Save Me Your Holier than Thou, We Paid Our Dues; so You Cannot Demand Our Obedience

First we would like to thank those American Jews and Christians who donated to Israeli funds and other interests. We appreciate your visiting and spending your tourist dollars here. We do appreciate the fact that your advice is well-intended and that you only mean for Israel to be the best that is possible. We understand that your desires are for Israel to be the moral example for the world and for us to act in such a manner that everybody will love us. We also understand when you complain that our actions reflect upon you and often appear to make your lives difficult. We understand that sometimes you cannot find any way of defending some of the actions Israel uses and the methods by which we seek to preserve Israel’s existence. We are aware of why you are so furious over Israel’s new travel ban on those who view Israel as an “apartheid” state; oppose the Israeli “settlement” of the Jewish homeland; and fight to isolate and de-legitimize Israel by boycotting Israeli academics, speakers, leaders, and products. We understand that you view this in the same light as Trump’s temporary immigration ban on merely seven Arab states where vetting those arriving from these places is next to impossible.

We understand that you feel you would be a hypocrite should you so oppose Trumps actions and simply allow with a wink and a nod Israel to act similarly. We even understand those who have threatened to stop contributing to Israeli funds unless we act properly. Well, allow us to reply, thanks, but no thanks. Keep your monies if that is your desire and please end your endless preaching and demanding that Israel act such that you are comfortable with our actions. Contrary to your opinion, Israel is not around for you to wear on your bracelet as if it were a charm which you can display to your friends and say see how nicely they act always forgiving every slight and never ever taking a hard line against those who would kill every Israeli if only they had the weapons with which to do so. See how they try so hard to diplomatically resolve their problems with those who are launching rockets at their children’s kindergarten and fire rockets timed with the start and end of the school day. Aren’t the Israelis just the most liberal and caring people always taking in whatever refugees appear on their border even when many of them only come to commit heinous acts of terror and act belligerently, especially to the Israeli women and the elderly.

This is not going to happen and you are going to have to just settle for the fact that Israel is a nation like every other nation in that sometimes it will need to act in ways which possibly the majority of the world, especially when it is Israel acting so, will go into an uproar denouncing Israel and those doing so might include you or those you know. Sometimes you are not going to be able to defend Israeli actions to your leftist friends who love to point out how Israel is just as bad as every other nation. We know that such is a lie and those making those claims would demand Israel commit suicide and still would complain we were not giving enough. That is just too bad because Israel does act and plan to remain a viable nation able to defend her borders. This requires that these borders are defendable in the first place. That means that we are not going to surrender everything the world would demand of us. We gave away Gaza and that resulted in a disaster yet the world immediately pocketed that generous act of faith and immediately demanded we surrender Judea and Samaria to the same people whose last gift resulted in Hamastan on our southern border and a menace for Egypt in the Sinai Peninsula. Were we to repeat that mistake and the same happen in Judea and Samaria these very same people from the United Nations, European Union and nations around the world would demand we give away the Negev next as proof we wish to get along with the rest of the world. Well, if suicide is what is required to get along with the rest of the world, guess we will not be getting along and you will have to live with these facts such that we can live period.

There appears to be a growing existence particularly in the United States believing that Israel must run every decision past a select group of important people who are far more knowledgeable when it comes to policies and what would best serve their desires which Israel should be required to commit to such that they will feel proud to be considered supporters. Should Israel disappoint them, then the Israeli government should be replaced and these same self-serving people should be the final arbiters as to who should run the nation. Those with whom they disagree should be relegated into the minority and only those who are amongst the approved group of left leaning, two-state supporting, anti-settlement, secular, anti-orthodox politicians who would feel comfortable and are acceptable to the leftist wing of the Democrat Party should be permitted to run Israel. Well, that is not about to happen. Israel is rapidly becoming more religious and more Zionist than any of the average Democrat Party leadership could ever be if their recent convention and choices for leadership are any indication of their leanings. Any political groups which find leadership such as Democrat Party National Committee Chair Tom Perez and Deputy Chair Keith Ellison, both of whom have a record of anti-Israel activity and advocacy, are not possible allies of Israel and should not have any influence over Israeli political or military decisions. Those who would support allowing a Women’s March to be coordinated by pro-Palestinian, anti-Israeli Linda Sarsour and convicted Palestinian terrorist Rasmea Odeh are not capable of also claiming to be supportive of Israel. Support of Rasmea Odeh and believing her story that she was innocent of the terror attack bombing of a supermarket which murdered two young Israelis, twenty-one year old Leon Kanner and twenty-two year old Eddie Joffe, and injured nine others because her confession was given while in the custody of the Israeli authorities disqualifies them as being a supporter of Israel. Those who believe her claims of innocence and that she was sexually tortured as was her father for forty-five days before she confessed to her part in the terror attack has beliefs about Israelis which belie their claims of support for Israel. Yet these are often the people who scream the loudest accusing Israel of improper activities and then plead that Israel should be required to seek their approval before taking any actions political, military or other security actions. They are also the most shocked and astounded that Israel would take precautions without conferring first with their betters in the United States, particularly their betters in the leftist organizations such as Jews for Peace, Rabbis for Peace, B’Tselem, J Street and numerous other leftist, post-Zionist radical groups.

