The Continuing March to the All-Powerful State

We hear much about the split between right and left political parties and individuals. With a media fed by leftist academia, there is the dual-attack on everything not progressive, the new word which replaced liberalism because liberalism had its name destroyed and tied to failed policies. The interesting thing about this change is that when the progressive politicians had destroyed the name of progressivism, at that time they changed their name to liberals hoping that their ideas and policies could be sold as liberating instead of the stifling which progressivism had come to represent. It was Hillary Clinton who referred to herself as an early Twentieth Century progressive when she attempted to strip herself of the liberal label. This worked almost well enough for her to win the Presidency on her second try. She was counting on the fact that most people have little recollection of what exactly was a progressive of the early Twentieth Century and thus she could define herself as the candidate for progress. This has been the systematic redefining that the socialists have had to do to avoid being labeled exactly what they are, Statists. The progressives, and the liberals after them and now again with the moniker progressives have always stood for has been socialism and the empowerment of government. They offer programs which sound marvelous and all inclusive but these programs are all based on one simple concept, the government must be the provider of rights and all means of survival thus having the power to decide who lives and who does not. Gaining this power, despite the claim that they are empowering women, comes through in the abortion debate where the plans of Margaret Sanger remain alive and well within Planned Parenthood, to remove the unwanted types of people from the society through sterilization and abortion preventing their reproducing. This is also central in the discussion over euthanasia of the terminally ill and the elderly. What is almost always refused entry into this debate is the speed with which medical discoveries and breakthroughs are being made and how this will only become more miraculous with time and thus some who may choose to be euthanized may do so only to have their loved ones read of a new miraculous cure or treatment which could have returned their loved one to a productive and healthier life which could have continued for decades. The newest discussion in these areas has been the right of a parent to abort a disabled child after their birth simply because they are not prepared to make the sacrifices required by their infant’s disability or illness. Thankfully, this was not the custom when Ludwig van Beethoven who was almost completely deaf, and as such in his time was most definitely a difficult imposition on his parents. By the standards being touted today by the left, one such as Beethoven could be considered not worthy of the effort to be permitted to live.

While reading an article which took a slightly differing approach to the difference between the left and right, as stated in this article the difference was between Leftism and Americanism, an odd and not too sophisticated movie, which was amusing just the same, came to mind called, “Idiocrasy,” about life in the far future. We are not recommending rushing out to order this on Netflix or any other means to view it, that is unless you have some time to waste on puerile enjoyment and flatulence jokes used to set the level of the society and not intended to entertain. In the film, a not so intelligent soldier and a woman who volunteered for the financial reward end up in the 2500’s, where the society has all but collapsed due to government programs and regulations ruling every part of life and the general dumbing down of the population reaching its logical conclusion. The rest is unimportant beyond the fact that this is where every experiment by mankind has led to, or would given sufficient time, where the government gains total control over every facet of life, the means and methods of production and virtually everything is regimented by rigid regulations. Somehow, in Idiocracy, it led to humorous institutions run by ignoramuses where television shows of the basest variety are more important than working or virtually everything else. The world, by rule of law, is restricted to using an energy drink for everything for which Hashem gave us water and for some reason they are unable to grow food, yet everyone still eats. This comical look at a total socialist existence which had been in place for quite some time and where it invariably would lead is, in its own way, educating.

The reality of government dependence and reliance solely on the government to fix every little problem is that people will tend to lose their motivation to actually perform any actual service to the society. Socialism works well in small groups which have a common goal and where there can be societal shame used to motivate any slackers. Further, in a small group such as communes or the Israeli Kibbutzim, members who are not pulling their weight and have no specialized skills making them worth carrying are often invited to leave the group and try being shiftless elsewhere. Such a control mechanism does not function with such means as shaming in a large, metropolitan society where often people know absolutely nothing about their neighbors. Also, when the goodies provided by the all-powerful government includes housing, then those who are completely dependent upon the government for their food, shelter and all other necessities end up residing together where their way of life is the norm and thus shaming again is useless, or in this case, nonexistent. Currently, there are two shining examples of a completely socialist governance and where such leads, and they are North Korea and Venezuela. There is another item such societies posses, and that is a complete ban on private ownership of firearms. This makes the people completely dependent on government and with no power to resist any policy. They also make resisting anything the government may decide is necessary to continue ruling including deciding that certain people no longer have any right to exist. This can lead to the extermination of an entire group in any random basis such as the Nazi near extermination of European Jewry, and the Nazis were socialists, National Socialists. Currently, in both Venezuela and North Korea, people are starving and without their medications or any of the niceties of life such as toilet paper. Changing the leadership in either nation or infusing capital in an attempt to restart economic activity will result in throwing good money after bad as they will slowly grind their economic engine to a halt in order to serve government programs.

