White House Correction Tells the Tale

President Obama spoke in glowing tribute for Simone Peres and his efforts for peace and how his message resonates in the world and lamented its failure in the Middle East. The White House released a transcript of the President’s wonderful tribute except they apparently made one single and glaring error, they corrected the media release thus revealing the ugly truth of the aftereffects of the Oslo Accords and how the world has taken one man’s glorious dream and bludgeoned the nations that Simon Peres loved as much as life itself, a fact which must never be forgotten. The White House official media release told the truth initially that President Obama had delivered this address in Jerusalem, Israel. By anybody’s map this is true as the cemetery is located in West Jerusalem in an area within the 1949 Armistice Lines, the Green Line, the 1967 Lines (border) or whatever terminology one desires to use except if one believes that Jerusalem should be as initially denoted in General Assembly Resolution 181 which was rejected by the Arab League and thus made void, so void as if it had never been imagined and pronounced stillborn never to rise like the Phoenix from the ashes of that burning hot rejection which was punctuated when the half dozen plus Arab armies launched their genocidal intended war on the nation of Israel within hours of her birth.

Two Capital Cities Washington and Jerusalem

Two Capital Cities Washington and Jerusalem

Even Simon Peres would never, even in his most delirious moments, have ever stood for the surrender of West Jerusalem even if he favored sharing, sharing being the pivotal word, Jerusalem as the Capital City of Israel and any Arab Palestinian entity. Only in that defamatory document was Jerusalem anything other than the Capital of Israel in some form or another. The United Nations was the originator of the concept of a Jerusalem as an international city not belonging to any nation but to all people of the Earth and protected by the mere declaration and words of the United Nations General Assembly. Would anybody believe that the Arab League or the Palestinian terror entities would leave well enough alone and agree to share the holiest of cities in all Jewish history, the center of Christianity and a once conquered and ignored as a backwater wasted land with horrific weather left meaningless until it regained the hope of returning as the Capital City of the Jewish State, Israel, and of the Jewish faith foremost in the hearts of all Jews as retold for near endless generations in songs and prayers? Just as Constantinople had to be felled and brought into Islam ending the Byzantine or Holy Roman Empire; or how they call for the conquest of Rome and the return of Islamic domination over Vatican City (many in Islam believe the world was created for them by Allah and no others have rights to any of the world and those parts not a part of Islam must be conquered and “returned” to Islam) and Paris and London and New York, and San Francisco and Washington D.C. and anywhere else one cares to name.

But the reality one will be told of Simon Peres and his quest, noble as it was in the eyes of the Western World leftists, to find the means and path to peace between the Arab world and Israel will be the fancy making of good fiction. Simon Peres was the last of the so-called founding fathers of Israel and assisted in the building of the modern IDF and modern IAF building it from French Mirage jets. He was one of the principles who pushed for the Dimona reactor and all that implies and produced (not an admission of anything beyond nuclear physics research). Truth be told, Simon Peres lived two very different lives tied together by his love of Israel and her holy city and Capital, Jerusalem. He saw and made real the necessary military strength and power of Israel and also knew that Israel also required peace as the standing ready for war as the neighboring belligerents being sworn and dedicated to the destruction of Israel left her no other choice. Simon Peres saw the truth and dreamed of peace between Israel and her Arab neighbors and that dream carried his soul on the second path of his life and in that dream he did not fail but the world failed him as they backed those who would make a mockery of his dream and thus of Simon Peres as well. The murder and twisting of Simon Peres and the peace he was brave and bold enough to dream and the backing of a world ready to destroy Simon Peres’s first and foremost dream, one of Israel living in peace and being a Light Unto the Nations making discoveries and designing methods of agriculture and medicine, in physics, chemistry, mathematics and the other sciences all given to the world freely for the betterment of all mankind in the name of Hashem.