Much to the horror of these leftist detractors of Israel, the majority of the Israeli population does not agree with their demands that Israel sacrifice even further because peace is just one more sacrifice away, just as they claimed before Israel made the last sacrifice which they claimed that this time it would be the last sacrifice, not like the sacrifice before that which was also to be the last sacrifice as was the one before and the one before and that has been the story for the past twenty-plus years of Israeli final sacrifices for peace. After the Gaza debacle, the Israeli public completely has decided that they see real willingness and a different attitude from those with whom Israel is presumably supposed to be making peace. Mahmoud Abbas has refused to even meet with the Israelis; yet the world demands that Israel continue making sacrifices though the last two sacrifices, if not more, have not been returned and instead have been rebuked and met with claims that whatever sacrifice Israel made was insufficient and until and unless Israel is ready to fall on their sword, then nothing less than suicidal retreats will suffice. Those who claim that such sacrifices are not out of the reasonable sphere are not friends of Israel and are simply seeking to make points as being the greater leftist making the greater demands for Israeli sacrifice than the next leftist. Israel cannot meet the demands from every corner as doing so would be the end of the Jewish State. Israel is not going to commit to being suicidal and will act in the way best suited for continued health and existence of the Jewish State and will refuse those ridiculous demands of the United Nations, European Union, and others whose demands are of a similar nature.

Now to get down to the reality and truth of the matter which may be painful for some but, for the most honest, these revelations will come as no surprise as they have known that their views have drifted further and further left and with that drift so have their demands of Israel in the face of the Islamic escalating animosity and belligerence towards the Western World in general and Israel in particular, even more so than the United States. Israel sacrificed in making the Oslo Accords after Yasser Arafat duped the world into believing he had reformed from his terrorist days which included the attempted overthrow of the government in Jordan, the eventual weakening and Islamification of Lebanon and the start of the Lebanon Civil War and formation of Hezballah through his actions. Even after the Second Intifada about which came proof that it had been planned even before Arafat went to hold talks with Israel with President Clinton at Camp David and then in Paris where he already planned the violence such that he could blame it on Israel for not surrendering completely at the negotiations. What Arafat had not planned on was that after he gave President Clinton his word that he would accept a set of terms he deemed beyond Israeli comfort levels that Prime Minister Ehud Barak would agree to his demands for close to ninety-five percent of the West Bank, land swaps, and half of Jerusalem in order to make peace. The next morning when President Clinton planned on finalizing the deal and collecting signatures, Yasser Arafat stormed from the meeting with Secretary of State Madeline Albright chasing him down the hall to no avail.

