Only In Israel are Terrorists Considered Unarmed

United Nations Middle East Peace Envoy Nickolay Mladenov asked, “How does the killing of a child in #Gaza today help #peace? It doesn’t! It fuels anger and breeds more killing.” Well, apparently Nickolay Mladenov refers to Gazan teenagers who were likely flying Molotov cocktail bearing kites over Israel to loose aiming them to drop on farmlands, homes, civilian structures or IDF positions or one of a team manning the makeshift but potentially lethal catapults launching flaming balls over the border fence onto IDF positions to be unarmed, peaceful protesters seeking social justice. We are not surprised by such grandstanding and outright lies from any holding the position of United Nations Middle East Peace Envoy. We do wonder why somebody holding the title of United Nations Middle East Peace Envoy spends all their time demanding Israel surrender to every Arab demand while ignoring the minor slaughters going on in Yemen and Syria where hundreds are being slaughtered every day with some falling to chemical strikes killing numbers of women and children and other innocents who are not launching incendiary devices at anybody. Perhaps this might be because to attend to these human meat-grinders in Yemen and Syria as they do not provide nice five star Tel Aviv hotels on a pristine beach on the Mediterranean with five star restaurants and a great night life. Perhaps we should not fault somebody for preferring Israeli hospitality to investigating the killing in Yemen or staying in a hotel in Damascus or travelling to Douma to investigate the horrors of the aftermath of Bashir al-Assad’s butchery. Of course we have apparently forgotten that the United Nations could not care all that much about Arab on Arab brutality when there is one percent of the violence which involves Israel defending her border from masses promising to shred the border and rampage throughout the countryside to eat the livers and pluck out the hearts of Israelis. But the intents of these violent and riotous protests are completely peaceful and the Gazan protesters rallied on by Yahya Sinwar clearly espousing the murder of Israelis including civilians, as they are to continue on to Jerusalem while cutting a murderous swath across Israel.

Gazans Firing Makeshift Catapult

Gazans Firing Makeshift Catapult

We have an idea, a concept, for why United Nations Middle East Peace Envoy Nickolay Mladenov decided to take to Twitter and stir the pot for a simple and self-serving reason; the Gaza riots have been slowly winding down with less Gazans showing up each day and less showing every successive Friday afternoon, the time which Hamas has relied upon to carry the noise forward, he decided to give the rioters a rallying cry from Geneva (or Turtle Bay) and reaffirm that there are those on their side out in the world still watching and rooting for them. Without the rioting continuing, Nickolay Mladenov would start to feel useless as there might not be any further need or opportunities to blame Israel for the evils in the region. To claim that the United Nations is anti-Zionist, anti-Israel and potentially anti-Semitic, at least against Jews who are proud and support Israel, but not leftist Jews who are only cursory Jewish, only by birth, would be speaking the obvious. One need only examine the votes in the General Assembly when the Arab League or Arab Nations bring up a motion to condemn Israel and the vote most often results in over one-hundred condemning Israel, twenty to thirty-five abstaining and at best a dozen supporting Israel and use such as their measure. One might look to the United Nations Human Rights Commission which condemns Israel at ten times the rate as it does Syria, North Korea, Venezuela or other international hot spot of suffering. Research the recent decisions by UNESCO which has passed motions which could make one believe that no nation such as Israel even exists, and UNESCO likely would vote claiming it does not. We could move up and down the entire spectrum of United Nations committees, commissions, agencies and other institutions and one will find one after another which had done virtually everything in their power to declare Israel to be the nation causing the greatest harm to peace and tranquility in this world or the main cause of every disruption. We are only slightly short of surprised that Israel was not blamed for the eruption of Mount Pinatubo in 1991. Unfortunately, the United Nations is not the only body which defames Israel at almost every opportunity as the Arab League and European Union both give the United Nations a run for their money.