That peace was not made reflected no shame or disgrace upon Simon Peres but the abuse of his words, dreams and efforts to drag down Israel and bludgeon the Jewish homeland brings shame on those who performed such atrocities. Simon Peres was a noble man with a dream equal of all the praises spoken by the numerous world leaders just this past week are more than mere words; they are a tribute to his dream and cast shame on those who misused his driving passion as their bludgeon in an attempt for the Europeans to correct what they believe was their error in allowing the Jews to be as other people with their own nation. This destructive use of Simon Peres and his dreams for peace had given the exact result one might expect when one arms and backs one side while demanding the other give concessions after concession while expecting nothing and ignoring every transgression of the other side, the complete wrath of failure, death and destruction which we see sweeping the Middle East. The only thing keeping Israel from becoming the next Syria is the simple resolution of the Israelis to enforce order and restore their homeland in the lands promised by International Law as described in the San Remo Conference and the Treaty of Sèvres all formalized by Article 80 of the United Nations Charter.

But if there is one thing Jews have learned in our long history, things change and when they do, we usually have to rely on our only true weapon, Hashem and the Love given to all Humankind in measure with how they treat the Jews. There are rumors as reported in the below video and this article that President Obama is believing he will be able to pacify the Nobel Committee by forcing a settlement through the United Nations Security Council upon Israel gifting all lands which were occupied by Jordan to the Arab Palestinian Authority which was formed out of the remnants of the PLO, the Palestinian Liberation Organization, a group formed in 1964 to liberate the lands of Israel well before the Six Day War of June 1967 while Jordan still occupied what they called the West Bank. The PLO had no qualms over the Jordanian occupation of the lands which became the lands beyond the 1967 lands which were drawn in 1949 as the Armistice between Israel and the Arab League and all its nations and represented the front lines of the war started by the Arab world against Israel the first day of her existence on May 15, 1948 as they intended to commit another genocide on the Jews. The PLO was also dedicated to the extermination of the Jews of Israel while the Hamas terror group has grander designs, they also want to murder every Jew in Israel and then the rest of the world while they conquer the world for Allah as the Quran has promised. President Obama likely is capable of pressing the United Nations Security Council making it illegal for a Jew to live beyond the 1967 Lines, the 1949 Armistice Lines and even possibly getting it as a Chapter VII enforceable by military action rather than a mere Chapter VI enforceable by hard pressed words and long speeches. Such an item would not be legally binding on the United States without ratification by both houses of Congress. Yes, the United Nations would vote in the Security Council but it would never make ratification through Congress which would nullify any United States participation in its enforcement and, were it against any nation other than Israel, would nullify the entire motion as it would not have been legally presented. We will see and even the will of the American people would likely not prevent President Obama seeking his legacy in such a deceitful manner, but why should this be different. He passed the Iran deal (Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action JCPOA) as necessitating an override of a veto as he claimed it was simply a Presidential agreement and not a treaty and when Congress passed legislation demanding it not be agreed upon he vetoed the bill thus turning the ratification process on its head. He passed his signature legislation of Obamacare (Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act PPACA) through a Congress heavily Democratic without a single Republican vote and in an imperfect form as had the House of Representatives modified the Senate Bill by a single world or punctuation mark it would have returned to the Senate where the late Senator Kennedy was replaced by Senator Scott Brown, a Republican elected by the people of Massachusetts in order to block Obamacare from becoming law. This would be nothing even remotely close for President Obama and he would likely claim he was realizing the dreams of Simone Peres, not even close to the truth.

Simon Peres will be judged by history but not at this time. He will be judged in the future when the heat of the present no longer blurs objectivity. There were two Simone Peres personas, or at least that has been the theme of many an editorial and attempt at explaining this complex and sometimes controversial man. No matter what one’s views, Peres was a giant in everything he did and his story will be just as controversial as were his politics. He remains the indispensable man in all which he was involved. His legacy will be that of a man who lived as a dreamer and who loved Israel above all else. He saw an Israel at peace with its neighbors but did not live to see that dream come to fruition. As in all he attempted, he gave that peace all he had. He gave Israel all he had. Simon Peres never gave up in all he pursued and Israel is all the better for his efforts and owes the man its undying respect. Simon Peres, may that peace you so desperately desired come and come quietly and settle permanently over these lands and may you see this peace from the next world and smile one lasting smile. Where peace is what we owe the memory of Simon Peres, a whole Israel is also a fitting tribute we can give to Simon Peres as this was his first and primary goal in life.

