Election America, to Steal or not to Steal

There is going to be an all-out assault during the next American elections with the media making mountains out of ant hills, not even a mole hill size items. They will barrage the American voters with a different Trump controversy, conspiracy, scheme, collusion and other enticing tidbits. Each of these claims will have a half life of about twelve hours making them disappear within a couple of days, which is why the media is already lining up their ducks and making sure they are all in a row. But no matter how much they are able to invent, infer, suggest, rumor and hyperventilate over, these efforts are going to be overshadowed by the Democrat Primary Race.

We all know that hell knows no fury like a leftist scorned, and the Democrat Primaries will have an ample quantity of leftists each competing to make the others appear stingy when it comes to offering free stuff. The Democrats will have two sides to their campaign, the who can out-spend all of the other candidates with offers of free medical coverage for all, free college for all, forgiving all college debts, guaranteed wage, fifteen-dollar an hour minimum wage, paid vacations and whatever other socialist gems in the rough they can invent. Their backstabbing, undercutting, slash and burn campaigning will provide everything the Republicans require to win the election without ever using anything which was not part of the Democrat no-holds barred campaigning.

But the Republican primaries might also have some excitement as the establishment, country club, old guard Republicans may very well put somebody up against Trump. Originally, that person appeared to be Mitt Romney as that was the reason for him bumping a fresh and upcoming young man from the ballot so he would be in a position to threaten Trump. Whomever the Republicans attempt to run against President Trump will likely be guaranteed to win the majority of states which will be in the Democrat’s pocket during the election and as such will be a great measuring as to how the election itself will play out. There is another possibility in that the chosen savior who is going to replace Trump on the Republican ticket actually is dragged across the finish line ahead of Trump. Should this be the result, the Republican hierarchy might be able to do to Trump what Hillary did to Bernie Sanders. This would not bode well for the Republicans as not replacing Trump on the ticket is very likely to have many Trump supporters simply staying home. The one secret to the Trump victory which has been mostly ignored were the numbers of first-time voters and people returning to active voting after taking a long break. Remember the little group known as the Silent Majority? Well, they may not be the majority but when it came to supporting President Trump, they definitely were not silent. Should they go quiet, then the Republicans will definitely lose the White House and very probably lose the House and a possibility of losing the Senate. Such a collapse of the Republican base would place the surviving Democrat from the primaries in the White House very probably with a favorable Congress. With a small amount of rule changing such as cloture requiring a simple majority instead of sixty votes and other adjustments and they would be capable of almost anything policy wise.

They Can do Socialism Right, Really?

They Can do Socialism Right, Really?

The next American elections could provide some of the most ridiculous articles when attempting to cover the give away for votes the Democrats appear to be ready to use as their campaign slogan. Get your free stuff here, for a small fee, but we will only tax the rich and if Elizabeth Warren should win, she has proposed the greatest job and wealth killer in the world, a wealth tax. Such a tax would see money and corporations fleeing the United States in order to protect their shareholders and the health of the company. The remainder of the initial squeaking from the overly crowded field of candidates has already laid out several plans and programs which would completely destroy the American economy and do so with great alacrity. The Democrat Party has become the American for Socialism Party with the banner claiming, ‘We can do it right unlike the previous thousand times socialism has gutted a national economy.’

The proof that the Democrats have become the supporters of socialism was proven by their reaction to the Israeli elections. Their hatred for Bibi Netanyahu stems from far deeper than his nationalist agenda and stated support for the Israelis residing beyond the Green Line. Their initial distaste for Bibi Netanyahu originates back in the early 2000’s when he was assigned to be the Israeli Finance Minister. Ariel Sharon gave Bibi this assignment because it had been the death knell for every former Finance Minister as the Israeli economy was hamstrung with heavy amounts of socialism left over from the thirty plus years of the Labor Party running the country. Bibi immediately started to sell off many of the government agencies to private corporations completely separating them from government control. The taxes were revamped to be more favorable to research and development and allowing for the retention of more of the wealth. Israel still has that burdensome VAT tax, but some things might be going too far too fast. Still, Bibi transformed much of the Israeli economy into one based on Capitalism. Bibi also reinvested in Israeli companies giving them an advantage in receiving government contracts over foreign companies. These transformations took Israel from Socialistic economy to a Capitalist economy and the country has never looked back. But to the current Democrat leadership, such a transformation is taking the economy in the wrong direction. They insist that the government be the decider of who will be a winner and who will be the loser. Government will guarantee that workers have all the rights and the corporate owners will be made subjected to the worker’s demands. Should the American people choose their policies, then America could be heading over the falls without even a barrel.