There is another oddity which we and some of our friends have discussed at length and come to what originally we thought was something odd, but later we reached some conclusions. The item we noted was that the people supporting leftism and the socialist agenda mostly resided in the larger cities while those who supported individualism, capitalism and such were those in the rural communities. This appeared perplexing, especially since we all resided in larger cities and would have politically stood with those from the rural areas, so obviously this was not a universal qualifier. We finally hit upon the differentiating factor, or at least we settled for this reasoning. Disclaimer, we are not necessarily the sharpest knives in the drawer. What we found was that in each of our lives, should something break or if we did not have the exact item needed to complete some task, we would improvise and get the item functioning or complete the job and then, when it was more convenient, we would go and get the correct item or fabricate some elaborate piece and actually repair or complete some task. This did not mean we would use a roll of pennies instead of a fuse in our homes, but we would wrap a gum wrapper around a fuse in something like a flashlight to get it to function when needed and later replace the fuse. None of us admitted to doing such with the fuse in a vehicle, but we all knew that at least some of us had probably committed such a not so brilliant fix. The people we all knew who were avowed leftists, and yes, we managed to remain friends with such people because they can be perfectly wonderful people and even good friends, until something breaks, but we avoided talking politics with them as we realized long ago that leftists must find their own path taking them off the government plantation. Truth be told, some of us were once leftists and have found our way to self-reliance. And that the term which most often delineates leftists from those on the right, is self-reliance. It actually comes down to do you at least try to repair things yourself or do you wait for a repair person to come and repair it because they were trained for such jobs.

We noted another difference which was less obvious and had a greater number of exceptions. What we noted was that most of the leftists worked either in a union, an office, or some regimented type of work where people were, to varying degrees, interchangeable while the more conservative people worked often in some form of repair or technical work and often for smaller companies where each person has their particular specialty which adds to the whole and all are able to perform multiple jobs required by their employers. What we were never quite able to get our arms around was why the vast majority of highly educated university graduates were almost all leftists, and the more education they had and the more advanced degrees they had attained, the stronger this attachment. This may be due to our age and the majority of these highly educated varieties of people we meet are often twenty or more years younger than ourselves. We also had noticed that the highly educated which were closer to our age were more likely not to be leftists and abhorred socialism. We might have fallen into the trap of believing age has something to do with political views, but we know far too many people our age who are committed leftists. These other descriptions appeared to be somewhat more accurate and telling.

