Trump Said Go Slow, not Stop Altogether

Let us start with a direct Trump quote on the whole building in Judea and Samaria, particularly in Area C which rightfully all but belongs to Israel according to the Oslo Accords. President Trump stated, “I would like you to hold back on settlements for a little bit.” This was reported back on February 15 2017, and included the advice to “wait for a deal” and since that statement there have been some earth-shaking developments which have revealed truths putting any hope for a deal completely torn to shreds. But for the sake of clarity, let us review what has gone down since Netanyahu had that, which was for me, upsetting little discourse before the White House press corps and the world. So, let us begin.

There was the wonderful virtual stomach-wrenching adoration affair soon after with President Trump speaking of promises and other great and wonderful results which were to come from his meeting with Mahmoud Abbas. Then there was the statement by Abbas where he blatantly lied stating, “Mr. President, I affirm to you that we are raising our youth, our children, our grandchildren on a culture of peace.” Abbas claimed “And we are endeavoring to bring about security, freedom and peace for our children to live like the other children in the world, along with the Israeli children in peace, freedom and security.” Netanyahu’s reactions came upon President Trump’s visit to our region after his historic meetings in Saudi Arabia. He took the opportunity to show President Trump evidence, which revealed the lie completely and compellingly, likely using video materials similar to those we have included below, with each starting with Mahmoud Abbas lying to the President of the United States’ face. (In these videos, there are some mistranslations as they report them as saying Zionists when the word heard is “Yahud” which translates to “Jew”). Reports came after his meeting with President Trump and presenting him with information his own advisors should have had the duty to inform him about. The fact that it took Netanyahu to show President Trump the truth that put to lie his statement affirming that they “are raising our youth, our children, our grandchildren on a culture of peace,” is frightening as it shows that President Trump’s advisors are clueless on the entire truth of the conflict involving Israel and the Arab world. This was proven further when even after being schooled on Abbas lying; President Trump left his Bethlehem meeting with Abbas accepting his promise that they would no longer pay terrorists salaries.

Subsequent to his return to Washington D.C. Secretary of State Tillerman told the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, “They have changed that policy, and their intent is to cease the payments to the families of those who have committed murder or violence against others. We have been very clear with them that this is simply not acceptable to us.” This was reported on 20 Sivan 5777 or June 14, 2017. I make this date so important because this was in the morning of that date, and then everybody had lunch, and then there was the afternoon. Then, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson before the House Foreign Affairs Committee stated that the State Department had “changed their policy” on accepting that Abbas and the Palestinian Authority had certainly ceased payments to terrorists in Israeli prisons and families of terrorists and that the United States is in the middle of an “active discussion” with Ramallah on the issue. So during one day in hearing Secretary of State Tillerman had gone through a metamorphosis from telling that assurances were “given to me during the President’s visit to Bethlehem.” He then went on to further claim that he had certain “window of patience” on the matter but that if it takes too long he “will become disinterested.”

The entire obvious confusion and double-talking by the Secretary of State could be cleared for all if they would simply understand the report from the Palestinian Authority Prisoners’ Affairs Commissioner Essa Qaraka who said in a statement this week that payments to convicted terrorists and their families, and those of “martyrs” (terrorists killed while attacking Israelis) will certainly continue, because “almost every other household among the Palestinian people is the family of a prisoner or martyr.” So, their claim is that terrorism is so wide-spread and pervasive in the Palestinian population that virtually if not every family is receiving stipends tied to their relative ability to have murdered Israelis. Some families, it has been proudly reported, are receiving multiple stipends as more than one member had murdered Israelis in terror attacks and that the economy of the Palestinian Authority is based on murdering Israelis and that the majority of the monies provided by the United States, Europe, the United Nations and the entire world go to educating the children to murder Israelis, preferably Jews, and the remainder goes to stipends as payment for such murders with the remainder going into the pockets of Abbas and his cronies.