Think None Can Protect You but Yourself, Think Again

The fact is that only each of us can protect ourselves and any around us in a time of crisis. No government, no police, no politician, no political party, no teacher, no Rabbi, only Hashem and the empowerment we receive from on High can protect us when that fateful moment where for being a Jew we are assailed. In that moment we are as alone as we can ever be yet we will pray that there be other Jews around who once we show that fighting is the answer will respond and fight alongside us. This is why a Jew is safer with other Jews rather than on their own alone. Even alone one is far safer if they fight back as such will be unexpected and such surprise will likely startle the attacker and then the assailant will become the assailed. Also, if you are in a group of people, Jews or gentile, the fact you are fighting back against your assailant will embolden those around you and potentially bring others to your aid. Even if the assailant runs, those around you will be more likely to accost and detain the terrorist if you have actively shown them unprepared to fight back if they are attacked. Lastly, if you fight back, others are more likely to come forward and offer immediate first aid in those critical initial few minutes where stopping any bleeding is vital. The reasons behind attacking one’s attacker in their own defense will be to their advantage even against the most aggressive assailant as even they will be set back and in that moment the advantage is yours. Should you not fight back then they are likely to finish their attack killing you and attacking another; so if nothing else, one can save additional lives at the very least by tying up their attacker preventing further victims. Thus your resistance answers all of Rabbi Hillel’s famous quotation from “Ethics of the Fathers, 1:14”

If I am not for myself, who will be for me?
But if I am only for myself, who am I?
If not now, when?”

By reacting to such an attack with active resistance and engaging the attacker making them vulnerable to being prevented from further attacks and potentially subdued or eliminated; you will most definitely be acting for oneself, the first line of Rabbi Hillel’s directive, “If I am not for myself, who will be for me?” Further, you have made it more advantageous for others to assist your efforts thus negating the threat to others availing the answer to the second query, “But if I am only for myself, who am I?” Lastly we will have heeded Rabbi Hillel’s final challenge of “If not now, when?”

Rabbi Hillel was far from the only Rabbi who believed in a strong Jewish response to those who would harm us. Rabbi Meir Kahane also made arguments for our own defense against those who would do us harm. He also warned us of those evils which would befall Israel if we did not excise those who were not part of the body who desired a healthy and strong Jewish body for Israel. He was far from the first to press for an Israel free of foreign invaders or interests. Jewish history is full of such including but far from limited to the Maccabees or Bar Kokhba. Both rose to defend the Jewishness and independence of Israel, even if it was then known as Judea as that was the predominant remaining tribe. The fact that the Jewish state was named Judea and that the term Jew is derived from Judea and was a shortened form of Judean, should tell us a lot about where we should stand today when the world is demanding that we surrender an area of Israel known throughout history as Judea as well as Samaria to a foreign, hostile and cancerous body who call Judea the West Bank and are not interested in just Judea but in the end of all Israel and the eradication of the entire world’s Jewry.

We are not fighting over land; as if that were the case, there would have been an agreement long ago. We are fighting over who had a right to live. The terror groups we are entertaining, or at least our governments be they left wing, right wing, nationalist, internationalist or whatever have all had one thing in common, they believe we can compromise with how much of the body of Israel, the body of Judaism, we can sacrifice today to have a short period of calm before the next demand for a sacrifice will be made. The enemy does not desire their own state; they demand the end of our state and then the end of us, all Jews. They declare this loudly and with pride knowing that every other nation supports their end goal of a world without those Jews. There are some who refuse to say that they desire the Jews gone, but they will be willing to say they think that the Jewish State should surrender a piece of its body to a mortal foe today to buy some quiet, some form of peace with a ravenous beast. Even their own kind refuse to allow them to enter their soil and those on their soil are barricaded and refused any rights as they apparently must never be allowed to roam freely as that would only end in disaster. We have seen this when Yasser Arafat and his merry band of cutthroats roamed in Jordan and attempted to overthrow the government and then was pushed into Lebanon where they again attempted to overthrow the government as the result was them banned and the head of the snake was cut from its body and ensconced in a gilded prison in Tunisia. That could have been the end of the story and Israel left to live in peace and even the Arab population would have rested and lived peaceably; but no, the viper had to be resurrected as its job was not completed.