George Orwell’s Animal Farm

George Orwell’s Animal Farm

We understand the concept of assisting the poor, especially those who have some disabling difficulty which prevents their being gainfully employed. Special instances must not become generalized privileges available to the general public at large. We understand the necessity for taking care of the elderly, but this too is not universal as there are those of advanced age who are still fully capable and there are some who prefer working to taking a government handout. It is for these people that we oppose age restrictions such as mandatory retirement age. Some people can be unable to functionally work due to age and other related injuries and complications at age forty-five while other people are still vigorous and fit at age seventy plus. One-size fits all rules are seldom a great idea as, in case you may have missed this, people are all different with different needs, abilities and desires. This is part of the problem when the government makes rules for the society; these rules are, by necessity, one-size fits all. What is interesting is that those who make these rules always find some means of excusing themselves from the same rules. The example which has always upset us and our friends was when regulations and rules were passed to make insider trading of stocks and bonds illegal, the legislators of Congress and their senior aides and advisors, you know, the people most likely to have insider information and even information even insiders do not have access to such as who is about to get the big defense contract, these people were exempted from all prosecution for insider trading. This should provide everyone with the answer as to how people after four years in an elected government position or high post for an elected member of the government become multi-millionaires when they were almost dirt poor upon entering office. Rules, what rules, we are the governing, not the governed, we do not have to obey the rules. Members of Congress cannot be ticketed for speeding or other driving violations as long as they are on their way to the office, that is another great rule which is just wrong. These are just a taste to get everybody upset. The other item you will see is even in Venezuela and North Korea the leadership and their friends and the military eat and live well, the closer to the leader, the better one lives. Socialism is all for equal treatment of the common people and not of the privileged people. Those who matter, matter and those that don’t, don’t, it is that simple. To quote George Orwell’s “Animal Farm,” “All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.” To that, we need add nothing as if you do not understand this, you will never understand socialism and the privilege of the governing, something relatively valid no matter the governance. All governments will tend to grow and once they pass a certain size, they are next to impossible to bring back under the control of the people as they have amassed too much power and the ability to know far more than is required to govern about every individual and more so once you become a person they find interesting, gain ballot access to Congress and you will find out exactly how interesting you can become. Thomas Jefferson stated, “The government which governs best governs least.” Unfortunately, the government which will govern least is the one with the least number of employees. When it comes to government, the first thing that matters is whether they are capitalist or socialist, the next is whether they are elected or some form of plutocracy, and finally, no matter what you have heard, size matters. After these three items, the rest can be diced out by the people for the government still belongs to the people and not the people to the government.

The Democrat Party has a Religion

This religion is something rather new and special. The most notable of its elite members include Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib who have been all the rage in the news as part of the latest “Year of the Woman” and two are members of the latest surge in leftist politics, the Democratic Socialists. This formerly fringe wing of the Democrat Party also had an impressive showing in state elections. The best known Democratic Socialist used to be Bernie Sanders, but with the success of the youth from the party, you can bet good old Bernie will be tossed onto the trash heap of history while these more newly minted leaders take to the fore. The Democrat Party itself has been slowly but inexorably sliding leftward as was made obvious by the impressive showing of Bernie Sanders in the Democrat primaries for President against Hillary Clinton. There have been claims, never echoed by Senator Bernie Sanders, that Hillary only won the primary election through cheating, slight of hand, party suppression and backroom deals and other shenanigans. Cheating in elections by the Democrats, who could have ever imagined such a thing. What is frightening is that these Democratic Socialists are not the only ones out on the farthest left limb of the political tree, they are joined by stalwarts such as Maxine Waters, Hank Johnson, Jim McDermott, John Conyers, Sheila Jackson Lee as well as some lesser known names like Kara Eastman, Susan Wild, Scott Wallace, John Fetterman, Jan Schakowsky, Pete Stark, Bob Filner and here are fifteen Senators who voted with Senator Bernie Sanders 95% of the time or greater; Sherrod Brown, John Kerry, Jack Reed, Sheldon Whitehouse, Patrick Leahy, Tom Harkin, Kirsten Gillibrand, Richard Durbin, Jeanne Shaheen, Ben Cardin, Frank Lautenberg, Jeff Merkley, Barbara Mikulski, Roland Burris and Ted Kaufman. These are all members of the Democrat Party in Congress who have bonafides as leftists; those so far to the left they cannot even see any Republican with whom they could share any positions.

Not to be outdone, over the years the Republican Party has slid leftwards as well and currently stands for issues more similar to any 1954 Democrat Congressional candidates than to the majority, if not all, of that year’s Republicans running for Congress. The entirety of the United States political structure has moved leftward and by doing so has alienated a large segment of the American people, especially the voters. This is partly why Donald Trump was elected President; he was the closest thing anybody had seen to a true, through and through candidate with core conservative positions. That brought out the vote from large, Yuge even, numbers of true conservatives as they were finally excited by the positions stood for by a candidate for President. What was another reason is they saw a conservative who knew how to fight like a leftist and who did not meekly hide from controversy and gave as good, if not better, than he got. This has infuriated the Democrats and especially their most leftist voters who came out in droves for the midterm elections. All things being even, the election was closer to a draw than a victory for either side. Trump improved his hold on the Senate which will permit his nominations to move forward while the Democrats took back the house which will place stumbling blocks before the President in everything he attempts to do and is also likely to bring charges of Impeachment against the President, charges which will die in the Senate thus they are mostly to satisfy the leftists demands that at least the charges be brought forward.