Now, I am sure there are those confused by Secretary Tillerman and other confused somewhat about the Palestinian Authority and what they intend truly to do. Let us start with the Palestinian Authority, as that is the easier of the two. The Palestinian Authority is a terrorist organization despite claims that it is an elected body. It is the elected body which resembles very closely the elected leadership of the PLO, a terror group, and the Fatah leadership, whose party chairman is Abbas. Abbas heads the PLO and is the president of the Palestinian Authority. Mahmoud Abbas also is the President of Palestine which technically replaced the Palestinian Authority which was disbanded by Abbas on January 3, 2013. On that date, the Palestinian Authority from the office of President Mahmoud Abbas issuing the following Decree:

Official documents, seals, signs and letterheads of the Palestinian National Authority official and national institutions shall be amended by replacing the name ‘Palestinian National Authority’ whenever it appears by the name ‘State of Palestine’ and by adopting the emblem of the State of Palestine.

The frightening thing is this idea of the existence of the State of Palestine has been accepted by 131 of the 193 United Nations Member States who supported the recent General Assembly vote recognizing the Palestinian Authority to be a member of the United Nations as the State of Palestine. The vote forced a vote in the Security Council on whether or not Palestine would be admitted to the United Nations. The Security Council vote was lobbied by the United States and subsequently failed thus it did not require the United States to use their Veto. That did not change the recognition granted by the General Assembly. The United Nations still allows the State of Palestine to sit as an observer nation under the title State of Palestine (see images below). Since then, in conflict with the charters of the individual agencies and that of the United Nations, many of the individual agencies have recognized and admitted the State of Palestine to their membership roles. The first to do so was UNESCO who has, since then, passed one resolution after another declaring initially that the Temple Mount has no connection to Judaism. They then extended this claiming that the Western Wall also is purely Islamic just as is the Temple Mount and everything upon the Temple Mount including the Church of the Holy Sepulchre are Islamic (see video below). UNICEF has also seen fit to recognize and list information about the State of Palestine including a map and statistics. What is not mentioned is the majority of the clean water is provided by Israel, as is the electricity. Most of the children in Judea and Samaria also, when needed, are given free medical care in Israeli hospitals. All of what is provided by Israel to the Arabs under Abbas and his organizations and upon which they are dependent are never paid for by their leadership thus their costs end up passed on to Israeli customers, just one more inequity which is never considered to be worthy of making the news. Other United Nations also have given recognition for the existence of the State of Palestine which might get one to wondering why there are still debates and negotiations with the Palestinian Authority which no longer exists and for the reason of establishing the State of Palestine which obviously does exist according to much of the world. Why not just set their borders as Area A and Area B and leave Area C for Israel as the Oslo Accords had relegated the dispensation of the lands and allow everything to go from there.

The final end should be that Abbas should be made to make his claim to the lands which he believes belongs to the State of Palestine and Israel should simply declare what areas under dispute Israel claims. Should there be any difference, which there will be, guaranteed, then a mediator should be appointed, or preferably a group of mediators and simply pound out as compromise. If there cannot be any compromise reached, then let the two then agree that a state of war exists between Israel and the State of Palestine and let things be settled by the old-fashioned means. We could predict what Abbas will claim are the borders for his State of Palestine. They would be the Jordan River, the Mediterranean Sea, the Lebanese border and the Egyptian border. His claim would include Gaza, Judea, Samaria and all of Israel because his desire is not for a State of Palestine as much as it is for the destruction of Israel. It matters not what borders Israel would claim because any land claimed by Israel would be denied by the Arabs as they refuse to permit a Jewish State with any borders, not a single square millimeter. Abbas proved this when the claim that all of Israel was a sacred Waqf of the Arab people, the Palestinians. This means very simply that the violence and terrorism war cannot end as long as any Jew resides on the land which is all of Israel. That is the end in simply language, and Hamas will demand the war continue until every Jew is dead. The reality is simply that the war is against the Jews and once the Jews are gone the war will then continue against the Christians as it has been fighting currently throughout the Islamic Arab world where the Jews were already driven from the lands and this war then continues until the final war which either Islam conquers the entire world or the world completely destroys Islam, there will not be any other settlement unless the Muslims drastically redefine their religion, so why not build in our land as whether we build or do not build, the end will still only come by the same means, the Muslims learning to live with Israel and the rest of the world or we will lose and all be destroyed. We will then know without a doubt which is stronger, Hashem or Allah. That is what will need to be decided once and for all, and the two are not the same and only one can be the true Creator of the Universe.