You ask Israelis who our greatest friend and benefactor is in the world and invariably the answer is ‘America’ virtually every time. You walk around Israel and their love for the United States is broadcast far and wide. Manufactured goods are packaged in fancy emblems in red, white and blue, not simply the blue and white which would indicate Israel. They often have a blue field with five and occasionally six pointed stars. Many packages are emblazoned with red and white stripes and all too many have both and claim American made parts inside. Many an Israeli talks about America as would have a European of fifty to a hundred or more years ago as if the United States too was a promised land. What they never speak of is the fact that there was a definite United States hand along with European hands so encouraging and helpful Israeli hands of Shimon Peres, Dr. Yossi Beilin, Professor Yair Hirschfeld and Dr. Ron Pundak with Prime Minister Yitzchak Rabin brought in to the picture in the final stages forming the monstrosity which still haunts and threatens Israel’s existence to this day. The final status was forged through United States Secretary of State Warren Christopher’s Middle East negotiator, Daniel Kurtzer, who shuttled tirelessly between Tunis and Arafat to Jerusalem with Beilin and Peres, seeking to narrow and then close any final gaps between the PLO and the Israelis closing those parts of the deal not settled in Oslo under the tutelage of Director of the Fafo institute Terje Rod Larson, a Norwegian diplomat. Without the agreement and actual aiding of the clandestine secretive negotiations at the pivotal and vital final stages there would have been no Oslo Accord, no triumphant return of Yasser Arafat from his lavish Tunisian cell and most unfortunate and important item, no Nobel Peace Prize for Simon Peres along with Yasser Arafat, the worst Peace Prizes ever awarded in the Twentieth Century. Perhaps Terje Rod Larson, Secretary of State Warren Christopher and Daniel Kurtzer should have also been so honored for without all their efforts none of this would have been possible.

Still, nothing the United States could ever do to harm Israeli interests and survival could ever sway all too many Israelis from their idealistic views of the United States, or more accurately America as the Israelis are capable of something even Americans are incapable of managing, realizing that the ideal and shining principles which make up the ideal America can be viewed in their original and perceived perfect beginnings and the ideals of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution with its Bill of Rights from the United States which is mired in the two plus centuries removed from that America; or perhaps there is some other reason for so many Israelis starry-eyed view of America, as more often than not they use the term America and not the United States as that may provide the clue. Perhaps this view is upheld by the average heartland American to even some suburban and urban city-dwellers whose view of Israel and the Jewish State have their loving idealized view of Israel as the logical and perfect restoration of the lands of the Tribes of Israel and the Kingdoms of David and Solomon and the perfect revival and the symbol of Jewish survival which if only Israel was. Instead there are the realities and limitations of men and the governments they form and that leaves us with the problems and confusions which cloud what should be crystal clear to even the slightly idealized dreamers. Israel is the land of, by, for and forged by the Jewish People and it is their home to which the remnants of a decimated Jewish European Jewish population first tread and then was invigorated with near to a million more Jewish refugees who were disinvited and spat out the remnants of years of purges and forced conversions from the Arab and Muslim lands from the Middle East across Northern Africa to the Atlantic Ocean. Then the State of Israel sought to discern and find those remains of the Ten Lost Tribes which brought in far flung Jews from places such as Ethiopia and the Menashe from India and others from places equally as surprising and made all into a nation that shines as a light unto the nations of the world. This tiny nation whose representatives and the best of their best are found amongst if not the first to virtually every disaster scene across the globe no matter how far from Haiti to Nepal to Japan and the Philippines, no place is too remote nor person is considered insignificant as a dancer named George (see video below and marvel at miracles) can attest. Israel is amongst the sole nations who have offered to provide and actually provided aid to the citizens of the United States when she was struck by nature’s furies.

Additional CNN reporting from Haiti six days after the earthquake largely from one of the Haitian Hospitals where they are desperate for better facilities to save so many that they are unable to treat with their facilities and the one place they could turn.