The Divide and the Wall

There is no more perfect measuring tape depicting the divide between those who desire government as usual and those tired of the monster in Washington D.C. which has been named the “Deep State” which envisions minions of the state huddled in their offices and cubicles making rules for the rest of the nation without any recourse by the people to select or remove these bureaucrats. This has been an existing threat to the freedoms and liberties of every American for decades. Some ask where did this “Deep State” originate and how did they gain so much power and influence over even everyday life? That is an interesting question which brings to light the bad attitude many lawmakers really have for their constituents. This story starts as a result of gross mismanagement of the economic front combined with the demands of World War II imposed atop the former problem. The first person to go on the record and warn the people of this growing threat was, from an unsuspected person, President Dwight David Eisenhower. President Eisenhower had probably one of the deepest understandings of how the government functioned and how the unchecked growth in the Federal Governmental Powers would eventually lead to an oppressive state where the rules had become so complex and often contradictory that anybody could be arrested for even the most casual and daily activity. Between his serving as the Commander of all Allied Forces in the European Theater, he learned the tact needed to work with the political; and as President, he came to envision the potential that the Federal Government could grow to threaten the people and the nation. He referred to this threat as the “Military Industrial Complex” but he saw deeper as mentioned in his parting speech given as he prepared to leave office and retire from public life, which we have included below. This additional threat he foresaw was for a technological elite who through computing power, money and control over information would hold the power to control much of life and even potentially take dictatorial control enslaving even the governance of the country reducing the people to pawns they moved as they desired. This short speech is well worth watching as President Eisenhower hits the nail on the head explaining the potential problem which has slowly come into focus and we are witnessing today.

Today, we have as President a non-politician Donald J. Trump, a figure who has proven to be divisive unlike any before him. He managed, as has every Republican from Eisenhower forward, to alienate the Democrat base and their far left set. Trump has also managed to distress the elite Republican guard, also known as the Country Club Republicans who mostly reside in New England but run for office in states such as Texas, Utah or anywhere else they may have a second or third vacation home. Then the far right has become disenchanted with Trump, as he has not turned out to be the hateful White Supremacist they had desired. This is one group which President Trump gladly refuses to give cover as their actions for hating others is repugnant to him. We realize that there are a fair number of people who like to believe that President Trump is aligned with those hate filled people of the far right, but President Trump has nothing for those hate-filled people on the far right any more or less than he feels about hate-filled people on the far left. There have been a few actions by President Trump which have been for the betterment of the American public, though some will deny this with every ounce of their energy. These liberating actions, though, will only prove helpful if the people actually observe, learn and then act upon what they have learned and observed. The biggest item on this list is the revelation of the “Deep State” which is the fulfillment of America ignoring the warnings from President Eisenhower. His warning of a military industrial complex taking control of the governance and using the government to their benefit without concern for the betterment of the people was likely ignored and soon forgotten and the monster grew to the point where it has enveloped much of industry and all of government. Their claim is that when they gain, the people gain, but from what we have witnessed, the people do not gain as much nor as fast thus allowing the elite from the industrial techno-military and dark programs complex to have also engulfed the media and academic worlds into a shadow government. This has been further enhanced by the machinations by the full array of management of numerous bureaucracies, virtual independent or mutually dependent fiefdoms, with their eternal demands for more financing to solve the problem they caused with their previous solutions leading to their never-ending cycles of demands. This has permitted the government to grow to the point where control became difficult and very soon thereafter moved far beyond any point where control was even remotely conceivable. This was greatly aided by the Congress being remiss in performing their Constitutionally defined duties and consecutive White Houses which permitted such delinquency in regard of the Constitution and singing incomplete legislation leading to an ever-growing government bureaucracy.

