hamas was using ninety percent of the cement to build attack tunnels into Israel reaching under the border as well as bunkers and launch points for their rockets to protect them from Israel airstrikes. The report that Israel had ended allowing cement into Gaza does not tell the entire story as Israel had allowed tons of cement into Gaza and by some estimates sufficient to have rebuilt over half of the destroyed homes and businesses. Also with the report that Israel stopped allowing cement into Gaza was another report that over three-quarters of the homes in Gaza are still not been rebuilt. So the homes are not rebuilt or even a decent start at rebuilding them and Israel stopped allowing cement in. Israel must be really cruel and cold hearted, or really is fearful of what has already been accomplished with the vast majority of the tons of cement already allowed in over the past year plus in a response to pleading by the United Nations, European Union and the rest of the oh so civilized world.

Hamas has taken definitive credit for yesterday’s terror attack on the Sarona Market in Tel Aviv. This comes almost two weeks after Hamas promised to reinstitute terror bombings and shootings and expressly threatened Tel Aviv as proof that nowhere in Israel would be spared their violence. There were four people murdered and at least sixteen wounded. The murdered were 41-year-old Ido Ben-Ari of Ramat Gan; Ilana Naveh, 39, of Tel Aviv; Ben Gurion University professor Michael Feige, 58; and 32-year-old Mila Mishaev of Rishon Letzion. Ido Ben-Ari’s wife was with him and is currently hospitalized in moderate condition after suffering gunshot wounds. He was a veteran of the IDF elite Sayeret Matkal unit. Ilana Naveh was a mother with four children and was reportedly murdered celebrating her 40th birthday. Michael Feige was a father to three children and worked as a prominent professor at Ben Gurion University. Mila Mishaev was engaged to be married, and according to reports managed to call her boyfriend immediately after she was shot multiple times. She had been waiting for him at the restaurant when the gunmen opened fire. The dearly lost are pictured below.

Videos below give a small feel for the events but there really is no way we can express in any manner the horror of the event nor the horrors the friends, families and most of all the children who will wonder why they were made to suffer such a loss and will age before their time learning to live without a parent. The two terrorist shooters were cousins Khalid and Muhammad Musa Mehamara. Their family has a previous connection with terrorism, not as unusual as one might think. Their uncle Taleb Mehamara was a member of a terror cell that in 2002 targeted Israelis in southern Judea, killing four in that shooting attack as well. He was a member of the Fatah Tanzim terror organization and was tried, convicted and is serving currently in an Israeli prison. The two cousins had infiltrated Israel illegally from their small town of Yatta just outside Hevron. Several other terror groups, whose names will not be given the privilege of publicity here, praised the attack. Israeli Security Services has stated that they believe the two had been inside Israel for about a month before perpetrating their attack. The Security Agencies will be checking into what assistance and from whom the terrorists received said assistance during the lead-up to the attacks. One can only hope they can completely peel the onion and everyone who had any information and did not speak up are made to face charges as accomplices to this abhorrent crime. As a reaction to the attack as well as not taking any unnecessary chances, Israel has cancelled two-hundred-four work visas for members of the terrorists’ extended families and rescinded approximately eighty-three-thousand entry permits given to residents of Judea and Samaria for Ramadan. Now we will just have to wait and see how long before the world condemns Israeli reaction of rescinding the thousands of entry permits for Ramadan as a form of collective punishment.