The real problem with those on the far left is that it is no longer a political position, as it has become their religion. Their politics has developed a dogma from which one may not deviate otherwise they will be ostracized and be shown similar dishonor as one would have shown any heretic who had been excommunicated in the Middle Ages. We have discussed how those showing up to the Chicago Dykes March in 2017 flying the Rainbow Flag with a Star of David emblazoned upon it were refused permission to march as they were opposed to BDS and the replacement of Israel with an Arab state, and how the next year at the same march they were again rejected while many marched with the flag of the Palestinian Authority. This leftist religion has as it basic belief structure socialist politics mixed with Secular Humanistic doctrine. They have taken the approved of political policies and intertwined them into one megalithic position which they call Intersectionality. Through this definition, the numerous approved political positions are protected from being denigrated by contamination of those unapproved political positions. Intersectionality rules out any political positions which support Israel even within the Green Line. This was decided by Tamika Mallory, Linda Sarsour and Carmen Perez, all supporters of Louis Farrakhan. Part of their refusal to allow anything Israel is anti-Semitism in its finest. Many of those who have adopted the religion of leftist political dogma demand that anyone who has a Jewish background take rabidly anti-Israel and anti-Zionist positions, sometimes requiring that they sign affidavits proclaiming their opposition to all things Israel. There is no other nation anywhere on or off planet Earth where any similar demand is made to refute any support one might have. That makes this entire Intersectionality and leftist positions and the Democratic Socialist wing of the Democrat Party squarely anti-Semitic because of these positions and demands.

Those who desire to join the Democratic Socialists and adopt their far leftist doctrine are entering into a quasi-religious order in which many of the membership are watchers who enforce the purity of mind and heart of all members turning upon any who have even a momentary slip and potentially taking a wrong position. They have strict codes of belief and dogma which makes demands that the members place nothing before the positions of their party hierarchy. Everyone is forced to support all the approved positions with the same exuberance as they have for their own most closely held views. They also are required to emote equal hate for every political position which is unapproved by the high priests of the far left. When it comes to President Trump, for him only the greatest rejection and animosity to an extent that they have uncontrolled bouts of antagonism bordering on violence against any television upon which his visage appears. Their religious celebrations are, in many ways, very reminiscent of the “Two Minutes of Hate” George Orwell’s novel 1984 where Emmanuel Goldstein has been replaced by President Trump or Israel; they are of relatively equal evils. Imagine the Intersectionality Temple where one prays through sheer unrestrained and unending spite is heaped upon the mere representation of President Trump placed before the pews. Here is where your true path to acceptance is won. This is where you make your commitment to support only those causes which further the liberation of those selected minorities who have been deemed downtrodden and where you take out the proper revenge against the Christian, white males as they have held power and suppressed all others. Here is where you can vent the purest of rages against the ultimate evil, the double whites, the Jews. This name was derived for the Jews in order to claim that the Jews are in the top one-percent even above the Christian, white males and as such require a special form of hatred.