Now we can go to the good news. The Gaza rioting has lessened and has even been receiving less coverage within Israel. The reason for these riots has not changed which means that Israel can expect them to build over the final weekend leading up to the announcement of the moving of the United States embassy to Jerusalem. There will be any number of reasons given in the world media which mostly will not mention the moving of the United States embassy. They will claim that it is all about the Israeli occupation of Gaza. The problem is there is no occupation by Israel of Gaza as there are absolutely no IDF soldiers inside Gaza and no Jews inside Gaza and the ones who are causing the serious problems, crises and humanitarian presumed tragedies for the people within Gaza are all due to Hamas and Islamic Jihad using the materials allowed in for rebuilding Gaza to construct tunnels, bunkers and underground invasion points into Israel with some reaching into the civilian areas near Gaza before being detected as well as using all available funds preparing for their next rocket war with Israel which is not designed to defeat Israel but to drive the Israelis out as they wear them down with these assaults. Hamas has succeeded in making many people desire to leave the area at the first possible moment when they are able to escape, and those are the Gazans living in the horror of a terror state which cares more about using them as props in their world propaganda war on Israel and shields in their open warfare with Israel.

The Hamas governance in Gaza has little regard for the normal citizen residing under their rule which is evidenced by their not spending sufficient funds to provide them with electricity despite Israel already providing a large percentage of the electrical needs, but Israel is not connected to the entirety of Gaza or even Gaza City and thus many Gazans receive four to six hours of electricity per day. The Hamas government had not performed maintenance or repairs to their sewage treatment facility leading to raw sewage flowing through the streets when it overflows polluting the ground water making wells unpalatable. Hamas does provide full services and has some luxurious homes, hotels, shops, restaurant and a mall all reserved for the ranking members of Hamas, Islamic Jihad and the criminal gangs who run the smuggling tunnels from the Sinai Peninsula into Gaza while leaving the war ravaged areas in complete disrepair (see picture below). These areas which have been destroyed by the past wars are more often left with minimal if any repair and then are used in the next war to claim that Israel has destroyed far more than actually struck. After three wars with Israel, Hamas has areas which they can show reporters from the world media claiming that Israel has refused to give them the materials to repair, often leading to the United Nations and European Union and member nations demanding Israel allow tons more rebar, cement, concrete and other building materials in to permit the houses and apartment buildings to be rebuilt. Israel has allowed this aid in at least three times since the last war which lasted from July 8, 2014 to August 26, 2014 as well as since the previous wars, yet these buildings are still largely unrepaired but there has been much building of tunnels into Israel under the border fence (for dates in reverse chronological order, please see list at end of this article).

The Two Gazas with One Pristine and the Other Ravaged

The Two Gazas with One Pristine and the Other Ravaged

What do we need to take away from today’s article is easy and thankfully relatively brief. First is that Israel does not rule Gaza, does not police Gaza, does not have troops in Gaza, there are no Israelis in Gaza and despite the blockade, after inspection Israel still sends in as many as a thousand trucks of provisions per day which continued even during open conflict with Hamas such that the Gazans do not suffer more than absolutely unavoidable. Israel provides electricity, gas and water to Gaza despite their not paying for these provided services causing higher prices for Israelis for their electricity, gas and water. Simply stated, except when there is violence emanating from Gaza, Israel does as much as if not more than what any rational government would provide to relieve the suffering of Gazans. Hamas does their utmost to force Gazans into poverty and deny their own people basic services simply to fuel their war and terror efforts against Israel. There have been reports that if permitted to leave, some fifty percent of youth in Gaza, if they could leave, they would leave while more than 90 percent of Gaza Strip residents want to leave because of Hamas, Fatah spokesman Osama Qawassmeh said on Wednesday. Hamas is also attempting with their violent protests to breach the Israeli border and have masses of Gazans attempt to rush into Israel with intent to destroy and murder as much as they are able. The actual hope of the Hamas and Islamic Jihad leadership is for these mobs to cause some extent of damage but for them to mostly end up shot and possibly killed by IDF soldiers protecting the border and preventing damage to property and injuries or worse to Israeli citizens. One might ask why the leadership would desire having large numbers of the people they presumably care about killed. That has an easy but painful reason, they desire pictures of Gazans shot dead to plaster across the world’s newspapers and television screens and to take to the United Nations and European government all in an effort to turn the world against Israel and whip up as much hatred for Israel and the IDF as possible. Israel has been utilizing riot controls such as water cannons and tear gas to disperse or prevent having Gazans breach the border. When the border fence is threatened, the IDF will initially use rubber bullets but should the border itself be threatened, then just as any nation defending itself from invasion, they shoot live ammunition. What is being done in Gaza is preparation for an assault upon Israel with the border being breached and sending as many people, mostly young adults and teenagers, military age men, through the fence with the intent on destruction and also as shields hiding armed terrorists with AK-47’s and bombs for causing as much massive damage as possible. This and maximizing casualties on both sides are the main intent and Israel is doing whatever is possible to prevent the border breach as that will save the most number of lives, both for Israel and the Gazan people. What Israel is doing are acts she has been forced and these are acts with the intent of defending Israel and hopefully preventing a situation where mass casualties are inflicted upon Gazan citizens despite the plans of Hamas and Islamic Jihad.