But all the altruistic aid to foreign countries and all the taking in of Jews in distress no matter how lengthy their travels from ancient Israel to the modern day may have stretched, the world will never now, as in ancient times, accept and permit a Jewish State to stand unchallenged. In the past those who designed to eradicate the world from the Jew were Ancient Egypt, Philistines, Amalek, Amorites, Midian, Canaanites, Assyrians, Persians, Greek, Roman, Nazis, much of the Arab world in 1948, Egypt, Syria and Jordan in 1967, Syria and Egypt almost succeeded in 1973 and ever since the Arab Palestinians (with the support of the Arab League member states, Iran and the Soviet Union over the years). Yet somehow Israel still stands. Our peace agreements with Jordan and Egypt stand shivering in their stark coldness of an icy cooperation which can never change the hearts of beating hatred within their populace, but stand they do. Syria is no longer, but new threats are born on her still quivering, if prematurely stated, grave. Lebanon leaves stand with the nurturing assistance of a United Nations blind eye the menace of Hezballah currently slightly distracted but soon to leave the Syrian debacle freshly hunting a victory to declare despite any realities, and they will engage Israel to provide said claim. Israel will survive them all as it is not those threats which are aimed menacingly at her heart. Those threats come from the European Union, the United States Department of State, campuses of colleges and universities across the Western World where the future leaders of massive armies and nuclear arms stacked to the skies that are the biggest threats on the future horizons, not so much the Iranian nuclear threat which was loosed by an American President who challenges the reasons he was awarded the Nobel Prize for Peace. Perhaps he will challenge the winners of hypocrisy from the Twentieth Century.

But Israel remains and will through it all and the reason why is doubted despite the Jew surviving the perils of centuries past and doing so in the century of the present age. Hashem has many other names to reference and define but as Israel and the Guardian of the Jews will remain to define Hashem as miracles are performed though seldom recognized outside of Israel. There are those amongst our enemies who have recognized the Hand of Hashem deflecting rockets, defusing explosives, giving a guard that second sense which saves he and his unit by halting them just for that instant. Hashem works his miracles large and small both perceived and to be revealed later when a soul steps to the throne and asks, remember when and before another word is spoken Hashem looks to the soul and says I remember them all both large and small and yours was one of a million that instant and smiles returning to the million miracles Hashem will perform that day. You ask why Israel survives and there are a million reasons, a million personal stories, thousands are those who beat the odds, hundreds who recognize their miracle and the select few whose miracles astound, amaze and inspire us all, but there is only one answer, Hashem. The day will arrive when that is made so evident that none shall doubt Hashem’s hand working in the world and that will be the day when the Jews will finally face threats and foes no more. Until then we work hard in a world that is often cold and cruel pretending we depend on ourselves which we do only as far as needed and Hashem takes care of the rest. We may not even know or recognize as they occur but in that quiet moment when a whisper utters within our brains, then we know we are not alone and Hashem stands astride all and cares for His creations one and all, large and small. And that is why Israel stands and will continue to stand, for she is a miracle herself.

What was made obvious by the years of no progress and no meetings between the Palestinians and the Israelis in order to further the peace process, as it is euphuistically called, is that the two sides had exhausted all avenues and concurrently decided not to further the insanity wasting time and resources in fruitless pursuit of an unattainable agreement. What is obvious to all of the world is not always what is pursued by politicians who, despite their comments to the contrary, are just as aware of the futility of actions which they pursue despite all reason. The reason behind these actions are usually two-fold; first they do not end up on the receiving end of the consequences and second they are able to claim they are pursuing some noble quest seeking to accomplish that which every previous attempt had failed to resolve or accomplish anything measurable but they assure that they are different and have the previously attempted and true answer. Their real motivation is the shining prize of great accomplishment that shines all the brighter against the background of all the previous failures and, in the case of the Palestinian-Israeli Peace Process, the nice shiny Nobel Peace Prize which just happens to come with a rather sizeable monetary reward as the cherry on top. One further point that makes attempts at this prize even more tenable is that one does not even need to actually accomplish anything as long as they are able to hold a signing ceremony as was the sole accomplishment with the Oslo Accords which resulted in Nobel Peace Prizes for both Simon Peres and Yasser Arafat.

So, who are the contestants in this round of repair the irreparable Palestinian-Israeli Peace Process? This time around the politicians contending for the golden ring are United States President Obama and Secretary of State Kerry. What makes this all the more despairing is that their method is the same old tried and futile path of forcing concessions from the Israelis while simply begging the Palestinians for any crumbs while promising to force Israel to give the Palestinians whatever they demand in return for favoring the third party with something they can wear as a cloak of great accomplishment. The problem is that the more one observes these expeditions into fruitlessness are that the Palestinians deal duplicitously not solely with the Israelis but with those third parties who imprudently entered the minefield of broken promises.

