Some Advice for my Few Remaining Democrat Friends

Most, if not all, of my remaining Democrat friends are old enough to remember President Kennedy. Unlike some who argue he was not that great a President, I think of him as the last true American Democrat President. When we view the basics that President Kennedy stood for, you find that three things jump off the page. First and foremost, he believed in equality for all people before government and the law. Second, he believed in keeping government, for the most part, out of people’s everyday lives. This included lower taxes to keep government out of the way of progress and economic health. Finally, he believed in a strong military, providing protection of our freedoms, so we would not ever be backed into a corner and cowed, remember the Cuban Missile Crisis. My feelings are that in many ways, as much as is possible, President Kennedy was the President Reagan of the Democrat Party. I know just putting my feelings about President Kennedy down on my blog and equating him with President Reagan will draw heaping loads criticisms, but what else is new.

Now for the bad news, today’s Democrats are not anything at all like President Kennedy. Almost everything President Kennedy stood for was murdered by President Lyndon Baines Johnson. I know many who call President Franklin Delano Roosevelt the man who destroyed America with his socialist policies. Where I agree FDR did indeed do a fair amount of damage, for me, it was LBJ who killed America’s bright future. Thanks to his policies we have lived on the edge of financial ruin ever since. Granted, since LBJ it has seemed like every Democrat President tried to double down on his programs, driving the country closer and closer to financial meltdown. And it appears that President Obama will succeed in attaining that goal. But the truth be told, President Kennedy was the last truly American Democrat President, and it was President Reagan who transformed the Republican Party into the party of less government, lower taxes, strong defense and true American values. I feel I must also give a tip of the hat to Barry Goldwater who stood first for this transformative movement within the Republican Party.

Time to make my concluding thoughts, here goes. Maybe you remember the saying back from the 1950’s and 1960’s, “If you want to live like a Republican, vote for a Democrat.” Well, today that phrase would say, “If you want lower taxes, less government and a strong, vibrant, healthy America, times have changed, the old Democrats are today’s Republicans.” Honestly, true traditional liberal values are no longer the calling card of the Democrats; the true Jeffersonian Liberals that can be found are from the Republican Party by in large. Contrary to the elite media’s deceit, the Republican Party is in the corner of the forgotten man, the everyday, work-hard, freedom-loving American.

American Economy is not Sick but Overburdened

Our leaders in Washington and the Media have been telling the fairy tale that the American economy is very sick and its workers are broken. Neither of these claims is true. Truth be told, the American economy and people are overburdened by an out of control government at every level. When one takes into consideration all the taxes paid by a combination of the employee and their employer to the different government taxes, fees, licensing charges, and other related expenses, employees are taxed at near or over 50% and businesses are not too far behind. Compare this to the level of taxation and all other sundry fees, licenses, etc. from the middle of last century; the difference is stark and depressing. Depending on your tax level, the increase in the government share of your wages has increased between five to ten fold. It is no wonder why most families need for both parents to work full time whether they wish it or not. As things now stand, one parent works for the family and the other works strictly for the government. What does the future hold as the government feeds on even more of our paycheck to pay for more areas where government has extended its control despite our Constitutional prohibitions. It is no longer a question of where will it stop, but it is can it be prevented from totally enslaving everyone as the Government takes complete control over every aspect of our lives and consumes the remaining scraps of our economies.

The Bible addresses the supposed limits of a King, which would today apply to any form of governance. In these passages, G-d instructs the spiritual leaders to yield to the people when the time comes that they ask for a King to rule over them so they will be protected and led, as are all other nations. Despite this being the Children of Israel turning from the rule of their G-d, the L-rd realizes the Children of Israel relying on Him for guidance of all day to day menial tasks normally assigned to government, is totally beyond a reasonable expectation. Knowing this inevitability will come to pass, the L-rd allows this request to be granted ahead of the asking, but with provisions to limit a King, or any government. The governing may not task the people above 10% in taxation and fees. The governing are not to be allowed to posses great numbers of horses or other trappings of overt wealth. Government is not to become a burden over the people but is rather enabled so that it serves the people. It was G-d in the Old Testament who first proposes the idea that government is formed at the grace and request of the people and must be limited to the service of the people. Government was to provide protection from invasion, enforcement of the laws as given in Torah, provide unbiased justice, refrain from lording over the people, gathering great wealth, lands or possessions, and to be humble before the L-rd.

These were the limits on government that the Founding Fathers envisioned. They actually wished to have government as proposed in the Bible, serving the people, not oppressing the people, and definitely not crushing the people with onerous burdens. Without realizing this today, when we call for a return to a government existing within the restrictions of the American Constitution, we are also seeking a government that exists within the limits of G-d placed there for all to see in the Tenach, the Five Books of Moses. So, in a great way, our nation was designed solely for a holy and religious people who knew and understood their Scriptures, as it was those Scriptures that defined the limits and powers for government at our founding.

How Would Anti-Semitism Come to America?

As I have often been written off as insane, unhinged, irrelevant, or simply mad, I take no risk framing how I see Jew hatred coming to America as it has spread throughout the Middle East, Europe, and virtually everywhere other than the United States. Please understand that the world’s oldest hatred can and more than likely will be manifest in America should current problems continue to grow and the economy continue to refuse to regain its health. It will creep in slowly at first and steadily grow until it captures the majority of governance here in America. Initially, its birth will be stealthy and remain unnoticed until it is too late and anti-Semitism spreading to all corners of the land becomes virtually inevitable.

This visceral ancient hatred will not come from the Federal government as well as not starting at the State level. The first tentacles will wrap themselves around small communities, usually communities with no Jews, thus it will pass silently unchallenged. It will first peek its head with an unwritten agreement in a neighborhood to refuse the sale of housing to Jews in order to keep the neighborhood “pure” and free of “those demonic influences.” Soon after, small groups will boycott businesses and may pass motions enforcing such upon the members of their organization or group. Still, all these small acorns of hate will go unnoticed or disregarded when discovered as the simple ignorance of some people that would never gain general acceptance. Memberships in neo-Nazi and extremist Islamic organizations will increase and spread their influence.

Following this meager beginning, members of those parts of society desiring to mandate anti-Jewish laws and regulations will run campaigns for office in town councils, city governments, real estate oversight and zoning boards, and other positions that craft local ordinance and regulations. Their influence will grow and eventually reach a critical mass where they can craft the public atmosphere in such a way as to make Jews less comfortable, making Jewish practices unacceptable, and placing other restrictions that will include Jews and likely other undesirable groups. Slowly but surely this influence will worm its way up the governance ladder from small community groups, to city and county levels, and finally on to the State level. In parallel, these groups will form political groups that will concentrate on appointing or electing judges who agree with their prejudices and uphold the restrictive laws, regulations, and related efforts.

How far the tentacles of anti-Semitism will spread is difficult to predict, but it is very likely that by the time it is raised as an issue on the national level, it will take cases brought to the Supreme Court in order to undo the hate filled damages. It may be impossible to repair the damages before the intent driving these people will be completed and the nation’s Jews will either have emigrated, likely to Israel, or shoved aside back into a similar set of Jewish Ghettos as happened all too many times throughout history. For those who will say that anti-Semitism could never happen in America, let me give the example when, even though briefly, on December 17, 1862 General Ulysses S. Grant issued his infamous General Order No. 11, which, among its other provisions, barred Jews from residence in Tennessee, Mississippi, and Kentucky. To his credit, President Lincoln rescinded the order upon being advised of what had occurred.