President Trump and Intersectionality’s Two More Years of Hate

President Trump and Intersectionality’s Two More Years of Hate

Such revolutionary leftists believe that their positions in politics are always altruistic and truly rewarding for all people. Thus, they become the true elites who are the only people who fully understand all the intricacies which afflict our world allowing for them to claim that they should control all the levers of power and the wealth such that it can then be evenly divided allowing all to benefit. Needless to point out that those whose position allows for them to distribute wealth eventually will decide they require additional funds in order for them to avoid such theft. These self-appointed elites often do not understand why what is occurring is occurring and will make rash judgements eventually striking out at balancing the books. Often, such governance begins to collapse causing panic, as power structures become fluid and the money worthless. This scenario is exactly the one warned about by our functionary elites. The very policies demanded will bring our lives full circle and result in the collapse of the system through, more often than not, mismanagement of money, which is often the cause. Still, there are many a slip between the plate and the lips. Often this is the challenge which the make or break point where a fiscal response is required. Thus, in the end, every society will come down to money and how it is handled. In small unit societies, socialism can and will function quite adequately as everyone knows what job each person does and they will be able to hold each person accountable for completing their tasks. Unfortunately, the best group to have tried socialism only to have it fail were the Pilgrims coming to America from Britain. They initially used a system where everybody assisted with the farming and construction as well as any other jobs that required doing. Everyone shared equally in the food produced and use of the buildings plus having them work on additions to your house. Some people worked more diligently than others and soon they found they were coming up short in food and other material goods. They tried tweaking the system to no avail and finally had to try something drastic. They permitted each farmer the same size plot of land and everyone was to be allowed to retain forty or fifty percent of their grains and crops for their own families. This brought forth a bounty of crops to the level of excess. Human greed is a strong and powerful motivating factor. Anything which attempt to feed greed’s voracious appetite will fail but any system which uses the wants as a motivating and driving factor will succeed beyond anyone’s wildest dreams. But the Social Democrats know that they can employ Socialism correctly and their form, which is no different from that of others, will really produce beyond any capitalist’s dreams. We have heard this sirens song before and found those promises to be empty. The proponents of every world order imagine themselves as the benevolent ruler which is not as wonderful as it first appears, as it does not take into account those leaders who will follow after them. Such altruism is to be enjoyed warily for what the future will hold, but not necessarily a desired working model. Simply look into Jewish history where King David followed by King Solomon and Israel flourished. After that Israel suffered one catastrophe after another eventually leading to the destruction of the Second Temple and being dispersed throughout the Roman Empire and beyond in an attempt to end all belief in Hashem.

There are two ways to have governance which will respect the rights of all their citizens and provide the means such that they never stray too far from their ideals. The first is a nation based on a document which seriously reflects the ideal of the American Declaration of Independence and the government is structured based very closely to the American Constitution with the Bill of Rights and every half century the nation strips all the laws from the books, dismisses all the government workers, dissolves all the new departments not included in the initial founding and the nation starts again from scratch. There are new elections and those who held office in the previous half century are barred from returning to government and the same goes for government employees. This prevents the development of some form of governance within the government which is unelected, what is currently called the Deep State. The other is the one described in the Torah where Hashem is the true ruler of the nation and the people follow the Laws from the Torah. Should they decide to appoint or elect a king or other ruler, they would face serious limitations in their ability to gain wealth. Under Torah, those who seek to govern are required to serve the people and depend on the support of the people for their sustenance. In this way, good leaders whose prophesies prove true and beneficial are rewarded and the others find an urgent need to find a different occupation. Here to, there is not supposed to be hierarchal lineages as each King is to be anointed by Hashem and chosen by prophesy. Such governance required a people willing to live the life as defined in Torah with some modifications such as replacing animal sacrifice with providing sustenance for those who tend the Temple in Jerusalem and the people provide for the celebrations of the pilgrimage holidays. A Torah bound society is set around a more simple life but would actually still be a functional form of governance even today. All governments which are the product of human invention will erode from their pure beginnings leading to the problems seen today in much of the developed world where the governance has become bloated and unmanageable leading to government running wild over the rights and against the expectations of the people. There will always be the need for a reset taking the fat and waste out of the government regularly if it is expected to function and truly serve the people.

Sometimes Things Just Make Your Head Hurt

Are people really going to bring back idolizing mass murdering leaders like Joseph Stalin, more affectionately called “Uncle Joe” back in 1940s America? Apparently, they are if we are to believe the story from a Socialists, May Day, International Workers’ Day rally in Trafalgar Square in London. From amongst the parade’s extravaganza of signs, flares and flags, that is the impression we draw and what else could one believe (see images below). There really is not any different conclusion one could reach when viewing the scenes from Trafalgar Square in London. Labour Party supporters left little doubt as to their new heroes, and the direction they hope to take Britain. The May Day, International Workers’ Day rally appeared to be something straight from the Moscow original May Day rallies where people were volunteered to attend and look happy about the state of things. One might say they felt a tinge of nostalgia if it were not for the sickening knot they felt in their gut. Seeing banners of Stalin, huge banners of Stalin on display in London are not a celebration but a foreboding, a warning to all Britain of what is coming if the far left should win an election. This May Day, International Workers’ Day rally should be a wakeup call for every true lover of Britain who desires to try and salvage at least some of the beating heart of a proud nation for them not to allow such leaders to take to the fore in their political arena. Unfortunately, this is likely a muted call which will be drowned out with chants for “Uncle Joe” and his promise of a slice of pie for everyone and free everything off the backs of forced laborers and the return of collectivist farms and famine. Those were the hallmarks of Stalinist Russia and Ukraine, but that is history and nobody cares to learn history any longer.