Deep State and the Swamp

The problem arose when the issues became more complicated, complex, technical and beyond the ability for the average member of Congress to get their arms around. This led to the forming and passing of legislation which did not set laws but rather set vague and generalized goals with the notation for the actual laws, in the form of regulations which Congress has assigned to have equal weight as a law, to be filled in by certain chosen departments within the government and often ending stating any other departments, as determined to be necessary. This permitted virtually every department within the government to make regulations and then set up the enforcement requirements within the agencies leading to the perpetual growth of the departments which for the bureaucracy which is the swamp President Trump alluded to draining. The unavoidable result of this system are the web of regulations which have already become almost innumerable in scope leading to regulations both requiring on one hand and forbidding on the other hand of acts, reportings, and other requirements such that nobody can comply with the entirety without potentially transgressing another regulation when complying with an original regulation. This is the perfect storm required for the government to be weaponized against the very people it was designed to protect. Anyone who owned a small business or even a Mom & Pop store realizes day in and day out trying to meet the regulations they know or have been advised to follow. When they are fortunate, the government leaves things at that, but should somebody decide to target such operations, they simply seek out some regulations, or some group of regulations, which can be applied to their business forcing them to attempt to keep abreast of these demands which can and likely will become overwhelming and often results in their business falling victim to over-regulation forcing them out of business. Moneyed interests can even twist laws to the point of breaking in order to gain their desired results. Such appeared to be the case in the “Kelo v. City of New London” which involved use of eminent domain to transfer land from one private owner to another private owner to further economic development. The Supreme Court decided five to four that the city had the right to force owners of private residences in an area where the city desired to place high-rise condos and a shopping mall had the right under eminent domain to force out the owners of homes, some had been family residences for generations, simply because the new development would provide greater revenue through taxes remitted and thus the development was in the best interest of the people which outweighed the property rights of individuals. Many were very upset with this decision as it put monetary concerns ahead of the individual and their rights. Now, any governing body can decide to take over any neighborhood if the planned replacement will be more profitable for the governing body, individual rights be damned. We hold out hope that in some future this decision will be overturned.

This brings us to the Trump Wall along the Mexico-American border. The present fight, some might even say war, between President Trump and Congress over funding the wall reached a new plateau this week with the House of Representatives and the Senate both passing legislation voiding the State of Emergency declared by the President by which he could get the funding despite Congress. As should have been expected, President Trump used his veto and sent the legislation back to the House of Representatives so the Congress could work on procuring an override to the Presidential veto. It is almost a given that the proponents of this legislation will never be able to get the two-thirds vote necessary in both houses. Yes, there were twelve Senate Republicans who voted for this legislation yet it still only passed the Senate by a vote of 59-41, well short of the sixty-seven required for an override. The mere fact that twelve Senators from presumably Trump’s own party would cross over to rebuke him so flagrantly is simply further proof that the President is not supported by the mainstream of either party. President Trump is honestly the President without a party, he just borrowed one for the time being and many of those Republicans who see their control threatened are quite put out, one might even say they are furious. This veto will soon become another Trump derangement where it will advance their precious “Impeachment Clock” one more tic closer to toc. Thusfar, the “Impeachment Clock” has had an operational problem in that it continues to tic but cannot advance, as it is unable to find the required toc to complete the cycle and move ahead. Thus, the “Impeachment Clock” will forever be stuck at just under three minutes to eleven and never count on to high noon and an actual impeachment trial in the Senate.