The Gaza Ploy

Do you want to hear something absolutely ludicrous, that is if you have not already heard? The Gaza electricity crisis has little if anything to do with Israel and is all Mahmoud Abbas’s doing. You see Abbas, head of the PLO, the Palestinian Authority (PA) and Fatah party, wants to get Gaza back. He wants to reunify the two halves of the Arab Palestinian territories so badly that he has created a crisis for Hamas. Hamas is his terror rival which he would just love to put out of business and take over their Gaza franchise and run it from the safety of Ramallah. Why, you may ask, is Ramallah safe for him and Gaza would not be safe? Well, that is because in Ramallah when he has a problem with people trying to assassinate him, he simply relies on the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) to protect him. He would not have IDF protection in Gaza which is why he wants it. Without IDF protection, Abbas will be able to arm Gaza to the teeth just as Hamas has been doing when they can. Abbas knows he can gain an advantage Hamas cannot, funding and an open border with Egypt. How can Abbas manage that? Well, if Abbas reunified Gaza and Judea and Samaria (West Bank), he will go to President Trump and claim he has reunified the “Palestinian territories and that means the two state solution is back in play.

So what, you say. Well, then Abbas can pretend that he is not a terrorist as part of the Oslo Accords granted him near immunity from being accused of terrorism. That has been how he could pay terrorists and their families salaries, or rewards, based on the number of Israelis murdered and maimed plus a side bonus for getting Israeli Minister to the Knesset. Yes, we know that President Trump got all upset over this and Abbas did his contrite and mournful puppy-dog eyes routine and promised never-ever to do such a mean and nasty thing like that again. We also know that Secretary of State Rex Tillerson just went to Congress with the promise from Abbas to stop these payments and told them it was safe to restart the full flow of funding to the PA. We also know that Abbas just informed Jared Kushner that he refuses to halt pay even to worst terrorists and that the United States can suck air if it thinks he will ever stop. Yes, we know that is the opposite of what he told President Trump while in tears just a few weeks ago. That is exactly how Abbas operates, and there is more.

Abbas ordered the payment for fuel and electricity for Gaza terminated in order to get Gazans to remove Hamas so he will turn back on their electricity. In the meantime, they can be placed in mortal risk of unclean water, non-functioning hospitals and every ill lack of electricity can bring. Once Abbas manages, if he is able, to remove Hamas and Islamic Jihad and regain control over Gaza, he will then demand that Israel grant him the two state solution now that the Arab areas are whole again. He will run to President Trump claiming that this was promised by the United States and the United Nations (UN), and the UN will agree with him in a heartbeat or as soon as the General Assembly, and possibly the Security Council are able to vote. Yes, the Security Council hoping that the United States will not veto any such order out of confusion. Abbas will demand that Nikki Haley be told not to veto the measure. Then he will insist on the pre-Six Day War borders as promised by President Obama, likely in a secret writing of a letter which Abbas will produce, then pressing President Trump and hoping to pin him to the wall on a technicality. And yes, it is all a pack of lies, which is Mahmoud Abbas’s currency of trade, lies and swindle. How else does one believe he still holds an office that he was elected to serve a four-year term back in 2005?