Israel has made concession and sacrifice one after another with nothing to show for it other than the world expecting more from Israel to the point of demanding Israel make sacrifices simply for the sake of having Israel sacrifice with nothing offered in return. This led to the Gaza giveaway where all of Gaza was surrendered by Israel, over eight-thousand Jewish lives turned upside-down being ripped from their homes, their livelihoods often destroyed, their greenhouses turned over to the Arabs who tore them apart to make rockets and launchers, and then soon thereafter the Palestinian Authority surrendered the Gaza Strip over to Hamas, Islamic Jihad and giving a beachhead potentially to Iran on the Israeli southern border. Since signing onto the Oslo Accords where Israel was promised to retain Area C and all of Jerusalem and the Palestinian Authority was granted semi-autonomy over Area A which would lead to their being given Area A as the central lands for their state while Area B would be mutually governed and deliberations would decide where the eventual border would stand to the current situation where the world is demanding that the Arabs be given all of Judea and Samaria, half of Jerusalem and that Israel accept many hundreds of thousand Arab refugees and there are those who demand Israel accept millions of Arab refugees and that all of Jerusalem resulting in not just a single new Arab state but two new Arab states and the death of Israel and likely the extermination of another six-million Jews as the world would again refuse to permit them to emigrate to their shores and to relative safety. This is why Israel can no longer simply bow to every demand and whim which passes for the newest idea which will bring peace and instead decide what will allow Israel to keep peace through sufficient strength and control of strategically significant positions. These vital points include potentially all of Judea and Samaria as the Palestinian Arab population becomes virulently anti-Semitic and more militarized to the point they are becoming a threat to Israel’s continued existence.

This is the reality and as things worsen it will become even more of a necessity that Israel reestablish complete control over all of Judea and Samaria; and if that should also require the removal of the Arabs which are known to be militantly anti-Israel and anti-Semitic, then that is what will have to be. The current government would never likely permit such an eventuality, but that does not mean that such would not become necessary and that a future government would remain so intimidated by the world’s leftist largely in Europe and the United States. The threat that Israel will be hated if it does not comply with the next round of demands no longer frightens the Israeli population as they have learned that being hated is not necessarily the worst of all things, ceasing to have a defendable border and a safe place in which to live is far worse and if being hated becomes the price for survival, we will take survival, thank you so very much. We understand and have learned how easy it is for others, even Jews who claim to be our fiercest supporters, to demand that Israel surrender to her enemies and how doing so can make these people feel so superior and good about themselves and how it allows them to claim they are such great supporters of a peaceful solution to the Palestinian situation and how they are the most compassionate. We also are learning how to simply say, “No!” And when “No!” does not suffice, then how about we say, well, let us say we say, “No!” even louder and possibly with a few superlatives added to the mix. And when that fails, as our saying “No” always has, then we will just have to let our actions be our statement, and that we are sure will suffice when that hard day arrives. The problem is the more the world demands the indefensible of Israel the more they make peace impossible because the Arab world stands assured that the rest of the world will hand them the Jews and not even blink when they slaughter the Jews by the millions. They observed the world’s lack of concern during World War II and learned that the world does not care if there are those who wish to murder Jews. They also learned that the world does not much care who is being murdered as long as the murdered are a minority who is not one of them and that includes Yazidi, Kurds, Roma and close to any other group which is too small to defend themselves or cause the rest of the world to care.

Even nations do not always get a response when they are gobbled up; just ask Czechoslovakia, currently Slovakia and the Czech Republic which probably means there are two nations which can be swallowed without the world getting even the slightest indigestion as they have not learned from history. One last warning should go out to all the Balkan nations, the smaller nations at the eastern end of Europe closest to the Russian border and the countries of Southeast Asia near China (which is all except India); the world will not care when larger entities swallow you whole or even wholesale because their only concern is are they still feeling safe. It is only when the major nations, which the world has fewer of these every year as now nations such as Spain, Romania, Syria, Yemen and by now even Kuwait are no longer worth going to war over. Should Iran be the nation taking one or more of these nations, not to include Saudi Arabia, and already have tested large nuclear weapons proven to be deliverable by their displayed ICBM capability, then many might complain and call on the United Nations, but none would do much if anything. Thus, any idea that one could expect others to come to the aid of Israel is ludicrous and thus Israel would be left hanging to fend for herself? The world is not getting safer by the hour but far more volatile and dangerous, so please do not fault us for noticing and acting accordingly. You want to hate us, and we would rather you have us to hate than you to have once loved us and now hate our having passed and fallen.