Impeachment Clock

The wall along the border will possibly begin in fits and starts but will not be completed even should President Trump be reelected. The only way the wall gets built is if the United States can elect a new President who shares the vision of controlling the border but is at least measurably less contentious. As any Republican elected for the foreseeable future will be treated exactly as President Trump has been treated, the wall would require a Democrat to build it. Any Democrat attempting to build the wall will not see a second term as he will have alienated his entire base as “intersectionality” has a required position in favor of open borders, and as long as the left demands rigid obedience to their chosen mantras which include but are not limited to, open borders, Israel is racist, renewable energy over fossil fuels, free college, free healthcare, Israel committing genocide, Zionism is racism, global warming-climate change will destroy the world and a host of other items approved by the Social Democrat Party. The people behind these far left positions have taken control of the Democrat Party with the old-school Democrats hanging on for dear life hoping not to fall within the sights of these leftists and face a primary challenge. The new left has proven their ability to unseat even long-sitting representatives such as when Representative Joseph Crowley of New York, once seen as a possible successor to Nancy Pelosi as Democratic leader of the House, lost to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in a primary race. The Democrat Party will be facing an inevitable and inexorable slide to the far left and demands for making the United States into their idea of a socialist utopia. Unfortunately, there has never been a socialist utopia which incorporated a group larger than a community as socialism depends on the ability to shame those who demands more free things without toting their own share of the work required. Pure socialism worked in the Israeli Kibbutzim but Israel herself necessitated moving from a largely socialist governance to a more capitalistic governance where even the healthcare system, which covers everybody with a set minimal level of care, has four companies which offer the basic required plans as demanded by government and each adds their own flavor to that package plus offer higher degrees of care for additional process. Then there is the other story about the ills caused by collectivism in the Plymouth Colony and the “Third Thanksgiving” and how injecting a little ability for self-gain increased their work levels and productivity. We have often held that man is not a perfect being and some amount of greed is to be found in all people. This makes a system based on needs over production will always lead to an ever increasing list of demands over an ever shrinking productivity, which deems socialism to failure whenever people, and not ants or bees, are concerned. Meanwhile, in a more capitalist system those who have needs simply have to work smarter, harder or both in order to gain those needs. Not as obvious, if one can find the means for having others work and produce for them, they will gain even greater rewards. But socialism aside, since only a Republican President will favor building the Mexico Wall, and any Republican will face the level of hatred which President Trump faces, this may doom the wall to failure. Those who desire claiming that President Trump is being treated differently than other Republicans must have missed out on Bush Derangement Syndrome during George W. Bush’s Presidency or have not been born or was not old enough to remember the taunts and insults hurled vindictively at President Ronald Reagan whose movie poster of him with the chimpanzee “Bonzo” claiming that he was second fiddle to a monkey, and they were not referring to the film. The wall is not going to be completed no matter the steps taken by the President and the swamp cannot be drained as it has reached a size beyond the human capacity to take down any faster than it was built, which is now approaching three-quarters of a century if we take President Eisenhower’s warning as the beginning of the problem. We can only hope that the swamp can be contained, then we can work at draining it. Until them, Americans can assist draining the swamp or enlarging the swamp, there is no neutral on this issue.

The Continuing March to the All-Powerful State

We hear much about the split between right and left political parties and individuals. With a media fed by leftist academia, there is the dual-attack on everything not progressive, the new word which replaced liberalism because liberalism had its name destroyed and tied to failed policies. The interesting thing about this change is that when the progressive politicians had destroyed the name of progressivism, at that time they changed their name to liberals hoping that their ideas and policies could be sold as liberating instead of the stifling which progressivism had come to represent. It was Hillary Clinton who referred to herself as an early Twentieth Century progressive when she attempted to strip herself of the liberal label. This worked almost well enough for her to win the Presidency on her second try. She was counting on the fact that most people have little recollection of what exactly was a progressive of the early Twentieth Century and thus she could define herself as the candidate for progress. This has been the systematic redefining that the socialists have had to do to avoid being labeled exactly what they are, Statists. The progressives, and the liberals after them and now again with the moniker progressives have always stood for has been socialism and the empowerment of government. They offer programs which sound marvelous and all inclusive but these programs are all based on one simple concept, the government must be the provider of rights and all means of survival thus having the power to decide who lives and who does not. Gaining this power, despite the claim that they are empowering women, comes through in the abortion debate where the plans of Margaret Sanger remain alive and well within Planned Parenthood, to remove the unwanted types of people from the society through sterilization and abortion preventing their reproducing. This is also central in the discussion over euthanasia of the terminally ill and the elderly. What is almost always refused entry into this debate is the speed with which medical discoveries and breakthroughs are being made and how this will only become more miraculous with time and thus some who may choose to be euthanized may do so only to have their loved ones read of a new miraculous cure or treatment which could have returned their loved one to a productive and healthier life which could have continued for decades. The newest discussion in these areas has been the right of a parent to abort a disabled child after their birth simply because they are not prepared to make the sacrifices required by their infant’s disability or illness. Thankfully, this was not the custom when Ludwig van Beethoven who was almost completely deaf, and as such in his time was most definitely a difficult imposition on his parents. By the standards being touted today by the left, one such as Beethoven could be considered not worthy of the effort to be permitted to live.