What is scary is he just might pull this lie off before the world catches on. The Europeans will back him fully on this swindle simply because it could bring about the end of the Jewish State. They know that if he wins this round, the next step will be the demand that the Arab refugees be reunited with their homes inside of Israel. What is remarkable is that none of the refugees had homes anywhere but inside Israel. The UNRWA (United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East) schools assign each of their students a city of origin in Kindergarten which they will carry with them for life. All the cities they assign are within Green Line Israel, within the pre-Six Day War borders. This is assuredly the plan which Abbas has dreamed of being capable of pulling off if only he could be rid of Hamas and Islamic Jihad and retake Gaza for his own. The main hope is his prevarication and out-and-out lying will be brought to the fore long before anything else can be achieved by this swindler Abbas. President Trump may have come into the Middle East knowing next to nothing and much of his crew of advisors are in that same boat, some, such as Niki Haley, actually understand what is happening and will hopefully set President Trump straight before any serious damage is accomplished. But Abbas has another plan, his Plan B.

Plan B has to do with getting the Egypt entrances to the Gaza region opened to permit the Arabs there to be capable of buying things not available in Gaza. This will allow him, in his theory, to bring weapons into Gaza and arm the enclave even more. Fortunately, Egypt also does not desire the Arabs in Gaza armed any further as they pose a threat to Egypt in the Sinai Peninsula. This means that Egypt also has a vested interest in keeping weapons out of Gaza. Abbas will then allow the Arabs in Gaza to fire rockets into Israel hoping to get a response from Israel. Abbas will use such a scenario to claim that if he is granted full autonomy over Gaza free from Israeli interference, then he can pacify the Arabs there by granting them electricity and sufficient water but only if those mean and horrible Jews are forced to meet their responsibility of providing these necessities. Abbas will claim that Israel is denying Gaza the electricity they used to provide as well as cutting their water and that Israeli wars destroyed the power stations and water treatment plants and Israel must replace and repair them.

Here is where things get tricky again as Abbas is the consummate liar. He will claim that Gaza had more than one electricity generating plant and additional water treatment plants and all other forms of infrastructure. He will turn to the European Union (EU) and European nations along with the General Assembly of the UN and Arab League, all of which will back everything he claims in order to harm Israel. We realize it sounds like the Israelis are simply paranoid but the truth is that the Europeans have never gotten past their innate anti-Semitism. For the proof of this one need look no further than the history of the Jews and their being driven from one nation to the next throughout history in Europe. Further, the actions of many of the nations conquered by the Nazis tell of their exceeding the quotas set for them by Germany for deporting their Jews to the concentration camps. Some nations, France for example, actually pleaded with the Nazis to please take the children as well as the Vichy French made better Jew haters than the Nazi troops stationed in France. Russia too has a horrific history of treatment of her Jews and the Arab world’s slaughter and mistreatment of Jews, as well as every other religion including other versions of Islam, found within their borders. One need look no further than the definition of Dhimmi in Islamic Law to see the inherent hatred for all things foreign (or watch video below). Dhimmis are permitted to live in their disgraced inferior place until their Islamic rulers decide the time has come for their conversion to the Muslim faith (the claimed true faith) or die. As we have seen of late in Egypt with Coptic Christians, sometimes death is delivered to Dhimmis without the offer to convert, they are just chosen to die, and the Coptic Christians have been Dhimmi for centuries and presumed to be protected by such status. The Jews were expelled after the formation of Israel leaving the Christians in the Islamic world to be the vulnerable.