If Only America Stopped Polluting

Every Global Climate Change model depicts the obvious cause and danger to the future of human existence, the addition of pollutants to the atmosphere. The polluting of the water and land apparently are of less importance though nuclear power appears to be problematic. There are those environmentalists who insist that nuclear power is the future and the solution to many of the environmental situations while other environmental activists believe that nuclear power is one of the most dangerous power sources possible. But the numbers of environmental protests which blame the United States for Anthropomorphic Global Climate Change are almost unbelievable. It must be that the United States is amongst the main producers of carbon pollutants from combustion of fossil fuels and producing immeasurable carbon footprint. This must be corralled before the planet’s fever gets any worse. Forget the coal fired plants sprouting up in China and much of the third world like crabgrass on a golf course. Those are of no consequence, the United States must be forced to live a more austere life. We know this because so many like Albert Gore constantly address protests for the addressing of Global Climate Change as they jet from one city to the next. All of the small people must stop driving, stop using so much electricity, stop living such pretentious and ostentatious lifestyles making austerity the order of the day. Imagine if the United States simply cut its carbon footprint in half, or even by ninety percent to satisfy the true fanatics, how much of that would serve to alter Global Climate Change.

The United States would, of course, no longer be the world leader in innovation or progress in power generation and carbon emissions reduction. The United States would be required to reduce its military to such an extent that border defense would be the limit of American might. The aircraft carriers would be required to be decommissioned, even the nuclear powered vessels, as would the submarine fleets. The Air Force and Marines would need to ground the vast majority of their aircraft. Made in America would become a brand of the past as manufacturing would be all but extinct. The Internet would need to be powered elsewhere as electricity would need to be rationed and cars outlawed. Yes, all cars even including electric cars as they get their power from electrical generation plants which use far too much fossil fuels if the United States were to meet what many are demanding be required reduction of her carbon footprint. After almost everything has been shuttered just to make environmental lunatic fringe happy and still Global Climate Change would run rampant. The problem is that United States may be the second leading nation in CO2 emissions behind China; their carbon footprint is far smaller when measured against GDP or population than much of the developed and especially developing world (see chart below). What the ecology fanatics and their abettors are not telling you is that of all the nations in the world, the only nation which would have met their supposed targets from the 1992 Kyoto Protocol Summit was the United States. What they will tell you is that the United States was never a signatory to the Kyoto Protocol but the other nations, especially the Europeans, did not meet the demands of the agreement which they signed. The other little truth they refuse to note is that such nations as China, India, Brazil, Russia as well as the entirety of the rest of Asia, Africa, South and Central America, Middle East and the world are not assigned any pollution, CO2 or other pollution targets and are permitted a free pass completely without limits or expectations. This is how the United Nations views the importance of controlling pollution limitations, that only the developed world has to meet any requirements and if they refuse to accept such limitations to their growth and economies then they are pilloried in the media.