While reading an article which took a slightly differing approach to the difference between the left and right, as stated in this article the difference was between Leftism and Americanism, an odd and not too sophisticated movie, which was amusing just the same, came to mind called, “Idiocrasy,” about life in the far future. We are not recommending rushing out to order this on Netflix or any other means to view it, that is unless you have some time to waste on puerile enjoyment and flatulence jokes used to set the level of the society and not intended to entertain. In the film, a not so intelligent soldier and a woman who volunteered for the financial reward end up in the 2500’s, where the society has all but collapsed due to government programs and regulations ruling every part of life and the general dumbing down of the population reaching its logical conclusion. The rest is unimportant beyond the fact that this is where every experiment by mankind has led to, or would given sufficient time, where the government gains total control over every facet of life, the means and methods of production and virtually everything is regimented by rigid regulations. Somehow, in Idiocracy, it led to humorous institutions run by ignoramuses where television shows of the basest variety are more important than working or virtually everything else. The world, by rule of law, is restricted to using an energy drink for everything for which Hashem gave us water and for some reason they are unable to grow food, yet everyone still eats. This comical look at a total socialist existence which had been in place for quite some time and where it invariably would lead is, in its own way, educating.

The reality of government dependence and reliance solely on the government to fix every little problem is that people will tend to lose their motivation to actually perform any actual service to the society. Socialism works well in small groups which have a common goal and where there can be societal shame used to motivate any slackers. Further, in a small group such as communes or the Israeli Kibbutzim, members who are not pulling their weight and have no specialized skills making them worth carrying are often invited to leave the group and try being shiftless elsewhere. Such a control mechanism does not function with such means as shaming in a large, metropolitan society where often people know absolutely nothing about their neighbors. Also, when the goodies provided by the all-powerful government includes housing, then those who are completely dependent upon the government for their food, shelter and all other necessities end up residing together where their way of life is the norm and thus shaming again is useless, or in this case, nonexistent. Currently, there are two shining examples of a completely socialist governance and where such leads, and they are North Korea and Venezuela. There is another item such societies posses, and that is a complete ban on private ownership of firearms. This makes the people completely dependent on government and with no power to resist any policy. They also make resisting anything the government may decide is necessary to continue ruling including deciding that certain people no longer have any right to exist. This can lead to the extermination of an entire group in any random basis such as the Nazi near extermination of European Jewry, and the Nazis were socialists, National Socialists. Currently, in both Venezuela and North Korea, people are starving and without their medications or any of the niceties of life such as toilet paper. Changing the leadership in either nation or infusing capital in an attempt to restart economic activity will result in throwing good money after bad as they will slowly grind their economic engine to a halt in order to serve government programs.

There is another oddity which we and some of our friends have discussed at length and come to what originally we thought was something odd, but later we reached some conclusions. The item we noted was that the people supporting leftism and the socialist agenda mostly resided in the larger cities while those who supported individualism, capitalism and such were those in the rural communities. This appeared perplexing, especially since we all resided in larger cities and would have politically stood with those from the rural areas, so obviously this was not a universal qualifier. We finally hit upon the differentiating factor, or at least we settled for this reasoning. Disclaimer, we are not necessarily the sharpest knives in the drawer. What we found was that in each of our lives, should something break or if we did not have the exact item needed to complete some task, we would improvise and get the item functioning or complete the job and then, when it was more convenient, we would go and get the correct item or fabricate some elaborate piece and actually repair or complete some task. This did not mean we would use a roll of pennies instead of a fuse in our homes, but we would wrap a gum wrapper around a fuse in something like a flashlight to get it to function when needed and later replace the fuse. None of us admitted to doing such with the fuse in a vehicle, but we all knew that at least some of us had probably committed such a not so brilliant fix. The people we all knew who were avowed leftists, and yes, we managed to remain friends with such people because they can be perfectly wonderful people and even good friends, until something breaks, but we avoided talking politics with them as we realized long ago that leftists must find their own path taking them off the government plantation. Truth be told, some of us were once leftists and have found our way to self-reliance. And that the term which most often delineates leftists from those on the right, is self-reliance. It actually comes down to do you at least try to repair things yourself or do you wait for a repair person to come and repair it because they were trained for such jobs.