Abbas does not dream of a day when he can make Dhimmis of the Israeli Jews, just the Christians, Baha’I and other minorities. Jews have gone beyond Dhimmitude for most of Islam and must now simply be put to the sword. This will not be admitted though almost every Jew which the Islamists have ever taken hostage have been murdered, some in gruesome fashion such as a Jewish French youth plied by a woman into an Islamic trap. He was tortured in an apartment building for three weeks before being found battered burned and handcuffed to a tree, he died soon after. The French media hid the reason for why Ilan Halimi was tortured to death, that it was because he was Jewish and for no other reason. The people in the apartment building where he screamed for weeks never thought to call authorities and instead many would knock on the apartment door and request to be able to join in the frivolity. Abbas would like to perform such on the over six-million Israeli Jews which is why he pays the terrorists according to the number of dead Jews they were able to cause. Many are making six figure incomes and most earn more than PA government employees. These are the elite, high paying positions in the PA, Jew killing terrorist; it pays in Mahmoud Abbas’s realms. Abbas sees Gaza as his own future personal free-fire zone for targeting Israel protected by the EU and UN.

Ilan Halimi

Ilan Halimi, another victim of Islam whose death passed with not much notice.
The fact that those in the building asked to assist makes this crime ever more horrific.

Abbas cannot be permitted to gain control over Gaza. Unfortunately, this decision may fall upon the UN, EU, European nations and UN agencies all of which will choose whatever promises a faster and more immediate end to Israel without leaving Jewish refugees. The lack of Jews left seeking a new nation is important as then these nations will not be revealed for the blood lust they have for Jews by their refusal to permit Jews entry. Remember the ship the St. Louis and the Voyage of the Damned. History has this uncanny way of repeating itself but with a twist and a rhyme of its former examples, but with similar if not exact results. Israel cannot afford returning to the 1967 borders (lines) as such would be a guarantee of another war and this time miracles might not happen. In the Six Day War Israel was predicted to fall. So much so that Britain and France had not only cut off military aid and frozen already paid for arms, they embargoed Israel and awaited the end of the Jewish State. The United States still had an arms embargo which had been in place since the creation of Israel on May 15, 1948. That is the reality; the United States voted in favor of recognition and then denied aid which might save the nation of Israel. The United States lifted the arms embargo in 1969 for reasons we explained in our article “I Worry for Israel and Her Future.” There are many who claim that this cannot be true because the United States has always had Israel’s back. Well, it was in the Six Day War that a United States electronics warfare ship sat in the Mediterranean Sea intercepting Israeli military transmissions and passing on pertinent information to the Egyptian military command. This was the part played by the United States but if you seek validation of this incident, you will get a very different picture of the events, this we can promise. This is part of why Israel has never and will never request any foreign fighters stand with Israel in the field of battle. Israel would prefer to go down on her own merit of her own soldiers than risk the lives of any other nation’s young men and women. If there are those who choose to fight with Israel as Israeli and under Israeli control, that is different and such soldiers have come forth in Israeli history, the most famous being Colonel Markus.

Abbas, like Arafat before him and the Mufti of Jerusalem Amin al-Husseini, has only one idea in his head, and it has nothing to do with a state for Arabs called Palestine or with living side-by-side in peace and security, it has to do with the destruction of Israel. That is the one and only goal of Fatah, of the PLO and of the PA and as soon as they have destroyed Israel a new war will break out between Jordan, Egypt, Lebanon, Islamic State and Syria, if it exists at that time, for control of the land which will mark the graves of over six million Jews as well as many thousands of others including approximately two-hundred-thousand Christians, Baha’I and other religious minorities. This is the desire of Abbas and also Hamas except Hamas has a higher aim, they call for the death of Jews universally wherever they may be found on Earth. That is the difference between Fatah, the PLO and the PA and Hamas, they all desire the destruction of Israel and have no interest in governing anything which is why the Arabs in their care suffer so badly, they have no real government, just homicidal maniacs completely enveloped in the murdering of Jews, while Hamas desires to carry their hatred beyond Israel to the remainder of the world. Abbas must not be permitted to succeed as the destruction of Israel will all but guarantee the end of Judaism within a century, two at the most, unless some miracle were to occur to prevent the remainder of the Jewish People from assimilating to the point that they lose sight of all that makes them Jews. This has been the biggest problem faced by the Jewish leaders in the United States as the Jewish population swindles through intermarriage and assimilation to the point that many Jewish mothers no longer raise their children as Jews, and for many it is because they do not know how as their parents were mostly already assimilated. To them being a Jew meant belonging to a Jewish youth group, a Bar or Bat Mitzvah and that was it. Many even stopped belonging to a congregation or even attending services on Shabbat or the High Holidays. Perhaps they would attend a Seder at Passover if an older relative held one, but those relatives are passing on, or they might have a Hanukah candelabra which they light and keep near their Hanukah bush which has an uncanny resemblance to a Christmas tree. That is the truth and it is a sad reality that within the next generation or two, the only Jews will be those in Israel and a few communities who reside in the same area as their Rabbi and they will soon become endangered as well, if they do not make Aliyah to Israel. For almost all Jews they can make Aliyah to Israel or by the time they have grandchildren, their family will no longer be Jews.