Jewish Americans and Love of Israel

Way, way back in another era during the Six Day War in my public high school teachers had two choices for that week, have the television on whatever channel was covering the Arab Israeli war or have an empty classroom. The choice was that simple. Teachers who had the television tuned to the news coverage had classes filled to the brim on the first two days as students simply reported to school and went directly to the classroom they knew would have their agenda correct. My high school was close to 80% Jewish and the remainder skipped school if they were not interested in the war as they knew there was no taking roll, as anything that organized was hopeless. By the end of the war virtually every classroom had the news on and the teachers had caught the fever of realizing that we were learning something, we were learning politics and watching a historic event, and it had proven so. That was then and this is now, almost half a century later and even in a public school with such a high percentage of Jewish students there would likely be almost no interest in such events. A school of Evangelical Christians would be more likely to be interested in events in Israel. Don’t get it wrong, there are many Jewish groups and charities which assist Israel, but as an issue Israel has proven to be a disappointment to most American Jews, especially those Jews on the left; the further left the less they care. Such a disinterest explains why the Democrat Party could not get the votes necessary to place belief in our Creator into their platform and had the same difficulty with having a statement supporting Jerusalem as Israel’s capital city. The Republican Party had no such difficulty as they placed both in their platform easily while the Democrats had to pretend they got the votes on their third try despite the obvious lack of support. Claiming things have changed would be a horrific understatement. So, what happened?

The first item has been a change in the Jews remaining in the United States. The majorities of Zionist Jews have made Aliyah and are now residing in Israel full time or between Israel and the United States for a number of others. In many cases entire families made Aliyah leaving no or few relatives behind. Also the Baby Boomers were mostly the last generation to have a sizeable percentage of Jews who were Zionists and either they are in Israel or their lives having moved onto other items of importance squeezing out their desires to move to Israel. You ask any of the majority of American Jews where is the best place for a Jew to live; their answer will be the United States and if then asked why, their answer is that it is the safest and best place for a Jew to be happy. If pressed on Israel, they may say that is a nice idea and they will mean it is a nice idea like having a car wreck and surviving is a nice idea. In many cases it comes down to one of two things or some combination. The first is they believe Israel to be a very dangerous place from all the news about terrorism and wars all around the Middle East and the potential for Iran to attack or have Hezballah attack possibly using chemical weaponized warheads. The second and more honest answer is that they have no desire to even visit Israel as Israel to them is a horrific embarrassment and is full of these crazy right wing nationalist, they might even say fascist, crazies who want to take over everything and refuse to make any concessions for peace. The fact that Israel is the only side to have made even a single concession, not to mention made all of the concessions thus far, this truth does not register and if you were to make the point they would ignore you or call you a liar and apologist for Netanyahu.

Many American Jews will never ever be able to forgive Prime Minister Netanyahu for opposing President Obama so vocally on the Iran Nuclear Deal and doing so with such public affect as possible addressing a joint session of Congress. Never mind that Netanyahu’s address was made all the more public by the antics of those supporting President Obama and vocally stating their intent to boycott the speech. The Jews actually worked to reelect most of these Congresscritters. They saw his speech not as protesting and representing Israel, instead as his having shown bad manners and being ungrateful for all President Obama has done for Israel. Even telling them, showing articles that prove the facts, that President Obama and members of his administration have compromised at least three strikes Israel had planned for destroying much of the Iranian secret nuclear facilities does not faze them in the least. These dastardly undercutting of Israel included exposing cooperative nations causing them to back out as these were Islamic nations and finally promising to shoot down any Israeli aircraft found heading towards Iran using all Iraqi and naval deployments of anti-air assets. The United States placed their entire military, industrial complex, CIA and military intelligence units, and diplomatic core all against any Israeli plan to address the Iranian threat to Israel, Europe and the United States as well as their using nuclear weapons as an umbrella sheltering their terrorist forces outside the nation.