CO2 Emissions by Nation

Carbon footprint and CO2 emissions are far from the only pollution despite it being the favorite discussion at these United Nations and other ecological summits. There is also water pollution, land erosion and land pollution. Landfills need to be refurbished and have been in many of the developed nations. One particularly fun use for reconstituted landfill is to transform them into five golf courses. The United States has also done wonders with their waterways, as has much of Europe. One particular pair of connected waterways which have been altered from their worst case scenarios in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s are in Ohio and have Cleveland in common. These waterways are the Cuyahoga River and Lake Erie. Lake Erie was so filled with nitrates and phosphates that it suffered from runaway plant growth which produced over-oxidized water where no fish or living beings of size could survive. The Cuyahoga River was devoid of fish and regularly caught fire, as many as thirteen were reported, due to chemicals, oil, sludge, industrial waste, sewage and debris from steel manufacturing, die casting, paint and dye plant and untreated water runoff. Both waterways were cleaned up and currently are two of the cleanest waterways in North America, if not the world, and are filled with a natural balance of fish and water plants and have become a fisherman’s paradise.

Cuyahoga River on Fire

Cuyahoga River on Fire

The developed world has made great strides in cleaning rivers, the air and reconditioned landfills into golf courses and found the means of using what was once trash used to pollute land water under landfills to now make electricity with clean burning plants in what the world would have thought impossible a mere half century ago. Yet the ecological ruminators would weave you a yarn about the world in which air pollution, water pollution and land pollution all are getting to the point where the end is nigh. Their story is rewarding in its colorfulness as they paint a developed world which requires to be brought to heel before their development ruins the world. They hold ecological summits where plans are drawn to force the developed world to reduce their carbon footprint until they would eventually demand zero carbon footprint and their return to their predeveloped stage while the rest of the world surpasses their might and claims their rightful place as the overlords. Unfortunately, the developed world has often failed to meet their projected targets which makes setting these targets a form of useless endeavor. Even though, the developed world already can produce additional power requirements with less carbon output than their previous technology. The same cannot be said about the rest of the world. The developing world continues to utilize the old technology of coal-fired plants which billow smoke and pollute the waterways. But this is but the smallest effect as there is one thing that China is currently performing which will cause far more damage to the ecology of the entire Mekong River complex. Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam all stand to suffer as China builds a series of dams with which to establish waterways over which to move goods with large ships to the sea and produce power for the entirety of the Mekong River length. The only cost will be the local fishing economy plus change the banks and depths along the river possibly leading to damaging the farming across the entirety of Southeast Asia. The particulars can be read at the source linked above.

What a Difference Media Perception Makes

We would all agree that dead civilians in a war zone are tragic but inevitable. We would all agree that militaries should take all reasonable efforts to minimize the threat and danger to civilians while continuing to strike military assets. Finally, we would probably agree that militaries should also take precautions in their movements and weapons placements and storage of armaments such that they allow for little or no threat of danger to civilians. But should we use different scales when deciding which military forces are taking appropriate efforts as different societies have different standards and place varying importance on the safekeeping of their civilians and about targeting civilians. That last one is a bit trickier and perplexing, right? Let us make it a little easier. Should Israel be judged more harshly for dead Palestinian Arabs when fighting Hamas attacks in a conflict with Gaza than the United States should be judged for dead Iraqi and Syrian Arabs in their fighting the Islamic State (ISIS)? Reading reports in the mainstream media one would believe that the Israelis intentionally target Arab civilians in Gaza while the United States has avoided civilian deaths in Iraq and Syria attacks. This is possibly because the mainstream media supports targeting Israel and attempting to display the IDF and Israeli efforts as immoral and lacking in any precautions against killing civilians while President Obama ordered strikes in Syria and Iraq had to be above all suspicions, completely moral and resulting in minimal civilian deaths. In a Reuters report“At least 352 civilians have been killed in U.S.-led strikes against Islamic State targets in Iraq and Syria since the operation began in 2014, the U.S. military said in a statement on Sunday.” That is correct, three-hundred-fifty-two civilians killed in United States led strikes since 2014, which makes for an average of approximately one-hundred per year or approaching ten per month. In another statement released and used by Reuters with photo credited as “AP Photo/Felipe Dana, File” showing residents carry the body of several people killed in airstrikes during fighting between Iraq security forces and Islamic State on the western side of Mosul, Iraq, statement released Sunday, April 30, 2017, the Pentagon said investigations conducted during the month of March reveal that coalition airstrikes killed 45 civilians, mostly in and around the city of Mosul. The Pentagon added that in each incident “all feasible precautions were taken,” but the strikes still resulted in “unintentional” loss of civilian life. There have been no explosions of editorials demanding explanations from the United States military or government demanding they make reparations or prove they had taken sufficient measures to prevent civilian deaths. There have been no calls for the United States to be brought before The Hague to answer charges for War Crimes and Crimes Against Humanity. How can this be and where are the Human Rights groups with highly inflated or differing numbers or an official United Nations count that also would likely disagree with the official Pentagon numbers claiming multiple numbers were in fact killed. Do not expect there to be any such events being committed against the United States. There also have been no reporters confronting American officers in headquarters or in the field demanding to know why so many Iraqi and Syrian Arabs have died and no Americans have died. Simply, you probably did not even know of these deaths until reading this article. Now comes the time to wonder why.