We noted another difference which was less obvious and had a greater number of exceptions. What we noted was that most of the leftists worked either in a union, an office, or some regimented type of work where people were, to varying degrees, interchangeable while the more conservative people worked often in some form of repair or technical work and often for smaller companies where each person has their particular specialty which adds to the whole and all are able to perform multiple jobs required by their employers. What we were never quite able to get our arms around was why the vast majority of highly educated university graduates were almost all leftists, and the more education they had and the more advanced degrees they had attained, the stronger this attachment. This may be due to our age and the majority of these highly educated varieties of people we meet are often twenty or more years younger than ourselves. We also had noticed that the highly educated which were closer to our age were more likely not to be leftists and abhorred socialism. We might have fallen into the trap of believing age has something to do with political views, but we know far too many people our age who are committed leftists. These other descriptions appeared to be somewhat more accurate and telling.

George Orwell’s Animal Farm

George Orwell’s Animal Farm

We understand the concept of assisting the poor, especially those who have some disabling difficulty which prevents their being gainfully employed. Special instances must not become generalized privileges available to the general public at large. We understand the necessity for taking care of the elderly, but this too is not universal as there are those of advanced age who are still fully capable and there are some who prefer working to taking a government handout. It is for these people that we oppose age restrictions such as mandatory retirement age. Some people can be unable to functionally work due to age and other related injuries and complications at age forty-five while other people are still vigorous and fit at age seventy plus. One-size fits all rules are seldom a great idea as, in case you may have missed this, people are all different with different needs, abilities and desires. This is part of the problem when the government makes rules for the society; these rules are, by necessity, one-size fits all. What is interesting is that those who make these rules always find some means of excusing themselves from the same rules. The example which has always upset us and our friends was when regulations and rules were passed to make insider trading of stocks and bonds illegal, the legislators of Congress and their senior aides and advisors, you know, the people most likely to have insider information and even information even insiders do not have access to such as who is about to get the big defense contract, these people were exempted from all prosecution for insider trading. This should provide everyone with the answer as to how people after four years in an elected government position or high post for an elected member of the government become multi-millionaires when they were almost dirt poor upon entering office. Rules, what rules, we are the governing, not the governed, we do not have to obey the rules. Members of Congress cannot be ticketed for speeding or other driving violations as long as they are on their way to the office, that is another great rule which is just wrong. These are just a taste to get everybody upset. The other item you will see is even in Venezuela and North Korea the leadership and their friends and the military eat and live well, the closer to the leader, the better one lives. Socialism is all for equal treatment of the common people and not of the privileged people. Those who matter, matter and those that don’t, don’t, it is that simple. To quote George Orwell’s “Animal Farm,” “All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.” To that, we need add nothing as if you do not understand this, you will never understand socialism and the privilege of the governing, something relatively valid no matter the governance. All governments will tend to grow and once they pass a certain size, they are next to impossible to bring back under the control of the people as they have amassed too much power and the ability to know far more than is required to govern about every individual and more so once you become a person they find interesting, gain ballot access to Congress and you will find out exactly how interesting you can become. Thomas Jefferson stated, “The government which governs best governs least.” Unfortunately, the government which will govern least is the one with the least number of employees. When it comes to government, the first thing that matters is whether they are capitalist or socialist, the next is whether they are elected or some form of plutocracy, and finally, no matter what you have heard, size matters. After these three items, the rest can be diced out by the people for the government still belongs to the people and not the people to the government.