One would think that such a march with Stalin brought to the fore would not shock us, after all youth have been wearing “Che” T-shirts thinking they were one of the kewl-people simply for wearing a t-shirt with a mass murderer emblazoned across the front and likely some feely-touchy slogan on the back all about equality, fairness and sharing (see examples below). For those who either do not remember or were never taught the reality behind Che Guevara, he was the executioner for Fidel and Raul Castro who took great pleasure in his assigned position. Che Guevara had received a medical degree in 1953 but after he became radicalized, he found that he preferred taking lives to saving them. He was the hatchet man for more than just Cuba as after he was no longer required in Cuba, Che Guevara assisted with communist uprisings in Congo-Kinshasa and later in Bolivia. It was in Bolivia where CIA backed anti-communists, also known as our butchers by the American government rather than the Soviet’s butchers, where Che was captured and found himself poetically on the other side of a firing squad. Che was born on June 14, 1928, and summarily executed on October 9, 1967, at the age of thirty-nine. Yes, we know he authored books on revolution and social equality and held positions other than official executioner and commander of the firing squads. One description of Che Guevara given by Ronald Radosh, a Hudson Institute adjunct fellow, as stated in “‘Che’ spurs debate, Del Toro walkout” in The Washington Times from January 27, 2009, “He took joy in killing counterrevolutionaries and was one of the most hard-edged, most Stalinist, pro-Soviet communists of the whole leadership.” This was the man seen on campuses across the developed world, image made larger than life and who holds a place of the grandest of illusions that Che was the best of the best and they ignore that this physician preferred killing to healing, that was the real Che Guevara.

Still, communism continues to hold sway and the far leftists always have the same reasoning for their desire to impose extreme socialist governance upon societies which are producing wealth and improving the standard of living over the widest range of the citizenry. But the socialist leftist revolution does not see this, they only see that some have great wealth and for them this is a crime, not an example to emulate. Their reasoning is that they know it has failed every time it has been attempted, but this time it will work as it is supposed to work because this time they are the right people who will make it work. They fail to see the basic problem with the entire formula which has two main problems. The initial problem is once the power structure is in place and they no longer serve any purpose, they will be discarded and if not careful, simply shot as someone who is no longer necessary but insists on continuing the revolution. They do not realize that the revolution is always about changing the people who have great wealth from those who produced items people desired to the leadership of the revolution, usually the top three percent of the revolutionary figures, the rest are executed or escape and live silent and wretched lives on the fringe of the new order. The other mistake is the formula of “From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs,” the formulation by Karl Marx in his 1875 Critique of the Gotha Program. In such a system, the intelligent choice is to have a great list of what you need and a short to nonexistent list of your abilities. Communism, or any form of extreme socialism, is based on limiting needs while forcing people to work as given the choice people will always have great hopes for realizing their needs but far less enthusiasm for working hard to realize them. Once a small percentage refuses to work but is still permitted to live at an equal level to those who work diligently and with great zeal and effort, soon the zeal wanes, the diligence become slack and effort goes out the window. This formula is doomed to fail as it works against the basic nature of people in a society. This can only function in a small group where everyone knows everyone else and thus slacking is immediately addressed by the whole group. Once the population gets large, there is no mechanism for shaming slackers, thus they begin to increase in numbers.