Christmas tree and Hanukkah Hanukkiah

Christmas tree and Hanukkah Hanukkiah.
Assimilation is its simplest form.

Seriously? Yes, very serious and all too true and it seems that the Jews in Israel are fighting this battle against assimilation except in Israel assimilation is believing the lies we hear from the Europeans, Arabs, too many Christian leaders and others who claim if we just give Abbas his desires then all will be well. The worst thing is the number of Jews in Israel and the United States who actually believe this. Our fear is that Jarred Kushner may be amongst those who believe the two state solution means anything other than another war to destroy Israel, seriously!

The World of Misconceptions About Israel

The first and most grievous misconception which persists no matter how many times it has been debunked is that Israel initiated the 1967 Arab-Israeli war. In order to address this there are a few facts which need discussion. At the end of the 1948-9 Arab War of Annihilation of the nascent Zionist Entity, Israel, where over a half dozen nations sent large military contingents in order to crush the life out of the Jewish State the morning of her birth, the world using either the refused division of the land or using the Peel Commission plan, they claimed Israel had conquered territory in a war the Jew started. The reality is that after the Arab League refused UN General Assembly Res. 181, it became defunct and left Israel with the Jordan River and Mediterranean as her borders that fateful May 15, 1948 morning. This means that Israel lost the areas illegally held by Jordan, Judea and Samaria (West Bank) and the Egyptians, the Gaza Strip. Unbelievably, Israel initially only held about one third of the lands between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea militarily at the outset of the conflict. Making matters even more perilous, many Arab villages which were behind the lines held by the Israeli three elements of military power, the Haganah, the Irgun and the Sternists; the three were eventually combined with a mutually mostly recognized hierarchy of officers into the Israeli Defense Force (IDF), and these villages were well armed Arab units which attacked supply lines and often engaged Israeli fighters from behind their defensive positions thus making their defense facing frontal and rear attacks simultaneously. The result of this problem was the main reason that any village allowing such armed fighters were forced into the Arab side of the lines of battle as leaving them in the rear was suicidal and would have proved fatal for the nascent nation of Israel. These villagers make up the vast majority of what are claimed to be Arabs thrown off their lands and denied their return. The reality is they were ununiformed combatants, which under the rules of war could have been shot summarily as spies or as terrorists due to being behind the lines of battle and ununiformed. When the armistice was signed, one of the conditions stated in simple terminology was that the closure of the Strait of Tiran to Israeli shipping, thus closing passage through the Aqaba Gulf, is a violation and thus a legitimate casus belli. In 1956 Egypt closed the Strait of Tiran to Israeli shipping as well as the Suez Canal to western passage leading to a state of war between Israel, Britain and France, among potentially others, against Egypt. The three mentioned allied and at the agreed time for initiating actions to relieve these sieges, Britain and France began negotiations while Israel took the Sinai Peninsula and captured an entire Egyptian army. Under extreme threat from President Eisenhower and grumblings from the Soviet Union, Israel returned the Sinai Peninsula and released the trapped Egyptian Army. The armistice from 1956 also stated that closure of the Strait of Tiran to Israeli shipping, thus closing passage through the Aqaba Gulf, is a violation and thus a legitimate casus belli. Further, the Sinai Peninsula was declared to be a demilitarized zone enforced by the United Nations. Egypt placing troops into the Sinai Peninsula was also made a casus belli.