Let us return to the seven weeks from July 8, 2014 through August 26, 2014 and the Israel Hamas (Gaza) War. The numbers of civilian casualties released about this conflict varied greatly depending whose numbers you wish to believe. Here are the particulars; the Gaza Health Ministry reported 1,617 Palestinian civilians killed with 10,626 Palestinian militants and civilians wounded; the United Nations Human Rights Council reported 1,462 Palestinian civilians killed; Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported 761 Palestinian civilians with 428 uncategorized males aged 16-50 killed as well as at least 23 Gazans executed by Hamas. The Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs also reported that there were 5 Israeli civilians dead (3 killed directly by rocket fire, 2 died of heart attacks after hearing warning sirens), 1 Thai civilian in Israel killed and 87 Israeli civilians wounded. Granted, no matter whose numbers one uses, the number of Israelis affected pales in comparison and this was the number one question the mainstream media asked incessantly for an explanation. This had nothing to do with their lack of knowledge as to the answer, it had everything to do with painting Israel as a monster who worries about their own people but have no regard for the Arabs residing in Gaza. Many reporters acted as if Israel was directly responsible for the protection and care for the people in Gaza as if they were Israeli citizens. Almost none of them displayed any knowledge that starting in August 2005 and completed on September 9, 2005 Israel removed every Israeli, razed everything with the exception of the Greenhouses left for Gazans to use to produce crops and the synagogues as to have bulldozed them would have been a desecration and the IDF removed their last personnel. Those Synagogues were desecrated far worse in the ensuing days by the Arab Palestinians and the greenhouses were stripped bare and used to make weapons and rocket launchers, not grow crops. Hamas took control of Gaza in a coup lasting June 10 through 15 of 2007 and immediately reissued their declaration of intent to destroy Israel and kill every Jew on the Earth. All this history was ignored and the disparity in civilian deaths was the sole news worth reporting. Why was this, one might query.

Well, it was all about what one reporter blurted out in her moment of excitement and whose interview has been scrubbed from history, or at least the internet, where she actually asked, “Where are the dead Jews, I mean, why so many dead in Gaza and none in Israel?” Well, why not simply answer that very question. Despite the vast majority of Hamas rocket and artillery strikes targeting civilian structures to include largely schools, kindergartens, pre-schools, day care facilities, and residential neighborhoods, Israel was fortunate to have been protected by the Iron Dome Batteries which are one of the finest anti-rocket and projectile interceptors the world has ever seen. The Iron Dome determines the projected strike point of any rocket, artillery or mortar fired and if it will be close to any civilian or military built up areas it launches its interceptors, which has over ninety-percent efficiency in taking out its target. There was one major failure of the Iron Dome systems where three interceptors were fired at one of the Hamas larger rockets and all missed. This rocket was headed for the center of Tel Aviv and would have been catastrophic. The easy explanation was a huge puff of wind blew it out into the Mediterranean Sea in the last few seconds, or there is the description and entire story as told by the Iron Dome Battery in question of this incident commanding officer as we reported back when this happened in our article ”How to Fight Terrorist Fanatics Unless You’re Israel”. The reason so few Israelis died is because Israel has built shelters everywhere and requires all new residential structures to have a built in shelter in every apartment, home, row house, etc. as part of the building codes and when the sirens sound in any area the Israelis will drop whatever they are doing and head directly to their closest shelter. If an Israeli is out and does not know where the closest shelter is on their own, they are easy to find, just follow everyone else. Hamas, on the other hand, uses their civilians to protect their rockets and the launchers and often will call in women and children and place them on the roof of any building they wish to protect knowing the Israelis will not bomb such a target. Israeli pilots are required to call headquarters and get clearance before dropping ordinance and there are officers using drones to oversee most missions who will check the target before allowing ordinance release.