We may as well talk of why capitalism works so much better than socialism. The problem is people are, for the most part, greedy. We do not mean greedy as in avarice, but people want often more than they can reasonably afford. In socialist governance, they simply get on the waiting list and eventually they receive their desired items. Working for these items is not required because there is no connection between desires and work produced. Work is required according to one’s ability, and when one denies having any ability, in a large collective they get to skate. Further, if they are active in the ruling party and go to every party meeting, appear at every rally and show great enthusiasm, despite producing nothing of value, they will be rewarded simply due to their apparent enthusiasm, nothing more. Capitalism works completely differently. Capitalism realizes that people desire goods and services, often beyond their economic standing. Capitalism simply states that you will be rewarded for effort you make in providing something of service to the society. The more valuable your service or goods provided, the higher your reward. Higher reward means more goods and the one with the most toys wins. Greed drives production in capitalism, and that is the secret. Greed, desire for more drives one to produce more in order to be rewarded with more. The desire to acquire more items and live a richer life drives the individual to work harder and smarter. The desires are satisfied directly according to effort, not independent of effort as in socialism where as much as possible is made free for everyone.

But people still want something for nothing such as universal healthcare, free college educations, even free jobs created by the government simply to provide everyone with employment, not necessarily productive employment, just employment. When one adds in the fifteen dollar an hour minimum wage for these government jobs, many people making less will be quitting their productive work to apply and receive, automatically, these high paying government busy work jobs. They tried this in Mao Zedong’s China. One of the government jobs was mowing the grass in the capital city of Beijing. Each person was provided a pair of nail scissors and a six-centimeter ruler and was instructed to start at one end of a large multi-acre field of grass and to measure each blade and cut them individually all to two centimeters in height. When they finally weeks later reached the other end, they were returned to the beginning and instructed to perform the same job once more. This job employed one thousand people taking two to three weeks to finish the job once only to repeat their job endlessly.. The same job in a capitalist system would be performed by three or four people within a few hours with lawnmowers, powered clippers and an edging machine. Yes, the capitalist job would also require repeated performance of the tasks every three weeks or once a month as described in the contract. The complaint the socialists have is that capitalism makes for uneven wealth with themselves, the leadership of the political movement in the socialist camp not being the ones with the wealth. It is no accident that after the socialist revolt, the leadership suddenly becomes very wealthy and live lives of excess while those who had produced much to gain wealth are removed from the equation.

Joseph Stalin was a case in point. Stalin was a very powerful force for the Communist Revolution which placed Vladimir Lenin in the top position. Lenin was supposed to have asked Leon Trotsky to make sure upon Lenin’s death that Stalin never takes power. Leon Trotsky was a thinker and not a man of action and definitely not a man of violence. Stalin was all those things and Trotsky had to flee but was eventually settled with Stalin as he was murdered in Mexico by a Stalinist agent. Stalin was brutal and when the farmers refused to allow collectivization, Stalin sent the military and secret police to take all their produce for the cities leaving them nothing and starving them into submission. Many farmers continued to resist and were murdered. Soldiers who had fought particularly well in the revolution were rewarded with farms and told to grow crops for the revolution. These soldiers were city dwellers and knew nothing of farming and their lack of yields proved their incompetence. This lack of food production caused famine and in order to feed the cities and prevent another revolution overthrowing Stalin, he used the military and literally stole the produce of the now conquered Ukraine. Children who , out of starvation and depravation, would try to steal into the fields seeking dregs of the harvest were simply shot. The census takers were executed such that it was never to be revealed how many died in the Ukraine. What did Stalin care, these were not real Russians and his real Russians in the cities had to be fed and kept from turning against his governing. Stalin also began to place Russians into the Ukraine so as to keep the area under his control. These Russians were agents of the government and were rewarded with, what else, farmlands for their use. Needless to point out, this led to another famine. Stalin was estimated to have caused the deaths of anywhere from twenty million to sixty million people all included. Stalin was not the worst of the communist killers as that title falls to Mao Zedong whose numbers reach into the hundreds of millions. One telling of the story through essays is the “The Black Book of Communism,” a book contested by those defending Communism. One item many forget is that the Communists are only one side of the far leftist socialism, the International Socialist. There are also the Nationalist Socialists who some insist are right wing. The most deadly examples of these nationalist socialists were the Nazis, which stands for the National Socialist German Workers’ Party.