The reality of this terror attack may be more horrific than this slaughter in a crowded market; this could be exactly what Hamas promised, the start to a very hot summer. There have been a number of media reports which have, despite Hamas taking credit, referred to this as a shooting. It took place in Israel therefore it cannot be terror. Either it was just a crime or Israel deserved it or whatever reasoning that can be twisted and warped to justify or excuse the attack such that it is not terror. You have to understand, terror happens in Madrid, in Paris, in London, in Brussels, New York or Boston, not Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Hevron or anywhere which is Israel. Terror happens even in Pakistan, Iraq, Turkey, Egypt, even Libya and Syria, just not Israel. When rockets start trickling over the Gaza border into Israel it will be scoffed at and ignored as just a rocket or two or three then four a week. When it becomes a half-dozen it will be a minor story which might make page A-35 on a slow news day otherwise not at all. A dozen rockets a week, well, well, that is not even two a day, no story, call us when there are more than three each day. A few more weeks and at five a day the excuse is they haven’t hit anything of note, why are you complaining, tell us when it gets bad. Finally one larger rocket heads for Tel Aviv where the reporters sit on the beach sipping their drinks. They hear a missile launch followed by everybody pointing in the sky where one bright orange light streaks towards a white streak and then a flash and a rumble seconds later rolls across the ground. Iron Dome has just saved Tel Aviv and the reporters have a story about the Israeli missile launch that blew up harmlessly in the skies over Tel Aviv. Then nothing more is reported as the rockets are flying over the border at a half dozen a day. When they reach a dozen and still the reports are about the Israel airstrike which caused further damage to an already largely destroyed Gaza, they further stress Israel is still not letting cement to be delivered. Eventually one would think with thirty or forty rockets a day but the news talks about Israel launched four Iron Dome missiles which intercepted something harmlessly overhead. When the eventual and unavoidable Israeli letting loose the dogs of war and going in with tanks and troops, then there will be reports about the rockets mentioned in the story, somewhere in the fourth or fifth paragraph after ample mention of the Israeli offensive. Sure, they will tell how the rockets were the initiating cause but people tend to believe the order they are mentioned. That order means it is all Israel’s fault as their tanks entered before the rockets were mentioned in the article so that is how it happened, the tanks went in and then the rockets were fired, right? So the story goes and again the news gets twisted and the European elites slap each other on the backs for another job well done.

World Enters Save Hamas from Israeli Annihilation Mode

This is the scenario that many have been fearing would come to be during President Obama’s time in the White House. Mind you, George W. Bush was no better and there really has not been a United States President which understood the situation in which Israel exists nor appreciated the frailty and vulnerability of the Israeli position. This lack of understanding was framed perfectly when George W. Bush visited Israel the first time while he was governor of Texas and when given a sky high look at Israel in an IDF helicopter responded to the commentary by the IDF General who pointed out that they had just flown over the narrow section of Israel which before the Six Day War, Israel was a mere nine miles wide, “In Texas, some of our driveways are longer than that.” In every war which Israel had defended her right to exist, regardless the enemy or how many nations and fronts Israel was forced to fight, as soon as Israel had gained the upper hand or appeared poised to make and solidify actual gains and make changes necessary for Israeli existence, the world enters a mode to save Israel’s enemies from reaping the destruction their aggressive attacks had brought upon them. After the Israeli responses to belligerent and hostile actions and stated threat of annihilation and of being “driven into the sea” in the June 1967 Six Day War and the October 1973 Yom Kippur War when Israel had turned the tide of battle and went on the offensive and was approaching Cairo as she was in 1973 or preparing to cross the Suez Canal as was the case in 1967 or driving on Damascus as was the case in both wars; then the world including the United States demanded and threatened all forms of retributions should Israel not heed the demands for them to cease winning and retreat from the line of battle and surrender lands and critical areas gained at great cost. After the Six Day War the United Nations issued Security Council Resolution 242 which insisted that despite being the defending nation and having responded to numerous casus-belli and legally having gained territory which under international law Israel was entitled to retain, Israel was tasked to return lands from amongst those she had gained in exchange for peace. In other words, Israel was made to sue for peace by offering the defeated aggressor nations land begging them to grant her peace. In any similar situation with the nation turning the tables and gaining territory from a defensive war that nation would be permitted to retain those lands and even evict the citizens of the defeated nation from those lands. This was definitely the case after World War II where sections of previous German territory were ceded to France and Poland as a form of retribution for damages and hardships caused by the war. In that same war the Soviet Union retained iron fisted control over virtually all of Eastern Europe all the way to the fall of the Soviet Union. The demand that Israel return portions but not necessarily all of the land after the Six Day War has been slowly redefined with copious amounts of assistance from Arab propaganda to the point where Israel is now facing demands that she surrender every inch of lands gained and who knows what else in the future.