There were other completely ridiculous question asked by reporters during the Gaza War and here are a few samples. “Why does Israel not provide Iron Dome Systems to the Gazans?” and “Why has Israel refused to build bomb shelters in Gaza?” As we mentioned, apparently the reporters were not informed that Gaza, is for all technicalities, an independent country and Israel has surrendered all connections and ties to Gaza. The one Israeli connection with Gaza is the blockade, which is more of an inspection for incoming goods to assure that there are no weapons or military useable goods such as weapons grade steel, explosives or other dual-purpose items that could be used in a military means. Israel permitted tons of cement and rebar into Gaza for the reason of humanitarian aid to permit the rebuilding of the homes damaged in the wars. Well over three-fourths of these goods were utilized to build the Hamas tunnel and bunker system underneath Gaza and tunnels into Israel itself. These bunkers are also used to protect the Hamas and Islamic Jihad terrorist fighters but the Gazan civilians would be shot if they entered these bunkers as Hamas and the other terror groups desire maximum civilian casualties which they utilize in the media to paint Israel as a monster while pretending they are too poor because of the blockade to provide protection. What probably would surprise many to know is that Israel continued the daily transfer of aid into Gaza of food, medical supplies and other non-military aid in the tons of material per day. Below is a video of one such transference and here is an article giving the Israeli side and the proof of Israeli assistance to Gazan civilians including setting up a field hospital to treat injured individuals from Gaza. This was one fact which one would have thought might have attracted at least the slightest of curiosity with Israel sending tractor-trailer trucks by the dozens across into Gaza in the midst of a war and perhaps some wonder at how this could happen and not be shot at by Hamas. Well, here is a surprise, Hamas and Islamic Jihad would on some days target the aid deliveries and once it was of such a severe nature that Israel was forced to skip one day’s shipments, as the risk was too great. Additional aid was sent across the next day to make up for the loss of daily aid. What was truly amazing was the fuel was included in these shipments despite that Hamas could fuel their vehicles, as the fuel was also necessary to produce electricity. Even the electricity aided Hamas and the other terror groups but to deny Gaza electricity would have placed a greater burden on the people. Israel also continued to deliver electricity through the shared electrical grid and provided water, clean water, through the interconnected water system. Everything Israel had been providing to the people of Gaza before the war continued to be delivered as best as possible throughout the war and continued after the war. The reports of Israel starving Gazan or refusing them medical treatment are all propaganda spread by Hamas, Islamic Jihad and the anti-Israel mainstream media. They all know that they are repeating or stating lies but as long as there are those who choose to believe anything they are told that Jews are acting with malice and committed to evil deeds, then the terrorists, Arab sources and far too many in the mainstream media will all continue to feed these people grist for the mill.

People often ask what Israel could do to prevent these misfortunes from befalling the people of Gaza. The unfortunate answer is that Israel is already doing as much as she can to relieve any suffering by the Gazans. One difficulty is that Hamas will regularly refuse to permit Gazans from seeking additional and often-necessary medical treatment in Israel as that can be used to claim that Israel refuses to provide medical aid. The truth is when Hamas and other terror leaders’ families require advanced medical treatment, guess where they are treated? The answer can be found here, here, here, here, here and one possibly repeat here. Israel is not the monster reported all too often in the news. Israel cares deeply about her own people but also is concerned for the well-being of those who are her sworn enemies. This confuses many in the media so they simply paint a picture they can be happy with, not that the truth would accept. The aid sent during the war is likely one of the most positive proofs that Israel is anything but what is too often reported, sometimes in Israeli mainstream news as well. The truth is worth digging for even if one had to suffer through some news slanted in the other direction, sometimes getting a variety of views helps clear the vision. The diametric opposite treatments of Israel compared to the news about the United States and civilian casualties is striking. We do not mean to impugn the United States in any way as they too make the most honest of efforts to avoid civilian casualties.