The claim that Iran is only a threat to Israel and would never plan to strike the United States denies one crucial piece of information. Why is Iran continuing to develop multi-stage warhead carrying rockets and missiles as they have many rockets and missiles they can have strike Israel. Iran has no need for two and three stage Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles (ICBMs) to strike Israel, these are only necessary to strike distant targets such as the British Isles and the United States and other potential distant targets. Their developing such warheads should trouble President Obama but all the President cares about is pushing any and every problem down the road and eventual first strike nuclear weapons will most certainly be a part of Iran’s future game plan. The sole concern of the President is to make sure when everything falls apart he will be long gone and only the alert will count President Obama as the gift that just keeps on giving. During his eight years in office he was integral to the Nuclearization of Iran and the new push by Islamists to control Europe and the generalization of the Shiite Sunni war spreading from Syria on to Iraq, Libya, threatening Egypt in the Sinai and empowering Iran and through Iran Hamas and Hezballah. Additionally President Obama is more than an observer in the making of the Islamic State but it was directly due to his dithering and fiddling away the power and influence in the world that used to be held by the United States in preserving order and instead the United States took an eight year vacation completely vacating her self-defined responsibility as the adult on the block. As everybody knows, when the adult leaves the house the children will run wild and the pets will get into everything taking special attention to anything they believe is edible and spreading it liberally around the house. Hopefully the Americans will awaken to their real role in the world and elect somebody credible, oh, wait, they already threw that option out during their little temper tantrum during the Primaries while the other Party simply promoted the inevitable one and it is almost difficult to choose between them. The choice is the walking temper tantrum against the crooked last mile on its way to prison.

Meanwhile we have an actual difference when we look at the race as on things Israel Trump is clueless but he did appoint a pair of decent advisors to advise on all things Israel and Middle East, Mr. Jason Greenblatt and Mr. David Friedman. This is a far cry from the record of Ms. Hillary Clinton who has in her record one of the most destructive relationships with Israeli elected leaders of any Secretary of State including Secretary of State James Baker who was the first American official to negotiate directly and officially with Palestinians and the first senior U.S. official to leverage American aid to Israel in an attempt to halt Israeli settlements. On top of this was his reasoning summed up in one infamous quote, “F%&k the Jews, they don’t vote for us anyway.” One special Hillary act was kissing Ms. Arafat immediately after she gave a speech accusing the Israelis of handing out poisonous candy to Arab children and Israel was using poison gas to pollute the West Bank’s water and land. Ms. Clinton had also stated during a video linkup speaking to a group of Israeli, Palestinian and Jordanian teens who were members of the Seeds of Peace group, Clinton stated very adamantly and clearly her position on Israel’s future and the question of Palestinian Arab statehood, “I think it will be in the long-term interests of the Middle East for Palestine to be a state.” Still, we feel we can safely bet that she will receive well over three-quarters of the Jewish vote come November as for too many American Jews being a leftist and a Democrat is far more important than being Jewish or remembering Jerusalem. Despite at least half would know the Biblical quote from the Song of Babylon, “If I forget you, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget her cunning. Let my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth, if I do not remember you, if I do not Jerusalem above my chiefest joy.” Well, they may not recall the entirety but probably would get it mostly correct up to “right hand forget her cunning” and maybe even including “let my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth,” but no further. Additionally, Hillary Clinton’s long time special aide, and she is the wife of disgraced former congressman Anthony Weiner, Huma Abedin is yet another Arabist and anti-Israel advisor close to Ms. Clinton.

Closing comments are simple and to the point. Israel is a non-issue with the vast majority of Jewish voters outside of the Orthodoxy. The average Leftist Jew cares more deeply about gun control, free abortions, same sex marriage, United States as the greatest polluter of the Earth and any number of false or misleading lies masquerading as serious issues and they further find Israel with its nationalism and pride in being Jewish as over the top and disgusting. Jews are supposed to be compliant and seek the path of least notice and keep their heads down. Israelis charge towards danger and do not shy away when challenged and that makes the American Jew frightened as it means more people might look at them as well and that is the most frightening thing. One thing for sure, they will likely not see what is coming and coming fast until it is too late, but at least this time the doors to Eretz Yisroel are in Jewish hands, not British; so these doors will remain open for there are two things Israeli and American Jews have in common, we are both Jews and we love our brothers and sisters with their faults. As without their faults, loving them would be far too easy. Now it is true love because we forgive their voting with eyes fully shut.