That brings us to May of 1967 where Egyptian President Gamal Abdel Nasser, responding to a Soviet Union report that Israel was massing troops near the Syrian border, ordered the United Nations peacekeepers out of the Sinai Peninsula, sent Egyptian troops including armored divisions into the Sinai Peninsula, closed the Strait of Tiran and placed the Egyptian army on highest alert. This was in reality three declarations of war against Israel under treaty and International Law. These three were, one, dismissing the United Nations troops, two, placing troops into the Sinai which was double compounded as they included armored troops, three, the closure of the Strait of Tiran. Israel was free to respond to these as if they were actual attacks upon Israeli cities by Egyptian forces. Egypt had already found that the report of Israeli troops massing, or even moving, towards the Syrian border was mere Soviet Union propaganda and the IDF was in a completely passive normal standing doing nothing special. Nasser had started something that he now could not stop or tune down without losing face, something he was loathe to do, thus war was coming no matter what. Nasser, despite gaining treaties of mutual defense with Syria, Jordan, Iraq and Saudi Arabia and having had Iraq and Saudi troops already sent into Jordan to await the coming war, was worried about one potential consequence to openly declaring war, the United States intervening. Egypt sent an envoy to Washington D.C. to disarm any American response and informed the waiting allied troops that he would force Israel to strike first which the Egyptians could absorb and still destroy Israel easily. Egypt had figured they would lose at most fifteen percent of their air power and be able to deliver a knockout to the far smaller Israeli Air Force. Nasser added more troops into the Sinai Peninsula and moved them closer to the Israeli border until some reached within sight of the Israeli border. Add in the rhetoric about driving the Jews into the sea and holding the war in Tel Aviv and boasting that Egypt could be in Beersheva within three hours of any Israeli attack, Nasser had boldly stated, “Our path to Palestine will not be covered with a red carpet or with yellow sand. Our path to Palestine will be covered with blood.” Egyptian media released quotes made by Nasser addressing Egyptian pilots after the Egyptian closure of the Strait of Tiran at the southern mouth of the Gulf of Aqaba to Israeli and Israel-bound shipping stating, “The Gulf of Aqaba constitutes our Egyptian territorial waters. Under no circumstances will we allow the Israeli flag to pass through the Aqaba Gulf.” These were not the words of a leader seeking a peaceful resolution to the situation that he had initiated and now could not stop, and he did not desire even trying to prevent his inevitable war. This was definitely going to be Gamal Abdel Nasser’s great war upon which he would launch his claim to the rightful leadership of the Pan-Arab unified national super-state.