Now Israel is poised to deal Hamas a serious, if not fatal, blow and destroy much of their terrorist infrastructure including their rocket factories, smuggling tunnels and the tunnels they plan to utilize for abducting Israeli soldiers or civilians; the world is starting their howling for the Israelis to stop and end the horrors. You might ask what horrors. Well, the horrors that the world has witnessed by watching the YouTube and seeing the videos showing the massive destructions resulting from the Israeli assaults. Just to assist your knowledge about how one need be careful when believing these deceptive videos, here is a link to the BBC commentary about them which even gives examples showing their current use to claim this was taken in Gaza just this past day or so and then revealing their actual origins which include pictures from the Syrian civil war and from bombings in Iraq by al-Qaeda and others. Despite the BBC debunking, these pictures of horrific violence and damages will be touted even in government and NGO offices and used to claim that Israel is committing borderline utter and total destruction. The Security Council has already called for a ceasefire urging Israel and Hamas to respect “international humanitarian laws” and stop the loss of life. The Council expressed “serious concern” over the “protection and welfare of civilians on both sides which is more than they said during the kidnapping and three week search for the Israeli teens and the accompanying steadily increased rocket and mortar firings into Israeli civilian populations from within densely populated regions of Gaza including adjacent to schools, hospitals, mosques and within market places. President Obama has insisted from the very first day that Israel cease their hostilities and allow him to use his office and influence to arrange a ceasefire. Apparently Israel has wisely ignored his demands for whatever reasons. Our belief is they have seen the results of President Obama when negotiating and figured they would get a better deal if they could just get President Obama to represent Hamas in any peace talks. Russian President Putin took some time off from reconstituting the new Russian hegemony to call Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and demand he heed the warnings and cease all belligerence against Hamas and the other Palestinian organizations, also known as terrorist groups, immediately of face harsh and difficult times as the entire world would turn against Israel. Also calling to give their backing for Israel to be a wet jellyfish and just go completely soft and cease their efforts to destroy Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Palestinian Revolutionary Council (PRC), al-Qaeda in Gaza, ISIS, People for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) and the other lesser known terrorist entities and make whatever sacrifices which may be necessary to make peace were British Prime Minister Cameron, French President Hollande and German Chancellor Merkel. Then there are the foreign and domestic leftist NGOs who always condemn Israel first, last and foremost. The reason these cries of pity and have mercy for mercy’s sake are not being as effective and mostly ignored is because this time the game has changed and changed drastically.

The new game has nothing to do with the weapons available to Hamas, Islamic Jihad and the rest as they have had these various weapons for some time now. The difference is that now Hamas and the rest are using these longer ranged rockets to strike at the heart of Israel including Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Haifa, and the central plains. Israeli society cannot survive if Hamas is allowed to indiscriminately fire rockets even at a rate of once or twice a week into these areas. The targets are no longer just Sderot and some kibbutzim, the targets now are the heart of Israel and include many powerful and influential people. Is this a horrible condemnation on Israel that she would accept Hamas et al to target Sderot which is a fairly small and moderately priced community along with the few kibbutzim to absorb rockets and mortars from out of Gaza but as soon as North Tel Aviv, and there will be those who will claim this is the real and actual reason for the Israeli’s heavy response, where many wealthy, connected, and financially and societally influential citizens then Israel is willing to go out and defend the people. Whatever the reason for some of the more jaded people, it really is the fact that this threatens the entirety of Israeli economic areas and covers close to eighty percent of Israel with Hamas and Islamic Jihad striking close to Haifa in the north and easily reaching Jerusalem in the east and even overshooting Jerusalem last night and striking Bethlehem which is Palestinian Authority governed areas. That is what makes these situations different and posing threats unknown until these attacks.