Ya’alon Backhand Slaps Bibi and Israel

The dust-up in Israel started small, as these things almost always do, then grew exponentially before exploding onto every newswire almost as fast as the anti-Zionist, anti-Israel and anti-Semitic haters were twittering and alternately flooding the electronic air salivating at their fresh meat which was falling into their laps by the minute. The initial comment was made by IDF Deputy Chief of Staff Yair Golan commented at a Holocaust Remembrance Day memorial. The unkempt and unacceptable comment made all the worse by coming from IDF Deputy Chief of Staff was, “If there’s something that frightens me about Holocaust remembrance it’s the recognition of the revolting processes that occurred in Europe in general, and particularly in Germany, back then – 70, 80 and 90 years ago – and finding signs of them here among us today in 2016.” There were reactions to the statement but nothing for reporters to write home, or the office, about as the General backtracked off and claimed he worded his comments poorly. That would have been the end of it had it been allowed to die a natural death but such was not to be the case.

Prime Minister Netanyahu made a discreet demand that military officers, security officers and other ranking security personnel, and double for the general staff, need watch their comments and be wary that what they say could be harmful for Israel. He did not call General Golan out or place him on the carpet for a dressing down, just a quiet semi-public statement. Then the Defense Minister felt he should defend the honor of his general staff. The thing is that too many high ranking military and security personnel both still in service or recently retired have made references equating Israel to many unsavory references such a Nazis amongst others. Ya’alon calling for the Generals and other officers to speak their minds even if everything they say runs contrary to the ruling government positions. This was an assault made directly challenging the Prime Minister which would normally have that Minister not only removed from his position but removed from the Likud Party and any government position with the ruling coalition. Instead Prime Minister Netanyahu offered Ya’alon the position of Foreign Minister after removing him from his position as Defense Minister which was to be given to Avigdor Lieberman in exchange for bringing his Yisrael Beiteinu Party into the coalition strengthening their hold on power and making it a little more secure. Ya’alon refused the change of ministerial position and instead left the government but it was his parting statements made to the media which were the makings of a disaster and a scandal.

Avigdor Lieberman Bibi Netanyahu and Moshe Ya'alon The Love/Hate Boat Cruise Line

Avigdor Lieberman Bibi Netanyahu and Moshe Ya’alon
The Love/Hate Boat Cruise Line

Of Ya’alon’s parting shots, the first was used as an initial shot across Prime Minister Netanyahu’s bow stating, “To my great regret, extremist and dangerous forces have taken over Israel and the Likud movement.” This was his follow-up Benjamin Netanyahu claiming his having a, “lack of confidence” in the government’s ruling coalition, the Prime Minister’s decision-making and morals and fearing the coming cruel submission of the officers in what he had come to view as his own Israeli Defense Force (IDF). Perhaps that was where the problem really began, Ya’alon saw the IDF as his own personal friends and was more to serve him and be his political weapons to use to ascertain the leadership of Likud and being the new Prime Minister. He apparently had it all figured out except for the part where the military does not set policy, it carries out policies given them by the government and serves the people of Israel, all of them. But Ya’alon was nowhere near finished with the attacks. His next whine complained stating to the delight of all IDF and Israel detractors, “I fought with all my might against manifestations of extremism, violence and racism in Israeli society, which are threatening its sturdiness and trickling into the armed forces, hurting it already,” We are not quite sure what Israel he resides within but the people we know hold no animus against anyone or any group unless some individual has committed an act of unfounded violence against others as such a person would be a pariah here just as it would in almost any civil society.

This was far from the first time a conflict was spawned by IDF Deputy Chief of Staff Yair Golan; as back in 2006, IDF Deputy Chief of Staff Yair Golan said it was “intolerable” that Israeli soldiers place Palestinian civilians in harm’s way instead of themselves: “In the presence of civilians we take risks upon ourselves, and rightly so. It’s unacceptable that in the name of preventing risk we would decide that now we are going to mow down an apartment building. You would kill women, children, those involved. It’s intolerable.” The item about Minister Ya’alon’s statement is that, as he was a member of the government and in the Cabinet of the Prime Minister, everything he said was news worthy and considered important. When a Defense Minister supports statements made against the ruling coalition the media properly takes note and this makes the coalition weaker and weakens the Prime Minister. Such a statement would have been denounced even if stated by the leader of the opposition as such a statement against the Prime Minister meant to weaken his hold on power and directly challenging him is asking for the full weight to be brought against one. Now, in the end, Prime Minister Netanyahu survived this assault and potential hostile take-over of the government with graceful style and also strengthened the ruling coalition by adding the Yisrael Beiteinu Party to the coalition adding to the original slim margin making the defection of one minister less of a challenge. By also offering Ya’alon the position of Foreign Minister, Prime Minister Netanyahu was offering to lessen the blow of the removal from Defense Minister and was providing Ya’alon a promotion of sorts and a higher position according to many sources. This was not as much a declaration of disrespect of Ya’alon as he has now made it out to be but rather carefully guiding him within the Inner Cabinet from Defense to Foreign Minister which while bringing in another coalition member strengthens the coalition and this government definitely now is stronger for the shake-up.