Pre-1967 War Arab Army Advances and Positions

Pre-1967 War Arab Army Advances and Positions

Those of us who have studied recent history or the most stunning victories in warfare, know Israel did finally attack and within three hours they had all but eliminated the Egyptian Air Force and had complete superiority of the air. In an armor war in a dessert, controlling the air is one main definition of victory, and Israel won the air war. Second, Israel attacked the Egyptians where they were not, sending one column of naval commandos down the south side of the Sinai Peninsula to the Strait of Tiran and an amphibious unopposed landing at Sharm el-Sheikh. This combined with armored and fast assault infantry in Armored Personnel Carriers as well as in trucks are all displayed in the map below. The assaults came across every pass through the central mountain spine and was so fast that the Egyptian troops were either struck so violently that they became inoperable or bypassed and cut-off completely and forced to surrender. These Egyptian troops were returned after the end of hostilities, as Israel had no desire to house so many troops. The war was quick and over almost before the world had media there to comment and cover the entire war. Israeli casualties and losses were in total against all fronts which include Syria, Jordan and Egypt, were 776-983 killed, 4,517 wounded, 15 captured, 400 tanks destroyed and 46 aircraft destroyed. Egyptian losses were 10,000-15,000 killed or missing depending on sources, and 4,338 captured. Jordanian losses were 6,000 killed or missing and 533 captured. Syrian losses were 2,500 killed and 591 captured while Iraqi losses were 10 killed and 30 wounded. The losses in armor and aircraft are only able to be estimated with aircraft lost by all Arab forces was approaching five hundred and the total armor lost simply stated as hundreds, many hundreds. Needless to point out, the war was just as one-sided as Gamal Abdel Nasser had predicted the war would be, just not for the side he thought would win in a couple of days, maybe a week.

Six Day War Battle Assault Advances of Israelis in Sinai Peninsula

Six Day War Battle Assault Advances of Israelis in Sinai Peninsula

After the war, there was discussion as to who initiated the war. The United States and Soviet Union actually agreed that it was Israel which had initiated the war. They ignored every single one of Egyptian transgressions which each were a breach of treaties and were each a legitimate casus belli, or in regular English, a legal declaration of war by Egypt upon Israel. These transgressions made any response by Israel to be legal and in defense of her rights under our favorite subject, International Law. What becomes the most malleable item when discussing anything with reference to Israel and her Arabs Neighbors? The answer is International Law. This has been true with dealing with any Arabs, including the Palestinians who have gotten in on the act since 1964 when their declaration was to replace Israel and made no claims on Judea and Samaria (West Bank) or the Gaza Strip as the first was being illegally occupied by Jordan and the other illegally occupied by Egypt. They, as now, only wanted the lands which the Jews were living in, and all of that land just as now. Why does International Law become so difficult to understand and become applied in ways that it would never be applied in any other conflict? Part of the reason is the Arabs and oil plus their ability to almost control the discussion as they can invest hundreds of millions of dollars into the information war which has taken a new front on western college and university campuses. Thus it was little surprise that initially the entire world was screaming that Israel started it, Israel started it! After things quieted down and a more reasoned examination was able to be performed, it became evident that Israel did not start the war. Egypt initiated the conflict. After Israel responded to the Egyptian closure of the Strait of Tiran, ordering the United Nations peacekeepers from the Sinai Peninsula and then the final move of placing troops and then armor into the Sinai Peninsula; these were each the equivalent of a declaration of war. Then Syria leveled artillery from the Golan Heights to which Israel responded taking the Golan Heights in three days of heavy fighting. Jordan did not enter the war until day two and Israel pleaded with Jordan not to join the war explaining that the Egyptian and Syrian broadcasts of their advancing on Tel Aviv were propaganda and the truth was that Israel was advancing on all fronts. Jordan took the Israeli pleading as a sign of weakness and that they truly had to be losing badly and Jordan wanted in on the kill and to take extra lands. This led to their being pushed back across the Jordan River and the change in the PLO and their now claiming they would liberate Judea and Samaria (West Bank) and then the remainder of Israel. Israel responded to the Jordanian attack from their higher placements on the Temple Mount and along the higher ridges overlooking Jerusalem. The Saudi and Iraqi troops attacked, either with Jordan or were left standing with the Egyptians depending on which front they had joined the war. Lebanon played a minor part in the war with their losses existing as a single aircraft, yes, that’s right, a single aircraft. The oddities in the implementation of International Law after the Six Day War making the victim into the aggressor and excusing any and all violations by the Arab nations as excusable while Israel defending herself judged to be illegal gives one a true vision when explaining the same practice of twisting International Law into a corkscrew and worse in order to place all blame away from the Arab states when it comes to matters concerning Israel. You could call the game the blame Israel debacle. But that will be for another day.