Europe has been drifting further and deeper into socialist governance with obvious results on the horizon. It is all spelled out in the Tytler Cycle of Power in Governance (see image below). There are those in the United States who also support socialist governance. An example of such a politician would be Bernie Sanders whose platform included national healthcare, fifteen dollar an hour minimum wage, free college education, and so much more as listed here. There are those who theorize that Communism could work provided it was applied to a nation which has a universal work ethic. This theory is most often used to claim that socialism would work in the United States simply because of the work ethic. It is believed that these efforts would continue unabated into the future. Where such a supposition might well hold its validity for those working at the time of the imposition of socialist governance, there is no promise it would continue into the following generations. The United States is already witnessing the youth expectations for a ready job waiting for them as soon as they receive their degree. Many have bought the idea that raising the minimum wage by almost doubling it would reduce poverty. In actuality it would increase poverty, cutting the numbers of minimum wage jobs by at least half if not much greater. Other results of such an increase would include many small businesses closing, automation wherever possible, a rush to produce AI humanoid robotic units, many workers who had pushed their performance simply to get a raise and a promotion now finding themselves back at minimum wage would be disheartened, the entire system would become broken, and lastly and the most oppressive result would be a general doubling of all prices as massive inflation would adjust everything to be in the same proportionality to the minimum wage, just adjusted for this level. Raising the minimum wage to fifteen dollars an hour would not produce any advantages, as within a year all prices would have reestablished their relative position to the minimum wage. For an example, let us assume that a fast food meal cost three times the hourly minimum wage, which with the minimum wage at $7.85 setting the meal price of $23.55. Now we increase the minimum wage to $15.00, what would you assume would happen to that cost for the meal? Initially it would remain the same but would very soon start to work its way up and up to $33.00 and then $40.00 and finally coming to rest at $45.00 if not slightly higher. So, within a year the average minimum wage paycheck would be worth exactly the same amount of money, but the people who own the businesses or have stocks in the large companies and especially those who own land and properties, these people would see a huge increase in their wealth and the end result would be an even larger abyss, a real chasm, separating the have’s from the have-not’s.

Tytler Cycle of Power in Governance

Should communism come to the United States through elections and the slow creeping socialism eventually overtake everything else, the same people will be in charge and giving the orders to the same people doing the work. The problem is with a higher minimum wage and free healthcare, college and all the other government giveaways, taxes would be raised on the working Americans resulting in even more being forced from the workforce as businesses tightened their belts and steeled up against the coming storms. In the end you would have approximately half the population not being productive yet receiving full benefits and the half that are working, many will not be putting their best foot forward after witnessing others getting their toes cut off for their efforts. Once the people feel the full effect of government removing the rewards for hard work and simply giving the exact same result to those putting forth no effort, that is when the workforce walks away from their jobs and the system once again will fail. This is what we can expect should the far leftists get their dream candidates into the White House. Should we assume that President Trump will be reelected and his Vice President wins a term, then it will take at least two and probably three Presidential terms for the leftists to turn everything around. The problem is after elected the same candidate twice to the Office of the Presidency, they would very likely declare themselves to be the Leader of the Revolution and President for Life. The highest officers in the military would already have been weeded with the conservative core removed and preening pretenders promoted in their place. These leftists already have pretty much a chokehold on the major cities which they regard as their own voting machines to wield as they see fit. They have taken over almost every school board and have control over the curriculums of their schools which currently produce Democrats sold on the idea of the socialist collective mentality where everything is produced by a committee where two or three people out of twenty perform all the work but everyone shares the glory. Perhaps the brakes will be applied in time, but eventually this will be the future. As we stated above and depicted, it is simply the way the wheel turns in the Tytler Cycle of Power in Governance, and there is no getting around this cycle by going the other way, that has been the proof of history. It is all very sad but true and so unfortunate. It is a result of urbanization as people residing in rural areas learn to do for themselves while those in the urban jungle learn to call a specialist. The differences are stark and spell the difference between dependence and liberty, serfdom and freedom, fear and courage, and finally living in a society best defined by some deformed and maladjusted confluence of George Orwell’s “1984” and Aldous Huxley’s “Brave New World” described musically by Steppenwolf’s song “Monster” as compared against the Bible and Plato’s Republic with the spirit of Charlie Daniels’ song “In America” describing an alternative. Socialism becomes slavery while capitalism encourages innovations. Innovations are the necessity of a healthy economic base and without innovation, a society faces stagnation, an evil which impairs progress and curtails all hopes for a better tomorrow.