Still there are some worrisome things worthy of note. The fact that the military had taken upon itself the mantle of ruling through media releases, embarrassing members of the Government and were very quickly running amuck was evidenced further by this entire incident. There had been previous attempts by leftists high in the military to rule or embarrass any government which was not to their liking and these moments had the gleeful coverage desired from the leftist media in Israel, Europe and beyond. One example as the chief of staff of then Israel Defense Forces, Gadi Eisenkot, in a lecture to high school students recently warned that “the IDF cannot speak in slogans such as ‘if someone comes to kill you, arise to kill them first’ (an edict taken from Talmud and reportedly used by rightwing supporters and not of the current government which has been quiet until recent about such statements, a potential mistake)” and said “I don’t want a soldier to empty a (rifle) magazine on a 13 year-old girl with scissors”. What is the effect of Eisenkot’s statement on an already anti-Semitic global public opinion, which daily charges Israel of a “disproportionate” response during the Third Intifada?

Ya'alon and General Staff

Ya’alon and General Staff

Such statements and other actions made by these upper echelon leftist officers follow the same path as did the Oslo Accords, the Roadmap and so many other attempts which take the form of placing Arab Palestinian demands and stipulations above the interests of the people of Israel and especially those residing in Judea and Samaria, then ceding lands to their control removing any Israeli claim no matter the correct and historically significant the Jewish claims to such lands and finally handing them excuses for murdering Jews before the international and often antagonistic media. Such insubordination while supported and loved by the members of the European Union and the individual governments as well as those who are backing efforts from the far left and right in the United States to tear down the relations and deep ties between the United States and Israel was a welcome series of events. The anti-Semites had a field day with comments such as those quoted above and will continue to take such statements to heart as they hurt any Zionist or Pro-Israel group. The IDF should have seen their ranking general staffs decimated as a cleaning out is in order should the Prime Minister desire to remold the military complex with generals more sympathetic to the Zionist cause and more in line with the government as many of these generals were likely left from when promotions to the general staff were made by left-leaning governments and are paying their empowering interests back in spades.

Whether the Prime Minister takes any moves to alter the General ranks is up to him and those he trusts. At least one excuse making, surrender firsters is no longer within the government poisoning it from within. We can all expect Ya’alon to continue and fulfill his threat to return and take power in the future, whether from within Likud or as head of a new faction was left unclear. It would not even be surprising to see his name as a new leader within Tzipi Livni’s ranks and her seemingly moribund Party. Wherever Ya’alon crawls off to, if it is outside of Likud or even if he remains in Likud it should be expected that he will join those unsavory post-Zionists who likely believe that Israel should be an open democracy as even should the Arab Islamists take control of the government they would be unable to remove the Jewish population and would rule in a similar manner as do current governments as the Constitution, a non-existent constitution which they likely were referring to the Basic Laws would still allow for freedom of speech, religion and all the other trappings of the Israeli multicultural society. There would be no problem if the Islamic State and Hamas came to power as the laws would constrain their actions. Yes, sounds simply Kumbaya and a few other campfire songs from summer camp back when we were all younger and dreams were large and Israel even less in size and was supported by the left as a socialist paradise. Israel is still a paradise with quite a few problems of which this is just one of the most damning to come to bear against our existence. We have survived as more diligent heads come from all sides with a clear vision of the threats; it is simply Ya’alon and a number of perfumed princes playing at general staff position who are necessarily a threat to each and every last one of us. That is our dog in this fight and we should never forget the extents that the leftists went to overthrow the elected government here and that was truly frightening. Slowly but inexorably many holding these positions are being removed from their seats of power and in time we may be in a different and better place and many here can hardly wait. Such is life here in Israel.