It becomes obvious at some point that the Palestinian enter into these numerous attempts throughout history with three specific aspirations they wish to attain, most important they wish to draw as many and as critical concessions from the Israelis as possible, exiting the negotiations at sufficiently early a stage so as to assure there have been no concessions required from themselves, and final to leave the negotiations at such a time and place as to maximize the insult to both the Israelis and whatever third party so foolishly initiated the entire process. Under Yasser Arafat the Palestinians had mastered this ploy and this is another accomplishment of which Yasser Arafat was a true master just as he was the father of modern terrorism. Since his demise the Palestinian leadership fell to Arafat’s second in command, Mahmoud Abbas who is a far cry from the original. This has been made even more evident in the most recent attempts at furthering the peace process in that the Palestinians under Abbas walk away from negotiations at the very start. In all manner of deceitful negotiating the current Palestinian leadership appears to lack the finesse and delicacy required to maximize concessions while continuing negotiations right up to the point where they themselves must make a concession. This would normally be a blessing as this deficiency minimizes the damage these negotiations should produce.

What negates the aforementioned blessing is that the protagonists in these negotiations, President Obama and Secretary of State Kerry, have absolutely no regard and even a possible undisclosed desire to maximize the concessions forced from the Israelis even to the point of causing irreparable damage to the Israeli people. This was first made evident as far as President Obama is concerned when almost out of the chute in his first term President Obama demanded the Israelis apply a formerly unheard building freeze on all Israeli properties, towns, and settlements in the lands acquired during the Six Day War when the Jordanians joined the conflict and lost the areas west of the Jordan River. This action by President Obama broke all existing limits on how far any third party would go in order to attain the cooperation of the Palestinians. Never before had anybody in their initial attempt at forging some amount of reconciliation between the Palestinians and Israelis taken the liberty to actually demand an Israeli concession as their introduction into the process. Such an initiative showed a complete and utter disregard for the Israelis positions and may also have been an indication of insults to come. When one also figures in that the very first foreign leader called from the Oval Office after the Inauguration by President Obama was to none other than Chairman of the PLO and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas as well as the insults in appearances shown Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu when in his first visits to the White House in Washington DC as he was made to enter and leave meetings with the President by entrances other than the main entrance, an insult not foisted even on enemy heads of states which are antagonists of the United States as well as President Obama leaving in the middle of negotiations with the Israeli leader in order to have dinner with his family and doing so rather abruptly with instructions Prime Minister Netanyahu and his staff should take the time and reconsider their positions and attitudes and if they decided to amend their ways they should tell some functionary who would relay their acquiescence to the President’s demands.

Secretary of State Kerry, while not having an obvious record of anti-Israeli positions, has shown distaste for Prime Minister Netanyahu if only due to their differences in political outlook. The one act thus far which might tend to make one suspicious of Secretary Kerry’s opinion of the Israelis was his decision to appoint Martin Indyk as the mediator for the Palestinian-Israeli negotiations. Mr. Indyk was one of the politicians in the United States who as a former Ambassador to Israel was approached for his opinion on the Israeli disengagement from Gaza to which he claimed it showed great promise to lead to a full Palestinian state with new and friendlier leadership and a lasting peace between the Israelis and the Palestinians. This was the same disengagement that eventually led to Hamas taking over the Gaza in a violent coup and afterwards raining rockets onto Israeli towns, kibbutzim and farms neighboring Gaza. This was also the same disengagement which drove Netanyahu to resign from his Ministership position in Prime Minister Sharon’s Cabinet. Further, Mr. Indyk at the inception of these negotiations was a member of the board of the New Israel Fund, an extreme left, pro-Palestinian, anti-Israel NGO which draws its monetary support almost exclusively (records show near or over 80% funding) from the European Union, European individual governments, George Soros, Arab Governments and other extreme leftist anti-Israel NGOs. Put all of these pieces of evidence together and you have an accurate picture of a situation designed to maximize damage to Israel in the pursuit of false praises from extreme leftist interests and the Arab world. The one hope for Israel in these times and under these conditions including enemies whose hearts are hardened is for the L0rd to soften their minds such that they become unable to exercise rational thought and thus become incapable of taking full advantage of the opportunities which have potential to destroy the Jewish State.