In defense of Israel only responding when the center of the nations was threatened, Israel has gone into Gaza twice before when only Sderot and the kibbutzim were attacked, so Israel would and did respond to protect these areas as well. The difference is Israel realizes that this time she must not leave Hamas in a position to simply rearm and attempt to destroy Israel again. What the world refuses to realize is that the Palestinians do not particularly desire to defeat Israel to take her land; they simply want to destroy Israel and commit to a genocidal murdering of the Jews residing in Israel. When you realize that this is the end game desired by the leaders and members of Hamas, Islamic Jihad, and despite protestations to the difference, also the desired goal for the Palestinian Authority and Mahmoud Abbas, then you can see why they attack even knowing they cannot defeat Israel and risk bringing down an unholy assault unseen in modern times. This is also how Iran might use their nuclear weapon, in an effort to destroy Israel, not conquer it or liberate the area for the downtrodden Palestinians, just wanton destruction of the Jewish State so that they can claim to be the true leaders of Islam. It is because Hamas and Islamic Jihad have raised the stakes to threatening the end of Israel that Prime Minister Netanyahu must ignore the demands from around the world and finish this assault and completely devastate Hamas, Islamic Jihad and every single other terrorist groups or individual and leave the remaining Palestinians sufficiently fearful that they use stories about the summer of 2014 and how death struck those who dared defy Israel’s right to exist and how whenever they hear the deep-throated growls of military jets to remember that they bring with them the threat of death incarnate and the children learn to fear the sounds of those jets and the sounds of battle tanks rolling towards their town and never again give any thought to destroying Israel even if it is simply from abhorrent fears. Instead of filling the hearts of those in Gaza, the base of support for Hamas, Islamic Jihad et al, Israel continues to provide over seven tons, often more than twelve tons of food, medical supplies and even building supplies which are repurposed from building homes, hospitals, schools and water treatment plants to making rockets and digging smuggling tunnels and tunnels into Israel for sneak attacks and to abduct soldiers or civilians much like they abducted Gilad Shalit. What is even more perplexing is Israel has continued to provide supplies of water, electrical energy and fuels for the Gaza electrical generation unit in order to make the difficulty of the conflict less intrusive and striking panic by attempting to retain some degree of normalcy for the presumed innocent Palestinians. Does anyone for one minute think such actions would be taking place at all if the tables were turned and Israel was depending on Gaza, Egypt, Lebanon, Syria or anywhere else for her power and food needs? Of course not, that would be unthinkable.

Gaza Rocket Terror War Resumes

Islamic Jihad claimed responsibility for the sixty or so rockets out of almost ninety launched from within Gaza City that fell on southern Israel. As the rockets slowly abated came the expected demands from the United Nations and other usual suspects demanding that both sides show restraint and calling for an end to hostilities. I hope the world will not be excessively put out as Israel chose to respond by striking close to thirty targets which were known to be terror weapons storage or rocket manufacturing shops owned mostly by Islamic Jihad but also including some Hamas targets as they are responsible for any actions originating within Gaza. The following morning Islamic Jihad launched additional rockets including some with sufficient range to strike Sderot, Ashdod and Ashkelon to which Israel made a limited response striking additional terror targets. Islamic Jihad claimed that a cease fire has been negotiated by Egypt. Whether their claims are true matters little as should they cease to shower Israel with rockets there will be no necessity for Israel to strike Gaza further. It has never failed that Israel ceases all strikes on Gaza once the terrorists from within Gaza cease firing on Israeli civilians. The major difference is the Terrorists in Gaza aim to strike Israeli civilians while Israel targets only terrorist weapons stores and manufacturing or terrorists in the act of attempting to launch rockets or fire other indirect fire weapons into Israel. The one strangely fascinating fact about these exchanges is that Islamic Jihad struck Gaza with more failed short-fired rockets than Israeli strikes from the IAF and possibly including the additional rounds from Israeli armor units. There were approximately thirty rockets that struck within Gaza never reaching the Israel-Gaza border from the launching points deep within a residential neighborhood of Gaza City. The choice of firing from within a crowded civilian residential neighborhood by Islamic Jihad is standard practice whenever terrorist units plan on firing a steady stream and large number of projectiles as by using civilians for cover they feel assured that Israel will not return fire on their location thus they can loiter long enough to utilize launchers for numerous rockets in complete safety. When they only fire a couple of rockets each from its own launcher they can choose to risk firing from open areas as they can launch and flee before any Israeli response is launched. This has a lot to do with the known fact by the terrorists that the Israeli military must first receive approval from civilian government authorities before returning fire except in the most specific of scenarios that meet predefined qualifiers.

This recent attack has been threatened for a few months and thus was not a complete surprise. A number of weeks back Hamas announced they were no longer going to prevent other terror groups from launching rockets into Israel. When Israel announced in a reply that this would place Hamas targets equally at the top of targets Israel would strike should rockets be launched while Hamas was giving their blessings through inaction. This brought an almost immediate return of Hamas preventing rocket launches, or at least their statement of such intent. Still, there were fewer that twelve rockets launched during the Hamas stand-down. This recent barrage comes almost two months after those incidents. This was probably part of the reason for the high preponderance of targets belonging to Islamic Jihad and only a few belonging to Hamas. Of course there have been the usual suspects who immediately called for Israel to retake control over the Gaza Strip. Such is not likely to become policy as Israel has little or no interest in retaking Gaza and the nasty snarled mess that would entail. The only hope in Israel is the blessing that thus far nobody has been injured or worse. This has been true on both sides of the border as Israeli strikes are usually made at night with one of the factors being that there is a much lower chance of casualties, especially of innocent civilians, than striking during the day when people are out and may be in the proximity of the terror resources being targeted.

What was saddening, other than the obvious fact that Israelis of all stripes were forced to retreat and live in bomb shelters, were the immediate response from numerous sources calling for an end to hostilities demanding for both sides to stand down even before the Israeli strikes targeting terror storage and weapon manufacturing shops had been launched. It is not accidental that there are immediate calls, sometimes even before the rockets have finished falling on Israelis, for restraint and an end to all violence when the only violence has been the terrorists launching rockets on Israelis. Should Israel actually heed these calls the result would be free runs for the terrorists to launch rockets without any fear of retribution for their actions. This demand that appears to demand that Israel simply accept that her civilians are targets for terror rockets and that any response from Israel is considered over the top and unnecessary is no different than the numerous other double standards applied to Israel and Israelis. We heard another of these double standards a few short hours before the rockets rained down on Israelis when visiting British Prime Minister David Cameron equated Palestinian inciting through virtually every available media and other possible approach to their people compelling them to commit acts of terror and violence against Israelis with the fact that Israelis live within the contested territories.

So, in Prime Minister Cameron’s official opinion, Jews living in houses they often built with their own hands following the laws is equal to Palestinian government officially calling for the murdering of Israelis and especially Jewish Israelis. This has been a libel that has been widely practiced which cheapens the value of Israeli and Jewish lives and is a general insult to every Zionist. What makes it even more so when committed by the British Prime Minister is that it was Britain which guaranteed the Israelis after the San Remo Conference had established that the British Mandate Lands were to be used solely for the establishment of a Jewish State that if the Zionists agreed to not oppose the amending of those instructions by the Churchill White Paper allowing the formation for the Arab Palestinians a state in all of the lands east of the Jordan River, that is seventy-eight-percent of Mandate Lands, then Britain, under the guarantee of the Crown, would ensure permanently into the future that all of the remaining Mandate Territories west of the Jordan River in perpetuity for the Jewish State. Prime Minister Cameron probably should be excused as who can remember such remote treaties as the San Remo Conference or the Treaty of Versailles and the Treaty of Sèvres, let alone that United Nations Charter in Article 80 accepts all the definitions and stipulations from the entire series of treaties, accords, conferences and agreements which resulted in the decade after the end of World War I as valid for all time as long as the United Nations and its charter stand. After all, is it not International Law which everybody demands that Israel abide by when they condemn Israel for allowing those who desire to live beyond the Green Line (the 1949 Armistice Line that the Arab League refused to recognize as a border then or for perpetuity) and west of the Jordan River (an area guaranteed by the League of Nations, United Nations, numerous treaties and agreements from post-World War I, and Britain in an actual formal document with the Zionist leadership as being solely reserved for the Jewish State) on lands they claim do not belong to Israel simply due to a very persistent and successful propaganda campaign by the Palestinians and their Arab allies which redefined reality which has been accepted by a league of world leaders who display glaring examples of extreme ignorance of International Law as defined by treaties of which many of these same nations are signatories. This is a case where ignorance is very destructive of bliss, period.
